Hey you! Yes you! Do you wish to defend the human race from an onslaught of giant monsters from the sea? Go out there and look like a total boss while you beat back the fascist Kaiju for the glory (and survival) of the Motherland? Risking life and limb in a Giant Robot with a huge fuckoff flamethrower and LIGHTNING FISTS (but no ejection seat)?

If not too bad, the giant monster is already here and you're the closest thing available to pilot.

This is a PLAYTEST for a simple d6 Giant Robots Punching Giant Monsters simulation meant to help me get a better grasp on what I should/should not allow as abilities, skills, etc. What is simple d6? Find out here:

Da rules:
First three votes determine your action (anons that vote to flee will not be counted and promptly shot for cowardice).
Then I will allow the thread to roll em.
Fascist Kaiju is under the GM's control.

Next post will be the CS of the proud defender of the motherland CHERNO ALPHA.

Defender of the motherland CHERNO ALPHA
Concept:
Giant robot

Aspects:
Combat - Def. 3 - HP 6

Skills:
- Close combat
-- Grappling
-- Punching
--- Tesla Enhanced Piston Punching
- Flamethrowing

Abilities:
Incinerator Turbines - A nuclear powered flame-thrower that confers a flat d6 damage upon a hit (as in the result of the d6 is directly added to the damage, no need to roll a six).
URAAAH! - Cherno Alpha may roll to charge. When doing so, the task resolution chart is used. Upon a success, Cherno gains a free extra turn to do horrible things to it’s opponent.

Why don't you remake this and put quest in your topic so people can conveniently filter you.

Concept:
- Fascist Kaiju

Aspects:
Combat - Def. 2 - HP 6

Skills:
- Close combat
-- Grappling
--- Prehensile tail

This is a playtest. One where I put in fluff because I feel like it, but in the end a PLAYTEST. Quite different from a quest.

Anyway, TEST START!

Setting: Nakhodka Bay, east of Vladivostok. Cherno Alpha begins at the end of the A188, Otachi at the harbour 1km southwest of Cherno's postion. Movement speed is loosely 500m per turn.

It is essentially a quest thread. You are doing what QMs do. Have people roll in the thread, then you do an update.
>>
>>29489808

Gotta say I agree with this anon, though I totally want to play.

It's an uneasy truce that the quest and anti-quest fags have. They'll shit up the thread if we don't let them easily filter.
>>
>>29489881
Exactly. I'm trying to keep your thread from being shat upon.

>>
>>29489881

I duly apologise if I offend someone's sensibilities but I just do not see a playtest and a quest as the same thing. I judged that by the standard set by the anon that ran those FATAL fecht threads. Those were not marked quests either and are pretty much the same thing as what I'm trying to do here. Largest difference between the two as far as I see it is that I'm using a functional system of course.
>>

>>29489915
>>29489808
Eugh. You guys are worse than questfags and antiquestfags put together. It's just nauseating. To hell with your arbitrary unenforceable compromises that matter not to either quests or this thread.

Keep calm and carry on.

CHERNO ALPHA moves 500m towards OTACHI

TURN 2:

(Base d6 + Spitting d6)
>>
>>29490804

Damage: 4 points - 3 def. = 1 point of damage
EXTRA: Acid spit reduces def by 1.

Because of the charge Cherno Alpha is too late to step aside the stream of biting acid and is showered by it. The blue poison corrodes away a massive slab of armour and damages several internal systems. However, the mighty Cherno is a jeager built to last: Redundancies kick in so fast that it barely pauses as it proceeds to:
> first vote to get to three votes decides Cherno's next action

Also a clarification on how the flamethrower works: The turbines confer a flat d6 extra damage on a successful hit. This means that you get to roll 2d6 to hit (Base d6 + Flamethrowing skill). IF this attack hits THEN you roll another d6 worth of damage to add up to it. Note that the turbines can be used in melee if so desired!

(Lastly I'm kind of surprised no one's charging given that it's mechanically the best option if I'm looking at Cherno's sheet)
>>
>>29491524
Can we combine charging with piledriving?
>>
>>29491555
As it stands, on a successful charge you gain a (degrees of succes) number of free turns to do horrible things to Otachi. So yes you can piledrive Otachi, then proceed to do other horrible things to her as a follow up without giving her the chance to retaliate. Piledriving counts as a grappling attack.

((I'm thinking the URAAA ability needs to be revamped, now that I'm looking it over.))
>>
>>29491703
> As it stands, on a successful charge you gain a (degrees of succes) number of free turns to do horrible things to Otachi

That contradicts what you posted earlier:

> URAAAH! - Cherno Alpha may roll to charge. When doing so, the task resolution chart is used. Upon a success, Cherno gains a free extra turn to do horrible things to it’s opponent.

This says only one extra turn, not degrees of success.

Oops. It's supposed to be number of degrees of success that determine the number of free turns. Whups, forgot to post the write up.

Undeterred by the molten armour dripping from it's front, Cherno continues it's unstoppable charge. The agile Otachi realises it's mistake and desperately tries to get out of the way of the Russian behemoth but, in the abandoned trainyard that is the battlefield, there is nowhere to hide. Nowhere to run. There is only the fury of Cherno's mighty bulk as it smashes into the filthy beast that dared defile Mother Earth with it's presence. Fuelled by the primal hate of the entire human race as well as solid, bulky Russian nuclear reactor Cherno smashes into Otachi like a freight train, dazing the creature as Cherno:

> [ ] Punches it with the mighty fists powered by pure hate, Russian engineering genius and of course Tesla lightning! ((Punch, 4d6))
> [ ] Breaks the fascist Kaiju's back through superior Soviet Wrestling skills! ((Grapple, 3d6))
> [ ] Gives it a warm Russian welcome with it's nuclear powered Flamethowers! ((2d6 to hit + another d6 of raw damage

You can pick four attacks from this list. Creative write ups may get a bonus to damage.
>>
>>29493881
Grapple -> flamethrower -> piledriver -> punch.
Grab it in a bear hug, burn the bastard, then piledrive it. Then punch it in the face for good measure.
>>
>>29494037
I dunno. I think

Left hook -> Right hook -> Piledriver -> Turbines

Would be better. Looking at the sheet a punch is 4d6 while piledriver, going by >>29491703 counts as a grapple which is only 3d6. Turbines are iffy because it's only 2d6 to hit.

(insert witty fire related pun here)
>>
Otachi, upon seeing death incarnate approach in the form of the towering Cherno Alpha, desperately tries to hop out of the way. The scaly beast barely dodges Cherno’s lariat with an awkward hop and stretch. This last awkward dodge has two side-effects however. One, a crazy, deaf and drunk hobo that tried to piss on the Kaiju is reduced to a red smear as the beast steps on his head. Two, she cannot dodge the follow up wall of fire that Cherno sends forth to burn this scourge of the face of the earth.

Burn damage: 1 + 4 = 5! Otachi reduced to 1 HP!

Blinded by the roiling flames, screeching in pain, the Kaiju decided discretion is the better part of valour and tries to retreat. It’s maddened crawls allow it to just slip out of Cherno’s grip as the mighty Russian attempts an epic propaganda coup by imitating one of Russia’s most famous wrestling moves. However, then the mighty giant stops as fresh orders come in from high command. With the Kaiju this hurt, alongside with Cherno’s tesla fists, the local Pan-Pacific Defense Corps wants to try the impossible: Capture. Shrugging as much as it can, Cherno lumbers over to the blinded Kaiju’s head, places a fist on either side and unchains the wrath of the thundergod. The entire Kaiju shakes, seizes up, and falls unconscious.

Punch damage: 1 Otachi reduced to 0 HP! Otachi is KO!

END RESULT: Total victory! The capture of Otachi reveals a lot more about the Kaiju’s make up, and even ends up in a massive intelligence coup as a way through the rift is discovered. Stuffed like a turkey with all the nukes Humanity can scrounge together, the unconscious Kaiju is delivered to the breach, sealing it in a cataclysmic explosion and saving the world!
