Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Lolis, Killers, Explorers, Robbers.

YOU ARE LOLI,

The entirety of yesterday was spent with you and Vasa playing tag outside the station under the guise of survival training. Today, however, adventure awaits. You were woken in the early hours by your PDA, Ice calling and asking for the other girl who told him to do things. You handed the device to Kris, who listened closely, before hanging up and scrambling the three of you to the entrance of what may well be Kiyiya's hidden base: a network of underground tunnels, spreading out across the entirety of Yanov.

"It's... a hole." Vasa stares blankly at the hole. "Most probably a mutant hole, at that."

"Still," Kris intones, "it's the best lead we've got. Volunteers to go first...? No? Fine..." She takes a few uncertain steps forward, pulls her torch and pistol free, then drops into the hole in the ground. Vasa looks uncomfortably at you, but you shrug, following Kris into the hole.
What greets you as you hit the floor several feet below is an earthen tunnel, narrow but tall enough for a man to stand upright. A few moist rocks glisten in the torchlight. Kris is half-crouched ahead of you, torch and pistol trained at the corner ahead. She doesn't turn to face you.

A few seconds pass before Vasa hits the ground heavily behind you. As soon as she regains her feet, she looks around, going pale. "Hey... this tunnel seems real unnatural. I have a bad feeling about this..."
Kris makes an "mmmhmmm", without moving a muscle.

[ ]Try to climb back out.
[ ]Continue along the tunnel.
[ ]Hold position for a while before moving out.

Call of Pripyat would probably be the best, its the most stable of the 3, and its a relatively standalone story from the others, with plenty of modding support behind it.

But you can get all 3 dirt cheap

Kris seems unusually eager, considering it's not so long ago she begged us to stay away from him.

no problem, just be aware, the games are not what you would call 'polished', expect bugs and crashes, so save often
>>
>>30388269
You give Kris a nudge, and she starts to make her way along the tunnel. Between the daylight from the hole behind you and the torches each of you are holding, the way is pretty well lit up. However, as soon as you reach the corner, there's a loud rumble. Vasa spins about, and you turn with her just in time to see the outside light cut off sharply as the tunnel behind you collapses, shutting off your escape.

"...Well that's not ominous at all," Vasa grumbles. Kris shushes her, before pushing on deeper into the tunnel.

A few feet later, and another rumble. With a sudden squeal, Kris pushes you backwards as the tunnel ahead caves in as well. "Oh great, we're going to die." Vasa seems awfully calm about this...
She looks up. "Crap! ROCKS!"

Kris has just enough time to look confused before the rock catches her in the side of the head. The weight of it twists her neck to the side, and you hear a sickening crack as she drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. You barely have time to react to the shock though, as you instinctively hurl yourself to one side of the tunnel as a rock scrapes past your face. You don't quite pull your leg aside in time though, and the rock connects with your leg just above the knee. You can feel the cap shatter in your leg, instantly dispelling your ability to stand, and you collapse back against the wall.

Vasa dodges a rock of her own, before leaping towards you. "KRIS! LOLI!! NO!" Her arm is still reaching for you when the next jagged rock connects, yanking it unnaturally downwards, and spraying your face with her blood as the entire roof comes down, burying her alive before your eyes.

You find yourself in a moment of quiet, looking between the two fresh corpses of your only real friends you've ever had. You lean your head back against the wall, tears welling in your eyes, in time to see one final rock fall from the roof towards your face.

A hand cuffs you across the back of your head. "Don't kill me off like that," Vasa growls at you as she snatches the doll with her likeness from you before you can bring your stone down to squish her face again. Kris continues her hysterical laughter in the corner.

"Aaw, but I died too, so it's fine~!" You try to protest, but she's having none of it, holding the doll close to her chest away from you.

"Ugn. I can't believe that old man would go as far as making ACTION FIGURES of us. This is just creepy, now. And to think there's now a whole bunch of men all over the Zone just... playing with us." She shudders in disgust.

Kris settles herself down enough to answer Vasa's indignant comment. "Hah, if you want to be creeped out, Vass, just think about how accurate these things actually are!" She takes the doll of herself from your scenario, giving it a squeeze as she demonstrates. "See?? They even got my bum right! Soft, yet firm..." Another shudder from Vasa. Kris' eyes suddenly gleam with mischief, "hey, let me see yours." Vasa reluctantly hands it over, and Kris immediately starts running her fingers over the figure, letting out some "ooh"s and "aah"s with each squeeze. She looks up at Vasa again, "are you really like-" Vasa cuts her off by snatching the doll back, turning away with a hrmph, a rosy hint to her cheeks.

As Kris bursts into another bout of giggling, your PDA starts ringing. It's Ice.

You hit the answer button and lift it to your ear. "Hello? Ice?"

"Hey, Loli, I've got some information for you. It was surprisingly easy to find, actually. Is that other girl still with you?"

You hand the PDA over to Kris, who takes it a little hesitantly. After a short conversation, in which she says very little in a low voice, she hangs up and hands the device back to you. "Well, we have our lead. Kiyiya's base seems to move around a lot, as people have found lots of places where he used to be, but never find traces of his men." A thin smile, "but apparently a bunch of new mercenaries have been heading to the Jupiter plant, ever since it's been cleared out recently." The smile slowly turns into a grin. "I have a good feeling about this."

>>
>>30389075
We really should go guys. We don't have to engage, but we should at least check it out, look for anything fishy. Missing the chance would be awful, because you know trying to do anything else while Kiyiya is alive will be near impossible.

I think that this is just a BIT too easy to be true, like Kiyiya's deliberately dropping a breadcrumb trail. We can check the intel, sure, but we should definitely not do any sort of engaging.

Plus we need to find out who that kid was.
>>
>>30389104
>i don't think we'll just crash in all guns blazing
Welcome to Loli Stalker Quest! Might you be new around here?
>>
>Alright, so we're checking the place out but not engaging? Writing.
>>
>>30388887
"I don't," Vasa replies, "way too easy. It's gotta be a trap."

Kris frowns at this. "Alright, so we can check it out first, then?"

"Hey, maybe we should bring some backup, too," you suggest.

Vasa nods. "Alright, I'll go fetch Sergei and have him ask about for more help. They can assemble and be on standby if we confirm that it's not a trap."

Kris adds in, "hey, maybe ask that Ice guy if he wants to help? He could probably make it here in time if he hurries."

You all agree to the plan, and quickly set about the tasks. Kris points out a good spot a little way from the plant where a large group of men could hide well, and Vasa takes the coordinates and heads off to find Sergei.
With Kris' help, you forward the coordinates to Ice along with a request for him to come, along with anyone else who might want to hit Kiyiya. A reply comes back almost immediately with an affirmative.

Just a few minutes later, Vasa returns with Sergei in tow. "Okay, so I managed to get about thirty guys to join in. They're headed for the spot now, and calling out to any of their friends for more backup. Everyone really wants this guy dead."

Kris' eyes flare, "thirty?? Well, that should make things easier for us!" Vasa doesn't seem so impressed.

"From what they're saying though, we're probably looking at an even fight, unless the mercs are out on mission. Still, we won't know until we get there..."

With the planning done for now, you group readies themselves and head out in the direction of the plant. You make a rapid pace, having to overtake several groups of men in order to arrive at the plant first.
>>
>>30389428
The meeting point is in a large crater just a short distance from the main gate into the Jupiter plant, a large collection of industrial buildings packed together as a single compound. The entire factory area is completely surrounded by a high, unbroken barb-wire fence. As far as you can tell, there's only one way into the inside of the compound, and it's through this main entrance gate. To the right, around the corner is a second side entrance, but the gate is barred and locked from the inside. The entire left side is making your detector go crazy, so it's probably best to avoid that area.

"Well," Kris mumbles, "I guess we'd better have this checked out before the eager little gun nuts catch up and start shooting the place up."

>Someone should stay here to organize the backup.
>Who do you want to send as a recon crew?

>>
>>30389499
Oh, and as for who should go, leave Kris and Sergei to do talking and organizing. Vass and Loli are bad at that, so they go on recon instead. Vass is sneaky, Loli is good at carving escape routes if shit hits the fan. And Kris and Vass can stay in contact too, I think? Do NOT leave anyone on their own ever. If it's a trap, Kiyiya will probably try to capture people we like as hostages.
>>
>>30389538
I like this, make it 2-2 people teams.
>>
>>30389444
"Kris, you and Vasa have radios, right?" Kris nods. "Well then, I think me and Vasa should go in. We can deal with the sneaky stuff. You and Sergei stay out here and send the other guys to us when we need them. Oh, and," you fish around in your pack before producing some of the plastic explosives you took from the stash, "use this to blow open that gate if we need another way out later."

Sergei nods, shifting the weight of his gun to the other shoulder to take the explosives from you. "Aye, we c'n d'that." Kris and Vasa quickly double check their radios are working okay, then Vasa places her hand on your shoulder.

"Alright, lead the way." You shake your head vigorously side to side.

"No," you tell her, "you should lead. I'm bad at sneaking, remember? I'll just follow you." Vasa smiles warmly at you, then gives a firm nod before pushing herself upright and hurrying towards the gate.

You've barely made it to the first building inside the fence before Vasa's hand swings around to shove you roughly against the wall. She presses herself in next to you, holding a finger up to her mouth. Fingers to her eyes, then around the corner of the window. You guess she can see someone inside and nod a couple of times. Gently, very gently, she slides herself under the window, and you follow suit. The other side of that is a door, and she stops again. Gently peeking around it, before ducking back and waiting. After what feels like an age, she flits across the gap, then holds a hand up, telling you to stay put...
More waiting...
Then a gesture. You roll across the gap and press yourself against the wall on the other side. She nods approvingly at you, then continues along the building, eventually reaching a window that looks clear enough for both of you to hop in through. The process is repeated inside the building, with every corner, door, hallway and staircase, Vasa giving an occasional quiet update to Kris through her earpiece, until you're eventually at the top level of the first building.

She leans in close and whispers to you, "I counted twelve in this building. I reckon that's less than half the garrison, and there are more buildings to check out. This is definitely someone's base, but there's no guarantee it's Kiyiya. What d'you wanna do?"

>>30390801
"Well there's no point getting everyone in a fight if he's not here," you point out. She agrees, and the both of you decide to check out the other buildings as well. Getting out of the building again isn't all that hard. Vasa has apparently memorized the positions and patrol routes already, so you simply leave via the fastest route and hop over to the next building. Once there, it's the same slow game again, slowly but surely progressing your way through the entire building, checking out every single room, mapping the entire layout of the garrison for Kris as you both make your way to the top floor.

Once there, you spot your prize. Outside the broken window beside the stairs, in the space between the buildings below, you can hear as well as see a pair of young-looking men, both stripped naked, hands clutching their dignity as Kiyiya loudly berates them in front of a line of chuckling men in the grey urban camouflage, all heavily armed though only a few are wearing their armor. "Jesus," Vasa mumbles, "this couldn't be easier." She gently moves her rifle to rest against the window ledge. "I'll have him out before anyone knows we're here..."

Your focus is almost entirely on Vasa as she steadies her breathing, allows her body to relax, shifting herself to become comfortable behind her rifle as she centers on her target. And it's a good thing only 95% of your attention was on her, or you'd never have heard the whoosh of air, or seen the flash of movement in the corner of your eye. You jerk sideways, bringing both hands up as protection and barely make it in time to deflect the rifle butt's blow to the back of Vasa's head, instead taking most of the impact on your forearm. You grunt in pain, instantly repaying the favor with a vaulting kick to your aggressor's midriff as Vasa spins from her position to help you.

[PERSPECTIVE SWITCH!]

By Hell, this is a stressful job. Since just a few moments after the other two departed, you've been run ragged off your feet as more and more backup arrived, each needing something, or having an issue with someone, or not knowing what was going on...
It's fair enough really, being as how you've just assembled one of the largest forces the Zone has known in decades in the span of literally a few minutes.

It didn't help that no-one seemed to want to take instruction from you; being a seventeen-year-old girl doesn't generally encourage people to trust in your leadership skills. However, that seemed less of an issue once a guy tried to get aggressive on you and Sergei broke his arm. Thanks, Sergei. Now everyone's listening to you, or at least to Sergei when he echoes your orders with a pointed hefting of his light machine gun.

You'd at least successfully managed to organize the loners and stalker groups into something resembling three balanced squads, each with a selection of weapons and firepower, medical supplies and tactical gear to survive most basic scenarios they might face in there, when another small group arrived. The leader of the new group introduced himself as Ice, and once he discovered you were the one telling him what to do earlier, he took it upon himself to become your bodyguard after splitting his guys into the squads to better balance them out.

And throughout all of this, Vass was muttering in your earpiece about the layout of the buildings inside the compound, and how the bad guys were spread and patrolling. You're pretty sure you got most of the details on your mental map, but you probably missed some bits with all this going on. Of course, that's when the real trouble began. Two more squads of guys turning up at the same time. One in greens and yellows, the other in blacks and reds...

It took a lot of effort, but you finally managed to get them to agree to not start shooting each other by convincing them that they weren't working together, they were "competing" each other for the chance to kill Kiyiya. They seemed to accept this, but then it dawned on you that they might take the competition too seriously, and made the extra point that if they misbehaved, didn't follow your orders, or otherwise interfered with your plan, you wouldn't hesitate to sick GiltinÄ— on them. And she'd be more than happy to oblige, having not been satiated on her bloodlust for several days already.

Those without fullface helmets visibly paled with that threat, and you're pretty sure they'd behave. Just as you were once more switching back to organizing the teams better for when the assault finally came, Vasa's voice screams in your ear. "COMPROMISED! KRIS, HELP!"
A rattle of gunfire from deep inside the compound. Showtime.

[Part 23 End]

Man, that was a fun thread.
Should I pretend to murder everyone off more often? That's like, the fastest most passionate response you guys have ever given me.

I'm not going to rush an end to LSQ. I mean, I *could*, but even then a good resolution will still take at least 10 threads to get through just the pure story arc. And that's skipping the... like, 80% filler arc stuff I have going on right now.

In other news, Full Scale Battle next thread(s)! Look forward to it!
>>
>>30391589
I hope Kiyaya is one of the filler arcs?
>>
>>30389704
It's whatever.
>>
>>30391674
I think he's a major arc, since he's got a direct relation to Kris, and Kris is our friend.
>>
>>30391674
Of course not. But he's obviously just leading into more plot. Remember that it took like 15 threads for Kaleun to find a plot hook we wouldn't kill right away. He has mentioned that we've barely done a fraction of the story he has.
>>
>>30391589
don't play with our hearts too often, kalerun
but yeah, this one was well placed (right after the small paranoia)

and really looking forward to teh battle

>Duty AND Freedom show up
This just makes me sad we didn't have time to ask Monolith to join us for fun times. It would've been the most glorious shitfest the Zone ever saw.

>>30391732
Or is she...?
>>
>>30391589
If it is Loli conjuring strange and terrible ways for them to die it could be fun but overusing it would wear out the effect
>>
>>30391906
I was honestly surprised by the action figures. I'm glad he didn't do "it was just a dream" or anything on that level because that would've just made the prank look so cheap.
>>
>>30391674
Ehh, sort of?
He's a filler in terms that you could totally ignore him if you wanted and still stumble onto the road I want you to be on.
On the other hand, he's also acting as a nice tool for me to nudge you along.

That being said, he has no more plot armor than the other characters, so it's perfectly possible for you guys to murder him before his plot usefulness has ended.

>>30392013
I'm glad it surprised someone. And actually, the "it was just a dream" idea never even occurred to me...
>>
>>30392145
Ah, well, I was working backwards to get to that. I was reasonably certain it was a prank (like I mentioned in a previous post my faith only wavered a little, totally) so I started speculating in how you were going to pull if off. I had a few ideas, but then the actual badend was posted and, well, they didn't fit.

In retrospect, I feel like an idiot for ever thinking Beard wouldn't be able to make accurate action figures based on nothing more than a brief glimpse of Kris and Vasa. It's clearly something that is within his power. Whatever that power is...
>>
>>30392145
Speculation on the "final boss" time? My vote is on Loli's dad, coming to take her home.

its Kris

I'd rather speculate on who our admirer is.

You know we have to give him chocolates back to show we like him too, right?

We should look for him after this encounter with Kiyiya.
>>
>>30392983
What? No, damn it, that's not how you do this at all. You're supposed to play hard to get in this situation. You don't even know the boy, all he did was give you chocolate. That's not supposed to him your affection, it just earns him your attention. Which he promptly threw away. It's on him to find a way to earn a second shot.

Look, why do you think Kris was so insistent on not going after the boy? It's because she's hatching some evil plan or anything, or because she's jealous and trying to ruin it for us. It's obviously because she thinks of Loli as a little sister and doesn't want her to repeat the mistakes she made herself. Specifically, being a slut.
>>

>spoiler
this, THIS, a 100 times this
>>
>>30392711
I could tell you right now, if you'd like. It's the boy with the chocolate.
>>
>>30393114
Huh. I obviously meant to say it is NOT because she's evil. What an embarrassing mistake.

>>30393784
Man, I didn't want to know but I can tell just by the size of that spoiler what's behind it. Now you've ruined the quest for me forever!

I don't know if I can trust this spoiler. Kaleun's proven himself to be pretty good at rusing us.
>>
Anyone going to archive this?
>>
>>30393114
Alright, you have me convinced.

Now, how do we play hard to get? It sounds complicated; up until now our actions can be summed up with a Hershey's bar and a combat knife.
>>
>>30396316
I'm confused. Are you asking how to do it in this specific case or do you just not know how it works at all?
