It started with a message that spread across every electronic device on the planet. Glowing words that declared that humanity needed to prepare for a coming change. Three days later, the skies lit up with auroras of seemingly impossible colors. And echoing across the globe was a voice that no man could make. It declared that all those who had visited the website known as 4chan in the past three months were to be vacated from the planet as punishment for a crime that humanity had committed. The poor fools were given the option of carrying two hundred pounds of gear or, as an act of mercy, were allowed to take one person(and only one) and one hundred pounds of supplies for the both of them.

Those dogged survivors were given ten minutes as a wave roared across the world, swallowing them up in a curtain of light, never to be seen again...Only to seemingly in the next instant wake up upon another world.

Now exiled to a world so far from home that nothing remains the same, they are forced to scrape out a living upon a wild, untamed planet under an alien star.

Lenore is an ancient collective writing thread. It isn't a Quest thread; it predates them. You join with the premise that you've been dumped on an alien world given only ten minutes to prepare beforehand. Though we're all kidnapped at the same time we do not arrive at the same time. Seven previous waves have appeared before you, lived, died, and built civilizations. You arrive fresh and new to this place.

Attached is the Newbie Guide PDF. There's also a LOT of additional information, collected in this file:
http://depositfiles.com/files/h34cg7y8x

Consider those a reference, not required reading. Skim the newbie guide first, but after that just have fun!

We do have an IRC for you to ask questions or discuss events where writers cross over.

This is the /tg/ region of this new world. Feel free to start your own city in it. Although it may look like there are a lot of cities our area is the size of Brazil; there's plenty of jungle for you to get lost in.

/tg/ is divided into two major civilizations. The Confederacy, a powerful unified group of city-states that respect human rights, and the Fedorans, a small empire that definitely do not.

You needn't join either should you decide to write a settlement (keep in mind the Fedorans WILL lose, so it's best not to join them), and you can write for other regions. Just remember, what alien artifacts exist are alien high tech; there is no magic. Try to keep things grounded in gritty (though not grim) realism.

----

For existing writers: Some new guidelines have been implemented.

1: One major Ethereal artifact per writer. I.E. builder lances, alchemists, the Postmod's Hammer, etc. A city might have a mechsuit or two (with their usual limitations) and of course some dwarves and/or gnomes. No human artifacts, new major artifacts should be discussed in the IRC prior to implementing them to be sure they work in and do not break the setting.

2: Please discuss fights with other writers in the IRC, decide on the outcome you want between the two of you and then write up a one or two post summary. Some of the fights have been dragging on entirely too long.

Camp Sammael is, as I write this, no longer in the hands of the DWA.
The details on what exactly happened are unclear but the information we got from the Constables who escaped from the Camp has given us some insight into how it all went down.

Apparantly the pair of troublemakes who had escaped, the ones responsible for injuring a pair of constables when they broke into the barracks, had managed to slip back into the camp under the cover of night and find shelter in the Camp, presumably with their former house group. After they rallied some support they started a riot in the camp during mealtime catching both the guards, the staff and about half the camp completely by suprise. The constables on duty tried to restore order but were overwhelmed by the number of rioters. From that we have one confirmed death, Constable George Hennerson, struck down by an axe blow to the temple. The other constables helped withdraw the staff to safety in the main camp building by the gate or retreated to the barracks where they proceded to empty the weapons boxes, arm themselves and then move to the main building.

Atleast one of these groups was attacked by the rioters as well and it would seem that they have their hands on twenty mars pattern rifles and double that in messer swords. The staff and constables in the main house tried to hole up after sending a couple of runners to Abaddon but only lasted a short while longer as the rioters practically laid siege to the building. They made a break out by shooting a bunch of rounds into the air to clear a path and ringed by Constables on Scale Wolves the combined DWA members, constable and camp staff, fled from Camp Sammael. I suppose I should happy the rest of the weapons were evacuated by the constables and that all earth gear is stored at Abaddon.

But now we have a camp of almost a thousand, including several of my people, held hostag by a bunch of malcontents who now have firearms and proper weapons. Not good, not good at all.

Well. This is going to be a significant test of our capability to handle issues. I'm leaving the solution in Lucky's hands. Will we resolve it quickly and bloodily? Mostly bloodlessly?

As far as I'm concerned it's fine to be as brutal as possible. This sort of thing needs stamped out. People who can't handle a few weeks in a camp and refuse to take exile are just raiders in the making.

It would be easy to think of these people as poor confused victims, but they are definitely not. They've been given plenty of options and refused help.

If necessary I'll call in direct military force to intervene, but that's likely to damage the DWA's credibility politically. I want them to resolve it if at all possible.

It remains to be seen if they can.

Ave Draconis,
To My Lord, Forge Master Rodrigo,

It's being a week since I arrived at the Estuary of what we are calling the Pearl river. I brought with me twenty serfs and fifty volunteering Yeoman, and we start building what will be the future Barony of Pearl River. In the wagon pulled by the serfs, I carried here a flame that was taken from the forges of Dragonfire in the Keep, and with it, I lit the first fire of this community, that shall burn forever. Currently it sits sheltered of the elements inside a tent, but around it we are building a tower that the Serfs started calling Tower of Embers.
We are building earth works, and later will include a moat and a palisade, so this settlement can serves its appropriated function: A first fortress to alert the countryside about Ykings incursions, that enter the Bay of Dragons through the straits in the northm and hopefully fend them off or at least delay them. Besides choosing a high hill near the stuary and building the defenses, I also plan devastating the jungle around the settlement to make sure we can control visually the area. I write this missive to put your lordship up to date on my efforts, e requisite the permission to grant the Order and Knighthood to five more men, so that they may help me protect this place, as thirty yeoman alone, whoever fierce they may be, will prove little to fend of the raiders from the sea.

Waiting to hear from you,
Your Loyal vassal
Ordained Knight Nymeria, Baroness of Pearl River.
>>
>>29880784
Ave Draconis,

My dear Ladyship, Baroness Nymeria of Pearl River. I write in name of Lord Rodrigo, and hope this letter finds you well whenever it may reach you. The coast trail to Pearl River is quite dangerous, although it avoids the beasts that lurk in the red jungle, the coast is never safe, specially on days where the weather is so calm as it has being. Our Lordship Forge Master Rodrigo has decided that we do not have the spare steel to craft the swords necessary to arm five new knights, and without the steel sword, there is no way they can belong in the order. But he knows some tasks should not be done by serfs or Yeoman, as has therefore instructed you to grant the title of ten candidates of your choosing, and until a moment were we can spare the resources to arm them, they shall consider themselves in trial. Watch closely not just for courage and strength, but also for the virtues of the heart: Charity, Humility Selflessness, Honour and Mercy. Only by exhibiting this virtues during their whole trial they might be granted the title. In other affairs, we are now going to send a third of all refugees and rescued survivors towards the Tower, as so they might choose between the lives of Yeoman or Serfs, and serve the order. Lord Rodrigo reminds you that you are his arm of justice there, and you should no hesitate in applying it, without cruelty, but certain and cold as the edge of your sword.

PS: As for a personal note, I've include in a package some red wheat seeds and sugar cane saplings a survivor from the 8th wave brought from Terra. See if they serve you well in there.

Your Servant,
Scribe Anders Nine-Fingers.

I am afraid there were no Cadians around when me and the Yeoman arrived on the vicinities. Admittedly, the pearls that we used to name it Pearl River, are most likely worthless, but they are at least pretty to look upon.

We have moved out to a staging point close by but out of sight of Camp Sammael. Our scouts arround it send us back regular updates on what they can make out going on in the Camp, as usual some of it is good and some is bad. On the good side the camp hasnt been reduced to complete anarchy, the majority of the new wavers sit in their houses of mull around the open areas, only coming out in mass when the meal bell was rung at which point large rations were handed out by those who had obviously taken control.
They seemed in good condition and from the looks of it had been left unmolested apart from being told to shut up and sit tight. They seem mostly bored and confused, if a little concerned.

The rest is bad news. From the looks of things these people have been planning for awhile because almost a hunred or so of them have gotten together and are now running the camp.
Whats moree there have been several clashes between them and the new management, nothing violent yet but mostly becuase they backed down when guns were aimed at them. Whats worse the staff and constables have been bound outside in the main courtyard, twenty three in total. They havent been fed, given shelter and atleast four of the constables are in dire need of medical attention.

Its obvious we can't afford to sit around to starve them out and we cant expect to take the place with brute force if we want to avoid inncocents getting hurt.
So obviously we need to approach this with a little more finesse.

To tackle the problem I've hand picked the most talented and experienced members of the DWA that we have available, mostly Rangers and Cadians with a couple Butterroot Boyz, Tower Hunters and Hades Skirmishers, all of them vets of atleast one battle and with spotless track records since joining the Department.

Theres only eighteen of them in total but they will be better armed and trained than anyone else inside that camp and I pray thats enough to let them get their job done. They wont be bothering with the hats or the jackets of the DWA, instead they will be dressed in silk and leather armor, all painted a dark brown and red. Earth weapons issued to all of them with the ammo we have, and while we dont actually have anything like a suppressor, one of them was able to fashion a couple of oneshot versions out of some plastic bottles.

We have already sat down to plan out the assault and once they are in their positions the DWA will move forward to approach the Camp itself, to gain their attention under the pretense fo 'negotiating'. It will also have the advantage of allowing us to move the bulk of our constables into position for retaking the camp as well.

Right then, lets see how long this plan lasts before it hits the fan.

Inside the walls of Cadia a pair of enterprising brothers from /v/ have set up shop. Their carriage is loaded with meats, coffee and teas from the north. The first of them is big and muscular with a shaved head and four teeth. His brother is also wide and muscular but shorter with a pair of glasses without lenses and a dirty baseball cap.

"CUM WUN, CUM OLL TAH AHR SHOOP. WEEZ GUDZ TEA, WEEZ GUDZ CAFFEE END IDZ ALL FAH SEHL!" The shorter one yells.

"Shid, Poit, you think dese Cadyuns loik ahr stuff?" The big one asks.

"Corse dey doo, dey loik ludz ahd dings, Jim" The smaller one replies.

The two brothers grin with their yellow teeth at those who pass by. How the pair got into Cadia is surprising in the least. Especially given their famous business tactics.

"OI YOO!" Pete yells to a woman, "YAH WAND SOME CAFFEH IS DELISHEEUS, MAYBEH YAH A TEA DRUNKER?" The man wanders over to the woman and drags her to the stand, "IS ONLEH FOIV BULLEDS!" The man grins.

Well - the peace talks were only part of why I am here.

The other part of why I am here is to check the organization of the Confederate Army.

We're still a disparate collection of wildly different military forces cobbled together, but things are starting to look more unified now.

The Mars Pattern Rifle is the standard armament for veteran companies. Over the past few months we've been turning all military production to making them. In all, I believe we have around six-hundred. Making them isn't the hardest thing in the world for skilled smiths, but it still takes time. Of these some have bayonets; because almost all Iron production is going to making the rifles themselves these are often copper (from the Keep) or old world knives and builder daggers repurposed.

The veteran companies aren't all equipped with silk bulletproof vests, however. Only about half have the vests. The rest are using classic armors. I'm not sure how many more vests we can get in time. Additionally ammunition isn't in huge supply. It's replenishable, but soldiers are closer to maybe 50 rounds each than the standard 200 round loadout we ex soldiers had on Earth.

Mixed in with all that we have a good stock of old world guns and ammo.

In all I believe we can send about 2-3k soldiers down to fight the Fedorans soon. Most will be in the triplate armor with swords, crossbows, slings and bows. Our veterans are our shock troops; the rest will be more than capable of taking on the average Fedoran. Our logistics setup can support that much, though ammo won't necessarily always be in high supply.

We've been trying to make thermite to deal with the robots. The recipe isn't complex, but getting a good stable mix is tricky. Unlike the Fedorans we actually care what happens to our soldiers. Then we've got to figure a delivery system.

Soon we'll be ready for war. One wonders what will happen when it's time.

war....what is it good for?

Day 101:
The hobbits from further west seem to be a friendly lot. Lisa's lead a small delegation across the river to meet with their leader. I on the other hand have volunteered to finally put and end to our skull problem: "Operation Mexican Diplomacy". I'm to approach their camp with a contingent of Barbarians, backed up with Hunter scouts and assassins. The Hunters will kill their sentries from the cover of the woods for a couple of days before I approach and demand to speak to their leader, Reed I believe his name was, and try to negotiate a truce. There's a chance this will turn sour, there always is. But the Hunters have their knives and their bows/atlatls and we have our slings and axes. We headed out at midday in order to get there.

Of course we were ambushed quickly, the screaming band of raiders jumped out of the brush and tore at our flanks. A few of us fell quickly but I remember seeing Gerry, how long had it been since we'd fought together? He swung his axe as if he was cutting down trees and not people. We killed them all, but we'd lost more men and women then we thought we would've. We sent a couple of men back with the deceased. The rest of us continued on.

Tonight we're camping about a day away from Gorkamorka, the Skullz camp, Hunters have taken to forward scouting in order to kill any stragglers. We'll assist them tomorrow, we predict that in two or three days we'll make our ultimatum.

All that we do, we do for Redwood.
>>
Day 102:
Today was relatively boring. Every now and again a forward scout would kill a Skull or not return, we're down quite a few Barbarians but we still have a rather large group of us. The Hunters have found Gorkamorka, they seem to be well on alert. Men with blue painted armor are standing guard at the walls. One of them almsot nodded off tonight and was yelled at for a good 15 minutes by a man without paint, probably one of their leaders.

We're camping a while away but we're definitely in easy reach of the camp, our sentries are well on alert. Late at night we'll have our Hunters try to incapacitate their watch. Following that, we'll approach their camp at dawn. Following that, we'll demand an audience with their leader. Try to come to some kind of agreement, if not then I guess we're going to be killing some Ork players. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

I really do wonder what that Hermit would do in this situation, probably kill them all. The man's starting to become a legend in Redwood some kind of super survivor, other's think he doesn't exist. Either way he's different from us.

Tomorrow, will decide our fate. Whether we can reason with the raiders or if we die trying.

God save us.
>>
>>29892254
Right, well looks to me that Redwood is on the warpath.

Nice to see them do something beyond sitting behind their walls and letting their scouts get picked off.

But a frontal assault? On Skullz? I surprised they came away with as few casualties as they did. Probably because none of the men they have faced so far were Nobz. That is strange, now that I think about it, they’re usual in the thick of things, giving some semblance of order, but I haven’t seen any of the blue lined bastards. If I had to guess, Reed’s holding them back, but for what reason…Defense? Maybe. Or perhaps their absence on the front speaks volumes to how unstable the situation in Gorkamorka is right now.

So here I am, camping out under the stars of an alien world, playing guardian angel to some asshat how decided to take a piss without telling anyone. Jeez.

Oh, and look someone is about to pay the asshat a visit. An unwanted visitor, now can’t have that, now can we? Lets see if my friend 308. can help see this ‘guest’ out.

Welp, gotta move, Sir Pissing Himself of Asshat will most assuredly tell his friends about his encounter with a randomly exploding sneaky Skull. Super Survivor Away!

So while the chief is busy chatting up the a-holes who took over this camp the three newly formed Special Operations Teams moved into place. Thats us by the way, if that was unclear. Or more exactly, we are one of these teams. Blue teams job is to move in through the Barracks Area, using them as cover to set up for the extraction of the hostages in the central square. Yellow team job is to move in through the back which is to the north, picking off guards that they encounter and setting up an overwatch position in the high watchtower to provide support for the whole operation.

Our mission is to slip in through the latrine area, hugging the wall and avoiding detection until we reach the camps main building. There it will be our job to infiltrate the building an neutralize the leadership while securing the three DWA hostages who were just moved there. Course the easy thing to do would be to set up snipers all around the Camp and pick them all off but the trouble is that the chief wants this opertion to be as clean as possible, so that means offering the a-holes another out first, offering surrender or an escort out of Confederate territory, not that they would actually get it of course, and ensuring the safety of the hostages first and foremost.

Which means we are stuff here waiting for the signal to move in, right behind the go damn latrines. In all of the nine rings of hell what have they been feeding these people?

Signal just got sent, two silent short bursts on the hand held radio followed by a long one. So we are moving in. The first our was the dude in the tower, a single lined up shot put him down with out any hastle. Also pro-tip, while cokebottle and some duct-tape dont make a perfect suppressor its quite sufficient when everyones attention is otherwise devoted to the loud voice coming out over a megaphone. I still dont know how the chief found a working one of those and who thought it was a worthwhile piece of equipment to bring.

Following that two more rebels on the wall went down with clubs to the back of the heads and a third just found out how good our ex-Cadian Kell Hound is with a length of piano wire when he stumbled on us and tried to raise an alarm.

Now that the rear wall and the general area around it are clear, Johny and Phil are have set up in the tower overlooking the camp with the pair of hunting rifles, while the rest of us move forwards to sweep the camp proper.

Its difficult since we have no way of differentiating between an innocent bystander and one of the rebels unless we see them on active patrol or doing something conspicuous, but the policy is that if they lay down their arms before we see them and the bystanders dont turn them out then its best ot let them be and focus on the real threat.

Like this dickhead, marching around like he's some sort of drill sergeant and barking at a bunch of new wavers. This should be quick, bag over his head and follow it with a heavy club strike and even the big guys hit the dirt like a sack of rotten potatoes.

Hostiles around the main square have been neutralized. ten dead from being picked off by Blue Team operatives and another twelve sit bount and gag in the barracks after a co-ordinated ambush. Several of our operatives have switched to plain clothes and taken the position of the guards. They would be recognized if they were clearly visible but both the position of the hostage holding area, across the square from the main building and badly visible due to the low light dusk conditions.

Now they realeasing the hostages a little at a time as the while the rebels are distracted out front. From their they are sent towards they are sent by two of us holding position on the roof fo the barracks, both as to provide additional overwatch and to hold onto our primary exit corridor.

Through my scope I can already see the Red Team pry open one of the doors and enter completely unimpeded while a dead man clutching a Mars Pattern rifle lies in the mud.
So far so goo-*BANG*-holy shit! What the hell was that?
Fuck, one of the rebels them just got in a fight wiht a bunch of new wavers deeper in the camp and then shot one of them when they rushed him. Now there is shouting everywhere.

"Pick your targets, priority on anyone with a firearms and on anyone directly threatening a bystander!"

God speed to Red Team inside the camp hq, they'll need it to get to those hostages in time.

"Open fire!"

Hello this is Mike Torren speaking, I am currently at the Honeypot Exchange House and let me tell you it's crazy. Everyone is going crazy in there. They sell and buy like there is no tomorrow since rumours about the coming of Bubonicus envoys have been confirmed. I'll tell you more about that after the next price updates.

>H-34 BW-45 I-498 CR-321 N-243 CC-42 L-26 CS-50 MB-12 BR-22 TM-31 GM-52 P-21 S-81

Back on news report : the diplomatic caravan coming from the city of the Cathedral has arrived this morning trough the northern gate. While the rumours about their arrival were around for weeks until now, their goal was still kept unknown by the government and there was no official stand about it so far. Now Bap is about to make a speech at the old tower and all representatives of the major companies and interest groups have been invited to ask questions. More after price update.

>H-38 BW-46 I-478 CR-312 N-241 CC-41 L-26 CS-50 MB-13 BR-28 TM-32 GM-53 P-28 S-75

As you see, the exchange is crazy today. Order cap is most likely to be reached tonight !

Back on the news, there has been a lot of reactions to the arrival of Bubonicus' envoys today. The nurglite cult leader, Thibalt, announced that "it was a holy day for all the followers of the Lord of Decay" in a fiery sermon this morning. Jenny Baruch, director of the New Honeypot Apiaries and Jorin Skullbasher of the Skullbasher Caravans also proclaimed their support to the nurglites. On the other hand, the Church of the Emperor's Light and the Paladins have both expressed their concerns about what they perceive as a "toxic ideology brought by filthy heathens". More after price update.

Honey is on the rise again, The Nirnroot Bank's investments in honey lately seems to pay off at last.
>>
>>29895115

More news about the envoys. The caravan just reached the Exchange Plaza under heavy guard as a crowd is starting to form around it. The Watch and the army are already there to secure the area. Bap's armoured cart has just departed from the Old Tower to meet them. The president of the Cadia Veterans association just declared that "it was another jab at the national unity of the Confederacy by the /b/tard lover Bap". The Watch is in riot gear with guns out, security measures are at their maximum. More after price update.

>H-42 BW-48 I-496 CR-315 N-242 CC-42 L-26 CS-50 MB-14 BR-31 TM-33 GM-55 P-28 S-77

Wait something is happening on the Plaza. The envoys are out of their cart. There is a man and a woman, and wait... I got informations about them : the man is a well-known scholar of the nurglite faith named Avic Aquinna, and the woman is the Priestess Jenna the White-Eyed. They are both talking with a delegation of hat-wearing officials, apparently from the diplomatic cabinet : they are wearing feathers. The Syndical cart is going down the road from the Marketplace Gate now. Wait, the priestess Jenna is climbing back into her cart, leaving the scholar Avic there with the diplomats. I nearly forgot price updates, damn.

>H-43 BW-48 I-496 CR-315 N-242 CC-42 L-26 CS-50 MB-14 BR-31 TM-34 GM-55 P-30 S-76

The Bubonicus cart is leaving the plaza and is heading straight to... Wait, yes, it is heading straight to the Church of Nurgle. Avic Aquinna is still on the Plaza and... The Black Cart of the Syndic is there. Bap is there. He is wearing his state overcoat and his black beret... He is shaking hands with Avic. Oh Emprah this is historical, we are here in the Honeypot, and what we are witnessing is a huge step for peace in Lenore

"-is Camp Luke now! We are the ones in charge not you cyclops! How long did you think we were going to let you force us to work only to ship us off to god knows where, probablly to die! You stuck us in fucking camps like a bunch of god damn Nazis!"

I find it hard not to face palm at the man who has been shouting an hurling abuse at me for the past half hour. I hear someone off to my right mumble something about Godwin and the urge to face palm jumps a little higher.
So much for an attempt to open a dialogue but instead Ive had to stand here listen as this guy talk my ears off.
Every so often I do manage to get some words in however and I click the beat up megaphone on.

"For the last time that is not the Camps purpose! They are meant to prepare you for life on Lenore and function like a form of border control! If we simply wanted you dead why would we spend all these resources and supplies on you just to ship you off to die when you are finally useful?"

For a second I think Ive gotten through when I see a couple of them huddled around the window from which he has been shouting now talking animatedly to each other, then they stop and he turns back to face me.
....
And gives me the middle finger, nice.

"Look you were offered the chance to leave Confederacy Territory and make your own way, we even promised to give you basic provisions to do so its not like you are even being forced to stay and that offer still stands for those of you who lay down your weapons and surrender."
Another middle finger.
"But if you want to join the Confederacy you have to play by the rules. You don-*BANG*....well thats it for peace talks I guess"

It started with a single shot but then the camp behind the wall grew loud with shouting and then there was the sound of gunfire, not the lonesome roars of the Mars Patterns but the repeated barks of semi-automatic earth made guns. Flashes of gunfire lit up from inside the hq as well. A quick hand signal and the DWA began to move in.

You know I think Red Teams should be "Semper Imo Stercore" because after sitting in the Latrine area, which hasnt been serviced in way to long by the way, for half an hour and now just when we are about to get to the main part of our job, wed already taken out surrounding ground level guards and unbolted the main gate, the camp decides to go nuts and we are having to fight our way through idiots who don't even know how properly use the guns they stole.

At this point we arent wasting time, if they dont surrender immediately we open fire and clear the room and move on, the hostages being our main priority at this point. Outside I can here more gunfire from the general directions of Yellow and Blue team, they should be able to keep the assholes heads down until the Constables kick the gate open and start bringing back some damn order.

We reach a door and pause, I feel the adrenalin pumping through my veins, I must of killed atleast five guys between the door and this room and id probablly be freaking out a little if I wasnt already riding a jitterbug buzz. Dont look at me like that, everyone deals with shit their own way and Ive long since learned to function while on the jitter, it just keeps me from bugging out, get it?

We know that this room is the one with the man in charge and several of his ring leaders, we also know that they hold three hostages in there with them. And from the general lack of screaming outside im guessing theyre still alive. Jenkins moves forward with the handheld ironwood ram while me and Smitty take positions to move in first.
"Positions? Right, on a three count."

"1...2...3!"
One the third count the ram swung forward busting the shoddy door right open. The two of us on point swung around the door frame, our guns raised and already taking aim..

Time seems to slow down, the edges of my vision seem to glow and sparkle while the rest of the room seems to lose colour. Inside were eight men, all armed with Mars Pattern Carbines, three of them hold bound hostages infront of them as they tried to aim the carbines with one hand. But to my eyes the were moving slow as tar even as their faces seemed to morph into monstrous effigies of themselves. A flock of White Doves...no wait those are dragon rats slowly flap by across the window frame. I think I may be shouldnt of taken that last jitterbug after all.

My hands felt as if they moved on their own, and the handgun kicks in my hand three times, dropping a man each time, two of them hostage holder. To my right Smittys AR-15 barks several times putting down another four. The two freed hostages hit the deck the second they are free and begin to crawl towards us.
My eyes dart around to the last hostile in the room and light, sound and movement seems to rush back into the room as I see him there holding a knife to the neck of a young man in a constables jacket.

Neither of me or Smitty have a good line to take him out and every movement we make causes his arm to tense and the knife to press tightly against the hostages neck.
"Guns on the g-ground! I'll f-fucking do it! Then get out of my god damn way!"
First I am unsure how to procede but then my eyes catch sight of something north and everything clicks into place.

I signal the team to do as I do and eject the ammo from our guns and lay them on the ground, then we begin to circle around the middle of the room and, hostage still in hand, circles opposite to us shuffling along the wall.

Unawares of what is about to happen the a-hole smiles and hurls a few more less than stellar insults at us. I remain neutral even as my team struggle to understand why we are just letting him go. But I catch Smittys look of understanding and I can see the a-hole does as well.
His eyes widen and he turns about noticing that heas passed infront of the wide open window, the one facing north and therefore the watch tower. His snaps ackwards as a loud crack rings out and then his body slumps to the floor, a fresh hole in his head courtesy of Yellow Team, finally releasing his hostage.

I smile and giggle a littele inside as the rest of the team cant help but cheer.

"Signal the chief, Rooms Clear and Hostages Secure."

After the SO Teams completed their parts the rest of the operation was handled by the other DWA Constables. They swept the camp and rounded up any of the rebels who handt already thrown away their weapons and taken refuge amongst the other new wavers. We will take them all into custody. Those who straight up surrender will probablly be given a second chance, but those who try to fight will be shipped to /b/. If any of them actually managed to injure or kill a constable, or worse a bystander, they will be 'escorted' away under the same pretense but they wont reach Cadia.

The Camp is slowly coming back into proper order but it'll take some time before Camp Sammael is running properly again, not much we can really do about that. Its just something these new wavers will have to deal with for now. Shame, I bet some of them were looking forward to graduation.

Still Im pleased despite this, there werent any deaths on the side of the Special Operations Teams and only a single injury when someone with a Mars Pattern hit a member of Blue Team in the leg whils they were shielding a hostage. And all the hostages were secured and extracted safely even if Red Teams were in a precarious position.

Worth feeling a little proud over I think, I'll break open that case of Heineken I know we have stashed in Abaddon for them as a celebration, both for the successful operation and the official founding of the DWA SOT.

An excellent job. This utterly vindicates the DWA and will be excellent political capital. If nothing else this massive success is an excuse for me to use the DWA for swat operations in cities if necessary. No doubt the experience gained breaking raider camps was instrumental to their success here.

Should a hostage crisis emerge I can use them to help resolve it and build further political capital and expand their power even more. Some may feel they screwed up - but the simple fact of the matter is that they founded half a dozen camps for newbies, rescued thousands of lives and had only one incident which they handled with speed and skill beyond anyone's expectations. I'm not sure that even I could have done it as well.

Just running the camps was not the real purpose of the DWA. Not by a long shot. Before we even have a president we'll have an FBI and a way to break the black market utterly.

Her name is Fleet Queen Izumi and she practically shivers with self-righteous pride.

She's cute. Small, half-asian, short spiky hair, covered in rope with a gimpy slave in tow. She's easily one of the most hard-line /y/kings there is. She loves her benefits; she feels like she deserves them. The way she breathes, the way she holds her shoulders, the casual and almost forgetful but firm way she holds the leash on one of the slaves kneeling on the floor; I've decided.

She will be the perfect one to break.

Self-righteousness and pride cover fragility and I can see the cracks inside of her. They're well concealed but they're the size of the grand canyon. I suffer from no such weaknesses; I am well prepared to do whatever it takes for ultimate victory.

"So it's agreed then," She said, voice thick with greed and scorn. "You become my personal slave, and in return we'll take your people out of here to serve as /y/king slaves."

"Oh yes." I replied levelly, smiling. A city-leader such as I would be a powerful boon to her ambitions. Almost five thousand slaves and a city-leader? Her power and influence as a queen would skyrocket.

"Then kneel, slave - and prepare for Ronaldo to take you. And lick my feet while you're at it." She sneered - high as a kite off her own lusts. The Shibari fleet was well named - I was tied up in an instant.

I do not like other men. If all the other men on this world were to die and I were left alone as supreme ruler of all women I would be happy. I would gladly kill them all with my bare hands. But I am not called the /d/m for nothing. I will do as she demands.

Behind her her first in command smiles at me; her living god. She is mine - and though Izumi thinks I am hers, she will soon find out how wrong she is.
>>
The outpost will work. We were built here to be a front line fight against /y/kings incursions against the order territories, and today we defeated a raiding party. It wasn't a fleet, just two long ships with no more than thirty men on each. We had a sentry that spotted them as they came dashing across the waves, and that gave me time enough to organize the Yeoman. Thirty yeoman with bows and staves, five squires with wooden shields and clubs, and me. A Ordained Knight with a steel sword and padded armour.

The first volley hit them when their ships finally made to the sand and they started unloading. Yeoman aren't great shooters, but the target area was fairly big and group shooting doesn't require great accuracy. I ordered a second volley as they started running uphill. To much my dismay, their leader seemed to have a revolver, and two yeoman were taken out by him alone. They outnumbered us 2 to one. But they had few ranged options and we reduced the number of able bodied warriors by a great deal before close combat started. With machetes and makeshift axes, they fought like savages. But staves can do lots of damage to a skull without armour. And my sword was unmatched. I killed nearly seven myself, before they start retreating for their boats, leaving wounded and dead behind. I halted the men, ordered them to pick them with bows again, but I allowed them to ran.

Our causalities were heavy, half of our men are wounded and at least six dead. The number is sure to grow overnight as we have little in terms of first aid. I lost two of the ten candidates squires. We fought well and we proved to the order that the Tower of Embers will serve it's purpose.

If under manned, without a fortification, we were able to repel this small raiding party, I am confident that when we are finished building the main tower and the palisade, we will be able to hold off a whole attack fleet, even if outnumbered.

That is, if they don't have siege weapons of any sort. Dragon forbid.

I think it was started just to troll you guys, but since the first OP left soon after we took the RP to IRC instead of the thread, we'll never know.

Eh, close enough. Started 226 days ago and the people are stuck on the northern frontier wilderness of Equestria and interacting with canon characters is not allowed. Hopefully the person working on their d20 system revision gets their stuff together soon since he's gone NEET again, but I won't hold my breath. Unfortunately, we've had to make a meta council because people weren't discussing things before implementing them and massive abuse of the meta by a few players. There's next to no adventures right now because lol realtime and winter based off of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and the normal group that ran them earlier is burnt out and nobody has really picked up the slack. I rolled in it a while back, and for the most part, the people there are alright, though I find it hilarious one of our Mary Sues was killed after breaking out of prison. Then again, he deserved it. Claiming IC that the only reason why he raped the other PC was because he thought she had a rape fetish was one of the most lulzy things out of his mouth.

Here's hoping your thread goes better than ours and casting blame and hate on GMs and other content producers won't happen as much. Don't even get me started on the #innercircle joke that was viewed as real and the cancer that is Skype. Take it from us. Skype ruins everything it touches since it becomes an echo chamber for the few that are on it 24/7.

As my first RPG over IRC, I have to say it's gone better than roll20 or IRL. I just can't into miniatures unless it's a strategy game. And the few IRL pnp groups around me are fedora wearing faggots.I'd have to saw we're more of a MUSH at this point and our thread is mostly cancer to the game itself.

I come from a long standing military family. I grew up with stories of my father's, his father's and his father's father's bravery and dedication and how they were patriots and heroes who fought for freedom. I knew that one day I would serve just like them and be worthy of the name Maddison. Then I got busted for selling some weed to a friend in my senior year of college and got my military scholarship revoked and then barred from ever enlisting.
My family practically disowned me at that point and I had to take a bunch of part time jobs just to make do and withdrew into life online to avoid the ruin my life had become. Event he wargames I took to playing were a poor substitute for the dreams I had once had.

Then life threw me a curve ball and I ended up here on some alien planet. I somehow managed to survive long enough to wind up at the Keep
Right around the time they were forming the Outrider and I knew it must have been fate that brought me there.
Now I am in command of a troop of thirty men and women, one of the first to be fully outfitted in the new armor and with the Mars Pattern Cavalry Carbines.
Finally I will get a chance to lead men into real battle and live up to my familys legacy of fighting and dying in battle!

Right now though we have arrived at the rendezvous point and are setting up for the wait.
We have been positioned between the camp of the 7th and 12th Cadian, otherwise known as the 'Kriegers' and the 'Kell Hounds' and the camp of the Tower Hunter contingent. Equipment, armor and weapons vary from camp to camp but they all march under the same flag. It may not be the old stars and strips but the pronged wheel and 20 sided dice has come to represent the chance for real life on this new world.
And I, like many other men and women, will let assholes like the Fedorans know that we are willing to kill and die for that flag.

Day 103:
The advance scouts we sent to kill the sentries never returned. We're going to have to assume the worst here; the Skullz have killed them and our planned negotiations are definitely not going to go as well as we hoped. A few of the guys are swearing that the Hermit is following us but I've told them to cut the shit, we don't have a guardian angel. It's just us against the world right now. This may be my last entry, today we approach the Skullz camp. Here's to hoping for some peace.
>>
The fort of Gorkamorka was a less than impressive site. Bombed out, it's walls had never been rebuilt leaving a good third of the wall missing and open to anyone. Inside the walls and outside in the clearing stood a series of camping tents and chairs. The walls and the tents had been painted blue and were adorned with a mixture of skulls, yowler, imp, and human. It was to this scene that the men and women of Redwood found themselves approaching.

James Glasgow, Captain of the Barbarian Guard and a Pentumvir, was the first out of the woods. His host followed him. The sentries immediately looked up and aimed their guns at the oncoming warriors, unsure of what to do.

One of their commanders, a latino man with a yowler skull painted onto his shoulder piece and a blue line running down the side of his face barked an order and the men readied to fire.

"That's enough! Stand down!" The order echoed through the clearing and slowly and begrudgingly the sentries lowered their guns.

Approaching the host of Barbarians and Hunters was a tall man, naturally skinny and lean with a nasty scar on the side of his face. He too was one of the few men in Gorkamorka not wearing blue armor. Instead having a blue line running down the other side of his face to the scar and a stylized yowler skull on his shoulder. It was evident that the men wearing that were the commanders.

The man walked out of his fort, a group of his fellow commanders behind him. All of them were armed with guns and nasty sneers.

"So you're the eighters who have been killing my Boyz," The man said almost mockingly.

"And you're the leader of this sorry bunch of raiders and rapists," The leader of the soldiers from Redwood replied.

"Reed."

"Glasgow."

And with that the two shook hands, their eyes meeting in a glare that could kill. From on top of the wall the lation man grumbled to himself, his rifle still in his hand as he watched his enemy shake hands with his leader.
>>
>>29920701
"I take it you're not here to kill us then," Reed asked the bare chested man before him.

"No, and I take it you're not going to order your men to mow us down either," Was the response.

"Well, I won't. Can't guarantee another Nob won't though. So you're hear to chat then, now why would you think that was a good idea?" The leader of the Skullz asked.

"I heard you were reasonable," Glasgow replied, "That you've made truces before."

The man's smile only widened, "So you've me the Yowler Man then. Good, he might kill another group of people instead of us for once. So you wanted a truce then. Finally get sick of losing moronic scouts?"

"Something like that," Glasgow grunted, "We both know that if it were to come to conflict it would be a Pyrrhic Victory at best. Neither of us wants that."

"That's true but there are some issues some of my men have with your idea," Reed sighed.

As if on queue the man from on top of the wall came to the side of his leader his face red with rage as he spoke his voice became more frantic and louder, "You let these fucking assholes in? We should kill 'em now, take their shit. Imagine all the shit they have in their fort of their's! Shit, man, Brutus would've done it by now! We ain't no Sixth House reps no more, we're fuckin' raiders and badasses. Make these fuckers bow, it's easy see!" The man pointed his gun right at Glasgow's face, "One little click..."

The result was an elbow in the back of the head from Reed and two of the other veterans grabbing him by the arms and hauling him back, "Some of my men really don't like you."

Glasgow's eyes were wide... "I noticed. I'm not going to ask about the shit he brought up, not enough time and I imagine that won't help our peace talks. No instead I want to ask you one thing. Can you keep your men in check?"

Reed grinned, "You keep what you kill. I killed our former leader and here I am. If he kills me then he's in charge, see? I've managed so far without dying. I'll manage.
>>
>>29920840
"Now I like the idea of a truce, I'm sick of you killing my Boyz. No what I want is a truce that benefits both of us and not the kind of shit they pull back west. We have our land, you have your's. Cross the border and you're dead." Reed continued.

"That works, I imagine the borders will remain at the unofficial ones we have now. Land in the middle is fair game for whoever wants it," Glasgow replied.

"Naturally."

"Then my demands, you're men stop killing newbies."

Reed glanced over his shoulder at the assembled Nobz behind him, some of them were glaring daggers into the back of his head, "No can do."

Glasgow muttered something under his breath, "No killing newbies in the disputed zone. Your territory is fair game."

Reed hesitated for a moment, "That sounds reasonable. Also, we know you have our men as prisoners. We want them back."

"Now that's where I have a problem."

"Ahhh," Reed began, "How about a trade then."

The men shouted at a couple of bystanders who ran into the fort and came back dragging a pair of men in Hunter red with bags over their heads.

"You send my men back and you can have your cut throats," Reed said.

Glasgow ground his teeth before looking at the men behind him, their faces were a mix of expressions. No matter what he was going to piss someone off... He was vaguely aware of Samantha somewhere in the host, how long ago had it been since they'd last spoken? Things had changed so much.

"...Deal," Glasgow muttered.

The two captured hunters were thrown unceremoniously back to the Redwood troops, their companions lifting their hoods and checking them for injuries.

"Anything else?" Glasgow asked, his voice betrayed him, the anger barely hidden.
>>
>>29920992
"One last thing," Reed wandered over to the Australian and whispered so that only he could hear, "The Skullz are split, some of them want more than this shitty life of subsistence and are loyal to me..." A few of the Nobz behind him nodded as if knowing what he was saying, "Others want only to kill. Know this, that you just unleashed a beast amongst my men. Carlos and the other true bandits will want my head more than ever."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"If I die... the truce dies with me. And the Skullz are going to want you and your people dead and gone."

With that Reed backed away from the Barbarian and grinned, "Now if you ever come back to my fucking fort like that again I will not hesitate to kill each and every one of you assholes. Now get the fuck out, Owlbears, this discussion is closed."

With that the man turned away from the shocked looking Glasgow and walked past his Nobz, many of them falling in behind him. One took the time to stop and kick the downed Carlos. An uneasy peace had been won. But how long could it last?

Gathered here on the sloped clearing far south of the Apiary is the largest army of Confederate Soldiers to ever be gathered together, matched perhaps only by the forces that manned the Cadian walls against the Horde.

I can see Cadians performing their drills out in the open as one group all in their ecclectic but well kept uniforms, such as the overcoats, gas masks and skull masks of the Kriegers, the plumed helmets of the Castellans own and the bright red of the Fire Drakes.

The forces of the Keep, distinct in their orange uniforms, sit and prepare in their own way. Da Boyz sharpen Bayonets and clean their rifles while the Outriders feed and groom their Mounts.

Tower Hunters and Kog and R.C. Rangers sit around their camps double checking their own gear and regularly sending out patrols.

I can even see the heavily armoured forces of Hadesopolis and Battleborn finally marching in and setting up camp next to small forces that Salt City and Mining City have pledged to this Army.

Everything from Special Teams with earth made weapons, to Pike and Phalanx Formations, to flintlock wielding Dragoons, to Guerilla fighters with Bows and Swords and even more different kinds of troops have been gathered here.

I cans see up at the top of the hill the senior officers and commanders overlooking the army as I am and discussing amongst themselves as runners bring them updates on both Fedoran movements and on our growing forces.
Its only a matter of time before we move out, and when we do, Success and Glory will be within my grasp!

The Sixth House is here to prove we aren't a joke and that our men aren't simple thugs or some sort of gang. We might only have one company to dedicate to the war effort but they are well equipped in leather lamellar, and the first examples of metal lamerllar, and with crossbows and partisans.

Some people want to criticize the way we name stuff; they say it's not 'grand' or 'majestic' enough.

Then I show them this; a map with literal translations for the names of countries.

I think we've done a little bit better than an entire nation named, "Village".

One side note: The US isn't fully translated here. Amerigo means "Home Ruler". So it should be "The United States of Home Ruler".

Amusing how many of these places are "The Land of the Free" but the US wasn't one of them.

The confederate armies were gathered, drilling, training, exchanging tips and discussing about how much they hated fedorans.

Suddenly, two banners appeared from behind a hill. The confederate flag flying high in the sky, followed by the white, black and gold heraldry of the Honeypot. The small Honeypot Hunters company, already veterans of the skirmish wars against the fedorans, promptly gathered in ordered ranks and presented arms, under the gaze of the puzzled confederate command.

The troops were approaching fast. At their head was a knight clad in a ragged, jury-rigged red armour mounted on a scale wolf as armoured as he was and a woman mounted on a slender scale wolf. They were followed by red knights, mismatched footmen wearing leather and carrying crude bugger shotguns, hunters in camo and a few tortollos of burden. The woman ordered the column to stop and rode ahead to meet the commanding officers.

« - Hello gentlemen, I am Julie, diplomat of the Honeypot. I'm here with to deliver our detachment's command to the commanding officer here.

- Hello milady. My name's Al'Rahem, captain of the Tallarn desert raiders. I have to say that while we weren't expecting you, I'm utterly pleased you bought the thrice turncoats with you so we can give them the proper hanging they deserve.

- Khârn and his Khornate Knights are here as allies, captain. The Syndic has hired them for a long-term contract and they are here to fight the fedorans.

- You must be kidding, RIGHT ? Men, round up that scum. We are gonna show them Cadia doesn't forget.

- Please Al'Rahem, you don't want to cause a diplomatic blunder, we are here to fight the fedorans united.

- I don't unite with /b/. Do you know what they did during the wars ? Of course you don't !

- Please, past is past, the Spiritual Liege has disappeared since then, and their military records with us is pretty spotless. They are the most elite military force in the world currently, you can't simply dismiss then.

The journey up the river was eye opening, I'd known that the lands of /tg/ were tropical but this jungle is much more than I expected. Its a constant sprawl of plant, animal and insect life. And the species are bizarre, I saw strange bird monkey things swinging from the branches, dive into the river and then fly off with a fish in its mouth. /y/ has little variation of wildlife and most of it is just the grazing animals and the bird creatures that live in the forests. Not all of it looks friendly either, Ive spotted one of the so called 'Dragons' that the rumors after the raid spoke of. Really more of a wyrm but still big and definitely dangerous looking. And this is all on top of the dangers we have learned from our Fedoran slaves. The fa/tg/uys managed to survive deep inside this hellscape and make a life of sorts? Im impressed.

And the Confederacy itself? Much more than I expected. From the coast I thought all their little towns would be shacks built around a ruin. But they have managed to build real towns I even see the signs of electric lights in some places. Curious.

My ship approaches their so called 'Capital', naturally escorted by their patrol forces along the banks, and I wonder what kind of place it is up close and personal. Better than its name sake I hope. I have my warriors keep their weapons stowed and the even the angry figure head has been removed as we are not sailing into battle.
I've even made sure my state of dress is less....martial than usual, by removing my heavier pieces of armor and my buckler, but hell if Im going to take off my chainmail if im walking into a possibly hostile environment.

Let it go Captain, if Honeypot has taken them in and is acting as their character reference then we should let them fight with us.

We've received our diplomatic 'guest' from the /y/kings. If you left it up to me they'd all be dead, but there's a bunch of Butterroot soldiers there to escort them down to the Apiary whenever this Queen feels ready.

I don't give a damn. A tiger can't change its stripes, and I have friends from little villages on the coast that ended up in Kog because the /y/kings killed and enslaved everyone else in the places they built.

After all they've done I still can't believe anyone wants peace with those shitbags. Well, we'll move them down south and let them see the army, and they can realize that they're outmatched.

Kog really is an interesting city and BIG. The architecture is alien, and all set in concentric rings, but the people are so very human bustling about and giving the place life. I would hate to assault this place though, its numerous walls make Catan seem positively open and its size make it seem like a bit of a backwater.
Although I must admit I cant help but smile when I see the obvious signs of /tg/ peaking through the cracks. Street performers in elaborate dress acting out scenes from some old fantasy novel, a large tavern built up with a mural of a very naughtily dressed lizard girl and a wide flat square filled with miniature terrain pieces and model buildings as six people played an elaborate wargame across it, all the while a rapt audience and bets taking place. Its quite endearing how bunch of geeks have transformed their hobbies into intrinsic parts of their new society. Not as fun as the skin shows back in Haven but I guess thats not for everyone. I should see if someone might teach me how to play though, without TV or the Internet it would be nice to have something else to pass the time with.

Hmm, maybe after the talks are over.

Oh, the talks, I should be getting over there shouldnt I? I think I've tired my escorts out running about all over the city, poor dears. We will be taking my boats naturally but escorted by the Butterrooters on their own boats, not quite ships really but suited for river travel I suppose. Honeslty Im enjoying this so far, not nearly as boring as I feared, looking forward to seeing this Apiary as well, its supposed to be one of the prettiest places in all of the Confederacy.
I hope its as pretty as they say.

We have a diplomatic representative coming south from Kog to the Apiary to meet with our leaders. The subject is peace with the /y/kings.

Before she arrives the military will have to be prepared.

We have about half a dozen Iron cannons; most production has gone to rifles.

The important thing before we begin is that we want to impress upon them that we can make guns and cannons. So the greeting will be with a three-gun salute using our local Mars pattern rifles and an empty shot from the cannons.

We want to make it clear - we can take the /y/kings, but we choose not to. Yet.

We don't want to be too threatening. Just the right amount of impressive and intimidating to make the Queen less likely to get stubborn about the peace treaty or think she can take advantage.

On a subtler note, I'm having a feast prepared with all the different crops found in Confederate territory. Potato chips (pink and fried in Butterroot Oil), rice, corn, mashed potatoes, honey, etc. Everything to show that we're also valuable trading partners.

We don't actually have to SAY what we have if we show what we have.

I'm also arranging for a hot-air balloon to do a flyover and for everyone to be in their tower-made Sunday best silk clothes.

The general message is, "We're much better friends than enemies." We'll see if she gets the message.

The Apiary is almost idealic in how beautiful it is. A large open area of orange-red grass a sparse trees with farms and 'bee' hives dotting the open landscape. The large solid stone manor and the surrounding homes all give it a very carribean plantation like feel.
Although the presence of all the soldiers sort of breaks that feeling, what with their firing salutes and the booming cannon.

So /tg/ has guns, well thats more than a little bit terrifying. They seem to be able to make a lot of them too, while we have only just managed to construct wooden disposable cannons for our ships, not good at all.
The number of men they have out in formation and how well equipped they are suggests they have a considerable military established, if they can dedicate their forces to garrisoning their coastal settlements, we will face a major problem if we tried to continue raiding them. If it came to a naval battle we could still probablly take them but it would take a fulls cale invasion of all the fleets to match this and event hen im not sure fo our chances. The hot-air balloons are a bit confusing as well, how did they manage those?

Heh.

Hehehe, they didnt even need to make an actual threat and Im already worried about how we would fare in a fight with them, I wonder who planned it all out.

The platter theyve set out seems equally well thought out, I see things I havent eaten since I arrived in /y/ and prepared in manners I can't even describe. I suppose there really is more to the fa/tg/uys and the ca/tg/irls then we ever imagined, certainly more than the creepy little hobbyists we'd come to expect.
They even have these wonderful silk clothes, well tailored and of beautiful material, Im determined to get a few examples to take back, a nice dress would win over Majorie and Rosamund. Im certainly starting to see Cassandras point more clearly just having been here for a couple of day.

There are a large number of councilors here, and there's no need for me to rush to be first. One of the great weaknesses of being clever is wanting to show other people that you're clever, so you go out of your way to make a point of it.

Here, that just makes me a target. Showing off speaks of arrogance, and that invites attack. It is far better to wait and have patience.

I do have pride, however. So I made sure that the plates were clay plates from Butterroot. I made sure that it was mentioned that Butterroot cooks prepared a number of dishes. The soldiers firing the salute were Boyz from Butterroot as well - and the hot air balloon was one of our own manufacture (as are almost all of them) a fact I didn't bother to conceal. One thing I did do personally was leave a small bowl of marijuana cigarettes in her quarters just before she arrived - stamped with the seal of Butterroot Keep again.

When I got around to greeting her, I didn't bother bragging or explaining. I simply introduced myself as Mayor Omegon of the small town of Butterroot Keep. A simple, polite, direct greeting with nothing too spectacular attached.

Kog is the capital and the sleeping giant. But Butterroot Keep is hugely influential despite being very small. In truth if we weren't so clever we'd be an insignificant backwater well removed from the rest of the Confederacy and largely forgotten. Well, actually the Confederacy wouldn't exist without me, but I refuse to take full credit for that - it makes me dangerous to our enemies again and seem humble. I only mention it if it's a useful club to get my way through some dense councilors skull, and even then I try to do so obliquely.

So if nothing else, it's partially a test of her skills. Will she realize how influential the Keep is? Will she get the message that I am someone important to convince of her convictions?

I'm playing the role of simple small-town mayor. So if she doesn't get the message I get a more honest look at her.

I've bough myself a gun. I showed up in the small arms shop on Sliver Street and I was greeted by a massive ushanka-wearing woman. I told her I wanted to buy a concealable gun and she burst in laughter. She asked if I wanted something packing some punch. I said yes. How foolish.

She showed me the "pride of the bugger motherland", some bloated replica of a colt. She loaded a paper shell and led me to the firing range.

« - Here, you try. Don't do anything stupid with it or you won't survive long. »

I unlocked the crude safety, grabbed the grip tightly and fired. The gun hit me in the face with the recoil, but the target was properly torn to pieces by the burning hot rock shrapnel.

« - If you are too weak to hold the gun like that, fire from the hip. You should train to be less weak. That's the way of Buggy. »

I bought the gun and a dozen of shells. Now I have to say that I feel rather safe with a small shotgun in my belt.

I've also been busy at work. With the development of the river trade, the companies need more barge and there is already some talks of a regular line to Kog, with maybe a barge every two days, by a consortium of 7 smaller boat unions. Needless to say the shipyards have been hiring and I've been promoted because my quartermaster has been appointed to another drydock. Now I've got to manage the inner waxing of the hull. To understand this, think that the hull of a barge is like a sandwich where the bread is planks and the steak is a 2-inches thick layer of beeswax. Of course the planks are dipped into hot wax too to make them water resistant before assembly, but that doesn't make it waterproof. On the other hand, a massive layer of beeswax poured in the gap between the inner hull and the outer hull is a cheap and easy way to ensure the barge will never leak. After all the gap is filled, we scrap the lines formed by excess wax pouring from the holes, and we can finally let the support plank loose to lauch the boat into water.

really something like the Confed would have arisen in time I get the feeling. Though Kog may have been more direct with its unification of settlements.
>>
>>29928211
It already existed in an informal fashion, I think. Kog had already founded Salt City, Mine City, and controlled River city, as well as being close allies with Cadia.

In a lot of respects all the Confederacy did was formalize it and regulate humanitarian rules and trade.

We brought the barge back on the shore. Now we are sure it floats, we have to make the inner parts. Hopefully there is nothing really complicated : a wooden floor, an upper deck, a cabin, a small mast. Other teams have already prepared the planks and the ropes in advance for us so it's done in less than two days. A last day for the details, the proof-waxing and a few (rare) steel nails to make sure everything will stay together and we're done. The last thing to do is putting a name on the barge. HPS Akroma, as the customer wishes. The management gave all of us a bonus, as we were more than on time. But beware of the excesses tonight : tomorrow we will start building another barge.

Everyone else was going at the Tankred Pub in Newcron Street, but I had other plans. I grabbed my nicest leather pants (well, the less stained one), my nicest pair of suspenders and my whitest shirt and I went straight to the daycare. It was late afternoon.

I waited till the end of the day playing with the kids, but I noticed something : there was no children books to tell them stories. I shouldn't have mentioned stories : Nina gave me an imploring look as the kids had gathered around me. There was no retreat, no surrender : I had to tell them a story. They wanted stories.

« - So, it all begin with the Emprah. The Emprah was alone on his world so he invited his friend. There were a lot of friends, 20. It is as much as all the fingers in my hand, plus all the fingers in my other hand, plus all the fingers on Nina's hand. There were really different : you had Fulgrim, who was really nice, Vulkan who had a black skin, but the best friend of the Emprah was Horus. Horus was really strong. Together, they went exploring the stars... »

After half an hour of storytelling, the parennts finally came to pick their kids up.

« - And after that, Horus decided he would have more cookies for himself if he didn't had to share with the Emprah. But I'll tell you that story another day. »

Well the people here are interesting at least. The councilors were first to greet me naturally, exchanging names and titles they stike me as a strange and eccentric lot to be sure. Each one of them seemed unique in their own bizarre way that made them stick out brightly in my memory. Probablly a necessity for elections here, if you arent memorable Id bet youd just be quickly forgotten about.

There were also leaders from the settlements other than the major three, Kog, River City and Cadia, and they all spent a good time talking my ear off about the success of their new homes. Well except for two. The Salt City rep just bowed his head to me, gave me the stink eye and walked away without saying anything. Probablly still sore over the last raid, too bad, thats life.

The other was a strange little man calling himself Omegon. He wasnt really all that important, he was mayor of the Butterroot place responsible for my escort and a few of the nicer products Id seen so far, but otherwise he seemed unimpressive. So I mostly just tuned him out. His wife however, this striking lady with a skull and crossbone eyepatch and a hook for a hand made me thinkg that /tg/ had been hiding pirates from us. She has that spark of real fire in her and I know she's got to be the real power in the Keep, even if it was only a backwater town.
Close behind them a pair of pretty little twin girls followed, their daughters. Feeling a bit of weaknes, I knelt and said hellow with a broad smile and handed them each one of my brass bangles with the elaborate S, which was my fleets crest, as a gift. It was a nice to see a smile brought to childs face again, /y/ had incredibly few even now.
The rest flew past in an uninteresting haze, only a few others stood out as interesting or as possible threats.

As we enter the chamber I project the image of the confident and powerful Queen and face the leaders of /tg/ with a smile, I am still the leader of warriors and I will not be intimidated.

Understand this, lady. In River City, we execute rapist and slavers. The only reason you aren't dead is that you're a member of a diplomatic entourage. Every woman in my family is a survivor of rape. I would like nothing better than to personally execute each and every one of you. However, even I can understand realpolitik. We're here to make peace and open trade. Even I will not stand in the way of the peoples will.

While the actual meeting would wait until both /y/ and /b/'s representatives were present at the Apiary the first impression was interesting.

She was a soldier, not a politician. Her dismissal of me was part of that, but a lot of it is in her bearing. Or perhaps I should say a warrior.

I knew a good few female soldiers; in my time I've also known warriors. Warriors are different in that they tend, in the modern era, to be survivors of the slums and low places. They place value on pride, accomplishment, and like to show it all off. Honor matters, and it's not about thinking, but about showing people how awesome you are so they don't mess with you.

Well, every place in this world is a hard-slum compared to earth; those that survived the hellish first waves often become warriors.

A soldier is a professional. They can be proud but they hold themselves to rigorous standards. They don't wear body paint, complex livery or so on. Soldiers are, in a word, boring.

They're also much more dangerous in many respects.

Warriors aren't easy to manipulate and they are easy to manipulate at the same time. If you understand enough not to insult their pride but can present obstacles as challenges they have to overcome to be taken seriously, you can get them to do quite a lot.

She was obviously capable of foresight by coming here. Probably educated in the old world, turned into a warrior in the new world. But not a political thinker. A solidly smart warrior-queen, just like the ancients used to make.

So keep it solid, concrete, and practical. Don't treat her like an idiot. Don't insult her pride.

Yes, I understand quite well what she is. And through understanding, I have power.

Ah! Good welcome, wonderful to see you, have you had some of the honeyed corsair? Its quite good, have some, here! Oh, and here have a glass of Stygian Wine, our specialty you know!
Hmm, some of the citrus fruit to I think, and some of the berries, plate full? Good lets walk and talk, have a little chit chat.

I finally met Avic at the Exchange Plaza. It was a bit surrealist, half of the crowd was cheering, another half was screaming bloody murder. The Watch was threatening would-be rioters with their buggers shotguns. While I don't think this demonstration of civil unrest was of best PR effect, I didn't really mind.We get into the cart, and we soon went back to the Old Keep.

We talked for maybe two hours in the library, devising about the Honeypot and Bubonicus, and we've had enough of political jousts pretty soon. My points were rather clear : keep the Rayon Road open, and guarantee the independence and well-being of the tribes in the Land of /b/ones. He seemed to agree, but after all it was the points the Overlord of fort Pox agreed on six weeks before.

We appeared on the balcony of the tower a bit later in front of the population, both of us delivering a small speech about peace, respect and trade - populist, mind you, but I have to keep my job after all. After a ceremonial handshake with most of the city's elites, I led Jenna and him to the tortollo caravan I've ordered - Rogue Traders, Inc. - and bid them farewell.

I had my agents follow the caravan and reporting to me regularly. Boredom was probably the biggest threat in their trip : the weather was clear and, even if it was cold in the high passes, it was more than acceptable under a ton of furs.

They finally reached Nuln. I had given orders to have the city a bit "cleaned" before their arrival, but I doubted they would be able to do anything about the mud. To be really honest, they weren't supposed to stop, but the priestess wanted to see the nurglite coven there. I heard that a local bootmaker offered them a pair of sturdy leather boots. Now that's advertising.

From Nuln to Camp Abaddon, they were left under the hands of one of the most experienced barge captains. They had the whole HPS Akroma, the latest design from the Nuln Shipyards S.A, for themselves. They reached the camp without problem.

Took some men out raider hunting to test out our Mk 3 Rifle. More grooves, tighter twist to the rifling, improved bolt mechanism. Some days I wake up from dreaming of burning cities. I don't know if they're Builder dreams or just me. I didn't stay long at the peace conference. I said everything I needed to say when we decided wether or not to make peace. One of those people hit on me. I wished I could kill her then and there. Was this what it was like every time my mother saw my grandfather? When my sister saw her at-the-time boyfriend? We found a pack of raiders "in the act" so to speak. I don't remember the fight. I just remember my assistant stopping me from bayoneting a corpse. I'd stabbed it 27 times before he stopped me. Radar, (that's his nickname, his real names O'Riley) led me back home and put me to bed. I'm losing it; I feel like my cousin who came back from Afghanistan. Trench poems keep running through my head. Sometimes I think I'm back at Cadia, fighting the /b/astard. Sometimes I dream I'm in Vietnam, even though I'm only 24. I'm only a third-waver, for Gods sake. Why is this happening?

So now we are running protection for foreign diplomats, I guess that sort of fits with our work as the 'border control', but I never expected wed be working as protection of a bunch of guys from /b/ of all places. The Honeypotters seem to get a long with them well enough and made sure they were well taken care of until they were handed over at the Abaddon camp docks.

They do seem like sensible enough people and even requested a chance to look around and see how we have been managing the wave issue. He explained their methods, using 'Games' to seperate the people by their skills and talents quickly and then shipping them off straight to their new life. I suppose the nature of /b/ wouldnt really allow for the same method as we run, to many people arriving to quickly. He was very interested in our methods anyways, asking questions and seeming to take everything in as we walked around Camp Abaddon. Even as we passed the stocks with a pair of men sitting with their arms and legs secured he made an appreciatvie noise and muttered something about 'idiots' as we moved on. The priestess, Jenna, was quieter only really speaking up to question about the state of religion of in the camps. Not much really, only the paladins had really set up shop so far and they mostly kept out of the way.

Once the tour was over I left the delegation to rest for the night in their guest quarters and in the morning we shipped off in the Arvus provided by the WTTC to us. Because of the importance of the talks I would be accompanying them to the Apiary and participating in the talks myself if the chance presented itself.
The trip wouldnt take long, the Arvus were well suited to the rivers and we had a stiff wind behind us, but still I slipped a magnetic chess set on with us, it would be interesting to see how good this scholars chess game was and a good way to pass the otherwise boring rive journey.

Honeypot was a pleasant stay, the booing and near riot aside, and Im happy that the talk with the Brewer himself was just a formality in the end. The pomp and ceremony wasnt needed for my case but Bap in the ned is a politician who needs to play to his voters so the masses get what the masses want.

Nuln was significanlty less impressive, wet, dirty and pretty much everythign I've come to expect from the average village of Bubonicus. But Jenna wanted to talk to her 'brothers and sisters' on matters of the faith. Then she even forced me to hold a damn talk on passages of the reformed book of nurgle, like it was a bizarre book club of some sort. It makes me wonder what exact criteria we are using to recruit people into the religious caste right now, that or the Black Rot cure causes brain damage. Would explain a lot.

Then we go to see the so called Camp system of the Confenderacy and I was blown away by the level of sophistication a bunch of kids have cobbled together. Not only do they have an organization to handle the whole process they also have a system that takes the newbies and teaches them everything they need to know about living in this world. Unlike our games which just find what aperson is good at and throw them at the job. At the very least Bubonicus might consider a dedicated force to round up newbies. The stocks were a nice touch as well, perfectly humiliating for those idiots who cant think of better to do than to act out.

Now we are on another damn boat ride, at least it just a river as I usually get sea sick, and im passing the time by taking turns losing at chess with the leader of the DWA, Lucky Rooster, and exchanging stories about the most bizarre things we've seen since coming to Lenore. Id be winning hands down if this were 3D chess of course, but nobody has a set so I suppose I'll never get a chance to actually prove that.

Finally we are here!
I seem to have still managed contract sea sickness and spent a good portion of that trip throwing up into a bucket. Which sadly meant I missed seeing Koganusan, the Confederacies unoffficial Capital, which is rather a shame as Ive heard it described as the 'Rome' of the old builder lands. Im still not quite sure what builders are but im starting to suspect they are made up or figments of someones delusions.

My stomach calmed down well enough for the last stretch to the Apiary at least and I caught sight of several columns of men marching down along the river bank, armed and armoured to the teeth and flying the banner of the Confederacy like we'd seen at the Camp.
Even when we arrived the military presence was very tangible what with their loud and obvius displays. The weapons impress me, more advanced and more well made then I would of suspected but the numbers are nothing. The Warrior caste of Bubonicus easily outnumbered them and, I would imagine, could out fight any one of them when on equal footing. But numbers mattered little when face with disciplined forces with superior weapons such as these.

Well I suppose its good they arent our enemies anymore, we want trade with these people, they have enough to offer and they arent stuck in the stone age simply because they got stuck in a world such as this. Im suprised to say it but /tg/, is not full of idiots.
Oh they have their share, but Ive seen enough to let me know that at least somewhere in this land are people such as myself fighting and thinking to keep it from going under.
Such is always the case, the few capable of greatness driving the world of sheep forward.

One of the benefits of the new world is the lack of cars. I don't get seasick but I get horrendously carsick in just about any land vehicle, so rivers suit me just fine. I certainly recognize the pale-faced look of someone who is very, very nauseous because I wear it every time I've ever been in a car.

So I do feel for the /b/ representative. I haven't got a good feel for him - a person isn't able to show much of their true selves when they're pale as a ghost and concentrating on not throwing up.

When I noticed I decided to delay the ceremony and let their party rest on the shore for an hour or so. Technically they were held up with 'diplomatic red tape', but in reality it was so the spectacle wouldn't be totally lost on him - and so he could stomach looking at food when he arrived.

Seeing a sick man gives me no gauge on his mind; a sick man just wants to not be sick. So while they were held up I had a runner come up and offer them a bucket of drink. It was actually a mad scramble to find something like mint or that could calm the stomach. Creeping rose tea with honey was the closest I could come up with. We'll see if the time and drink helps. If I'd thought about this possibility I'd have bought some pepto bismol from the grey market before coming. Damn my lack of foresight!

I'm not taking credit for it. This isn't an offer to impress anyone; it's necessary for my other maneuvers to work right.

So once it's done he'll get the same treatment as the Queen; same greeting. Same layout, same pot in the bedroom. Lots of fine alcohol for both. We'll see how he tests.
>>
>>29931670
Ive never been much of a religious man but god bless the man who sent me this tea, its a miracle worker for the stomach even if the honey makes it a litle sweet after all the retching.

Once I managed to catch my breath I joined my escort up towards the Manor where this was all supposed to take place. And they have a full procession out how wonderfull, an intimidation tactic of course, if sublte, I would of gone with a parade myself, emphasize precision and unity of different groups but the firearms sophistication and their three round salute is impressive I suppose. The Hot air baloon is what catches my eye though, guns could of been the work of a red neck with a gun hobby, the canon a result of repeated testing and even the number of men could be little more than another charismatic leader.
But the Hot Air balloon, that meant there was intelligence here and a drive to develop and improve what they had. Then there were the applications such a thing could have in military and civilian roles, interesting.

The smell of food is wafting to me as well, and though Im still recovering from the sick feeling I can still tell its of great quality, at least for Lenore. But my attention is on other things, my eyes sweep the crowd as I approach, darting towards my escort Lucky to see who he seeks out in the crowd. Who does he consider important?
A few faces stick out but Im unsure, I suppose I will need to actually talk with them to figure out who are actually the important people and who are the chaff. Wonderful, I hate talking to politicians, they're basically preachers for their own religion.

Lord Rodrigo must be displeased with my services. That's all I could think while holding myself to stay aboard this tied bunch of longs and wood we call a ship, as the sea ahead of us sent us up and down it's waves. Like hills of cobalt, forming deep valleys and steep slopes, except this hills moved. And quite a lot. It's wasn't even the worse storm we had since our departure two weeks ago. But it was still an unpleasant experience. Inside the boat, Me and other five serfs grabbed on ropes on the outside to try to stay on board, while the ordained knight stayed inside the cabin. Miraculously, nobody went overboard.

When the storm dissipated, we saw the first signs of land. A gray cliff raising from the seas, crowned by a dark stone tower. All looked very dark and morbid against the cloudy sky. Our guide was a serf, a man who once came from this lands. And a first waver. He was more experienced and tested in most of the ordeals of this world than us. But he had no experience at Lenore's seas. Few did, I suppose.
"There is a place we can land ten miles east, from there it's a walk to the Cathedral." He assured us.

The ceasefire between the confederation and /b/ couldn't come at a better time. We departed as soon as news reached us, hoping that this would grant us a easier time having an audience with the leaders, whoever they were. To be honest we knew little of this lands besides they have good doctors. And for that we had a dire need. We are losing people to diseases everyday back at the keep. And we don't have a single medicine men.

Our guide was right, we made to the coast safely and fast enough, ten miles ahead. Then we landed. Eleven men. Five serfs dressed in rags carrying our luggage, including our guide. Four knights dressed in leather armor, with steel swords and tabards of the order, the leader, Sir Lucas, carried out standart. And me. A scribe with nine fingers, wearing the red robes. Now we marched to the Cathedral and hope they will grant us audience

We seem to have guests. People who arrived from /tg/ via some rafts, they call themselves Knights, how strange. Well, I had my Death Guard meat them and escort them to the city. For now they will have free roam under an escort and be provided a place to stay in the city along with food but they will have to wait until I am ready to entertain them, I do need my beauty sleep after all.

The difference between villainy, heroism and damnable reality is practicality.

Several people quietly accuse me of controlling the Confederacy with an Illuminati-like hand. This is far from the truth. I'm really just a normal person scrambling to out think others. Most old-world politicians and others could easily outmaneuver me. I had enough poison in my past that I'd never be a good old-world politician anyway.

The reason that what I do so often works is that everything I propose benefits everyone - not always equally, but always about as fairly as can be managed. And when the stupid oppose this for stupid reasons, I'm equally likely to use a very large stick to bash them across the head with. I'm not afraid of intimidating others but I'll only do it when it matters. That means others will stick up for me when I threaten the stupid for opposing me, rather than just fearing me.

Society exists because it simply works. Even a bad king is better than complete anarchy - and a good democracy is better than anything. Good isn't just a silly fru-fru concept. It's not a weakness, it's a tacit agreement. "I won't screw you, you won't screw me." It doesn't always work, but that's largely what it comes down to.

And it's great because when two humans with common interests (such as making their lives better) work together instead of fighting, everyone benefits.

And that is my goal. Everyone benefits, everyone gains. Even our enemies.

You see, I have a mission; a goal. I'm a maltheist - and deep down, I hate and resent anything that could hurt what matters to me.

A villain cares only about themselves. But I myself am only a tool to help carry out my plan; my body and mind are expendable in the pursuit of that goal.

The one thing that is never expendable - the one thing that never CAN be expendable - is humanity. I love the entire human race like family - even the most evil among us. And like wayward family, I will punish them harshly. But they are family in the end.

Cutebolds; Builders; I would not hesitate for one second to kill every last one of both species if they threatened mankind on this world. Without hesitation; without remorse, I would kill each and every last one with my own two hands. When I first met the Builders I was absolutely ready to do that.

Only mankind matters.

But right now they benefit us. They're friends of the family, so to speak, and I'll help them until they prove otherwise. That only benefits us.

And that's the point. I don't hate them. Even if I killed them all I wouldn't hate them. I just love humanity so much that I'll kill anything that threatens it. Anything.

The Ethereals have made me rather upset, and these peace talks are a part of fulfilling both of my overall goals.

Benefit for all mankind and punishing the Ethereals.

Human lives saved now is human knowledge saved now. Knowledge saved now is firepower tomorrow, and benefit for all mankind tomorrow. And knowledge and power will let us rip the so-called godlike aliens apart. When we are ready - when we are advanced enough - I am confident mankind will do it even without me there.

Not for us; we'll be a long forgotten memory. But because I know that deep down mankind as a whole runs on the same system I do. And they will not tolerate something that causes us to suffer or deigns to tell us what to do. The arrogance of the Ethereals will lead to that, no question.

Long after my bones are dust my actions in this peace meeting will help me kill every single Ethereal through the hands of my descendents. And when that is done, THEY will be the gods.

And that is all that matters.

Day 104:
The beginning of the journey back to Redwood was quiet, I remember seeing the faces of the men and women I was leading back home. They seemed to be in a daze, as if what had just happened was all a dream. I'm not sure whether it was from an elation that peace had been brokered or disappointment in how easily Reed had dominated the conversation. I'm scared, scared that I'm becoming too distant and withdrawn from the people under my leadership. Hell, I don't even lead most patrols anymore. Some of the more senior soldiers have taken up a role as sub-leaders. As soon as we get back I'm going to have to formalise that. Until then I guess I'm going to try to reintegrate myself with the soldiers, now is no time to be alone.

Many of the Barbarians seemed surprised when I stopped leading the host and dropped back to chat. It felt so good to finally be able to talk about things that weren't diplomacy and war again; discussions about That Guys, old campaigns, the 40k gambling ring which was establishing itself in the fort, and gaming nights which we hosted. It was nice, they've even invited me to a game of Pathfinder one of the junior recruits is hosting. I guess even when we're on a distant planet and brokering for peace with raiders we're all still fa/tg/uys at heart.

I saw Rick in the rear, chatting to one of the more petite female soldiers we have. There's a funny story behind those four girls, tiny girls who demanded to be Barbarians. Tried assigning them to Engineers or Production resulted in them storming into a Pentumvirate meeting and starting a shouting match which ended up with Lisa storming out and some harsh words and yelling from Genevieve who I reckon damn near tore their heads off. Chen just kinda slank back into his seat and Frank was laughing his god damned arse off. Hell, any one with that kind of fire, I want watching my back so here they are the "Harpies" which they've been affectionately nicknamed. Good luck to the Kid, he's gonna need it.

When you come right down to it, what matters is what benefits me.

Of course I want people to work together. But I want them to work together under my rule and under my leadership. They don't even begin to realize what a chance we've been handed here and that's good. I don't want the competition.

We've been kidnapped by godlike aliens. Do they stop to consider for a moment that might mean more than they realize?

I don't care about the Fedoran Empire. I don't care about taking over the /y/kings. I care about one thing only.

Living forever and becoming god.

When I grew up in that South American country in a cult, beaten every morning and passing out bloody and bruised, I was still sharp enough to understand how it really worked. It was all bullshit. We were all tools. Myself, my mother, my father - the whole cult. The leader did it to get laid and line his pockets. He was a short sighted moron, but a good teacher.

I left when the police raided the place and I got shipped back to America. For a long time I couldn't handle it - until I came across D&D. The ultimate expression of power, the ultimate way to let ones imagination run rampant. To the players I was god, and they did not enjoy my magical realm. It was always too perverse, always too pushy, always too personally hurtful. But they came back. They always came back, because I always knew the buttons to press. And they paid unto me my tribute; a sacrifice of their time.

And here I rebuild the cult of my parents; here I make it better. I make it in my image. I get to rape dragons and aliens, I get to break haughty queens and break the will of free men. It makes my heart sing.

Because deep down all that matters is getting to play god; getting to enjoy their worship. As the leader of the cult I grew up in taught me, it's all a tool to get what you want.

What I really want is to never play god again. I want to BE god. The aliens must have left something here - and I will search. Surely what John has done can be done again.

So I will evacuate my people; I will break Izumi. I will take over any nation in the world, break any bond, destroy anything or anyone. In my own way I love my people. But all power demands sacrifice, and there is no better sacrifice than the things you love the most.

Even now my armies fight off John's robots in an attempt to hold the line. My wives and daughters join Izumi's fleet. And I will go with them - tied in rope, but in charge all the while.

In a way I've already succeeded. My daughters are a form of immortality. Even if I die tomorrow they won't - and my blood flows through them. There is no erasing that. I will live on as long as the human race through them. Like Ghengis Khan, I cannot now be erased.

But I don't want that to be it. I will live forever, and I will become god. I will kill all the other men and claim all the women as my own forever. The whole world will be my magical realm, with my blood flowing through every body, every child I have, and every child I have with them. Forever.

The /y/kings will help me find the way. Soon. Soon. Soon.

Because damn do I miss cheetoes. And two cans of chili made with a block of cream cheese, a block of cheddar, and a tub of sour cream. Mmm. Maybe some Parmesian.

And the cola! I miss a two-liter in each hand, a 4chan to browse, and triple-bacon cheeseburgers. Hmm. And ham stuffed meatbread for dessert. Maybe some Bacon Icecream for an after dessert snack.

So I'm going to get the /b/ representative to send us hambeasts. He'll send ALL the hambeasts if it's the last thing I do! Bacon! Bacon for every man woman and child!

After I'm done getting my fill, of course.

Honor. That's what matters most.

In old terra, honor was a thing of the past. Something that was treated like antique. Some still claimed to have it, but that doesn't matter, because as a social value, honor was dead. Society didn't care for the reputation of their leaders, and people only cared with getting away with their wrong doings. Not getting caught was always more important than not doing wrong.

But Lenore doesn't need to be this way. Lenore doesn't need to repeat the same mistakes we made on earth. When we threw away something precious and treated a virtue as if it was a fantasy. When we stop believing in heroes and chivalry. Lenore need not to be this way.

A warrior caste to lead by example, not just to protect the others, but also to teach them, to show them they path. Bushido, the Code of Chivalry, it's not a coincidence that the Warrior Code and honor are linked throughout history. War is chaos, but is by keeping yourself in the path of light in the chaos of battle that you truly show moral fiber.

I founded the Order of the Dragon to let a legacy. I will teach my knights the path of the True Warrior, the way of Dragon. And they will spread it, with time, by peace talks or in the edge of the sword, they will show this people that surviving is not enough, we must do so as a civilized people. Not the pseudo-civilization of the 21st century on Terra. But a true civilization, were the honorable will hold the power and the duty of protecting the weak, and punishing the wicked. Paladins, Knights, Samurais. They will, in a form or another, come to life again in this new planet. Our second chance.

And this shall be my legacy.
Ave Draconis.
>>
Justice. Justice is all that matters.

The strong must protect the weak. The guilty must be punished. Evil must be fought at every turn. In a perfect world there would be no need for people like me. No need for people who hunt murderers and rapists. No need for men who feel strongly for crimes committed 150 years ago. No need for men who dream of gulags and gas chambers. No need for vengence, for executioners. Lenore isn't perfect, can never be perfect; but I can drag it there, inch by inch.
>>
Politics, honor, justice.

Concepts prone to elitism and corruption. Fleeting philosophical concepts, fads.

What matters most is survival. It is one of our strongest instincts. People will do amazing and terrible things to survive. The need to survive can change a persons entire system of belief. The most peaceful man can become a bandit or cannibal cultist or worse in their attempt to survive given the right circumstances. I've seen it.

No, survival of self, survival of friends, family, civilization and survival of your race. That is what matters on Lenore. It doesn't matter in what shape or form, humanity must survive.

We must go on.

No matter the cost.

I suppose its finally time to properlly welcome our foreign guests. They won't be the first to have made the journey to reach us but they will be the fist sea farers, who weren't the ykings, to come reach us.

Seeing as thats the case, I believe a little bit of a spectacle was in order.
I had the Cathedrals massive stone doors swing open as they were led by their guide, two columns of Death Guard, the elite warriors responsible for the defense of the faith, marched out and then formed along the path inside. As one they drew their long forward curving swords and held them up in salute as the guests passed through.
Inside the Cathedral they were guided through the huge chamber that served as the main chapel of the Nurgle faith, lavishly decorated with its long rayon tapestries, murals carved into the walls and its hide covered benches. Many acolytes knelt or sat in prayer and contemplation, their bird like masks off and their dark ringed eyes revealed. While others stood around the hall in quiet discussions or watching the new arrivals.

I watched then from my vantage point as they were taken into a side door, one that would bring them up a flight of stairs leading to my reception chamber, a large hall covered in the old alien murals of battle and accomplishment with my extravagently carved throne, covered in animal hide and down pillows, standing on the far end. Time to head there myself, if I had timed it right they would be waiting only a second before I would enter and take my seat, flanked by my two skilled and trusted bodyguards in their heavy leather armor and iron masked helmets.

While I hoped to deal peacefully with them, I have long since learned that someone that fears and repsects you is less likely to try and screw with you. Hence all the intimidation tactics. We will see what they are made of.

This place was nothing like I ever seem before on Lenore. Being away from Terra for two years made me almost forgot how tall building could get, and I was used to the inside the living tree that was the keep. This was cold and different, yet full of life. After being escorted past their armed guards, we were conducts to this lady's hall, and our five Knights went down in one knee before our leader, Sir Lucas, spoke.

"Lady of the Stone halls, we came from across the sea in search of your might city whose tales reach beyond the borders of /tg/. We are Ordained Knights of the Order of the Dragon, and we came bearing gifts." He said as the serfs produce two big bags of coal and two big caskets of orange flour. Those were token of our products for trade. The real heart warmer I brought to her knees myself, hilt first. Lord Rodrigo's most well crafted sword so far, high grade steel. A bastard sword. If simple in design, by far one of the best human made weapons in Lenore for sure. "A more sophisticated weapon for a more civilized age." I whispered as I offered the sword, not without a smirk for the reference, hopeful Sir Lucas didn't heard it.

"We wanted to ask for trade relations to be established between our people. And we would humbly ask for doctors to be sent to our settlements and tend the ones that suffer there from plague." Sir Lucas finished, after the sword was presented. I stood there kneeling in my red robes of Scribe.
>>
>>29943741
I nod and smile at the mans words, more people seeking trade and the knowledge that we had managed to amass. I had hoped that we could make our nation seem more productive than threatening and now people made dangerous journeys just to ask for the chance to trade. THe Scholars work really had been a greater success than I had any right to expect, Avic in particular.

"Well Sir Knight of the Dragon, you have my attention." I wave my hand and several people move forward to collect and inspect the goods. A Scholar in his green robes takes the time to sift through the bag of coal, inspecting the pieces inside while another tastes the orange powder. One of my bodyguards steps forward and takes the offered blade, draws in slowly and gives it a few practices swings before turning to me and nodding.

"Good weight, well balanced and atleast as sharp as I keep my falx. Whoever made this knows what he is doing, I dont know about all of Lenore but its certainly one of the best I've seen aynone in /b/ or /tg/ carry."

My smile is genuine at that point, a great weakness we have faced is the lack of skill smiths, we had blacksmiths by now yes and they accomplished most work easily enough but none were really weapon or armor smiths and re-creating the skills was slow going. I glance back the scholars and one of them kneels down to pass on an analysis of the goods 'som sort of orange meal or flour substance, tastes strange but similar enough to our own durum flour, and true coal!'
I turned from my scholars again and focus my attention fully on the lead Knight, time to see what he will think of my offer.
>>
>>29944084

"Maxwell here has a good eye for weapons and if he says your sword is as good as that then im very interested. Now that sort of skill is very valluable nowadays and in exchange for, say, the doctors you need and for them to pass on some of their knowledge to your own healers, we would be very much interested in having some of our smiths learn the trade from yours.
An exchange of knowledge if you will."

I meet their eyes with my own but I blink and shake my head a little taken aback by myself and my own rudeness. It seems life in /b/ had deadened me somewhat to common social niceties.

"Oh and do stand up, there is no more need to kneel at this point. Though the gesture is noted. As to the establishment of trade relations, well, besides the issue of how you plan to transport goods from here to your home, I must ask what exactly you seek to trade for? Bubonicus produces mang things, from paper and books, to rayon, to sugar and etcetera. The question is what is it you seek?" "

I gesture for one of the servant to fetch drinks and food. It was time to treat these people as welcome guests, the gifts these people had brought were more than enough sign that they were not simply wasting my time and if we were fortunate, could serve as a second friendly voice in the Confederacy to counter those who still saw us as the enemy.

Sir Lucas showed proper manner, I am glad that my time teaching him etiquette in the boat was not lost. Originally from south America, Brazil I believe, he lost any trace of an accent, and was quickly to grasp the proper manners of 13th century court, which was the most appropriated to deal with the new lords of Lenore in name of a order of knights.

"Smiths for doctor, orange flour, that makes bitter but durable bread, for sugar. For our coal we would ask for rayon and paper in smaller amounts." He presents as he stands with a small and polite nod of head. "We can even provide you with similar weapons, if we get access to metal. Ironically, our great smiths must import the Iron we make into steel, for now, as we lack access to a mine. But given the materials we could arm your personal guard." As he poses his proposal to her consideration I watch as he struggles with the matters of transport. "It is true we are separated by a long distance by land, but much shorter by sea. The order has a ship that brough us here but I doubt it will last for long, makeshift as it is. We have commissioned two better ones, and we will be ready to start constant trade in likely six weeks." He proposes. I knew nothing of commissioned ships but I knew we had being having talks with Smee's shipyard. It was likely Lord Rodrigo kept me apart of that transaction, since my focus is the order ledgers.

"If those terms please your ladyship, we can arrange the transport of the first doctors with us, leaving one of our Knights here as a diplomat and ward to ensure we will keep our word, and be back with a couple trained smith's in circa four weeks."

I watched, my hand missing one finger concealed within the robes as I fiddle nervously waiting the answer, glad Sir Lucas manage to keep his face calm during the whole exchange, for I had not.

My fingers tap out a staccato on the arm of my throne as I mull their offer over in my head. The goods they promise are well worth what they would cost, particularly the coal, and if this Order of the Dragon would be footing the bill to establish the trade route it was hard to see the downside. We will have to eventually build our own ships eventually but that will take some considerable time and most likely Avics input on the whole matter, he could at least get the ball rolling. The only downside might be the need to trust them to hold up their end of the bargain after we sent our doctors several weeks ahead. But it wasnt a problem I couldnt work with.

"Yes Sirra, I do think that will work perfectly. Now my doctors will naturally be escorted by some guards, only for their protection of course. You will be welcome to send the same for your smiths of course. Now as to the matter of the trade route, we would prefer if you sent you to bring your side of the trade here for the exchange, seeing as you will be the ones in control of the ships. Your Knight will of course be welcome here as well and I believe we could even organize something of a tour of the land if you would like, see what Bubonicus is beyond these stone walls."

One of my servants returns and informs me that preperations are ready.

"If you would join me, my servants have prepared some food and drink, once we have this hammered out we can toast to both Bubonicus and your Order."

I lead them out through the side door out onto the grand balcony I had been watching them from previously. Several chairs had been stood out around a round table on which a several wooden goblets stood with clay pitchers of either our rum or wine. Platters with mixed smoked meats and fruits on a bed of cold noodles. This part was calculated if short notice, I wanted them to see that we were more than squatters in an alien ruin and that we were as civilized as /tg/ could ever hope to be.

We had dinner and I watched and took mental notes while the conversation between the Lady of this city and Sir Lucas progressed. Now i sit down and fill the official reports as I update my personal journal. They gave us a nice room to sleep in. Stone walls keeping the cold wind of the night outside. The knights have the serfs polishing their armors so the leather look shiny enough to pass as metal from a distance. We find a much more advanced society across the sea that we would have imagined. They had furniture, decent food and decent housing for their ruling classes, and even the mudbrick ones of the peasantry wasn't bad. I suggest that Sir Lucas propose a permanent embassy here. Trade will flow slowly at starts, with only two boats. But we believe they will add to the fleet in time, when the see the mutual profit. For now, the Order has someone interested in trading with us, and that is good. Hopefully their doctors will attract immigrants and those immigrants will thicken our ranks. Currently we count with fifty knights. Lord Rodrigo says we need ten times that and much better equipment if we want to be taken seriously by other factions and powers.

In the morning we shall take the offered tour of their lands, see how their people live. If this folks of /b/ are to become allies in the future, we must first be sure they aren't genocides, slavers or outright dishonorable. That will not stand with Lord Rodrigo. If they aren't, and if they want a allied foothold in /tg/s mainland, this visit might profit both sides much beyond trade.
>>
>>29950686
The discussions went well and we now have a trade partner secure even if they are far across the water. The trade with Honeypot will spread word of our goods but this contact with the Order will help spread the news of how much more we are than some cesspit of Lenore. Jenna and Avic were already working with the leaders of /tg/ but this would get the word to the actual people. We arent the slaver or cannibals that the Horde once was, now that may have started out of necessity in the beginning but then everything in this nation was directed out of necessity and we had come to pride ourselves on what we had accomplished. We were not what we once were and I planned to prove this to /tg/ if I had to force feed it to them.

An armed escort of thirty Death Guard, lead by Maxwell, would lead them around the surrounding villages and farmlands. They'd see our sprawling cultivated fields dotted by windmills both completed and under construction.
They might even have the time to visit Fort Tick, the closest township under the direction of Overlord Frasier. It was about as neat an example as one might hope of a Bubonican town, the mud brick houses were well constructed and the fort was a large brick and wooden construction, all well organized and at the centre of one of the largest durum wheat fields in the nation.

The preliminary council meeting went about as one might expect...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5GAGswWrGk

But not long after we were ready to receive the two delegates and begin.

The /b/ rep struck me as a bit of a well educated blowhard; reminding me distinctly of a few surgeons I'd worked with in my time, but less of an asshole. Of course it's actually rather difficult to be more of an asshole than a surgeon. On Earth I simply looked forward to the day when robots would replace them so I never had to work with another one of those asshats again.

In any event, be generous with the praise (but don't suck up) and respect him and he'll probably be reasonable as far as logical arguments go. Just don't bruise the ego.

And with that, we were ready.

"People of /tg/, we have delegates from /y/ and /b/ here with us today to discuss peace and trade. Let us begin. First on the agenda, /y/."
>>

Much to my regret these are the people that their cities have actually elected.

And are you talking about the Hadesopolis rep or that fellow in the sling bikini and horse mask that showed up when we were discussing banner colors for the Apiary?

Ah well, no matter.

People of /tg/! I am in favor of peace with /y/. We really have no reason to fight them except for retaliation for raids on our territory, which were few and far between.

That said, I'd like to make the peace agreement conditional on the proviso that any slaves taken from our section of the continent - which will soon stretch from the southern borders of /b/ to the northern borders of /y/ - be returned to Confederate territory as free individuals.
>>
>>29953332
Indeed it is sad when someplace believes sending a partially dressed lady is the best way to represent themselves.

Well I am hesitant to except any form of peace with /y/, due to our history with them, times have changed.

I move to support the move to return our people. They have a right to live a free life as all ca/tg/irls and fa/tg/uys should.
>>
>>29952999
>>29952937
Yes, well, I am here representing the /y/kingdom, this includes the duchy of /3/ and is own allegiance by the lands of Voyeur. But more than that I represent the newly formed Rainbow Alliance, which now joins the lands of /hm/, /lgbt/, /u/ and /y/ togehter.

As you are likely well aware I am a Warrior and a Queen but I am not a politician or a diplomat by trade so I will try to keep my points brief and simple. I am here to broker a peace so that our two nations need not fear one another when greater evils such as the Lord John exist or when it would be much smarter to open lines to trade so that the peace might last longer.

Not all of my people are eager for his to happen many, several of them fleet queens like myself, are more interested in crushing you before you can consolidate your power and keep you as easy pickings to raids. But the current dominant faction wishes to advance beyond what we are now, but to do so we need to show why we ever should.

Which is why im here, to see if something can be made between our two nations.
>>
>>29953225
>>29953436
I find it a little insulting that you assume my manner of dress has anything to do with how I was elected to my position. You seem to forget that I was the one who successfully secured Hadesopolis its borders when they were disputed by the expanding Battleborn.

I am quite capable, just because I refuse to be a stuffed shirt like some of you has no bearing on that. And don't pick on the youngster, I quite liked him.

>>29953551
Well you are right, you certainly dont *look* like a politician and I do like that creative use of chaimail, very sexy.

I do like the prospect of peace even if I know the sting of the raids is still present in many. >>29953332
A return of the Slaves would be a good condition on such a treaty however.
>>
>>29953551
I should point out that any hope of 'crushing' us before we consolidate our power is obviously ludicrous. I'm sure you noticed the wreckage of the SS Matt Ward on your way in, currently under repairs for our own use.

We completely defeated the Fedoran invasion using, what I am to understand, were some boats that used to belong to you. We are not just a series of huts on the coast armed with stone age tools; we're already consolidated, we have firearms and air power and although we cannot match you on the seas, we are simply impossible for you to truly defeat. Many of our settlements are simply too scattered, too well defended and too far inland.

Which is why we should simply make peace and engage in trade instead. We have no real direct animosity towards the /y/kings, as other than only a small handful of raids where only minor damage occurred we've had no interaction at all up until this point.

You fought the Fedoran empire for some time and couldn't destroy it. We are posed to end them forever.

Simply put you have nothing whatsoever to gain from continued hostility and everything to gain from trade. We have silk, we have a wide variety of terran crops, we have breeding programs for cats and dogs, and we have a variety of goods available.

But absolutely none of that will even be possible to consider without the return of our people. We're not comfortable with slavers in the first place, and slavers that hold our own people are intolerable. Simply put whatever you lose in unskilled labor you'll gain in food and goods and then some for trade.

I mean, you have those big vessels, we'll make nets for you. In return for large quantities fish alone I'm quite sure we could give you a wide variety of goods.
>>
>>29953551
Oh she thinks we haven't already consolidated our power. We've faced down larger armies than you can possibly field and made of tougher men than your half starved and oiled up sodomites. Don't think yourself so high and mighty because you call yourself queen.

We want peace because we don't want to put the effort into yet another war. We would rather start making friends and we're offering to drag you into the light of civilization. We have things to trade, no doubt you do too. So lets see what we have to offer but if you decide you'd rather go back to your raider lifestyle, you're welcome to try but do make sure you've completed your bucket list first.
>>
>>29953750
The return of your people? And I assume youve kept a list of them then?
Because as much as I happen to agree with Queen Cassandra that peace and trade are in our best interests I dont know how you propose we seek through all the thralls in /y/, which by law are property and currently owned by many of the more hardline /y/kings.

It will not be easy and it will not be over night but should this peace be signed then I can at least ensure that everything will be done to seek out which of our thralls are originally from /tg/ and see them returned to you. Beyond that I have no power to promise anything with regards to the thralls as, like I said, they are not my property to barter with.
>>
>>29953958
That's because they're no one's property. Take some of us fa/tg/uys with you, we'll point out our brothers and sisters in chains. That way more people will return home to their families.
>>
>>29953864
>>29953750
Believe me I would not be eager to face your men on the battlefield, you seem well armed and better organized than the Fedorans ever where.
But you underestimated the sheer numbers and fighting capabilities of the /y/ fleets and the allies that i can muster with it. You repelled amateurs and slaves on boats they didnt know how to properlly use.

-Ahem- But that is my pride speaking. Becaus I know any war between us would simply end in the death of so many of our people, both yours and mine, and no victory would be a true one.

Which is why im here in the first place, because continued hostility is pointless. I was simply pointing out that not all the Queens of my people are as reasonable and will see everything burn rahter than admit any kind of defeat.
>>
>>29954045
I think you are confusing your own morality for /y/s laws.

You also seem to ignore the power such people would have, to point out people who then need to be freed or risk violating the treaty, whether they are actually from /tg/ or not. I doubt any sovreign nation would be willing to concede to such terms.
>>
>>29953958
>>29954140

I don't know that the list will be comprehensive but we can provide a pretty solid list of anyone captured in our territory. Fedoran territory captures are a different condition; we're not sure we would want all of them back and some might be executed on return. We can probably skip them.

I will not encourage slave-taking or trading, but if there's anyone with some question as to their origin we could probably provide some goods to help grease the wheels. For instance, Iron and copper farm tools to make tilling the fields easier, or tortollo to pull a plow would more than replace the slaves.

Mind you, if anyone captures our people AFTER this we will likely want to simply annihilate that particular queen. And that is a message you can take back to your people.

We can't destroy all the /y/kings but we can certainly destroy one Queen's fleet, whoever she may be.

Ideally we'd want all of your slaves freed but we have to be realistic here. I will state for the record that /tg/ is more than willing to help the /y/kings transition to a non-slaveholding society.

But that's a matter you can go back and discuss with your people. You have our general proposal; peace, open trade and assistance with farming in return for our people back.

That's a pretty sweet deal and you cannot deny it.
>>
I still have yet to hear what varieties of meat the /y/kings have to trade. I'm sure River City would be particularly inclined to sweeten the deal if meat were in the offing.
>>
>>29954243
I speak of civilised laws but no matter, do we forget the ways of the Old World so easily? Do we descend into barbarism so quickly? My father immigrated from Mauritania through refugee camps; his parents before him were slaves. I've met friends on this planet from back home, I saw a good friend of mine: she was a slave to bandits. Do you know how hard it is to put a bullet through someone you've gamed and laughed with's head? I've seen what happened to settlements, I've lost friends to /y/ ships and have seen what condition and horrors you make your slaves perform.

It may be your laws but I will never support them, and the least I can do is to help free my fellow /tg/ers. Now if you excuse me I need a drink.
>>
>>29954409
Damn, another one bites the dust.
>>
>>29954257
If any yking, Captain or Queen raids your coasts again after a peace treaty is signed then believe me you have our full support as they will be violating our laws as well and would be nothing more than criminals ot us.

If you can provide a list then we shall do our best to track them down and have them returned as fast as possible. The iron and copper would help get them back faster shoudl they be in the hands of those less inclined to simply return them.

The ykingdom as anything other than a slave holding state will not transition easily, you understimate how stubborn or greedy some of my fellow queens are. No, if it ever transitions it will do so violently. Should your offer still stand and should the uh...right side prevail, then you can assume that another delegate shall be sent. You are right thats not a matter for now.

So will that be enough? The return of the people we can identify and a cessation of all raiding? What about the issue of trade?
>>
>>29954574
We will provide written lists of all people we know have been taken from our territory. We will provide some goods to kickstart trade upon delivery; probably some Iron tools, and if there's any question as to whether or not they're actually from /tg/ and they insist they are we'll provide you with some luxury goods as compensation. Liquors, our locally made colas, terran food items, etc.

As for open trade once that issue is taken care of we will open our ports to /y/kings looking to trade for goods as private individuals; we have plenty of corporations and businesses in our territory already. I believe any edible plant or animal or large quantities of fish will sell well, as would the heart-smails or snails or whatever the hell they're called people on the coast love so much.

As for large quantity government trade we'll have to see. We'd like to open up a formal embassy in your territory and allow one in ours. Once we know what we all have we'll be able to do that easily enough.

If that's it we'd like to move on to the ambassador from /b/ now. Your proposal, sir?
>>
>>29954409
Quite simply put, no, you havent.
You've seen how we act on the beaches. Deliberately terrifying and intimidating, raids thrive on fear and violence after all, the more terrified the victims are the less likely they are to fight back and force us to kill a potential thrall.

In /y/ they are treated well enough, given food and shelter. The handsome and pretty ones might be picked for less....savory duties perhaps. But the vast majority will find themselves performing manual labour or as simple servants, many find work on the shipyards.
And then thereis always the chance of elevation to position of yking themselves.
We are not Fedoran, we arent even as bad as /b/ once was.

So spare me your judgement or your support.
>>
>>29954574
To add a bit to my fellow councillor, trade with the confederacy will be open, but you have to understand one thing above all : no trade can happen without stability, security and reliability. If our wares are exposed to thieves and if the /y/king authorities aren't doing anything to help fending those thieves off, trade won't happen. I think I can speak on the behalf of the trade companies of the Honeypot, as much as we would be delighted to trade with you, we won't do it if it's too risky. You may want to know that's a major concern from our merchants and our standards about what's risky and what's not are pretty low : trading with /B/ubonicus is considered totally safe. River City, however, not so much.

You may also want to consider that most of our trading companies, and I speak for the Honeypot but probably the WTGTC and the EMC would agree : for trade to be possible and convenient for both parties, we would probably need to buy some plots of land in or near one of your port to make warehouses, exchanges and other buildings required for trade. Of course you could refuse, but that would mean that your islands will pretty much be cut from the "larger" market in terms of information about prices and buyers. Which, needless to say, is bad.

About the enslaved ca/tg/girls and fa/tg/uys, I would say that the Confederacy could exchange fedoran convicts for them, but that is just my humble opinion.
>>
>>29955119
I take offense to that, and I swear I have no idea what happened to the last three batches of salted tortollo meat that came into the city, and I once again STRONGLY deny allegations that they disappeared in my compound. I let them out safe and sound. You should probably blame the scarecrow from Kog. Probably trying to bulk up.

Also trading POW's for slaves just strikes me as... oogy. I get the feeling that would set a very bad precident.
>>
>>29954763
Huh? Oh is it my turn allready? One second, had a spark of inspiration dont want to lose this train of thought. Let me just. Jot. This. Dooown. Good.

Now, honoured Councilors of the Confederacy of /tg/, and your majesty Queen Sarisvata. May I introduce myself first, I am Master Avic Aquinna, head of the Scholar Caster of Bubonicus, Doctor, Invetor, recently, Theologist and close personal advisor of Lady S'ndra herself.

Bubonicus is the one true redoubt of civilization and sanity within a land of savagrey, brutality and idiocy. We build and fight to establish order and help build up the few tribes who thinkt he same to do likewise. I believe it is in your own vested interest for peace to exist between our nations, with no hostlities between our nations then we can both focus our efforts on repelling the threat of the wild /b/arbarians and with trade we may strengthen one another in ways we never could manage seperately

My offer is simple, a truce and ceasefire, so that our attentions maybe directed to more important matters. And for the our borders to be opened for trade lines between our lands. I believe those are reasonable enough suggestions.
>>
>>29955217
If it can reassure you, the trade company is really concerned, I guess it was... The ECT probably, can't remember. Anyway, next time they will send the Khornate Knights or the Sons of the Buggerland to protect their wares.

That being said I doubt if anyone can be identified after a blast from a bugger shotgun. We will never know if they were from Kog or River City.

About the prisoners, I will be very straightforward : we are going to put those fedorans in a labour camp. All of them. Simply because we can't afford to feed them to sit on their asses all day. Now I am humanitarian : if we ship them to the /y/kings, they will also work all day every day. The difference being that while in the Confederacy they have absolutely no way to become accepted members of the society again, there is redemption to be found in the islands. People there won't hate them, they will merely despise them. And our guys get to come back.
>>
>>29955382
Hambeasts, my good man. We desire large quantities of hambeasts and I for one speak of the whole of the Confederacy when I say that we will level all of /b/ if we don't get them!
>>
>>29955382
Seems legit, I approve, we should also open an embassy in each location with the usual provisos and assurances of safety, etc.
>>
>>29955576
Ah, if I may, the good Master Avic seems to have left out one key issue.
We would ask of you to open your borders, not only to trade, but to our teachings. Our priests already spread our faith to many others and we hope that they can spread the good word to even your people. We do not ask that you force them to listen but do allow us to speak.

>>29955439
If you question their character then please, ask miss Julie, she has met and seen our priesthood in action and understands the truth of their words.
>>
>>29955711
Hem, yes, we have nurglite covens in two of our cities - Nuln and the Honeypot. While they are not as popular as, let's say, the Paladins or the Church of the Emperor's light, they are accepted by the population. No troubles to public order as far as I know.

I personally don't care, and as far as my job goes I am supposed not to pick any side in that debate.
>>
>>29955711
We allow freedom of religion but technically that's currently considered a dangerous and subversive cult.

I'm not really in favor of religious exchange until we can be assured that the religion is not the same one we've encountered in the past.

I think this should be a city-state issue for now.
>>
>>29955711
Nurgle cults? Legal nurgle cults? While I am all for making peace with our former enemy to the north, on this I must pause. We spent a lot of resources and time purging the dangerous cults out of our lands in the early days and now we're to let one of them in? Potentially one of the cults that initiated the spread of blackeye beyond the borders of the nightmare woods? Sure you fine people may not be of the same group but that is what you people do is it not? Nurglites, spreading disease and sickness as they go? I don't think we could allow such a thing.
>>
>>29955576
I believe that is a sensible idea.

>>29955934
I think you'll find that the Church of Nurgle is a much different creature than what the Nurgle cult of the horde was but I can understand your hesistancy 'orange one', we will not push it, those who wish to hear the priests words will hear them and those who have other things to do wont. Its that simple
>>
>>29956253
Hmm. If you know me by that name you should know my stance on dangerous cults. As I said, I think this is something we can currently leave as a city-state issue.

But if it becomes a real problem - well, what happened to the Speaker of the /b/astard can happen again.

But should things have truly changed, I'm sure that will be unnecessary.

So, are there any other concerns that the delegates from /b/ and /y/ would like to bring up before we call this council meeting?
>>
>>29955217
Oh yes, I snuck over to your filthy town and stole all your meat. I bet you lost it in one of your folds or just accidentally sat on it and never saw it again.

>>29955711
Tell us more of your Nurgle cult, you all seem civilized unlike some riverfolk around here. Tell us more.
>>
>>29956253
I suppose master Avic is right, he did write the book that started the reformation into the Church of Nurgle.

>>29956246
>>29955934
And I suppose you have something against the spread of medical knowledge and free basic care? Our priests are dedicated to spreading good to the world. I believe any settlement with a chapel to Nurgle will see its lives improve.

At the very least do take these copies of the holy book, understand our faith even if you remain unbelievers.
>>
>>29956409
We do have actual hospitals staffed with medical personnel and a university to teach more, you know. If - I am almost certain - Dr Avec wishes to visit our university he may.

I'm not saying it isn't a possibility, just that it will take time. We recently had a war, after all. Patience is a virtue.

Day 105:
Most of today was walking back to Redwood; and it was obvious when the Skullz stopped following us. The look outs stopped feeling like they were being watched the second we entered our territory. The day was more chatting in much the same vein as yesterday; relaxing and enjoyable.

We got back just before sundown the troops were able to relax and I went off to deliver the news to the other heads. Lisa wasn't too happy about having to send back our prisoners but we didn't have a choice. We rounded the three of them up after the work day was done. We gave each of them some moss bread and pointed towards the woods. Told 'em to get moving back home. When they asked for their guns back we simply told them that we hadn't gotten back our weapons, they'd have to live with it.

What I was most impressed by was a rather short man who I was introduced to. An envoy from Sarn Ford, apparently the conversations had gone down spectacularly well. We'd trade them chillis and tomatoes in exchange for apples and pot. Apparently they didn't have enough tobacco to justify trading it away yet. They'd have an envoy and some guards here and we'd have an envoy and some guards there. It was a good deal.

We sat down over a cider and relayed stories, eventually talk got into Lord of the Rings and Tolkien's world, his city had been founded by a group of people who's only source of entertainment was a copy of The Fellowship of The Ring and had taken to it in a weird sort of way. He did seem happy when I promised to hook him up with an extra copy of the 3.5 Player's Handbook and some dice in exchange for some cider.

Apparently he's also commissioned a flag out of our two residential dying enthusiasts in exchange for some extra pot. He's a good man, and he knows how to bargain.

I tried a bit of gambling, ended up losing a week's worth of Berry Wine when one of the Med's Ultramarines were taken down by an Engineer's Goffs. Thank god for that cider else I'd have a week without booze.

Kity City has been our home for several years now but every so often it can suprise you with some hidden facet of itself. It seems I am instore for just one such suprises as I am led by former-Inquisitor Irwin leading me deeper intp the catacombs beneath the city. I say former because he has now traded his black overcoat and tall jackboots in for the blue many pocketed jack and shorter jackboots of the Kity City Iron Guard, the core of veteran soldiers, from the Inquisition and Sixth Columists, to the cities new military.

"Like I was saying, the 'bolds' got into a tizzy and insisted we unearth this section of the catacombs and bring down a full dig team, they go their way and for the last couple of days theyve been digging like mad. Then this morning they went nuts and demanded you be brought down to see something, wouldnt say what, just that you come."

I nodded silently, quite honeslty im annoyed as all hell, Ive been run ragged despite still recovering from my injuries just trying to prepare the city for whats coming and now im being dragged down here by a bunch of wombles to waste time. Then we enter the chamber and that all drains away.

In front of me, half covered in earth and rock, was nightmare monster made real through wrought iron and steel reflecting the light from the many glowing red stones that sparkled from the walls.
The cutebolds still scrambeled around to free it from its earthen prison.
But it was still quite clear what it was, this was one of the alien warmachines, like the ones piloted by the Fedorans, though it was taller by far.
It was built like a large monstrous skeleton and with a face twisted into a terrifying horned visage.
Maybe this wasnt such a waste of time after all.

Nina brought me to a part of the town I didn't knew yet. A maze of dimly-lit muddy streets with enigmatic obscure names like "Anal Circumference Street" or "Crud Street". We finally arived in front of the Skub. The Skub looked like any dockside warehouse, and a couple of bugger bouncers were filtering the people entering.

We went inside together. It didn't look crowded, but after inspection this place was huge, and there could easily be like 200 people around the various tables or at the bar. Nina took my hand and led me to an empty table. A waiter came soon.

« - What do you want tonight, miss Nina ? I guess you don't need to see our lists right ?
- I will take your KT SoB/IG 500 special #35 please.
- I see. And you sir ?
- I don't know what the fuck is going on, man.
- Don't worry, we'll be playing together. Please bring us a bottle of mead and two cups.
- Do you require a heretic or a xenos to match you ?
- Sure.
- Noted. I'll be back in a few minutes
- Please Nina tell me what the hell is happening here, please. »

I learned we were at the largest tabletop bar in Nuln. Here you could play against everyone on nearly all the tabletops available in the Confederacy. The waiter brought us our mead and a box holding a Killteam army of the Ordo Hereticus, a balanced force of sister of battle and soldiers of the imperial guard. The miniatures were cast in beeswax, with wooden bases and plant-based colours. Nina explained me the rules for a few minutes, then our opponents arrived. They were a group of caravaneers wanting to blow out some steam in a fun roleplay battle, and that was perfect for us. They had an army of the L&D led by a small team of Alpha Legionnaires.

Despite having breached the defences and routing half their army, we didn't manage to get on time to the sorcerer : they opened the chaos portal, and our commander had to finally activate the bomb to blow up the entire hive. It was probably the best 2 hours I've had since I am on Lenore.

Ever since the succession from the Fedoran oppression the city of KC has been scrambling to ready itself for inevitable retaliation. The first step was the reestablishment of its own military.

First amongst the new military was the Kity City Iron Guard, well armoured and equipped with former Angry Marine equipment and formed from the ranks of former 6th Column fighters and Inquisition muscle they are the solid experienced core around which the rest of the military will be formed. The new drill sergeants and MPs are also being taken from these ranks to help train the other fresh recruits and keep them in line.

The next is the Semtexian Bombadiers, a unit of former KC soldiers who managed to 'retire' when the Fedorans took over and from many of the slaves who worked directly under the Whizzards in production of their damn piss bombs. Armed with repeater crossbows, long knives and an array of explosives lifted straight from the Whizzard play book and clad in the same armor as the Iron Guard, though they have adopted a strange helmet in place of the Iron Guards hat.

The Freedmen Legions will however make up the bulk of our military, formed from the newly freed slaves who are amongst the most zealous in preventing the Fedorans from retaking the city. Due to our limited resources they only have light protection from a light leather jack and are armed with either spontoons or with crossbows, if kept together formations their numbers should help them prevail, which is why our drill sergeants are focusing on this in their training.

Finally we have the Volunteer Thermite Lancers, who are exactly what their names imply. Their recruits have been taken from KC citizens and the healthier of the former slaves and have been armed with either the thermite lances or 'fire spears' or with newly forged billhook type pole arms.

The KC military isnt the best armed or the best trained, but you wont find a more dedicated fighting force in Lenore.

We walked a lot in the streets, talking about our lives both on Earth and on Lenore. Nina is a sad, nerdy and really homesick ca/tg/irl, but I guess we are all a bit nerdy here, and I know we are all homesick. At her place, during the next hour I tried to make her forget about her sadness in the moist air of this rotting city.

I departed in the early morning, leaving a kiss and a note with my address. Sun wasn't even up, but the weather was already too hot and wet for my tastes. I was walking on the riverside when I heard heard some shouting. Shouting, in a street, at maybe 4 AM. Suspect as fuck, right ? But I was still full of testosterone, so I grabbed my bugger handshotgun, loaded it and went to see what happened.

3 thugs were kicking a man down on the docks. I was unsure how to do, so I shouted them to freeze. One of them tried to pull a gun out.

I shot.

The guy dropped down dead, a second one screaming because the shrapnel was stuck in his arm. The third one jumped in the river and the other one ran away. I was all shaking, unsure about what I just did. I went to help the man on the ground. He was bruised and bloody, but I did recognise the guy who saved my money from the cheater at the tavern on my first night here. I brought him back at my place, patched him up the best as I could, got a new bucket of water, locked the door and went to work.

When I came back on the evening, he was sitting on the bed washing his bandages in the bucket.

« - I think I owe you a lot, right kid ?
- No, we're even. This wasn't a simple robbery, right ?
- You're right. They were ordered to kill me... Fuck my head hurts... Did you throw the bodies in the water, lad ?
- No, I was busy carrying you, you know, to save your ass.
- Fuck, now the Watch will have to take care of that... Fuck. I didn't ...
- Of course we're heading to the watch, you were fucking mugged in the street.
- Oh no you both aren't going anywhere. »

Right, well I've been ask to give a Dossier about the Tunnel Sn- I mean RATS and The Munchkin Irregulars, so here I go.
So the Tunnel Rats were a gang that operated Topside, before a much larger (And now ‘retired’) pushed them out of their turf. Then by accident they discovered the Catacombs, a network of underground aquaducts, slave tunnels, and Tombs, all carved out of solid rock in the distant past.

The Gang went underground, turn the Catacombs into their own personal blayground, made it a living hell to enter for anyone wishing to take it from them. They never officially joined the 6th, but the do take orders from Manx, for whatever reason. Since the creation of the Alliance Military Council they have become an Auxilary Unit, mostly meant to patrol the Catacombs, as well as give support to the local City Guard.

The Munchkins…jeez these guys are just weird. Ok they are Cutebolds. I know what you’re thinking, ‘Cutebolds are cowards, they don’t fight.”

Trust me, they might have a overactive flight response, but that doesn’t mean they can’t fight. After all, you don’t need to be brave to set up a system of traps that would give a DM nightmares. And these guys love their explosives, and have been working with the newly made Initiative to make better explosives, and I think one of those SmartHats told them about remote controlled drones cause they keep asking about them too.

Well that’s about everything right now, I’ll keep you informed if any-

I just saw a flaming red giant walk down the street. I think I’m going mad.

I should be in the south. Our Regiment should be down there, we're the dragon slayers, veterans of the battle of the bridge and second battle of the Gates. We should be there fighting the fucking monsters that crawl in that goddamned jungle.

But I'm not, I'm here. The Crowd is roaring and my manager is yelling at me over them. We're in what used to be an old Builder Manor the main floor cleared and a ring built out of nightmare wood and River silk ropes. They glow as the torches all around us sputter. I'm defending my title for the night. But I'd rather be south.

The bell rings and I'm on my feet, my opponent is young, another lightweight like me and faster if just a little bit. We dance and weave and then it really gets going. I'm a counter-hitter so I let him start swinging and get a feel for things. And when he's working a nice little pace out.

I strike.

Three rounds in and I know where we stand. He's small, compact and I'm all limbs. Keeps trying to get in and fight like its on his watch. I know better, I use my right to hold him down, Love being a southpaw in a boxing match. I lead him by the nose, get him working on my pace now and his footing slackening up as I begin dropping lefts into his side. Quick light jabs and hooks to make sure he keeps on his toes. He takes a mean right at me and I step in and give him what he wants.

I spent a lot of time working a shield wall. My lefts are vicious and quick, like I've got a sword in hand. I can see he feels them. Hear the meat thudding and the bell rings. We move back to our corners and I know the match is mine. I come out of the corner swinging hard and have it over even as he goes for the clinch.

Title defended, and I keep thinking how I need to get sent south.

>meanwhile, not far from New Babel

I approached the south coast late into the autumnal season. The rains were especially light here compared to my homeland, petering off earlier than I was used to. The slight drop in temperature and dryness was a welcome relief though, and there was a steady breeze flicking between north-south and west-east. As I lay awake of a night, I fancied I could almost smell the delicious alien fish cocktails roasted up along the west coasts which I would visit twice a month, but I knew I was a long way from home and would not be returning any time soon.
>>
>>29987814
My first hint that I was reaching my destination was that the landscape steadily changed from the stratified browney orange sandstone formations (blasted smooth by a combination of wind and dust) that characterised the central southern region to the black emptiness of the slate flatlands along the eastern edge of Lenore. Of course, I wouldn’t know that much about the geology until many years later but it’s nice to interject with a little hindsight now and then. The flora changed relatively little, but the fauna changed so suddenly that my diet (and desire to stay safe from predators) both suffered for a while.
>>
>>29987824
With the slightly more forgiving environment, trees and shrub formations were more common here and it was in one of these thick clusters of vegetation that I learnt the hard way about the animal life along the southern coastal region. I had decided to poke around to look for water (and possibly some form of edible animal or plant life) and fought my way towards the centre of the thicket. There was a slight hollow shielded by a flat boulder, and I was about to drop down to investigate the base when a lifetime (three years) of finely honed Lenorean survival instincts (running away or climbing trees) warned me something was amiss. The wind was rustling in the branches and I could almost hear a faint trickle that told me there was a spring nearby, and I almost didn’t hear an unusually loud rustling in the branches above me until my survival instincts grabbed me and threw me sideways into a patch of vicious thorns (thanks, guys). A rubbery thud sounded to my right and I looked back to where I had been standing on top of the boulder to see a small, rotund mammal crawling towards the lip of the hollow. It had beady eyes and viciously long teeth for its size, and I could hear the faint hissing of its breath as it began casting around looking for something. It almost looked like an Australian wombat but with bigger ears. With a thrill, I realised it must have launched itself off the tree above aiming to land on my head and shoulders for some nefarious purpose (remembering the ridiculous muscle strength of the wombats proportional to their body size, this purpose no doubt involving teeth and rending certain crucial bones or body parts).

Upon sighting my (suddenly) thrashing predicament in the thorn bush, it methodically began picking it’s way over the ground towards me working its jaw slightly in anticipation of (I envisioned) exactly the same thing I came into its home looking for: a snack! With a burst of adrenaline brought on by terror (isn’t it always the slowest things that look the most threatening?) I managed to extract myself and (most) of my clothes from the bush and made a beeline back the way I came.

This wasn’t the only interesting (in the Chinese sense of the word) encounter that I had before reconnecting with civilisation. A day later and having learnt my lesson, I was camped a comfortable two minutes away from the nearest thicket of trees (as it transpired they were one of the only reliable water sources nearby). I had lit a small fire and just made myself as comfortable as possible on a bed of hard, flat rock when I heard a great thumping reverberate through the ground. It seemed to come from everywhere at once, and steadily got louder. Abandoning my comfortable setting, I grabbed my bag and started sprinting for the three thicket thinking to lose my aggressor (or herd of aggressors?) by climbing a tree, their deadly carnivorous inhabitants notwithstanding. Just as it seemed the thudding was right on top of me (and I swear the toplayer of dirt and pebbles was starting to jump up and down with every step) the noise suddenly died. I stopped to take a breather and have a quick glance behind me to see if it the whatever-it-was was still following (the mistake they all make in horror movies, I know).

For possibly the first time in my stay on Lenore, I was pleasantly surprised to make out a massive, six legged figure in the twilight (as it had stopped to investigate my campfire, and seemed quite interested in what it found leaving me hopefully forgotten). The creature must have easily been twice as long as I was tall, and enormously fat with a set of three huge, wickedly sharp looking horns coming out of its head. It seemed to be sniffing the air and poking around the fire slowly, so I settled down to see what it would do. What came next surprised me, as it suddenly reared up and started stamping down on my little campfire, crushing the coals under its horned feet and dashing the cinders all around the hard ground until there was nothing left but smoke and ash. Job apparently done to satisfaction, it rumbled to itself and started plodding off slowly in the direction it had came. Stupefied, I settled down for a bemused nap where I was before heading off before light the next morning.

Apart from the aforementioned incidents, my journey from the giant trees of Erstone in /an/ was a fairly smooth few weeks. My first view of the ocean was almost identical to my first visit to /ck/ near my homeland, I crested a small rise and saw it crashing in the distance with the smoke of settlement coming up from people preparing food nearby. Unlike home on Earth Lenorean oceans I had seen thus far were a lovely ochre orange fading to dark purple the deeper the water got, which was all things considered an improvement on coal grey or pea green. I had arrived in a small bight intersecting /i/ and /f/, which were mostly unremarkable except that the former was currently in the thick of a large war which enveloped most of the southern coastal region. I decided to travel south along the coast towards a major population centre I had heard alternately described of as “the Fabled City” and the “Rotten Jewel” of the south. Along the way I picked up more rumour and story than I can recount here about the ongoing war and the fascinating politics that had begun to evolve.

Early on in Lenorean history, /a/ had quickly established itself as a new Empire of the Rising Sun adopting Japanese custom as law. In particular they adopted the mannerisms of the feudal Samurai era, wearing clothing styled on traditional dress and adopting a bastardised form of Japanese-English which was a mix of both languages (but with as little of the latter as possible, leading to the logical conclusion of an a upper class consisting of those who spoke better Japanese and a lower class consisting of those less familiar with Japanese customs). This culture was aggressively spread at the point of a sword or gun, and as /a/ proved to be one of the most populous boards on Lenore many nearby settlements and whole boards had been swayed to join, those that didn’t being aggressively subjugated. Venerating a single emperor in /a/, there were four main “clans” led by a daimyo, each consisting of the four boards that had willingly joined the Empire - /a/, /i/, /w/, and /c/. Over the past three years, many boards had crumbled before their assault and now the Empire could lay claim to the boards of /ic/, /p/, /f/, /hr/ and /wg/.

Just to remind you about how I fleshed New Babel, it's located on an archipelago where all the islands are linked by builder bridges. The peninsula itself is supposed to be virtually empty, but you can of course disagree.
>>
>>29989863
I was going to write the whole peninsula as a giant ruined city
>>
>>29990078
The peninsula itself is rather empty, the archipelago is a massive city. Still, /int/ is a rather small board.
>>
>>29990292
keep in mind the city wasnt built by /int/ but by builder civilization before them, so it could well be there just /int/ populated the archipeligo because thats where they dropped and its easier to survive off of the bounties of the sea rather than the shrubs and weeds ina city

so does the sun set to the south? because that would be perfect to make /a/ the land of the rising sun again
>>
>>29991539
I think it's always set in the east, but remember that most of the south coast actually runs north <> south

Although I was passing through Imperial held /f/ right now, they were none too keen to support their subjugators and had only reluctantly submitted to treaty as a vassal state, providing token material support and volunteers in return for relative autonomy. As a result, I was readily able to obtain a rather more frank image of the Empire including several less than flattering accounts of their history from a man in a tavern (from which I will save the morally responsible reader here). Suffice to say, /a/ being the third most populous board (and with the other two far to the north) had a lot of tension on their borders. Not much is known of their early years, but it is known that they rebuilt more and more of the old world while shutting out the rest of the new one. Like anyone would do in this new world, they were creating in it the image of their ideal one by adopting the culture and mannerisms of old Earth Japan in the feudal ages – the age of samurai.

By the end of the second year, things were clearly getting bad behind their walled cities. Refugees would flee to surrounding boards telling tales of cramped living conditions, horrific atrocities and repeated bloody wars. No-one knows what sparked it off, but one day the walls came down and there was a huge exodus along the coast. Part exodus, part invasion. /i/ /w/ and /c/ already had a similar culture evolving, and would integrate into /a/’s developing cultural hegemony relatively smoothly over the next few years. /hr/ and /ic/, due to their proximity, were almost wholly subjugated by the newly developing Empire with much of their old identity being forcibly erased. It was then that the clans started appearing, and began fighting amongst themselves having already settled down to a slow expansion into “foreign” lands. To this /f/lashman, the names of the invaders and what they did to each other didn’t mean much but I felt there was more to the story here that I was missing – it sounded like they did the idea of an Empire nothing more than lip service. I would have to journey further west into the heart of Imperial territory to learn the true history. With the name of the local clan, Miyazaki, and its daimyo (ruler) Hayao Miyazaki (what I can only assume is an assumed name) on my lips, I set out for their castle further down the coast to beg an audience.
