ROSTER AND STATS: http://pastebin.com/AgTjNxdm
FACILITIES: http://pastebin.com/5Fk5p19Y

You are the PRODUCER, a former soldier hired to manage a group of teenage girls on their rise to stardom, assuming they don't get killed in the process!

It's already been a week since you and your idols engaged the delinquents loitering around the Delta City Mall. Thankfully, you seem to have intimidated them enough that none have come back, and in return the mall manager helped open up a performance slot for you at the mall's open stage. This could be the big break you were looking for!

As such, you've been focusing your idols on memorizing the set list. Ushiyama had his work cut out for them, but by the end of the week the girls at least did not look like drunken rhinos trying to knife fight each. Progress, you guess.

>Julie, Rochelle, and Cole have learned Dancing 1!

However, that didn't mean there weren't any problems to take care of. Right now, you were looking at your idols' latest physicals. Rin and Cole were in good health, and Julie only had a few bruises that still hadn't quite gone away. However, your biggest issue was Rochelle. She took a few bad hits during the fight with the delinquents, and ended up with three broken ribs. Looking at the reports, you see that her ribs had mostly been healed, but you were hearing conflicting reports from Ushiyama that Rochelle was visibly lagging behind in practices. This was a huge concern, because the performance was scheduled to take place in a few days, and there was the real possibility that Rochelle would have to be cut from it if she couldn't pull her weight.

You think about waiting till the last minute, but you remember that the current choreography was set up assuming all the girls were present. If you cut her now, you'd still have enough time to modify the dances...

It seems the Idols of Clover Entertainment have successfully defeated the gangers of Delta City Mall and are now planning a concert. Normally, this would be no problem as we hire gangs to stake out an are through our subsidiary branches as a way to measure an Idol company's strength.
The real concern from this is the fact that the idol known as "Cole" has gained a sense of "morality". Here to discuss her newfound morality, Dr. Rotsneatitpierce.

(Cont'd)

Before joining Clover Entertainment, Cole was fighting for survival in the Tombs where she survived by trusting nobody but herself, essentially becoming, and pardon my language, "a selfish b-[guitar riff]". But now with comrades and a basic understanding of teamwork, she has gained a sense of morality via empathy.
Had she not taken teamwork training under the tutelage of "The Producer", things would have turned out very differently during the fight.
The ability to tell right from wrong combined her anti-authoritarian attitude can lead to devestating consequences. Her fans would see her as a champion of the disenfranchised, rallying them together and becoming a force that armies around the world cannot stop by drowning them with sheer numbers!
With Cole as the Queen of the Swarm, the masses will easily follow!

TRAITS:
Lightning: Cole has the power to control and manipulate electricity. As she increases her proficiency or INT, she will discover new applications for her power.
Thundershock: Cole can performe a ranged or melee attack, even when unarmed.

I thought it was important to have the counselor establish a relationship with the idols early on, so she would be better able to figure out if the idols were putting on a front.

Plus, the physical part of doctoring is much easier to automate than the psychological; docs are pretty much very well-trained auto mechanics.

You decide to consult the AutoDoc first. It might not exactly be the smartest thing around, but it was capable of making objective observations, which was about all the good it could do other than take x-rays and dispense pills.

"AutoDoc." You say, grabbing the wall mounted machine's attention. "Summarize information for Patient Rochelle Wade."

"SEARCHING." The AutoDoc rumbles. "DATA FOUND. PATIENT ROCHELLE WADE SUFFERING FROM THREE BROKEN RIBS AND MINOR INTERNAL BLEEDING. SUGGESTED TREATMENT IS REST AND AVOIDANCE OF STRENUOUS PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FOR TWO TO THREE WEEKS."

"And if instructions are not followed?" You ask.

"DISTINCT POSSIBILITY OF RIBS HEALING INCORRECTLY OR EVEN BREAKING AGAIN."

Hmmm, you frown. that didn't sound good at all.

Or maybe it's because the setting is a Cyberpunk society that most people think a human doctor is moot, since they were running under the assumption that, being the future, automated medical science and biomedical technologies surely surpass a human touch, and that we could simply slap Medi-Gel/Biofoam/Not-Bacta on anything.

>>
>>29788153
To be fair, 99% of the time, doctors are glorified auto mechanics, and rarely have to stretch their intellect. The biggest problem with automating medicine is that human doctors are far superior at dealing with bullshit from patients, and convincing them "yes, these pills will help. Take them."

Your next stop is the dance studio. None of the girls are scheduled to practice here right now, so the room is empty with the exception of Ushiyama. He's waring earphones, and with his eyes clothes, seems to be scribbling notes and sketches on a notepad, as if he's visualizing what movements to make to match the music.

"Um, excuse me, Ushiyama, but can we speak for a moment?" You say, making sure to speak a little louder to overcome his earphones.

"Oh, Producer." Ushiyama turns off this music. "I assume you're here about Rochelle?"

"That's right." You nod. "How did you know?"

"Please, ever since that field trip, I can tell she was struggling with her lessons." Ushiyama says in a huff. "I'm impressed she was able to make it this far with broken ribs, but I have no desire to see a promising idol destroy herself before she hits her peak."

"You've seen this happen before?" You frown.

"Many, many times." Ushiyama sighs. "I've seen idols try to get through dances with broken legs, sprained ankles, spine injuries, and worse. Most of these end in various ways, and too many, far too many result in the idol crippling herself for life."

"Why would they do that?" You blink.

"I just teach idols to dance, not to think." Ushiyama shrugs. "Speak to Lillith about those matters. But if you want my opinion? Bench Rochelle, at least until she's fully healed. It'll be a simple matter for me to modify the choreography for three idols instead of four."

You head down to Lillith's office. Perhaps your counselor could help shed some light on things.

"Rochelle?" Lilith blinks when you ask her what she knows of the girl. "Well, I've only talked to her a little, but most of what I know is from her file."

"Okay, but what I really want to know is what happens if I bench her? Psychologically, at least."

"Hmmmm, that is quite troublesome." Lillith frowns. "And the fact this would be her debut performance makes it even worse. She'd be under a lot of pressure to perform well, and just cutting her out would communicate to her that she's not good enough, regardless of whether that was your intention or not. "

"Is it that serious?" You blink.

"Well, it depends on the mental health of the particular idol, but I'm sure Rochelle is tough enough to take the hit to her ego, at least just this once." Lillith sighs. "But, considering how she performed rather poorly in the ambush on those mall ruffians, she'll think any decision you make will be based on that failure."

"So... do you have any suggestions?"

"Other than benching her? I'd say give her something to do to distract her. A side job or something that will make feel she's contributing. That should mitigate any emotional damage she might feel."

"Thanks, I'll figure something out." You grin.

As you leave the hall, you phone rings, and seeing that the caller is Jenner, immediately answer it.

"Sure thing, I'll be right there." You say as you rush down to the garage. Once to get down, you see Jenner unloading several boxes from the van.

"Are these it?" You say, looking at the boxes.

"That's right. All specifically sized for our idols." Jenner nods. "There's actually two versions. The first one is pretty decent, but the second version is... a bit racy."

"Huh?" You blink.

"Here, I'll show you." Jenner rips one of the boxes open and takes out a costume. "Here's the first one."

Well, it didn't look too bad. It was a green and white costume consisting of a short sleeved, form fitting shirt and a skirt that ended just above the knees. It was a serviceable, if not modest and safe, design.

"And here's the other one."

Jenner takes out a second costume, and you can immediately see the difference. The shirt has basically been shrunken, with the collar line lowered to show off more of the wearer's chest, and the bottom raised up to expose the wearer's midriff. The skirt was shortened as well, barely reaching halfway down the thigh.

"You can understand my reservations about the second costume." Jenner says flatly.

Well, you're pretty sure the more revealing costume was bound to get attention, but then again, you were pretty sure your idols weren't going to like it.

"So which one will we be using for the performance?" Jenner asks.

While true up to a point, we'll need a Mikimiki eventually. You just can't have a major idol production company without at least one or two on hand that can turn the sex appeal up to 11.

"The modest one, no debate." You say quickly.

"Good choice." Jenner nods approvingly. "I'll uh, 'properly dispose' of the other set, then."

"Also, Jenner, I need to talk to you about something." You say.

"Yes?"

"I'm actually thinking of benching Rochelle from the performance. I don't want to risk making her injury worse."

"Understandable." Jenner nods. "What's the problem, then?"

"Well, I don't just want to leave her at the office to stew. Shouldn't there be like, something she can do that will make feel like she's contributing?"

"Hmmmm..." Jenner puts a hand to her chin. "We could always put her on overwatch duty. I don't really expect anything major to happen, but the extra security would be nice and she'd have something to do. Oh yes, and there's that photo shoot we promised to Marc, to help promote his story. Since we'll be at the mall anyways, I'm sure we could send Rochelle over. She seems to be the most into Marc's merchandise anyways."

"Huh, those aren't bad ideas. Thanks, Jenner."

"That's my job."

Well, you suppose you'll have to talk to Rochelle now.

You make your way up to the dorms and knock on her door. Rochelle then answers the door.

You then jab Rochelle in the ribs lightly, causing her to flinch and wince and pain.

"You are NOT totally fine, Rochelle. You're not going onto a stage until you're 100%. Is that clear, soldier?"

"Y-es sir." Rochelle mumbles, obviously down.

"Hey, don't take it so bad. There's plenty of other things you can do." You say reassuringly. "Like, handling security, in case something goes bad. And you remember Marc? We also got a job with him, too!"

"W-well, I guess it's better than sitting here doing nothing...." Rochelle sighs.

"So, which job would you prefer?" You ask.

You decide to go check up on the girls. However, as you're heading up to the dorms, you hear a very, VERY loud racket coming from the common room. Curious, you pick up the pace, and see all four of your girls sitting around the TV playing video games.

"So I guess this is your way of handling the anxiety?" You grin as you approach.

"Ha ha, I guess." Rochelle chuckles. "It was sort of my idea. I mean, we were all getting pretty nervous, though Cole and Julie were having it the worst!"

"I'm just so excited and nervous at the same time!" Julie shudders. "I'm not sure how to feel!"

"I'm not scared." Cole grunts unconvincingly.

"You totally are! You totally about to cry!" Rochelle grins evilly.

"S-S-SHUT UP OR I'LL FRY YOUR STUPID GAME!" Cole whines.

"Hey! It's vintage!" Rochelle blubbers. "I'll smack your staticy ass if you damage it!"

"Don't worry, I used to feel like this ALL THE TIME before auditions, but you get used to it." Rin adds in.

Meanwhile, K-Zwolf, who is just lounging in the back of the room, raises its head to see what's going on, and seeing that Rochelle wasn't in any particular danger, lowers its head and goes back to "sleep".

Dude, it's Goldeneye splitscreen, not ARMA. If we're gonna start drilling the girls on maneuvers/CQC, let's try to use a better medium than the N64. Maybe airsoft? If we still have friends in the service, we could ask if we could use some of their training facilities on a nearby base, maybe have the local infantry unit play both instructor and Opfor!
>>
>>29791588

There's a difference between Arma, and giving complete rookies basic gaming and situational awareness advice.

THATS what i was more aiming for.

People don't often look up, or down, and forget about other things in their inventory.

Cole especially could benefit from Noobies Introduction To Gaming, considering she's never ever actually played a handheld, much less a console before.

"Sure, lowest score will have to give up her controller." Rochelle says.

"Since when was that a rule?" Cole asks.

"That was ALWAYS the rule, you Philistine." Rochelle rolls her eyes.

"Now now, I think Cole's just mad because she's the one losing right now!" Julie chuckles.

"Heh, it's kinda cute how she keeps running around in circles, huh?" Rin joins in.

"I-I'll show all of you!" Cole cries.

Well, it was pretty clear that Rochelle and Julie were dominating the game. Considering Rochell's experience and Julie's natural aptitude for games, you weren't too surprised. At this point, it came down to whether Cole or Rin would end up the loser. In fact, it comes alarmingly close, but Cole manages to edge ahead of Rin by one kill after Rin blindly blunders straight into her line of fire.

And Cole had a rocket launcher.

"Awwww, I was never good at these sort of games." Rin grumbles.

"You know the rules, Rin." Rochelle says. "Hand it over."

"Good luck, Producer. I'll be rooting for you!" Rin says as she hands you the controller.

You'd be lying if you said you hadn't ever dabbled in games. In fact. you played quite a few when you were a kid, and they were a great time waster in the army when you were just sitting around in base. However, you were completely unfamiliar with this absolutely ancient system. After a quick run through of the controls with Rochelle's help, you go to character selection.

Well, you've never seen or played Goldeneye before, so the only character you really knew was James Bond. However, Julie manages to snipe him away from you, so you're left blindly searching through the character list.

"Huh, I guess I'll try this 'Oddjob' guy." You muse to yourself.

"WHO PICKED ODDJOB?!?" Rochelle bellows. "I'M GONNA STRANGLE YOU."

>>29792921
Unfortunately, you realize too late that the point of the game was to get kills, which you can't exactly get by sitting in the corner. Rather than run blindly into your mines, they're content to just starting blowing each other up.

With your hand forced, you kill yourself trying to run past your own mines and die a few more times due to the spawn points simply being littered with mines. The whole game turns into an explosive slugfest, and you do pretty well, but the lead the girls picked up over you proves to be insurmountable.

"Ah, guess I sort of misjudged what would happen." You sigh as you return the controller to Rin.

"Well, that's what campers get!" Rochelle grins. "But still, it was fun, even if you did choose Oddjob."

"Lesson learned." You laugh and shake your head. "Anyways, be sure to sleep early, girls. We've got a big day tomorrow."

"Sure thing, Producer!" They all say.

---

And just like that, it's already time for the performance. You're with Rin, Julie, and Cole in one of the mall's prep rooms. They're already changed into their costumes, and their time slot is about to come up. Plus, you were lucky enough to nab a weekend slot, so there's TONS of people out there.

You see your idols trying to deal with their anxiety, though in different ways. Rin just closes her eyes and takes some deep breaths. Julie keeps reciting her memorized song lyics, while Cole just keeps fidgeting uncontrollably.

You clap your hands loudly to grab your idols' attention.

"Listen up, girls, this is, our very first performance!" You say. "We've been practicing and training relentlessly for the past few weeks to prepare for this, so I believe... no... I KNOW that you can all do this! Remember your training, and you will get through this! Remember this moment and cherish it, because I guarantee you, someday in future, you're going to be on a world tour or doing the Superbowl halftime show, and you're going to look back on this moment and go 'heh.'"

This seems to bring up your idols' spirits somewhat.

"We'll do our best, Producer" Rin grins.

"Yeah, and if they don't like us, I'll punch them in a face!" Julie nods.

"Heh, you almost make it sound fun." Cole smiles wryly.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" You hear the intercom blare. "Please give a round of applause for the idols of Clover Entertainment!"

"That's the signal, girls! Go go go!" You yell.

Putting on their performance faces, the girls rush out to the stage, smiling and waving. There's some sporadic applause, but for the most part the shoppers are just walking past the stage, more concerned with their day's shopping rather than the idols on the stage. Hopefully that would change.

The first song up was "Starfall Stream", pretty much a novice piece. It wasn't too special, but it was simple to learn and dance to. Of course, most of the focus was on Rin, with Julie and Cole hanging back to support her.

Rin manages to hit the notes and the moves. Due to the size of the stage and the choreography, she doesn't actually have to do that much moving around, so she can really focus on the music while Julie and Cole provide backup.

By the time the song is finished, there's a slight crowd milling around the stage, and you notice a few passersby taking pictures. Looks like it was working.

Normally, the plan was to just do one song ever few minutes to give the girls a break, since they would be performing throughout the day. However, you feel you've gotten your claws into the shoppers, and you don't want to risk losing them.

"Hello everybody! Thank you for listening to our song!" Rin says happily. "We'll be here throughout the entire day if you want to hear us again!"

There's some sporadic applause, but it's noticeably stronger than before.

"And remember, if you're interested in us, just search for Clover Entertainment!" Rin continues and gives a teasing wink.

"OH MY GOD." Cole gasps as she finally steps off stage. "I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE OUT THERE."

"The song wasn't THAT hard." Julie frowns, wiping some sweat off her brow.

"No, I just get kinda freaked out when lots of people start staring at me." Cole coughs.

"Well, as an idol, that's a good thing!" Rin says reassuringly.

"Where I come from, getting stared at means you were about to get beaten up." Cole grumbles.

"Well, you made it through just fine!" Rin pats Cole on the head. "Just do what you just did in the next song and we'll pull through!"

"Good job, girls. We'll be back up in five minutes." You say.

"Hey Jenner, let's switch off. Mind keeping an eye on the girls?"

"Sure, I'll be right there." Jenner responds.

"Alright girls, I'm going to go check on Rochelle." You inform them. "You want me to tell her anything?"

"Yeah, tell her to knock em dead!" Cole nods.

"Tell her to do her best!" Rin nods.

"And that she looks way hotter with a gun than any other accessory." Julie adds in.

"I'll be sure to tell her that." You laugh. You then see Jenner enter the room.

"Rochelle's pretty much acting as Marc's mascot right now. It's actually really amusing to watch." Jenner gives a slight grin. "You should see it at least once."

"Thanks, I will." You nod. "Okay girls, just keep it together. Do things just like you did on that first song and you'll do fine!"

You then exit the back room, trusting Jenner to handle things in your stead. You head over to Marc's store, where you see a small crowd gathering. Sure enough, you see Rochelle, decked out in one Marc's military outfits with K-Zwolf in heavy support mode, showing off all the cool guns.

Rochelle seems to be doing her best, showing passing shoppers some of Marc's wares while K-Zwolf sits loyally at her side.

"T-this here is the Magsec." Rochelle says, holding up a pistol. Instead of gunpowder, it uses electrical impulses to fire 9mm at high velocity. Has semi automatic and three round burst fire modes and comes with a built in 2x scope! Yours, if you want it!"

"And um, " Rochelle brings out another gun, an SMG this time. "T-this is the Cyclone! 50 round magazine, with full automatic fire! Guaranteed to clear an entire room in seconds! Yours, if you want it!"

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem she's able to grab the attention of the shoppers. You think part of the problem is that she's just not showing enough confidence, which is why people were ignoring her. Julie then sees you watching her and she pauses, taking a deep breath.

Again, Julie only seems to have middling success grabbing shoppers' attention. At this point, Marc comes out and waves Rochelle to come inside the store, and you decide to follow her in.

"Boy, tough crowd." You say.

"I know!" Rochelle sigh. "Doesn't help that I sort of locked up out there. I mean, talking to friends is one thing, but large numbers of complete strangers? Totally different."

"Well, you can't win them all." You shrug. "Though I thought you were only supposed to be doing a photo shoot."

"Well, Marc had to grab his camera so he sent me and K-Zwolf out front to try and attract customers." Rochelle shrugs. "Not too big of a deal."

"I see." You nod.

Marc then returns with a camera in hand.

"Okay, we're just going to take a few glamour shots. Pick any weapon off the shelf and just pose with it however you want. Casual carry, battle mode, anything will work!"

You watch as Rochelle does various poses with various weapons. In a few, she does a shot with K-Zwolf either loyally sitting be her side, or doing more "dynamic" poses such as leaping in midair or howling. One pretty amusing one is Rochelle posing to try and fire a K-Zwolf while it pounces on her.

"Good, good, these will make excellent posters and ad space!" Marc grins. "Thank you so very much. If you have any need for more weapons, you know where to look!"

"Well, I can't say it wasn't a learning experience." Rochelle sighs.

"Come on, Rochelle, let's go check out how th others are doing." You say.

"Sure!" Rochelle nods and turns to the counter. "Alright, I'm going! Bye Mr. Marc!"

With that, the two of you make your way to the stage, with K-Zwolf dutifully following you, though he seemed to be drawing his fair share of attention due to the fact of being a robot dog armed to the teeth.

As for the show itself, it looks like the Idols weren't doing too bad. There was quite a crow around the stage and they were cheer pretty loud as Rin, Julie, and Cole begin showing off their moves as the pace of the song starts to pick up.

"Um, Sir, we might have a problem." Rochelle nudges you and points to the crowd.

Mingled with the shoppers, you can see some very familiar faces. A couple of those were the delinquents you had beaten up! However, while you had no qualms fighting these delinquents, you did have problems about doing so in public, which was not exactly the smartest thing to do.

To be honest, I think we should change the default loadout. It's role is defensive in nature, reducing the need for recon, and there are a lot of situations where greater combat skill is likely to come into play. It can't hurt to have a heavy hitter on the team after all, especially since we don't have any other heavy hitters.

Rochelle starts to charge forward, but you put a hand on her shoulder to hold her back. No sense starting a commotion here now. Best to just stand back and wait and see what they're up to.

Finally, the idols finish up their current song. As usual, they do a little post-song thank you, and the delinquents start to move up the stage. You start to tense up and are ready to move in when the delinquents reach into their pockets...

...and take out pens and pieces of paper as they clamor for autographs from Cole.

Wait, what?

It seems Cole is just as confused as you are, and just gives them a funny look before bending down and fulfilling their request.

"Thanks a lot!" One of the delinquents beams.

"Yeah, you were really awesome! Nobody's ever beaten me up like that before!"

"WE'RE TOTALLY GOING TO START A FAN CLUB!"

Cole just sort of laughs nervously as she tries to comprehend just what the hell is going on.

With that little piece of business over, the show continues to go on.

By the time the day is out, your idols seem to have picked up quite an audience. They weren't exactly bringing the building down, but you could tell that people were definitely starting to talk about Clover Entertainment now. With any luck that awareness would filter out to other venues.
