Looks like there's eight of them in total around us, but I dunno how many more are in the room. I can see them surrounding another group of people on the other end of the room, but it's not like we're really in a position to be helping them right now.

Or WE have to, at least. Reach weapons get way less effective once they've closed to a typical melee range, so it's better to do what we can with our skillset before.

The fact that they're advancing slowly and waiting for an opening means we shouldn't really rush in, though. We have a safe way to make them make the first move by forcing them to try and answer the problem posed by our polearm or die. From there it should be safer to act based on how they choose to respond to that.

We are not actually free to make our own decisions here, or to act within the sensibilities of established character. For example, if our choices were based on actual narrative structure, there would have never been a 'Kiss Luci' option. Arguing 'but we are free to choose whatever path we want, even if it conflicts with previous statements or goes against the established character!' would be a legitimate response, but if that were the case, why haven't we seen a 'Stab Celestino/Thierri' option in our dialogues yet? That too flies in the face of established characterization and the narrative flow. But we don't get that as an option because it's not the path that Arch wants us to go down.

In other words, we never had a choice or say in whether or not Luci was going to be a route. Even if we'd gone against his wedged in 'Kiss Luci' option, the immediate next moment we'd see her it'd be there again. And again. And again. Constantly badgering us to take it until we caved in. Or caved Luci's skull in. Except we can't cave her skull in, because that isn't an option we can have.
