After the thread ended, I was thinking some more about Ned's sheet, and I realised it would only take another 20xp to push Rapport and Diplomacy up to 6 dots each. Since we have it spare, and they're pretty important skills for wheeling and dealing, they'd be a good investment.

Also, a query: Does Secret Pressure Point Technique prevent the use of Mega Attributes and Enhancements, as well as Quantum Powers?

I -think- you cant normally push a skill to 6+. There's a special rule in a fan book to do it, if I remember right.

I know you can do it as a starting character if you take the right traits and advantages, but only to raise a skill to 6, and no further.

There isin't any hard rule I can remember saying you CANT raise a skill to 6+, either, but I have never seen a NPC stat block with 6+ on any skill.

Hey Ronan. You weren't here yesterday, so I don't know if you know, but we realised that Ned was sitting on a reservoir of XP (like 200+) so we spent some, although we won't see the actual benefits until time has passed in the story.

Ned is learning Tai Chi and Qui Meng, plus a special Pressure Point technique to shut down other Nova's powers. He's also raising his Quantum to 3, Mega Wits and Mega Manip up to 4, and taking a point of Mega Int.

And we're not even halfway through.

Any thoughts on what's a good expenditure? Aside from Mental Defence/Mental Immunity

By the way I updated his sheet. May still have some errors but should be clearer now.

Still havent added his enhancements, tho.

Also, bought off Ami's forcefield's huge weakness so she doesnt has to burn through her quantum each and every time. Now it works normally.

And, what I wasted so much time on and got me distracted, was thinking of a way to make choosing powers and such during fights, easier.

This is what I came up with, what do you think? I was looking for a template for the actual fighters, but couldnt find anything I liked so was trying to make one

Bah I thought I posted Ned's sheet. It still has some work to be ready, tho. Like the enhancements. Also, remember that when you get your first point in a mega attribute, it comes with a free enhancement, which is how we got one for Mega Wits.

The max number of enhancements in any attribute you can have is your mega attribute value for that particular attribute.

This means we still need to choose a few more free ones.

New enhancements past the first one cost 3 exp each.

We have Mega Int 1 coming down the pipe to go with Medicine (which is the skill that Secret Pressure Point runs off)

Now Ned has Quantum 3, he can do more stuff. I'm thinking that, rather than going to Powers route, more Enhancements is the way to go (keeping the idea of Ned becoming the best businessman he can be, via metahuman means)

I say this in no small part because I just checked the Wiki, and good lord, there are some fun-sounding options

Mega Wits

>Razor Wit: You can hurt someone's confidence so badly that they perform badly

Going full-on Paul Heyman/Bobby The Brain Heenan, this would let Ned cut promos on his fighters' opponents to nobble them

>Human Nature: You can figure out another person's deep modivations

Pairs nicely with Natural Empath

>Synergy: You become the lynchpin of a particular group (Has Errata)[4]

How does this one work? It sounds good

>Lie Detector: You can tell if someone is intentionally lying to you

Surely an essential choice for a businessman?

Mega Manip: Pretty sure we already had Persuader

Mega Charisma:

Any or all of these would be great for managing our stable and the band

Well the main reason I chose Analyse Weakness is that it could be used both in business and in combat, finding out the weakness of a fighting style another Nova uses, an exploit or loophole in a contract we can use to our advantage, any flaws in the merchandise we produce, ect,

Really the reason I was worried about his low Quantum was because I figured we'd be using it pretty much non-stop, since it has so many uses.

Not only does Natural Empath + Human Nature pretty much do the same thing, but Lie Detector encourages our foes to act like some shit you're see in Dune or something.

All three of the Mega Charisma sound useful.

nah, we have a special ability that allows us to take an extra dot. There is another similar ability in the Adventure! Core rulebook which apparently stacks.
That said the additional things I want are:
Non-Powers: Mega Appearance, Seduction (I think it would be funny to have)
Powers: More mental shielding, empathic manipulation, and maybe luck

In this example I I used the MTG template since its the one I am the most familiar with in the TCG family/community.

On the left edge of the card you can see the Quantum Cost of the power, represented by 2 red mana symbols to show it costs 2 Quantum Points to activate. Red Mana = Quantum Points seemed good eo me.

Im using a red background for active, aggressive powers and enhancements, and green for passive ones.

If we have points to burn, maybe some more physical Attributes would be worth it.. More Dex and Stamina? Or going the whole hog and getting Ned a power? Until Node Reconfiguration is an option, we've maxed out Ned's business related skills already

The drive to the Watanabe Quantum Labs is slow due to traffic, but as usual, the personnel in the building itself are polite and atent, and quickly invite you in.

Watanabe Kenji, the owner, is not present in the building right now.

You pass into the laboratories as such, and find Okaba in a specially built wind tunnel, where he is trying to fly against a hurricane wind with a parachute open behind him to push him back.

He is obviously having a hard time, but stays in the exact spot without budging a inch. You announce yor presence through a mic, and the technicians stop the wind tunnel slowly so he can come out and talk to you.

Okaba: "Ah, mister Salter, here to check on me?"

Ned: "Well, yes, you know I like keeping track on the wellbeing of all of my people."

Okaba explains how he's been working on his strenght and endurance, rather than mere speed. The technicians say he could probably learn to create an area blast similar to a shockwave around wherever he is, with some more constant work.

Do you encourage him to use physical or special attacks? Right now he has a form of Quantum Blast on which he "shoots" explosive feathers. He could upgrade it to shoot several feathers at the same time, gaining the "strafing" ability, essentially working like an automated minigun bathing an area with bullets. Would give him a good attack bonus.

Or should he do more physical attacks? he's handsome and muscular looking, and many of his fans are females who simply want to watch him pummel other guys in the ring.

I guess it depends.If he's fighting a melee specialist like Brass, playing the distance game works (float like a butterfly) but if he's outmatched at range, closing the gap is the way to win.

The more I think about it, the more fun we could have making his wings into Quantum Weapons. You know the whole thing about a swan's wings being powerful enough to break a man's arm? We go for the XWF equivalent of that

Hmm, I say go with the feathers, most of our fighters work in close, and having another fighter use more ranged attacks will have bring some diversity, as well as fit with his whole theme.

For melee, I was thinking of quantum weaponing him a 'broadsword' as well as using Quantum Conversion in said sword to grant fire, refluffed as a searing light, to fit with his theme.

Sorry, just got back from dealing with snow (sadly there will be more untimely disappearances, we're supposedly getting over a foot today) and had a thought. Instead of fire why don't we go with electricity for his element? That way he isn't stepping on Ami's portfolio, and we can work thunderbird themes into his marketing. Electricity would probably also be a bit more sublptle/useful for his espionage gig.

I was thinking more like an episodic documentary. So leave a crew embedded with her, have a second unit to do interviews and canned footage (canned might be the wrong word, I mean photography of venues, equipment etc.) and then ether release the entire season at once on the net, or release an episode a month or so. Just try to make it seem real but with some kind of a narrative to follow.

I like that idea.
First two episodes are just Euphry painting the apartment, the neighbors, the filming crew and the town in red.
Third episode is Ned talking to her about joining the XWF (silver? she's really not tailored as a fighter at all, violent as she is, she's still quite "girly" you know?). I think Silver Division could use the huge popularity boost she would give it.
The other episodes... I dunno, I cant see beyond 3 months into the future, cut me some slack and give ideas yourself, would you?

Well, when we are about to start figthing again I'll post the updated sheets. Which reminds me I need to update Brass now if we want to start fighting with him soon. I should also make his cards. I really liked this card idea. It really helped (me at least) to conceptualize the best possible fighting style/combos for Ami.

Tackle/punch -> clinch/hold (use special clinch or hold of course, but having the clinch/hold cards around really helps since all the special ones make reference to them)

Oh, did you know the surface of the sun is "only" 5.000 degrees, but the area around 100 kilometers high is 200 times hotter, sending the laws of thermodinamics to fuck themselves because the sun and the empty space around it are the only case where the thing being heated is hotter than the thing heating it up? thermodinamics don't (other than for the sun) work that way
