Notes on Rolls and Voting:

When I request rolls, each set of three rolls counts for one action. For example, a two-step plan would take the first 6 linked rolls. A particularly bad failure can interrupt a string of actions.

When rolling 1d100, I will consider criticals within the first ten linked rolls. Only criticals that occur in the first three rolls will be counted as "supercrits". This is still the case even if you'd have plan long enough to require more than ten rolls.

When rolling 1d20, the rules are the same, but I only consider criticals for the first five rolls, rather than ten. Criticals in the first three are still "supercrits".

When a plot choice results in extensive debate, I'll try to weed out the most popular trains of thought, and then call a vote on them. When voting, please respond with only a link back to the post and the number corresponding to your opinion. Other votes are discounted, including those with dice rolls or extra spaces.

Finally, note that this is not a democracy; it is a benevolent dictatorship.

Arland Summit Summary: Goals, Objectives, and Major Characters (thanks to Sorry for helping me and the players out!):

http://pastebin.com/FsP2C5Hr
-----

Your gathered allies have arrived in Arland, a war council set to gather their combined forces to face the demons and mages of Kan-Abar.

At the moment, you have the strong support of Matthel Flint; Hemmelus, the sage; the Lord Imil Anderson; and, hopefully, Harvan Flint.

Firmly against you stand Gerald Flint, Lord Prule Waterford, and Arcturis Flint himself.

Addendum: if a spell takes longer than "a turn" to cast, I'll let you know. For the most part, don't worry about it.

Failing a spell can be interpreted as not firing it in time before an enemy's strike, or being interrupted.

-----------
-----------

>Last time...

"Everyone," says Abigail. "If I could have your attention."

Conversation comes to a halt. All eyes fall on her.

"I know that we all come from different places, and that we all bear our own burdens. But today - this is it. This is the moment we've worked for. We are the leaders of the world. This is our time to change it, to shape it. Make it something better. I'm glad you're here. All of you. Together, we can create real change, and make tomorrow a better day than today."

A quiet and humble acceptance meets her words. Yi Fang smiles at his niece. Proud, for a moment. And then the expression leaves him.

You can't imagine how he'll react when he learns that the Black Lady is Melody.

It is only a few minutes until one of the citadel's stewards comes knocking at the door. He guides you into a large audience chamber a floor above. A long, wide table has been set in the room, running alongside tapestries and several maps hanging on the wall. One is of the entirety of Venia; another depicts the local region of Arland, Archon, and the Empire of Light. Another focuses specifically on Arland, and the edge of the surrounding countries. A fourth encompasses the southern half of Venia, the northern cutoff at about halfway through Kelvere.

The Flint family is already seated. Arturis is at the head of the table; Gerald is at his right hand. Lord Anderson and Lord Waterford are next to Harvan and Matthel. Yi Fang sits at the opposite end of the table, and everyone else arranges themselves around him. The surface is large enough to allow everyone space, but small enough that a loud voice could be easily heard from the other side.

This is going to be a nerve-racking thread, I just know it.
>>
Arcturis leans his elbows onto the table. "So. You wanted to talk, Archon. Forest Den. Haven. Here I am. What have you to say?"

"To formally state our intentions, my lord," Abigail says, "we wish to join Arland in a military alliance of mutual defense against Kan-Abar's armies. In exchange for our aid, we seek your recognition, and your friendship."

And that begins a sort of back and forward banter. The elves, the werewolves, and the orcs all make requests that Arland recognize their status as city-states, and make intial offers as to what personel and supplies they can contribute to the war effort.

Arcturis seems to home in one something after the basics are laid on the table - Steward. "That construct, there," he says. "Who owns it?"

A moment of uncertainty arises from your end of the table. The Flints don't really appreciate what Steward is...

How do you handle this situation?

>Keep Steward a hidden card, for now. Va'ad won't be soon discovered.
>Explain in full Steward's origins.
>Allow Steward to answer for himself.

Steward is a good judge and not only that but he also deserves the chance to ask for formal recognition like the elves, orcs, and werewolves has.

"I am not owned," Steward says, in his robotic tone, "in the sense that you use the term. My name is Steward. I am an artificial intelligence created by the ancient dwarven empire."

The Flints exchange glances. Lord Waterford chokes on his wine. Anderson sits back in his chair. It creaks slightly under his weight.

"...I think we would appreciate a more thorough explanation, Steward," Matthel says.

And Steward gives it to them. He doesn't hold anything about his origins back.

He does not, however, mention the split in the city. He also omits anything about how 002 was hunting you down because, as Erebus, he believed you might stop his plans of harnessing the chaotic energy being released from the damaged world-core - power that he would have used to take a final vengeance for the dwarves. Vengeance upon the very people whose ancestors now sit at the table across from you.

They sit in thought for a moment. Arcturis is the first to speak. "Just to make sure I have this straight. You mean to say that a race of artificial intelligences now currently occupies the legendary city Va'ad, and that you're taking this opportunity to...do what, exactly?"

"Introduce ourselves in peace, and goodwill."

"That is another member of the alliance."

Simple and effective.
>>
"And how did you - Steward - come to ally yourself with..." Arcturis gestures vaguely at Fang.

"John Nyx assisted me with an engineering problem, of sorts," Steward says. His tone is flat and even. "In thanks, we have pledged our resources and time to his cause. Like our compatriots, we too seek recognition."

"I'd bet you'd have a lot to offer, in terms of resources," Gerald says. "As well as you, Lord Vellik."

"That might be so," Vellik says. "It's no secret I was fascinated by dwarven technology. Steward and I share that in common, though he a bit more personally than I."

"If Arland is going to help you - "

"You seem to be mistaking something, Lord Flint," Yong Xu says to Gerald. "We aren't requesting help from Arland. We are offering - "

"Friendship," Abigail says, interrupting him. She cuts Xu a glare, then turns back across the table. "I'm sure that, in friendship, we can share and assist one another in various matters. But I'd hope that such things can wait until immediate threats have been dealt with."

"Hmph." Lord Waterford raises an eyebrow, a strong gesture on his thin face. "You are naive, girl, and foolish. You came to us. We will set the terms of this agreement."

You decide that you do not like Lord Waterford very much.

"Make no mistake in thinking that you are somehow vital to our alliance. We are here in friendship and goodwill, because OUR friend, Donovan, cares for his homeland and wishes to see it prosper, rather than be trapped in the dark ages of ignorance and petty dependance on ancient grudges. This is not the age of the war between the elements, of Elementals rivalling one another and pitting their servants against each other like so much fodder. That era is gone and dead and has been rotting for long enough, even though the angels may wish to cling to such ideas as them being the sole vanguards of truth and justice and right in the land. Sandalphon will not save you, not if he believes that he may gain from allowing you to bleed and sweat before swooping in and wresting control from your hands when you have no other choice but to accept.

We come and extend our hand, with no other threat hanging over your head than the one that already looms over all of us. If you would send us away simply because of old prejudices and archaic grudges, then that is of little consequence to us. But when the walls around you fall, do not presume to think that it is anyone's doing but your own."
>>
>>30200136
The vast majority of this speech has nothing to do with the issue at hand.

I don't see a need to bring up shit like old grudges and all that when this is about him believing he has the right to make demands even though we came her to help him.
>>
>>30200136

That's quite a tirade, and a justified one, certainly.

But I'll let you decide on what to say.
>>
>>30200198
He believes he has the right to make demands because he believe HE is 'right'. He's convinced that he is somehow placed on a pedestal of righteousness and justice because of the grudge between Archon and Arland. If we hadn't brought Archon, we wouldn't be seeing anywhere NEAR the amount of resistance that we've been having right now. All this comes down to is Arcturis' beligerent dickbaggery and swollen ego telling him 'fuck these guys, we're better than them'.
>>
>>30199845
"We came here to help you stop demons. Not beg you for your aid. What makes you believe you have the right to ask demands of people who've offered their assistance in a time of need?

The angels have had many opportunities to send aid but it was only after we approached you ourselves that they made any kind of move. If they had your interests at heart why wait until only when they lose a supposed advantage to act?"

Eh, it could probably be downsized a bit to make it seem less like a rant at Arcturis.

I'm pretty sure Waterford's just after a profit here. It's just a guy thinking he can squeeze something out of this because he believes he's in the position too.

Just say we've prepared compensation for Arland's aid in this fight. I don't think this is the place for idealism and shit about angels and Ring City unless you want to call out Waterford on the slave trade and what Ring City was doing to the Shadow Mages.

"And we came to you last, not because it was critical, but because it would be convenient for all parties sake - and because donovan is our friend."
"Here's the thing. You think your bargianing position is strong, that the angels will swoop in to save you "

"Archangel Michael is dead. Lucifer did not make it off of xile. The names of the angels everyone memorized as a kid is dwindling and shrinking. Sandalphon sits around, not acting, because he wants to rule the world, not save it, and will use any political excuse to use one to do the other."

"But heres the thing. The angels have spend 700 years without a purpose, a reason. They're no longer concerned with doing the right thing - I saw Michael not just admit, but revel in being a torturer because he was BORED. "
"They keep slaves of mages, allies, people too powerful to compete with them. First shadow mages, next wind mages. "

"If you are going to cry for help to angels, you should cry to haven. All of their slaves, who happened to be shadow mages, and the angels who still have a heart, like auriel, are on our side. We're actually MORE powerful than the ringed city at the moment."

"As long as Sandalphon is in charge, you will never be their equal. Beneath their wing, or kneeling in front of them, but never equal. that's what we are offering"

I'm not sure bribery is the correct direction to go in here. Besides, Arcturus is the person who matters, not Waterford.
>>
>>30200593

Addendum: Two things I wanted to point out:
The list of angels - top ten, most high, etc - Revise them.
Raphael and Sandy are left, i think that leave's #3 spot open by my loose reconing, and Tyrael(auriel's second in command? t-something? as #six) - we seriously need to point out the list of current, top-level angel players, and make a point of laying their moral sins straight out.

Now is Ila and Auriel's time to shine. Ila to provide the incredibly truthful sob story, and auriel to back it up - because lets face it, SHE discovered proof of michael's rapist tendencies and ACTED on it, and because theres NO WAY the top ranking officers of the angels didn't know about Plan Slavery.
>>
>>30200470
If we do go full disclosure on the Ring City incident then we should definitely mention Waterford's own involvement in the slave trade first to lead into it. After detailing what was going on we can use the shock to back up this tirade: >>30200136 since it paints the Ring City in the right light for that kind of thing.

We could also mention the little tidbit about how dynamo energy mimics that of a soul and it's not all that hard to make a casing to contain a soul if you understand that concept.

>>30200593
Change Lucifer to going missing since knowing he's dead implies some things we don't want to imply. Also there's no fucking way we're more powerful than the Ring City. Maybe the alliance as a whole but not Haven itself.

You don't have to take a bribery route.

Just point out that Aeolus was a giant hoarder and that Xile is filled with his treasures. Than point out that Haven has the only means of getting there.

He can't make demands when it requires our cooperation to visit his own heritage and get the loot.

I thought "lucifer getting killed by xile's ancient magics" was vague enough - considering how dangerous we've said xile is - to be as vague as you want without admitting to murder.

Secondly....
>Stolen 1/2 airships
>stole half the angels
>stole ALL their thieves and spies
>fragged/stole top-tier leadership (Sandy vs erebus, raphael vs auriel)

Yeah I don't believe you. Maybe technically they have more angels on board, but claiming 'oh yeah we have half the angels left in the world' is totally fitting disinformation.

Then we need to confer with auriel on the way to do this - since she's the one who did the legwork to find the corpse of the women michael murdered - get our stories straight, and set ourselves up to be a lesser partner in that whole shindig than we really were.

Sooner or later we need to break that card out to sway people's minds, especially if we can totally blow the angels trustworthyness when they arrive - and we need to have that card ready

Honestly, I think he's sending Raphael, not Himself - given joey's overshadowing.

The best thing we could do is..... pretend to expect him!

"Excellent. Archangel raphael, welcome to the negotiations. We've been expecting you."

"PLZ, there's no way the ringed city wouldn't send someone to keep an eye on things. I'm just surprised they sent someone actually important instead of a shadow mage. "

And then just treating them like another partner in the alliance, and essentially crushing them with the weight of obligations vs demons - and reminding them to play nice with other partners, which means not being dicks to their neighbors
>>
"Lord Waterford," you say, "you mistake our intentions. We are here to include Arland in our alliance, as we share an enemy - not beg for help. Donovan wanted his country to be part of the solution. And while we do have our requests, an acknowledgement of other nations isn't much of a burden when Arland makes no claims on the Great Forest itself.

"That begin said," you say, "Haven has a means of accessing the islands of Xile. Aeolus was notorious for hording his treasures. You'll need our cooperation at some point."

"What did you find on Xile, exactly?" Waterford asks.

"We found everything," Donovan says. "The city. The castle. His treasure. It's sitting right there."

Arcturis cocks his head. "How much, boy?"

Donovan tells him.

Matthel whistles. The room is quiet after that.

----------
----------

The meeting eventually drags down into specifics. Vaz Grak and Valeria have drawn chalk lines on the maps, staking out their territories. Janus Miller doesn't seem interested in territory, or recognition, and has nothing to contribute on that front. The Warleader spends a great deal of time emphasizing the bulb of freshly claimed land around the city of Abbotsford, though no one pays him all that much attention.

Meanwhile, Donovan has been giving a bit more detail about your trip to Arland. You watch Waterford carefully, trying to gauge his reaction. You see him perk up when Donovan mentions the paintings and tapestries. Maybe he has a taste for fine art?

<Shadow.>

You glance over. It's Ila. <What is it?>

<That man, Waterford,> she says. <I wasn't sure of it at first...but from what I've heard about him, he has to be the same man. Arland outlaws slaves, but he owns human property in more liberal regions - Ulund, and the Frontier. Maybe Imil.>

<I've heard as much.>

<I think he may have a hand in collecting mages for the city,> she says. <When I was working for them, I tried to pick up anything I could on how they located and brought in new shadow and spirit mages from the populace.> Her eyes narrow. <They couldn't do it all themselves - not enough angels. They had to rely on local lords, lords like Waterford. He's probably responsible for a lot of kidnappings.>

What do you do?

Ask waterford upfront.

We have a reputation - that Arcturius called us on - for being straight and honest.

Confer with auriel. She's a leader, 5th highest, she'll know SOMETHING.

Step 1: Ila/auriel/shadow conversation
step 2:

Step 3: This is something we want to save for when the angels arrive. If we burn waterford at the stake NOW, it'll bite us later - best thing we can do is throw the angels under the bus for that, but do arland a huge favor keeping waterford maybe slightly out of that fire.

To do that, we need to figure out just how involved he is, now.
>>

Please remind us, SM, who have we been neglecting while we're here? There's a LOT of players, and its hard to keep track of it all.

This may be a good point. He may not give a shit that we know. Matthel and Donovan would certainly give a shit, but unfortunately Arcturis makes the shots, not them.

>>30201777

>and/or we can discredit the angels and (optionally) waterford with it.

This might be a genius strategy. Force Arcturis to claim that the Angels rule because they are better arbiters of justice, morally - then we drop the bomb that they're actively slaving AND have Ila and the other Shadow mages stand by the testimony.

We can give Waterford a chance to say that "a bloo bloo, those dirty angels forced my hand" or risk having his reputation destroyed.

It was said slave-trade is outlawed in Arland. At the least, Arcturus would have be forced to go anti-slave if the Ring City got publicly outed otherwise he'd be contradicting himself and outing himself as a conspirator.

The important thing is to go public with it so it's out of Arcturu's control.

Actually, we want to draw out some of the other players cards - even if they aren't big ones.
Lets do what you just said, but have Steward and Obis do it.

We already put Steward on the table, he delivered his origin, its out there - its time for the warbot to advise the war.
tell him to be a little reserved, but give our allies a taste of his abilities.

Mainly, stewards differences of tactics/capabilities (having an army of unsleeping magi-terminators) mis-matching with those of flesh and blood allies that need sleep and logistics.
Not in a bad way - but It will do a lot to highlight just how serious we are, when armies and capabilities of contributing nations are sized up

Because this play twinges his AMERRIIICAAA heartstrings of independance, and turns him against allies he thought were allies when they were really just stabbing him under the table

>>
<Obis, we're dying, here,> you tell him. <Give them something to chew on. The plan.>

Obis rises from his chair. "Warleader, if I may."

Vaz Grak glances at him, shrugs, and drops the chalk in a little metal slot under the maps. Obis takes a telescopic wooden pointer hanging from the large map of Venia and slides it open.

He smacks the map with the tip of the rod. The snap of wood on the stone under the map gets everyone's attention. "Gentlemen. And Ladies. Currently, the main expeditionary force of Kan-Abar is here." He indicates the region south of Evinbrook, just at the border of Arland. "They have an estimated 200 to 250 thousand soldiers, including demons. Not including, 50,000 men and mages, a formidable force all on its own. But that's four demons for every man, and that's the cornerstone of their strength. Our overall proposal is simple."

He taps the region again. "Our coordinated forces, led by their respective generals, would make an offensive strike on their position. They won't be expecting our initiative. If we can choose the battlefield, we'll do well with our combined strength."

"Even if our forces are combined," Arcturis says, leaning forward, "we may have 50 thousand soldiers. Upwards of 75 thousand, if I'm generous. We might land a strong hit, but winning in an outright attack..."

"We won't be trying to beat them there," Obis says. "Just distract them. The real battle will take place here." He smacks the rod against the city of Kan-Abar. "Nulis is responsible for summoning the demon lords, as are many other mages currently sequestered under heavy guard in the capital. Our frontal assault will draw them out, leaving the soft underbelly exposed to a strike team."

>con't
>>
>>30202553

Don't forget there's an army of demons building up at the core because of the leak

we ~need~ to do something about that TOO
>>
Arcturis rubs his beard. "That's risky. Especially if all three demon lords converge on one spot. The windburn wouldn't hold them back for long."

"Why, my lord," Obis says, "the offer is flattering. I'll have to consider that when we make our plans."

"He's speaking in hypotheticals, Prince Vin," Gerald snaps.

"Mmm, indeed. Just hypotheticals." Arcturis glances back up. "I know from experience that our power alone can't stop one demon lord, not one-for-one. Even Sandalphon would be occupied by one for a time. We'll - you would have to be careful not to overexpose yourselves. And the timing with the team headed to Kan-Abar would have to be precise, and exactingly brutal."

"All good points."

"Who is in the group headed to Kan-Abar?"

Obis folds up the wooden rod. "That's still under consideration. We haven't decided whether to act in stealth, or launch an aerial assault on the city as a distraction while the team moves in."

"I will play an important role in distraction, there," Steward says. "They are likely to have very difficult defenses. My automatons can create greater chaos at less risk. If we attack in that manner."

"Ah, from the air. You'll need airships, then. Mmm."

"Airships they won't be getting from Arland's fleet," Gerald says.

"We wouldn't think of asking from Arland more than it is capable of giving," Obis says. "I'm merely laying out the strategy."

The two men lock stares for a moment. The undercurrent of tension between the two is obvious to everyone in the room except Arcturis, who seems to be more interested in the talk of strategy than anything else.

"Not insignificant resources are being prepared," Steward says. "Many constructs are capable of powerful Earth magic. However, our greatest advantage is that we are not bound by logistical limitations. We do not sleep, or eat. We can lose limbs and continue fighting with the same intensity. We can repair ourselves without healers. While myself and my brethren so...feel...we are not as susceptible to losses of morale. I fear that we may make much better killers than people. I am glad that such actions seem unnecessary, and that the leaders of the world such as yourself have come together in cooperation."

The Flints all look a little pale. You bite your lip. That might have been a little much.

But Arcturis nods. "Alright. What about some specifics?"

"Current forces capable of deployment include myself, 2 dynamo-powered constructs, approximately 100 flight-capable constructs, approximately 300 glide-capable constructs, approximately 1,000 basic attack constructs, approximately 2,000 repair drones, and approximately 5 steelstone golems. "Five of them. Elements. That's something. And 003? What's that?"

"A secret weapon," Steward says.

>>
>>30202968
That's too much for right now. Obis danced around the issue of transport for a reason.
>>
>>30202917
Lets just get on with finding the end of that parasite.
>>
Demons form and gather in the Lady's Finger from energy spewed from the damaged section of the Core of Chaos. Archonian and Vampirian forces along with a smattering of soldiers from the other nations and a contingent of angels conduct regular raids into the canyon to clean out the demons and stop them from spreading into the world. The demons there are a known variable.
>>
>>30203052
Amen. It's high time we narrowed this down, the night is young!
>>
>>30202917
>Finally someone that just tells me what I want to know!
....

Do you think Arcturis is really tired of the Empire and their obvious bullshit already? Considering he's been dealing with them his entire lifetime?
>>
>>30202917
"Yes, my lord flint.

The truth is, I am Erebus."

Don't actually do this
>>
>>30203104
It's just like my dungoons and draguns ar pe' gees.

Is that a thing in DnD? I've never played it.

"I don't like fish. The bigger the fish the less I like it. It's a personal long term goal of mine to rid the world of all oversized fish, each one that is greater than the size of a house that is. My vengeance will be forever known as the Great & Terrible Fishstrinction of Lord Nyx. That is all."

do not say this
>>
>>30203119
Nah, I just think he likes it when people do what he says.

>>
>>30203181
I think the stock pathfinder setting features a rift in the north that demons spew out of.
>>
Without much to add, the meeting breaks up. Everyone stands up, stretching.

Arcturis looks to Donovan. "Boy. With me."

You and Donovan exchange a glance, and then he follows his fathers and brothers into another room, along with the two lords. Your own allies begin to walk away.

You already see Ila speaking with Auriel. She's certainly eager to get an edge on Waterford. You walk in their direction. "Did you inform her?"

Auriel glances at you. "She did. Leverage over Waterford could be valuable. Let's say you let me handle this one, John."

>delegate the Waterford investigation to Auriel and Ila

Why is "evil things coming from the North" a common theme in fantasy?

We can trust those two. Tell them as much. Mainly tell Ila that we trust her since she's got dat dere self-esteem problem.
>>

We've got shit to do, specifically meeting with Fang and getting to the bottom of this parasite deal. Maybe Hemmelus will tag along once Donovan is free.

SM has already said to think outside the box about the Nat 1. It won't be something we're expecting.
>>

If Shadow Master uses it to kill Flint, or any of the other main characters, I'm dropping.

I sincerely hope he'll use it in a way which advances the narrative in a satisfying way rather than just going 'lel your friends are ded'.
>>

>>
>>30203559
I don't think you're giving SM enough credit.
>>
>>30203559
Ila doesn't count as a main character.

Anymore.

Neither does Joey.
>>
>>30203588
That's the issue. Because the legitimacy of the nat 1 is so controversial (As a result of the clusterfuck surrounding the vote behind it), any usage of it which results in something going majorly wrong as opposed to a minor SNAFU will cause massive backlash.

Personally, I think that Shadow Master understands this and is just going to hang it over our heads forever to keep us tense. That would be the smart thing to do.
>>
<I think I can trust you two to handle it.> You look at Ila. <Just be careful.>

"I will be. I'll let you know as soon as I find anything."

With nothing much to do until later, you decide to head back to your room. Adavan is there, still mediating. You enter silently so as to not disturb him.

Shortly, though, there is a knock on the door. Adavan opens his eyes, then flinches when he sees you. "When did you get there?"

"A few minutes ago." You rise and open the door. It's Hemmelus. "Honored sage," you greet him.

"Hemmelus is fine, John," he says. "I suppose we have a bit of time on our hands while we wait for Donovan, then? Although, I don't believe I've met your friend, there."

Adavan rises, and nods his head. "Lien Adavan. Of Haven."

Hemmelus's mouth opens, then closes. His lips thin. "...I see you've put off your mortality."

"There were extenuating circumstances."

"That tends to be a pattern with blood magic."

"There was blood involved," Adavan says, "but of not the kind you're thinking."

"I care not for rationalizations of the unnatural."

Adavan shrugs. "I have no excuses to offer you, Great Sage. I am what I am."

"Indeed."

The brief conversation comes to a sudden end.

Hm. Adavan doesn't seem to bothered by him. I guess he expects this opinion pretty generally.

Let's just get straight to the strategy, talk about how to cover our assets, what they'll do to watch for trouble, any last minute considerations, etc.

"I asked the same thing when i first met him. Though adavan's heart is still - he has one."

Adavan felt he had to do it, Hemmelus thinks it's still inexcusable, they had their talk and can still cooperate, the end. No need to push it when they've already finished.

Let's get to discussing the parasite.
>>
>>30203649

>defend Adavans' state of being

"Hemmelus, let me defend Adavan's unlife if he refuses to do so - no humans were harmed at all in the process, only mice and rats. To answer your next question - it was only barely successful at all."

"While he may be distasteful to you, he seeks the same goal: the freedom of Donovan Flint's soul. I ask that while he assists us you offer him your full confidence."

>>
>>30203816
Humans were harmed. His friends died perfecting the process.

Adavan doesn't like that he did it, and Hemmelus doesn't want an excuse. Just move the fuck on.

It was always planned to be what it was, hence the two skeletons in his crypt being described the first time you met him. Those were his friends.

It was only a rough sketch of what it is now, of course.

Pretty much this, just let it slide.

I kinda wanna hook hemmy and addy up as history buddies.

Hemmelus would LOVE that adavan was around in the time of the elementomachy.

And adavan's testimony about how bad Magic Out Of Control gets would probably be pretty awesome to have to convince people that Pentarchs Are Bad.

You decide that Hemmelus has made his point, and that Adavan has made his, and that should probably be that.

"Adavan is a close friend of both mine and Donovan," you tell Hemmelus. "He's quite talented, as well. He'll be making sure that Fang stays on task."

"Not a bad plan. I don't trust Fang alone."

"Neither do I," Adavan says.

"By the way, Hemmelus," you say, "I was curious about your method of sight. Is there a way to learn it?"

"Well," he says, "stab your eyes to force your body to adjust and then practice feeling the mana around you for about two years without visual distractions. I'm sure it'll come to someone of your talent." He laughs. "But no, John. It took me a decade to get beyond feeling my way down hallways still half-blind. I'm almost back to normal vision, now, but people are blurs, objects hazy. I'm very sensitive to magic, but I don't think it's something I could teach to anyone."

There's a knock on the door. You can sense who it is without trouble. "Come in," you say.

>con't
>>
>>30204000

holy shit really?
>>
Donovan walks in. He blinks at the gathered crowd. "Oh. Well. Hemmelus. I wasn't expecting to see you down here."

"Donovan," he says, "John informed me of your condition, earlier. Obviously I'll be participating in eradicating your little problem."

"...oh." And that's all Donovan can manage before he looks at the floor. "Thank you."

"It will be a pleasure that I relish. What did Arcturis want with you?"

"More information about Steward, and what he thought our military capabilities were. More about Fang's, as well. I don't really know all that much, honestly. But what he was really after was how we were able to get to Xile."

"What did you tell him?"

"That the exact method was John's to divulge," Donovan says. He glances at you. "I thought that was appropriate, considering you...discovered it, first."

You're very glad that Donovan caught himself before telling Hemmelus that you personally made an airship capable of ignoring the Skysever.

"Right."

And then another presence begins to come your way. Fang. No one misses it. You all wait in silence.

The somewhat-compressed orb of spirit that is the Archmage opens the door without lifting a finger. He takes you all in. "Well, let's move."

--------
--------

The Archmage acquired a map of the city. You patrol the outside of Arland in a group, first heading toward the silent hills. You can Fang both confer on the direction the tail is heading, and he draws a line through the map, from where you stand, through the city and beyond.

You then keep walking until you're on the edge of the river in Dryfeld. He draws a second line through the first.

"That gives us a point right now," Hemmelus says.

"Let's take the third for accuracy," Fang says. "I don't want to get this wrong."

>con't
>>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1ZydcSgacM

You walk through the castle town. The moment you've been waiting for is coming - casually waltzing up to you. One more line. You try to sneak a look at Fang's map, but he's got it rolled up. You try to sense the other end of the Shel'kath, but that obscuring cloud hangs around Donovan like a fog.

Eventually, you reach the north end of the Middling. Fang draws the final line. Everyone huddles around the map.

"The cathedral," Fang says.

"...in the cathedral?" Donovan asks. "That doesn't make any sense. Hemmelus would have sensed something."

"No," he says. "I could never sense the tail it has, like these two can. It stands to reason the other end was well-hidden."

"Well, it's not like it's sitting in the middle of the damn chapel!"

"Calm down," Hemmelus says. He taps Donovan on the forehead. "You're getting worked up."

"...sorry."

"The lines weren't straight," Fang says. "They dipped down. They don't converge on the cathedral. They converge under it. Someone, or something, is down there."

Hemmy. I have a feeling his abilities will be of the greatest use, and it is an Arlandian Cathedral after all. With his permission we don't have to risk getting caught by someone we shouldn't, while he can either stay inside as backup as we advance further below into the depths...

"Alright," Donovan says. "Good luck."

"Good luck."

"Good luck."

"Get going," Fang says. "The suspense is killing me."

Everyone stares at him for a moment.

"It's like you ingrates have never heard of a pun before."

"...alright. I'll be back soon."

You head for the cathedral in the castle town.

-------
-------

By this time, its four or five hours after sunset. There's a few people here and there on the streets, but most are asleep. You keep to the shadows. The moon isn't out; there's no light to fight. An easy night for you.

There's a wide plaza in front of the cathedral, paved with cobblestone, like the rest of the castle town. Tall official-looking buildings wall off the other ends. A bell tower, separate from the church, stands tall in the northeast corner. The cathedral itself is marked by great spires and a steeply sloped roof. A group of guards is huddled near the base of the belltower, warming their hands against the winter chill.

You hear a few voices from a nearby street. The guards perk up and turn in that direction.

As an aside, we usually use shadowmeld at most of ten mana.

How overpowered would our stealth become if we used 40 or more mana for our shadowmeld? Or if we used a full mana shadowmeld and then just touched a mana pool to regen energy?
>>
>>30204941

There are decreasing returns on Shadowmeld after 10 mana, but the maximized bonus is still much greater than just the base 10. I assume that because it gives you the most bang for your buck. That and Compress together are plenty, let me tell you. Compress especially seems to be underestimated, but the great weakness is that you are vulnerable if discovered.

No time to see who it is. You slip across the plaza, and Ink under the heavy wooden doors of the cathedral.

Wooden pews line the grand nave. Mighty crossbeams support an arched stone ceiling several stories above your head. The soft quiet of the space reminds you of a library.

A lone light-mage is replacing candles in one of the four alcoves behind the altar.

At the end of the nave, there seems to be a hall leading further into the church on the left.

What do you do?

>investigate the altar
>hide in the shadow of the light mage
>continue deeper into the church
>>
>>30204991
So what you're saying is if we have to scout the kan-abar lines via the manaport ability to the castle in jacobs field we can totally pour our full mana into shadowmeld and then regen it before sneaking behind a lord of d and fucking them up the ass, yea?

You decide to explore deeper into the church. The mage at the alcove doesn't notice your passing. You note the carving of a dragon resting in that same alcove - maybe Aeolus?

You come to another room, which splits off into several other chambers. On the right is a small closet-like room holding robes and lined with cabinets. Past it is a wood door.

Directly in front of you are double doors leading to what looks like more of a meeting hall. Tables are neatly arranged, and the chairs are set upside down on top of them.

To your left is a stairwell, going both up and down.

You hear a heavy thump behind you. Voices. Did someone else come into the cathedral?

>go into the meeting hall

Let's think about this rationally here.

If this is what I think it is, this is seriously incriminating stuff. Incriminating enough that if it got out, it would throw Arcturis' entire rulership into question - I'm talking open revolt, civil war. The populace loves Donovan, what happens if they find out that Arcturis has been conspiring to destroy him his entire life?

They won't be able to bury this chamber without raising suspicion. They can't sweep this under the rug. Our allies trust us enough that they would believe this if we told them.

Now, here's my question - Arcturis is not a stupid man. Surely he knows that Fang would be able to see the Shel'kath? Surely he knows, from the fact that Donovan is no longer being afflicted by it, that it has been acted on?

So why, knowing both of those facts, would he come here willingly?
>>

Turns out our flint is the suppressed second coming of the light god.
>>
Rolled 95

>>30205543
>>
>>30205657

I doubt he knows that Fang could pinpoint the Shel'Kath and I very much doubt that he understands the specifics of how it works.

Also, he may not know that Donovan's curse is suppressed - yes, Donovan's a badass now, but he may not have the means to check out why.
>>
You jump down the stairs. Matthel and Arcturis are already a flight down. Arcturis is stomping along like a man on a mission. Matthel is practically jogging to keep up.

You stay a flight above them, managing to catch some of their conversation.

"Donovan...know about the..."

"He's changed, now. He's different. He isn't the - "

"But the spell is almost - "

"Enough! He's more valuable if we...half-baked plan that isn't...Kanians breathing down our necks! I've awaited long enough!"

They turn a corner at the bottom of the stairs. You hear a door open and slam shut. Their voices are muffled and drift off quickly.

You reach the bottom flight. A few doors present themselves. You check the first, see their retreating forms in a dark tunnel, and then slip under it after them.

The stone here is damp and slick, like the stone in your quarters at the castle. You're deep in the rock of the island. A small light bobs ahead of you, outlining the silhouettes of the two men. Likely a candle, or a spell.

You follow them, and they turn a corner, and more tunnels open up in four different directions. Some wider, arched; others smaller, cramped. It's like a maze down here.

You follow along from a safe distance, keeping out of the light. They don't speak - apparently Arcturis's last shout ended the conversation. You try to memorize the turns. Left. Left. Right. Left.

And then they stop. Arcturis prods at the wall. You feel a flash of Wind. Stone begins to grate on stone. A hidden passage opens in the tunnel. They step through.

"Where's the lever?"

"Father, listen to reason."

"Where is the elements-damned lever, Matthel?"

What do you do?

Put yourself in his shoes. A son who you know to be cursed with clumsiness is suddenly incredibly graceful.

Occam's Razor. The curse has been tampered with. Which has a good chance of meaning that somebody close to Donovan knows about it.

Grave Silence works all the fucking time. Wisp has all of our passive bonuses in stealth. It has Silence.

Furhtermore, Spirit is a ethereal type over a Shadow type, this means while it's more stealthy than a ghost, it isn't more stealthy than a Shadow type summon(which has all of our stealth bonuses). Also Wisp is already summoned while we'd have to risk detection summing a Spirit.

Wisp shares our stealth bonuses (or just Magical stealth, maybe? Either way, that's mostly what it needs.), and is our only way of getting the information we currently have back to the people who need to know while still pursuing.

If there was a Mana Pool we had access to in Arland, we could've hidden a portal somewhere in the catacombs, returned to Haven, manaported to Arland and told them in person, then manaported back to Haven and returned via portal before closing it.

Absurdly risky if they notice the portal, since it lets them walk right into a relatively underprotected Haven, but still.

What's the magical signature of our portals feel like? Is it an aura independent of the destination, or will they be able to detect presences on the other side rather than feeling the portal itself? Or both somehow?

You send Wisp back. <Let them know what we've seen and heard. Make sure they don't take needed risks. Go!>

>mana: 42/53

You dart forward, a tiny black flicker. In an instant, you're around the corner. The two men stand in a cramped space, a steel box that is sitting inside the compartment. They stare at each other, both gazes fierce as a winter gale.

You duck in past their feet and tuck yourself into a corner.

"...it's in the corner, above your head."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oj8CH3dwBKA

Arcturis looks up, and pulls a small metal latch down from the ceiling. The stone opening slides shut. The tiny room is plunged into darkness.

The metal walls shudder, and then you feel a light sensation, as if you're moving down. No - you are moving down.

It's silent, but for the regular grinding as the box trundles its way along the track. You're going deeper than the bedrock of Dobshire...

Lights flicker. The metal box isn't totally sealed - small holes dot the ceiling. Light's filtering in. But aren't you underground?

Magic assaults your senses.

It's like nothing you've ever felt before. An incredible wellspring of power lays below you, as if you passed some barrier holding it in, revealing it all at once. Every element is represented. Every element.

The box grinds to a squeaky halt. Arcturis fumbles with a latch on the front, then opens it. Light streams in.

Before you is a cavern, roughly shaped as a cylinder. The walls are high, and slick with water. Stalactites hands from the ceiling in thick clusters. You hear the rushing sound of water nearby.

You don't really pay the cavern much attention. You're rather fixated on the thing in front of you.

>con't
>>
>>30206373
No man, we're in his game, we're ALL in his game.

and it hasn't even begun.
>>
There's a sigil on the ground - a spell sigil. You've seen them before, when mages were casting more complex spells, like the sun call. But the sun call was just big, powerful. This...this labyrinthine nest of obscure symbols and numbers, swirling around eight symmetrical points brimming with power, is almost art. It would be incredibly beautiful, if it wasn't so terrifying.

Sitting cross-legged in the center of the blazing ring of light is a figure clad in steel from head to toe. It almost seems as if he's made from solid steel, polished so bright as to reflect the cavern around him.

Behind him, against the far wall, is a great silver mirror, wrapped in ivory. While somewhat shiny, it shows no reflection.

"Metatron." Arcturis says. "I want to see the Most High. Now."

"...Arcturis." The metal figure opens its eyes. "I wasn't expecting you."

What do you do?

You remain absolutely still.

"No, I wouldn't think so," Arcturis says. "Contact the Most High, now."

"Lord Flint," Metatron says quietly, "it's past midnight."

"I don't give a damn what time it is, I've had enough! Contact him, now!"

Metatron stands. At seven feet tall, he dwarfs even the stalwart Flints. "What exactly is the problem?"

"...he wants to stop this," Matthel says. "I tried to reason with him, Highest."

"Why?" Metatron asks. "We are weeks - maybe days away. What could possibly possess you to have second thoughts?"

"Because earlier today, I didn't know it stole half my son's life!"

Metatron looks at Matthel. "...you told him."

Matthel shakes his head. "He...with Donovan around, I -"

"I figured it out myself," Arcturis says. "You told me this spell wouldn't hurt him. The Most High swore on the graves of the angels who had died fighting Erebus that it would just take his magic. Nothing more! Not his very fucking ability to form a straight sentence! I will not stand for it! Not my flesh and blood, Metatron!

"We lied to you," Metatron says. "But you know what this spell is going to do. You know it is necessary."

"THEN WE SHOULD HAVE FOUND SOMEONE ELSE! I TOLD SANDALPHON 50 YEARS AGO THAT HIS REACH STOPPED AT THE BORDER OF ARLAND, AND I WILL SEE HIS WORD FULFILLED, OR SO HELP ME GOD I'LL THROW IN WITH ARCHON!"

"Lord Flint. Please, lower your voice." Metatron's tone is still quiet, gentle. "I will contact the Most High."

Metatron turns toward the mirror.

We also want to get out of direct line of sight with the mirror, since it's obviously the communication device and Sandalphon has proven pretty adept at noticing us in the past.

Whether that's in the water or not doesn't matter so much to me.

We just told it to let them know what we saw and heard, which was pretty definitely Arcturis wanting to stop -something- as of yet unknown and Matthel attempting to talk him out of undertaking rash action.

CURSE YOU
>>
You flit across the room.

Your senses didn't betray you - there's a river on one side of the cavern, just exposed above the ground. You slip into it, keeping a limb on the stone to hold yourself in place. There's a firm current, but not anything you couldn't swim against.

They didn't notice you at all. Metatron stands before the mirror, his palms out.

Arcturis taps a flint on the stone. "Tonight!" His voice echoes around the room.

"He was probably sleeping," Metatron says. He glances over his shoulder, and his eyes flash red. "Moreover, there are limits even to my patience, Lord Flint. The Most High is not at your beck and call. But I sympathize with your situation, and so here I stand, calling upon him. Please control yourself."

Arcturis settles on his feet and folds his arms. Metatron turns back to the mirror.

Luckily, the exchange gives you more than enough time to Analyze the room, and its occupant. Metatron is Light - as are all the angels - and Fire. Like Lucifer, he has a strong secondary element. More interesting, though, is that metal armor, almost like a second skin. You doubt he's as quick as Lucifer, but he's probably a lot sturdier. Taking him on alone would be an extremely dangerous prospect...

The spell, itself, seems to speak to you. Eight elements. All eight. Every shade of Chaos. And then you see it - the other end of the shel'kath, embedded in the spell.

They're collecting Donovan's power to make this thing work. You can only conclude that seven other mages have already had their turn...

And you can tell that this is a summoning spell. It's THE summoning spell. But what it intends to summon...that, you can only guess at.

The mirror begins to waver.

Sandalphon's visage appears within the ivory boarders. "Metatron. I hope you - ah. The Lords Flint."

"Most High," Arcturis growls. "You lied to me."

"He is aware," Metatron says, "that you Donovan's life has been...effected...by the shel'kath."

"And?"

"And." Arcturis clenches his fists. "And?! You said he would be unharmed!"

"Is he living, and breathing?" Sandalphon says. "Has he not found love with that whore traitor?"

Metatron blinks. "Most High. Auriel - "

"Was a failure before Hyperion blessed her, and was weak-willed panderer to public opinion after he blessed her. What he saw in her I do not know, but I respected her stature because Hyperion's judgement lies above ours. But now that she has shown her true colors, we will deal with her in time." He looks at Arcturis. "What do you want from me, Lord Flint? It is late."

"We find another mage, tomorrow," Arcturis says. "I will not have my son bound by this thing any further. Or I'll join in with Archon, Sandalphon, and I swear by the elements, I am not bluffing."

"Arcturis," Sandalphon says, "we are about to summon the Lord of Light back from the Core of Chaos. Do not test me."

"I'm not testing you," Arcturis says. "I'm telling you!"

"You don't have a choice."

"What?! You will not - after lying to me for decades, I will not allow - "

"Half your nobles would side with me," Sandalphon says. "The Black Lady has been managed. I will arrive in Arland tomorrow. Do not touch the spell. If you do, I will have no choice but to conclude that you have turned against Hyperion Himself, and you may rail your complaints against the bars of the prison in Nelmar."

You were not there when I spared your grandfather Yi Fang's wrath so that Arland might have its day. We would not be having this conversation had my healers not saved your life when you were a child. I will not be denied the return of the Lord of Light, I will not have the masterstroke that I and my angels have worked on for CENTURIES, RUINED, BECAUSE IN YOUR OLD AGE YOU HAVE A FEW GUILTY MISGIVINGS!"

"...is what has happened to Donovan permanent?"

"Grow a damn spine." His visage vanishes. Arcturis is left there, staring at his feet.

"Father," Matthel says, "I'm sorry."

"Sorry." Arcturis turns to his son. "That's why you defended him. You stuck with him. You knew. You felt guilty. Did you ever truly love your brother at all?"

In that moment, Matthel looks so hurt that you almost feel bad for him.

Almost.

"...I love Donovan," Matthel says. "But if he knew..."

"Don't try to fool yourself. If he knew, he'd still be against it."

"Gentlemen," Metatron says. "You'd best get some sleep. I have a spell to maintain. Tomorrow is sure to be a tumultuous day."

I was kind of worried about this, but it seems incredibly unlikely that they've actually done something as critical as launching a covert military action against the head of their main opposing faction with their 'masterstroke' so close to completion.

I'm pretty sure he just means that he thinks public opinion is just so far against her that she's going to be a non-factor.

Which, of course, remains to be seen. But Sandalphon has been pretty good at being wrong about basically everything up until this point, so hey.

Here's my take on our options.

First: We have to inform the others that the Arty didn't know about the effects, but Matthel did, (and probably only defended Flint because he felt guilty but we don't need to tell him that). Also, tell Adavan and Flint that they plan to summon Hyperion with it, since they already know that's bad news.

Second: I'd say we negotiate with the king now, preferably without Matthel around, so tell the others to back off and tail the king until he's alone, confront him with Flint. Tell him that we tailed him because we knew about the parasite and wanted to remove it, not because we wanted to fuck the alliance. Since he's already pissed at the angels, tell him what we know about them and why they need to be stopped. Maybe also explain the nature of magic, order, chaos, and why Hyperion is bad news. Hopefully we can keep things under wraps and still pull off negotiations for the alliance.

Finally, we need to decide if we want to deal with the spell tonight or wait a few days to secure the alliance. Since Sandals is coming tomorrow, he could present an obstacle, but if we get Arland's support we might be able to have some more people giving us support against the Terminator down there.

Ah, true fanship, wanting the best for those who bring you joy and wish with all your being anything that would stop that fails
>>
>>30208038
Probably. I want to discuss things with Arty first regardless, even if just to say "Yo, Flint's my bro, angels are actually evil, I still want this alliance to go down so we can stand against the demons and Ring City but I'm fucking this spell up regardless so later."

>>30208096
Except this guy has a much better way of approaching it and it doesn't involve telling him that he was followed. Someone copy this post for the next thread.
>>
>>30208006
Actually, we should just destroy the spell tonight, with Fang's help, and then tomorrow, tell the king that the spell was destroyed and Sandalphon will blame him when he finds out. That way the king will be forced to side with us regardless, because he will need protection from Sandalphon.
>>
>>30207966
We just have to barter with him.

>"If you take off your mask, I'll take off mine."
>He removes his helmet, we revert to a familiar shadowy blob.
><Hey. Been a while. How's the institutionalized kidnapping and slavery of citizens of allied nations "for their own good" been treating you?>

><And while you're at it, would you mind getting rid of that sneaky demon on my ol' pal Donovan? He's a pretty powerful light mage, y'know, and it looks like you've been running a little low on Highests lately. Maybe let some new blood try and fill the power vacuum.>

><I mean, it's not like it could be any worse than most of the snacks you had working for you before.>

>>30208096
Nothing too exciting. There was a brief resurfacing or another copycat, but I want to believe during SM IS KILL holiday downtime, but it just didn't feel the same, y'know?
>>
>>30208096
>What happened in princess guard?
Archelon's trip was #goober

I think you can see how that information could be used.
>>
>>30208059
Well, if theres one thing /tg/ is, its patient.
I know they'd be willing to wait. I mean what the fuck man. 4 quests? Wtf
Thats awesome and all. But seriously man. Go do your IRL thangs, /tg/ will wait.
On another note, if you do get arouns to those quests, will you change your trip? I remember you said you have a tendancy of doing that. I'd honestly like you not to. Yes it would spawn some high level expextancy, but we won't judge.

>9 Lives Quest

Slightly lighter scholomance with a groundhog's day twist.

>>30208108

I don't, though I've heard many excellent things. But I also know it's not quite the same.

I also fell in love with SAO, and then ended up totally disgusted by that shitbag duel-wielding faggot of a protagonist. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

>>30208149

I'm starting to swing back the other way on changing my trip. I'm pretty sure I'll keep it.
>>
>>30208206
>I don't, though I've heard many excellent things. But I also know it's not quite the same.

I've heard it described as accel world + kamen rider with a splash of dating sim.
Its pretty apt, and also as ridiculously well written as your stuff is. Mofo's got interesting, sociable characters down pat. Try reading through the archives someday, you might like it.
>>
>>30208006

we should just destroy the spell outright so we force Arcturis's hand, he knows what sandlethong will do to his family and Arland if his precious Light God summoning spell gets blown the fuck out.

and waiting until Sandlethong is at the door is the worst idea, we need to do this TONIGHT so he can not interfere and stop us.
>>
So is the necklace or whatever that Fang put on Donovan to suppress the parasite delaying the spell's completion? And if so by how much?
>>
>>30208233

I really have to wait until I'm not writing a quest to read one on an archive binge. SQ is very fun, but it's also exhausting. After absorbing and processing and churning in this format, I have to get out and do other things, you know?

Someday, though. I always hear about it in /qtg/, it sounds like a really cool quest.
>>
>>30208206
>I also fell in love with SAO, and then ended up totally disgusted by that shitbag duel-wielding faggot of a protagonist. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
Holy shit. Thats the exact same reason why I got put off by it as well.

>I'm starting to swing back the other way on changing my trip. I'm pretty sure I'll keep it.
I'm honestly glad to hear this. I know its something small. But it will make a world of differance.
Will you ever feel comfy enough to tell us your previous one? or by any chance, the quests?
>>
>>30208280
>Will you ever feel comfy enough to tell us your previous one? or by any chance, the quests?

I don't understand. What are you asking?

And yeah, most people got sick of SAO because of the gary stu disease. I think the setting's great.
>>
So I was reading through the Timeline pastebin, the part with Metatron and the fire mage.

Did the demon lord mess with the Nether connection around Vellik's castle? Was that how he destroyed Auriel's wings?
>>
>>30208255
The thing about threats is that you can't turn around and say "just kidding let's be nice." If you think we should do this tonight, fine, but at least try negotiating with him or do what >>30208096 said first. If he refuses to cooperate, then we can still pull the "they'll blame it on you, you have no choice" on them.

>>30208206
>I also fell in love with SAO, and then ended up totally disgusted by that shitbag duel-wielding faggot of a protagonist. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
You and all of /a/, SM.
If you care about "players in an MMO," Log Horizon is currently airing, except instead of "durr if u die in gam u die in real" which makes it no different than fluffed up fantasy, in Log Horizon the game literally becomes reality somehow, and it does interesting things with game mechanics. (Including guilds trapping new players in the guild rooms to get newbie boost items (and also to do nasty things, but the show airs on an educational network so the nonPG stuff is only in the novels.))
>>
>>30208206
>totally disgusted by that shitbag duel-wielding faggot of a protagonist
Give Log Horizon a shot. Same trapped in an mmo premise, but more focus on world building and character interactions with the world they now occupy. The main protagonist is also a support character rather than some faggot sword god. Slow start, but when it gets its legs it really takes off
>>
>>30208307
I think he was asking what were the quests you QMed for in the past.

Between Edgy Quest and Accel World Quest I'ld prefer Accel World because it needs some serious worldbuilding skills from the QM to pull it off, skill that I believe you have.
>>
>>30208352

A warning SM, these guys aren't actually telling you the most interesting thing about it, so I won't spoil anything. But just so you know, there's some stuff that you should expect. Can't really tell ya though.

The first and only other quest I've QMed was a post-apocalyptic scenario with zombies. It was very crunchy, didn't really take off. And then I became more interested in reading and participating in Gargoyle Quest than running my own quest, and dropped it.

Oh yeah, and the creator of Log Horizon said that he didn't mind non-japs pirating it as long as they support it if it ever becomes localized.

And he visited /a/.

He's pretty great.

I'd link you the archived thread but that also contains some spoilers.

>all that drama in the /qtg/

There's been a lot of times I've been tempted to go on the IRC and hang out with the other QMs, just to make friends and exchange ideas. But not at that price.

Is Angelic is a guy or a girl? I can't figure it out for the life of me.

my nigga, shame it just died and never came back, and it was just at a realy intresting part where he learns his name and goes mad. what a shame

>There's been a lot of times I've been tempted to go on the IRC and hang out with the other QMs, just to make friends and exchange ideas. But not at that price.

Haha!

Last QTG a time or two ago someone said that you and Exabyte and one other (it may have been the joker guy actually) and plot evil genius things in a secret volcano lair together, just to see what amazing things pop out of your plotting.
Exa was actually there, posting anon, so if you're tempted to do that.... speak up next QTG actaully.
>>
>>30208478
I assume no one knows, because people tend to refer to angelic as he/she/it/moe
>>
>>30208478
>>30208498
No they aren't.
>>
>>30208503
>I know you do it all the time SM and I have no idea how your soul isn't as black as mine.

Do you really want to know?

No, seriously, you don't.

It's the same reason that I can tell old women that their medicare doesn't cover their prescription and that it costs $250 in cash that they don't have and then get up the next day and do it again.

>>30208505

I really wish I had a secret volcano lair to invite other QMs to so we could hang out and plot evil things. I want to spin around in a high-backed leather chair with my fingers steepled in front of me.

"I've been expecting you..."

So many anons in this thread living in the database, I just wanna DATABASE DATABASE JUST SAY WOW WOW WOW WOW them all.

Look, uh, i can't buy a volcano lair, but I could show you how to set up an irc channel that other people can't see/join if you invite them.
>>
>>30208574

That's tough, really tough. You're right I didn't want to know.
>>
>>30208599

>>
>>30208478
It's really not as terrible as it's made out to be. It's mostly people just fucking around talking about things. Like almost every other IRC in existence.

Even the obsessive circlejerky shit is mostly just the same deal as /qtg/ posting. If you don't weigh in on the topics you think are shitty, you don't get talked about in conjunction with those topics.

That said, nothing against trying to keep up the patented SM mystique or whatever it is that has that one dude keep asking if he can break into your house and make you waffles and dust your shelves and sniff the soap you use and snuggle with you at night while you're unsuspecting.

I'm mostly just saying if you think it might be fun, it couldn't hurt to stop by and say hi.

That was you, wasn't it?

>>30208637
>I'm mostly just saying if you think it might be fun, it couldn't hurt to stop by and say hi.

That being said, It'd be nice to e-shake SM's hand. I mostly avoid the main chat, but I'm active in some other games and rps on that server, and its not entirely a cesspit actually. Some genuinely cool people there if you venture past the front door.
I like to think of them as the server's bouncers.
>>
>>30208614

I appreciate the offer, maybe in the future.

>>30208637
>I'm mostly just saying if you think it might be fun, it couldn't hurt to stop by and say hi.
>>30208666

I'd like to shake your hand as well.

Sometime, for sure.

But I'm going to bed before I get involved and post an angry rant on the /qtg/. See you all tomorrow night.
>>
>>30208666
>That was you, wasn't it?
Nope, though I can see why you might think that based on the clearly well-thought-out list of increasingly creepy things.
>>
>>30208688

Goodnight then. Two SQ's in as many days? You're too kind
I'll try and remember irc things post-thread, if i'm around.

Sleep well, shadow master
>>
