Previously: A fight in the desert, Asher puts up a strong defense against a hidden enemy attacking from all sides. The sand sweeps and churns with bullets zipping through the storm at a one-sided opposition until Fara leaps to action against Asher's wishes.
Trusting in the shade he feeds her power enough to annihilate the opposition in one quite literal sweep.

Eshe takes a captive, learning that the young girl's name is DXII: 512. With almost white hair and an adolescent body it seems precarious that one so young would be sent out to a battlefield.
How naive they feel when DXII tells them her true age, six months.
Resisting further lines of questioning the girl dies by her own magic as she commits to suicide through overuse.

Eshe screams, Eshe cries. Yet above all else she tells Asher one thing,"No children."

With a look at a gps the party finds their way to a town called Pahrump on their way to Vegas. With a military convoy progressing down the road in the distance they slip into the town to cloth themselves and pick up news after half a month in the desert.

Yay! More Overhuman.

Also, before we deal with the Church can we get two Mythos Lions, one male and one female, as Lions are one of Asherah's favored animals and we could use some brute muscle.

Also, now that we have ranked up Ice with an Oath, and ranked up Water how much easier and faster is it to freeze things?
>>
So I thought of a cantrip I want to try. Might unlock Explosion magic.

Make a sphere of water and harden the outside to be as hard as we can using Materia Firma. Then Steam the shit out of the inside until it explodes.

Simple, yet effective. Never know when you need on-demand bombs.
Useful as fuck for a magical terrorist.

Oh boy Independence Day coming.
I bet someone's got plans.
>>
You slip on the shades as you leave the store, giving the sky a good long as the sunlight streams down through the aurora. Another day under the oppressive desert sun. You take in a deep breath and haul the goods back. Everyone's going to be pleased with the change of clothes.

You catch a newspaper as you tromp back to the outskirts of town, taking a look at what's been reported from the coastline:
“California Flooded By Wave Of The Century!”
>Government sends aid to California to evacuate refugees to designated shelters.
>Coastline cities have been completely destroyed, travel prohibited due to dangerous roads and wreckage.

”Ren. Co. Announces New Prototype Intellephone.
>Capable of holographic displays, recognition of objects and new EVE system that recognizes and relays information of real time tagged targets. Available for citizen use within the next year. >Revolutionary low price of $499.99 for first version.

“New Energy Initatives Sweeping The Nation...”

You kind of smile at that first thing. If you weren't a mage... Hell, if you weren't a part of that whole thing to see it first hand this would have an entirely different meaning to you.
So Government aid is military personnel. Hot Rod didn't report any tanks or anything earlier. They're probably a hindrance when it comes to fighting magic. Then again, that works out because then they can send as many trucks and personnel as are needed to the site.
It's also likely that no one's going to see these “Refugees” ever again.

Damn, this whole thing is just looking worse and worse.

You hand off the new duds to everyone in an empty lot near the end of town. They all seem to be adequately impressed, at least to not bitch about what you went and got them.
>>
Aerin looks at the clothes and then she and Helia look each other over,”Ah, Asher do we have enough money for a motel? Could really go for a shower before we get anything to eat.”
“What? Don't want me to magic you up a shower? I promise I've gotten pretty good at using my water.” You smirk at the beefed woman as she regards you with a shrewd stare. You just kind of shrug,”What?”
Aerin looks away a bit, her face wearing a sullen kind of frown,”I'd really rather not Asher.”

The fuck? That was funny.

“I think that we'd all be better off with a real shower, right Eshe?” Helia looks over to Eshe as she's putting on her clothes without regard for everyone's stares. She stops in the middle of hiking up the skirt you purchased like a deer caught in the headlights.
“I'm sorry? What?” She looks as though she hadn't been listening.

“Well, she'd pass for a dirty hippy. Maybe we should play her off as one?”

Hot Rod sniffs one of his pits before going near cross-eyed,”Ah, yeah. You know what, Eshe can do what Eshe does. Hot Rod needs a shower man, let's go.”

Hot water and plumbing is a blessing that you'd nearly forgotten as it soaks away your misery and stings the vision sunburn riddling your skin. If anything you're going to be glad for more clothes if you all need to start walking again. You're going to be peeling for days once this shit heals. The sun is not kind.

The girls are all sharing one room, despite Eshe asking why you all can't sleep together. Aerin and Helia try to explain the reasons, yet you take initiative to just put down money for two rooms, one night each for now Not confirmed yet for when you're all going to “Make a scene.” yet. You insisted on scoping out the churches first.

After a round of showers everyone heads to a diner for lunch. Finally, real fucking food. You order a BLT with a side of fries and sink your teeth into the mess of food. As you all talk about inconsequential things. Too many people around to get around to talking about magic or anything else.

You've got a few days until Sunday and you're in this place on business... Might as well make some preparations.

>[] Check out the Library. Maybe a refresher on myth and legend or other bits?

Oftentimes the old folks that act as librarians are big into the church and community. Just walk in there, say we're passing through on business but we had a couple days respite and figured that this was a nice place to stay. Yada yada yada nice conversation oh hey so I was gonna be here Sunday and I don't really like to miss church when I can help it [friendly smile]. You know where I could catch a service around here?

Then we can check out some books about a few things and scope the churches that the wrinkled librarian tells us about.
>>
>>30509951
>[] See if there's a gun store anywhere. You'd like to carry iron.

If we have a few days, we should do this early. I think there is usually a waiting period in most states to get a gun.
>>

>[] Check out the Library. Maybe a refresher on myth and legend or other bits?
>>
>>30509951
>[] Check out the Library. Maybe a refresher on myth and legend or other bits?

We should probably brush up on our Demonology and Sumerian mythology. Read up on Asherah, go through what summons we can pull from Sumerian and other Mesopotamian myths, and maybe find a copy of the Ars Goetia online.

>>30510029
This too, ask a Librarian about churches, it's easier than walking to all of them.
>>
>>30509951
>[] Check out the Library. Maybe a refresher on myth and legend or other bits?

Also while we are at it we could ask the librarian what this place is like since we are new here.

Even if we are just passing through.
>>
The gun thing gives me an idea.

Would it be possible to make an Oath that forbids using mundane weapons? Put that on Steam or something else (Hell, I want to take summoning to Divine and I wouldn't mind this oath on it). Got the whole "I will only rely on my magic to fight and not weapons" thing going.
>>
>>30510029
>on business
Not that. This is a weird place to stay for so long on business. Just say passing through, but everything else is cool. Maybe say we're on a trip with friends and everyone is exhausted and wanted to rest for a bit.
>>
>>30510160
Problem with that is if we end up with too much burn and need to improvise with something nearby.

If it offsets the burn enough though then maybe it'll be worth it
>>
>>30510160
That is possible. No swords, shields, guns or anything else if it's a mundane weapon oath.

You may want to wait until you see how well you use your spells right now since you've got 2 spells up to apprentice rank and haven't really done much yet.
You may also want to wait until you meet Jackie.
>>
>>30510160
If we put it on anything I'd say Materia Firma.

It's an amazing support skill that we use regularly, but we aren't going to take it to Divine.
>>
>>30510298
>You may also want to wait until you meet Jackie.

>>
>>30510094
There is. But you could always just break the law.

It's worth noting that the thoughtform we spoke to laid claim to lots of identities, including Loki, so we might have an in with frost giants and all kinds of gribblies.
>>
>>30509951
>>[] See if there's a gun store anywhere. You'd like to carry iron.
Go get a fucking revolver. Nice to have something to rely on when the drain fucks us in the ass. Which it will, many times.
>>
>>30509951
>>[] Check out the Library. Maybe a refresher on myth and legend or other bits?
>[] See if there's a gun store anywhere. You'd like to carry iron.
Get some books on Lucifer.
>>
>>30510578
True, there are some good choices in Norse myth. And Loki would open a lot of doors.

His daughter Hel has a damn fine collection of summons, we can get elite warriors, brutal ravens, fire dragons, poison dragons, and more from Helheim. Also we can use Fenrir's brood as a source for wolves.

Though in some ways I prefer lions over wolves for our standard beast summon.
>>
You take the initiative to go to the library curious about your dreams. Lucifer and Asherah. If you could find out more about those two, brush up on your reading of those two there may be so much more to find out. If you could summon one of them... Well, you may be able to give Fara a break now and then.

When you tell everyone that, the only one that's disinterested is Aerin,”I guess I could find a manual or something. What'd you plan on finding there?”
You give her a shrug,”I figure that we could learn more magic if we just looked into it. Nothing says that this is any different from anything occult written right?”
“Nothing says that its the same either,”Aerin blows that off. “Aren't you strong enough as-is? With that thing that hangs around you?”

“Fara.” You and the shade speak at once, her ghastly voice on the air.
“Right. You're listening?”
“Sort of. You don't ever really ever have anything interesting to say.” The phantom chides Aerin with a condescending attitude, you can't help but to stifle a smile because it's true.
Aerin seems to catch your amusement with offense,”Well excuse me for being boring. I've just got nothing to go off of for my power aside from boxing steps and punches. Hot Rod's got that weird predator thing going on and Eshe's changes into a damn fish.”

“To be fair it is an electric eel. It was suggested to me by a well-read friend. You could benefit from study Aerin.” Eshe smiles through her dorky 80's shades.

“Alright then.” Aerin concedes.

Your stay at the library is an uncomfortable one. Five rag-tag people going in with viscous sunburns, an unwillingness to show their ID's, and hogging the PCs after dropping a twenty for the time.
You expected something more though as you browse the web trying to search up topics such as Satanism, Asherah, Lucifer, Prometheus.
>>
>>30510927
>Five rag-tag people going in with viscous sunburns, an unwillingness to show their ID's, and hogging the PCs after dropping a twenty for the time.
Oh god I just realized how sketchy this must look
>>
It's all blocked. Or if not the sites for them don't exist.

You roll on up to the service desk and ask the librarian about it,”Ah, hey lady. You got any books on mythology or anything like that?”

The librarian's a bit of an older lady with wrinkles just starting on her face. She peers at you through an out of style pair of glasses, appraising you,”We require a library card to look at those materials. We can't allow access unless you're carrying. Would you like to sign up now?”

You stare her down for a moment before shifting your gaze to the desk in contemplation. You'd have to show her your state ID with address.
It's risky because it'd likely send a flag to "Big Brother" that you passed through here as a citizen of ground freaking Zero of the Follower's attack...

Alternatively you could make a scene here. That gets you smiling just a little bit. You've got more control over your own life. Law is optional.

"Sir?" The woman prods you with a word,"Would you like to sign up?" She seems to be losing her patience as her eyes glance back to a stack of books she'd been sorting.

>[] "Yeah, here you go."

Honestly, I don't think it's really necessary. We can always just ask Lucifer for some books or something if we really need to.

I would still like a gun.
>>
>>30511068
"That's odd. Why would they do anything like that?" Icy voice and make the water in the air cool just a bit to push forth the discomfort. Perhaps we can intimidate her without giving ourselves away~
>>
>>30511068

I think that's a good start. Though we aren't that amazing at illusion.

What we could do is have Hunter pickpocket someone so we know what a Nevada state ID looks like, put a thin layer of water/ice over it, change it to our picture, change the name, since we can alter small image details.

It's a lot harder to fuck up the ID creation if we have one to base it off of.

That's smart. Really smart.

>>30511404
Thank you.

Also, I think we can use Materia Firma and our ability to make stuff hot/cold so that it's not going to be distinguishable from another ID except being a tiny bit thicker due to the water.

>>30511458
This is good stuff. We need to keep a low profile until the big moment. No need to risk something just to read a few books.

You look back up at the woman with an apologetic look,”I'm sorry I actually left my wallet at the motel...”
She raises an eyebrow at you, “When you knew that you were coming to a library?” She just kind of shakes her head at you like you're some kind of idiot as she gets back to sorting through her books, scanning the ones coming back in.

You put up a pleasant smile fitting the role,”Yeah, it's stupid of me, I know. Should've been more prepared.” You laugh it off under your breath. Fucking bitch doesn't even know who she's dealing with.
“I'm in town until this weekend and I don't really like missing church. Know of a good one?”

Without fully acknowledging you, she lists off an address and tells you about Choice Hills Baptist. You can't help but smile as the irony of that name.

“Thank you, that helps a lot, hope I'll see you there.” You end the conversation on that note and slide into one of the tables, rapping her fingers over the table as your associates look at their own bit o reading. You notice that Eshe's just kind of people watching, not touching a book.
“You already finish?” You say, snapping her out of a lull. She smiles at you, her dark cheeks having almost a rosy mirth.
“Ah, yes. Well.. “She leans over to you with an almost bashful look,”I was never taught how to read. It is nice watching other people here.” She adjusts herself in her chair, legs spread wide open yet out of sight.
“They would be powerful if they awaken.” She looks you in the eyes, some of that mirth dissolving,”We are going to church Sunday, yes?”

“Yeah, I've got a place and address. It'll be interesting. A start on whatever we're doing too, right?” You say that, but you're more interested in what you've been promised from Asherah and Lucifer.
“If anything the people will defend themselves and cover our tracks. They will know what they must do.” Eshe whispers, keeping her voice down.
>>

>>
>>30512376
Okay. We have some preparations to make for the game plan.

In the time before now and Sunday I want us to have maybe 2-4 lions charged up and ready to use, I'd prefer Mythos. They are great for intimidating a crowd and covering exits.

Before the sermon we'll have wanted to spend time getting moisture nearby, preferably under the floor and plenty of it.

At a dramatic point we stand up, stop the guy from talking by blocking his mouth, but let him breathe. Have the water itself bind him, form into a crucifix, and hoist him up. We have the doors, windows, and so on blocked off with walls of ice as well as lions prowling nearby. Use our Ice and Illusion to have sheets of Ice behind us displaying appropriate images. We may as well be theatrical about this.

We give a speech, we drown the priest in front of them in a suitably dramatic fashion. We begin their "enlightenment" after that.

Talk to the rest of our party about the plan before we do it, refine who is covering what exits and so on. Tell them that we're planning on giving a speech and we'll need them on crowd control. If anyone tries to interrupt either us or one of our team mates puts them down.

Also make sure to talk to Eshe about this beforehand so we know what we actually need to do to Enlighten people, how to select people properly and ensure they awaken.

>>30512603
Oh, and don't forget to mention that we're drowning the priest, be very matter of fact about it when planning.
>>
>>30512542

>>
>>30512603

The Followers tidal wave cities for the shock and awe factor. I'm sure she'll be fine with drowning a dude.
>>
>>30512603
To long have you ignored Asherah!
To long have you abused her water!
>>
Dran, did Lucifer give us his permission to use his warriors or do we need to awaken some people before he lets us?
>>
>>30512723
Not the drowning. The whole speech thing.
>>
>>30512749
Neither of them reveled the fruits of our labors.
>>
>>30512603
I think it works better if we walk up to the front than if we just stand, though. And for a situation like this, something closer to a thoughtform might be easier to work with. It's just a lion or two.
>>
Guys, guys! I know the plan is important and everything. But can we quickly reach a consensus on what we do right right? We can gather the party and discuss it at the motel.

I'm in favour of teaching Eshe to read.
>>
>>30512603
If I remember correctly, the wording was "Give his life to the water."

Why don't we slash his throat and bleed his life's blood into a basin of holy water?
>>
>>30512680
As long as we don't target kids I think she'll be alright with what we do.

Also, we should make a mask out of Ice to wear, we can have it shift its expression with magic.

>>30512750
Why would the speech be a problem? An ancient Goddess seeking revenge against you is one way to forcibly break their worldview, and then afterwards we hurt them and they should awaken.

>>30512817
I forgot to mention the walking up on stage bit, I glossed over some details.

And I prefer Mythos for this because they tend to be more powerful, and we don't really need the customization that a Thoughtform gives us. Not that it's a really big deal either way.
>>
You stare at Eshe for a moment as she gets back to looking at people. You've got to give it to her, despite how quick she is to rush into a front-line scenario she's an extremely patient woman. Not the worse to look at either even if she does turn into a freaky fish monster.
Your stare catches her look again as he eyes swivel to meet yours,”Something the matter Asher?”

You get up, a hand lingering on the desk,”Come here a sec, I'm gonna read you a book.”

Eshe follows with a bit of curiosity as you head into the children's section, getting an odd look from some of the other visitors, even your own group.

You read her through a few childrens' books and she actually seems to be quite humored by the whole experience. You feel it's a bit out of your usual character but she seems pleased by it. A couple kids even come up to you, staring at your bandaged eye as they listen.
Eshe keeps points here and there when she recognizes a word.

It's no reversion to child-hood however. You can tell by her demeanor she still carries herself as a woman here. Albeit more shameless to her shortcomings due to the difference in culture.

After a bit, you see that the others look ready to go and pack yourself up, setting the books on a table.

Eshe smiles to you as you all leave.

You're actually rather surprised that Fara hasn't said anything through all of that.
(You mad?) You ask through your connection with the shade. No response.
(You're mad aren't you...) Further silence.
(I know you're mad.)
[I am... But it was really nice alright. Better than you staring at her ass like some sex-starved hobo.]

You look down at that. Well, she's got you there.
>>
>>30512959
Oh snap~
>>
>>30512959

>>
>>30512959
>>30513018
"Ooo, ouch, that's cold, Fara." *grin
>>
>>30512959
"Well, that's somewhat of an accurate description, when you think about it."
>>
>>30512891
One of the reasons I like drowning that we can drown him with a obviously magical set of tendrils of water that reach up from the basin and then curve to drown the priest.

I'd like the kill to be a magical spectacle of some kind. I want it to be obviously impossible that such a thing could possibly happen in a normal world.
>>
>>30513049
We can unlock hemomancy by stabbing the water-tendrils into his neck and siphoning the blood out.
>>
>>30513077
That would be sufficiently dramatic, the basin slowly turning red as the Priest is desiccated in front of his flock.

Well and truly returning his life to the water.
>>
>>30513077
Hemomancy is the single most useless type of magic for a nerve.

You have to make physical contact with people to manipulate their bodies.
>>
>>30513125
We don't need to upgrade it. Just unlock the ability to use it.
>>
>>30513125

Unupgraded, it will be less powerful than just using Hydrokinesis on their blood.
>>
>>30513146
no, even if you do get good at it
>>
>>30513146
No, it always will. That's one of the main rules of the setting. You can't directly effect another human's body without direct contact.
>>
>>30513171
Yes. I want to collect as many abilities as possible. Don't even want to use all of them.

>>
>>30513288
>>30513300
Ah, well I can agree then. Hemokinesis getting added to unlearned would be cool, but actually buying it would be kinda dumb. Well, probably. If we combine it with the life aspect of water, we might unlock healing. Actually using hemokinesis for fighting is dumb, but it might be decentish for unlocking healing.
>>
>>30513262
We could just do that with water though. A person's body is 70% water, and that's 83% for their blood. Getting haemomancy would help only marginally more in a very specific situation. It's a complete waste.
>>
>>30513347
>>30513262
>Summon Fara or any other kind of summon to just kill him and unlock the cell for you
>Or just bend/burn/delete the bars
>>
(Yeah, well. After this I should be able to do more than just look.) You smirk to yourself.
[Ooo. Asher's got the Jungle fever, huh? Maybe you'd like it if I had an ass too? Oh wait, I'm dead.] Fara pouts, going silent again. She's been a bit more stubborn since you've given her more power. So long as she stays loyal it won't matter.

“You learn anything nice Aerin?” Eshe looks over at the woman, ignorant of your little mental argument.

Aerin kind of shrugs,”Some stuff I might try out. I'll need to see how it works out. Where are we training anyway?”

Hot Rod peeks into the conversation,”Yeah, I'd actually like to know that too. Could use some iron since I had to dump that rifle.”

“Think that handguns could punch through Bulletproof?” You ask the kid, Bulletproof being the name of a self-enchant Eshe taught the three of them. Even Veins can do it. It just maked small projectiles round off of them by a dead stop or slipping off. Whichever they'd rather do actually.
You helped them practice by throwing hardened water bullets at them in the desert.

“I don't know man, but it beats having to use my bare hands or a stick. How am I gonna defend myself with a stick?” Hot Rod rolls his eyes, adjusting his shorts as they hang just off his ass despite you telling him to use the belt. Still using it wrong,

“What about the Step-in I taught you?” Aerin comes in again. She adapted Eshe's lesson for high-speed movement into what's essentially one long distance boxing step in. As opposed to covering a few feet, it covers a few yards despite the fact that it gives them the shakes with repeated use.
Hunter doesn't really have an answer for that as you all go on discussing magic when there's no passer-bys bothering you.

Being back in a town is nice to say the least. Your stolen wads of cash are holding up well too.

Let's get some beast-kin summoned and contracted. I say Asherah's Lions from Mythos. Try to get two of them, a male and a female, the male is a bruiser, the female is the more agile hunter.

Make sure to pick up some meat beforehand, negotiations might go better if we feed them first.

We can summon low-tier summons like referenced people or non-godly animals, Duke Barbatos is a couple steps beyond what we can pull off.

I for one would like it if we treated fara with a bit more respect. yes she's acting like a jealous girlfriend but that's because she's so literally attached to us, and she has a possessive personality. but anyway we realy should at least try not to hit on eshe so much. she swore an oath of celibacy didn't she? no point barking up that tree anyway.
>>
>>30513772
WAIT! Let's go there and torture some sluts and have the awaken. It'll appease Lord Lucifer and gives us practice for when we go to the Church.
>>
>>30513871
This. Let's make the church awakening work first. I highly doubt the church is going to be too hard of a target, unless we go stirring up trouble.
>>
>>30513920

We sorta did that to her on purpose so she'd be more willing to kill for us.

You tell the others after you all hit the motel that you'd like to practice magic.

“Ah, I'm actually gonna go get a hot dog or something. What was the address of that church again? I'll look at that too. “ Hot Rod says as he leaves, with Aerin going after him.
“I guess I'll go too. Don't want to sit around too much.”

Helia leaves too,” I'm going to walk around, I'll be back by evening.”

You look at Eshe as she sits cross-legged upon the floor. “Well, aren't you leaving too?”
She blinks at you slowly before looking at the door, seeming to think about something. “No, I trust them. Well, Hot Rod more than Aerin. That one craves power yet lacks conviction.”

“Then what about me? Why are you watching me?” You ask, as you head into the bathroom, plugging the sink as you run the water. Setting yourself up for magic practice.

Eshe smiles as she watches you from her seat, “Asher, you know I've always been watching you.”

You turn as the water runs, filling to the brim,”What?” A question and a demand to know what she means.

Eshe senses this, and stands up to meet you in a way. She's shorter than you, but suddenly she seems... large. “You are my responsibility because you are one I have saved.” She's looking you right in the eye, her expression resolute and unflinching.
“So I have watched you since you joined us. I am impressed with you Asher.”

The water begins to spill onto the floor and you hastily turn it off, looking at her in the mirror. “This some sort of Follower's thing? I've heard of the Chinese saying things like this. You are responsible for someone you save. Something like that?”

Eshe leans her head to the side,”Something like that. But this is my own decision. I saw you stand there while so many others fled. I thought, 'That one. Yes, that one.' And when you were caught in the wave, I gave breath to you.”
>>
>>30514884

>>
>>30514884
Hey. Back off.
>>
>>30514884
"...y-you too."
>>
You look down at the water now, feeling for your power as you make it rise from the basin,”I gave up then. I saw how hopeless it was with that wave towering beyond all reason, like the Ocean had come up to swallow everything. You saved a sack of shit like me instead of someone more deserving.”
You freeze the water, although it's still a slow process not to your tastes. You'll need to freeze the church doors closed to keep everyone inside...

You look back to Eshe in the mirror,”I feel sorry for you. Lots of much better people than I.”

Eshe gets off of the bed at that point, slipping behind you, and resting a hand upon your shoulder as you stare back tiredly. “Asher. You don't seem to understand yourself yet. I could have saved a much worse person to join the followers. The point is that I did not save someone better or worse. Only that I saved you. I do not worry about what-ifs because they are not.”

You relax a bit as her hand slides from your shoulder as she returns to the bed, watching you again. “Am I really fit for the Followers?”
Eshe's voice gets that icy bite to it, the same one that she gets whenever Aerin seems to falter,”It is not whether you are fit or not. It is the path you have chosen instead of the peace or blood. Together we must all walk, to regret is to betray ourselves and all that have walked before us.”

It's starting to make more sense now. Why she gets that cold and distant look whenever she senses dissent. Betrayal.

You've betrayed your own nation to join the followers. Your own life and survival for a new banner. It was a choice given and a choice made. The way Eshe talks. If you turned on the followers she'd likely kill you as she's accountable for your actions.
She's barely said what she thinks so far. And the way that she just ignores all those other little things? You can't get a clear handle on her.
>>
You commit yourself to practice. No more talking.

We only want to kill one person, we want to maim and Awaken the others. Wendigos are not the most rational summons and would probably just start eating people's heads.

The acronym you wanted was e.g., for exempli gratia, use like 'for example.' Fara is an example of a shade, shades in general aren't also known as Fara.

Huh. I wonder if we could even summon slenderman or if we'd have to do a not-slenderman thoughtform like we'd have to for a darth vader summon.
>>
>>30515166
Why wouldn't you want lions?

They're the only big cat that's a pack hunter, we get tough bruisers with male lions and faster hunters with female ones, and they're the favored animal of Asherah.

That's about the most practical combination for a beast-kin summon that you can find, especially if we get a pride.

Before anything else you focus intently upon your ability to freeze water into ice. Letting power drip with only a dull burn incurred seems to be too slow for practical use. Best for chilling drinks than actual defense. Yet pouring it on tends to inflict massive burn as you flash-freeze a wall. Yeah, that hurts like a bitch.

You start to consider solutions to this issue. An oath could fix it. Friend said that Oaths are powerful right?

Eshe seems to catch the concern on your face,”What are you doing?”

“Trying to figure out how to make this spell less shitty. Too little power and it freezes slow and acts like slush. But when I rush the freeze it takes to much and fucks my nerves up. Was thinking of an Oath.”

“Celibacy?” The first thing she says, and a look at her face makes you remember that she's capable of sarcasm.
“Ah, don't fuck with me like that. Celibate, heh. No freaking way.” You look back down at the water, creating a new form from it.

“Well what do you want from that power?”

“I want to protect myself with it. I can use steam or Fara if I need something dead...” It occurs to you that you haven't summoned anything since Fara.. It's just been Fara for the past two weeks.

“Well, why not forbid yourself from striking? There are some followers that forbid their magic from being used for a certain purpose. If your ice is to protect, then make it to protect.” Eshe lays back on the bed, stretching herself out.

That. That is an idea.

Staring at yourself in the mirror you think of what you want. You let your eye glow that cyan blue originating from your optic nerve.

“I swear to...” You trail off there, thinking about this more carefully.

“I swear to never kill with my ice. I will never freeze water to inflict harm. I swear this to myself.”

You suddenly feel strange, as though something's assisting you as you feel a load taken off of your mind.
>>
>>30516525
Oh boy. Here come the raging icefags...
>>
You create a frozen ball that forms about as quickly as you imagine it without much of a burn at all. It's solved.

Now... The summon.

You run the water again and tell Eshe about what you're going to do.

“Alright, I'm watching. If it tries to kill you, I will get rid of it.”

“Thanks for the vote of confidence.”

Wielding your power you tap into something you've been thinking about. A mighty unkillable beast. Poisonous and acidic sure but.. That's just the thing you need. Especially if you want to get rid of a body.

The shades are closed, the doors are locked and the sink is running water all over the floor as you tap into your power further, lighting up like a christmas tree with several of your nerve clusters searing through your flesh.

Gritting your teeth, you see the water begin to move as the beast rises from the primal waters even as your flesh rebels.

Vapors rise from the moving water and you feel a sweep of air push it away.
[This thing doesn't look friendly Asher...]
(That's the point.)
You complete the initial summoning of the creature as the water takes form and color of twin serpent heads snapping and hissing at each other from a body still attached to the flowing water like an umbilical as its body forms into a thick snake-like trunk.

With a last-moment change of heart you give the things four legs to walk upon. Fuck god taking away snake's legs.

The thing seems to notice you at this point as it stares at you with a predatory glare. Despite the pain, it fades quickly... You get the feeling that this thing may be a bit less intelligent than you'd have liked.

It takes a step forward, both heads staring at you intently, its tail coiling and moving dangerously.

Do we have any food? I suggested that we pick up meat earlier, and feeding it would probably make things go better.

I say start by carefully giving it a piece of meat, being calm, showing that we're not going to hurt it, and once it starts eating then raise its intelligence up a bit, don't make it too smart.

We'll want to get contract stuff at least partially dealt with before we're dealing with a human intelligence.

She's unusual.

I like Fara, but we don't know this summon, it's a venomous beast, we shouldn't raise it up too quickly before we have a handle on how to manage it.

You put out a hand even as Eshe steps up, her body glowing faintly in preparation for the thing's strike.
“Asher...” She speaks low as the thing's ready, its bear-like claws flexing against the carpet, tearing into it.

You feed it power, granting it some modicum of intelligence to open a real negotiation. Its serpentine eyes seem to “see” you rather than glaze over like a rabid dog eying a steak.
It continues to hiss low between the two heads as they seem to be communicating to some degree.

You let it continue for a few moments before you interrupt,”I am Asher, your summoner. I would like to make a contract.”

The serpents stare at you once more before seeming to smile,”No-name. Sssum-moned.” They take turns speaking between hisses and other venomous sounds.
“Asssh-er Ssssu-mmon. What-get?”

You stare at the thing, trying to make sense of the broken words,”I get you?”

“No! What-get...” Their hisses grow louder as one opens its mouth, unfolding fangs.”What-give!”

You understand a little. “What will I give you?”

They calm down a bit, a tongue flicking out of one of their mouth's,”Yessss.”

>>
>>30517434
That seems to be the worst to best received options. We basically summoned him to fuck shit up, right?
>>
>>30517483
Pretty much. A Fara alternative.
>>
>>30517434
>[] be a wild beast. Just stop when I tell you to.
I think this one fits best with what he is.
>>
>>30517434

"Listen. All you need to know if that if you follow my every word. You will be granted your greatest desires"
It has baby intelligence. Treat it like you would a baby.
>>
>>30517508
I really don't think it'll buy that, it may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but it's kinda cagey and hostile. I don't think that'll work.
>>
>>30517508
That's the worst contract ever. You're giving it the power to basically force us to do whatever it wants.
>>
>>30517483
Hydra's are also good damage sponges.

>>30517434
In return you will guard who or what I tell you to guard and kill what I tell you to kill. (The lernean hydra supposedly guarded an entrance to hell)
>>
>>30517497
If we end up with that then at least add a
caveat.

Never attack a follower of susej which includes us as well.
>>
>>30517568
Let's not take that chance. We can't be sure we'll never have to fight one, so it's better to take their allegiance only to us.
>>
>>30517434
I like >>30517563

We don't want him to just rampage indiscriminately, Hydras are extremely good as guards as they can combat multiple foes at once and if they get some poison in them then the Hydra just has to outlast them, and regenerate through the wounds. And we can still send him in to rampage if we need to.

Also, since it's a Thoughtform we can modify it and we might be able to give it fire breath for each head later.

We should have a caveat that it is to protect us and those we travel with unless we say otherwise.
>>
>>30517611
>Also, since it's a Thoughtform
Is it? I'm sure that Hydras are Myth..
>>
So "Guard who and what I tell you to, kill who and what I tell you to" ?
>>
>>30517628
Indeed, if we had summoned Lernaean Hydra we would be doing Mythos, but we made a Baby Hydra based on the myths of the Hydra.
>>
>>30517434
>[] be a wild beast. Just stop when I tell you to.
>>
>>30517563
>>30517631
Sounds about right.
>>
>>30517434
Don't care which one we pick just add a
caveat to never attack Asher at least.
>>
>>30517735
I was just going to put Asher as priority 0 on his guard list. Making it explicit can't hurt, but that does set up a precedent for adding complexity and I fear eventually having to hire a lawyer to go over all the contracts we make in the quest. (realistically I fear wasting tons of time going over stipulations and caveats and requirements, and wording and blahblahblah)

“Guard who I say to and kill who I tell you to. By default you will guard myself and my allies.”

The serpents hiss this out between themselves, interested in this prospect.
They eventually reach a decision after snapping at each other a bit. “Sssuitsss. Yesss.”

“So it's agreed then? You ask in confirmation. You need to be sure of this. Especially with how dangerous these things are.

“Will-do. No-more.” They stare at you expectantly.

“Alright then, that works. You protect or you kill and you guard the people I like.” The Hydras hiss in agreement.

On that note they dematerialize, leaving the water that's been running into the room as is. It takes some time to clean up, but Eshe congratulates you on the contract while Fara expresses her worry of the thing. You reassure her, but that doesn't clam her up at all.

By evening Hot Rod and Aerin come back along with Helia. The girls split off to their rooms and you're stuck with Hot Rod in your room with the lingering smell of sulpgurs from the Hydra in the room.

“So, you and Eshe were alone, huh?” Hot Rod starts off from his motel bed, staring at the ceiling before he turns his head in the sheets to look at you,” Your ghost-chick let you get some ah that?”

“Please Hot Rod, you have no idea the kind of game that I've got, you know I did.” You roll over, facing away from him.

“Holy shit dude, really? I can't believe that shit!”

Without looking back,”Really shouldn't I was pulling your chain.

The next morning Aerin and Hot Rod talk about the church. They found four exits as the place is a repurposed school. Just enough for everyone except you to cover as you need to the deliver the speech. Rest of the rooms are for kiddies though. Beyond your purview as Eshe one more reminds no kids.

July 2nd. Just a few more days until the church.

I'm worried about the hydra. It's power-hungry and unwilling to do anything more than it has to.

Level 2 at most.
>>
I remember you saying something about Leviathan alchemy or something.

Were you saying that we could use alchemy to turn a summon into a physical being?
>>
>>30517896
>Hot Rod
I do wanna get him another gun sometime. He kinda needs it.
>>
>>30517974
Not saying you couldn't.

But the summon could be given or infused with Alchemy, giving it the ability to create alchemical reactions as it moves.
Basically made of explosions.

If someone would be so kid as to Archive. My eyes don't want to stay open much.

Also, thanks for playing, it's been a joy.

That's the bad right there. I know that you can't really help it because of your job or whatever, but waiting to learn how long we have to wait always drives me crazy. It's preferable to having threads sprung on us with no warning, but it's still maddening.
