I just set up my new OS: Kiddie linux, again.
As a regular GM with lots of handouts, what should I install?

I have:
Libre Office
Gimp bitmaps
Blender 3D
SweetHome 3D interior design
Audacity audio
VLC I know

What else could be helpful in creating game worlds for my players? Software for other systems is fine as well. Also if you know any useful websites, like
Gomix.it
donjon.bin.sh
scp-wiki.net
don't keep them secret.

GM tools!

Intredasting. I was thinking of making a technological assistance thread, too

I am going to likely be hosting an IRL Legends of the Wulin game soon. Are there any things like tablets or low-resource laptop programs that you've made use of in your IRL games, tee gee?
>>
>>29668119
Sry, no tablet here. But the topic folds right in.

What is the Madness Meter? Other than that it looks like BRP to me...
>>
>>29668006
Why are you hating on VLC? When I was running Fedora that is what I used mostly (I think, it has been some time).
>>
>>29669098
I use VLC exclusively. It has a few comfort issues, but nothing beats not having to worry about codecs. There is a meme though that VLC is for people who don't know better and should be raged at whenever encountered.

Oh, I was not aware of that. I mostly use Media Player Classic now that I am on Windows all the time, I like the color balance and I don't have to mess with any settings.
>>
>>29669191
So I was wrong about it being BRP. Oops.
>>
>>29669323
No, it is Laundry, a BRP system. I just modded it with Dark ORE's Madness Meter because I didn't like the way CoC handles sanity. It can feel like a punishment to players when they lose SAN, and it should be roleplaying fun instead.
>>
>>29669391
Oh! I love the Laundry books! Bought the rpg book since I loved the fiction (though I haven't read all of them). Never have had a chance to play/run it yet.

Is there a way to stream audio to my players for stuff like ambient sounds or battle music?

Op pick up maptools, as a VTT its one of the most robust and customizable. Cant imagine anyone that goes through the trouble of creating things not liking the versatility and depth it offers to game running. I personally love writing complex macros with visual elements like gifs, tooltips, random flavor text.

That's the silliest thing I've heard anyone argue over in a while.

"Stop using that software that does reliably exactly what you want it to you idiot! What the hell are you doing?"

Without saying its flawless, VLC is hardly something urgently in need of a replacement.

I personally recommend AutoRealm. It's not pretty but it makes maps good and simple. It runs fast and fine on my ancient beast.

>It has a few comfort issues
I have literally one gripe and that's how it adds newly-opened tracks to your current playlist, and I'm sure that two minutes in the options would fix it. People who bitch about it are simply shitposters who are dying for attention.

Surely it must be rather easy to randomly produce donothing code that follows a syntax rather than always spit out the code to Linux Process Group ID handler?
>>
>>29729961
Oh yeah, seventhsanctum.com is also a good random generator page.
>>
>>29729961
There used to be one that took uploaded text files.

I would also like something that looks like a database query, a netcat protocol, or a remote terminal. Something that occasionally spits out a whole block of text, maybe an ASCII diagram, instead of the steady trickle in hackertyper.
