In the ruins of the royal palace's throne room, devastated by your recent confrontation with Fleurdelis, the dust has settled.

You have the royal physician attending to Queen Amata's wounds. She's horribly injured, to the point that any mortal would have been turned into a fine pink mist long ago, but she'll probably survive.
Still, not being able to do anything about her right now gives you a feeling of powerlessness that, combined with the adrenaline from the fight leaving your system, is just... crushing.

Her son, Samiel, who fought alongside you, lies not too far from here, fainted as well. His wounds are not as bad, but he seems to have taken many blows to the head. It's a wonder he could stand that long during the fight.

And her daughter, Irene, is on the castle's towers, coordinating the militia in case something attacks Tianna right now, when its defenses are at its minimum.

Even though your glowing aura and shining castemark are quickly disappearing, the soldiers regard you with obvious suspicion, and keep their distance from you.

The whining noise of the Abyssal airship's engines grows fainter and fainter as they leave the area, until it vanishes completely in the distance. At least that's good news, you imagine.

You have wounds of your own, having been impaled by Fleurdelis' bone spears in your thigh and abdomen. They sting, but seem to have stopped bleeding on their own. You're not really sure how that's possible, but then again, your head is a mess right now. It feels like it might explode any moment.

Falling on your knees from the shock of the last ten minutes suddenly catching up with you, you struggle to keep focused, but with little success. In about a minute or so, you find yourself slipping into a dreamlike state.

When you com back to your senses, the wrecked ruins of the palace are empty, with no soldiers or anyone else. An eerie silence fills the air, hanging around you like a cloak.

Even as you groggily stand back up on your own two feet, you almost feel weightless, and your sense of balance is completely off.

The silence is broken by a booming voice. Its volume is not particularly high or startling, but it comes to you with an echo of power.

"WELL AWOKEN, MAKA."

The dimness of the badly-illuminated castle interior is suddenly bathed by a flaming light springing into existence in front of you. Your eyes, already too adjusted to the darkness around you, sting and scream as you reflexively avert them, giving them time to get used to this light.

"Who... who are you?" You ask the light, trying to force yourself to look directly at it.

You can feel it drawing closer, but also a bit dimmer, as if to allow yourself to look at it. Or perhaps it's just your eyes getting adjusted to its brilliance faster than expected.

"I AM THE UNCONQUERED SUN."

You can finally see him. Surrounded by an aura of light and fire, like lightning, before you stands a tall, four-armed man wearing a suit of armor crafted from a metal whose warmth and brilliance is to gold as gold itself is to lead.
His eyes have a glow of power within them, the spark of true, highest divinity. And yet, they transmit so much more to you: Sadness, and kindness, and hope.

He offers his hand to you. "THROUGH ME, YOU ARE EXALTED."

Confused, maybe upset, maybe just out of your mind, you take his hand, and the clouds of haze lift from your mind. It's pleasantly warm, and the warmth spreads throughout your body like a wave.

"...why?" You can only ask.

"BECAUSE YOU ARE NEEDED."

He smiles, and gently pulls you to him.

"AND BECAUSE I HAVE FAITH IN YOU."

One, two. Once you take your third step, you call back to reality, to the here and now. Soldiers marching around, shoving piles of debris aside, pulling the dead and the wounded from under slabs of concrete.

The woman in white armor that was commanding the magical cannon's crew a few minutes ago is standing next to you, a concerned look on your face. "Hey. Are you with us, miss?."

You notice that her hand is resting on the hilt of her sword, and that several soldiers around you and her are just as suspicious of you right now. No one has their weapons drawn, though they are all ready to do so.

"...I have no idea who you are, but my mother seemed to know about you. And, well, you were obviously on our side during that fight." From this close, you notice that she is much thinner than the armor makes her look, and that that suit is not just very thick, but sporting a layer of what seems to be arcane machinery below its white-metal armored plates.

"But... well, who are you? What IS happening?" She asks.

"I'm here in Tianna as a guest- by your mother's grace. I think it would be better to talk about this later, though."

She frowns at you, and points at your forehead. "...Very well - but keep that thing hidden for now. Tianna might not be an Immaculate city, and you seem like an alright person, but we don't want any trouble here." Short pause. "Any more trouble than it already happened."

She sighs and sits down on a shattered column next to you. "Do you happen to know anything about that black airship and that woman in the gothic dress? They were Abyssals, right? What do they want with us? What's going on?"

They were well-equipped and powerful, but bumbling, and it seemed that Phoenix wasn't particularly interested in actual conquest, despite Fleurdelis swearing a vengeful return.

Yeah, I'm surprised about that too. Maybe this is a fair bit further on from the canon start date? If the conquest of Thorns was a century in the past, that would have given a lot of nations time to deal with Deathknight ambassadors.

We defeated ONE Solaroid, and we had the help of three dragonblooded exalts wearing her down, attacking her in sync with us, and shooting her with an essence cannon, respectively. "I just saw that woman and some skeletons move towards the Palace, rallied a bit of the militia that seemed directionless, and came here to help." You explain, trying to say as little as you can. "You saw the rest."

Her frown deepens. She might be believing you (and has no reason not to), but she doesn't seem to trust you yet. But at least she doesn't seem to regard you as an active threat, and even her hand isn't resting on hr sword's pommel anymore.

"...Fair enough." She stands back up, brushing her long hair back. "I am Irene Tai Tianna, by the way. But you seem to already know me. And from what I heard from the soldiers, your name seems to be Maka."

"...So." She continues after a moment of pause, spent looking at you from several angles. "What are you going to do now, Maka?"

"I was thinking about going to check on your brother, Samiel. I probably owe him my life."

"Oh. Uh. Sorry." She replies, suddenly looking very, very guilty. "I didn't check the line of fire before giving the order."

You blink. "...Well, I meant fighting against that Abyssal. But yes, I really didn't notice that you brought a... what was that thing?"

"A class-4 Concussive Essence Cannon!" She replies, beaming with pride. "It has a twelve mote resonation chamber, backed by a double-layered array of Majana crystals encased in a steel lattice! It's a bit cumbersome to use on the battlefield, but once it's deployed and fixed in place to brace it against recoil, it can fire one shot every six seconds, each carrying the force of-"

"An Essence Cannon." You interrupt her.

"Yes." She CLEARLY wants you to ask her something about it.

"...So, about Samiel...?"

She sighs. "Soldiers carried him to his bedroom. He was still knocked out, but he should be alright by now. You go and see him, I'll keep watch in case something happens until we manage to get back the city's defenses to full efficiency and patch all those holes in the walls."

"Alright." You politely smile and nod at her before leaving the throne room. You ask around a bit, and get directions for Samiel's bedroom.

So let's put this in perspective.

1. We stopped over half the invaders in town by stopping their ship.

2. If we hadn't intervened the fight would have been Samiell/Irene v. Fleurdelis/Phoenix. A fight the palace definitely loses.

3. Us helping the palace folk is likely the only reason they had the chance to roll a turret into the room to attack Fleur without her noticing.

4.Not killing the person who is currently saving you life isn't exactly an action worthy of thanks.

5. We legitimately didn't have to do anything of this and could have taken the city over ourselves.

So seriously, why are we thanking them?

Samiel's room is spacious, but not really what you'd call luxury. Most of its furniture hings at a person who prefers a simple life, or who ,possibly does not normally spend much time in there. Other than the bed he's currently occupying, and a table, desk, and a few chairs, there is just a small book-case, a couple of martial decorations in the shape of a shield and crossed swords hanging from the walls, and not much else.
A large window opens into the courtyard, letting in light.

"...It's you." He's awake, it seems. You didn't have time to notice this before, but his face is in a sorry state. It looks like he was shoved headfirst through several marble columns. And that might just have happened, actually.

"...I don't know who you are, but I owe you my thanks. Without your help, that monster-like woman would have defeated me."

He takes a deep, deep sigh, looking out of the window. "...These Abyssals who have set their aims on Tianna are more than our match. They looked like they were holding back, and I fear it will not be so when they will return."

Even in Immaculate theory Anathema don't tend to get truly demonic for a while, so this might be a good idea.

Of course, it also states that by that point it's usually too late to stop the Anathema since it's too powerful to take down, so it needs to be put down when it's as young as possible.

It just happened, and Amata didn't want us around because of it. That said, it doesn't really change much about our relationship with her (we hope, at least), and having Abyssals bulldoze into a city we know probably wouldn't sit well with anyone.

THAT BEING SAID...

Writing off what we just did is just deflecting and gets us nowhere unless we're learning the motivations and opinions of those around us. Keep the conversation going, and keep being the one asking questions to make sure we're in a position to learn.

"Actually, your mother took me in as a guest before my exaltation...which just happened now, I believe, during the fight." You explain, avoiding the term "anathema" and instead putting a certain stress on the "Exalted". You're not sure you want to be associated with that other word.

He looks at you in amazement.

"Which is why I owe her this debt. She helped a mortal, without expecting any assistance in return."

"...It really sounds like a children's fable on the virtues of kindness and hospitality being rewarded by fate." Samiel notes.

"...Maybe." You have to admit. "But I'm not too sure about... well... myself."

He gives you a very confused glance.

"I don't know much about these powers I have just acquired, or how to use Essence."

"...My Exaltation is different." He notes, pulling aside the blankets and trying to sit up. Painfully. "But it might have enough things in common with yours that I might be able to give you some help. It's the least I could do."

"...I also wanted to ask you about your sister's cannon." You add.

He lifts his eyes up to you. "...What?" Then, as it clicks in his brain. "...Oh, that. Yes, she's always been really into magical engineering. Spent most of her childhood fumbling about with mechanical toys and gizmos, even before she Exalted. The day mom put her in charge of the small stock of First Age weapons her ancestors had gathered or scavenged from around this area, it was the happiest day in her life." He remembers, gazing out of the window. "She even started taking them apart, reassembling them, even trying to use the parts of several damaged ones to build a single, large one. I think she's still working on that one."

He stares back to you, very serious. "Never ask her about it. She'll talk your ears off, and that's if she doesn't just drag you to her basement to show it to you." You can read in his eyes that he had to suffer that sort of treatment one too many times himself.

Not going to force him. We're not his mom or anything like that, but he got pretty beat up. Healing doesn't happen unless you're resting, and knowing we're still in trouble it'd be good to have him around and at 100% when shit goes down again.

It'd really be good to go check on Amata again. Maybe we'd have the chance to fill in some of the gaps of specifically why we're at her palace, and our relationship with her. PLUS we can ask her anything we need to know about her kids and about Tianna.

"You should probably rest for a bit. You don't look like you're in good shape."

"I can't stay in bed while my country needs me." Is his predictable reply.

"You can't help anyone in that condition, and you're only going to hurt yourself more and take longer to heal." You counter-argue, and gently push him back down on the bed.

Whether because of a lack of energy or because he does acknowledge that you're right, he doesn't put up much opposition and quietly rolls back in the blankets.

"...Alright. But please go and check up on mom. -er, I mean, on mother."

"I will, I will, don't worry." You wave goodbye to him as you leave his room. "Get well soon."

The moment you close the door behind you, you realize that he's going to just wait for you to walk past the corner, and then he's going to get back up again. But you can't exactly stand guard in front of his bedroom to make sure he gets his sleep. You did everything you could do.

You head to the queen's room. This is a more properly royal bedroom, with tapestries and pictures of stern-looking ancestors staring at you from the walls, a large fireplace, ornate furniture and accessories, cupboards full of elegant china sets and bookcases stacked with books and scrolls.A canopy bed stands on the opposite side of the room, all white and blue with red highlights and ribbons, surrounded by the old physician you had seen before in his green kimono, and what are probably his three apprentices or assistants.

"Queen Amata needs to sleep undisturbed." The old man immediately chastises you as soon as you step into the room.

"It's alright, it's alright. Leave me alone with her for a few minutes." The queen tells him, from the bed.

The physician doesn't seem to appreciate being told what to do, not even by the queen herself, but he complies, gathering his things in a large leather bag he carries hanging from his belt, and motioning for his assistants to follow him outside.

Left alone with you in the room, she pulls herself up a bit. "...Maka." She says, still looking a bit surprised at everything that just happened. Much like yourself, you'd imagine. "What happened?"

These are kind of one and the same. Tell her that the Abyssals were about ready to fuck shit up, and we couldn't let that happen. We tried stopping them as best as we could, and that led to this. Somehow. We're still not 100% clear, but the UCS gave us the thumbs up, so...

"...It all started while i was just walking around Main Street, minding my own business..." you start.

[...]

"...But she was still there standing, even after Irene's cannon blast. But at least they both ran away." You finish your story.

Amata, who has been listening to every word you said with great attention, slowly nods. "You're a Solar now. An Exalted, chosen by the Unconquered Sun, and filled with his power."

You pull up a chair and sit down. You realize that now is your turn to listen.

"...A long time ago, during the First Age, the Solars were the rulers of the world and the law-givers of Creation. But then, they slowly became corrupt. Envious, greedy, lazy, some prone to terrible outbursts of anger, others caring for no one but themselves, others growing detached from reality. Those of my blood, the Dragon-Blooded, staged a coup, and, not without great effort, managed to destroy and seal away all of the Solars, so that they would not reincarnate. Until a few years ago, when the Solars started returning."

"...I don't know much else. But if your god has spoken to you in your head, then perhaps you could try and contact him again, if you have more questions, and want more answers. My knowledge doesn't go further than this."

"The Immaculates believe that all Solars are cursed monsters..." You voice your doubts. A lot of people have looked at you with fright or suspicion, but you see none of that in Amata's eyes.

"Yes, and. You know. Sometimes they're right. Plus, considering what happened in the distant past, I can't blame them. But I don't buy into their philosophy. And not just because of their opinion on Anathema." She smiles.

"How do you know, though?" You ask her.

"Really?" You lean closer to her, barely containing your surprise.

"Yes, but..." And she brings an index finger to her lips. "People are entitled to some secrets, right? You of all people should know. Maybe some other time I'll tell you about him, but not now."

"Oh." You lean back a bit. You... can't really argue with that, can you?

"What do you intend to do now?" She asks you.

"What do you mean?"

"You have been granted great powers by the Unconquered Sun. And he said he believes in you, but didn't ask anything of you. So, of course, now you should ask yourself what you intend to use those powers for."

This. Fleudelis is still a threat, we're too noob, and we have our own kingdom to retake in the future.
>>
>>30413358
At first glance, I want to say that we should investigate those Abyssals. Buuuuuut....

Really, I think this should be three-pronged:

1) We need to learn more about the Abyssals. We need to investigate just who they are and find out just WHY they want Tianna. In order to do this, we need to...
2) Learn more about our new powers. We know absolutely shit-all about what we can actually do, aside from take fatal blows and come out fine, stop giant deathships from crushing everything with our bare hands, and cause skeletons to poof into nothingness just from how awesome we are. We were chosen by the Unconquered Motherfucking Sun for a reason, but if we want people to trust us, we need to know what we can do. What better way to learn about our powers safely, get people to trust us, and get into a position where we can investigate and deal with the Abyssals than to...
3) Stay in Tianna and help Amata and the rest get everything fixed up. Hell, maybe with us around, we can organize and lead everyone into making this place BETTER than it was before it was attacked. We can find out the extent of our social skills by supervising and leading the rebuilding efforts. We can test our combat prowess by sparring and training the guard. We can read up on what we know about First Age shit by sticking close to Irene and picking her brain on just what all she knows. Plus, the place HAS to have some kind of library, if Irene's pulling essence cannons out of her ass.

All of this advances our knowledge of ourself and also the bonds between us and Tianna. It proves that we're not a golden demon, and we're not going to usurp its rightful ruler, and also a good friend (possible lover) of ours. Meanwhile, we can learn more of what Amata knows.
>>
>>30413358
>I will stay here in Tianna and help you, for now.

"...I think that, if you're willing to extend your hospitality to me once more, I would be glad to stay in Tianna, and perhaps lend you my power."

"I see no need to offer you my hospitality again." She replies.

You are taken aback by her reply for a second, before you catch a glimpse of her lips curling in a smile.

"It was, after all, never withdrawn in the first place. You are free to stay." She explains.

You relax. "Do you... maybe I shouldn't be asking you this..."

"Go ahead."

"...Do you know of any way for me to become more familiar with my powers? I feel... like I still have room for growth. And that, considering what just happened, I might need it."

"Of course." She nods. "Your exaltation is still in its first phase. This is a period where you have great potential. You will quickly adapt and pick up skills, and develop magical powers, until you complete the exaltation process."

"I will just... learn new things that easily?" You ask, a bit doubtful.

"For us Terrestrial, it works like that. We become more like our aspected Element in a way that suits our personality and wishes - or those of our parents and mentors, if they are strict enough." She adds.
You think there might be a story behind that remark, but her explanation doesn't dwell on it for too long: "But you are unlike me, your powers are of a different nature and come from a different source. I suspect they might work differently, though I don't really know how."

"Then... what should I do?"

"If you wish to develop your still-untapped potential, you should get to work immediately. You are still unshaped, in a way. Choose something. Train, practice, spar. Study. Try. Do. Or..."

"Or...?" You echo her.

"...When we Dragon-Blooded seek answers to spiritual matters, we turn to our elements. In them, we find ways to commune with the Elemental Dragons, the supreme embodiments of the five elements. And from them, or rather, from ourselves through them, we get our answers." Amata explains, gesturing in mid-air with a finger. Summoned by her gesture, a delicate but chilling-cold gust of air spirals through the room, caressing curtains, clothes, and hair.

"But I don't draw my powers from an element..." You mumble trying to figure things out.

"No, the source of your power is the Sun." She nods. "And you already had a vision, which means you have some sort of direct connection to him, perhaps much in the same way an anointed priest is connected to his god. So maybe, through meditation or some other similar practice, you could manage to commune with your patron."

"I see." you nod. That makes sense. So that's what that four-armed figure meant when he said "Through me, you are Exalted" in that crazy all-caps voice of his.

Seems like you are on your own from now on. Amata doesn't seem to know more.

"It's not a bad idea, trying to get back in touch with him. I do have some things I'd like to know." You admit. "But..."

Amata sinks back into her bed, evidently tired of forcing herself to sit up in an uncomfortable position.

"...There's clearly some trouble afoot, and I think that my first order of business should be to not get killed. I should probably train my body."

"Just don't do stuff that's too out-there in front of too many people in town." She says from beneath the blankets. "No reason to upset or scare them needlessly. If you'll stay here, they'll eventually get used to you, but, you know, a bit at a time."

"Oh, of course." You recognize, remembering how the people who were standing behind you when you stopped the airship were looking at you. The strangest mixture of grateful and terrified. Some people in this city are going to hate you for what you are, no matter what you do, but the majority of them are going to just fear you. You can imagine Amata not wanting to deal with that problem.

"...I'll go, then. Be well." You say to her.

After a few seconds of pouting, Amata finally cajoles you into a "goodnight kiss." You guess she gets really few chances to act like a spoiled princess, so she makes them count.

Saying goodbye, you head downtown.

The airship really did a number on the town. Several buildings have been crushed, and many more are damaged, even just by the vibrations, to the point of having been evacuated. But the most serious problem is the large breach in the city walls, from which basically any invading force, even just your average band of brigands and marauders, wyld savages, hobgoblins, or whatever, could rush in and wreck chaos. Even with the militia in place, it would be hard stopping them all.

Plus, guarding that hole at night will necessarily tie up a lot of soldiers who could otherwise rest or do something more useful. You guess the militia will be stretched fairly thin for a while.

As you walk down Main Street, you happen on the spot where you stopped the airship, and Exalted. The two trenches tug in the ground by your own legs as you braced the vessel's mass are still there. You still can hardly believe you have actually done that.

Some people are pointing at you and whispering to others. You see long explanations and gestures being made, and recognize a few faces. That whole scene was pretty flashy and done in front of a lot of people, so It's fairly normal that it would make a story worth repeating...

You decide to try and see exactly how physically powerful you have become, and how further you can push that. You start by picking up clumps of bricks and pieces of walls. They are apparently trying to gather all the rubble in a nearby plaza, where the city's stonemasons and builders and other specialists are sifting through it, salvaging bricks and anything that can be reused, while those who have been left homeless by the attack search for personal belongings - or, in some cases, loved ones.
>>
People look at you uncomfortably when you casually lift a large chunk of stone wall and carry it to the pile, over your shoulder. Some are impressed, some grateful, more than a few seem to be scared. No one dares to speak to you. Many fingers are pointed, and some people leave the scene and disappear in the alleyways.

The silence you're working in is a bit uncomfortable, but you keep at it nonetheless.

[Exaltation Chargen: +1 Physical]

After struggling to lift and carry two large wooden beams, one over each of your shoulders, and working yourself up to a sweat doing so, you think you've found your limit...

...But over the rest of the day, you try carrying other pieces of rubble that you gauge to be about the same in weight, yet feel lighter and lighter to you.

It's as if your body is adapting to higher and higher levels of physical strength. Not just that, but you notice other small details: even though you do grow tired, it seems to happen slower than you'd expected, and even when moving around, you realize that you feel like you have better coordination, and can stretch further.

The feeling is exhilarating, but doesn't last long. As night begins to fall, exhaustion slowly catches up with you, and you realize that the amount of weight you can comfortably carry has been about constant for the last few hours.

And it's a weight that, well... while not absolutely inhuman, you'd normally think of as only within the reach of monstrously over-muscled freaks, or well-trained beasts of burden like oxen or large pulling horses.

Of course people are going to look your way.
>>
You know you can do more. You stopped that airship, after all. But that was during terrifying circumstances, and it took a lot of energy out of you.

Maybe you can develop a power that will help you vastly exceed your limits in pure, brute strength for a single feat or a short amount of time. If you did it once, you can do it again. You can learn how.

You glance at a large chunk of the city walls, about seven to ten meters across, pulled out of the ground and broken from the rest of the walls by the airship but still structurally intact. Maybe you can try with that?

Or maybe you can rest a bit (the sun is about to set), or focus on something else.

>Training: develop a strength-enhancing Power.
>Training: do something else (what?).

You wait for night to fall, as the (some of them pretty shocked) people of Tianna retreat back in their homes. You hang around as the militia mounts a guard post and an improvised barricade on the breach.

Once things are a bit calmer, you approach the breach and, under the puzzled eyes of the guards, grab a corner of the large piece of rubble.

"...What are you doing?" One of the guards asks you.

"...Oh, I'm just borrowing this."

"What." Is his confused reply as you struggle to pull the large block of bricks, probably heavy several tons, a bit further away and behind the closest corner of the outer walls. Since apparently activating your powers causes you to glow, putting the city walls between you and the city will probably give you some privacy.

It takes you a while and some sore muscles, but you pull the several tons heavy mass of rubble in a nice, sheltered corner.

"...Let's try this."

It's hard to gauge, but if you had to risk a guess, you'd say that you're now able to lift about five hundred kilograms, maximum. This thing is a lot more. Ten, twenty, fifty times as much? You have no idea, and have no way to tell.

The real question is: can you do it? Up to yesterday, it would have seemed crazy talk. But now?

You find a comfortable grip for both your hands, and attempt to lift up a corner of the chunk of wall.

Nothing.

You try harder.

Still nothing.

You're about to give up, when you give one last try. And something clicks inside you. You feel a rush of warm energy spreading through your body, and the darkness around you is suddenly lit by a soft glow.

[Essence: 3/5]
>>
>>30419938
Aw shit.
>>
With a momentous effort, you pull up a corner of the piece of wall, up enough to inch your way under it.

The rush of energy doesn't stop: it becomes stronger and stronger, with your heart beating like crazy, every single muscle in your body screaming in unison. Trembling, you balance the entire block on your arced back, and dead lift it.

Jamming your fingers in the spaces they can find in its uneven surface, you prop it up on just your shoulders and neck. then, holding a scream of pain and effort, you lift it further up, holding the massive weight above your head on the palm of your hands.

You take a few tentative steps around, managing to even carry it and move it. Your senses and feelings, especially your common sense, are so confused and struggling to adjust that you don't even have an idea of how much that thing actually weights anymore.

You bench press it a couple times, noticing the fact that all that mass has caused your feet to sink in the ground by a few centimeters, and your steps have left deep footprints.

Then, you try and balance it on just one hand. You can do it, although just barely, and have to quickly support with the other both because you felt it was about to crack.

Finally, after finding again the right balance, you bend under it, and launch it up into the air.

You look at it flying for a few seconds, actually clearing the city walls - you could have thrown it above them and into the city if you wanted, you realize - before gravity suddenly realizes it has a job to do.

As it falls back on you, you punch it.

The block shatters and explode, leaving you trapped, form a moment, in a mass of rubble and loose bricks as they all fall on your head.

As you dig yourself out, your glow begins to fade, and your feeling of power with it. You feel very, very tired, but satisfied.

You look at the shapeless mass of bricks and mortar lying in a pile outside the city walls, and you say to yourself, proudly:

"...I lifted."

Next session will probably be Monday. Thank you for being patient and sticking with me: I know my updates are slow and irregular.

As usual, I'll hang around here a bit more if anyone has questions.

Could we Team Rocket Punch someone with Solar Hero + 10 Ox now?
>>
>>30420154
At Physical 3/Social 3, where do we sit, in comparison to other, more mundane humans? With a Physical/Social+Zenith of 6, how tough/charming are we?
>>
>>30420334
If it matches the book, 3 is a very well trained mortal, like 200 pound lift range.
>>
>>30420459
A little more than that. This is the trait description for Athletics in core:

>Trait Effects: Someone with Athletics 1 can probably keep her balance while walking on an ice-covered street. Someone with Athletics 3 can work as an acrobat in the circuses of the Realm. Someone with Athletics 5 can scale the glass towers of Chiaroscuro.

Thanks for running OP.

Does Ten Ox Meditation also let us hulk-jump?
>>
>>30420205
Yes.

In my system (my system for running this quest, not the way i run regular, tabletop Exalted) mortal average is stats at 1 across the board.
Exceptional mortals can reach 2 without supernatural help, tops.
They can get to 3 if they abuse artifacts, magic or blessings in some way, or manage to awaken their Essence.
So, if you need comparison, consider 2 to be more or less the peak of human potential.

Example:
The current (real-world) bench press world records are 325 kg naked and 500 kg with a bench shirt (a stiff shirt designed specifically to aid in bench pressing), and they're exercises done with athletic preparation, in controlled circumstances, and lifting an easy-to-grasp metal bar.
That's Physical 2 (the "strength" part of "physical", at least).
Maka can now bench press up to about 500 kg "in the field", meaning without any special preparation, including items that aren't specifically designed to be easy to handle, and with the ability to do so multiple times before becoming tired. In a bench press competition, she could probably lift twice as much.
Ten Ox Meditation is not an actual, numerical multiplier for that: instead, it lets her attempt feats of strength way above her class. It's not strictly defined, and has a vague upper limit. Circumstances and result of the dice roll matter.

It's harder to give examples for social skills, but with a Social + Zenith of 6 it's safe to say that Maka is vastly more charismatic/persuasive/sexier than any mortal, and in a pretty respectable league as far as gods and Exalted go.

A bit, Not much, not very effectively. There are fast-travel powers that are more centered on that, since they apply that strength and that magic in a much more focused way to obtain that specific result.

>>30420459
Don't expect this quest or the rules I use for it to match the books that closely. But if you have doubts or want clarifications, feel free to ask at any time I'm around.

Athletics falls under Night, which we have 2 dots in and brings us up to 5 on the Feats table, "450 lbs, Lift a donkey; kick a wooden door to flinders."

Physical is Strength, Dexterity, Stamina. The basic physical prowess, while the Caste dots are where Abilities would sit.

Thank you OP. I'm new to Exalted and unfamiliar with the lore and mechanics, but I really like the way you're running things. Keep it up, and I hope to see you Monday!

Approximately what time on Monday might the next thread be?

I'm trying to keep this as newbie-friendly as possible and to actually have it function halfway well as an introduction to the game. I hope I'm doing a good job of it.

Don't rely on this Quest for the mechanics (I'm changing them a lot), though, and even the setting is very open to interpretation: my vision of Creation is going to be radically different from how other people see it, like >>30405441 so succinctly explains.

In the end, every game-master is going to run Exalted differently. I hope you'll appreciate my own spin on this wonderful setting.

I'm not entirely sure, unfortunately.

Are charms that expand Solar Hero Style a possibility, or is it mostly just a form charm for simplicity's sake?
>>
>>30421392
Oh, and on that note, what bonus would wearing gauntlets - of bronze and of orichalcum, respectively - actually provide?
>>
>>30421392
Definitely a possibility, and I have some already thought up.
>>30421482
Normal weapons grant +1/+2 bonus to combat rolls. Some to attack, some to defense, some to both.
Artifact weapons are +3/+4/+5.
Excluding charms, all combat rolls just deal 1 point of damage. Some charms can boost that up to 2 for a roll.

Extras have 1 HP. Heroic mortals 3. Exalted 5 and up.

This is mostly because of my personal ideas about Exalted, and mirrors some house rules I actually use on the tabletop game.
I believe that combat between Exalted should have low lethality, and that it should not be quite as easy for them to kill each other. Definitely never as an "accident" or an afterthought, even when there's a large difference in power. More of an action movie / comic book feel if you want.

Fights between Exalted end more often with a surrender, an escape, a truce, a deal, or someone being captured, and you have to REALLY want someone specifically dead and put some effort into it to make a confirmed kill.

Exalted are also very prone to fall from cliffs, disappear in explosions, or apparently fail to get out in time from collapsing buildings, and be left for dead by their enemies.

And now, I'll go to bed. See you monday!

No matter how many times I see it, I love this stupid cliche.
