You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

The only issue at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

You're finally awake... though everything still kind of hurts, you're back in one piece at the very least.

After paying the Princess a visit, you hung out with Reya for a little while before heading down to the arena's side entrance to meet up with Agnes.

>Sorry, but you've been stripped down to the rank of DOG!
>Though dogs are loyal, they're not all that smart...
>Though she still considers you her friend, she thinks a little less of you... and also herself.
>And while dogs are man's best friend, they still don't count as people.

"I was thinking about going to see how Nicoette was doing," you say.
"She went back to the castle with Rana and Melanie, remember?" Sylvie says. And then we were all going to have dinner together... if you still wanted to, anyways."
"Oh yeah, it completely slipped my mind," you reply. "Then I guess I'll go and see if my grandmother's back with that sword she said she was going to lend me..."
"Grandma time, huh?" Reya nods. "I know how that is, so I doubt you want me to hold you up any longer... see you later, man!"

The three of you leave the booth together, though you part ways pretty early on since Reya's on his way to visit his cousin and the entrance that leads to the place where she's staying is in a different direction from the side entrance that you're assuming that Agnes will be taking.

You end up following Sylvie this time, as you have no idea where anything is here in the arena. It's all pretty straightforward though, and you make it to the side exit before long.

Just in time to see a carriage pull up... and Citrine come rushing out.

"Hi, Reinhold!" Citrine shouts as she scurries to your side. "You're just in time, we came back as quickly as we could!"
"Dammit Citrine, you need to quit running off like that!" Marius shouts as he approaches. "You're pregnant now, so you really ought to be more careful..." he sighs as he helps Agnes over to where the rest of you are standing.
"Crap, I keep forgetting that I can't keep on like I usually do," Citrine says, shrinking back as if she was a small child who had just been scolded.

After Agnes lets go of Marius, he carefully hands her a long, rectangular bundle. Though the old lady seems to struggle a bit to support its weight, she's able to carry it over to you without much issue.

"This is pretty similar to the sword you were using... but I want you to be EXTRA CAREFUL with it, you hear?" Agnes says as she places the bundle in your hands. "Chances are that this thing's older than anyone in either of our countries' castles aside from Celestino and Guillaume."

"Um, I don't know what to say..." you mumble as you remove the cloth from around Agnes's old dueling sword. You then examine the blade and test out the weight, and are surprised by just now incredibly NICE this thing is.

Actually, it's probably -too- nice to just hand over to someone like you.

"Should you really be giving me something with as much sentimental value as this, though?" you ask. "I mean, I know I picked up some of Volker's bad habits, and I can't exactly guarantee that I'll be able to keep it safe..."
"Don't worry about, you don't have -all- of Volker's bad traits," Agnes says. "As long as you don't go around banging my sword against slabs of rock, there shouldn't be anything to worry about."

"Then I promise that I shall not do anything as dumb as that," you say as you salute your grandmother... and then pull her into a hug (taking care to hold the sword out of the way, of course).
