That's all you have for right now....

My posting starting now will be alittle spotty as I draw all the areas for the next island like I did the previous. Made things alot easier on me.
>>
I do wanna start a discussion it'll help me draw.

Let's talk about what freaks you out and what really makes you happy....tell me what about both ends of your spectrum and why they should never touch. I consider this research
>>
>>30309946
I don't like swarms of things, so the snake pit already messed with me. When things are in a swarm, you can't kill them with a single attack. Like, if it's something big and scary, you can still stab it in to eye, but lots of little things can take casualties and still tear you to shreds.

I like folk music. I like sleeping for far longer than you're supposed to. I like tea.

I don't like swarms of things in my bed, in my tea, or folk music by swarms of things.
>>
>>30310194

do the facebook dot com thing and add this to it /photo.php?v=10151991362962523

swarms.....but seriously what about swarms about things you like
>>
>>30310335
Two things, when I see them move in a wave, just stacks of crawly things coming right at me, and when little things are all over your body, biting and crawling.

When I was around 3, I ended up stepping into an anthill, and crushing through to the center. I had to take a bath to get them all off of me. Urgh.
>>
>>30310382

I had a smaller scale incident with fire ants near a go kart track when i was in florida for my 8th birthday
>>
>>30310382

but a swarm is just a large amount of things instead of pain and suffering what if it a wave of pleasure? A huge amount of featureless smooth snakes might actually be more enjoyable than anything
>>
>>30310531
God no. Lordy no, pleasurable or not, I wouldn't be able to stand it.
>>
>>30310625
Also, swarms are, to me, very inhuman. Bugs swarm, spiders swarm, little fangly fish that can skeletonize a cow in 2 minutes swarm.
>>
>>30310625

Is it the sight that does it?
>>
>>30310711
I dunno, I guess? I never really thought too much about why I found such things so unnerving.
>>
>>30310746

Imagination is also a powerful tool... the difference between watching a youtube video and feeling things in your head is that you put yourself into the mass inside your head.

what would it be like if you closed your eyes in the middle of a swarm of smooth or soft but didn't imagine you were in it? or imagined that it was water that was you floating in a salt water ocean instead of a crazy amount of snakes?

The reason I'm wonder is.... can people interacting in this sort of stuff imagine themselves in the protagonist shoes and get those feelings? Can I make this happen?
>>
>>30310929
Hrmm, I dunno. Other people may think differently, but all that would be in my mind is "This is a mass of squirming, wriggling, living things,"

And it would fuck with me.
>>
>>30311059

I wish you weren't the only one watching the thread.

I'm interested in what creeps people out because I want to know if there's any connections in people's fears. I want to make my game actually creepy at one point
>>
>>30311137
Generally, people fear creepy crawlies, things with sharp teeth, and the dark.
>>
>>30311161

I'm trying to think if i can make flashes now with music and motion and see if that'll help. I don't think I'd have an easy time with 4chan if I did that though
>>
>>30311216
I'd recommend against that. They wouldn't show up in the archive.
>>
>>30309946
Being eaten alive or slowly seeing things have chunks taken out of it slowly seriously freaks me out.
>>
>>30311426

So is it being eaten and then digested and killed or is it fleshy orifices consuming you whole?
>>
>>30311329

What about youtube videos?
>>
>>30311589
Probably the thought of something mercilessly eating chunks of flesh and digesting such while you're still alive and aware of everything.
>>
>>30311737

So is it not the pain of this happening? But the imagining?
>>
>>30311737

What I mean is do you imagine the pain or the ripping and digesting?
>>
>>30311783
It's the imagining of the pain. It's why you cringe when you hear about something painful, because you image it happening to you.
>>
>>30311811

Well alot of people enjoy pain or pain under certain circumstances.... pain during sex negates most of the negatives of pain depending on what pain it is
>>
>>30311811

So is it less the consuming and more the pain? do you get the same reaction to pain in general?
>>
>>30311619
They would still be offsite, so the same problem. It would be nice, but animated gifs are more practical.
>>
>>30311924
>>30311863
It varies from person to person, but talking as the swarm guy, it's a mixture of the fear of pain, and the sheer inhumanity of a swarm of things. Like yeah, sure, being torn to shreds by billions of ants hurt, but it's that they are an uncaring, single minded mass of living creature also (pardon the pun) bugs me.
>>
>>30311810
Well, for this scenario, this certain kind of pain would be a mixture of terror and excruciation. Against an unfeeling entity that has the sole desire to eat you.

Pain in where it's pleasurable is because you're in a somewhat controllable environment, where and when you can be hurt and by what extent.
>>
>>30311951
But sound enhances things

>>30312007
well I'm just thinking about where fear and joy meet....i think the excitement factor really matters here
>>
>>30312072

I think i'm talking about thrills like roller coasters and cliff jumping etc etc

where fear and joy meet
>>
>>30312214
You mean like an adrenaline rush you experience when you take a huge risk or wander into an unknown and uncomfortable situation?
>>
>>30312301

yeah

that can be applied to other things right?

It's possible to embed sounds in gifs. On 4chan, you need a specific addon to listen to them, though. 4chan Sounds, I think it's called.

Sometimes there's /v/ threads where people just post sound-embedded images.
>>
>>30312623
/v/

that sounds horrible....
>>
I got a fear for things that move in strange ways. Scuttling and slithering mostly, because they are just such unsettling ways to move. Also, fear of a greater loss of self, not just mind control but mind absorption/ devouring. Hope that's helpful
>>
>>30312647
They're pretty civil threads, at least for /v/. Usually the images have video game music embedded in them and I've never really seen one go off-topic.
>>
>>30312705
odd, I'd expect something like that to be the usual /v/ shit-show
>>
>>30312355
Excitement or expectation of an extremely desirable thing or action may give you a similar rush, but I think that method of emotion is harder to invoke than fear.
>>
>>30312673

Your fears are linked two the other two guys in a way. Interesting

>>30312705

but I also don't want to make everyone get an add on

>>30312769
I'm interested in finding a way to make people feel uncomfortable in the middle between fear and joy
>>
>>30312858
and by uncomfortable I mean in a way they won't just get up and leave

>what freaks you out
Jellyfish. I think it has to do with how wildly alien they are, how dissimilar they are to other animals while still being animals. Also how some species have some of the deadliest venom on the planet as well as upwards of 20 eyes. Not to mention how when you go to the beach, it's really hard to see them either in the water or washed up on the beach itself, so it's hard to avoid getting stung.

>what really makes you happy
...Animal Crossing. That's why I'm in these threads. I'm also pretty fond of lesbian incest, but it might be hard to implement that in this quest very well, plus a lot of other players might not like that sort of thing.

>>30313391
So let's talk about our Able and Digby... what are your opinions on them and the character's they've met?
>>
>>30313456
So far they seem like good characters, can't say much of Butch yet, but so far everything has been pretty good character wise
>>
>>30313456
Butch seems like the kind of guy who'd do something stupid because it seemed fun at the time. And would look good in bitchin' shades.
>>
>>30310194

Dude I played a swarm of rats once and it was amazing. You should try it some time.

>>
>>30313821

You may get that chance. Though he's not tied down by anything like every other character is
>>
>>30313456
Characters seem to be quite alright up to this point.

I don't know about spooky faceless guy, though. He just seems a little lacking of something--besides a face.
>>
>>30313821

I wonder if Digby is Isabelles son and if Isabelle, Tortimer or The Villager is the Mayor.

Oh, lets ask Digby about his family!
>>
>>30313961
He also isn't really a character at this point

>>30313993
We can make this happen tonight alittle later
>>
>>30314158
Sorry Looks like we'll start this up tomorrow
>>
>>30312072

Okay, here's my suggestion for dealing with the animation/music issue. It's pretty complicated, but it shouldn't be too difficult.

1: Always post the animations in gif form.
2: If you want music, make a separate video and post it on youtube, and link it when you post the gif.
3: Under spoiler tags, list the name of the music you used.

This will solve the problem of important content being offsite. If you have the animation posted here, and tell people the music you're using, they'll be able to see what's supposed to be there if anything happens to the youtube page.
