Hello again, /tg/! I'm sorry about the past few weeks. Real Life hasn't been so accommodating.
The twitter: https://twitter.com/DigimonQuest

The archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Digimon%20Quest

The stat sheets are here: http://pastebin.com/u/DigimonQuest

The Storybook is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vIIWBQ-sHlw3PZ4D4yH9hiIl8YiqEVpy1ZUztKlSzzs

And the last interlude at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EREPh2kV6wB-xQk-7Cz8Sz26Hi_NB6iTvob5brS8WEE

Dice Rules: I take the best of the first three, and any crits within the first five. Critical twenties can be stored and expended as save points. Luck rolls can be made to increase (or decrease) chances of success (or failure) on another roll, a crucial decision, or to influence travel sequences.

LAST TIME ON DIGIMON QUEST:
You share a worried glance with Zoe, before motioning for the digimon to continue.

“Who-whoever brings them in gets some kind of reward- I dunno what, I was told it was good.”

“these…’creatures,’” Zoe asks, her eyes cold. “...were you supposed to bring them in alive, or dead?”

The digimon gulps audibly.

“Either was fine, but we thought dead would be less of a hassle.”

You and Zoe share another look.

This is most certainly not good.

Off in the distance, you can see the cloud of what you now know to be giant bugs getting nearer to the point where the green marker is. You think you can see some small flashes of fire every now and again, but it's too far to be sure.

You send Zoe a worried look, but she's staring into the distance with an expression you've never seen before. It worries you even more.

Digimon Quest!
Hooray!

...Gale, can we kill off these digimon before we go after them?
I don't like the idea of letting them leave and bring information about us back to the one who set this up.
>>
Sally has a way to quickly kill these things, doesn't she?
We might want to do that (what with them planning on killing us) and then immediately head off.
Would that take too long to do anything, though, Gale?

Oh man, yes, Digimon Quest.
Here's a Sally pic, to get us started.

Now I'm given to understanding we're not going to have a Quest tomorrow, correct?
>>
...Fire?
Sally's got a water trick, doesn't she?
She should be able to put out any fire... maybe even set it up so that she hits these guys as well?
>>
How're you doing today, Gale?

[x] Sally can do water to gently stop the fire, while Aslan goes in and drags whoever is there out.
-[x] We should probably prepare to at least stop these guys from escaping - anyone have any good idea for stopping them from running away? Otherwise, well, we need to be more final about it...
--[x] Make sure the other digimon understand that if they don't make it convincing that they won't run away, they'll be dead.
>>
>>29951276
Sally can do water - but we should also decide what to do with our captives.
If nothing else, we can't let them just run away.
They've confessed they were planning on killing us, and I'm not in the mood for letting them get away.
>>
>>29951406
That is, unfortunately, true.

>>29951243
I'm doing rather well. decided to give Macross as a whole a try. Rather pleased with the decision.
JETS. IN. SPACE.

So so far, it seems like we're tied between asking the others and putting the digimon you've got prisoner down, with another vote for charging in.

>>29951425
it is highly doubtful Sally could hit that far away.
>>
>>29951425
>>29951529
Guys the fire is obviously attacks aimed at the bugs.
>>
>>29951563
How about we ask the others, while bringing up our suggestion of putting them down?
Or at least stopping them from escaping with news about us?

I mean, the digimon are already very weak, after having been pinned down, right?
It should be quick to finish them off and then rush off to help.
>>
Do digimon get stronger from putting other digimon down?
Because that might be what Sally and Aslan are missing, for getting to their next level.

>>29951585
...Ah, right.
Think you're right.

This was answered before: Devouring the data of another digimon prevents them from re-entering the reincarnation cycle until the digimon that devourered the others is removed themselves. However, should a digimon who has devoured others die in a dead zone, it's game over for them all.

Killing outside of a deadzone will result in only the smallest increase in data, but it ensures the digimon destroyed won't be removed from the cycle.

Digimon who are killed and cycled back in quickly retain their memories of their last life, and digimon who have been eaten retain memories of the events that happened after their "demise," as well.

>>29952329
And there was much rejoicing. and Hnnng.

Speaking of that chart, I found a digi that was appropriate to add to it.
http://digimon.wikia.com/wiki/BeelStarrmon

It's basically "LadyBeelzamon", but it has no digi-evo. It does fit thematically. Still up for Lady Devi and Lilith though.

I found some more "robot beetles" that fit for Kokumamon but >>29951998 yeah, odds are you've got it.

This decision needs to be made quickly, but you just don’t know what to do. Someone’s in trouble out there, and there’s a bunch of these...things after them. You check to see what your companions might be thinking- Sally’s glaring at the roach-digimon, but you think that’s more because it almost hurt you and the others, while Zoe and Aslan are both staring out over the plains at the slowly thickening cloud of flying digimon.

“What do you think?” You ask, voice low. Sally sends the roach one last glare, before turning to face you, her expression serious. Zoe’s own expression is dark, with several emotions mixing about plainly on her face.
“We shouldn’t be standing around here talking,” Aslan speaks up, sending you a sideways glance. “Every minute we dawdle is another minute we’re missing the battle.” You notice he doesn’t say anything about the person the roaches are attacking. Zoe doesn’t react to her partner’s statement, barring a short, curt nod. She’s thinking now; you know the face she gets when she’s thinking.
“..We should help them,” She begins cautiously, “but charging in, against numbers like those, without a plan, is a bad idea.” She turns back to look at the digimon Sally defeated moments ago. “And what are we going to do about him?”

You shrug uncomfortably. “I...I don’t know. I considered letting him go, but he’d just go back to his friends. I don’t like it, but…” You glance down at the digimon, still a bit unsure. “It might be best to just get this over with and go.” Zoe pales slightly, but it seems she had thought of that, too. Sally, serene as ever, just gives you an encouraging smile, while Aslan grins to himself.
>>
>>29953230
The roach, however, looks horrified.

>[] We put him down, and then get down there. They need our help. (go into battle)

>[] write-in
>>
>>29953245

Let him go (maybe a "we spared you" sort of comment as you leave so hopefully he doesn't bear a grudge), then go help whoever is being attacked.

If it's friends you should help, if it's digimon, no point in THEM getting railed since you're wanted.
>>
>>29953245
Hm...
If the ones fighting the roaches are using fire, then Sally could help with that.
Just put wind there and you'll soon have a massive blast of flame.
If Aslan could trick them into runningso that Sally will have a perfect shot for getting a wind attack into a flame, aimed at them, it should win the fight.

Would this work, or would you want us to roll for planning, Gale?
If so, we should let Zoe handle THAT

...Finally, I vote we kill the roach.
>>
>>29953245

I think we should be able to manage that - Sally's got plenty of points put into her wind attack.
And she's done something like this before, I think?
Either way, I'd like to know if Gale would be ok with something like that.
>>
>>29953340
It's a plan, but you'll need to roll strategy (WISD) for it.

If you want to ask Zoe about it, you can.
>>
>>29953530
Sure, let's ask Zoe about the plan.

Can we get any bonus from a particularly good plan, Gale?
>>

>>
>>29953589

>>
>>29953728

You mean "how have I never jerked around and looked into the digimon wiki more.?"
>>
>>29953709
Sally's the opposite of a Wizardmon, which has fire and earth magic. So, aside from that one poison attack I'm still not sure is canon, Balaluna Gale and Aquary Pressure are all she has.

And it seems we're mostly in favor of ending the bug, with the secondary being getting to the battle across the board.

If there's no objections, I'll start writing.

“...he’s too dangerous to let go.” Zoe nods slowly, and you sigh, but before you can say anything else, Aslan’s already moving.

With a cry of “Critical Bite!” the small lion sinks his fangs into the insect digimon’s shell, a sharp flash emitting from where his jaw made contact, before the roach lets loose an agonized shriek. His flailing arms knock Zoe’s partner away, but it’s too late. The damage is done. Starting from the killing wound, the digimon begins to disintegrate, slowly flaking away until whole parts of his body are missing. His cries too begin to slowly fade away, though they’re no less horrifying as they do. The fact that he doesn’t stop screaming even in his very last moments only add to the extreme discomfort you feel at having condemned him.

Aslan merely stands beside Zoe once more, his attention turned to the cloud of roaches now. You can see the eagerness to fight in his eyes, and the thought of a repeat performance of what just happened unsettles you further.

However, there’s no time to dwell on it any longer. Whoever is near those rocks is in danger, and they need your help. You believe you’ve got a plan that could work, but you’re not sure. Zoe, however, just might.

After giving her the basics of your idea, she thinks to herself for a moment, before nodding slowly.
“I can’t see that being unsuccessful, even if it doesn’t work out as planned.”

>You can now either let Zoe roll for the success of the plan, or do it yourselves.
>If it’s Zoe, she will be rolling with a modifier of +2.

I may not have thought things through properly.
Either way, I'm gonna go with the now-15.

Zoe has a 15.
I'm sorry guys.

No reason to be sorry - it's all experimentation.
You just had us a little worried we were going to rush into a trap, is all.

I need to get more of this worked out ahead of time. It's not all that cool of me.

Now, then, to the writing.

If you'd like to do it - one way to increae tension could be to make individual rolls, just like us players do?

True.
Eh, it worked out well this time, let's just be thankful for Gale being kind.

>Success!

Zoe nods to herself again, before looking to your digimon partners.

“Aslan, I’m going to need you to go first. Attack some of them. Insult them. Get them angry at you. Draw as many as possible away.” She looks next to Sally, who’s all business now. The death of that Roach seems to have shaken her from her pleasant mood swing, which you’re somewhat grateful for. It astounds you how quickly Sally went from content to angry to mellow again.

“Sally, once enough of them are far enough away from where they’re gathered, would you mind using some of your magic on them?” Zoe asks politely, but you can tell she’s counting on Sally for this. For her part, though, Sally just smiles darkly and nods.

Aslan leaves first, disappearing in a blur of orange and tan, kicking up dust in his wake. He’s not cheetah fast, but he’s certainly quicker than you expected the little lion to be. Sally leaves soon after, but not before giving you a playful wave and a wink.

Now comes your part. You and Zoe have to get to whoever is under attack without the roaches finding you, now that you’re undefended. Hopefully, Aslan and Sally will do their jobs right.

You set off in the direction of the rocks, keeping an eye out for any bugs heading your way. In the distance, you see another flash of light as an orange blur leaps into the swarm, which quickly loses any semblance of organization as the bugs begin to frantically move to avoid the young lion digimon’s attacks. You’re glad you’re far away, actually; you doubt you’d want to hear what’s going on right now.

>This is gonna be a multi-part update.

As you get closer to the rock, you notice that the bugs have almost completely abandoned their original objective to go after aslan, with only the occasional roach dive bombing their target, only to be repelled by the small bursts of fire.

Once you actually arrive at the stone outcropping, you’re surprised to see a young man around your own age, with wavy blonde hair and a large coat, and...is that Daniil’s partner?

You haven’t seen a digimon like him since, so you assume it is. The boy motions for you to stay quiet, and you nod. He points at you, his look questioning. You pull out your digivice, and his eyes widen. Then, he grins, and pulls out one of his own; green with a coppery-gold tint to it. The digimon beside him does recognize you, but keeps its attention on the skies.

Then, in the direction the storm went, you hear a loud cry, and then all noise is drowned out as a full-on tornado springs into being in the distance, catching at least a fourth of the bugs in it before dying down.

--

You are Zoe, and right now, something’s happening. You’d only just found the person who you and Wayne had agreed to rescue, when your digivice began to react to something. You don’t know what’s going on, but the device has begun to heat up, feeling as though it’s about to burn a hole through your pocket. Pulling it out, you almost wince at the heat, but open it up anyway. The twin screens are flashing a multitude of different symbols now, and you know something’s going on.

The last time it acted like this-

You look up in surprise, as in the distance, a very loud, and very triumphant sounding yell resounds.

You are Aslan, and you couldn’t be happier. There’s prey everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

You can lash out with a claw and take one of these overgrown bugs down easily. You can simply extend your neck and bite, and your fangs will find purchase. You’ve been at this for only a few minutes, and already you’ve absorbed the datamass of at least twelve other digimon. Oh, zoe might not be pleased with the consequences of that, but it’s for her sake you’re doing this, anyway. Zoe doesn’t need someone else’s weakness holding her back; she needs your strength. And grow strong you have. Already, you’re feeling stronger and faster, sturdier and more agile. This was what you were missing. A battle. Not a fight, but an all-out war for your own survival. You can’t get stronger just thinking about it; how could you have been so naive? No, now you know the truth. Now you know how you can protect your partner.

One of the roaches- Gokimon, you believe- tries to throw a punch at you, but a duck to the side and a bite later, and he’s disintegrating from his arm up. His screams hurt your ears, but his pain doesn’t bother you. Through the mass of wings and shells and misshapen mouths, you can see Sally almost lazily rending Gokimon who dare to get too close limb from limb. She’s strong. Very strong. But you’re going to be stronger. She doesn’t have to protect her partner like you do.

Another Gokimon almost lands a hit, and you entertain the notion of leading your part of the swarm to Sally to take care of, but dismiss the idea almost instantly. She’s not even absorbing the data of these bugs like you are. It’d be a huge waste. You shred another of the bugs for trying to fly at you, and then…

You feel it. The pulse flooding through your body. The fire within your core spreading into every one of your limbs. You know this feeling. A feral grin makes its way onto your lips.

With a primal roar, you let it out.

You are Wayne, and the cloud of bug digimon just exploded. And for once, you’re pretty sure Sally wasn’t behind it.

The multiple blasts of fire in the shape of Lion Heads biting and burning the bugs also sort of reinforces that.

You look to Zoe, who’s staring at her digivice. That only confirms it.

Aslan just digivolved.

[X] get in contact with Sally

We shouldn't be threatened now - Witchmon + Leomon should do very well.
You know what we're missing now?
Sally to become LadyDevimon, so she's always one step ahead...
>>
>>29957149
Well at least now he can't act all holier-than-thou over this.
>>
I... am not so sure we're getting leomon, here.
>>
So we found Niklas, that's great!
And at least 2 champion digimon can now go along and help him.
>>
>>29957118
Thanks for this, Gale.
Anyway, I'm heading off.
Has thread been saved on suptg?
>>
>>29957237
Me neither. Or we might get Leomon, but go down a not-so-holy path from here on.

>>29957118
Sally seems to be alright and the other guy is safe now. Let's start by asking Zoe and looking at Aslan's digivolution.
>>
>>29957348
The whole "I don't give a damn about your pain" certainly doesn't LOOK holy...
>>
>>29957348
What sort of evolution path could Aslan go down now?
It's looking like he'll become BanchoLeomon, judging by how much he enjoys fighting.
>>
>>29957426
hey, as long he doesnt become madleomon im mostly cool
>>
So are all bugs killed off?
Because if so, we might want everyone to join together and start moving...
>>
>>29957481
...Oh fuck.
Oh nonono.
Let's, yeah, let's just stop this from happening.

not yet it hasn't. If someone else don't, I will.

Seems like we're going for getting Niklas out of here.
Alright, then.

Couldn't we do several things at once?

>[x] get the kid out of here

You grab the other Chosen’s arm, helping him to his feet.
“C’mon, our partners have got this.” And you can say that with surety, too. Sally’s powerful, and now that Aslan’s hit the next level, you’re fairly certain those bugs don’t stand a chance. The other boy nods almost emphatically, and the four of you make your way back to where you left your gear, back where you were attacked by the first cockroach.
Once there, you turn your attention back to the ongoing battle, and notice just how many of the bugs seem to be dying now. There’s an almost machine-gun like barrage of flaming blasts originating from one point, and each blast is hitting one of the bugs. You’re not sure, but you think you can hear the same word being yelled with each punch. Sally, too, doesn’t seem to be having any trouble at all, her elemental attacks dowsing and slicing bugs all around, matched only by her claws.

Zoe’s still staring at he digivice, the blue and silver machine now showing a small portrait of her partner. Taking a closer look, you can see that he’s still a lion, though he now appears much rougher, sporting scars that weren’t there before. It also appears that he’s standing on two legs, much like a human. And like a human, he’s wearing clothes. Well, pants.

Is that what happens when a digimon reaches the next level? They get clothing?

Digimon are strange.

But now, it seems, your fellow Chosen has recovered from the sprint enough to speak, because he holds out his hand to you and Zoe.

“T-thank you very much.” He says, still panting slightly. “I...I’m Niklas. Niklas Bylund.” He looks between the two of you. “And would I be correct in...assuming you’re the two my friend Daniil told me about?”

You and Zoe both nod and introduce yourselves, before you…
