The Processors are going through all the swarms memories, scanning for a new beast to add to their menu.

They are delighted when they come upon a memory from the earliest beginnings of the swarm.

10 Guards are sent out in search of the elusive creature, after hours of flying around, they see a small group emerge from the lakes of lava and make their way onto land. There are 5 of them, 1 obviously male by his doubled size and the other 4 female, the females, unfortunately lack the black tusk of their male counterparts.

Roll a dice (d100)
10+ enthrall all beasts
6-9 enthrall all females
1-4 all beasts resist and charge the processors

Back at the Home hive, Wal'thrak has the remaining guards begin digging out a chamber for her hopefully new pets to be, having one of the Processors shoot a Psyconic beam into the chambers side to allow a small lake of lava to pool for the beasts.

Wal'thrak decides it is best to add to her swarm, the sight of the thousands of orcs lingering on her mind.
>+15 Processors

With Processors now being the most populated strain of our species, they have grown too large in number to accommodate the queen in her chamber. Those in Home Hive receive their own chamber.
>>
>>29677469
As your Processors are migrating to their new quarters, they arrive to see the Wal'thrakian hound has taken a shit in the middle of the chamber.

It jumps up on one of the Processors briefly, then runs off down the tunnels.
>>
>>29677506
The processors become incandescent with rage.
They employ one of the Needlers to track the hound down, and then reach out with their minds to it.

It is not recorded in the Swarm's memory what they did with its mind, but it was constipated for over two weeks afterwards and reacts as if struck when the words "Bad Dog" are said in the Wal'Thrak Hive's common tongue.

B. Breed more Processors and request the presence of our Courter, maybe he can help us create a stronger Processor
>>
>>29677554

>C Do >>29677405 !
It is time to seriously screw with them.
Our forces are to pull back after each Processor has fired once, and after repeating the attack and pulling back every hour three times, they are to mix up the schedule for less predictability.

If all orcs pull back into the mountain, start firing at the gate itself.
If they send out search parties, pull back further and bombard them from massive range, same as before.

I propose that 70%, of our Processors be used for this, with 60% of our regular Guard (the Terrorguard leave much too visible trails) escorting them.
60% of our Needlers are to be spread out, camoflaged in the treetops, making sure the main force of Processors and Guards do not wander anywhere near any patrols. The Needlers are not ever to engage the enemy, only scout.
.
Make sure our remaining forces keep vigilant watch at the Hive for this duration.
>>
>>29677595
Wal'thrak summons the Courter to her chambers, she has concocted plans in the forbidden part of her mind to create a special egg. The withholding of this information displeases the Courter.
>Mathrian roll a die
>30+ Courter attends
>29- Courter refuses

>>29677599
The swarm is mobilizing, a contingent of mostly Processors are making their way to Needle Hive, to begin harassment of the orc city.

Needlers circle the perimeter of the mountain entrance they discovered overhead, invisible to the naked eye, some station themselves on cliffs and in trees at the best vantage points they can find.

The main force advances and get the first Processors into position, the air around them crackles and small rocks levitate as a bolt of Psy energy rips through the atmosphere and into the mountain.
The force of the blows has cause a mini avalanche, sending chunks of rock flying, sadly one of our Needlers stationed on a cliff is squished.
-1 Needler

They continue to pepper the mountain with Psy bolts, the guards carrying the Processors which have already fired to the back lines.

After the 3rd volley, you discover there is more than one entrance, as nearly a hundred stone doors swing open and the orcs begin pouring out, lucky some are blocked by falling rocks.

Further doors open higher up the mountain and the orcs begin firing blindly ahead of the charge.

I support this, but only if we stop at the 2nd bolt at most for each Processor, preferably only 1 (if there are still Processors that have not fired in this volley). We don't want to lose them.

Then let's have the ones with shots still left target the hill above the orc (unless they're well clear of it) and then pull back.

>not for long
It's something like 4-500 meters to our forces from the Mountain, is it not?
At a running speed of 15km/h, that would take... at least 2 minutes, so we can pull back at a reasonably good rate.

May also have misquoted the range of medieval cannons, it may be several times longer than 500 meters, but I have trouble finding a number on wikipedia.

Of course, as the GM, and the psi-bolt being a fictional construct of yours, you can simply say it will dissipate or something after a certain range.
>>
Rolled 99

With the mind power of 60 Processors in such close proximity, it didn't take long for them to realise retreat was the wisest option.

Those guards not carrying Processors are ordered immediately back to Needle Hive.

The Processors are taken into the skies by their Guard escourts and flanked by the remaining Needlers, a giant stone door swings open nearly half way up the mountain, an orc lunatic jumping up and down, shaking a large thick staff adorned in bells and other shiny trinkets comes into view. From the opening a fantastic rippling bolt of energy comes flying towards your ascending squad. Upon colliding with your squad, some of your needlers and prcoessors along with their carriers explode, sending gooey gore and chitin shrapnel flying.
-3 Needlers
-7 Processors
-7 Guards

The survivors speed off as quick as they can, taking a route away from their nest as to deter any followers, or watchers, from the location of their nest.

Back safely in Needle Hive, the Processors fill the hivelink with debate on what attacked them, after much discussion it is clear there way only one species that could use power of that nature.

The Prisoner Queen attacked them, but why and for what purpose?

Consensus reached:

After several days investigating their new Cattle, the Processors manage to discover how their steel-like Tusks were grown. Shortly afterwards, thanks to surgical psionic alteration of some glands and the ability to process more metals without succumbing to poisoning, the first insect able to turn arrows and even spears aside with its reinforced chitin stands ready to take the battle to the orc menace.

Though we mourn losses,
The Hive thrives and The Hive grows.
It's chitin is steel, and it's breath is fire.
The gaze of The Hive is death, and the orcs have caught its attention.

For Hivewide mutation
Our Queen and Processors have uncovered the secret to the incredible durability and strength of the Pyre Titan's Tusks. Using this knowledge the Queen and Processors send out an explosion of psyonic power that causes the entire hive to undergo a random shedding. Their new Titan Chitin is now as strong as Tungsten Carbide, able to turn aside most blades.

>>
>>29678538
I third this. I think that we could eventually use his ability to make a spymaster type of bug out of the needlers template. It would need to be both effective in combat and stealth and it would need to be sentient.
>>
>>29678260
Underground in Needle Hive, there is a faint pounding echo in the tunnels, the orcs are still running a muck, even now more come from the mountain.

Some of the processors go above ground with Guards and Firespitters to oversee them setting traps incase the orcs come this way.
Guards dig holes all around the vicinity of the hive, which the Spitters in turn fill up with lava from their sacs, they crudely cover them with earth and dirt, which the Processors refine and hide the trap from view.

They manage to set up just over a 100 of these traps before the processors order them back underground in fear of being seen.

I suggest something along the lines of creating ambush points in our tunnels so that we can kill the orcs if they somehow find a way into our tunnels before we decide to assault their search teams. Need to make sure the base is as secure as possible before we shake the orcs a bit more.

>>29679086
>>29679108
>>29679149
May I remind the gentlesects that the orcs are currently on a war-footing and actively looking for our hive?
Our forces were SPOTTED.

It is a matter of time before the battle is brought to our hive, and I would have us weake the enemy as much as possible before that time, which is why I suggested
>>29678984
>>
>>29679195
"Our Queen is strong! Stronger than our greatest warrior! She is DEATH INCARNATE! And she will never be unprotected"
>>
>>29679241
And yet any one of our Processors could wound her mortally.
She is to be protected, she is to be sated. The Hive cannot survive without her, and what she brings to the battlefield is something we can ultimately do without.

Even if she was truly as invulnerable as you seem to think, making a mount for her majesty is a long term project, and our Hive is threatened NOW.
>>
>>29679195
I understand this. We have superior units but I think using them in a more defensive way would be to our advantage. If we lead them into the tunnels that lead away from the hive we can take away their numbers advantage and slaughter them in ambushes. all it would take would be a single processor in a long hallway filled with orcs. He could take out 10-20 at a time and we could fill the tunnels like this. Firespitters could pop out behind them and poor lava down behind the orcs trapped in a dead end in the tunnels. Traps and guerrilla tactics would end the numbers advantage and cost us very little.
>>
>>29679356
Which is precisely why I'm recommending we do traps and guerilla tactics on the surface first, while the tunnels you speak of are being altered to be as defensible as you suggest.
>>
>>29679356
>"I find this to be the most logical plan. Orcs are stupid and greedy, they think not of traps and death."
>>
>>29679386
So something like Processors would be in valleys with firespitters up on cliffs the firespittters would drop lava down the sides forcing the orcs into a bottleneck and then blast them with the processors?
>>
>>29679389
I too agree with it, but those tunnels must be dug and altered, which takes time. We should also split them entirely from the main hive before risking such a thing.

In the meantime, we lose nothing by performing guerilla strikes upon them.
>>
>>29679407
Or more lava-pools covered by dust, while our Processors fire at them from afar. We have the range advantage. We can simply fire, and then withdraw before they locate our Processors.

And if they do, they will marsh right into lavapuddles.

But if the shamans are there, we risk them discovering the ambush before the orcs are between the two rows of warriors and firespitters.

The Earth Shamans have been but a minor set-back, Archivulon designs a master plan, instead of isolated smaller ambushes they will set a grand trap, leading the orcs into a giant tunnel with the swarm ready to burst from the walls and tunnels, unleashing psy bolts, lava, scythes and mandibles on them simultaneously.

Archivulon rearranges the tunnels to his liking with amazing efficiency, all present Processors look in awe, the Lord not even requiring one of their assistance.

As the trap is set and about to be sprung, reinforcements arrive from Home Hive & Needles Hives Incubation chambers, the Hivesplitters have hatched their eggs.

The Processors open a giant hole in the ground and battle frenzied orcs begin pouring into the tunnels once more, as the chamber fills, the entrance is closed behind them and they are left in darkness. The orcs shout and make warchants, then the trap is sprung.
Lava baths the orcs from the ceilings, those running back from where they entered looking for the hole are greeted by a wave of lava also.
The reamining orcs rally, the chamber faintly lit by the spewed lava, as they ready to charge, Archivulon and the Processors let loose a tremendous volley of Psy bolts, sending orcs bodies and parts flying, the orcs charge towards the Processors only to be met with a Psy Bombard, turning some of the front line into a pile of broken bones under it force.

The surviving orcs run around looking for a way out, as they scratch at the walls for an escape, The terrorguard flanked by the guard burst from the walls and start mutilating all in site, some brave orcs fight back in their final moments, a few even earning a proud death by their standards, killing our children.
