You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

Today’s an early start for you for some reason. Maybe it was the fact that you didn’t want to wake up with another accidental hickey. Or perhaps it was because you had Tank practice today. Regardless of reasons, you and Kitten showered together, and quickly got yourself clothed for the day.

The two of you settle around the table for breakfast, which was simple instant noodles. Nothing particularly special about that.

EXCEPT IT WAS COLD AS FUCK. HOLY SHIT.

You shiver a bit. “Why is it so cold!?”

Kitten shrugs. “Do I look like a weatherman to you?”

You roll your eyes then lean back in your seat. You got some time before classes. Anything you want to do?

> Read a Book (Where’s Waldo)

FUUUU-

“There he is,” says Kitten, pointing to Waldo hiding in the gap between the Marines raising the flag over Iwo Jima.

You sigh. “Thank you, Kitten.”

“You’re really bad at Where’s Waldo, you know?” she says as she finishes up her noodles.

“Well thanks for the vote of confidence, Kitten,” you say as you put your bowl down into the sink. “Of course, I’m not the one giving people hickeys in their sleep.”

Kitten blushes, fuming. “Oh, don’t start!”

You walk over to her closet and grab some coats. Ugly as sin, but damn if they aren’t warm. You hand one to Kitten, then get to putting yours on. Kitten also grabs her scarf and yours.

You say, “Why is it so cold today?” as you wrap your neck up in the scarf. You and Kitten leave the dorm and meet your staff, all of whom are clad in their school coats. Except for Lisa, who’s actually gotten a very stylish violet dufflecoat.

“Morning, President!” says Nancy. “Shall we?”

You lock up the door, and you all head on to school.

>>
> Converse Casually

“Where’d you get that coat, Lisa?”

Lisa looks down at her coat. “Oh, this thing? The Sewing Club put it together for me. For free mind you.”

You nod. “I suppose it’s like you to accept free stuff.”

“The only people who don’t accept free stuff are idiots and proud idiots,” says Lisa as she runs her thumbs around the edges of her hood smugly. “Though, I see you’re wearing the schoolcoat. Not concerned with how fugly that thing is?”

You shrug. “If it works, it works.”

Nancy says, “Oh, when we get the time, we should definitely go shopping for clothes. But this week seems so busy.” She sighs. “I miss August. Much less to worry about.”

You say, “Hey, think of it like this, Nancy. Once we get through the tournament, we’ll be in business.”

You arrive at the campus. Students of all kinds are wearing coats, whether the school or their own. It’s a cloudy day today as well, but it doesn’t look likely that it’ll rain.

I can see your point Anon, and I do agree to an extent so i won't argue considering it is expensive since it is a vintage, though I'm not sure a Hellcat is a light tank.

We need the funds for the Sherman but other then that what do you think we need?
>>
>>30081981

It can sure as hell work as one, along with fitting in in a variety of roles.
>>
>>30081924
Sounds good to me. I want as many fresh crews as we can manage beforehand because this match will be a great opportunity to get them experience.

>>30081981
Not him but we need upgrades for the Tiger II, T-34, StuG, and Sentinel I think.
>>
Anon's I've been doing some research on the Firefly and it seems to be based off the M4A4 Sherman.

The one thing I don't understand after doing it is what made the M4A4 Sherman different then the other variants?

What I could understand is that they were given a different engine (did it make it faster? slower?but that was about it?

Are there anymore characteristics that made it different?
>>
>>30082032
the Tiger II I can understand since it's cheap but we don't need right now.

the t-34 I think is fine other then adding the equipment we did for our other tanks,

Stug should be fine

Sentinel, not much to change other then the 17 pounder.

YOU CAN’T HIDE FOREVER, WALDO.

FUCK YOU WALDO.

> Where’s Waldo in World War II: Progress: 140%

You yawn quietly as you are in a library. You check the time. Decent amount of time for you to get to class. That Waldo though. Damn him. No longer shall you have people point him out for you, you’ll find him on your own and you’ll do it with pride.

Or die trying.

Not really but you get what you mean.

You wave hello to Niven as she walks past you. A new book in her arms. It looked like Glory Road by Robert A. Heinlein. Girl must really love his stories.

Anyway though, time to get to class. You arrive at your math class in good time. Your cellphone pings with a new email, but you can probably check that later at lunch. Now is the time for learning.

Because you’ve been reading so much, you’ve actually picked up on the habit of taking notes. Thus, while your laptop isn’t the best platform for taking notes on algebra, you do what you can and surprisingly things seem to be sticking. It feels weird but you feel just a smidge smarter.

English class is the same as well. You find yourself more consciously paying attention to things rather than falling asleep. Quite the turnover from the early days of September where falling asleep appeared to be the norm. Chemistry as well surprisingly is coming to you second nature like the breath from your lungs.

Finally though, it’s time for lunch.

We already need to put around 4 000 $ in the class budget, that should be more than enough for it.

Also, we need more crews before thinking of doing something with the Sherman chassis, we have a Panzer IV and a Hellcat ready for battle. We can just use our money to upgrade our current tanks for now (Tiger II, Sentinel and Churchill in first).

Well I agree, we need to put in at leasr 4,000 dollars in the budet which should bring us to around 12k

We also need to look for a new instructor soon.

But I don't feel comfortable spending 9k until we at least see how much a new instructor will cost.

It’ll be in Sweden on October the 26th! As always, 72 hours ahead, you will be forwarded maps of the area and your selected flag tank!

Bon chance!

Autang Panzer to the Poles and the Book where we got the improved suspension and armor to the Aviation club

We're better off asking the Poles today, the sooner they could get acquainted with the Hellcat, the better. Handling its speed would definitely be a challenge, even for a team as zany as the Poles.
>>
>>30082693
Sure, if they want the tank though it's better to ask the entire team in general if they want to switch tanks after the first match seeing we got two perfectly good tanks
>>
>>30082718

That would become a mess pretty quickly.
>>
>>30082738
How so
>>
>>30082778

What if multiple wanted the same tank? Or if some teams try to go for a tank we think is not suited for them? We know that we're reserving the Rifle team the T-34, but they don't know that and at this point they'll jump on any chance to get a new tank.
>>
>>30082802
Then we settle this diplomatically.
>>
>>30082525
>Y
>>
>>30082845

Or we avoid the whole mess in the first place and ask individual teams. We will very quickly lose control on how our lineup turns out if we go like this, we're head of the Tankery Club, doing something like this is hardly erroneous.
>>
>>30082870
And if they say no?

Also most of them should be fine with their tanks.
>>
>>30082935

Then we ask another team.

It's seriously not that hard. There's no reason why we should put the tanks up as some sort of arbitrary lottery instead of best optimizing them for our team.

“Nancy, can you make a call to Miss Lutz for me? Ask her if she can be our instructor?”

Nancy nods. “Of course, President! It’ll be expensive, but we can always switch her out if need be.”

> Note: You can always switch out Instructors if need be.

You dig into your lunch. “Though, I gotta say, I will miss Captain Dubois. She was pretty chill for an instructor.”

Lisa nods. “Well, she’s got her duties. Remember, she’s an instructor at the Armor School for the US Army?”

You say, “I actually completely forgot about that. Shame. But still, she was nice and she taught us a lot. I hope I can see her around.”

“Still, Lisa. How come the Sewing Club got you that jacket and they haven’t done the same for me?”

Lisa shrugs. “You didn’t ask.”

… Well, that’s a good point. You say, “I suppose. Maybe I’ll talk to them later or something. I mean, my greatcoat’s warm as fuck mind you but hell I’d like something fashionable, you know?”

Nancy nods. “I can sympathize with that, President.”

You say, “Admittedly, I’m not one to give a shit about fashion, but I still do care about appearances. It’s a matter of looking presentable, you know? Hell, Fairless has that badass trenchcoat of hers, give her a fedora and she’d look like a female version of Humphrey Bogart.”

Lisa quirks her brow. “Who’s Humphrey Bogart?”

You almost spittake on your milk. “Wow, Lisa. You don’t-“ You rub the bridge of your nose. “Christ. Watch Casablanca or the Maltese Falcon or something.”

“… FIVE!” You struggle to say as you struggle to lift both Willie Hanna and Nicole Grant as they hang from your upper arms. You’re lifting mostly with your legs, but then again, two almost full grown women are kind of a difficult prospect.

You bring yourself down to a crouch.

“Wow, I’m impressed Gertrude. You’re stronger than a Gorilla on steroids,” says Grant.

You nod. “Thanks.” You grit your teeth and start lifting them both up again. “… SIX!” You crouch down again.

Hanna says, “Didn’t think you were this strong.”

You say, “Believe me, Hanna. Tankery does things to you. Speaking of which, how are you doing with the animation club?”

Hanna tilts her head from side to side. “Oh, Anime Club’s stopping us from getting our regular pizza deliveries and are threatening to have our building ‘cursed’ or some shit. But it’s fine. They’re still annoying as hell though.”

“Of course,” you say. You struggle to raise yourself again. “GAAH!... SEVEN!” You crouch down again, sweating. “Okay, I think that’s all I’ve got in me, girls.”

Grant nods. “And hey, your Freshmen girls are telling me they want to start a band. Real nice of you to support them. Drop by our clubroom on the weekends, maybe I can help you.”

You nod. “Okay, Nicole.”

You sigh. Time for the next class.

History flies on by, mostly because you’re tired as fuck. Understandable. Theatre as well you decide to take the initiative of taking a nap. Not like you ever do anything in that class anyway. French goes by a bit more slowly as you do have a quiz. However, your studying has made you a bit more susceptible to actually trying on them.

Finally, school’s done for the day.

“Oh, I’m feeling positive, Nancy.” You hold up the book. “I just found Waldo!”

Nancy smiles, nodding. “That’s nice.”

“Anyway,” you say. “Let’s head to the HQ. Everyone already there?”

Nancy nods. “Yep.”

The two of you leave campus and head down the block to the Tankery HQ. The day’s actually lifting up quite a bit, the clouds are parting and it feels just a smidge warmer. You yawn a little. Lifting those two girls took it out of you a bit. Hopefully you won’t have to do much more lifting today.

“Gertrude!”

All of your loaders meet you as soon as you enter the warehouse. Tara says, “Wendy just call you a punkass bitch!”

You quirk your brow. “Pardon?”

Wendy says, “That’s not what I said. I was just explaining to them that lifting heavy shells is a lot more than heft and stuff. Now, I might’ve said that even you would have trouble loading but-“

Gussie says, “I bet you can beat her in a lifting competition! Mr. Mishka’s got 152mm shells here! Think you can beat Wendy?”

You hold your hands up defensively. “Girls, girls. Much as I love weightlifting challenges, I have to say no.” All of the loaders groan, except for Wendy. “Maybe after Practice provided I’m not too tired, okay?”

The loaders disperse, talking shit between Wendy and yourself. Wendy tells you, “They’ll make mountains out of moleholes out of anything.” You shrug at that. Not exactly true but not untrue either. Wendy leaves to join her crew.

You walk up to Cupid and pat the side of the hull. “So, Kitten.” Kitten is sitting atop the turret, playing her DS. “How you doing?”

Kitten shrugs. “Eh, just itching to practice as all.”

“Speaking of itching.” You look back to see the Girl Scouts, Anne Juliette, Sarah Gordon, Cynthia Low, and Bailey “Daisy” Powell.

“Well,” says Low, “Could be worse. We could be Wing Scouts and this would be Skycraft. Maybe fly a B-25 Mitchell right into the ground.”

Daisy says, “I like the look of the Panzer IV.” She pats the hull admirably, smiling.

Kate walks up to Daisy. “Like it? It’s a very reliable medium tank. Did us a good turn in the Tankery Match too.”

Daisy gasps, grinning. “Oh! That was you!? Oh my goodness! This is yours?”

Kate shrugs. “We’re in the big kitty now, the King Tiger. If you want, you can take it.”

You all end up in the lecture room where Dubois continues her lectures. “Right… I do have to say that this is my last week here. But, let’s keep doing this as if I’m not going away. Let’s review.”

She quickly draws a silhouette of a tank on the board. “What is this?”

Cathy says, “Churchill tank!”

“What variant?”

Cathy pauses, hesitating. “Uh… Mark VII?”

“Mark V,” says Dubois. “Compare the gun to your own, Cathy. Close though, I’ll give you that.” Dubois looks over at you. “So, Gertrude. Anything you want to learn today?”

Did you see them name it? They don't like the tank they've had because all of them were bad (except the SU-76, which was sent away) and had no reason to like in the first place. The Rifles are not a good example because it's a matter of going with a better tank if they're already emotionally attached to their previous one, not going with a better tank if they already hate their current tank.

>Polish team could do the same whether or not they thought it was the better choice

No they can't, their situation was not the same as Rifle team's.

The tanks have lined up at one end of the field. The Girl Scouts had a bit of trouble getting out of the warehouse in the first place, but once things were settled out, they managed to get to the field in good time, around ten minutes late.

Of course, they weren’t the only team with issues.

The Hellcat crashes into the back of the Panther. Luciano shouts, “Hey, watch it you retards!”

George responds with, “This thing accelerates like a motherfucker!” The M18 nimbly backs up, then crashes right into the Panther again. “Okay, I am just turned right upside down here.”

Luciano shouts, “If you don’t stop ramming into my tank, I’m going to ram into you. And I’ll only need to do it ONCE.”

The M18 Hellcat turns right then barrels down the field and into the lone tree that nobody ever hits because it was a lone tree.

Janek says, “We’re having some issues.”

You say, “I can see that.”

George says, “This thing’s a lot more sensitive than Szarik!”

You sigh. Time to get on with maneuvering practice anyway. You run the exercises which consist of a lap around the field, then a coordinated close into a wedge formation, then into column formation, then into a staggered line.

And all throughout, the Girl Scouts continuously shift into reverse or the Poles crash into something.

Could be worse.

Sure....but I still think Polish team opinion matters, if they can feel the difference that the Hellcat is better then good for everyone.

Also the Su-76 was a casemate, it's design flaws are kind of obvious considering we're not like Kursk in which they have a standard plann for those

“And firing!”

The 76mm booms, sending its HVAP round flying across the field and into the target. You check the target through your periscope. It just hit right below the bullseye. Everyone else splashes short or overshoots, with the exception of the Aces’ King Tiger. Michelle actually said this to you before Gunnery Practice, “The 88 is well-known for its long range and its flat trajectory.”

Man, kinda makes you wish you could stick an 88 in this Sherman.

What the fuck are you thinking?

Actually, you check the Girl Scouts targets, you see that their side hasn’t fired yet. You ask over the radio, “Juliette, something wrong?”

Juliette says, “How do we fire our gun?”

You say, “Okay, in the gunner’s position. Where you uh…” Okay, you don’t actually know how to fire the gun from the Panzer IV, all tanks are pretty different. “Kate, take care of it.”

The 76mm gun on the Hellcat fires immediately after that, splashing halfway from the target.

“I can’t hit anything with this!” says Janek.

You sigh. It’s like their first days all over again.

With that, practice is over. All the tanks are promptly returned to the warehouse. The Poles actually have some difficulty getting in though, due to the rather incredible acceleration, but they manage to get it parked.

You hang around the building. Anything you want to do?

Wendy says, “And I suppose it feels nostalgia lugging 88 shells around again-“

Buchalter and the rest of the loaders stand around you in the lounge. The rest of the crew sit by, observant and taking bets. You and Wendy stand next to each other, in front of you on the ground are 152mm Shells, AKA one of the heaviest rounds legal by Tankery standards.

Buchalter writes something down on a clipboard. “Right… goal is endurance. First girl to drop it loses.”

You both nod. Wendy says, “Let’s get this over with.”

Buchalter shouts, “Go!”

The both of you lift up the shells. You struggle to hold it up to your chest, gritting your teeth such that Franny must be tingling with dental joy. Sweat breaks out on your forehead as you hold your breath.

You glance over at Wendy, who’s holding the 152 as if it were weightless. She looks over at you, neutral.

Buchalter checks the time. “5 minutes, 30 seconds.”

Wendy sighs. “I said let’s get this over with.”

You nod, chuckling as your fingers start going red from the stress. “Yeah, go ahead and drop it, Wendy!”

“Oh for fucks sake, don’t tell you’re really getting into this,” says Wendy.

Joanna says, “I put five dollars on you, Wendy. Don’t worry!”

“Hey, Joanna,” says Wendy. “How about instead of making stupid bets, you can do something just as stupid like buy an M-80 and set it off in your pussy you cunt.”

Wendy meanwhile sees you and says, “You have terrible form.”

You say, “How the fuck are you doing this!?”

“I’m a loader. The bigger question is why did you accept this challenge?”

You say, “Because I think I can win!”

Buchalter checks the time. “7 minutes.”

Wendy again shifts the 152 to one arm and checks the time. Her eyes widen a bit. “Ah shit. I gotta get on my shift.” She drops the 152 and then walks off.

Joanna groans. “Ah! Damn it, Wendy!”

“Fuck you, Joanna. I’ll see you in the morning,” says Wendy as she packs up then leaves. You immediately drop the shell and painfully raise your arms in triumph.

“I win!” Everyone politely applauds your success.

You have Kitten take off your coat, and your blazer, and then undo your bra. Sweet relief. You lie back on the bed and groan as Kitten begins cooking your relatively simple dinner. “What are you making, my slave?”

“Instant noodles with broth made of my piss, your highness.”

“Excellent.”

You turn over, cringing as you roll over your arm a bit. You wrap your arms around your 75mm APBCR plushie, relaxing.

You barely pull your laptop out and then start browsing through your notes, your chest resting on the plushie AP round. It’s mostly a review of certain vocabularly that you need to know for a Quiz tomorrow. Then there’s also more notes for math for another quiz tomorrow. Boy, that’ll be fun.

At least you’re studying. Kitten sets down a bowl of instant noodles next to you, which you start slurping up in great hunger.

She sits down next to you, throwing off her blazer. “Boy, you’re really more studious now, Trudy.”

You nod. “Indeed, Kitten. A good President is one who’s intelligent,” you say. You cringe a little as you have to move your arms to gesture to that.

Kitten notices that however. “Want a massage?”

You nod. Kitten kneels on your back, your hips between her legs. “So, do you actually know how to massage my arms?” you ask.

Kitten shrugs. “Eh, I’ll wing it. Go ahead and show your shoulders for me please.” You nod and then quickly unbutton the top few buttons of your shirt and then slink yourself slightly out of it, revealing your bare shoulders to Kitten. She starts pressing her fingers into OOOOHHH WOW THAT FEELS GOOD.

You sigh in ecstasy. “Oh… goodness Kitten, that feels great!”

Kitten blinks. “You think so?”

“Yeah!” You whistle admirably. “I think you’ve got a career as a masseuse waiting for you!”

Kitten scoffs. “Oh, wouldn’t dream of it, Trudy. Getting to massage muscular men and beautiful women for a living, that must be something else.” She says, “But, now that you say it though, I actually don’t really know what to do with my life after High School, you know?”

You nod. “Yeah, I know.”

“I mean… what is there for me to do?”

“Kitten, there’s plenty for you to do,” You say. “Just your put mind to something that you want to do, and make a career out of it.”

Kitten says, “And if that doesn’t work?”

You tilt your head side to side, smiling. “I’ll take care of you for as long as I need to.”

Kitten smiles. “D’aw… that’s nice of you, Trudy. But I’ll be 50 by the time I get a job.”

“You say that as if it’s a bad thing.”

Kitten leans forward, resting her head on your shoulder, and then rubbing her cheek against yours. “Love you, Trudy.”

“Love you too, Kitten.”

YA THINK? the damn /u/ boats are infesting this quest....
>>
>>30089542
Okay, I laughed.

Good thread Schteel, kind of soured by the big argument but it was still really fun despite. Thank you for running and have a good night!
>>
>>30089545
Thanks for running!

And man, I'm still amazed at the amount of vitriol that can get thrown around for something like tank purchases/allocation. Guess once you give /tg/ an IC excuse to powergame...

>>30089581
Do we get to roleplay an internal struggle with our sexuality?
>>
>>30089542
Gay implies that we don't like guys, which was blatantly contradicted by both Gertrude and kitten's reactions upon seeing newly beefy Eugene. But Bi? Totally.
>>
>>30089545
Also Schteel, what's up with the outro music? I don't really get it.

>>30089565
>powergame
Sorry for wanting to get through the quest. I find management to be fun, but I guess making good choices gets in the way of yours.
>>
>>30089581
This is getting slightly annoying.....

I wonder if German is giving us some sort of meter in which if we go over we will be gay...
>>
>>30089633
I tend to just throw in outro music depending on what's catching my fancy at the time.

Sacred harp a best at the moment.

So guys, it has occurred to me that we'll be most likely getting a new crew (Theater Tech) along with our T-34 when we're finally finished with that play on the 18th.

To that end, I propose we finally fix up that Sherman to the A4 model and get it waiting for them. I also think we should push back the match with Kay a couple of days, just so the crews (both Rifles and Theater Tech) can get used to their new rides. Does anyone oppose this?
>>
>>30089633
We kind of turned a experienced crew into a semi-experienced crew, that sure is power gaming alright

I fear for the other crews now.
