Previously: A young rocket suffers through feverish nightmares of weighted guilt and a conscience twisted. The phantoms of the metal mission haunting her ever failure. Those that she could have saved, those that she had promised to protect, and those that had not desired war brought to their door.

Awoken with a start, her panicked psyche urges her to attack the shadow of a friend, only for her evolution pains to erupt.

Coming to her senses, she found her comrades, the brave and musclebound ranger, and her old friend promoted urging information from a senior trainee, the one with secrets and a strange accent.
After an embarrassing moment with her strapping friend complimenting her, she's whisked away into a world of fashion magazines only to come out of it when she realizes that those things don't much suit her, being more for civilians after all.
Bidding that girl-time its own farewell, she goes on to visit her friend in the hospital only to find that she's been twisted by her surgery in ways that the Young Rocket could not have imagined.

How will she react to this most grave cutback on medical care?
Stay tuned Rangers!

She'll end up developing a warped sense of ethics wherein everything that Cerulean approves of is absolutely correct no matter what. It'll be fun. Remember, Lilac, "What Would Cerulean Do?"

We'll probably learn about our next mission.

I wonder how that will work with lilac. She is new, so we cant take her to mission, teamwork is essential for missions and she needs training for that. But she is our responsibility now and we cant just leave her be.
Probably Boss will somehow ensure that she will be safe and looked after till we return.

potential old yeller route
>>
You're escorted from the secure recovery area by Professor Hemlock. On the elevator he's silent for some time after his last words about what would happen to Lilac.
He could place Lilac under your care as a “handler”someone tasked with keeping some of the more dangerous rangers from going out of hand, helping them integrate into the program and overall reigning in their less than savory behaviors.

You were kind of bothered by the whole thing honestly. Aside from the relocation the man hadn't really spared much more thought or given mind as to the fate of the nurses- people.
Even now, he only seems to be silent in this chrome tube they call an elevator to spare your own feelings. Why is it like that?

“If it's any consolation, others have been through the program before.”
You don't say anything, just staring ahead listlessly as he goes on, breaking the uncomfortable silence of the elevator's hum.
“It doesn't often take long for rangers in this circumstance to regain or form cognitive function of how they should be acting as soldiers. If Giovanni approves, she'll be in your care. That is, so long as you are willing to take up the responsibility.

Given it came from the Spire, and how Lilac spoke to it , there's a real possibility that it is alive, or rather, undead.

Was the sword used in all the deaths?

In which.case Lilac might not be completely responsible.

You kind of look down, into your own blurry unrecognizable reflection in the chrome. “Yes sir...”
Yet something still weighs upon your conscience.
“The nurses...”
“What about them?” Hemlock looks back down to you with his rather condescending glare.
“Is Remedy okay? She helped me during my own surgery... I remember that she held onto me.”

”Remedy lost her arm during that incident. She's retired.”
“Oh.” You resume your downcast stare as the elevator carries on.

“Are there a lot of rangers that this happens to?” You grip the fur of your arm affectionately, recalling Lilac's sinister red eyes complimenting her own ambers.
“We witness them now and again. It tends to be more prevalent with monsters that have a disposition for thoughtless carnage. Do you recall a time where you've had any such incidents? Since your surgery we've deduced that the Crytten family does have its own tendency to...” He trails off at that point, falling back into silence.

The two of you return to the professor's office, though he deals with some aide's questions on the way back.

“If it doesn't fit in their body, then break it apart, it'll catalyze the surrounding cells.”

“A low M will require less invasive procedures as their healing and adapting factor is lowered.”

“That's an interesting color, send me biopsy details by this evening.”

At the office, you find yourself too held up by your anxieties to take a seat until told to.
You sit in a plush chair, curling your tail around out of the way as you stare at some of the trinkets upon the desk.

Hemlock gets on the phone, speaking to Giovanni about everything in a bunch of adult terms about Lilac.
After a bit, the conversation shifts to you.
“Ah, Cerulean. Giovanni wanted to know if you've made your decision about your evolution. Would you like to permanently become a water type?”

So, with Subject #8010, Lilac, you'll formally immerse her into the Rocket program by virtue of being 'uniquely skilled,' yes. All that's left then is...”
Hemlock looks to you, and taps something on his desk.

“You are being recorded for a vocal contract. Subject#8010, otherwise known as Lilac will be taken into your custody as a Handler. You recite everything and state that you'll take care of Lilac. It's sufficient for Hemlock and he jots some things down while he's on the phone,”We'll let you all know when 8010, Lilac is stable enough for conditioning. We'll require biweekly psych-evals with Cerulean in attendance.”

He hands you a piece of paper to sign and goes over a few other things.

“She'll be outfitted with a Volt Collar, and you'll have a tether remote. If she distances herself from you, she'll receive a tingling sensation before an outright paralytic charge. You can also deliver as such by holding down the button of the device for two seconds. A tap will deliver a warning charge and a one second hold will deliver a more stunning shock. None of this will endanger her monstrous physiology will keep her life from being in danger from this treatment.
It is to be used to keep her from hurting others, not as a toy.”

“Yes Sir.” You nod to the professor as he finishes the paperwork up.
”You're free to leave now. Return tomorrow for examination. Oh, and incidentally, this program exempts you from away missions that exclude your charge.”

You leave the office, finding your way back to the lobby. There's kind of a bitter taste in your mouth with all that's happened, though knowing that boss trusts you with turning Lilac into ranger material makes you flutter a bit, helping your spirit.

It's just getting into the afternoon.

You leave the bureau, at once considering what you'd do with the rest of your free day, what-with your growing pains.

At the Tram-line you're surprised to require your electronic ID scanned and confirmed by the system.
“You're approved to go to Veridian, Cerulean, Fuschia, and Pallet. Our recently reactivated security terminals will require you to confirm your ID before entering the platform. Forced entry will autonomously alert the Civic Guard.”

You get on the Fuschia line when it arrives, figuring that it's been a while since you've seen Janine. She might have a good word for all of this, though you might not want to use Lilac's name.

You look outside of the window as the city-scape of Pallet slips by at a breakneck pace. The people for this ride ignore you, keeping to themselves.

Out of all the citizenry, you'd probably say that Fuschias are the most respectful of all rangers with a unique pride in their own. It's likely due to the fact that Fuschia's such a small quarter literally founded by the Koga clan as they've gone back quite a ways. Toxicology and ninjutsu weren't thought to be necessary aspects of the dome, yet it's proved worthy in reverse-engineering poisons. Turning them into anti-venom, medicine, and other useful drugs that gives Celadon a run for their money.
Then again, Celadon is the shoppi- Eh?

You start to think about what Lilac had said about Geruteena or whatever it was called when the tram's belt lights come on for the sudden stop.

You head through the simplistic traditionally minded quiet grounds of Fuschia with the occasional silk and bug farms. You could go for some roasted cicadas... You remember the one time a few years ago that mom brought some to you. So good... Your mouth waters as you wipe away a sliver of cold drool with your furry arm.

The Gym's grounds are wide and intricate as always. You bow to the guards, stating your purpose and get directed to the Dojo. They tell you to be mindful and quiet.

As you near, you hear the sounds of training, and the lightest steps that these highly trained Rangers take. If it's louder than the pat of a rattata they are scolded by an instructor and then whipped by a bamboo rod.
You patiently wait for the match to be called to a halt before sliding open the door whilst kneeling and stating who you are and requesting entry.

“You may enter.” You hear Janine's voice state before you enter fully, looking up at what's going on inside.

Haru and Talse are inside with Janine, all three of them blindfolded. You notice that Janine's sporting Zubat ears and her fingers have turned into deep scarlet claws, the rest of her hands and arms covered by bandages, her sleeveless Kunoichi uniform preserving her modesty while keeping her movements unhindered.

Talse's ears flick to you, larger than you recall, his horn longer and prouder as well,” We're continuing, right?”
“I could use a break...” Haru's retreated to a part of the room to get himself some much needed water, keeping his back to everyone while his bat ears move like a radar.
Other students shift about idly, awaiting their turn. Similar augmented ears adorning their heads.

I just don't want us to roll a 1 on a roll that shouldn't have any negative effects besides maybe locking us out of Blindfighting for awhile and then all of the sudden our arms are tatters.

But whatever is cool, it'll give us more downtime to spend with Lilac. I just wanted to get back to training.
>>
You change into a gi and don the blindfold, entering a world of darkness which is actually quite strange to you considering the fact that you can see quite well in low-light conditions.
Janine explains that there are situations where you may lose your eyesight or be faced with absolute darkness. “This exercise is to prepare us for when that happens. We'll be using basic strikes for this without feints due to your level. We'll be doing full-force training due to our enhanced constitutions. ”
“Wait, full hits Janine?!”
“Yes, Koga training philosophy. Practice as though it's the real thing. Then treat the real thing as though it's practice.”

You hear Janine step away, lightly on her feet, barely touching the floor.”This is also an exercise in how quiet you can be. Talse will face you first.”

You take the stance that you'd learned from your practice with Fuschia over the years, as soon as you set your foot down, you hear a sudden shift and a fist drive home into your stomach, pressing firmly through the fat of your flesh and into your hardened rock-like abdominals, forcing you to slide back without being winded. You toes claw against the protective mats upon the floor, the noise of the tear a precursor to a second strike to your face and then a backfist blow to the side of your head causing you to reel as you fumble to defend yourself against the Talse.
Your ears pick up a shuffle, and you move to block,
but it's wrong.

Your legs are swept, sending you sprawling into the mat instinctively upon all fours. You hear another move, and put yourself into a forward tumble, suddenly hearing silence from the other end.

You get up, and realize that you've lost your orientation as your ears flick, trying to pick up something, anything.
The squeak of the mat hits your ears. Behind? The Side?

You turn to face as you throw a reflexive punch, yet you catch nothing and eat a hard knuckle to the chin, forcing you to clench your teeth as true darkness takes over.
>>
===A short time later===

Your eyes flicker open, taking in the paper-filtered light of the Fuschia aesthetic.
“Ah, she's awake.”
Dimly aware, you move your hand to your jaw, feeling just about how sore it is. That was a hard hit. You thought you trained your jaw better...

Janine kneels beside you, having donned an elegant yukata woven with a story to tell.
“Sorry about that Cerulean, my knuckles were harder than I thought.” Talse speaks from outside of the room, a shadow behind the screen.
“We'll have to do this again sometime, you seemed a bit troubled by something...”

“I'm just well...” You sit up as you gather your senses, still touching your jaw tenderly.
“I'm evolving... And there's a friend that I'm worried about...”
You frown besides yourself and your eyes are drawn to the screen.
Janine gets the message,”Talse, you are forgiven, leave.”

You hear the pattering of fleeing footsteps as Janine turns back to you, her unwavering dual pair of eyes lit by the filtered light.
“Tell me of this friend Cerulean.” A command, not a question. Very much like Janine even to those that she considers friends. Which you'd probably count as few.

we got Brock and Erika at a type advantage in Ceru's favor
Psybeam should help with Koga
Giovanni is still ground type right?
Blaine is still around right?

misty is a stalemate
Sabrina...we got some evil moves...still not so confident with that one.

so any ideas on dealing with Surge? the only thing I can think of is the previously mentioned Seaking's Lightingrod ability (what is Prof's stance on hidden abilities?)

and I'm pretty sure he's got a magnemite graft or two on him (steel fucks up ice).

unless Bruise move tutors us a fighting move or dig or something (is that even a possibility?) I can't think of a way for Ceru to hang with Surge.
>>
>>30382716

According to google, Ice is fairly nonconductive, so we could try and shut him down with that.

As for Misty, I think Ice would work as well as it would let us neutralize her water attacks and she has no insulating fat like we do.

But Giovanni... that Ground thing. Yeah, let's not make assumptions there.

Brock is probably like Ultra-Bruise, and Erika is probably like Sanna, so we're probably in more trouble there than we think.

Yeah... this is not gonna be easy. Unless some of them are setting us challenges or noncombat tests, we're in trouble.

You're silent for a moment, looking up and into her stern gaze.
“Can we go somewhere that no one will listen in on?”
Janine removes a small white bone from her brassiere that she promptly places in her mouth,“A moment.”
Her ears flick shut firmly and she blows, sending a piercing screech that worms its way into your head, giving you a splitting headache.

After fifteen seconds of agony, she puts it back.
“What was that for?” You whine, your eyes just about spinning from the supersonic noise.
“Anyone that would've been listening has left. Tell me of your friend, you're safe here Cerulean.”

You bow your head, tugging at the cloth of your gi through your gloves.
“I can't tell you everything, because it wouldn't be right, but...”
You recount your tale of Lilac, not using her name, but telling her about the surgery, how she's changed, and how you're going to be- and feel responsible for her.

Over the course, Janine eventually closes her human eyes, nodding now and then and asking questions where appropriate and where you might be willing to disclose.

“That is a unique problem Cerulean,” She sighs and relaxes some. Janine, the heir to Koga fading into just Janine while the two of you are alone.
You look down, avoiding her gaze,” Yeah, I know. I'm not sure exactly how I should feel about it.
Mom's told me that taking life is hard, and we're supposed to protect people from monsters but...”

“When your allies act as monsters and are forgiven, it's hard to know who to protect, right?”
You just nod to Janine, sniffing a little bit, trying not to cry in front of her.

You feel her hand plant itself firmly against your shoulder as her human eyes open, staring into yours with her own purple eyes. “Indeed my friend, this is quite the burden that's been placed upon you. I would say that you must do what you can for the ones that are still alive as the dead only have voice in the spire. Here in Fuschia, we are taught at a young age that we are to defend the dome with our lives. If we must die to accomplish this, then so be it. Your friend sounds like she goes against this and yet she could also do so much potential good if she proves to be strong and you are able to guide her in what is right.

Trust that you're doing the right thing Cerulean. If she won't lie to you, then you must be very important to her.” Janine gives you a reserved smile, and your chest heaves at her kind words.

Throwing your arms around Janine, you pull the Kunoichi into an impropmptu embrace, feeling her chest press against your own as you bring your fluffy face pressed against hers. At once Janine arches her back, and slides her face away from yours.
“Ceru- Cerulean. Stop-”
She begins to push you away, but you won't have that, and cling to her- full on hug!

“Ceru- don't-” She pushes you more firmly now, shoving you away, yet you still overpower her.
“Why? Why can't I-” Your face starts to feel numb, and in short time your vision begins to blur, the room slowly churning and spinning into a medley of colors.

Your stomach drops and you feel kind of sick, your grasp weakening and Janine finally pushes you off before pulling out something from a under her yukata.
“Sorry Cerulean, you forgot that I'm poisonous, didn't you.”

Oh. You slowly nod, grinning like an idiot as your vision continues to worsen. Lots of pretty colors. The walls are starting to melt too. The color's coming right off and dancing like water over your head.

You feel the sharp prick of something enter your neck, and in a few minutes your condition clears up.
“I should've reminded you. I sweat poison, and I'm laced right now. My hands are the only thing that don't collect it.”
She presents her crimson claws. Sharp and chitinous with odd little openings near the tips and at the palms. She presses a claw to the center and draws form a silken thread.
“It's not Venonat, so it's okay. But you need to be wary.”

“Sorry Janine...”

“So how are you doing with Talse and Haru? I didn't even know Haru still came to Fuschia to train.”

Janine's mouth upturns into something of a frown as her eyes look off at nothing in particular,”I'm not really sure what to think of the two of them. They're both useless in their own ways and neither have really put forth a lot of effort to try to claim me. Also, despite their most valiant efforts I always put them down to the mat.”
Janine crosses her arms with a troubled look,”I have no idea why Honorable Grandfather Koga would choose such weak men to be considered for the role of my husband.”
“Are you serious? Talse knocked me out you know...”
“Talse's been doing Blindfight training working on four years now and he wasn't holding back the way he should have. Another reason why he's so useless.”
“But you said full force-”
“-And basic techniques which he didn't use. He threw a feint when he heard you turn and countered you perfectly.”

“He still went about it wrong. That's not going to train you. It's why he apologized earlier.”

“Because I made him to.”

"For the last time Talse- the Batgirl jokes aren't funny, and I'm not ever wearing that costume to bed."

"Haru, so help me Arceus, tell me how you can kill a monster with your eyes closed, but you can't piss in the dark without painting the fucking walls?!"

...Talse and Haru are kind of... well, I wouldn't ever ship Ceru with them, and I can't blame Janine for not wanting to marry them, but she's not really making it any easier on herself.
>>
>>30384515
We really don't all know that much about the two, aside from Haru being shy and openly infatuated with Janine while Talse is more straight forward and like Bruise (but without the joviality or goofiness).
>>
“What about who they are? Anything there?”

Janine stares at you for a moment, her purple eyes meeting yours with a squinted stare before turning away,”I don't see how that's really relevant. I'm judging them by how good they are. Talse tries too hard to be noticed while not respecting what he should be doing as a member of Fuschia while Haru, despite being part of the rockets never really seems to try hard enough. He looks at me a lot too, it's weird.”
She sighs, and leans back, breaking her usual posture to look up at the ceiling.

“So... Is there ANYONE you're interested in? Anything good about those two?”

Janine seems to mull over the first question a bit. At first her face is placid with a thoughtful expression. Then it flushes with a little bit of rid, next a big grin that's hastily corrected into a calm little smile.
“Wh-why... I guess it'd have to be that guy from our Veridian Forest test a couple years back.” She withdraws into something of a show. Smitten look as she considers this.

You can feel both of your eyelids twitch. No, it can't be Goldie. It'd have to be...
“Bruise?”
She seems to come back to this world for a moment,” Oh, so is that his name? Yeah, he was very reliable. Is he still like that?

“Yeah, he's like a brother to me. We worked on some really important stuff and he was really calm about it the whole way. He's not like most other...” You consider what you're about to say and think better on it,” He's like other boys, only a lot more reliable.”
“Really... Huh.” Janine's reserved smile twists a little bit into a frown as one of her insectoid claws brushes at her cheek, “It's too bad that he isn't a Fuschia or even poisonous... I'm not sure if he could ever build up any real resistance.”

You let her have that note to consider things while you ponder whether you should tell Talse, Haru, both, or neither what they're doing wrong.
Or if you should try to get Janine and Bruise together somehow... At the very least, they both commit themselves fully to training.

It... could actually be a pretty cute pairing... Even if Bruise wouldn't be with Kitty- if he's with Kitty.

You kind of frown at that. Something doesn't exactly feel right about that.

I'm considering Bruise/Kitty.

Goldie is too submissive and Ceru's too shy to try anything.

Lilac freaks out everybody except Ceru, who's still getting used to her freaky shit.

But Bruise is bold enough to try things to get attention, even with someone as dangerous as Kitty, whether it's for training or poon. So I like that pairing better, if only because it'd be a lot more humorous.

“Excuse me Janine, I should be getting back now.” You bow before your friend in her home, a and she reciprocates, coming out of her little uncharacteristic daydream.
“Ah, right. I need to return to my training. A Kunoichi's work is never done after all.”

You leave through the sliding screen and double back around some of the facilities as you're leaving, running into Haru first. He seems kind of distracted by something as he usually does. Daydreaming and what-not.
After a brief interruption to his thoughts you tell him quite tactfully of how Janine just thinks of him as a slacker and how he'll need to put forth real effort to win her eye.

“Ah, I kind of figured as much...” Haru seems to trail off, troubled by something he doesn't exactly seem interested in telling.

>In either case, it'd be net 0 success even if I did do that. Neat thought though.
Well, it's the thought that counts. Knowing that we failed a roll at 0 successes is better than the idea of having negative successes.

It's why we get really excited with big numbers. Bigger is better, Prof!

You aren't really too interested in pestering him any more about whatever he doesn't want to say and start to move on to find Talse when you hear Haru call you from behind.
“Hey Ceru, Haru's back at the Dojo if you're looking for him.”

You blink back at him, a bit dumbfounded that he'd give you the location of his apparent rival.

When you get to Talse, he's in the middle of sparing with another Fuschia. After a brutal series of blows, the other nin is blown away, rising up with a groan as he flashes his surrender.
Talse gives you a quick little bow in greeting.
“Sorry again about before.”
“Yeah, it's alright, look...”

You relay the same thing to him and he listens intently, nodding through the fact that Janine doesn't like him showing off and would prefer he act more professionally.
“Huh. I wouldn't have guessed it was like that. Thank you, I'll see what I can do about that...” He seems a bit disappointed, yet at the same time heartened by the fact that he's got a better grasp of what's running through Janine's head.

After changing into your normal clothes, you leave Fuschia's Dojo.

All's well in a day of work after all... Work? No, you're not working.
As you leave, you notice your index's check mail light is flashing.

It's from Alexis

We should at least notify someone that we are going there. Like Bruise or Goldenrod or Giovanni or something. So if we disappear for a long time they will know where we went.
>>
You rush on over to the Saffron Quarter, finding your way to the gym with gusto after replying that you were on your way.

You meet with Alexis out in the front and she guides you inside, walking the eerily empty halls of the sinister gym and its metallic red inner walls.
“What does Sabrina need me to do?”
(The Hybrid has been locked away in a psi-kill chamber to hamper his abilities. We require a non-psionic for interrogation as he shuts off his mind when we try to remove him and force entry.
He's bad at covering his hypnosis, but he's a highly trained Esper.)

You swallow as Alexis teleports you through a series of chambers until you're standing before Sabrina and another adult with a note and paper ready. A pin of a Golden faerie reveals this person to be a member of Silph Co.
“Good of you to come, Cerulean.” Sabrina's emotionless glare is betrayed by her stayed, condescending tone. “Right this way...”

You begin to say what Alexis filled you in on until Sabrina cuts you off with an “I know.”
“We require you to provoke the creature within however you can. It's mind is strong but it's naive and spiteful. Its disgusting parents have not yet been captured.” Her grim outlook breaks through at once before the mask reforms.
“Pester it with questions and taunts in the psikill chamber. Make it know who you are.”
You just nod to the woman but then you wonder...
“Because it knows you hurt its mother and were an accomplice to the burning of the village.”
You start to ask about the village...
Her voice is impatient yet practiced.“We haven't been able to find everyone that's lived there. Most of all, not the yellow monster in your hound's report. Any other questions?”

>[] (At all?)
>>
>>30385975
That's not really a lead pipe cinch for me, anon. Maybe she bled out, maybe the wound got infected, does Ni'aras have the means and know how to treat the wound? Did it just wound her?

>The door opens, and you fall through, into the arms of a woman with flowing blonde hair.
>She looks down to you, her eyes glassy and dead like Chuck's.
>Ni'aras's wife.

Ceru is convinced she killed her and until I get some evidence that satisfies me that says otherwise, that's the side I'm rolling with.

The problem is that they can't mind-break it unless it's out of the psi-kill.

Without any further questions you're set forth to enter the psi-kill chamber.
Within there's a black velvet material lining the walls, and a strange absence of sound all around as something comes in through the speakers positioned at each corner of the room embed in the ceiling.
To you, this room just makes you suffer what feels like a dull humming sensation in the back of your mind... But to the Hybrid that's beyond a a layered screen of glass and impromptu speaker?

It must be a lot like that whistle Janine blew earlier, only you can't hear it.

The hybrid... the kid sits there looking miserable and pale with his left shoulder patched up yet soaking its way slowly through the bandages along with puss as the burn tries, works to heal.

He looks up at you, his face just about flawlessly human, more so than most rangers.
Cerulean, the rocket comes into play.

Rather, he doesn't have a conscience like us. I'd wager that he's got a rather tribalistic mindset. Unlike how collectivist everyone in the dome should be, the hybrid and everyone else in the village were probably raised to care only about their own group of people. While his father and mother may advocate peace, it's mostly to keep themselves safe than any altruistic intentions (probably).

Mom said that monsters that just want to live in peace and not cause trouble should be allowed to do so.

They were not the peaceful live and let live monsters that mom was talking about.

>>30386436
>Ceru knows that hybrid is just a shit. His dad was a pacifist. His mom was a human. She knows that his murderous impulses are not anything but him.

If you were Cerulean in the middle of monster territory would you:

>A: Avoid and/or kill as many monsters as possible that may threaten your life or the dome's.
>B: Try to make friends with the monsters of which you're rather certain at least 99% want you dead

The Hybrids POV?

In any case, I'm tallying the previous and writing the first step of the interrogation.
Honestly I'm less interested in the hybrid as a party member. I still want you guys to learn what he knows which is part of this scene.
>>
>>30386538
Ni'aras was, though. He kidnapped children to set up his village. And while that's pretty horrible, he didn't seem to have any intention of continuing that. Just steal supplies.

You sit down at the little chair in front of the barrier as the hybrid slowly comes to acknowledge you, his face twisting slightly in a mix of anger and fear. You tuck your feet and arms into your form, sitting up straight and proper as you stare right back ahead at the hybrid from the other side of the looking glass.

“Do you know who I am?”
The creature glares at you balefully for some moments, refusing to speak until you begin to repeat the question.
“You're... The one that hurt mama.” He sneers at you, his face haggard from his state of pain, aging him at least ten years.

You shake your head slowly, treating this all very delicately. You're very well treading on broken glass. No redos here.
“I didn't mean to hurt your mama, I was just trying to get away from your papa. He's been tricking your mama for a long time.” Things you faintly remember from before the hypnosis, it seems that he didn't bother to erase your mind. Ni'aras.
The Hybrid shudders, some degree of monstrous rage welling within his body,”No! You hurt mama! She loves papa, you don't know anything you stupid eevee!”
You're taken aback a little bit, blinking at that comment.

“Well, I'm not an eevee...”
“Shut up! Yes you are. Stupid E-eevee!”

Time to change the subject,”Why did you kill those people?”
The hybrid's lip quivers and he looks away, breaking eye contact,”I don't know.”
You repeat the question for the same answer. Something about his face though, he seems a bit upset by it since you've brought it up.
Something troubling him.

“You know that if you hadn't killed anyone... Hadn't murdered any people, you wouldn't be sitting here here right now. We wouldn't have gone to your village. You wouldn't have lead us to them.” You speak calmly and clearly so that the words hit home.

The Hybrid slouches,”To keep our place safe.”
He doesn't seem to be particularly mournful of the fact. Something that you too would hate. It's the same situation where you wouldn't be about to negotiate your way out of the mess.
“It.. all went wrong, didn't it?” He begins with sniffles before blubbering out.

This is going to take some effort...

Thank you and thank you. I had to warm up to start with though.
I can answer questions for either quest right now if you'd like. I just can't focus well enough on writing this late.

I have, it's great. And Devon actually does wear a jacket. Made no mention of its fireproofing though.
>>
>>30386914
Ok. So for Overlimit I wanted to know if a transmutation type thing would be possible to add to the unlearned spells category.

It should be possible. The Handler from the first Overhuman spliced animals together and edited DNA, so transmuting some items should be possible for Asher. It would branch off the Materia Firma, the justification / flavor text could be something like "Through greater study into the alteration of the properties of objects, you have discovered how to alter matter in ways that does not require constant magical input to sustain." or something.
>>
>>30386914
Nah, nah, it's fine to take a break. You've gonna run Overhuman tomorrow, right? Best to get a good night's sleep then.

And I would prefer it if, when giving facts and trivia about either quest, that you kept them on their specific threads. Makes it easier to sift through for information.
>>
>>30386914
Did you draw this, Prof? I remember you stating that you were interested in drawfagging a bit for your quests. If so, it looks pretty nice.
>>
>>30386929
Also, I was wondering what the limits are on the kinds of legendary items are craftable with Marteria Firma. Like, could we make a Philosopher's Stone with Master/Divine rank? Getting immortality seems like something someone like Asher would try to do.

And lastly, is it possible for Veins to do some kind of pseudo-lichdom type thing? It seems like something they might be able to pull off.
>>

Hey, Professor. How're you doing?

I know it's a weird question, but considering what you told us what happened recently, and the fact that 3 of the QMs of my other fav quests are suffering the curse and/or having troubles, I just wanted to check in, try and be friendly.

Yes. that's possible. It'll require LIMIT points to learn such a thing of course.
I'd actually had something like that in mind.
If you were to change lead into Gold, that's a change that's consistent with the natural laws of the world.

>>30386948
Materia firma leads into and can end up becoming more general or more specific enchants
Right now it'll only affect water magic. After leveling it'll become applicablt o some other realms of magic you know.

A cantrip(Combination of spells that has overall reduced drain) will be necessary to make/summon enchanted items of that sort.

Summoning/Enchanting is pretty much what it takes.

Yes, Veins can achieve something like that as they grow in power. They're the ones that follow "different" rules.

Mm. Yeah, I actually know that feel, though I never had the chance to really talk with my dead beat of a dad. He was leaning more towards the asshole type, and abuse type, so I was more thankful not to have him around, he was a scumbag. I've had the old 'lie to my face' type stuff too, along with the buttered up technique. It's an odd sort of sour feeling, or at least it was for me.

Still. I'm glad to hear you're not too bad, all things considered. What little I know about you, you seem like a cool guy.
>>

Things like that is exactly what I had in mind.

>A cantrip(Combination of spells that has overall reduced drain) will be necessary to make/summon enchanted items of that sort.
>Summoning/Enchanting is pretty much what it takes.

I'm guessing that we'd need to summon something up that is almost a PS and then Materia Firma it until it's a true PS? I guess thoughtform might work. Maybe. I dunno.
Fuck. I'll just have to think on it when we actually get summoning and MF high enough.

To go the same course of the Magna Opus, I'll need Asher to learn and get acquainted with the four cardinal elements before Alchemy is available. That's some powerful shit.

One of my earlier ideas had Asher binding a thoughtform based off of Leviathan into Alchemy, creating an entity that literally caused chemical and magical reactions simply by locomotion.
Living Alchemy.

When everyone's OP no one is.
>>
>>30387112
As someone who has yet to join in on the quest, can I ask for a brief summary of what Asher is capable of and what the players want him to learn next?

>To go the same course of the Magna Opus, I'll need Asher to learn and get acquainted with the four cardinal elements before Alchemy is available. That's some powerful shit.
Trying to make sure I got everything straight. That is referring to the making of PS and other really high-end stuff and not more basic elemental transmutations?
>>
>>30387125
Asher is currently capable of sensing the location of and manipulating water and only water. He can initiate state change to shift it into Ice and Steam along with casting superficial images into the surface of the water-bodies.

Aside from that he's also capable of summoning creatures from mythos along with thoughtforms and either giving them a simple action to perform or binding them through a negotiated contract.

His abilities coming around next thread are going to be improved summoning and the ability to enchant water to become solid without a state change.

Wall of solid steam, orb of hardened water. The idea behind it is that it it allows him to begin the bending of physical properties.

Next I think the players might be going for water or aerokinesis.

>>30387167
Fire>Water>Wind>Earth=Alchemy
Alchemy= basic transmutations and eventual PS.
You need to learn the basics and the mythical theory behind alchemy is the manipulation of the cardinals.

Oddly enough, an Over might start with Alchemy while needing to learn the cardinals in reverse if they want to use them effectively.

Alchemy could = Create steam from water!
But it would lack the water manipulation to control it after that.

In this case, you need the magics to learn the Alchemy.
The question is- are you going to strive for alchemy while forgoing the more advanced states of 1-2 elements?
>Water becoming akin to life and death and no longer requiring the physical components.
>Fire equating to destruction incarnate and even purification and rebirth
>Earth equating to metals within aging and wisdom...

The way I've set it up, you could focus on one thing and still be about as effective if you focused in several and combined them in new ways.
>>
>>30387212
I kinda wanted to take on an Oath of Blindness to boost up hydrokinesis, and just use small summons and the water sense to see our surroundings.

But the other players don't really like that so it's whatevs
>>
>>30387212
Ok. Well, we still need Air, Earth, and Fire to unlock Alchemy.

Air is currently in the unlearned list.
Fire is unlocked through more steam. (or should it be in unlearned already?)
And I assume Earth would unlock from getting more ranks in Ice? It seems right.l Learning to manipulate solids and all that.
>>
>>30387212
Don't forget the Oath of Defense or whatever name you decided on for Ice.
>>
>>30387212
Well, here's an idea.

How hard would it be to make raindrops as hard as bullets? Because I can see Asher creating a literal shower of bullets from manipulating rainclouds and having them drop their payloads on enemies from up above. I'm not sure of how fast they'd be going, but they'd be able to easily reach terminal velocity before landing on anything or anyone, right? And if the water droplets could be manipulated to be as hard as bullets, that would really cut down on the drag forces. Maybe even shame them into more streamlined shapes to make them fall down even faster. Bullet showers. Could be useful. I don't know.

>captcha: pledge moeovede

Captcha is saying that Asher should take an Oath of Moe, Prof. You know what to do.
>>
>>30387212
So what exactly is the difference between alchemy based around the cardinal elements and alchemy that is based around the principles of Materia Firma?

I'm just having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around how alchemy branches off of elemental control rather than the ability that's based around altering the properties of matter.

I mean, if you just want to say that it's game balance and magic I don't gotta 'splain shit, then that's cool. But it's a tad confusing.
>>
>>30387212
>>30387310
OR HELL. Alchemical rain than transforms everything it falls on into liquid. Or solid. Or gas. OR MAYBE RANDOMIZE IT ALL SO THAT EACH DROP DOES SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

Pure chaos.
>>
>>30387310
I don't think that would actually be useful. Lots of overs develop ways to defend against bullets and bullet-like projectiles because they're so damn common. This is canon.

The bullet clouds would also take a ton of energy to do because we'd be doing constant magic input to maintain the MF on the cloud after you whip up the storm with weather manipulation.

So it would be a massive energy drain that would be relatively easy to defend against.

You'd be better off just transmuting the whole cloud into deadly acid.
>>
>>30387351
As I've said, I know nothing about the quest aside from it being MAGIC and from what Prof has said here.
>>
>>30387361
Well, if you decide to join be sure to read the archives and hit up the question time discussions and stuff.

And this whole conversation is way higher power level than it's at right now anyway. This is like hyopthetical thread 100 shit. Right now Asher is nearly knocking himself out every time he does a spell that doesn't suck ass.

The only useful thing he has in comparison to everyone else is that he can keep himself dry in spite of the quest thus far taking place in a flooded shithole and where everyone else at his level is wet and miserable. His ice banshee summon thing is pretty deadly, but he can't sustain it for even a minute before he almost passes out.
