The two hooded men begin to stand. The one with his hand outstretched starts to come closer, the bugs on his hand crawling back into his sleeve.

"Come Mr. Dodge, I am sure you will find yourself at peace once we get where we are going." He says, his voice monotone and creepy. You recoil back, disgusted by these men your hand gripping your suitcase tight.

"Stay away from me!" You shout backing out of the room, only for the men to advance, bugs beginning to crawl out of their robes, towards you.
As the insects close in faster than their masters you start to feel trapped when suddenly you hear a *Ding* and the elevator opens, someone in Firewatch armor steps out carrying a chem gun firing it, a green chemical shooting out coats some of the bugs forwarding on you and draws a line between you and the hooded men. The figure quickly waves you to the elevator, and with no time to waste you run in and slam your finger on the close button. As the elevator begins to close the men appear at the doors and grab a side and start to pull it open, and shit its working. You look toward the figure and he has backed up against the wall, he seems to only have the chem gun. You know its time to act.

As you move to fire your briefcase you suddenly remember there is some fucking Soy Kaf in your hand, with a glare of the eye and a smirk of the mouth you yell "Taste Soy you bastards!" as you throw the Kaf at them.

The men recoil in sheer burning pain as the steam comes off the new mixture of soykaf and flesh. They let go of the elevator doors, turning their faces away and burying them in their hands as they fall to the ground.

The figure turns to you and moves to shake your hand with one hand while removing his helmet and revealing the face of an ork male.

Ronald Ferraro shakes your limp hand vigorously and speaks with a heavy Texan accent, almost laughing between words.

"Son, that was some of the best damn use of improvisation I have ever seen in my god damn life, I tell you what."

You take a minute to calm down and realizing that Ronald isn't from Hong Kong, you narrow your eyes, keeping a hand on your briefcase.

"So Roland what part of Ares do you really belong to?" The question seems to taken the ork a back for a second before he regains resolve.

"Well I was trained in De-troit as an agent in Ares' Bug-Hunting Division. Whenever something suspicious happens that can link to the Bugs, they send an agent out to in-tar-grate with the locals and sniff out any possible hives."

You look at him somewhat confused by what this Texan is saying, not how he is saying it. You understand him perfectly, but how he uses the words 'Bug'.

"Roland, you mean to tell me those were Bug Shamans? I thought we were able to crush the threat of more Bug Shamans in Chicago?"

Simply rolling his eyes and looking back to you he says in an exaggerated tone. "Son, there is a lot more to these Bugs than Chicago."

The two of you ride the elevator down to the tech level, the walls filled to the ceiling with nodes, singular cubes set up all across the floor. Ronald and you make a running jog for his office, which turns out to be his entire base of operation for his Bug Hunting.

"Son I want you to stay here while I go find clues to the Hive's location, I'll need you here in case anything happens you are safe and can call for back up incase I am comp-ro-mised, jus' use that node in the left corner." He quickly leaves you in the room, locking the door behind him as he goes back to do his job, but for you a feeling has entered your body. one you just can't your finger on just yet.

You get up and look around the room, yeah there is enough of that chemical that kills Bugs laying around and extra chem guns, there is even some body armor though it doesn't look like it can fit you. You quickly thumb through your contacts and message 'Wunderbread' and 'Xena'

>FRANK: Need help with a "little bug problem" at work and I can use all the help I can get.

You then call Sam on you 'link, after a couple rings she finally picks up.

"Hey Frank, what's up? That meeting over?"
She says, you can hear her yawning after she finishes her sentence.

"Yeah, Sam, look you need to take off now and go wait for me at a bar downtown, send me the details once you pick one out."

You can hear some concern as she responds back. "Frank is everything alright? You sound, off."

You nod and smile a bit, trying your best to sound positive. "Yeah Sam, everything will be fine. See you when I see you." You hang up before she can respond again. As you hang up your 'link chirps twice

>XENA: "Bugs? Those bastards aren't encroaching on my business, I'll meet you outside Ares Plaza."
>WUNDERBREAD: "Man, bug hunting, this is some retro action right here. Don't know what I can do to help, but I'm in."

You smile as you thumb through your contacts, thinking to call that Bartender or Emanuel for help, but reconsider and go to the contact info for those cops, you set up a group call with them and wait for them to answer.

"Hello?" you hear what sounds like the dwarf speak up.

"Hey, this is Frank, you helped me earlier in a jam I had."

"Oh, hey Frank, yeah that was some weird stuff, everything going ok?" The dwarf responds back, the other officer hasn't spoken up yet, he must be a quiet guy for the most part.

"Yeah, a Bug problem at work. I might need you guys' help. Discreet help, that is." You tell him, and after a minute on their side beside the occasional muttering you can hear, the dwarf responds back. "Yeah, Frank this is a big thing here. We need to alert the entire force."

You sigh, you know they are right. "Alright, call it in. I'm sorry for asking to keep this hush, hush. I just didn't want it to start a panic and ruin the company image."

The dwarf responds, some sympathy in his voice, but also his voice is stern at the same time."Frank, this won't hurt Ares, not reporting it in would have hurt Ares. I can understand your concern. We have to go Frank, good bye."

they hang up the phone and you run your hand through your hair, this rush of panic running through your veins, but that has to wait. You need to meet Xena and Wunderbread.

After riding the elevator and leaving the building you find both of them waiting outside on the steps. "Hey guys, I got some good news, and some bad news."

They both look at you you quizzically. confused by what you are saying. " Are we not getting anything for this, because I don't do charity Frank." Xena looks at you with a cold gaze, she seems to care more than Wunderbread who just looks curious.

"No, we are getting back up, from Knight-Errant."

"How long have you been doing this Xena?" You smile, trying to be as warm as possible to deflect the ice queen.

"Doing what?" She asks, matching your warmth with cruelty

"Shadowrunning?" You ask, as if that was the obvious question.

She begins to laugh and rolls her eyes, this time out of amusement. "Frank, I'm not a shadow runner. I'm a praying mantis, a black widow. I don't do stupid shit like this all the time."

You tap your foot and wait a minute for Xena to simmer down. "So Xena, I hear most vampires are also mages, do you know any decent spells?"

She actually perks her head up and looks over her shoulder. "How did you know that?"

You smile, trying to bring in that trademark Frank warmth. "We studied vampires and other awakened beings when I was in school."

She nods and turns around. "Well for one, I can amplify my appearance along with altering my "victim's" emotions. Offensively though I only know stun ball. If we are being honest. I like them live."
Wunderbread suddenly chimes in, apparently out of his trance. "Gross." Xena rolling her eyes at the comment looks to Bread and shrugs

"So kid, what floor are they on?"

Wunderbread looks up towards the ceiling and points. "In the upper floors, its probably a wasp hive if anything. A lot of the Bugs Ares captures for study and experimentation are Wasps."

You dart your head to Wunderbread, you never heard about Ares keeping Bugs, but that is something for later. Now you need to help bring this down.

The three of you head into the elevator and hit the button for the top floor of the building and as you head up the elevator it finally hits you. Your boss, maybe he has something to do with this. Maybe he brought these Bugs in. Maybe he ordered the kidnapping for this purpose. You turn to Wunderbread.

"Hey, would it be possible if you looked through my bosses stuff."

Wunderbread snorts and nods, with an arrogant smirk on his face. "Sure can, should be a breeze if I invade from his node. Though, I am sure there are some late night workers left, or guards. I rather not go in alone.

You realize he does have a point, you run your hand through your hair and look over at Xena who looks back at you. "I'm not going up there without any back up, I'm a wanted for questioning if you remember." She says, staring you dead in the eye.

You continue to to think it over, but your floor is approaching fast, a decision must be made.

The elevator quickly passes up your floor on its trip to the top. After about 6 minutes you get to the top floor of the building, and hear a buzz outside. You quickly pull out your chem gun, and get Wunderbread to get his ready. Xena takes out her Predator and points it at the door.

With a ding the door opens and you find what is making the buzz, a horde of flies covering something. You look down the other way, and the hall ways are covered in all sorts of bugs, you wonder how many people here are with these Bugs to have brought these many up.

Wunderbread decides to walk out the elevator and point the chem gun at the flies, firing he catches much of them in the substance, practically melting them. The form becoming clear looks like a body, but what catches your attention also is the chanting you can hear from the meeting room.

Oh no, you are absolutely right. You aren't a Shadowrunner though. Really this is more like a taste of it for Frank, but so would have going after the files. So far Frank isn't being played like a runner, or being bent down that path so ,moral faggotry, so right now he is: not watching your back, wasting ammo, hell I am sure he would cut a deal with a dragon, and Frank, he already trust an elf.

>>
You decide the first thing to do is call Ronald. You dial him in and start the call.

Ring, Ring, RingRingRing, Ring, Ring, Voicemail.

Damn you think to yourself, looking back ot the body a moment of dread washes over as you creep close to it. As you get close you don't see a chem gun on him so it rules Ronald out, but you realize you do know him.

This is the security guard who would sit in on Circle meetings incase of anything unexpected happened, that he could deal with.Wunderbread almost pukes at the sight of this guy, which makes you think, how long has he been running?

You shake your head and search the shards of his clothes, finding a certified Credstick for 3,000¥. How he got this is beyond you, because Ares CorpSec is paid in script along with most of the non awakened staff that aren't higher up on the food chain. You look it over, finding nothing to identify where he got it from

You place the Credstick in your pocket for evidence, and continue looking around, but find yourself drawn to the meeting room. The chanting has become louder, and you can also hear other voices as well. They sound frightened. You also hear squishing noises inside.

You look to Wunderbread and with your command over your own voice you tell him with an audible whisper you speak.
"Bread, can you get in the cameras. We need an eye inside."
Wunderbread nods his head and gives a thumbs up head for the supply closet in case things get hairy early on.

You turn to Xena who leans in, she must be messing with you, because the top she is wearing didn't leave much to the imagination, now its leaving nothing. She is smiling coyly, so she must be, hell of a time to do that.

"Alright Xena, get a stunball ready, and for the love of god, put those away." Xena leans back preparing the Stunball when an AR message pops up from Wunderbread. Weird, usually your 'link would chirp, thank god it didn't.

>WUNDERBREAD: "I'm in, It looks like they made a circle with strange markings, a woman is in the center, she is squirming, trying to break free, while the shamans chant. There are also what looks to be giant maggots."

He sends you the feed and sure enough he was right, the mages are not in there with the Bug Shamans so they must be somewhere else, hopefully on this floor. You think about what made those noises, if not the mages. It sound like multiple voices.

Knight Errant arrives in 40 minutes

You message Wunderbread to turn off the lights in five seconds.

5.

You then motion to Xena to shoot the stun ball as soon as you kick the door down

4.

You let out a deep breath

3.

Find your center.

2.

Raising your food, getting ready to kick

1.

The lights go out and the foot makes contact with the vatgrown wood, making it fly straight off its hinges and into the man who's back was turned to the door.

The stun ball goes out, missing one of the casters and exploding against the maggots. You then take the chance, extending both arms out, you run in, your thermographic vision kicking in, you see two of them in your immediate vision and hook both of them with your each of your fist as you charge in.

As you lean down exhaling you can hear Wunderbread charging down the halls, but you don't see the two other casters. Wher-the oxygen suddenly leaves the room-shit.

Suddenly, something tickles your back, making you laugh almost hysterically. Though you can feel the oxygen continuing to be sucked out the room, and as you turn around you see that one of the casters has created a fireball so large it seems to be manifesting as a spirit, and its birth will have quite the explosive effect you realize.

Looking around the room you notice only the woman on the floor. She is one of the wage mages who works in the clinic, she has had to patch you up once or twice when work and confrontation became one. You also notice how she is looking at you. Begging for mercy, for the end? For a Savior maybe.

You quickly evaluate the situation and grab the woman, luckily she is only an elf, and therefore lighter than any other metahuman you have had to carry. You run out of the room signaling for Bread and Xena to follow you. You all get into the President's office, have Bread activate lockdown controls and hide in the small safety room hidden inside the office.

After another five minutes you start to hear the men scream, knowing their flesh is being cooked alive, you pray that the other mages are not on this floor, the climax will come soon and you know it is to late to leave the safety of the panic room.

Suddenly everything goes silent, everything. For what feels like an eternity you cannot hear a thing, not even the breath of the three other people in the room. not the sobs on the woman you are holding in your arms nothing. Then you feel it, the explosion, the sheer heat turns the metal hot as you all crunch together, keeping away from the walls, and as it seems to subside a minute later, you know that metal will burn you.

You have Bread electronically open the door and you inspect the damage. What you find is that the entire top floor sans the panic room and a hidden safe have been scorched off the top of the building. You see the helicopters closing in.

Knight Errant arrives in five minutes.

You quickly grab the bar of Orchalium, and handing a several of the bonds to both Xena and Wunderbread before letting out a mighty roar and kicking the brittle safe so hard it falls back. You then kick it again adding larger force behind it causing it to slide to the edge of the building, the Ares Choppers coming in over you as the safe seems to fall off the side of the building.

They hover over you for a moment before shutting off their lights. Wunderbread and and Xena seem to make their escape as the lights go dark, but as you start to move, you know it is to late as you are still weighed down by the woman and you saved.

You watch as men throw down ropes and descend, the shape they cast in your thermographic vision is that of Firewatch, and they begin to surround you.
