Last time we found ourselves facing down a charging zombie horde...who turned out to be running away from something. Their flight has since spread further panic/havoc as other elements reacted. We meanwhile have interacted with some survivors, a tribal, and even a surprisingly friendly bandit group of all things. We even discovered during conflict between some monsters and zombies a previously unknown facility buried beneath the ever expanding grounds of Mega City Ashad our new home. Granted we haven't found a place to stay yet but still.

Could use some related images for future threads, because I don't have shit.

Leave one or two volunteers here to have a look around while we move items around.

Sadly, we're in the process of finding a good infrastructure to live in.

We've met several groups, most of them wary of us. One is friendly, but could easily be a wolf in sheeps clothing.

We know a place right now and were about to head in, due ot zombies, but it turns out they were just running away from something even scarier.

O dam. It's is a bad time.

You are Dr. Kaharr right when the zombies hit you found yourself damn thankful that you had the anti zombie augs implanted they really helped. Unfortunately for you however somehow...the zombies reacted to you being the de facto leader and you soon found yourself against the nastier ones. Who for some reason seeked you out specifically. Some way some how they can figure that sorta stuff out. Shit.

You abruptly found yourself regretting never attending those training seminars for combat. As you prepared to engage them in combat. Truth be told your amazed you ONLY lost an arm, your innards spilling out, and what you pretty sure is your jaw/face hanging of one off one of the zombie's claws. Sadly you were only able to take out on-correction merely able to wound one.

When abruptly you felt something grip your leg and pull.
>>
>>30485488
well we are currently getting our ass handed to us from every direction, so we clearly have to move somewhere, cause we certainly cant just stand here and fight.

Any chance we can get a vague close up map that shows where we are in relation to the base, the zombies, the reaver, and the monsters?

which as it happened saved your life as you noticed no less then several streams of fluid, gunfire, and slashes attack in unison where you were just standing. That was when you noticed a figure got up from behind you. The one you assumed pull you down.

That was the first time you saw any emotion of the face of a zombie.

Fear.

No matter how mangled or mutated even you could see that.

That was when you heard a voice come from that figure who raised his gun a revolver.

"You know its awfully rude to ignore me when we were having such a good time."

What happened even with your upgraded specs you could barely keep up with. In a flash the twisted revolver fired only for him to use its kick to perfectly take out another zombie while sidestepping delivering a perfectly placed kick on yet another zombie while throwing a knife through the eye of yet another.

Just like that in a blink of an eye the zombies withdrew and the figure turned around walked forward to you and crouched.

...

...

That was when it cocked its head before saying.

"Well its been awhile since I last saw a psi borg though this ones patterns bare resemblance to either i corp or oh I think it twas Ribo designs. Yet different but looks kinda like dem psi bots heh guess thats how you got around the problem eh? Manipulating psi bot tech to create a psi borg interface. Very good but...not pure psi borg tech no? Rather just a cheap knock off jah" with that the figure departs laughing all the while. While dragging away a mangled line of zombie corpses and a fallen borg or two.

Your forces decided to withdraw to the facility figuring that whatever in there has GOT to better then out here.

Surprisingly enough we suffered little casualties on the way to the ruins. Apparently all our guys had the same idea and were all busy heading there anyway. Plus the zombies having other larger concerns also really helped...like a lot.

Besides the already fallen we suffered no more casualties. Wounded on the otherhand...yeah fucking everywhere. I don't there were more then handful who didn't get anything more then a scratch. Whoever that group has got to be some mighty tough cookies(yuck).

Our forces made it to the ruins unfortunately we failed miserably to take much of anything with us. As in we sorta had to leave behind damn near everything and now we are in a facility which our scouts never returned from.

hm any lower and you woulda been in TROUBLE any higher and you would of made a friend. HEHEH.

Considering how scouting failed miserably the first time it was decided that perhaps just maybe...whatever the fuck is in here will be wanting to talk. Luckily for us borgs tend to have some rather loud speakers installed so it wasn't very hard to start a ruckus at a preset location. Where we invited to talk at yet another preset location. That is if we knew of said locations. Instead we just stood there and made lots noise. Sure enough several things happened.

Number 1 we heard a rather loud garbled shout of SHUT UP IM WORKING HERE.

We then heard some rather loud rumbling and the sounds of many pitter pattering feat coming right towards us only to halt.

WAIT IT WASN'T YOU WHO THE FUCK WAS IT THEN?

Oh we got company well send the damned execs then.

Quea much rumbling and shaking of the corroded metal floor.

OH FOR FUCKS SAKE JUST SEND IN SECURITY THEN.

This time the rumbling was so loud and caused so much shaking large rusted flakes fell down from the ceiling before an alarm went off for like...5 minutes. Which then abruptly stopped that was when we heard the ringing of call endlessely which seemed to be ignored. Thus the alarms went off yet again for this time about 10 minutes. Before being cut and a the call sat there ringing before finally be answered.

WHAT!

Do...your...fucking...JOB.

beep.

have you forgotten I am SECURITY NOT a member of those useless fucks...hey can hear me HEY FUCK YOU DAMN IT.

*Crash and mumbling about introduers, secretaries, and bitches ect. Before a door was slammed and we heard quite the ruckus of loud stomping that ended roughly where it stopped last time beyond our view.

OH YOU MOTHERFUCKERS WERE HERE THE ENTIRE FUCKING TIME WHY DIDN'T YOU-ah. a large figure armored strode out into the blinking red light.

This is a quarantined zone get the fuck out before i kill you.

Well we couldn't find much besides a creepy monstrosity of flesh and metal waddling between what you THINK is a medical faculties, engineering bay and a lab. Its worth noting however the engineering bay seems pretty ramshackle. Beyond that everything else is either locked up tight and sprouts odd growths of strange spongy flesh or rods. Our bio detectors went crazy everytime we got closer to them.

Finally we did find a mess hall and living quarters. Both seemed largely empty and surprisingly good shape. We also found what we think was an armory, dojo, Fitness center, Training yard and barracks but we sorta ran into some oddly armored figures who prevented us from really checking it out. They stated that only the fitness center was available for us and everything else was off limits.

We found a vehicle bay but it was being heavily guarded.

We found a series of other areas but they were either under lock down or heavily infested.

Dice gods and a certain goddess never does give me a break now do they?

Well we started looking into exploiting the fitness center for all that it was worth found that it had a the usual stock of fitness gear even a SWIMMING POOL or several. They even had a small shop with some basic meds/stuff inside. We also found an office where we were able to link into the computer and suddenly the fitness center changed.

Security doors, turrets, and even sleeping quarters all arose up and more. Lodging being almost completely taken care of and more. The best part is though besides the security measures, and basic lodging is the simple fact we have direct access to this facility's network.

"heya mark how long did it take us to get even a fraction of that set up for our stay here?"

"You know I am REALLY starting to not like these guys."

Well first they sent in that team that riled EVERYTHING up, then they showed up again in force before persuading Captain Oslo that they would 'try' to take care of the infestation problem, followed by doing that fitness thing at the push of ONE button, and FINALLY drew attention of the infestation located in the center of area. Honestly chalking this up to "good luck" is a load of horsecrap.

Turning on the power isn't 'luck' if all they had to do was find the power button. The place is falling apart and they're in denial.

>>
>>30494821

That's not a bad idea. Although I prefer to remain anonymous.

You know what helped the Memor a lot? Their biofuel factory.

They had just the right amount of a valuable renewable resrouce to sell for resources, but not a pile of gold at the end of the rainbow like Adero had that made all the bandits flock to them for dear life.

Even if we can't strike it lucky with a fleshbrood or getting on good terms with the ghouls, if we're ever going to get to their level or even bandit level again, we need something like that.
>>
>>30494859
I can see where you are coming from. But there is times i think if we could throw ideas out faster and get input sooner it would help. But yeah considering you idea before saying them does help a lot. I just hate waiting about a minute to reply when thinking about what we should do.
>>30494861
Fair.
>>
>>30494991

Keep in mind that if we get a fleshbrood with these guys we have to keep it ON THE DOWNLOW.

We're not mutants or bandits, so we're starting out at neutral/slightly positive relation with all of the 'normal' factions. Broods/ghouls/zombies/mutants would throw us into the negatives hard. Probably even harder than if we were just plain zombies/ghouls/etc because we would be traitors.

Our forces were sent to scout topside. Amazingly we avoided the attention of damn near everything besides a few odd zombies who merely glanced before going on their own business or just shook their head afterward as if they thought they were seeing things.

It all appears clean though what we left behind has been heavily looted and our fallen are nowhere to be seen. Plus it sticks of death/rotting zombie corpses.

We do also have some leads on some nearby factions. Located a few monster dens and even some suspected hives of some kind. Hell we even found some clear routes that lead up deeper into the warrens in the sky or underground.

Right.

I guess with Memor we didn't have to worry as there weren't many normal factions around to care about, and we already started with the mutant penalty from the get go (even with other mutants) but worked to get over it.

Adero started with great resources to sell but made the mistake of mixing mutants and humans for horribly penalties toward everyone.

It's literally impossible to roll for "good terrain"

Off the bat we can list off

- Monsters
As inherently bad because they only think about eating and assimilating
- Bandits
Same here as well, unless the occasional misnomer
That leaves

Mostly isolationists, or supremacists like in Adero. Very xenophobic

This one leaves the only option for those good people trying to survive.

This time around our forces decided to take a time of mourning after looking in the face of their fallen and what seems to keep happening. Not even the words that hardship breeds success seems to be helping. Instead everyone simply becomes mired in mourning all the dead. Somehow putting them at a single wavelength. At first no one thought this would have any effect until just that the mourning grew offly loud despite our small number...louder and louder still. it was then that our forces realized...they were not the only ones mourning anymore.

At first it started off with everyone mourning for the our fallen, then theirs, and finally everyones, but then the sadness/need for mourning continued and it just broke off to begin for other reasons.

Super Soldiers began to not only mourn for their fallen comrades but also for their loss of humanity.

Eyes long dead or having never wept begun to once more feeling watery eyes and wetness on ones cheeks.
Things that could never weep began to feel a strange buzz that allowed them to experience what it felt like.
Things of twisted flesh experienced a massive overwhelming loss.
Things of broken metal realized what it was like to fee.

At a certain HQ during tea time two young ladies sat around enjoying themselves a nice cup of tea having already enjoyed cookies and milk. There they chat until one spoke up.

"Why are you begining to cry," asked Rizal.

I *hic* never...cried upon the death of Daddy*hic*, bawled out Jenny with memories she long kept locked up began to pour out that was when Rizal came to sat beside her comforting her before she too broke down. Not even the infamous most dreaded CEO of Umbra could contain her need for mourning.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7IbQyG9PL4

Somehow someway both things of metal and flesh began to weep the thing causing it feeding of itself and others who get sucked in ever expanding at an accelerating rate.

There zombies began to cry for a reason they could not remember until now...and how they wept that even the coldest of villains or hardest of folk did not break down who could hear those wails.

Where machines first felt what it was like to be living and then realized what they too have gone through too began to weep.

Where monsters began to weep at the agony of their creation, their losses, and what they have done/did.

Where ghouls weeped for the loss of their control, of their twisted bodies/minds, and of what they once were.

Where bandits weeped for the things they have wrought upon others and the thoughts of when they were but children and they have lost/blocked out. Of a memory of playing among the field with friends and family. Of enjoying a meal with their families of being thrown out of being misunderstood. Of being forced into the company of other rejects and worst.

The mourning was such that not even inanimate objects such as buildings, the ground, and even the sky could not help but mourn. Somehow given the ability to feel.
>>
Elsewhere, a forrest filled with spiders grew silent, and a being of solid crystal stood looked among the grove of crystalized memories.
The sorrow of an entire people, their lost dreams and hopes, and the time Richard deleted something very dear to them, flooded him.
For the first time ever, the Crystal Golem felt tears dripping from his face.

Somewhere too, a figure of light stopped walking, sat down, and cried.
That children would never laugh and play in his namesake park, only be sacrificed on altars to false gods.
That he hadn't suceeded in bringing out his beloved from within her guiding light.

Even the masked bandit with the green face, grew sombre, as a slow and sad song played as did his dance slow till he knelt down and cried.

Yet more fitting music.

At first it started with feeling only your own before you got to feel as of others felt. where it just began to feed of each other despite the barriers required they no longer mattered or even existed.

All felt what it was like to lose a brother, sister, mother, father, of losing a friend who fought with you who would no matter come to your aid even if you didn't deserve it.

Of seeing your most precious loved one dying a slow agonizing death.

Of losing your humanity of being trapped yet forced to witness atrocities that you yourself committed.

Of being thrown and forced to join the worst of the worst solely because you didn't fit in.

The sadness was such that it expanded past the borders of a certain complex to envelop a mega city but that wasn't enough to contain it either. It wasn't long before it expanded to encompass the entire world.

For a second time the world experienced a legendary event occurred after seemingly many years.

Somewhere on a battlefield that spanned an entire continent where an army dressed in red once more realized what their mission was fought desperately to hold the line to hold back a Krulsade seeking to envelop the world throwing it once more into darkness. Halted.

There side by side ghoul, soldier, bandit, and even zombie wept side by side upon the battlefield side by side.

Meanwhile on a desolate continent where countless atrocities occurred those who caused them who had felt no remorse and even enjoyed them began to weep for what they have done and more.

Somewhere hidden in a lab a Scientist heard the tears of his super soldiers...who should not have been able to cry. When suddenly he too began to weep as despite his immense self control not even the infamous doctor Volk could contain it. He wept for what he lost, for acts performed, and finally the most worst of all for what he failed to prevent.

Throughout the world the mourning first started for themselves before they mourned for others. Nothing was spared in the mourning. the world mourning occurred and slowly ever so slowly did it eventually burn itself out. Many would not remember who they had all wept for and with but they would remember of what they had wept for themselves.

After the mourning was finally done everyone was confused...for no one knew the origins of it. Just as it had appeared it seemingly disappeared its origins unknown quite possibly to even those who caused it. Much unlike the Memor where word soon spread and the hellish Krulsade it spawned as result.

What would later be remembered for a very simple thing that was beyond wonder due to lack of understanding, what occured, and how it should never happen.

What would be remembered was that since even before quite possibly before the Fall the world experienced...

Peace.

As not even the Krulsade after such a event could bring themselves to continue. The worst of enemies put aside their arms, zombies wept to hard to feed, and oh so much more.

A cult of peace. They are remnants of every faction under the sun, bandits, mutants, monsters, intelligent zombies, whomever. A true coalition of the willing.

Think about it. Earth is at peace. That means megacorps are going to EXPLODE with business. People want to visit the stars.

The CEO's of earth though, are content, and so they send new BBEGCEO to handle it for them.

There are planets out there, with new alien life, or sometimes by accident, the old plagues visit them too.

If you could pull off a post apoc, I know you can pull of a borderlands one.

Then we get here, and lose nearly our entire population to further BAD LUCK.

And honestly the crit successes only made it worse by making it look like we had a chance...only for the flame to be extinguished, then reignited AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Somewhere at sometime.

Dr. Kaharr walked up to Dr. Volk and with one massive slap screamed out "I WIN, YOU JERK."

With Dr. Volk failing to respond after such a delay Dr. Kaharr began to feel a rising tide of panic. There is no way you could of topped this now could he? That was when Richard finally spoke while walking away.

"You beat me the day you didn't fail at the one thing you shouldn't have."

There Dr. Kaharr stood stunned. To think that his greatest rival/foe would be like that. Later he realized that he had actually won long before that...he just never realized it.

>>30497830

Is there any way to begin detecting that we have hidden heroes, so that we can focus on bringing them out?
>>
>>30497800
In the past we have gotten minor captions or lt.'s that if are in the right place at the right time turn hero, thats the only strategic way to "make" a hero, but they all have querks. If we earn one otherwise sometimes we get a list to pick from based on name alone.
>>
Guys, let's reach a consensus right now.
Before the setting, how about we decide on race.

Vault101 yes or no?
And any specifics you propose? (spinoffs, same pop, other, ect.)
>>
>>30497838
...So you HAVEN'T noticed the hints I have been giving out on this sorta thing?
>>
Rolled 95, 61, 22, 17, 18 = 213

>>30497862
Smart considering otherwise I may have to do a civ create again.
>>
>>30497875
Genie, not even our brighest could truly fathom that particular cause.

I tried with contests, but that was a crapshoot. I still do value officers though, very useful in their own regard both early and late game if they survive.
>>
>>30497862
>>30497879

Vault 101, same pop and here in Megacity Ashar.

If there's a time-skip let's start with some resources and our specialist equipment. I'm also fine with starting next turn though.

>>30497875
I have not.
>>
>>30497901

Starting next turn would let us loot and explore while everyone is all peaceful with us.
>>
Rolled 46, 64, 15, 13, 38 = 176

>>30497893
Ah that hints includes potentially elite hidden units and officers you know?

Like come on man I mention that stuff all the goddamn time.
All these votes for sacrificing the victory and those ones wanting to do umbra.

Why not something new?
>>
>>30497862
I still think we should let 101 go with dignity.
>>
>>30497920
I DON"T want to sacrifice vault101's victory.
That's why I wanted to propose a similar think tank with the hub, but with the offspring or sucessors to these vault 101's

>Why not something new?
There was that mutant bug nation that one anon proposed. I'm guessing Flesh, Zombies, Ghoul would be out of the question.

How about you Genie? We've never asked you if you though something would be fun to watch grow and/or die.
>>
Rolled 63, 84, 27, 78, 59 = 311

>>30497925
aww don't want to grind them to dust?
>>
Rolled 1, 12, 61, 31, 2 = 107

>>30497961
uh...tfw when unlike literally any other civ qm i never once cheered on or voted for a faction.

uhm uh.

Well...uh.

a low tech one would be interesting considering everyone avoids them like the plague. I even came up with some nifty lower tech factions to lure some in.

Or hell plain old survivors classic. Never once saw one of those done..like ever.
>>
>>30497920

Well I picked up on your latest one about the guys who made it out of the zombie clusterfuck unscathed (though please note that I've been pretty distracted scrambling to figure out what Option #3 in this life-or-death civ has been)...but I didn't catch any of the others.

Care to recap on them for this civ?
>>
Rolled 81, 86, 86, 23, 36 = 312

>>30497997
I had hinted at some elite scouts/sneaky heroes a few times. That is the big one. Those secret unknown fuckers got REALLY good good.
>>
>>30498010

Like...when? Whenever I re-read the threads I was always focused on looking for hints for dealing with whatever crisis was on hand at that moment.

Hmmm

You know EDE, in Strelok's game there was one proposal of a tribal/survivor/nomad group of humans with a theme of British Safari Huntsmen.

Didrickson's Devils or something they were called.
>>
>>30497995
Nobody likes my ragtag survivor cult lead by (insert former potentially awesome but underused hero) that tries to preserve the history of the fall so we don't repeat our mistakes?

If that's too low tech/human for you guys we could play Mutant Rednecks/Ragtag civ

Led by a certain Spiderborg Riding, Bandit and Lizardman duo by the name of Hjork and York, descended of a Tectus woman, a Syn Hunter, and a Bandit Nanotech infused Mechanic
>>
>>30498038
I'm interested in playing a religious cult, but I'd fear we'd get lose in our puporse with SO many factions and races in one group.
>>
Rolled 33, 85, 28, 7, 51 = 204

>>30498026
I am about to fall asleep here anon I can't be thinking clearly.

>>30498035
yeah I noticed that I was so disappoint when they got passed over.

Seriously though gentlemen safari tribals. How awesome is that and passed over for fucking wannabe mutant nazis(whose shit would most likely get curbstomped quite hard)?

I would take the tribals thank you.

Mutants tend to fuck up when you don't stick with their strong suits that you really sacrifice for.
>>
Rolled 43, 68, 32, 57, 49 = 249

>>30498081
Fucking gentlemen safari hunting tea drinking tribals. Fuck that was awesome only to be passed up for damned nazi mutants. Poor tastes man poor tastes. I guess anons wanted to see mutants 'done properly'.

I intended to show off a proper group of them a few times now but you fuckers keep avoiding them somehow.
>>
>>30498081
>>30498103

I would've preferred the british tribals too.

To be honest, I feel quite uncomfortable writing the dialog for the Darwinyans...
>>
>>30498103
I think it's more of an anon trying to gain inspiration from the Adero mutant supremacists and generally just trying to find something, anything to push the nonexistant fluff toward. Something silly.
>>
>>30498035
If it's up to vote, I'll second that as tribals or whatever you will
>>
>>30498103

Well British Survivors (because I think that fits better than tribals) has my vote.
>>

Survivor/Nomad British Civ, all aboard say "aye".

Aye.
>>
>>30498116
You seem to know anon
But really nazi's? Was there nothing else to come up with?
>>
>>30498075
That's part of it. They have massive internal communication issues, but are brought together by an incredibly charismatic leader. (Maybe Fabio Van Lucca, former bandit leader that has seen the light, vows never to lift a finger in anger again, his followers on the other hand...) maybe no monster or zombies in the cult, but all "humans?"
>>
>>30498151

And with ym vote cast, I'm going to sleep.

I would urge you guys to vote for this post particularly, so we get the COMBINATION and associated bonuses.
>>
>>30498151
Aye
>>
>>30498151
Aye, it's what I voted for in Streloks before they voted mutants in instead

>>30498153
Like I said, it needed something to lean the fluff toward for a bonus, even if it was just an attempt at copypasta of Adero mutants and wasn't particularly imaginative.

Hopefully it stays wacky and doesn't become "serious" nazi's in anyway.
>>
Rolled 90, 63, 73, 15, 80 = 321

>>30498107
You wouldn't believe how jelly I was when I saw that faction idea.

It was like damn a low tech civ AND interesting concept of all things.

>>30498116
Yeah the truth about them though was that they were barely hanging on and their 'support' came from a bunch of mutant bandits who worked together. They had maintained their distance to their 'prestige' by being above such lowly 'scum'.

Which started from their military origins and combined with strong mutations they got really distanced themselves from others leading to said attitude.

I had it exactly worked out why they were that way and how if they changed their ways they could be oh so much nastier.

>>30498107
Yeah problem is your forcing it. Some group like that I would expect a few factors to show up.

1 Scientist who gives no fucks about the 'ideals'. As in the reason they would join is because of what they could get away with then when shit goes to hell they just slink away. Basically think of someone like Richard. He is a PERFECT example as scientists with IDEALS are not TRUE scientists due to those ideals holding them back from true undiluted research. Another way is say someone does exist their research would be flawed and would be looked down upon even by Volk of all people and he is believed to be the most genocidal happy scientist of them all.

2 Scum mutants who actually believe in such a thing. One thing mutants learn the hard way usually from early on is WHY this isn't so and they are stuck looking at SUPER mutants...who also can't seem to break out. This leads to an interesting mind set granted.
>>
>>30498153
It may also have to do with the fact that we just lost to the Red Army and wanted to fluff in rivals for them.
>>
Rolled 10, 56, 91, 65, 18 = 240

>>30498207
bah if only I wasn't so tired I could put that better.

Basically their heroic scientists has a some major flaws that will bite them in teh ass.

A good one to show this is having them deal with a scientist who doesn't give a shit about ideals or ethics.
>>
>>30498207
You could also say the same about scientist who are limited by an ethical code, in the sense that I would imagine he looks down upon them too.
>>
>>30498253
How gives no fucks? Like they clone baby's to evil experiment on?
I am seeing bond villains in our future.
>>
>>30498221
It probably did.

If there are communists in the setting why not nazis, ect. ect.

>>30498081
Funny thing is their fluff they DID just get curbstomped really hard by the Red Army.
>>
>>30498303
>>30498253
I'm not entirely sure where the Memor or the Bandits (Dr. Bicta) would've drawn a line when it comes to science (or if they woud've drawn one in the first place).

Hell, the Memor worked alongside Vass who was a reaver for good business, and they had just seen video tapes of reavers eating live babies.
>>
>>30498338
We willing gave up volunteer's to Volk who had to cut them off from the hivemind to mask their screams of pain.
