Six years ago, every adult man and woman on the planet fell peacefully asleep, and could not be woken by any means. You called it the Bliss, for when they succumbed to sleep, they were always content.

It was the first blow of a terrible war.

Society broke down soon afterwards. You, the still-waking children of the world, banded together; some attempting to rebuild the world of their mothers and fathers, others doing as they pleased. Killing, creating, looting, repairing, and always knowing that the Bliss awaited you when you reached adulthood. You lived your lives even so.

Four years ago, the aliens attacked with their engines – invincible titans of steel and glass, drones of air and fire, things not of these dimensions. In wakefulness, they carved wreaths of destruction through your dying cities. In sleep, they invaded your dreams, tearing your frail young minds asunder. They attacked with means beyond human understanding, with weapons beyond human cruelty.

One year ago, a small team organized by one of the last surviving adults won your first small victory. They retrieved an alien machine. They called it the creche. All they knew of it was this: with it, you could fight.

Now, you are at the brink of extinction. Armed with a power you cannot comprehend, a technology you can barely operate, you will strike back.

This is how.

Of the various teams across the country building ANIMA prototypes, yours was the first to succeed. Your group numbered five in total. Noble Jurick, yourself. Serena Foster, your anchor. Su Holt, secondary pilot. Nicky Friedman, Su’s anchor and engineer of the ANIMA system. And of course, the Old Man.

“Enemy drones are en route to our position. We have fifteen minutes. Mr. Jurick, I suggest we retreat. Returning to your ANIMA so soon after your previous excursion may have certain side-effects.”

“Like hell we’re running away now!” Su says. “Noble’s taken down at least six of the things, and I haven’t even fought one yet!”

“Perhaps you feel fit to full dive, Ms. Holt, but what of Ms. Friedman and Ms. Foster? As Pilots, I realize you are not unaware of the strain that an Anchor bears, but the level of exhaustion they sustain is comparable to that of your own or greater.”

Su grits her teeth. “You bastard, you don’t have any right to say that after-“

“Su, enough.”

“Mr. Jurick. We need to make a decision.”

You look at Serena and Nicky. “Serena, how are you feeling?”

“The Old Man’s right,” she says. “I can try, but…”

“Nicky, what about you?”

She nods. “I wasn’t in all that long, earlier. I can do it.”

“You were bleeding from your eyes when I woke up.”

She shakes her head. “I can do it.”

“Mr. Jurick, time is of the essence.”

What do you decide?

Link didn't copy correctly, looks like.

“We stay and fight,” you decide. “We run, they’re just going to come after us, and they won’t stop until they catch us or we reach a populated area.”

“Noble, let’s just lead them to Cincinnati, they-“

“You can’t be serious, Serena. Let them kill off hundreds of kids, just so the five of us can get away scot-free? I thought I knew you better than that.”

She looks down. “I… I didn’t…”

You take her hands in yours. “Come on. There’s no running from this. This is why we’re here. We fight these alien fucks wherever they appear. That’s our job. That’s our duty! If we don’t, we’re as good as dead, anyway.”

“But I don’t want to lose you, not because I couldn’t handle it!”

“Trust me. You can do it, I believe in you. Just you believe in me, alright?”

She bites her lip.

“Ms. Holt, the creche and cradle are ready.”

Su glares at the Old Man as Nicky tugs her into the trailer. The Old Man meets her stare for a second, before breaking away.

“Ms. Holt, I reg-“

“Yeah, yeah. I’m sure you do.” She vanishes inside, and the rest of you follow.

Steel forms your body, stone forms your skin, lightning crackles through your veins. Su’s ANIMA stands beside you, a black-cloaked thing with a face like death, wielding an ivory sword as tall as she was.

“So what did you name it?” You ask.

“Dunno what to call it. It didn’t look like anything I expected. I was hoping for one of those Gundam-looking things, a bit more like yours.” She flips her massive sword onto her shoulder. “Maybe… Durandal? That’s a sword, right? Hey, you named yours after a shield.”

You smile. “I won’t say anything about it. Heads up, here they come.”

Giants in the distance, of fire and stone, dragging tall maces behind them. At least ten of them.

You switch to Knuckle mode. Durandal charges forward, dragging her sword through the ground behind her. You follow, your ANIMA glinting silver and gold in the moonlight.

Durandal skids to a halt in front of the first giant, bringing sword up from behind her in a full diagonal slash, cutting through the thing’s knee. She twists her wrists, her blade gleams white, and it slices back down through the giant’s other knee. You follow close behind, planting your feet on its chest and riding it as it topples it backwards, stabbing your shield down into its throat as the two of you land.

“Hey, that was my kill!”

“You’ll have to move faster than that,” you tell her. “Got another name for your ANIMA. How about Lorlhau?”

You block an incoming mace with your shield, forcing the gargantuan weapon away in a burst of strength as you swing your heavy fist into the side of another drone’s knee. Durandal comes up behind you, bringing her sword down through the drone’s arm. She twists gracefully, bringing the blade back around into the thing’s gut, then slices upwards to bisect it. Two down.

“Hey, these things aren’t so tough. Uh, dunno about Lorlhau. What’s it mean?”

“Something-hew, I think.”

“I like Durandal better, still. Gimme another suggestion.”

Three giants swing their maces towards the two of you.

“Another suggestion?” You step inside a giant’s gait, grabbing the haft of its mace, resisting its force. You block a second swing, holding two of them at bay. Behind you, Su slashes through another drone, taking off its arms. Her cloak falls and reveals a pair of black wings. She rises into the air like an angel of death, her ivory sword plunging into a leering skull of fire.

“How about Joyeuse?”

“Too French.”

With a burst of strength, you knock away the giant at your shield and drag the other drone down to the ground. You pull the trigger twice, blasting a hole through its chest, sending superheated rock flying out of its back.

“Durandal’s French.”

“Yeah, but it doesn’t sound French.”

You turn around to block a mace. It meets your shield. You angle yourself, letting the weapon strike the ground beside you, then slam into the drone’s leg with your spiked shoulder.

“How about Laevateinn? A legendary Norse sword that resides in darkness.”

Su slices the giant’s mace arm off, before blocking an attack from a fourth giant with the flat of her massive sword. You grapple the drone you’re fighting. Your joints groan as you lift it into the air by its leg, and drop it with a tremendous shock into its own mace.

“Oooh, I like the sound of that.” She flips backwards from the force of the blow she received, and brings her sword back up against her shoulder as she hovers in place. “Holy shit, Noble. I can’t keep up if you kill them that fast!”

Five giants remaining.

Their heads lock onto your ANIMAs in unison, and their mouths open. You can feel heat building up around them.

“Su, time to split up.” You move right, she moves left. Five beams of light trail behind you – seems like they determined you to be the greater thread. You run faster, building speed. The drones can’t follow, and the heat trails farther behind you.

Laevateinn soars down on top of the giants, lopping off a head as she lands. Their maces swing relentlessly. She parries, blocks, and sidesteps, forced back step by step.

You turn back towards the giants, shifting your weapon into a hammer, raising your shield high. While their backs are turned, you jump.

Your shield meets the face of one giant, crushing it into so much heated rock. You spin. You stretch your hammer out, and it slams into through a chest, gouging out chunks of rock and fire. The impact blasts you around the other way. A mace reaches out to meet your hammer. Your weapon crashes through the drone’s, keeps on moving, and lodges itself into another skull.

The last giant swings its mace at you while you’re immobile.

A streak of white flies by your head. A sword pierces the thing’s chest. Its eyes flare with fire before turning to so much smoke.

You land, kneeling.

“Noble, we have some trouble. There’s more on the way.”

“Serena? How many?”

“I don’t know, there’s… Five, ten… at least another forty coming your way.”

You let out a sigh.

“8 shots left on the knuckle, 2 on the hammer, full on everything else. If I had some kind of power generator, but that would just be…”

You slap yourself mentally. Your ANIMA was made of your dreams. Nothing is too convenient. Your ammo count rises, hits triple nines, then vanishes into a figure-eight.

---
>>
>>30081889

“We make a good team, Su.”

“Oh, please. You just barged in and stole all the credit! 3 at once? Come on, man, let me have a few.”

“Well, there’s plenty more coming.”

“Yeah. Nicky just told me.”

You look behind you. Ten miles away, far down the road, your bodies lay submerged in creche fluid, dreaming within the cradle. Serena and Nicky watched over you, synchronizing your brainwaves to the creche.

Black cracks, like lightning, shatter the air all around you.

“Here comes round two, Noble. This time, try and leave me something to kill.”

“Only if you can keep up with me.”

She grins and meets your back, as six-winged figures with flaming swords step out of the void, surrounding you.

You shift into your cannon, locking it to your shoulder as the first of them charge.

You pull the trigger several times in quick succession. Beams of light fire forward with at every release, filling the oncoming enemies with holes. They keep pressing forward, ignoring the damage. You hold down the trigger, charging the gun, then fire. This time, instead of a bright beam, a bright ball launches forward. Your aim is poor – it strikes the ground instead.

The drones vanish in a blast of heat, leaving nothing but a crater behind. You make a mental note to continue aiming for the ground in that mode.

More of them follow, giving you no time to charge a second shot. You shift to your hammer instead, and charge forward. Behind you, blade clashes against blade. Su stabs her sword into the skull of an enemy as she takes to the sky. She slings the still-impaled drone through the rushing horde, and its body is chopped to bits by a storm of swords.

You swing your hammer, and it ploughs through a line of drones like butter. Su stays close, thrusting and slashing away at any blades that come into reach.

You look up – a tall, twiggy-looking drone with a searchlight for a head illuminates you. A dark cloud hovers over it, striking it with lightning.

You dodge away as its light grows brighter, as heat builds around you. It sears through several of the angel mockeries, turning them to ash in an instant.

Laevateinn moved just a little too late. The beam burns through her wings, and she falls to the ground. She cries out. Several swords rise up around her fallen form.

“Su!”

White flashes through the drones surrounding her. They fall, and she steps away from their bodies. Her wings are no more.

“I’m fine. Can’t fly anymore, but still breathing.”

You grin at her.

“Alright. Keep doing what you’re doing. I’m gonna take care of this big bastard over here.”

“No-“ She cleaves the sword arm off of an angel and grabs it in her off-hand. “-problem. More kills for me!” She stabs down, impaling the thing.

You look away, just in time to see a chunk of mountain falling on top of you. You aim your cannon up and blast it away. Boulders fall all around you.

“Hey, watch it!”

“Right, sorry.”

The searchlight giant aims a punch at you, now that it’s been deprived of its weapon. You step back as it lands in front of you, then stab your shield down into its fist. The thing pulls back in pain, pulling you up along with it. The black cloud’s lightning strikes the giant again. Its searchlight grows brighter. It turns towards Su, its heat intensifying by the second-

- You land on its shoulder and shear its head off with the side of your shield. Your fingers like a dagger, you impale it on your hand and send its beam through the hordes of six-winged forms all around.

---
>>
>>30083062

“God dammit, Noble, stop taking all the kills!” She impales another two drones on her blade. She slams them into the ground twice, then hurls them off against another enemy before running past and dragging her blade through it.

“I told you twice now, you gotta keep up!” Another searchlight giant raises its club. You turn the still-burning head towards it, vaporizing it. “Jesus, how many of these things are there?”

“Not nearly enough!” Su laughs. Torn metal and circuits fly up around her as she carves through still more drones.

“They keep coming, Noble! Seventy, eighty… too many to count!”

Ghostly laughter hangs in your ear.

“Alright. I’ll leave you to it, then.” More searchlight giants fall from the sky, landing with heavy thuds, each with a mountainous club in hand. You burn two of them before your stolen weapon gives out.

-why do you resist-

You raise the decapitated head to the cloud above you. The head dissolves, and the cloud with it.

“Was hoping to get more use out of the thing. Oh, well.” The searchlight giants stand ready, unmoving, and the countless lesser drones follow suit.

You charge your cannon. Energy builds in its chamber, a brilliant glow emanates from its twin barrels. It roars, eager to destroy.

Your parents, lying in their bed together six years ago, as you wondered why they wouldn’t wake up. Your brother, succumbing to the Bliss after a month of resisting it. He smiled as he fell asleep for the last time. Nicky, huddled in an alleyway, scared eyes looking up at you as you offered her the last of your rations. Su, standing over you with her foot on your chest and a baseball bat over her shoulder. Serena, pulling a knife from behind her as the three of you approached, glaring daggers at you.

No more. You had only one argument to make.

“To hell with your weak shit.”

You release the trigger. The sphere launches up into the sky, striking the gibbering mass. It explodes like a second sun, illuminating the landscape for miles around.

The creature is damaged, but not dead.

“Su, we’re going to do something insane.”

“Noble, you just did something insane!”

“I know. We’re going to go beyond that. Shield and sword, all in one. We’re gonna combine.”

“Combine? How is that even going to work? This isn’t exactly Power Ranger stuff, you know!”

“Just trust me, alright?”

You pull her close, staring into her face.

“Noble? Noble, what are you doing? What are you doing!?” Serena’s shrill voice in your ear.

“… Just trust me.”

Two shapes meld into one. Images flood your mind. Pleasure as she ground against herself, thinking of you. Jealousy as she saw you grow closer to the other girl. Despair in the rain as she watched you share a kiss with Serena, as she listened while you made your promise. Pain in her hands as she punched the wall of the trailer in regret. Resolution in her mind as she looked at you from afar. Resolution in her mind as she listened to your troubles. Resolution in her mind as she watched you in the Cradle.

“I’m sorry, Su, but… I’m happy you’re here.”

You feel her nod against you. “My fault, really. I should’ve moved first.” A wane chuckle in your ear.

You grasp a great shield in your left hand, and an ivory sword in your right. It seethes with power. The strength of your emotions, your bonds, all compressed and locked away into that blade. Black wings hang from your back. You spread them wide. Two cannons ride on top of your shoulders, barrels aimed at the mass in the sky.

Countless steel tentacles whip down at you. You fly up like a bullet piercing the night, avoiding them easily, weaving in and out, your sword slashing through them, your cannons blowing them apart as you close in.

“Take this! My love, my anger, and all of my-“

“I will punch you if you finish that.”

“Right, right.”

A great eye appears before you.

-incomprehensible. you continue to resist. incompre-

Your sword plunges through the eye, and the ANIMA follows. Your cannons fire rapidly in all directions, burning away chunks of steel and flesh as you carve your way through the alien. Wires and nerves lash out at you, sparking with electricity. You blow them all away in a frenzy of violence. The creature falls as you explode out the other side.

-you know not what you have done-

And the voice fades for good. The beast’s hulk vanishes into nothing as it lands.

“Alright. We’re done here. Nicky, Serena, pull us out.”

---

You wake with a jolt. As the Cradle rises out of the creche vat, you wiggle your fingers. Everything still working fine. You turn to the side to see Su doing the same thing. Nicky helps her out of the cradle, offering a towel after releasing the restraints. She has a nosebleed, but nothing more. Serena’s hand finds yours, gripping it tightly. She says nothing as she undoes the buckles and belts that held you still while you dreamt.

“Hey, don’t I get a towel, too?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah.” She pulls one from behind the vat.

“You seem more out of it than usual.”

“It’s been a long day, Noble.” She smiles up at you. “Honestly, I’m at my limit.”

You nod, peeling the creche suit off of your body and wiping off the fluid.

“Hey, Serena.” You turn to the side, looking at Su. “Can I… can I talk to you later.”

She stares back, and nods once. “Sure, Su. Yeah… that would be nice. Yes.”

---
>>
>>30086882

The fire’s burned down to glowing embers by the time you’re dressed again. You sit in front of it, letting the warmth dry off your hair.

“Well done, Mr. Jurick. I admit, I’m very impressed with your performance today. Both yours and Ms. Holt’s.”

You glance at him. He seems small, somehow. Frail. No more air of madness around him.

What do you do?
>>
>>30086958

Request a private meeting with him.

We are going to sort his shit out.

We've already conveyed our dislike of him. Anything further and we just look stupid.

You nod your appreciation. “You’re an irredeemable shitbag for what you did, but we can’t do without you.”

“I don’t know about that, Mr. Jurick. On the contrary, I imagine the four of you will do just fine if I were to perish. Irredeemable, though…” He sighs into the night, his breath misting. Uncharacteristically cold for midsummer.

“So where are we headed now?”

“From Cincinatti, we move back to the East Coast and regroup with our sister organizations at John F. Kennedy Space Center. Their teams have been having trouble in duplicating the creche and cradle manufacturing process. We provide them with our blueprints, allow them to study our prototype of the system, and once we have succeeded, we mount a full assault on the alien home territory.”

“Sounds good to me. What else should I know?”

“Headquarters radioed back not too long ago. While your method of surviving the Bliss is unusual, it is not the key we sought. The Bliss is not something that can be cured so easily.”

“I figured as much. So, what then? What do we do?”

“Well, that ties in with the assault. We have discovered the source of the Bliss. It is a machine that broadcasts a certain signal throughout various dimensions, the details of which are irrelevant to your task. To be frank, this talk of seventh dimensional organisms and so forth is beyond me. I’m a librarian, not a physicist.”

“So we go in, smash the machine, come out, and the Bliss is cured?”

“Yes. It is something of a temporary measure, but considering the length of their manufacturing processes for their drones, it will buy humanity several decades of life.”

“Decades? So me, Serena, Nicky, Su, all of us? We…”

“Yes, Mr. Jurick. All of you. And everyone else, too.”

>>
>>30087543

You smile at the prospect. “That’s the first good news I’ve heard in forever, Old Man.”

“Actually, my name is Sheldon Breach. Have I not mentioned this before?”

You purse your lips. “No. You haven’t. In fact, this is the first time you’ve spoken to me more than a few phrases.”

You stare into the flames as they flicker, watching shadows play against the ranch house ahead.

“So.”

“… So.”

What do you do?

[Continue speaking with him. He seems to have something else he wants to say.]

I really REALLY want to go make sure that our yandere GF and our genki Bro aren't murdering each other right now. But, I don't think we'll get another opportunity to see what's up with Breach.
>>
>>30087662
>>30087694

“What’s on your mind, Breach?”

“Not Sheldon, Mr. Jurick?”

“Breach sounds better.”

“Fair enough. Well… to be frank, the matter regarding Ms. Friedman is still on my mind. When I think back on the situation, the… the way I’ve…” He shakes his head.

“Come on. Don’t dick around.”

“I have to apologize to her, Mr. Jurick. Properly. If only to assuage my own conscience.”

“Your own con-“ You huff. “You-“

Breathe, Noble.

"I recognize how selfish my request may sound, but... as the only surviving adult of this party, it falls to me to set right these circumstances."

What do you say?
>>
>>30087840

Well is nobody else is volunteering.

Tell if he wants to apologize to Niki we'll be there. But more to make sure that he stops if we feel like it's too much for her than anything else.

Normally this would be ridiculous but as they're stuck working and living together.
>>
>>30088107
Seems like the way to go.

All we really have to do is hold everything together until we can finish this last mission.
>>
>>30088107
>>30088267

“This is the most ridiculous thing you’ve said in all this time.”

“I understand how you may feel about this, Mr. Jurick.”

“No, Breach. No, you don’t fucking understand. You raped her, you sonuvabitch. That fact stands alone. There’s no way you can apologize for that. If we didn’t still need you, I would kill you myself. As a matter of fact, I’ve been thinking about it ever since I learned it happened. And now you tell me you want to, what was it, ‘set right these circumstances.’ That’s fine. That’s easy for you to say. You’re not the one who’s-“

You slam your fist into the ground and stand up, glaring at him. “-traumatized by what’s happened. Do you have any, fuck, any idea, what she feels like? Do you know what she-“

You look down.

“Two days ago. She found me in the forest. She wanted to have sex with me. I nearly Blissed out, then, okay, but that’s no excuse for me. I let it happen, Breach, because, fuck, it was an impossible fucking situation. What the hell was I going to do, say no? Watch as she does something even more stupid because of it?”

You comb your hair back, pulling it out of your eyes.

“You live with your guilt, you fuck. That’s what I want to say. But I can’t, because we’re all stuck out here in the ass-end of nowhere, and all we have is each other. We need you, because you’re the one with the link to HQ. You want to apologize to Nicky? You want to make everything right for her?”

You look back into the fire.

“… You come to me before you do. You don’t speak unless I say you can. You stay ten feet away from her the entire time. And if you upset her in any way, I will knock you to the ground.”

“… Mr. Jurick-”

“You shut the fuck up and you get back in your fucking room, and you drink your fucking moonshine, before I come over there and beat you to death.”

He leaves you alone, and you stare into the fire, watching sparks fly into the night.

Su's smart enough not to let Serena go full Yuno Gasai on her ass. Hell Su's basically a MC in and of herself.

Nicky on the other hand we haven't even had a conversation with in who knows how long.

“Hey. You up there?”

No response.

“Mind if I come up?”

The trapdoor opens. You climb up the ladder slowly.

She sits by the window, looking at the bonfire out front. Tall for her age, you think. Used to be half your height, and now she was up to your ear.

“Hey.”

“Noble… I-I heard you arguing with the Old Man.”

“Yeah.” You take a seat opposite to her, holding your knees the way she did. “Turns out he’s got a name after all. Sheldon Breach.”

“Is that so?”

“Yeah.” You sigh. You wipe a little dust off the windowsill, smear it between your fingers. “You okay?”

She nods at first, then shakes her head. “None of this would’ve happened if I wasn’t here.”

What do you say?
>>
>>30088980
"True true. But I think it's worked out well so far. More or less anyways".

“Well…” You’re not sure what to say, here. “I guess that’s one way to look at it. But hey, it’s worked out alright otherwise, right? More or less?”

“If I wasn’t here… he wouldn’t have done that to me. I wouldn’t have done that to you. All of you would still get along just fine, right?”

“With Breach? Hell, no. I’ve had a bad feeling about him since I first met him. He didn’t look right. He was sketch, you know?”

She nods, and falls quiet again. Then, “Noble, I’m… I’m sorry.”

You look at her. She looks back, tears in her eyes. Reminds you of a scared bunny.

“I forgive you, Nicky.”

She closes her eyes and leans her head back against the wall.

“You remember when we first met?” You say. “Called you Tiny back then.”

“You gave me half a can of sardines. I hated sardines.”

“Well, it was all I had left. And you didn’t complain about it at the time.”

“I complained about it later.”

You chuckle. “Yeah, you did. Have to say though, you’re right. If you weren’t around, none of this would’ve happened. Su, you know. You really saved my ass when we met her.”

“She was in a gang with a bunch of other girls. She was the leader.”

“Yeah. And she thought I was stealing from their stock.”

“You did, though.”

“Did I?”

“Yeah. A can of beans and a can of soup. But that was all you took.”

“Huh. Guess so.” You stare at the far wall, reminiscing. “Those were hard times.”

“You did it for me, though.”

“Mmm. That’s what saved me. You begged her to let me go, not to kill me for it.”

“Her gang got wiped out by a drone attack a little while later, and she joined up with us instead.”

“Yeah. Just the three of us on the road, scavenging what we could, stealing when we had to.”

---
>>
>>30089468

Didn't copy/paste fully.

“And then we met Serena.”

“Yeah. She pulled a knife on me, first time we met. Hey, why is it that I’m always getting the short end of the stick in these stories?”

“Well, you’re a boy. Boys do… boys do… They kill us, Noble. They do things to us, and we can’t do anything about it.”

“Fair enough." You get back on track. "And who was it that made peace with her and us? You, right? Sure as hell it wasn’t gonna be Su, not with the way she was swinging that damn bat of hers.”

“I guess.”

“Hey, now. Lots of good came from you being here, you know? And don’t you think otherwise.”

“But… it’s all I can think about, Noble. God, I’m horrible, I just-“ She stops talking.

What do you say?.
>>
>>30089487
"We're all horrible. It's the world we live in now"
>>
>>30089528

“We’re all horrible. Me, Su, Serena, we’re no different. That’s just the world we live in, now.”

She sniffles.

“But you, you know. You’ve helped us change that. The ANIMAs, the creche, the Cradle, you’re the one who revolutionized it, brought it all together and made it work. And now, because of you, we have a way to cure the Bliss.”

“We do?”

“Yeah. Turns out that the aliens have some kind of machine they’re using. I dunno how it works, but it’s what’s causing the Bliss. So we head down to JFK Space Center. You know, with the, uh… The, uh, what was it called? The space shuttle.”

“And what then?”

“We meet up with other teams, we show them what you’ve done, and they’ll learn how to wire their own creches and cradles. You’ll have to teach them. Think you’re up to it?”

“God, no. I’m horrible with people.”

“That’s two of us. We’ll be horrible together, right?”

She giggles, even as she wipes the tears away from her eyes.

“So. Me and Su, and all the other pilots, we’ll go into the working ANIMA system, that you designed, and we’ll blow that machine up, and we’ll have cured the Bliss. That’s all there is to it.”

“You make it sound easy. It’s not going to be easy.”

“No,” you say. “No, it won’t.”

“The machine will be on the alien home ground. Heavily defended. Thousands, hundreds of thousands of drones. They’ll kill you, and it’ll be my fault.”

---
>>
>>30089789

“Come on, now. Noble Jurick doesn’t die so easy.” But the words ring hollow. “Maybe. But then, this is what I’m here for. Doing all I can, so you, Serena, Su, everyone across the world, can live their lives properly once again. Long lives. Sixty, seventy, eighty years, a hundred years if we get lucky. And that,” you prod her with your toe, ”Will be because of you.”

She says nothing for a while.

“Hey, Noble?”

“Yeah?”

“Stay with me for tonight. I don’t wanna fall asleep alone.”

“Okay.”

She scoots towards you, sitting beside you, and you put your arm around her.

“Noble?”

“Yeah?”

“I love you.”

“Love you too, Tiny.”

“But as a sister, not as a girlfriend, right?”

“… Yeah.”

She leans into you.

“That’s okay.”

That's it for today, folks! Thank you for participating. What did you guys think of today's session? I'll be around a little longer to hear any questions or criticisms you have.
>>
>>30089803

Imoto route: CLEAR!

Now let's hope Su and Serena haven't murdered each other while we've been gone.
>>
>>30089871
You ask us to write in suggestions a lot. Which is bad for me because I'm very indecisive. Glad others play.
>>
>>30090013
That is indeed something I do. I didn't use to, but now I feel that not having options and always asking for suggestions is a good way to let the players get involved in the story and make the important decisions, as opposed to the other way around.

I understand that it can make things difficult sometimes, especially if I don't give enough direction for you guys to write through.

>>30089831
>>30089878
True enough, true enough! And I guarantee that Su will make it through the night. Afterwards, though... Well, we'll see. It'll be up to you guys to keep her alive!
