Welcome ladies and gentlemen to another edition of Succubus Lord Quest!

Last time on Succubus Lord Quest, things went from bad to absolutely horrible in record time! While laying low in order to avoid the Pride demons spying on you, your undead Doppleganger tracked your body double to the Pride Demon castle and made quite a mess of things. Now the Pride Demons believe that the attack on the castle was done by the Ayarian Extremists led by Rebecca, and are now establishing a witch hunt!

Then Brooklyn, deciding that he’s waited long enough and went to rescue his Dad, as if he waited anymore the Pride Demon witch hunt and the increased Celestia security would’ve made the job nearly impossible, plus he needed to prove that he wasn’t a Celestia spy. After an unexpected encounter with both an Angel Principality and our Doppleganger, we have emerged victorious, but we found out that the angel has our father in a soul contract! We now continue from last time!

Also the second post was an ugly post with lots of eyesore text, which is now all compiled here!

“Brodin! Brodin what can you tell me about soul contracts!?” you yell out to him.

“Ugh...” Brodin mutters as he’s being lifted off the group, his body emitting a black smoke.

“Brooklyn... A soul contract is forever binding. If the angel revokes the contract, your father will die.” Wilhelmina states.

No! No this can’t be! You didn’t come all this way for nothing! “You mean there isn’t any other way!?” you say to Wilhelmina.

“...He’s a... A justice Principality Brooklyn.” Brodin adds while coughing. “He won’t be able to back out of a deal.”

...Ah! So if that’s the case, you can just ‘negotiate” a deal where you can get your father back!

Just as you finish that thought, you can see a blade directly by the side of your head.

“You won’t be abducting Sir Browning so long as I’m here Demon.” Rifter says behind you.

“Brooklyn, we *do not* have time for another fight right now!” Katlin says with panic in her voice.

Great... Now you need to deal with this idiot Hero as well...

is there a reason why i cant find the first few threads on suptg?
always wanted to get into thos quest. but never found them

They were archived by a troll unfortunately. I think they were purged a while ago.

The google document has links to all of the quest parts in it though.

Oddly enough, that tactic tends to critfail every time in this quest.

Would attempting to send the Hero on a rat slaying quest work?

Sorry OP, still catching up on the last few threads. Pretty sure my preferred suggestion of destroying any leverage Celestia has on us (Dad) wouldn't exactly be in character or useful in the long run. Which is why I'm keeping my mouth shut.

Hopefully the usual crowd will show up soon....

"Kid, my father is currently bound to THAT," pointing to the Principality," and he wasn't even allowed this compound. They told him both I and my sister were DEAD. My sister lives in this city, she has for years. It's a short walk. I'm not saying I'm a saint, but tell me kid, what kind of creature has the most beautific form, speaks the most honeyed words, but would torture my father for daring to say he wanted to leave and visit his own family, and while speaking of justice?"

"Kid, my father is currently bound to THAT," you say pointing to the Principality angel, "and he wasn't even allowed to leave this compound. They told him both I and my sister were DEAD. “You’re a demon! You’re already dead!” Rifter barks back.

“Listen to my entire sentence you dolt! Then take me out of the equation! My sister is a pure mortal through and through, so even if you remove me from this equation, the result is still the same!” you reply to him.

“Brooklyn, *now*!” Stacy stresses to you.

“Or do you want to keep waiting to do this until the Pride Demon forces show up? Hero or no, I doubt you have enough experience to fight an entire Pride Demon platoon on full inquisition mode.”

“We’re all... civilized people here...” The Principality says as he continues to eye Ada, still holding a dagger at his throat. “How about we... finish up our business quickly?”
>>
>>30309682

We don't have to kill the connection. all we want is that our father can visit his family and doesn't have to live locked up in Celestia's collage...

"All I want is that he has the freedoms which he has been denied returned to him. Preferably without him dying, There is a lot of catching up we need to do..."

"My business here is simple. Even the Pride demons aren't this...terrible. If you release the contract, he dies, so either swap it to someone else, like Rifter, or I ask my dad what he wants, and...well, it's his choice in the matter."

You decide to take a gamble. You turn around slowly, and instead of pushing the blade away you instead grab it and put it closer to your own neck.

"All I want is that he has the freedoms which he has been denied returned to him. Preferably without him dying, There is a lot of catching up we need to do. Say what you will about the Pride Demons, but at least they actually value a person’s family. Think of this as a conspiracy plot if you want, I don’t care. The only thing I want back right now is my own Father. You can fight me if you wish, but the only thing that’d happen is that we’d both end up in the execution row in the Pride Demon’s dungeon. Or you can call this a loss, we can both run away, and you can swear vengeance or whatever you fancy yourself to do. I only want my father, and if you think I’m lying ask the Judgement angel back there, who should be able to easily tell if I’m doing such a thing.”

Ada gives the Angel a small knee to the angel’s shoulder.

“She’s telling the truth!” the Principality replies.

Rifter looks at both you and the angel for several seconds, blade remaining at your throat as the sounds of a panicked school can be heard far off in the distance.

Rifter slowly removes the blade from your throat, looking into your eyes with an intense gaze of frustration. “...You better be gone by the time I’m finished my training demon, otherwise you’ll be the first one I hunt!”

“NO!” The Principality cries out as Riften flees from the scene, just before Ada presses the blade against this throat again.

Ada looks directly into the eyes of the angel, speaking in a loud voice so that everyone in the area can hear her. “Alright Angel... Here’s my offer. From this moment on you and anyone you command are forbidden to knowingly do any harm to Rand Browning mentally, physically, emotionally, or financially. Your failure to do so will result in an immediate demerit back down to Cherub class Angel. In exchange for this, I offer you a chance to escape from the Pride Demons who are on their way here as we speak.”

You hold your breath in anticipation for what the angel’s response is.

“...I accept these conditions.” The Principality angel replies.

As he speaks these words your Father, currently up in the rafters, seems to take a deep breath as he gets back up onto his legs. “Finally... It feels like my lungs aren’t being crushed again...”

Ada jumps off the Principality and vanishes into the shadows behind the pillar. A few soldier angels go after her, but you believe that Ada can handle herself. The angel however wastes no time as he hovers above the ground, heading back up into the sky.

“Rand Browning, you may go free now, but know that you are forevermore banished from Celestia’s heavenly g-”

“Been there, done that. Save your lectures to people who are impressed with them judge.” your Father cuts the angel off.

“Dad!” you say flying up into the rafters towards him.

“We will be having a talk about this later young ma- Er, lady.” Your Father says as he taps his fingers against your horns.

Alright, time to be somewhere else 15 minutes ago.
>>
>>30310623

"... I guess so, but for now, we need to get you back home. Though I'd rather you not mention this to Excel or Uncle..."
>>
>>30310623
"Yes, we will." Quickly whisper Excel's address to him.

Call to Rifter, "Rifter, thank you, I'm in your debt. A small part of it that I hope to settle now: always remember that part of yourself that KNOWS what good is. Others will tell you what they think, but never let yourself be stifled. You are a Hero for a reason, not because you are strong, or wise, or powerful, but because you possess true and pure judgement. Never lose it. So many will be lost if you do."

NOW GTFO.
>>
>>30310623
Add in "And never forget the training my father has given to you. It would be dangerous for him to continue, but remember what he tried to instill in you. We all have our flaws, but sometimes it is those who seem the most pure who have the farthest to fall.
>>
“Yes we will.” you say grabbing onto him slowly floating down to the ground for him. “Excel is living at Uncle’s place by the way.”

“...You mean he hasn’t moved out from that pit?” your father asks in a dull tone.

“Nope.” you reply as you land on the ground. “Now Dad, I’m sure introductions are in order, but only after we finish running like hell.”

“Sounds good to me!” your father replies.

“We have an escape route down this way!” Erika says as she carries Leona over her shoulders.

“I just hope it’s still open!” Katlin replies as you call begin running to the back door area.

Just as you manage to get to the back door area, you can already see some heavily armoured Pride Demon soldiers, their large ape like arms holding rather large and intimidating weapons.

“...Maybe we can negotiate with them?” Stacy asks.

Out from behind, a Pride Demon with brilliant blue armour steps up, seeming to tower over the statue in the school courtyard that just collapsed to the ground.

“I, LORD DIO, COMMAND YOU, LOYAL SOLDIERS, YOU CAPTURE ANYTHING INSIDE OF THAT SCHOOL WEARING THEIR UNIFORM OR EVEN HAVING A HINT OF ENLIGHTENED AETHER! KILL THEM IF THEY RESIST!” The massive Pride Demon bellows out as he points his sword towards the school. “ADVANCE!”

“Don’t think that’s going to work.” Ada says flatly.

You do a small look at your body, noticing your demonic traits are sticking out AND you’re wearing the school uniform. This couldn’t be any worse even if you tried...
>>
>>30311319
Use light control to camouflage us, space control to make a map and make for high ground we should still be able to fly aways and lose them in the city.
>>

Head to the sewers, they'll sense our aether if we try to hide. Better yet, ask Rand if there are ways out of here.
>>
>>30311418
I agree with the Solidogram camouflage idea...
We could try and put a solidogram wall in the ally which should give us a bit of time to dash from the building down an alleyway where everyone can change outfits and we can see if the Angels magic has worn off enough to let us shapeshift again...

“Plan B!” you say summoning a hoard of angelic soliogram soldiers.

“Coming in to get you was plan B!” Erika barks back at you.

“Plan C then! Everyone close together!” you say as you then cast a light control camouflage around yourself. This should stop the advance guards, but won’t last against any sort of Greed Demon or Gemelli you may encounter. “Come on! We’ll see if we can fly away!”

“No! They’re going to have Gemelli or Greed Demon spotters! Our best bet is down below!” Katlin replies.

“There’s a way over to the sewers this way!” your father says as he leads you back into the school.

You only need to go around two corners before you can heard the demonic soldiers breaching the front gates. Your soliograms are likely fighting very very poorly without you being able to see them, but given you summoned about 50 of them it should at least keep them tied up for a few seconds.

“Here! Here’s the door!” your father says as he opens up the door.

Inside it appears to be a cleaning closet, filled with knocked over shelves and cleaning supplies from the earlier battle in the school. Not wanting to waste time, you shove the shelves aside in order to clear out the room.

“Is that a... Is that a warded sewer gate!?” Ada gasps in astonishment.

“You have any idea how many demons try to get in here!?” your father replies as he rushes over to the gate.

“You have the key right!?” you ask your father.

“Nope!” your Father replies as he kneels down next to the sewer gate.

“Oh god damnit!” you curse to yourself.

Down the hall, you can hear the heavy clanking of armoured demons approaching the closet location.

“Uh... An escape right now would be nice.” Brodin says as you all enter inside of the closet.

“I need a moment!” your father says as he looks down at the manhole cover.

“There’s some scents this way!” you hear some grunts replies.

“We don’t have a moment!” Katlin cries out.
>>
>>30311946
They can smell Aether? Holy crap. Summon another Beast to help hold the door shut. If anyone can help without obvious aether use to keep the door closed, it'd help.

“Time to move really fast then Dad!” you say as you squeeze into the small room, now with nearly a dozen people inside of it. You try to summon up a part of a light beast to hold the door, but things are cramped as is. Instead you just summon up a whirling mass of darkness and use it to hold against the door.

Ada and Stacy join suit after, summoning up a wall of Earth followed by Ada freezing the door solid.

“Some are in here!” “Get them!” you can hear the soldiers grunt on the other side shortly before the door begins to violently rattle.

“Little more time...” your Father says as a bright laser begins to melt apart the manhole cover.

Just as he says this, a spear plows through a section of the door and into the room itself, taking a glancing blow off of Katlin’s armoured torso.

“We don’t have any left!” Stacy says in a panic.

“There’s always more time...” your father mutters as he continues cutting into the manhole.

“Step back, let me handle this...” another voice comes from beyond the door.

“DAD!” you call out.

“Almost... Almost... There!” your Father says getting up from the ground.

Without delay Nalika steps in and stomps on the manhole cover. It takes nearly three solid blows before the thing finally manages to cave into the sewers below.

“Into in the sewers!” you say to everyone, just as you hear some incantations from someone on the other side. “MOVE IT!”

Everyone begins to pile into the sewers, literally just jumping down into the hole. You follow in along with everyone else. The slick surfaces of the waste disposal chute making it easy to slide down though a bit painful on the wings. After a few seconds of sliding down a dark hole, your group slides right out into the sewer water of Old TO. Quickly swimming to the top before taking a large breath.

The chute you just came down now emits what sounds to be a loud boom, just before you see it beginning to glow inside of it.

“Seal it! SEAL IT!” you cry out.

Stacy doesn’t waste a second, quickly moving to have the brick walls of the sewer cover up the exit. The wall is a bit thin, and when the flames hit the wall they continue to hit the brick wall until they glow a red hot. You all wait with baited breath, just as the reddness in the flames start to die down a bit.

Each and every one of you give a relaxed sigh all at once.

“...And here I swore to myself that I’d never be swimming in a sewer again...” Ada mutters to herself.

"It could be worse, we could have been nicely grilled, or en route to a succubus training school." you reply. “Now do you know a safe place in the sewer where the Pride Demons won’t check?”

“Why would you assume I’d know such things!?” Ada replies.

“You know why.” you answer.

Ada waits for a few seconds before sighing. “Half a kilometer down this way. There’s a few Old World ruins the Pride Demons often avoid. We’ll lose them in there.”

“I’m impressed you know the sewers that well Ada.” Nalika says to her.

“It’s not something I’m proud of...” Ada mutters.

******

You all navigate the path in pure silence, mainly out of fear or worry that the Pride Demon’s would have scouts down here. But after a long and awkward silence, you all arrive in what appears to be a wide open Old World ruin, old even by the Old World standards. Large metal carriages lay in ruins collecting rust while your single light orb is shining light on this place for the first time in years.

“Celestia or the Pride Demons rarely follow this far, so we should be off their trails for now.” Ada says.

“We’ve had a rough encounter, so I think it’s best if we took a small break.” Erika says.

“Good idea. We’re all a little tired at this point.” you reply looking over your group. Nearly everyone in your group took a solid blow in more way that one. Leona’s faith is shattered, your father having shocking revelations, Brodin and Wilhelmina both getting the crap beaten out of them, in fact it seems that only you and Ada managed to get out of the core group in one piece.

Leona is certainly the most pressing issue for the moment. While your father appears to be adjusting just fine as he’s discussing things with Ada, Leona appears to have been attacked at the most vulnerable in her entire body: her spirit.

“Leona... Leona come on please cheer up...” Erika says trying to lift up her chin.

“No! G-Go away!” Leona sobs as she pushes her cousin away. “I have nothing left anymore! The church... The one thing that has kept me going all these years... They just excommunicated me! Threw me aside like garbage!”

“Leona...” Erika says.

“All those years! All those years I was the most devoted follower I could possibly be! I joined because I hoped I could redeem my family, a noble goal! But no! No it meant nothing! It meant absolutely nothing because I’m a demon now!” Leona say as she reaches between her cleavage, tearing off her Celestia cross and throwing it into a grate.

What does the church say about the being that looks so beautiful, that has the most honeyed words, but commits the most horrible atrocities, Leona.

It's in the core of the teachings, one of the biggest stories."

Good point there. Still, only a minor noble from nowhere (and she in turn is a minor noble of that minor house), but to HER, this might be more important.

Still, I think the fact that she just got effectively exiled from her belief system by one of the big-shots within it might be just a tad more important that family glory at this point.
>>
>>30314466
But the fact is that it was the central point of her faith/life. Telling her that she's now in the best position to do it herself based on her own morals and virtues rather than hoping angels that deny her whole existence to do it for her is the best way to keep Leona as Leona while allowing to grow emotionally.

You walk over to the grate and pull off the cover of the grating. You see the Celestia symbol down below and try to use your darkness tentacles to pick it back up. However this doesn’t work as your darkness tentacles are basically distinigrated a few seconds just after touching it.

“This is gonna hurt...” you say kneeling down at the grating entrance. You psyche yourself up by taking a deep breath before wrapping your hand around the symbol.

It burns. It burns so bad. If your tongue wasn’t in your mouth then you surely would’ve bitten it off by now. How Leona was able to carry this thing on her person without having any outward effect on her is a miracle in of itself. You try to keep a cold head while doing this, but it simply isn’t possible. While you are doing this for Leona, you do want this thing out of your hand as quickly as possible.

“Brooklyn!? What are you-!?” Erika asks as you walk over towards the girls while quivering.

You walk over to Leona, dropping the Celestia symbol in front of her, falling to the ground with a small ting. You collapse to your knees while holding the wrist of your hand. The symbol just touching your hand back at the teahouse for a split second was bad enough, but this time it still feels as if it’s burning through your flesh.

“Brooklyn! W-Why you do that!? You know what happens if demons touch that!” Leona says in a horrified voice.

"That concern you show... It proves that you lost nothing Leona, you're still the same selfless girl that you always were.” You say stopping to take a few deep breaths. “So what if you are a demon, you never betrayed your ideals, never betrayed your faith. If you want to redeem your family then do so based on your own morals and values not a dogma preached by a faction of angels that deny your existence in addition to those of other good and honest demons. Stop hoping to redeem them and reform them yourself by your own action. Have this back, if you want to discard it do so after thinking about it and not a impulse."

“Brooklyn no! Your hand... You’re hurt!” Leona says taking your hand and turning it around, tears streaming from her eyes as she looks at your hand. “I... I can’t heal something like this Brooklyn! D-Don’t do something like get hurt for me!”

"I'm you're teacher, teaching you things is my job. If I need to endure a little pain to help you grow, then that's my job." Grin "If you want to blame anyone, blame him." point to dad "He pulled stuff like this all the time."

Smile.
"I'd get hurt for you... for all of you. No matter what. So don't be sad. I'm your teacher, and it's up to me to see you grow right. And sometimes that involves taking a bit of pain"

"That's better. Friends being hurt is something worth getting upset over."
>>
>>30314674
"Leona, your faith is worth more then anything that thing has ever and will ever say. It tortured my father because he wanted to see his daughter and son. It wanted to hurt you, because it was made of hate. It couldn't stand the idea of things being not as it wanted, of others simply believing in what's right.

Don't cry over it's words, but don't hate it, either. Don't give it power. Don't let it corrupt who you are. You carried that cross on your neck all of this time, when I could barely carry it this far.

You're worth more at this moment then that thing will ever be."
>>
>>30314674
"Leona, dear please. Don't make such a scene over something as minor as this. You willingly bore this without concern for how it burned your flesh. I cannot abide your casting it off by impulse. And don't start getting so dramatic about my getting injured for you. I am always willing to go to the mat for you."
>>
>>30314674
"I'd do it again, it's a man duty to care for those close to his heart. I'm also sorry to tell you I'll likely get hurt again, if not for you for someone else because seeing you get hurt is more painful to me than anything this body could endure."
>>

no.
>>

"You're my precious student Leona, this is a small - and temporary - price to pay to help you in a moment like this."
>>
"I'd get hurt for you... for all of you. No matter what. So don't be sad. I'm your teacher, and it's up to me to see you grow right.” you reply as you take back your hand. “Sometimes that involves taking a bit of pain.”

“No! No I don’t want anyone else getting hurt because of me again!” Leona says scooping up her Celestia symbol and holding onto it, but this time making sure that no one else can grab hold of it.

“Brooklyn...” Erika says pulling you off to the side. (“I think Leona is going to need a lot of help for the next bit. That church meant literally everything to her, but after reading her mind on what happened she was basically insulted then cast out completely. Literally her entire worldview was shattered and people don’t just get up and walk away from that... I mean I’m honoured that you tried to help, truly and deeply, but we’re going to need to need to find some long term solution to this before she becomes depressed.”)

What do you have in mind?

(“I was considering taking her to the church of Pamille the day after we officially move out of Dio’s castle.”) Erika replies.
>>
>>30315349
Well we needed to talk to them eventually. And now we have a more personal reason to see them, other than pure power politics.
>>
>>30315349
"You do realize that they worship the Queens as saints right? That... might prove to be an issue."
>>
>>30315349
("It might be better if we just had her talk to Pamille directly. Ask the queen of her cast, and someone that's forged an understanding we her before, I'd be more comfortable with her giving guidance than another organized religion.")
>>
>>30315475
This, but temper it with, "Replacing one faith with another would be straight forward. It is worth a shot, but let's tread lightly."
>>
>>30315546
Pamille has been missing for a while Anon
>>
>>30315546
Dude, Pamille was the empress of the succubi. She ain't around no more
>>
>>30315349

(Sounds good. From what I hear they are accepting of anyone and not as prone to bigotry... Though I do hear that the church's leader is also the Aide leader, and she tends to mix church and clan politics... Be extra careful when they start speaking about the Queens, as far as everyone knows, they are dead, also, since you are both 'young' try not to make any kind of reference to personally knowing the Queens... But, yes. It is a good idea..."

also, wasn't the idea to try and switch Leona over to CoP anyway? This only makes things go faster with more long term affects...
>>
>>30315349
(I think Leona should talk with my father. If she wants to, she can visit the church, but this isn't like replacing lost clothing, or a house. This is who she IS. SHE needs to make her own choice, my father has studied Celestian theory for years, and he should be able to lead her to an element of the church that isn't about controlling it's members, that understands that there are no demons or angels, just daemons.)
>>
>>30315553
I more meant its tough to get her to worship beings that she has regular interaction with. Even if we can, that really isn't healthy.
>>
>>30315652

It's not really about who you worship, just what you do to help. Take that little Myian we met when the reporter Gemelli's attracted the street-gang of Myians. She wanted to help and tried to stop the fighting, she didn't come down all high and mighty full of self righteousness and bigotry that Celestia and the Pride Demons have...
>>
"Don't worry Leona, we'll find you a NEW church. With blackjack! And hookers!"

More seriously, and as a cheap analogy, she might not want a new teddy bear. She might want her old teddy bear back. She may also become WAY too into Pamille. There's no-one more fervent in their faith than the newly converted...
>>
>>30315619
>>30315349
(cont)
She shouldn't just choose Pamille because it's a church, she should choose it because she thinks it's right. First, she needs to understand that the thing masquerading as a Principality was a true demon, of the Celestian story kind. Beyond that, if visiting Pamille helps her, that's great, but this is about helping her, not just giving her another dogma to follow because the Angels are as bad or worse then the Pride Demons.
>>
>>30315585
Yeah, was thinking of the Aide queen whose name I never remember. Apologies for the brain fart.
>>
>>30315774
Frankly, I don't see why we should take the Principality seriously. If you look at the similarities between Celestian dogma and Christianity, you'll quite quickly see the similarities between the Principality's actions and that of a demon.

Show her angels are dicks, Rand might know of a sect of Celestia that's not derp. And lets not forget that Pamille's worshipers can be culty too. Just because one group has failed her, we need to shove her at another? She needs to grow up, and it's tough. Don't coddle her just because crying sucks.

It's not really about who you worship, just what you do to help. Take that little Myian we met when the reporter Gemelli's attracted the street-gang of Myians, even though she was a Miyian herself. She wanted to help and tried to stop the fighting, she didn't come down all high and mighty full of self righteousness and bigotry that Celestia and the Pride Demons have.

(“What are you trying to say Brooklyn?”) Erika asks.

You take a small breath before manually telling her the words. “Religion shouldn’t make a person what they are. I see this as a learning experience for Leona. I want her to look back on her original membership into Celestia. Did she really join it because she hated demons, or did she join it because she truly believed in the idea that there is inherent goodness in people? Such things is something Leona needs to search for herself. You and I can help her, but this sort of wisdom cannot be taught. It must be developed by an individual through experience alone.”

Erika looks at you as she says this, thankful but at the same time haunted by more questions than answers now.

“Leona is going to need to help with this. Someone she can trust. Sebastien is rough but he is certainly understanding. Go with your cousin and spend time with her while in her hour of need.” you say patting Erika on her shoulder with your good hand.

“...Yes... T-Thank you Sir Brooklyn!” Erika says before heading back off towards her cousin once more.

As you turn around, you can see that your father is sitting nearby, looking up at you as you walk over.

“I see that even with a bit of my help, I’ve raised my boy into a man that I can be proud of.” Your father says with a simple smile.
>>

"I'm trying, it's not easy everyday but I'm doing my best to be someone that would make you and mom proud. Some things changed, like my body but others are still the same, though I didn't have the courage to tell Excel about the whole 'succubus' part."
>>
>>30316071
Yup, a man you can be proud of. *look down at our chest*

"You feeling okay dad? The angel didn't do any permanent harm did he?"

Assuming he's fine, ask him about his time there. What, exactly, did the press-gang him onto doing for them?
>>
>>30316071
"Dad, you know a lot about Celestia. Could you point her to the blackest sheep of the church, so to speak? I don't want her to lose who she is over this. That...thing gives demons a bad name. It's why we can't have nice things."
>>
>>30316071
"So is now a good time for that talk? Or is that after you've said hi to Excel and Uncle?"
>>
>>30316453
That should probably wait until after they've stopped paying attention to us.
>>
>>30316479
But he doesn't know that THEY don't know we're a succubus now.
>>
>>30316721
We can tell him that he shouldn't show up until the pride demons are no longer paying attention.

“Yes... A man you can be proud of...” you say looking down at your chest.

Your father can only make a small chuckle. “Only a figure of speech, I assure you.”

"You feeling okay dad? The angel didn't do any permanent harm did he?" you ask sitting next to him.

“Soul contract, so he technically still owns my soul. But thanks to your Laminian friend, any retribution on his end is effectively quelled.” you father replies.

“He’ll actually honor it?” you ask.

“He has to. All justice angels have their promises written into the artifacts they own. If they violate a decree or deal they have made, then it will be visible to all and they’ll face heavy stigma. Considering a violation of this rule would result in a demotion to angel class, I don’t need to worry about him doing anything against me anytime soon.” your father replies.

You sit down next to your Dad, a strong silence between your both as you can hear the chatter of other people going on in the background.

“It’s about time I said why isn’t it?” you Dad asks.

“Would be nice.” you reply.

“This goes back a long time ago Brooklyn. Back when I was a young scholar in training in Old TO. As a mortal scholar I was in charge of transcribing certain books, as the Greed Demons had to have handwritten copies. So I get this book one day. That book... I still barely understand what it was talking about. I was fairly interested even though it was late at night, but only managed to read a few pages. Next morning the book was just... gone. I asked a few people I knew but didn’t look into it anymore.” your father says.

“As people disappear if you ask the right questions.” you reply.

“Exactly.” you father replies. “I wanted to move on, but that book... something in that book told me, not screamed to me that it was important.”

“What was the book about?” you ask.

“It was about ancient times, telling the tale of a repeating prophecy.” you father replies.

“A prophecy?” you ask.

“Yes. After reading it I dedicated myself to learning everything I could about it. I originally moved to Fort Hope with your mother because I heard the Langy Library had a good stock of old world and minor books. Things that just drop off the paper trail due to carelessness and other factors. After some time there, it became clear that the Langy library didn’t really have what I needed. So I left for Old TO in order to conduct some research, only expecting to be gone for a year. I heard about the rumor of the Celestian College and decided to apply there. It wasn’t long before I attracted the attention of that Principality and he agreed to let me have access to the school library in addition to a back order list whenever I wanted in exchange for being a professor at the place.” you father says.

“...You didn’t read the fine print did you?” you ask your father.

“Not a bit.” your father replies.

“I guess I know where Excel got that from.” you reply.

“I think you can figure the rest out from there. The Principality lied to be all the time to keep me at the school. The few times I did try to leave I didn’t even make it off the campus itself. In a way, I was their own high profile prisoner.” you father replies.

“What’s the prophecy then?” you ask.
>>

“I think I told it to you a few times when I tucked you in at night. There are warriors who have wings made of magic. They’re about to take off for the last battle that determines the fate of the universe. These warriors will never give up, because they have tenacious and strong hearts that are filled with great love. They are ready to sacrifice their very lives, to blaze a new trail for the future. One filled with hopes and dreams.”

“What!?” you exclaim standing back up in shock. “You sold your soul and abandoned your family because of a fucking bedtime story!? Mom is probably turning over in her grave right now!”

“Brooklyn please! I didn’t mean it to turn out like this! The fact that I missed your childhood and Marina passing away are punishment for my folly as is!” Your father exclaims. “If I knew what the deal would have entailed, then I’d gladly throw away everything I’ve learned over these years away in a heartbeat just to have that time back!”

You take a deep breath to reassure yourself. Your father means what he’s saying. “Then lets make up for lost time now, Dad. Neither Excel, nor Uncle know I'm a Succubus. I told them a magical trap killed me, but regenerated me with a female body, as well as making me enlightened.”

“...And they bought that?” your father asks.

“You wouldn’t?” you ask.

“...Brook please, who’s the one who taught you how to lie to your mother?” your father asks.

“Point. See, the truth is actually a bit more interesting to hear... See it all started about a few months ago. I was at the bar enjoying a night off when I got a tip about a possible demonic shrine.” you reply.

“‘Got a tip’ huh?” your father asks.

You remain silent as you hear this.

“How much?” you father asks in a stern voice.

“...30 gold...” you reply.

Your father can only sigh upon hearing this. “Brooklyn what have I told you about people who con you out of money then sent you to pirates for ransom?”

“I was drunk OK! The only reason I went there was because if I didn’t then I wouldn’t have anything to eat but potato’s and snowberries for the next month! Long story short the guy was right in some way. I stumbled across a shrine alright, but I tripped and got impaled in the process.” you reply.

Your father makes a griminced expression on his face upon hear that. “Well you’re a Succubus now. Was the Shrine to a high ranking Succubus? I thought the Pride Demons would’ve found all of those by now.”

“Eight high ranking Succubi actually.” you say holding up the fingers. “They’re the Succubi Queens from the Old World itself.”

“What!? They’re still alive!?” you father exclaims in shock.

“Apparently. I died on top of their shrine, and they used their power to pull my soul into the shrine with them for a talk. They wanted help in getting out and getting rid of the Pride Demons. In exchange they’d make me a Demon Lord in both title and power and grant me control of the Earth, if I can get it back together again.” you reply.

“W-Wow... I’m... Stunned to say the least. I never thought the Queen’s would still be alive, much less for my son to stumble upon them.” your father replies.

“It was quite a shock for me too. The hiding place the Queen’s have is immune to scrying and has no aether signature, so the Pride Demons weren’t able to find it.” you reply.

“It’d have to have that *at least* to avoid being undetected after this many years.” your father replies. “...You know it’s kinda funny that you’re this way now.”

“Why so?” you ask.

“You see, back when your mother was carrying you, we went to the town astrologer to see if she was carrying a boy or a girl. He said it was a girl, so your mother wanted to name you Brooklyn. I always knew he was wrong, so I wanted to name you Excel.” you father replies.

“Wait are you telling me that Brooklyn is a girl’s name!?” you reply.

“Funny how things come around huh?” your father says with a chuckle.

...It’s like the universe itself is mocking you now...

“Yea the Black Flame Hunter was the one who killed him.” you say cutting your father off, not wanting Leona to hear something that’d stress her out even more. “Either way, he’s gone now and Ada controls Fort Hope for the time being.”

“Hell of a cushy job you have being a Court Mage.” your father replies.

“Quite a step up. Many people in the court wondered how I got the rank.” you reply.

“So one of your goals in general will be to help the Succubi?” your father asks.

“Yes, which is a bit tricky since I learned just how varied some of their viewpoints are.” you reply.

“That’s the thing about Succubi son. Out of all the demons types, they’re the ones that mortals can most easily relate to. Not because of their appearance, but because Succubi rely on them for their core feeding methods. Succubi can last a long time off of Keep power generated from ley lines, but doing that is akin to a human only eating meat. Not healthy in the long run.” you father replies.

“Right, which is why I started a Succubus village idea. It was going well until I was being accused of being a Celestia spy.” you reply.

“Shouldn’t be a problem now.” you father replies.

“Not in the slightest.” you reply. “Anyways, due to some necromancer there is now a lot of vacant places in a town north of Fort Hope.”

“Hamelock.” you Father replies.

“Yes, well I was working to sent a batch of Succubi there, mainly Miyians and Ayarians. A small step, but I’d need to start somewhere.”

“Do you know anything about that male version of you we encountered in the school?” your father asks.

“It’s called a Draugr and your guess is as good as mine. All I know is that it was made using my old dead body. But considering Brodin finished it off, we shouldn’t have a problem with it anymore.” you state.

“About that.” Brodin replies rubbing his forehead. “When I tried to rip the soul out of that thing’s body, it felt like a horse was kicking me in the side of the head with both hooves. The retribution of when I tried to rip out his soul was much, much worse than the previous attack he did on us, to the point where I nearly got knocked out from that one hit. Needless to say it’s going to be coming back again.”

"So we're either going to need a master of either death or spirit magic, a combination of a few with lesser powers, or we need to find who has control of this thing and deal with them.

Dad, realistically, can we track this thing with my current body, or will we need to encounter it again?"

“The Draugr? The way I see it is that your soul used to inhabit that body, so if you have access to moderate level space magic or a scrying ritual, you could manage to track the Draugr so long as it has no wards up.” you Father replies. “Wouldn’t it just be easier to find out who’s controlling it?”

“I tried a Fate ritual and got nothing back. Whoever’s controlling it wants to make sure that it isn’t found out and is taking the steps to make sure it isn’t found out.” you reply.

“Draugrs are not easy to make, and no offense Brooklyn I don’t think you warrant the kind of attention in order to have a Draugr after you.” Brodin says.

“None taken.” you reply.

“So what are you saying Reaper Brodin?” your father asks.

“I’m saying that the person who made is very powerful and taking great care to make sure the Draugr remains alive. I’m more concerned what this thing’s goal is.” Brodin explains.

“Trying to kill me.” you reply.

“That’s a side effect, not a primary part of the Draugr itself.” Brodin replies. “It must also have some sort of secondary goal, and I believe finding that out is going to be the key to finding who made this thing.”

At some point, the Pride Demons are probably going to confirm it was the Black Flame Hunter that attacked the castle, then attacked the Celestia college.

We need a cover story.

The first sighting of this thing in Fort Hope was when the previous Lord had his little.... episode with the killer robot.
Then there were reported sightings after the Pride Demon investigators left.

It's after the robot. Or thinks there's more where that comes form!

That's it. It suspects there's more Old World stuff, but it doesn't know for sure.

Probably the most likely person to know would be Lady Marina. It attacked the castle in Fort Hope, where it learned we're not there any more. So it came here looking for us.

First the bar fight, then it attacked the Pride Demon castle looking for us.

It learned Celestia attacked us too. When we got away again, it was worried about someone else getting to us first, so it went to the college and wrecked their shit.

Yeah, that sounds reasonably plausible. It's hunting us because it suspects Lady Marina might have info on more Old World weapons.

Of course, the inspectors confirmed we don't have any more stuff and the robot has been reduced to scrap.... But the BFH doesn't know/doesn't believe that.

Considering the publicly known information, and its first sighting during the robot attack, the most likely explanation is it suspects there's more Old World stuff and it's after Marina, thinking she'd be most likely to know about any Old World stash.

I just thought we should be ready with some answers if people started asking questions.
If no one asks these questions, I guess it doesn't matter.

We could. If we do say this, we would only be presenting it as speculation.

"Well, it was first sighted during the robot rampage, I'd guess it has something to do with that. Maybe it wants the robot, or thinks there's more Old World stuff.
If that's the case, tracking down Lady Marina would make sense, she'd be most likely to know about such things, if they existed.

Or maybe it's after me. I'm the first Court Mage in Fort Hope in years. It may not want a Mage in office for some reason?"
>>
“Hm... I have no ideas of how to deal with that, but I certainly have some ideas to deal with the social backlash at the very least.” you reply.

“Pinning the blame on others?” Brodin asks.

“More complicated than that.” you reply.

“Alright everyone, we’ve done enough lollygagging about. Let’s get going back to the bathhouses or something.” Ada calls out.

“If we show up smelling like sewage that is going to be a bad thing.” Wilhelmina states.

“...Great, now I remembered that I’m covered in who knows what...” you mutter to yourself as you try to shapeshift, but it still won’t go through. “Argh! I still can’t shapeshift!”

“Spells that shut down demonic hiding abilities last for a while. Given it was a pretty powerful angel, I think it’ll last about 12 hours.” Uilodsir replies.

“Ugh...” you complain.

Well first thing you need to do is clean up, no question there. The longer this smell goes on the harder it’d be to get rid of. Second is that you need to get some fresh clothes for yourself, but the clothes of the Laminian you were impersonating won’t fit now. Thirdly is the problem of the Pride Demons likely increasing security up above, and while travelling as a succubus in Old TO isn’t something you fear, you think that using the same form as your body double with demonic traits out would ask the wrong sort of questions...
>>
>>30327006

Could we use water control to purify the water here to give ourselves a quick wash-down? cloths can be done with solidograms, then we just play the waiting game. ask one of the others to bring us one of our books, or spend time catching up with dad...

We'll meet up with the others once we can shapeshift again, all we need is some directions from Ada, then we are good to go...
>>
>>30327006
Can we head to the Lamian village without going above ground?

If we can, that sounds like the best option. Get a room, get cleaned up, then just lay low 'till this wears off.
>>
>>30321724
It went specifically to our room first. It's a Draugr of us. The point of a Draugr is to beat down the person who they're made from. They're also disgustingly difficult to make, and the fact that it was made in a tech lab (basically Old-world genetics lab) suggests whoever is doing this has quite a bit of power (and the fact that the lab was wrecked suggests they were trying to make it stronger, and it seemed to feel they were only holding it back from it's objective, so murder was the default choice there).

So, as I said, it's coming directly after us, it's primary target. What it wants to do we don't know. I'd have to reread the old threads to figure out what might have had it summoned.

As to a cover, they'll most likely have seen the Draugr twice. Dio will start nondering what's going on and suspecting us. We should be VERY careful what we say, they'll be looking for lies, so we should try to tell the truth as much as possible.

>>30327087
We should do this. We may also want to explore these ruins before we leave. Maybe talk with anyone else, maybe Erika (if she wanted to talk with us).
>>
>>30327199
>It's a Draugr of us. The point of a Draugr is to beat down the person who they're made from.
Yeah, we know that, but others don't.

They don't know it's a Draugr. Even if they got a good look at its face, they wouldn't know it's made from our old body. We don't look much like that any more.

>Dio will start nondering what's going on and suspecting us.
If he becomes aware of this thing being sighted in Fort Hope before coming here. Yes, he'll suspect we're connected some how.

Since we can't tell him the TRUTH, we'll need something else to say. Since the first sighting was during the robot attack, it would only be natural to suspect its actions have something to do with the robot.

If we /really/ didn't know anything about it, and were looking in from an outside perspective, that's what I'd think.

It came out of the woodwork when an Old World war machine got loose. It went to ground when the investigation team came sniffing around, then attacked the castle when the investigators left.

When it didn't find what it wanted, it came to Old-To looking for us.
>>
>>30327385
We just have to be careful in what we say. If he's cunning, he may try to have someone ask us casually with lie detection, so we have to be careful of that. You're right that he doesn't know it's a Draugr, but the Pride demons obviously can detect Aether, and seeing the body here again along with what happened at the Tavern will raise suspicions.

What Dio knows of the attack would be awesome to find out. I suspect our double didn't say they were attacked specifically.
>>
>>30327556

one thing to remember, our double got attacked but he stopped at the last second. We know that person was a double. but the Pride demons don't.

“Ada, would the Laminian village be safe about now?” you ask.

“Should be. Arum probably put a call out to the more elite Laminians to guard the village, but it should be safe.” Ada replies.

“Let’s just head to the Laminian base. We can get cleaned up there and hang low until this all blows off.” you reply.

“Good idea.” Wilhelmina replies.

“Here’s hoping my wallet won’t be stolen again.” Nalika replies.

******

Upon getting to the Laminian village, you see the familia gate that you notice before, but this time it has several more visible guards up in front of it. You’d be happier knowing exactly how many are lying in wait in the shadows...

“Open the gate. We’re tired and we need a safe place to lie low.” Ada demands as she walks by the guards.

As she does so however, two more Laminian guards clad in leather armour step in front of her.

“W-What!? Denying a Laminian like me entrance to my own village!? I could understand the others, but what’s the meaning of this!?” Ada demands.

“With all of the shit that’s been going up on top? We heard that asshole who trashed our village was the same one who attacked our castle. Last time he was here, he *specifically* went after you guys!” The Laminian points out. “Two of the previous door guards were killed by that monster!”

“Arum stated that we could have safe passage to the village, so open this door at once!” Ada demands.

“Forget it! I’m not listening to an order which could attract that thing back here again!” The door guardian barks back to Ada.

"After reaching Old-TO, we received word that it attacked the castle, killed some guards, wrecked some stuff, then left." True
"We met it in person for the first time here in Old-TO. You probably heard about the bar fight. At the time, we didn't know the figure in the black robe was the thing that kill the previous Lord Langly." True
"From what I heard, the Pride Demon peace keepers killed it at the bar. The next we heard of it, the creature was attacking the castle where we were given rooms. We were all lucky to survive." True
"It seems obvious it attacked the castle in Fort Hope looking for us. Then followed our trail here. It seems clear it wants either Lady Marina or myself. Either to kill us or for some other unpleasant reason."True

"It's okay. It's dead. Again. It'll be about a week to ten days before it resurrects.” you reply.

“How can you be sure it’s dead!?” the Laminian replies.

“See this scythe?” Brodin asks holding up his bloodstained scythe. “I drove a bigger version of this directly through it’s chest cavity. Regeneration or not, it won’t be getting back up from something like that for a few days.”

“We just need to get cleaned up and lay low for a few hours. We'll be long, long gone before it comes back.” you reply.

The guards look you all over carefully, spending at least good solid few minutes looking over each and every one of you.

“...Fine.” the gate guard says as she motions for the other Laminians to stand aside. “But if that thing comes back to the gates here again, you’ll be the first people we’ll be throwing out to it!”

“Yea yea whatever, now let us in as we need to take a bath desperately.” Ada replies in an exasperated voice as she heads into the Laminian village.

As you head into the Laminian village, you remember again how much of this place is a pain for any full grown adults. Nearly all of the houses and shops are made for Laminians in mind, and you need to be careful unless you want your head to hit a doorframe or a street sign. At least this time you have nothing worth steeling.

“...Dad... Dad.” you call out to him.

Your father seems distant for a second before looking back down at you. “A-Ah yes?”

“You sure you’re alright? Your nose is bleeding.” you tell him.

“Hm? O-Oh! I’m sure it’s just nothing!” he says wiping his nose with his sleeve.

“If you say so...” you reply.

You make your way to a Lamanian bathhouse, and in fact it takes two tries to actually find a place that has adult sized baths. Ada doesn’t have much money on her right now, so you’re forced to take the group rate for some baths, with you being paired up with your father. The rooms themselves are fairly basic, being a large metal tub where hot water is poured into. The decor being a far cry from the Richardson bathhouses, with only wooden walls, a changing curtain, and a bucket filled with both a soap, brush, and other cleaning supplies.

Now normally you don’t mind being seen in a bathing towel. Hell in Fort Hope, where the Richardson’s made bathing part of the town culture, such things as being seen in a towel attract hardly more than a glance. But now that your father is seeing your figure for the first time like this, you can’t help feel a little bit ashamed about it. You wanted to have the typical male fantasy body. You know, big muscles, double chin, deep voice. Instead what you’ve got right now is a slim waist, big breasts, and absolutely no primary male sex characteristics whatsoever.

You blush as you walk around the corner, holding the towel close to you as your wings make it hard to wrap around you completely.

“That’s your natural body?” your father asks, already inside of the tub.

“Yes...” you reply with a blush as you walk over to your tub.

Your father leans back, staring up at the ceiling as you climb into the tub. “You certainly didn’t get those traits from your mother’s side.”

As soon as you get in, Arum seems to burst inside of the room alongside another Laminian dressed in what appears to be an oriental dress and katana at her side. Arum herself still wearing clothing which shows off her midriff without shame. “Brooklyn! I heard from the guards you arrived! Why don’t you tell me then what happened at the School! And... Why that man’s nose is bleeding...” she says pointing to your father.

"It seems my father is weak against Lamanians. I'm thinking about encouraging Ada to ask him out when we get home. As for why we didn't tell you, we needed to wash the stench of our escape route off before it drove us mad. We would have stopped by as soon as we were done here."

“W-What!? N-No no it’s nothing of the sort!” your father says as he reaches over to grab a handkerchief for his nose.
“You one of the head professors at that School?” Arum asks.

“Yes I a- was.” your father says after wiping his nose. “My name is Rand Browning, a scholar of history, folklore, arithmetic, and spellcraft.”

“Good. That should clear up the doubts that some other Succubi Leaders had about Brooklyn being a Celestian spy.” Arum states.

“Speaking of Celestia, you’ve already heard about the school?” you ask.

“Yea the door guards told me. I just put two and two together.” Arum replies.

“Yeah the short version is that we managed to rescue my Dad. I think we only levelled half the building so I guess it went better than expected.” you reply.

“Good, so I only need to worry about the village aspect. So I can reach my second concern, why in gods name did you invite Rebecca to send some Ayarians to the village?” Arum asks.

“...Eh? Are Laminians and Ayarians under a feud too?” you ask.

“No! This is Rebecca! If anything she’ll see a town like that a listening post! She’s going to sent scouts and spies up there!” Arum exclaims. “This point of this village was supposed to be a sanctuary of sorts, not a place which can attract potential heat!”

"I understand your concern. But we can't just exclude an entire Succubus clan without giving them a chance.
I've already told her the plan for the village, and I'll make it clear again, this isn't a military outpost. The point is, it's out of the way and will draw zero attention. Succubi can lead somewhat normal, free lives.

If she doesn't listen..... Well, it will be her own mistakes that exclude her. Not us. The village is a long way from here and right next to my own power base, so I don't think we have to worry about her stealing control of the project or anything."
>>
A bit off topic at the moment, but this reminds me; I want to talk to Rebecca and the Ayarians about the mental conditioning they can do.

I've been thinking about it ever since they mentioned the slaves.

Can they use it to help broken Succubi?

Providing a better option than just re-breaking them would be nice. Torturing a poor girl until her mind shatters to escape the suffering is.... Even if it really is for their own good, it's still pretty fucked up.

At some point I'd like to smuggle them out one at a time and try to help them. Probably have to fake their deaths to prevent unwanted questions.
Apart from the moral reasons for wanting to help them, they would also be an intel gold-mine.

A broken, completely trusted, Succubus servant. Can you imagine how much information they would pick up just by hanging around? Not even counting the ones that are actually used as field agents and are privi to records and stuff.
>>
>>30329953

You don't have to torture a Succubi to break them. Erika didn't have to torture Leona. the term is called 'Breaking' but it is a voluntary action. Pride Demon 'Re-education Centers' use torture so that the Succubi chooses to be broken over the continued suffering. Hell, Brooklyn could theoretically 'Break' herself to anyone, but the general issue with being 'Broken' is how easy it is for the 'Master' to accidentally 'reprogram' the 'Broken' Succubus.

Technically, Erika could just tell Leona to not care about celestia, and then Leona would be totally fine. The issue is the morality and ethicalness of changing a persons personality like that. Pride Demons likely see it as an easy way to 'personalise' their Succubi servants...

“That’s the problem Brooklyn! I *know* Rebecca! I used to work for her! The place where the village is going to be set up is a town that not only is buried in the ledgers of the Pride Demon bureaucracy, but also a town that is the Northernmost place before the frozen wastes. The main problem for the frozen wastes has not been the weather, but rather the distance back to any good listening posts. For Rebecca, this is too good of an opportunity to pass up!” Arum explains.

“Aren’t you being a little too paranoid Lady Arum?” you dad inquires.

“No! ...Maybe... Look I just don’t trust Rebecca when it comes to matters like these alright!? In fact knowing her, she’d probably invite that Draugr over for a drink just to thank him for the chaos he’s caused both the Pride Demons and Celestia.” Arum states.

“She... Wouldn’t actually help it right?” you ask.

“God no!” Arum guffaws. “Right now you’re a court mage in a minor nobility and is sooner or later going to find out that you’re the one who disrupted Celestia. In fact I’m wondering just why exactly that thing is after you so badly.”

Most likely, it's after me because of my 'sponsors'. I'm guessing it was created by a third party, someone not connected with the Pride Demons, but doesn't want the Succubi to get ahead either.

As for Rebecca. She seems like the Good Solider type, she'll probably follow orders if I show her my, y'know, 'sponsor'. She should respect her authority.

“Eh... Isn't the Aide leader a bit risky?” you ask.

“Yes, but at the same time she has the biggest payoff. She’s one of the heads of a church and has far more resources in nearly every area I can think of. While she is the leader of the Aide’s currently, she also commands respect from many other members of the church, most of whom will most certainly be loyal. In fact Aide’s are some of the most trustworthy partners, simply because both Aide mental conditioning and religious belief combine to give some very dedicated people.” Arum explains.

“Wait... You mean she abuses the Aide breaking flaw?” you ask.

“Believe it or not, those going into high risk jobs ask for it. Pride Demons have made a point just to kill Aide spies because they know if they’re from the church, then they will not talk unless the information is ripped directly from their minds and sometimes they don’t have a Greed demon on task able to do such a thing.” Arum explains.

The main issue is that you hardly rely on the church to be subtle. Rebecca for example is subtle. She knows how to hide her operations, even if something major is happening. The Aide leader lacks subtlety. You can tell her to keep it a secret yes, but it won’t stop her from launching her gear up operations, which will most likely be noticed.” Arum explains.

“Will they know the reason?” Your father asks.

“If the Aide leader wants to keep it a secret to herself then it’s most likely secure. I’m just worried that with the security and temperment of the local Duke Lord Dio finding out that the Aide leader is putting a massive amount of resources weapons manufacturing, then he’s going to be put on even more of an edge.” Arum explains.

Wondering could we direct it into more of a non lethal aid and make it seem like she is not gearing up for war but helping the poor?"

because articus is a lord?
>>
Or, you know, we could ask whichever queen we have talk to her to talk to her about this as well. "Don't mobilize like crazy." is a pretty simple order.
>>
>>30334174
From what I could gather Baron<Lord<Duke<Queen/King<Empress
>>
>>30334226
>lord is below duke

thats just silly
>>
>>30334226
Aren't lords, kings and emperors actually the same thing, only with different offices?
>>
>>30334282
We've come across one duke at the moment and she was vastly more powerful than us even though that might be due to time spent being alive.
>>30334316
The current queen were upgraded from whatever they were after beating a demon trying to become emperor, the various titles allow you to learn things more easily and faster though we don't know at which rate.
>>
>>30334191
Having the Aide Queen talk to her seems to be the plan. The problem is, from what everyone has said, she seems to be a bit zealous. Restraint could be an issue.

Jihadists aren't known for their ability to stay calm and restrain themselves.

The other issue is; we /want/ to build up our forces. We'll need them eventually for our plans.
We just need to do it under the radar so the Pride Demons don't see us and go LolNope.jpg

If she wants to build up for the coming battle, great, she just needs to do it smart. Building up power in the middle of nowhere, away from prying eyes, seems like the best move available to us right now.
>>

Derp, yes Baron.

Pardon me but I mess up on the ranks sometimes >>
>>
>>30334385
>We've come across one duke at the moment and she was vastly more powerful than us even though that might be due to time spent being alive.

Yeah, since we are outpowered by most things this can't be a real measure of station.

>The current queen were upgraded from whatever they were after beating a demon trying to become emperor, the various titles allow you to learn things more easily and faster though we don't know at which rate.

No, see that's what I meant. The titles don't give anything, it's the intrinsic nature of the demon. Brooklyn is a lord by nature but much lower in power and station, if the station changed the personal learning rate still wouldn't. If this was not the case you couldn't get something like Nalika, who is supposed to be an oddity for being common and born of her probably-empress mother.

>>30334226
In pretty much any place I remember this kind of hierarchy, Lords were just below Kings. The highest of the nobility, just before royalty.

Though I am only taking fiction into account. I don't think things ever get so clear cut in real life.
>>
>>30334622
we're not actually lower in station. Arguably higher in fact than a mere lord.
>>
>>30334622
Its Lord/Baron/Count/Duke/King/Emperor IIRC

What I have in my own notes directly:

DEMONS
Power tier: Imp, Normal, Lord, Baron, Count, Duke, King/Queen, Emperor/Empress
Greed Demon - Four armed fragile spellcasters
Envy Demons - Shapeshifter demons

i dont understand why brooklyn being a lord was always made a big deal out of then

and why is articus in charge, hes a lord too
>>
>>30334734
Articus was a count at the period of the invasion and it's been a while since then
>>
>>30334758
so if he was demoted by two ranks into almost-a-peasant, why is he still in charge of the whole world?
>>
>>30334734

The Pride Demons have an Empire spanning the multi-verse. Being the ruler of one planet isn't that high up the food chain.
>>
>>30334734

Articus was a Count when Earth was invaded yes, and since the war with Earth ended, he and the other nobles in charge of attacking Earth were each given a piece of it to govern.

Where was it stated that arcticus was demoted?

perhaps lord is sort of general title to any high ranking person?
>>
"Okay, so if she's to zealous to keep her head down and play the long-game... Maybe if we direct it?” you offer. “Fort Hope makes a good power base. Highly defensible, effectively zero oversight from the Pride Demons. She wants to gear up operations? Have her move all her extra operations to Fort Hope. Integrate with the population. Best of all worlds, we get to build up our forces, avoid scrutiny and help the Succubus overpopulation in Old TO."

“Hm... That could indeed work. Fort Hope would make an ideal base of operations.” Arum states. “Excellent mercenaries and very defensible. The only issue with it is the supply problems it tend to has.”

“You sure you’re alright with using your hometown like that Brooklyn?” your father asks.

“When the war against the Pride demons really kicks off, Fort Hope is going to be used one way or another. It’s in our best interests to secure it.” Arum states.

“Arum’s right Dad. Look at what the Old World did when the Succubi were in charge. There may be some issues, but they’re a hell of a lot less obtrusive than the Pride Demons.” you reply. “I’m going to see if I can have a meeting with Janette before I go. She’s both the tactician and the Aide Queen, so she’d be ideal to talk to in matters involving things like this. But what of the village project?”

“It’s a remote village. If everything goes right and Rebecca doesn’t fuck up, those people up there will live perfectly fine lives.” Arum replies.

(Anything else you wish to say to Arum here?)
>>
>>30334943
nah, im pretty sure these are meaningful power indicators

its just the situation with articus is really confusing
>>
>>30334970
Not really.
>>
>>30334823
I just used the past tense because it's the only time we got his rank, I'm pretty sure he is still a count if he didn't get a duke title.
>>
>>30334970
>The only issue with it is the supply problems it tend to has.
The way to fix that would be improved infrastructure and logistics. It would take some work, but we could do it.

Have some Succubi join the merc companies and work their way up the ranks. Gain better control of the military while strengthening it.
Expand the shitty green houses they already have, staff them with Succubi and use Earth Control to make the soil produce enough to feed the town.
Use the improved military to better police the area, sort out the ice raiders and spooks from the Haunted Forest. Improving trade routes and stuff.

Yeah, we can make this work.
>>
>>30335144
so why is he always called lord by everyone? especially with how hes a pride demon, youd think it would be a big deal to him
>>
>>30335202
For the same reason as Dio, it sounds better
>>
>>30335222
not to someone whos pride is everything to them, they would shovel as much praise and status symbols on themselves as possible
>>
>>30335279
You're seeing too far into it.

From last thread

but thats not how it gets used with articus, "demon lord articus" is how he gets referred to by everyone even outside casual language of that sort
>>
Also need to get to the bottom of the degur problem. after details for the village are finalized i need to figure out who is controlling it. As that is probably another can of worms and probably a big one since it has died again and whoever is controlling it seems to be very powerful if a reaper has problems killing it.

If you think i should be handling it a different way i would be open to suggestions.

So? People don't drag out his whole title in normal conversation.
I don't see anything strange about that.

add to that >>30335279 and it seems very strange to me

or we could ask that succubus we buy potions from and have her in our study circle, she is a master in the type of magic this issue is based on

we already did, i know, but last time we didnt actually give her any real questions, we just said "how about them draugrs, eh?" to her
>>
>>30335509
Good idea, seconded.
Ask if she has any people able to go down there and look about.

It's been a while, any trails have probably gone cold, but we might get lucky.

Offer to pay of course. She ain't runnin' a charity.

“Now if you excuse me, there’s a few matters that I need to attend to.” Arum says to you.

“Oh! Do you know of a good location where I can safely summon Janette?” you ask.

“Do it here. I’ll get the attendant to get some candles.” Arum replies.

“...Here? Really?” you ask.

“Brooklyn, only a handful of people know who the demon queens are. Secondly, you’re my guests in this village... At least so long as that Draugr is dead. Good luck Brooklyn.” Arum waves as she goes to leave the place.

“So are you going to summon one of those Succubi Queen’s then?” your face asks.

“Later. Soaking now.” you reply as you sink into the water. It’s far, far, far too long since you had a good bath.

******

After a nice long soak, you decide to get out and ‘borrow’ some of the spare light candles in the room in order to summon up Janine. You have to hand it to your Father, as even when Janette came out in all of her crimson glory, your Father hardly so much as blinked.

“Brooklyn.” Janette says to you wearing what appears to be and Old World camo uniform.

“Janette.” you reply back.

“What’s the occasion?” Janette asks. “...And who’s the man in the tub over there?”

Introduce our Dad. Tell her about the Church of Pamalie and the Aide leader.
Explain about her being a bit zealous and needing clear orders so she doesn't go charging off on her own and derail all our shit.
The plans to move forces to Fort Hope and build up in secret, ect, ect...
>>

"My father that I just rescued from Celestia. I'm going to have a talk with the Church of Pamille Aide leader and I wanted to give you a head up as I'll likely summon you during the meeting.I'd also need help on how to deal with her."
We should also ask our dad to fetch Leona.
>>
that is my father. Just rescued him from the collage that Celestia had going. the extraction was going well till the degur appeared and wrecked everything. It is dead now and brodin says whoever is controlling it is indeed very powerful as he was unable to reap it. My father suspects that it going after me is probably a side effect of whoever controls it which is worrying to me.

Want to finish setting up plans for the village first before opening that can of worms however. Anyway about the village we are going to be talking to the aide's leader next. I will have to summon you to secure her support and want to plan with you before i go and talk to her.

You don’t bother introducing your Father, instead you just look at him out of the corner of your eye.

It takes a few seconds before your father catches on. “Rand Browning, Scholar of Folklore, Arithmetic, history, and magic. I must thank you for taking care of my daughter in the meantime, but I’m so glad at how you... filled her out as a young woman.”

Janette laughs upon hearing your father. “I like your sense of humor. But no we didn’t do any cosmetic changes to Brooklyn aside from flipping one Chromosome. It’s amazing the amount of change that happens with a person.”

“Indeed. Brooklyn’s mother gave him that name originally because the town astrologer thought she’d be a girl before she was born.” your father replies.

“I was going to ask why he was named Brooklyn, but I didn’t want to question on whenever customs changed or not when I was gone.” Janette replies.

Well that backfired. “ANYWAYS, this is the father I have rescued from Celestia.”

“I bet that was easier said than done.” Janette replies.

“Well we had to deal with a Hero... Than my Draugr, then a Principality and his army, before finally running away from the Pride Demon army that was invading the college.” you clarify.

“...Pardon?” Janette replies.

“You heard me.” you reply.

“That... That goes beyond FUBAR...” Janette replies.

“It was quite suspenseful, but I missed most of it as I was on the ground paralyzed in pain for most of it.” Your father replies.

“But we came out of it with more questions than anything else. First is the Draugr. My dad thinks that it’s goal of killing me is probably secondary to what it’s really trying to do.” you reply.

“It’s been only about a week and a half since that thing was revived. In a way I think your father is right, but in this case the secondary may be close to it’s other actual goal.” Janette replies.

“...So killing me is the primary goal?” you ask.

“No. I got filled in from what Oksana’s kids told me, but with your added information I can fill in the gaps here. This thing attacked the castle trying to kill you, in the process angering the local Baron in the process. Then it turns around and attacks a Celestia college, forcing the Baron to follow it into the school.” Janette tells you. “If anything, I think it might’ve waited for you to make a move to the school just so it could aggravate the tensions between the local Celestia forces and the local Baron. It could be pure coincidence that it managed to track you to the school just at the exact moment, but it seems far too unlikely. It attacking the tower was most likely coincidence, but after seeing it’s mistake it simply made the best out of a sticky situation.”

"So his main objective would be to weaken the opposition for whatever plan his controller might be, an invasion maybe? Killing me would mean impairing your return while causing the church and Pride demon to fight would weaken both of them. On a good side the Draugr will be dead for at least 10 days, on the other hand I have my first hero wanting me dead. Do demon celebrate that kind of thing? Like a coming of age deal."
>>
>>30336756
"So could this be another pride demon making a play? Otherwise, could it be some third party playing as a benefactor of sorts, setting the other power blocs against one another?"

“You WHAT!?”Janette asks in shock.

“...I... Have a hero after me.” you reply.

Upon hearing this, Janette’s eyes begin to tear up, before finally she starts sobbing into her sleeve.

You silently look back to your father, seeing if you did something wrong. But from his shrug you guess that he’s just as much in the dark as you are.

“I can’t believe that our little Brookie is already getting a Hero to swear and bring her down...” Janette says removing herself from her sleeve. “It seems like it was almost yesterday that you were heading out into the world, all confused and overwhelmed by it all...”

“...So it is a big deal.” you reply.

“Oh yes! You can’t call yourself demon nobility unless you’ve fought against a hero! I remembered fighting my first hero as part of a hit contract back when I was a normal Succubus... Didn’t turn out well as how do you think I got this scar on my face?”

“Ouch.” you reply.

“Oh that’s nothing compared to what Janine did. She set up this whole elaborate spectacle once on luring and finishing off a hero and his group soon after she became a Queen. She doesn’t like to talk about that event anymore. Anyways if you’re going to have a hero after you, then you’re going to need the bare essentials. A castle, a small army, and loyal henchmen!”

You feel as if Janette is missing something. "But the Draug-"

"Screw the Draugr! No one ever got popular for besting a Draugr!" Janette retorts.

“Oh he won’t learn a thing.” Janette replies.

“If anything that Angel is going to tell him that it was all a test of his faith.” your father replies.

“...Seriously?” you ask.

“I worked there for more than 10 years. Yes I know how they work.” your father replies.

“Celestia doesn’t encourage such things as free thinking. They have their specifications on exactly what ‘good’ is.” Janette replies.

“Brooklyn I’ve had debates with Celestia professors to honestly believe that anti-demon spells work because they rely on the power of goodness. Literal goodness.” your father replies.

“...And you remained sane how?” you ask.

“Lots and lots of ‘holy blood’.” your father replies.

“But back on topic. The Draugr is important, as is talking to the current leader of the Aides here. She is the leader of the Church of Pamille, as well. Just imagine what a shine to her day it will add to hear the Queens are still around." you tell her.

“...Oh yea, the current Aide Leader is a Matriarch or something isn’t she.” Janette replies. “That’d be a real joy to see. I don’t mind my subordinates being faithful, but asskissing was always something I was a little uncomfortable with. Unless your name is Janine, then you can actually apply lipstick just by kissing her own ass.”

(What do you want to tell her now?)

"Well, for starters, she'd start gearing up, because her Gods are still alive, and the only true thing to do is throw off the yoke of the oppressors to her faith. Better death then not live up to their example." you reply.

“See, that’s the problem I have when dealing with religious folk. I just don’t understand this... I mean maybe I do a bit because I’m an Aide... The entire thing just confuses me. I’d be basically walking on eggshells when I talk to her. From what I heard, I know she’d want to bring the fight to the Pride Demons. At the same time she can’t do stealth and the Pride Demons will know she’s gearing up to do something, just as we’re right in the middle of a difficult time.” Janette replies.

“I suggested Fort Hope as a place where she can set up. Is that a better location?” you ask.

Janette stops to think for several seconds. “...Yes, yes it would be. Fort Hope is basically a no man’s land for the Pride Demons, in fact it’s so rare that anything above imps or fairy elementals is quite rare up there.

“Would it also be a bad idea to introduce Leona to the Church of Pamille right now?” you ask.

“You’re going to have to wait until tomorrow anyways. The Pride Demons are going to be dropping you off at you new place. “I think it has something to do with them growing up in the midst of humans and possibly because they’ve been extremely bored for the past 500 or so years.” you reply. “Anyways, I’m taking my time getting cleaned up.
