Stellar Object 568-II, an asteroid in the middle of empty space, a hunk of rock somewhere on the route between Earth and Porox-IV,

presumably made up of a few different types of rock, some coal, maybe iron, maybe silicon, and probably a bunch of other unexciting

minerals. Nothing to write home about, really.

Well, somehow you convinced MinCorp to send you down anyways. We dont know whats down there, you said. Could be unexpected wealths of

minerals, maybe wholly new ones, who knows, space is weird like that. Noone will find out if we dont go down there.

And so you got dropped off from a passing freighter of the Corporation, with a crew of four(including you) in a short ranged shuttle

outfitted with life support systems for a semi self sustaining small outpost on some inhospitable rock, like 568-II is. A name that

doesnt roll well off the tongue, you realize.
>You'll give it a better one.
Now you'll have to build up your station (the purpose of which you still havent quite decided on - research or mining, production or

export, or maybe just make it a self sustained colony, a little garden eden on barren wastelands or a military space station, a harbor

for mercinaries? You will see.) up on the asteroid, deciding on what to spend your limited rescourses and how to develop it.

But all in due time. First of all, lets decide where to land your shuttle, which will be the humble beginning and first building of

what is going to develope here.

So...

You decide to name the asteroid Chiron, if for no symbolic character, then just because it rolls off the tongue well.
Day: 1
>Recourses: 20
>Crew: 4 (2 Engineers, 1 Mineralogist, 1 Expedition leader)
>Rations:16 (max pop: 4)

In daring fashion you bring the modified shuttle down on the valley next to the highest peak, and let down the ladder to the rocky surface, on which the

craft is already attaching itself with hydraulic legs, the life support systems hitting into full gear. The instruments are telling you

what you already know about Chiron: atmosphere practically nonexistence, gravity minimal, although freakishly high for a

celestial body of this size.

With you two containers worth of building material have come down to the asteroid, as well as a motorized drilling vehicle. The base

camp, that is the shuttle can produce oxygen effectively for four months, you have rations for only one, but theoretically more food

should be coming in before that. Your number one priority now should be expanding your camp with the first building, which naturally

will be...

Yeah, right, what WILL it be? What building do you wanna cosntruct? Or do you start digging into the asteroid right off the bat?

You have started constructing an Electrolysis-facility, (for which you should roll now (and I will only take the best of the first two rolls from now on)). Building site is, as by the expedition leader declared, near the Hydroponics-Facility but you cunningly leave some layers of rock from the asteroid between them, if things should go south…

We need to think about weapons. We are in space after all, and I would assume a lack of oxygen, so explosions aren't as effective and therefor a bullet from a conventional gun won't do so well I think. But I do agree with the security specialist, and the situation permits it fairly soon.

With the lack of any profit bearing activities I doubt we'd get more than a narcoleptic lard-ass security guard. And flamethrowers in enclosed enviroments or space will not end well.

Oh yeah, I funded that. Been waiting for an update for quite a while now. Has a lot of potential though.

>>
>>29728660
I stand corrected on this. Modern ammunition has its own oxidizer, so guns can fire in space. Let's call in at least some handguns, hopefully some rifles. And cleaning kits for them, let's keep these weapons functional.
>>
>>29728604
>>29728635

All personnel should get weapons and some self-defence training at one point
>>
>>29728728
I have an image in my head of our miners drilling pirate invaders to death.

>>29728774
Our personnel could probably use some combat training. Untrained personnel firing guns in a space base is a recipe for disaster.
>>
>>29728788

Why are they even on a hazardous space exploration mission if they don't have self-defense training?

And do we actually have guns for the crew? An inventory of what we've got in stock in terms of tools, guns and general equipment would be good.
>>
>>29728720
>Oh yeah, I funded that. Been waiting for an update for quite a while now. Has a lot of potential though.

It does but early backed games seem to get perpetually stuck in half-finished alpha stages so I never fund these projects no matter how great they seem.

Played the cracked version for a while, it was great till the content ran dry. I will probably buy it once it comes out.
>>
Ok, so we want to continue the construction.
Get a security specialist down here to give us some combat training.
leave that damn hole alone until we get some weapons. Yes?
>>
Would it be possible for us to get a contract with some defence contractors/mercenaries in the area? Or are we too far away from everything for that to be viable.

If possible I think that would be most cost-effective defence solution for now. We should also get an on site security specialist and some firearms of course.

That sums it up nicely.

The Freighter “Red Walrus” from MinCorp is taking a small stop at Chiron, as announced.
The Captains scruff voice greets you on the intercom and tells you they have the resources the Board of MinCorp has assigned to you.

On the freighter there are a few disposable employees from MinCorp as well as one bearded mercenary in full combat gear who hitchhikes on the freighter.

Your station supports two new people (or so you tell the captain - food is still a bit low, you only get enough rations for 4 again.)

You have the choice between:

>Mercinary Archibald Gruff (Soldier)
>Dr. Martha Clay (Botanist)
>Ben Gann (Engineer)
>Dr.Med. Owen Hunt (Doctor)

Also special gear is available on the freighter

There are:

>A gunturret
>Shuttle parts
>A crate of weapons
>a welding torch of huge proportions
>A ground transporting Vehicle

The freighter departs but schedules a visit again next month, although the Captain advises you to be able to present some progress then, or there will be a reaction from The Board of MinCorp.

As you further look into the goods you just received, you stumble upon a strange, grey, crate that you have no memory requesting.

Your Botanist manages to grow some rudimentary fruits and edible vegetables, but without a steady supply of water, it will not increase in size. Also the water-reserves you had left are almost used up. Anyhow you gain +1 Ration each week.
Meanwhile you Waste-Disposal-Unit completes and you start building living-quarters.
For the Weapons-Crate a high security storage room is constructed for no cost.
Archibald decided to help explore the cave with his new colleague because there was no room for him to train.

You finish the filtration system (resources -3), it allows you to keep going without suffering from dehydration all too soon. (Maybe I’ll include a water-supply and consume system the next time)
For now you are just happy that you don’t die from thirst. Although this new Water filtration System is in addition to the hydroponicsfacility using up more energy than the small solar panel can handle.
You will have to switch off one of those (or some energy consuming thing) in the next week, or create more energy. Otherwise you will face a base-wide energy failure.

Also you finished the new quarters. They are looking good. (Resources -2)
