Yesterday you finished clearing out the “Bronze Tower” ruin here in the Schlaf Islands, you defeated a Hanmuru Doll and found the keys to unlock a large vault. Instead of finding a nice big Refractor like you hoped you would you instead found a strange console that seemed to use the strange pendant your mother gave you before disappearing all those years ago.

You believe the three tower like ruins are the key to opening a bigger, never before seen ruin in this area. You have two more towers to go through and you can’t wait to get started! However Cruiser is working on your new armor and the waterproofing parts for your buster gun. It’ll take about a week to finish them and you aren’t all that keen about going Digging without some better protection this time.

It’s been a day since your last Dig and you just finished up some shopping and resupplying, you’ve lots of time in the day and 4 more days ahead of you to do whatever you want. What do you wish to do?

>[A] Go see if Cruiser needs any help at the Garage.

>[B] Try to find Ira, see what she’s doing.

>[C] Do some more shopping! You thought of something you want to buy!

>[D] Go to the Mayor’s office, investigate how you can claim the discovery of a new Reaverbot type.

We need to find out more about those ruins. Might as well ask the Mayor to help us in that.
>>

Alright, lads, no griping and complaining over minor bullshit this time. Many of us, myself included, totally overreacted last thread. Let's just trust that Crosswire knows what he's doing when he sets up a joke, okay? We're going to have a nice, fun thread without any bickering.

That said:
>[D] Go to the Mayor’s office, investigate how you can claim the discovery of a new Reaverbot type.
Not so much for the glory of discovering something new as getting it properly logged for other Diggers. We've come as far as we have thanks to past Diggers relaying valuable information on Reaverbot behavior, it's our duty to do the same. Once that's done I say we
>[E] Is there a library around here? Maybe you could do some research on the area.
Does anyone know what the "locks" on the sea ruins are? Someone has to have heard of something similar before.
>>
>>30281985
Did we take any proof that we discovered a new reaverbot?
I don't think she'll just take our word for it.
>>
>>30282278
I don't think so. Maybe we should look into getting a gun camera installed on our buster gun. That way it would confirm the existence of any new Reaverbots we encounter.
>>
>>30282385
Good idea. Let's get a camera later on, when we do some shopping.

There's a lot you'd like to find out about the area and while the Mayor has stated before she doesn't know anything about the ruins, she might be able to give you a clue or an idea where to look for more information. People have lived around here for quite a while, there has to be SOMETHING known about them the ruins.

Another reason to head to the Mayor’s Office is the fact you believe you discovered a new type of Reaverbot. You’re not familiar with the process of claiming such discoveries, but you’d think something like that would be based out of City Hall. You’re eager to finally get your name out and get some recognition, but at the same time you also want to help contribute to the pool of information shared amongst Diggers. You’ve made it this far using information passed on and shared by other Diggers, its only fair you contribute to the pool.

After a nice walk to the Governmental Sector and a chat with the City Hall receptionist, you find yourself in the “Office of Claims and Communication”. Here a young lady sits behind a large counter, radio equipment lining the wall behind her, and papers messily stacked in large piles around the room. A few men sit at the radio equipment wearing headphones and ether working or trying to look busy.

“Hello! Welcome to the Office of Claims and Communications. How may I help you?”

“Yes. I’m a new Digger in the area and I believe I discovered a new type of Reaverbot.”

“Wonderful! Just hand over your physical or photographical evidence and tell me your observations on it.”

“Uh…I didn’t get any evidence. I made some sketches of what it looked like though!” You pull your sketchbook from your bag and show the women your drawings, however she's not impressed.

>>
>>30282754
Yeah, we should have seen this coming. The things were aquatic, we weren't able to retrieve any remains. Sorry for wasting your time, ma'am. We'll just have to get a camera and return to the ruins.
>>
>>30282754
“I’m sorry” The woman says, shaking her head. “But to make a discovery claim you need to have physical or photographic evidence to back it up, preferably both. We've had Diggers make false claims in the past that got a lot of people hurt, so we've put measures to prevent people from trying to get famous off of a lie. If you did discover a new type of Reaverbot, I’m sure you’ll have no trouble getting evidence for it.”

You leave the office, feeling a bit foolish for trying to make a discovery claim without any proof, but you’re not quite disheartened since those Tri-Anglers were pretty pathetic. You make a note to buy a camera and collect the remains of the next one you kill, the Bronze Tower sank into the ground but there's bound to be more Tri-Anglers in the other towers.

Returning to the reception desk you go up to see the Mayor, apparently she's free at a moment and she's made it so you don't have to make appointments to see her provided she's not busy with something.

Heading upstairs you enter the Mayor's office and are greeted by a friendly nod.

"Hello again Mr. Treble, I'm afraid if you're hoping for information regarding your home Island I can't help you. An investigation is still being made and I haven't heard anything yet, I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything."

"I appreciate that, but that's not why I'm here. I was hoping you'd know something more about the ruins"

"I believe we've been over this Mr. Treble, I'm afraid I told you everything I know which isn't much."

"Are you sure? Maybe there's a legend or something that can help me out. I mean Schlaf has been around a long time right? It's only just become a city? There has to be something that can help me..."

it still boggles my mind that people reacted the same way they did, even after he said that there would be no consequences and it was for seeing the characters react.
>>
>>30283151
It's probably about the -5 penalty out of nowhere for a failed roll, which will apply to all social interactions from there on.
Yes, Bass is socially stunted, but he isn't downright retarded. Hell, Ira has -2 for her lifelong fear of falling back into a wheelchair.

Say, if it was -2 and more about picking up on subtle hints during conversations, people would've reacted otherwise.
This just seemed like punishing success.
>>
>>30283074
Mayor Gold raises an eyebrow at this and leans back in her chair. "I'm not familiar with the local folklore myself, after the Week of Ruin people let a lot of legends and myths die in their throats, fearful of encouraging Diggers into provoking more Reaverbot attacks."

Turning in her chair she stairs out the window behind her, the morning sky was like a mirror for the ocean that surrounded them.

"Schlaf went relatively unharmed during the Week of Ruin, but many people here are still afraid of what may happen if a Digger awakens something in our ruins."

Gold turns around, looking at you intently. "I trust your Bass, you're an honest young man and it's obvious you wouldn't do anything that would endanger the lives of others especially after the loss of your own home. I'm willing to tell you where you might find some information on the local ruins, but first I want you to tell me what happened in the Bronze Tower. Were you the one who caused that earthquake?"

"I think there's a fifth ruin hidden somewhere on this Island, but the only way to find it is to disengage the 'locks' in the towers."

"Hmmmm, three sealed ruins for one new ruin? I don't like the idea of anyone activating things found inside those ruins, but having less ruins to worry about would be nice." The Mayor opens her desk and pulls out a buisness card, writing something down on the back before handing it to you.

"Take this card and show it to the librarian. He'll allow you to look at some older documents we have there, provided you don't have a habit of tearing pages. I'm trusting you Mr. Treble, I hope It's not miss placed."

"Don't worry Mayor Gold you won't regret this!"

You leave the office and make your way outside once again.

Heading to the library might be a good idea, but maybe you could get Ira to help? Or maybe you had something else you'd like to do?

Well Bass?
>>
>>30283979
Yeah, sure. Let's get Ira and raid a library.
>>
>>30283979
Yeah, let's see if Ira isn't too busy to come along. But hit the shopping district real quick before that and get a camera. We're going to get photographic evidence next time we run into a Tri-Angler. Provided that a camera is within our price range, of course.
>>
>>30284022
>>30284064
You head out to find Ira, but stop by the shopping distract and browse around for a camera. There's three kinds you can buy.

>A disposable camera, it has enough film for 50 photographs, but the pictures it produces are rather low quality. It only costs 10 Zenny

>A high quality camera, the kind photographers use. Lots of lens, settings, and stuff you honestly don't know how to use. It can produce great pictures provided you know how to take them. It costs 500 Zenny

>A poleroid camera. Costs 20 zenny and uses a different film then regular cameras, however it can produce a picture instantly, removing the hassle of having to develop the film yourself or have someone develop it for you.

Which camera do you wish to purchase Bass?

That seems smart. We'll activate the remaining locks in quick succession to minimize the panic. Then it's just aftershock, as far as anyone knows. And doing it that way also means we can double back to see if there's anything we missed on the first run.

Because a mini oxygen breather is great for emergencies and incase we need to go down in water inside the ruins, plus nightvision goggles are self explanatory and should be near the same section as the scuba gear if it is based off on any real life stores.
>>
>>30284888

alright, sorry for the accusation. There was a samefag incident in an earlier quest, so I'm kinda paranoid. Might also be because I just woke up.

true, but nightvision never seems to be a problem in Legends games, despite there not being any visible lights. I'm also a bit leery of the cost, since the next 2 ruins aren't underwater.

The camera store at the D&A Apartment store complex has a pretty big selection, however you settle on buying a Polaroid camera, it's in your price range, easy to use, and less of a hassle to get photos from. Putting 20 Zenny down for the camera and another 20 Zenny on additional film you leave the store and look around the other stores.

>>30284741
>>30284771

Sadly the D&A Department store building doesn't seem to have any shops that stock night vision goggles or miniature oxygen tanks. You have no idea where you would find night vision goggles and while you know they sell diving equipment at the docks, you remember their selection was pretty limited.

>>30285006
You have no idea when the library closes, but it's best to assume it closes sooner then later. It's a Monday at it's 12:30 in the afternoon. Remembering you and Ira have radios, you fish yours out of your backpack and call her up on it.

Thankfully Ira is still carrying her's and replies.

"Hey Bass, what's up?"

"The Mayor gave me access to some special part of the library and I was wondering if you could help me do some research?"

"Sure! I'm not doing anything. I'll meet you there!"

It doesn't take you very long to locate the library, it's a large, old building that seems to have been built around the same time as the Rutabaga Church. Ira is waiting for you when you arrive and the two of you enter together.

The library is clean and well lit, but has a rather unwelcoming mustiness to it that the decrepit librarian manning the desk doesn't help alleviate. He glares at you and Ira as you come in.

"Can I help you?" mistrust hanging on his every word.

"Yes. I was told to by the mayor I could see some special documents?" You hand over the card and the old man snatches it away from you, reading over Mayor Gold's handwriting with a scrupulous eye.

"Fine. Follow me..."

The old man slowly gets up from his desk and leads you through the library. You pass shelves that reach the ceiling almost spilling over with books as you make your way to the back of the library. Ascending a set of spiral stairs the old man leads you up several floors, the books getting older and fewer the higher you go.

Eventually you reach a large heavily reinforced door with several padlocks on it. After taking several minutes to undo the locks, the old man lets you inside the 'attic' of the library where several shelves of very old books lay with only a single table and a few chairs in the middle of the room to sit down in.

"Well...let's start!" Ira says and goes off to check the nearest shelf, the old man watching the two of you as you get to work.

You and Ira spend about 6 hours sitting around and reading through the old books in this locked off part of the library. The books here are old and all hand written with the handwriting and dialect in an old style, making them difficult for you to get through.

A lot of what you read doesn’t make much sense, but you manage to glean some interesting stuff here and there. Apparently the people of this island once believed they were watched over by a goddess who lived in a massive onyx tower. She both protected them from harm and punished them when they grew ‘disorderly’. You quickly got lost in how they keep blabbing on about how powerful she is while Ira manages to pick out a few more details from the other books.

This ‘goddess’ was known as Minerva and she often punished the people living on the island by ‘raining down shining spears from heaven’. However the people believed their goddess to have abandoned them because of their disobedience, because when they grew ‘disorderly’ instead of punishing them she and her tower disappeared one day never to reappear.

“What do you make of all this Bass?” Ira asks as she flips through the pages of the ancient book.

Well Bass? Want to take a shot at guess what all this meant?
>>
>>30286275
Could be that this onyx tower is the hidden ruin that needs to be unlocked.

And that this Minerva is a powerful reaverbot - perhaps another intelligent one, who's ruled over this island.
If she's disappeared, she probably did so during the Week of Ruin.

Maybe the old priest Ira's living with knows more about her?
>>
Rolled 16

"It sounds like there was someone living in the 5th ruin, and ruling over the land, and then, either it locked itself away, or someone locked it away. I don't know if we should unlock the ruin now. What if it's some type of reaverbot like that sentient one? What if it's something else, something we can't even imagine?"
>>
Rolled 8

>>30286275
The onyx tower is obviously the hidden ruin.

Minerva is probably some kind of overseer, reaverbot or no. I think she/it was protecting this place? Revearbots acting as guardians?

When the city got too big, I guess their resources got streched too thin, and Minerva had to hibernate in order to prepare for some really dangerous attack. It would explain the sheer number of reaverbots I saw.

I'm worried about the "raining down shining spears from heaven". This might endanger the town if we keep going.
>>
>>30286275
"Sounds like some sort of culling system to limit population. Minerva is a lunar reference, and together with the "shining spears from heaven" makes me think some sort of satellite weapon. Perhaps the black tower is a transmitter of some sort to relay information to the orbital systems. It got taken down, and without it Minerva couldn't contact the island or oversee it to commence the culling. Not sure how it would have been deactivated, though. I don't know, maybe I'm just reading too much into it. Though even if it were true it wouldn't explain why my mom's pendant is a key to the system."
>>
>>30286511
Or help with the defense against an air pirate raid. But yeah, it'd probably end bad for the town.
>>
>>30286275
Maybe Reaverbots had control over the island and protected the citizens?

but the whole raining shining spears from heaven is kinda fucking crazy. Do the Reaverbots exist in space? A Satellite or something? Could they attack from space?
>>
>>30286428
The Week of Ruin was 4 years ago, these books were obviously written long before that.

>>30286432
>>30286511
>>30286595

"It could have been something ruling or watching over the island from the tower. It might have been some weapon system or maybe a giant Reaverbot that loomed over the island and occasionally blasted the people living here. Regardless of what it was something happened to it and it was sealed up in the fifth ruin. I don't know if unlocking the fifth ruin is such a good idea now..."

"Well it's not just going to go away because we leave it alone Bass." Ira states.

"If anything we have more of a reason to investigate it because it's dangerous. What if it's actually a weapon of some kind, just waiting for some well-armed pirates to rush in and scoop it up? Leaving it alone isn't going to do anything good, and while unlocking the fifth ruin might be dangerous at least we'll know whatever is inside won't be misused and if it's anything bad like some giant Reaverbot I'm sure you can destroy it"

"Thanks for the vote of confidence but I don't know, it still doesn't explain why my Mom's pendant is the key to opening the locks..."

Ira shrugs. "Maybe your mother was a Digger when she was younger and she took that thing as a good luck charm?"

“I have been pretty lucky now that I think about it."

"See? There's no need to run off now that we've already started on the towers. If we leave now and there is something dangerous in there, we've already done one third of the work for someone else.”

"Nah I'm fine, you need any help with what you're doing? I think it's only fair I give you a hand after you helped me do that research."

"I'm good I don't really need help with what I'm doing." Ira waves you off but is obviously thankful for the offer.

"Alright, I'm gonna head back to the garage to help Cruiser, I feel kind of bad dumping all the tech stuff on him."

(I'm gonna have to call it early tonight since the weather is turning to shit and my internet connection is going into the toilet fast. I'm sorry about this guys)

There are two timelines.

One which is the megaman timeline

another is the netbattle timeline

Starforce is part of the netbattle timeline. It got fucking NETS.

Megaman Main timeline is this.

Megaman>X>Zero>ZX>Legends

Netbattle is
Netbattle>Starforce

Someone before both games, there was a difference on who technology influences the world.

Light technology is the network system

Wily is the robotics.

Wily is either dead or on the moon with Sigma body...ready to come to life once more.

It's all good. Some questing is better than none. See you next time, Crosswire.
>>
>>30287773
Welp.

Good thing Digger Quest is fine.

HOLY SHIT. This is the first time Bass didn't get a Crit roll in a thread.
>>
>>30287773
Sure thing man. See you next time, and thanks for running.
>>
>>30287773
No problems. Short, regular quests are fine too.
>>
>>30287848
What? HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE.

Was this Crosswire's true plan? To break the chain of crits and restore balance?
>>
>>30287928
hahahahahahhahahahHHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHA.

You can't stop the BASS. Doesn't he know? Next thread will rail Crits from the heavens.
>>
Since we got pages, let talk about how we can improve Bass shooting abilities.

Some targetting device like Sniper man for Bass? Use the helmet for a computer and a one eye len for targeting?
>>

Charging the buster shot cost about 30 seconds per shot for only double the damage.

Is just shooting the normal shots are better in DPS than charging? I mean, enemies don't got invincibility frames after being damaged, so just shooting is better unless the enemy is highly armored....and even then, why not just shoot?
>>
>>30288405
because sometimes an enemy's armor is too tough for a normal shot to damage. Like with the big guy we took down last thread, we had to do charged shots to hurt him, and even then it took multiple CS to it's weak point to kill it
>>
>>30288701
We should see if we can modify the way our buster charges shots.

Same power, smaller burst, increased penetration.
Add some spin on it, and we're firing energy drills that can blast through anything.

You mean like the charge laser shot that the girl from ZX Advent uses?

That a good idea. There also Bass Rapid machine Buster from megaman & Bass.
>>
Whelp, it looks like my Bass crit went to another quest since this ended early.
>>
>>30289048
Which one?
>>
>>30289075
Digimon Quest
>>
>>30289002
Well, since Bass has no real training, we could go for something with a faster fire rate for the regular attack.
For example, firing in bursts of three shots by pulling the trigger once. Or just going full automatic.
