In order to allow new players into the quest, feel free to ask questions if there’s anything confusing, myself and the other players will gladly help you out. But it always helps to skim the past few threads.

NOTE: This takes place right at the start of the Rachni Wars, which are about to ignite.
*/

You are Vayle, a young Ardat Yakshi under the employment of Omega’s ruler, ‘The Boss’. After training with Boss for the first time, you were handed your first assignment: Kill ‘Gil’, leader of a small upstart merc group that refuses to pay his taxes to Afterlife. After meeting a hyperactive salarian who observed you fight in hand-to-hand combat with a batarian, you faced Gil himself. Instead of taking the initiative and striking first, you opted to seduce him, in return you received a fist to the face.

"With the salarian watching us? I'll admit, I didn't think you were so brave..." You attempt to saunter over to him seductively, and lean over to place a hand on his cheek... That is, of course, before he decks you flat-out in the face, causing you to see stars as you stumble back, a small stream of blood coming out of your nose. The Salarian giggles behind you.

"Nice try sweetheart, you may have the good-looks of a salarian but I'm no sucker for a trick, now fight girl!"

The two of you spar, slowly you're beaten back into a corner, he knocks you to the floor with a punch to the throat. Sputtering and coughing, you surrender to Gil, "You;re nothing special, but decent enough." he mutters as he leaves the dueling arena, following him with your eyes, you realize the Salarian with the clip-board give him a dark glare as Gil passes by.

(cont.)
>>
"Now this, Asari, let's get you fitted for your uniform, you were accepted, though I had hoped you would teach Gil a lesson, was sadly disappointed."

He leads you back into the office, where in he takes numerous measurements with his omnitool,

"So, tell me about yourself, my name is Laedon, salarian that was offered a good deal of money for providing technical support to the upstart, yourself?"

>"Just lookin’ for an easy way to get creds, money is tight these days, debts and all."
>"An asari like me craves adventure, travel, a little bit of danger. It;s almost biologic really, the need for excitement."
>"I'm here to take over, just like how you call him the upstart, I call him the fool. He makes a mockery of us mercs, and I know we can handle him. Work with me, we can rule this squad."

Sup, OP.

Let's go with...number three, but more subtly. More of..."He's cocky, full of himself...it won't be long till he bites off more than he can chew." Look to the Salarian, sly grin, "You know...we could probably do a better job than him."

We're an Ardat-Yakshi. Our job is to fuck the bastard and cremate his nervous system in the process.
>>
>>29880620
We just need to fake it well enough that they don't catch on.
>>
>>29880645
This translates into the ability to take over a mercenary squad... how?

AY have the standard asari fuckme aura, and it probably gets more powerful with repeated feeding (thus Morinth's mind control). We're probably decent at seduction. But running a merc gang requires administrative skills, an understanding of logistics, good leadership, etc, that a PhD in exobiology doesn't provide.

>>29880668
How the fuck are we supposed to fake it? We don't know the first thing about running a merc crew.
>>
>>29880709
Easy. We have to kill the leader anyways. If we set up this other Salarian to take over once we do the deed, with the caveat that they work for our boss...it'll have to be handled delicately, but can be done.
>>
>>29880755
That's completely different from us taking over the crew, though.

Actually seems like a good plan, though.
>>
"Just lookin’ for an easy way to get creds, money is tight these days, debts and all, " You check a small mirror on the wall, wiping the blood away from your nose, “To be honest this rat-hole of a station is filled with opportunities for money, assuming you’re willing to get your hands dirty.” You grin at the Salarian, the two of you share a comradery that only two mercs could share.

“You know, Asari, are goals are the same, and if your skills are as good as they were against the batarian we tested you against, and you don’t give us repeat of fight with Gil,” he coughs to emphasize his point, “You could be a great asset for corporation, strong fighter, fast mover, stick around, we can use your abilities.” With that, he leaves the room, behind him on the table is a green uniform, presumably in your size. Quickly changing into the uniform, you hear a knock on the door, and the sliding sound as it opens. Gil is standing there, arrogant smirk still present on his amphibian face.

“So Blue, how’s the nose? Took quite a hit from the good ole’ Gil fist.” He flexes and laughs, it’s hard to resist hitting him, but you realize you’re alone with him finally, so you could potentially seduce, or you could just play out the act some more.

>>

Then he goes, "thanks but no thanks."

He has no reason to believe that we're an Ardat-Yakshi, since he almost certainly doesn't even know what that is. Trying to get in his pants, at worst, makes us look like someone who social climbs by using sex.

Gil came to us, not the other way around, which means it's about as good an opportunity as any.

"Aww, you are so kind to think of me...keep up the thoughtfulness, big boy, and maybe we'll see just how much of a 'trick' it really was... I've got more than just that up my sleeve." You surprise even yourself at how seductive the voice sounded, Gil is visibly flushed underneath his eyes, and he seems to subconsciously step forward to you. For all his previous bravado, he is speechless, bordering on stuttering. Placing your hand on his shoulder, and you feel that familiar tug in your stomach, except this time, you don't resist.

Your eyes flood with black, and a rush unlike any other courses through your mind and body. It persists for several seconds, until your vision clears, in front of you, a dead Salarian, inside you? His power.

You glance around the room, and to your shock, the salarian doctor from earlier sees you standing over the fallen corpse of Gil, luckily you now he didn't see the murder in progress. His eyes grow large, and he runs towards the main-area of the residential area, presumably calling for help.

You need to get out, now.

Jumping Over Gil's corpse, you rush through the door and into the long hallway the connects the office to the dueling arena, the salarian is quite obviously not the best runner, as you are right on his lab-coat-tails. You jump forward to tackle him, he pulls his gun, and you react by activating your omniblade and severing his head from his body, the large-eyes of the severed salarian stare at you, a strange cloudiness filling his eyes. Deactivating the blade, you make a run for it, out through the atrium of the residence, and pushing past the two door-guards from earlier. The two simply shrug it off as another novice fleeing for his life, the one of the right makes a half-hearted pot shot at your feet, missing by several yards.

Quickly you press Boss' code into your omni-tool to report your success. The frog face fills the air above the device, " She-demon! Just who I wanted to hear from, how'd it go?" He looked like a child waiting to receive a gift, if such a monstrous creature could display happiness without looking like a raging beast. You detail the account of the mission quickly, wanting to get your payment. true to his word, You receive an alert that your balance has increased by 3000 credits. Bringing you to a total of 5000 credits. "We'll keep in touch." He says before signing off.

> Nano-Fiber Suit I - Not providing the greatest of protection, this extremely light-weight armor will definitely lessen the harm of projectiles or other forms of harm. 2000 creds.

>Titanium-bi link I - Similar to ancient Asari armor made of interlocking rings, the technology has been modernized with new manufacturing techniques, the rings are too small to discern by the naked eye, and can prevent most small-arm fire, and even stronger forms of weaponry, mobility is largely reduced due to the clashing of the rings. (2500)

Battle-Tech I - Thick armor designed for those in the heat of combat, tungsten alloys make up the thick-plates of the armor, covered by thin sheets of nano-fiber. Not many weapons can penetrate this armor from long-range. Extremely limited mobility(4000)

Searching through the kiosk further, you discover the 'club life' category, unsurprising due to the avid club-lives many lead at Afterlife. Among the revealing clothes, you run across an Asari Tailored dance outfit, popular among many of your friends back on Thessia. The shop-keeper leans over the counter, "You know, we barely ever have Asari come through here, and you seem to be eyeballing that dress. Since you already bought 2500 creds worth of stuff, I'll be the nice guy and let you have it."

Thanking whatever forces may be for the benevolent sales' men, and head back out towards Mel's apartment, the weighty bags making you feel gleeful.

You activate the door, and return to your ever more comfortable couch, Mel should be back soon, seeing as it's towards the end of the day.

The surge of energy you felt from your two feedings has left you craving the buzz of biotic power inundating your senses. Sitting down on a soft mat near the holoscreen, you cross your legs, lay your palms on your lap, shut your eyes, and attempt to access those hidden vestiges of power. For several long, frustrating moments, you simply feel a slight pang of the Hunger. But then, you feel as if you breached some invisible wall in your mind, and your body attains a slight blue biotic glow. Concentrating the energy into your hand, primarily by instinct, a small orb flys from your hand, and strikes a small book by the holo, the blue glow surrounds it, and flys towards you, hitting you in the chest with a bit of force.

[You have unlocked the biotic ability PULL, at level 1 of this move, you are effectively able to pull object and persons towards you that weigh a maximum of 100 lbs. Anything heavier has a chance of working, but may also just fail.]

Cheery at your discovery, you your newfound power to pull the small remote to the holo to you hand, as you get up and start to prepare a dinner. Switching onto ONN, Omega News Network, a Salarian reporter seems to be announcing a segment called 'The Daily Obituary', morbid, but not a very unexpected surprise on Omega's primary source of news.

Cooking food for yourself, and another batch for Mel due to the conflict between your Amino Acids, you continue to watch until a familiar face appears on the screen.

"Recent Mercenany super-star... Right... 'Gil' has been reported dead as of 14:00 Standard Galactic time, the Salarian was thrust into the limelight after a supposed hostile takeover of a small residential district. Shortly after a public decree claiming to reject Omega's authorities, the Salarian suffered from massive brain hemorrhaging. His second in command is also MIA, and the mercenaries have split from the scene." (cont.)
>>
It concerns you that they directly referenced the cause of death, any Justicar on your tail would know what it meant, but as the news-reporter said, he was of little reknown, and more than likely would never be reported on again. Though you make a note to yourself to take more caution with 'disposal' next time.

"Meanwhile, Omega's refineries have suffered massive setbacks today. Managers overseeing the operation in sector Z12 claim that a malfunction in administrative commands has caused a direct failure in the drill's progress, foul play has yet to be ruled out."

Your skin goes pale, you are almost certain that Mel works in the area, as she did mention multiple times that she was an engineer on the drill operating the mines.

At possibly the worst timing in your known life, Boss appears on your Omni-tool, "She-demon, get down to the mines NOW. Some bastard has screwed with my operation, and as my servant, you're gonna take care of 'em. Ardat Yakshi deaths are rumored to be some of the most painful experiences known to the asari, and you will make them suffer...

Tell him these kills need to be metted out carefully, or a Justicar is bound to take notice. It's not a refusal, just letting him know that one of the deadliest Asari warriors ever to live might personally rip him and most of Omega to shreds if he isn't careful about his targets.

Beyond that, tell us about the mines and about our target in particular. Name, species, combat proficiencies, sexual preferences..

Let's also get a map of the mines and look over it for any sneaky access points.
>>
>>29884926
What's the krogan life span like?
>>
>>29884991
Could we mind rape someone then put a bullet through the brain to hide our trail?
>>
>>29885038
Sounds...viable, though I'd prefer just focusing a biotic push on the inside of the skull to turn the whole brain to mush.
>>
>>29884926
>Ardat Yakshi deaths are rumored to be some of the most painful experiences known to the asari, and you will make them suffer...
That's actually the opposite of true boss, but whatever you say.
>>
>>29885038
If we don't have the strength or skill to smash their skull in yet, we could always just chop it off and take it with us for disposal later.
>>
>>29885005
Pretty much the same as Asari, but we wouldn't know that, seeing as he's the first Krogan we've even heard of.

>>29884991
The Dossier is aggravatingly empty, albeit the location of the sabotage is nicely detailed. The layout of the mines are relatively simple, a spiderweb of catwalks and bridges surrounding the drill, with the command center built into the side of the mined out wall. It's accessible from several walk-ways, and the life-support venting connecting to an adjacent wetware mainframe room.

As for entrances into the mines, there are numerous entrances from all over, but nothing in particular that is sneaky, just avoid the main entrance and all is well.
>>
>>29885005
if i remember right its pretty close to asari lifespans
>>
>>29885094
Boss operates off of rumors, and even then, I doubt immense brain hemorrhaging is pretty painful.
>>
>>29885005
I'm pretty sure it was a few hundred years. Not exactly to the 1000 Asari get, but a fair bit closer than most.
>>
>>29885282
isn't*
>>
>>29885254
Well then, let's put on our armor, head down there. Be sneaky, of course...

If we find the boss, get him alone, say, "I represent some...interested parties. I'd hope you would be willing to...accept a modest reward, for what you've done here." Unzipping our front as this is said, of course. Then Kiss, fried, all is well.
>>

I thought krogans were biologically immortal?

>>29885282
Morinth said it feels real good. She wouldn't lie, would she?
>>
>>29885282
well short of directly stimulating the pain center the brain cant feel anything. the rest of the nervous system being burnt out however.....
>>
>>29885337
She also tells Shpeard he/she's strong enough to survive the process.
Which kills you if you romance her.
>>
Everyone ready to move on?

>>
>>29885389

>>
>>29885389
Yup.

Donning your new equipment, you holster your pistol in an anchored point of the suit. Taking one last glance at the dossier you take off, a cab waiting for you near Afterlife drops you off on a scafolded area above the mines. The map shows several possible routes. The life-support entrances are several yards away, definitely the snealthiest way to get through, an entrance to the catwalks which provides a medium level of stealth and speed, and a main pathway running the length of the drill that will be the fastest, but most exposed. All end in the Control room. Though each poses it's difficulties and benefits.

Swinging your legs over the entrance to a maintenance shaft in the life-support systems. The hum and whirs of fans and machinery echo throughout the tunnel, not quite deafening, bu loud enough to mask noise. In order to reach the control room, you will have to find a way to cross the gap in-between the maintenance shafts of the mines and the those of the control room.

Your first option is to take a leap of faith across a somewhat large gap in order to land on the latter catwalk, the second is to either time a jump across one of the slow-moving fans the bridges across the two, or potentially stopping it with biotics.

"One!" You yell to yourself as you make the jump, clearing the fan blades perfectly. The lights were dimmer in this area of the life-support system, making it harder to watch your step, but nothing you can't handle.

The walk-way is fairly linear, several paths branching off into dark rooms with hardware spilling out in the form of wires and tubes. As you move farther down the tunnel, you notice movement, the glare of armored ceramics glinting from the figure, his back is towards you, and facing one of the side-paths, moving around some of the connections. This could potentially be your perp, or someone associated with the suspect.

Had me worried there, success.

Crouching slightly, you walk towards the pre-occupied figure, and observe his actions before lunging. He seems to be rewiring several of the conduits leading to a wetware mainframe in the side-room. What this will accomplish, you are unsure, but regardless, he could know the perpetrator. Sliding your arms under the person's under arms and placing him in a headlock, a muffled yell comes form under the mask, the accent a tone very clearly a Quarian male. "Hel-" The Quarian begins to scream before you slam his head into the wall, hissing at him to be quiet. Using some of the spare tubing on the floor, you bind his hands, and begin to question him.

What do you ask?
>>
>>29886631
There was a sabotage down here earlier. What happened?
>>
>>29886631
Who are you, what were you doing, do you know anything about the drill failing.

If he doesn't answer, threaten him with the omniblade
>>

This.
>>
>>29886678
>>29886660
"There was a sabotage down here earlier, who are you, what were you doing, and do you know anything about the drill failing?" You drill him, ripping th mask off of his face to judge his facial expression.

You're shocked to see a sneer of defiance.

"Wouldn't you like to know, Asari Bitch." he spits towards you, landing near you. Promptly, as any classy Asari should, you activate your omni blade, and hold the tip of the blade right from the exposed flesh of his neck.

"Now, you get one more chance to answer, choose your words wisely."

He sputters at the sight, you have to hold back a laugh at the look of a Quarian who probably pissed himself, he sputters "I was paid! I was paid! She told me not to speak if I got caught! She said she'd pay me more!"

You shake him, "Who, who paid you!" the Quarian begins to cry, bio-luminescent tears tracking over his familial markings, he begins hyperventilating, and your doctorate in exo-biology actually comes in handy as you punch him in the Quarian equivalent of the solar-plexus, forcing him to take in deep breaths.

"I don't know, she was an Asari like you, she gave me the money at dead-drops, she was supposed to meet us in the control room!" The tears continue to flow, there isn't any information left you could get from him.

What to do now?
>Knock him out
>Attempt to feed
>Kill

>>29886878

>>
>>29886878
>Another Asari is coming.
Kill him, but with a broken neck or something similar. Then replace the faceplate, set him up so he's sitting down, apparently dozing, and hide. Wait and see who shows up.
>>
>>29886920
>Asari is coming
>"She;s meeting us in the control room!"
>>
>>29886878
WAIT

"Was supposed to? She didn't show, then?"
>>
>>29886878
Before we do anything, we need to find out more about the Asari. Mannerisms, anything. Do we have someone experienced here, who's drawing us into a trap.

We also need to help our roommate, if she's in trouble.
>>
>>29886878
>Attempt to feed
Afterwards, we need to make sure his head is nothing but a red smear on the ground.
>>
>>29886988
Nah, we should really only feed when The Boss tells us to, explicitly. Elsewise we'll start to become a monster.
>>
>>29886966
Same. "Where did you meet her, how much did she pay you, did she give a name or alias?"
>>
>>29887033
We kind of already are a monster as far as the Asari are concerned. Besides, it'll help us power up our biotics.
>>
>>29887067
And put us on the fast track to not being able to control it. No, we aren't doing this.
>>
>>29886948
I just love it when a player notices things like this!

"Was supposed to? She didn't show then?" you say, the omniblade hovering above his neck.

"Y-yeah! She never showed, this other Quarian came instead, and told us the Asari wanted us to continue our work, j-just making sure the drill continued to malfunction, not a complete melt-down, but enough to draw attention to the place. The Quarian chick left, and told us we'd get paid in the usual fashion, don't kill me! I have family back on Rannoch! Please!" He continues to bawl his eyes out. You slap him to get his attention, adopting a slight biotic glow to catch his attention.

"Where did you meet her, how much did she pay you, did she give a name or alias?" You continue to drill him,

"It was through a blocked message on my Omni-tool, military grade encryption on it, we were all paid in 10,000 creds, with 90,000 after we got out! That's enough to live a great life, I-I was gonna move to the citadel!"

>Anything further?
>>
>>29887128
"Who was the Quarian you met instead?"
>>
>>29887128
Who is the other Quarian? Did you recognize her? Did she have a suit? What color was it, or her hair. Height, apparent age, anything.
>>
>>29887128
I assume we're recording all of this on our omni-tool...
>>
>>29887128
After we finish interrogating him, we should get all his credits off him. As a side note, he's dead even if we don't kill him here.
He's a Quarian, and we just ripped off his mask.
>>
>>29887167
>>29887154
"Who is the other Quarian? Did you recognize her? Did she have a suit? What color was it, or her hair. Height, apparent age, anything."

"Man, I don;t know, when your mind is on money, and felony acts, you tend to ignore these kind of things! I'd say young, adult, it was a plain black suit, hair was hidden beneath a hood, didn't recognize her! Quarians are like vorcha on Omega, there's tons of us!"
>>
>>29887228
>Quarians aren't dealing with an immune deficiency yet
>>
>>29887228
This is pre-exile times for the Quarians, they don;t need to enviro-suits.
>>
>>29887241
"Alright then. And, for the record, what's your name? Your full name."
Record this if nothing else.
