Notes on Rolls and Voting:

When I request rolls, each set of three rolls counts for one action. For example, a two-step plan would take the first 6 linked rolls. A particularly bad failure can interrupt a string of actions.

When rolling 1d100, I will consider criticals within the first ten linked rolls. Only criticals that occur in the first three rolls will be counted as "supercrits". This is still the case even if you'd have plan long enough to require more than ten rolls.

When rolling 1d20, the rules are the same, but I only consider criticals for the first five rolls, rather than ten. Criticals in the first three are still "supercrits".

When a plot choice results in extensive debate, I'll try to weed out the most popular trains of thought, and then call a vote on them. When voting, please respond with only a link back to the post and the number corresponding to your opinion. Other votes are discounted, including those with dice rolls or extra spaces.

Finally, note that this is not a democracy; it is a benevolent dictatorship.

Recent Events Summary:

You pursued Matthel into the bowels of the cathedral, and managed to subdue him. However, you let your guard down, and he used the opportunity to warn Metatron to release the sigil's anchor and move it to safety.

Arcturis, Hemmelus, and yourself entered the sigil cavern to stop Metatron. A prolonged battle forced Metatron to activate his most powerful spell, which, while killing him, managed to hold you off long enough to transport the sigil to safety.

You're now regrouped with your allies, and Arcturis, who has comitted himself to your alliance. With Sandalphon scheduled to arrive the next morning, however, he worries that you have no advantages - and now that the fourth demon lord has been summoned, you need every friend you can get.

You've consulted with Adavan, who managed to steal the final key to Hecate's seal during the battle against Metatron. You've agreed to free Hecate, after discussing the plan with your inner circle - Donovan, Auriel, Abigail, and Ila.

You then brought together Auriel and Fang, who agreed that it was the time to contact the Black Lady. But when you called, she didn't answer.

Later, you revealed the plan to unseal Hecate. Auriel didn't protest, but insisted she wouldn't help you, still unable to forget the war she fought against the former. You went with Abigail, Ila, and Adavan. A demon lord made a surprise appearance, but you managed to get away without any problems.

You unsealed Hecate, and have gotten her up to speed on current events, and on Erebus's original plan.

You returned to Arland, and briefly spoke with Sandalphon, who has brought his angels and his allies from Atlantis - and the Black Lady.

After surviving a sudden assination attempt, you brought your assailant to Fang for questioning. He worked with Auriel to pry what they needed from him. Sandalphon was only using his arrival to draw your attention from an assault on the Nemesis!

>Last time...

Auriel stands up. Her hands clench into fists. She looks at Fang. "Put him in that fucking thing if you want, I don't care. John, we need to go, now!"

"What?!" the angel says. "But you said - "

"You're lucky I don't kill you myself!" she shouts. "They're going after Donovan. This was all just a distraction!"

"Well, since he's no longer useful..." Fang opens the box and channels Spirit.

Wong releases the angel's bonds. The angel's arm is dragged toward the box's opening. He grabs his wrist with his other arm and tugs, digging in against the stone with his boots, but the box's pull is inescapable. He screams as his hand is sucked into the lid, and then his entire arm, all the way up to his shoulder. He begins to bend, and his head is pulled in next, and then his body, warped into the wood until he's gone.

Fang shuts the box. "Let's get going. What's our fastest available route?"

"Hamil and I have an active portal and communication link," Adavan says, "but while he's moving on the Nemesis, it'll be unstable. Can you provide the groundwork?"

"Certainly," Fang says. He focuses. Against the far wall of the dank bunk-room forms a sigil of spirit, half on the floor, half twisted up onto the wall. Adavan steps forward and focuses.

"You're opening a portal onto the Nemesis?" you ask.

Auriel nods. "Don't disturb him. He's waiting for Hamil to answer. Get ready to go through."

"Did the angel say anything else?"

Auriel shakes her head. "No, but the Ring City only brought 4 airships, didn't it? The Velarion has no power core, and the Noiralev is a wreck - that leaves them 2 to spare. If they're both attacking the Nemesis, it could be in trouble."

"The Nemesis made it through the Skysever," you say. "I'm not worried."

"But it has no weapons," Auriel says. "If they can pin it down or infiltrate it, they could disable its engines. It's not invincible."

There's a crackle of orange light. The sigil flares once, then vanishes. The portal opens.

You dig, and dig, and dig, desperately seeking the source of Auriel's voice. She's nearby. You throw up five or six tentacles to support the weight of stone above you and pull her out.

It's bad. One of her arms is broken. She's covered in cuts and scratches. <Auriel...fuck.>

Probably a good idea to try and mentally communicate with either Adavan or Yi Fang buried under rubble and see where exactly they were opening the portal to.
>>
>>30510646

That's a bit more understandable. Even so, that's a hell of a jump. I guess Metatron and Sandles are Hyperion's Chosen, as opposed to his Servants?

only downside to pocket is that you get put into TOTAL sensory deprivation.... while bearable in short durations, extended periods within may cause psychological trauma...

Actually, can we use Detect Life/Detect Magic to locate and Ink through the rubble and pocket Adavan/Yi Fang as well to get them out as well?

Getting one of them to tell us where they were opening the portal to saves us more time than trying to search, even with the time spent getting them out taken into consideration.
>>
>>30510784
No he doesn't, he just remembers how bad it was, it isn't like we traumatized him for life.
>>
<I'm taking you with me. Don't move.>

You reach out and pocket the angel. She vanishes.

You turn up and claw through the rubble, shifting it back below you, and inking between rocks when you can. You breech the surface and puncture your way through to daylight.

The southern wing of the castle has collapsed, exposing a huge portion of the building. A landslide of rubble has poured down and piled against part of the inner wall, and down into the foundation. It's like you're in a barren wasteland.

Ila and Abigail are sprinting toward you. Tyrael lands nearby and immediately begins burrowing into the rock with hands coated in light. It piles up at his sides at a tremendous rate.

You un-pocket Auriel, laying her out on a flat portion of rock. "Elements, that was odd." She coughs again, and then begins to channel Light into her wounded arm. "I'll just slow you down, this will take time. You need to get to the Nemesis!"

"It could be anywhere along its flight path."

"...Adavan or Fang would have a better idea of the location. The portal would have told them that much."

"John, what the hell happened?!" Ila shouts. "We felt light, and then the castle just fell in on itself!"

What do you do?

>search for Adavan or Fang in the rubble
>take off for the Nemesis immediately (bring allies?)

If we can save Flint, we need to bring him to Hecate immediately. Behind a barrier made to hold back Elemental Lords he'll be safe. None of this airship bullshit.

Or Deep Focus if that would be necessary instead. We should have a good idea of where Adavan is if he's still around thanks to our Servanting him.

Rather than trying to clear the rubble off of them, it's probably faster for us to do an amorphous wiggle between the rocks to their location and Pocket them out from the rubble.

Wasn't Erebus really good at that? I mean, the Black Hand were fanatics, and Erebus never gave them a second glance. Dave became a male (hopefully non-romantic) Yandere, and Hecate was willing to seal herself away on his word. Guy made people dance on his strings.

>>
<Auriel, explain,> you say.

While Tyrael burrows into the rubble like a human mole, you turn to Ink, slipping between the chunks of rock and mortar to quickly descend. A brief focus gives you five points of spirit - four smaller than the one. Luckily, Fang is almost right on top of three of them. Tyrael seems to be making relatively quick progress toward the fourth and relatively feeble ball of spirit.

You puncture through to Fang's position under the rock - and he's standing with his arms folded, the two councilors and Adavan at his side. A barrier of spirit holds the rock back. He glances at you. "I would have blasted our way out, but those panicking neanderthals are in the way."

"Drop your barrier," Tae Wong says. "I'll forge us a path."

Councilor Wong channels earth. After Valeria, he might actually be the strongest Earth Mage you know. Fang's glowing bubble of spirit vanishes, but the rock doesn't fall - it trembles, and then melts, reforming like water. A switchback stairwell appears above you, and you quickly climb the steps back to the surface. Auriel is still down, but looking better, if exhausted.

Tyrael is already back from his expedition - with Hamil.

Ila is on her knees. She clutches at Hamil's robes, tears pouring down her face.

>con't
>>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skLjnVQ677Y

Hamil's left leg is gone, and his shoulder had exposed bone, still smoking from the blast of light. He's barely alive.

"...not like this," Tyrael whispers. "You..." He grabs Hamil's shoulder. "You owe me a game of stones! You hear me?! Hamil! Hamil!"

"Stop," Ila says. "Just stop."

Abigail gently touches the back of Tyrael's neck. "...Highest..."

"Stop acting like he's dead!" Tyrael snaps.

"Lieutenant," Auriel says, "control yourself."

"He's still alive. We can still save him!"

"...I wouldn't have the strength, even were I rested. He's fading too fast."

Rock is punched up in the distance, drawing your gaze. Steward is emerging from under the ground. Vaz Grak climbs up behind him, scraped and torn up, but still fine.

A flare of light and a gust of wind are rapidly approaching from the top of the castle. Sandalphon and Arcturis are flying down toward you.

What do you do?

Honestly.... I'm down for asking Dave if he Wants to kill Sandalthong, saying that he is trying to Summon back the greatest enemy of Erebus, Hyperion.
>>
>>30512216
This makes me think... What if Dave could be summoned as demon lord #5? Then we'd really have to face our demons huehuehue
>>
>>30512260
>>30512264
>>30512268

Same poster, I would like to clarify one thing.

Chaos has grown substantially as per EVERYONE's ramblings. Sandals has become far stronger in the interim from that battle 700 years ago.

Dave is a being of Order now like us, I doubt he has also grown at that rate. I'm not saying he still isn't stronger, but they may be closer to even.
>>
>>30512264

Dave would buttfuck Sandles, yes, but I don't think the rapetrain would stop there, guys.

Dave would keep on raping until he got back to us.

No anon, no.

Dave wants OUT of the Nether. What opens up the Nether to let everything out? Pentaverate.

Dave wouldn't kill the Demon Lords.
>>
>>30512319

He's also been camping in the Nether. Either he's been eating for that time, or he's been adapting. The first way, he's now even more powerful. The second way, he's probably the closest being to us in terms of pure nature.
>>
>>30512334
Worth it.
>>
>>30512369
He'd already be out if we let him.
>>
>>30512395
Not forever.
>>
>>30512334
If he gets out of hand we can just trick him by saying we'll give him more power, then lay our hands on him and pocket 'him.

Do not seriously consider this.
>>
>>30512381
If he were adapting he would be closer to Hyperion than us.
>>
>>30512369

Dave also wants Erebus to notice he exists. To the point that it might surpass any other desire.

If Sandles isn't dealt with by the time we deal with the Demon Lords, calling in Dave might be worth considering.
>>
>>30512416
>sticking him in the Pocket with half of Leviathan to eat.

It's almost like we're going full retard!
>>
I really don't think that releasing Dave is the best idea.

However, having said that, I say we should summon him and let him skip rope with angel guts.
>>
>>30512422

I'm fucking horrified that you or anyone else would consider unleashing Dave on purpose.

I pray that SM refuses to let us even select this option because how damaging and incredibly retarded this is. Shadow would never unleash the most insane, most powerful, Chaotic force that is Dave on Venia. No one would survive. Not us, not anyone.
>>
>>30512417

How so? We are a creature of Order that has become balanced. David is a creature of Order that has become balanced. Ultimately, it was exposure to Chaos that did so.

It's kind of funny. If Humanity has been called Corruption to begin with, you think we'd have gone with it?

>>
SM does it amuse you to watch everyone consider opening Pandora's Box over a bunch of 1's?

>>
>>30512422
I don't know. More chaos in the world means more core instability, and Dave would be a very loose cannon. As >>30512334 suggested, he might do more harm than good.
>>
>>30512471
I just want to read the Dave vs Sandalphon fight
>>
You lay your hands on Hamil's chest and pour a Great Heal into his body.

His flesh wavers, knitting together - but his soul stutters. You can feel it, grinding to a halt. It doesn't have the energy to repair his body, to meet you halfway. He's dying.

Sandalphon's boots crush into the rubble next to you. Arcturis glides to a halt nearby. "What in the 8 Elements did you people do to my castle?!"

You see Prince Deva and Obis running now, crossing the field of rubble. Joey, Valeria, and Harvan aren't far behind. Steward and Vaz Grak are picking their way toward you.

Sandalphon looks at your sigil of water. "Get your pathetic spell off him, it'll get in the way. Auriel, form the sigil."

Auriel's mouth opens slightly. "...you'll help?"

"Form the sigil, now. You were always better at this sort of finesse."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uudsHiVbN60

Auriel crawls up from the ground, grunting. You step back. A complex sigil of Light springs to life on Hamil's chest.

Sandalphon takes a firm stance and holds both palms out toward the sigil. A burst of light pours out from him and into the spell. Immediately, the sigil begins to glow and spin. Sandalphon continues to throw energy at the magic, as if he's turned on a faucet to a Light mana pool.

Hamil's shoulder begins to repair itself, and before your very eyes, his leg swiftly regenerates. The Light swims around his soul, spinning around it, giving it momentum. It begins to pulse back to life.

Sandalphon lowers his hands, and the stream of light cuts off. The healing sigil fades.

Hamil opens his eyes. "...what..."

"You lucky fucking bastard." Tyrael wipes the back of his hand across his eyes. "You had me worried for a second, there."

"Yeah, yeah. We all know you just wanted your rematch."

"You're alive," Ila whispers.

"I think so, considering this hurts like nothing else." He rubs his shoulder.

You stare up at Sandalphon. He raises an eyebrow at you. "Have something to say, Nyx?"

nigga, dave is anything but balanced.

If he's adapted then he has taken waaaaaay to much chaos because he's soaking in the nether for 700 years.

What if having an order being of Daves' caliber in the chaotic core of the nether was a deeper part of Erebus' plans?

>>
>>30512884
It's someone he could probably kill any time he wanted and it makes him look better, that's why.
>>
>>30512824
It's POSSIBLE, but not probable.

If it was anyone other than Lucifer in charge of the soul sealing operation, it's an absolute guarantee he knows, but Lucifer was always looking out for Number One (where Number One was him, not the Most High), and keeping the mechanics to himself meant it was an advantage he held.

Given how Sandalphon operates, though, it's unlikely he would've given Lucifer free rein over the operation without knowing the details. Because he knew as well as Lucifer did where the guy's loyalties actually lie.

That's a very disturbing theory. I don't want to imagine that's right, more probable for a former angel under Sandy that fled with us to Haven to have misguided loyalties.
>>
>>30512904

I think he probably kept somewhat separate from the whole thing. He almost certainly knew what Lucifer was up to, but I doubt he was personally involved. He just didn't stop him. Maybe he encouraged him.

Honestly, this is the kind of thing we should ask Auriel about.

>>30512884

>>
>>30512884
it makes him look good to all parties, and makes us look like an asshole if we don't thank him.

>>30512928
If he was, then Sandalphon would have just let him die. Like this it's more likely that Sandalphon is just trying to incur favors.
>>
"...thank you, for saving the life of my friend."

"I don't very well see how I could lead half the world if I let a single man die in front of me," he says. "What the hell happened down there?"

<Stay calm,> you tell Arcturis. You telepathy flashes at the speed of thought as you turn away from the angel. <Sandalphon is moving against Donovan. This is all a distraction.>

You avoid looking directly at Hamil. <What's happening on the ship?>

<The angels attacked with two airships. They rammed us, and boarded. I was in the engine room with Donovan. I thought that the portal would help us escape, but now I think they just baited me into trying to cast it. Shadow, I think there's someone on the inside, someone that would know I have a link to Adavan, and that I've been using it to help coordinate within the alliance. It would be anyone in Haven, or Maven Lake.>

<No time to figure it out,> you say. <Where were you?>

<South of Vischon, where the boarders meet.>

You grit your teeth. This isn't good. Sandalphon was a step ahead. Donovan might already be a hostage.

"Well?" Sandalphon says. "Explain yourselves!"

>>
>>30512868
>I feel as if we should say that we are not even necessarily opposed to the idea of Hyperion coming back, it's more the specific method.
Nope, I'm pretty sure we're opposed to Hyperion coming back.

It's the same reasoning Auriel gave for wanting Xile to stay isolated; the Elementomachy was a total shitshow, and bringing back one of the most volatile elements of it doesn't seem like a practical or responsible thing to do.

Hecate is a bit of a different story, at least, given that she mostly just wanted to sit around doing spirity things rather than leading the warhost.

Geb is probably even more so, since he just wanted to hang out and be friends with the elves and the dwarves, and the two groups couldn't play nice and made Uncle Geb sad.

>>30512976
>Honestly, this is the kind of thing we should ask Auriel about.
Auriel didn't know the reason behind the soul-slaved mages' subservience. Whether she was kept in the dark because the mechanics were ACTUALLY being kept to just Lucifer (and probably Sandalphon), or that she was kept out of the loop specifically because she was a bleeding-heart and also an ex-spirit mage herself remains to be seen.

Claim that we were attacked in the halls by a rogue Angel in the halls.

We subdued him and attempted to find out why, and he told us that he was seeking to garner favor from Sandalphon for dispatching us for all of the crimes he accused us of. And then he went nuclear with Blood Magic in a last-ditch effort to dispose of us rather than let us do with him what "war criminals" such as ourselves obviously do with their captives.

We claim responsibility outwardly to Arcturis for things being destroyed, since if not for our presence it wouldn't have happened.

Makes him think his plan is safe, and then we can excuse ourselves.

If he knows what we're doing, he is going to follow to try and stop us.

We might already be fucked if we've got a mole because Hamil is here, and Sandalphon might recognize him from reports from the mole, but if not we NEED Sandalphon to think we don't know what's going on or he's going to get involved personally.

Because the stakes are too high on his end for him to afford not to.

<Fang, if he tries to stop me, stop him.>

You grab Ila and Abigail, on under each arm - an easy enough task with your strength. Your wings shoot out from your back even as your aura gathers beneath you. "Hold on."

You leap into the air and -

BOOM

A blaze of Order trails behind you as you soar through the sky at supersonic speed, your wings back, Abigail and Ila tucked firmly beneath you. Ila buries her head in her arms. Abigail is much more calm about the ordeal - she's been there before.

Guys, I think the best strategy here is to disable both airships asap. Go fast to both dynamos, pocket, then find Donovan. We can fly faster then any angel even if they manage to get him off the Nemesis

So we're Schattenkrieging into one of the airships with this Hypersonic on, right?

Yeah, half of our forces are angels so using elcipse is kind of a bad idea. especially since the only useful things it gives us is Void ring and Ray of Darkness.

This isn't really as much of an issue now that we've had a handful of breakthroughs on Dynamo theory.

>>30514497
I'd argue that if the Nemesis is in the process of being boarded that our shadow-mages need all the help they can get.
>>
>>30514508
>We have to balance losing one of the only remaining Dynamos in the world with EXP gain

Better use of Dynamos than eating them

>>30514533

>>
>>30514542
Then we rip the casings from the Noiralev, these two airships, and anywhere else we can find them.
>>
>>30514527
If we eat the dynamos then we will probably be able to buy Eclipse.

only 42.

Each Dynamo has 100EXP in it. we just couldn't take all of it at one time before. We could probalby take 50 of it without burning it all away this time.

<Shadow!> Ila's voice echoes in your mind. <What is going on?! Where are we going? Why was Hamil even there?!>

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKhU4RFTmok

Your wings change, folding forward, rather than back. They twist into a needle point and wrap your body in a cone of shadow. Your aura glows bright around the edges. Your speed increases.

WHOOMPH

The energy concentrates behind you. Your aura burns it as fuel. Your speed increases.

WOOMPH

The skysever shines green around you. For a moment, it starts to attack you - and then it falls behind you. More needles of green air try to intercept, but you're gone before they strike. You're outrunning the skysever.

WOOMPH!

KA-BOOOM!!

Shadow explodes behind you in a ring of purple light. Your rocket forward. While supersonic, you could see the ground pass by, but now it's a blur, like clouds whipping past you on a stormy day. Your vision narrows to a single point. The force of the wind makes your wings shake and buckle, but you hold firm. There is no green light, now. The skysever can't even track you.

A dot on the horizon rushes up on you. An airship!

You cut out the Hypersonic. There's an explosion of wind and darkness, and you slow, and then you're drifting, still alight, suddenly back to normal speed. Your vision spins slightly. The world moves forward around you as your body adjusts to being still again.

The scene of an aerial battle stretches before you.

The cloaked Nemesis is visible - magic stains its sides, like white paint thrown on its hull to make it visible against the land. An airship is seemingly wedged into its bottom half like a twig smashed into a boulder. Flashes of magic echo both on the hull of the enemy ship and within it. The second airship - now behind you, as it took time to decelerate - is limping away. It's the Ragnarok, the great vessel that nearly took down the Noiralev before you escaped the Ring City.

You feel the skysever creeping up on you...

Your Deep Focus rolls over the airships.

It's total chaos to your left. The battle's barrage of magic makes it impossible to pinpoint anything, and you can't even sense inside of the Nemesis.

The Ragnarok is in better shape, and its shielding obscures your ability to pinpoint Donovan. You can sense the Light of some of the stronger angels within, but they're fuzzy, fading in and out.

What do you do?

It's because the dice make them feel as if making plans is a waste of time and energy since misfortune would instantly negate it.

You unpocket your two Chosen, keeping them held to your chest for a moment. <Are you two alright?>

<Ok!> Abigail calls.

<I'm good, but can we not do that again?> Ila says.

<I'm going to try to deal with the Ragnarok. I think Donovan's inside - they wouldn't be trying to run unless they had him. Get ready to catch him!>

You release your allies, and they break their falls with steeled wings of Shadow. You gain ground on the Ragnarok quickly, even as the skyserver begins to burn at you.

>you've taken 2 damage
>you've regenerated 2 damage (64/81)
>mana: 50/76
>Resolve - Normal

Your Nighblaze spins up as a ball of negative energy. You close on the airship, pressing in to where you can see the skysever constantly humming about the magical shielding. Rather than fire the attack, you release it. It expands out from you in a ball of negative light. Shadows grow bright, and light turns black.

The shielding flickers. The skysever lunges forward like a starving hound.

But you're just a bit faster.

All it takes is a touch, and a hint of mana. And then, the airship is gone - the entire construct, vanished into thin air.

Four or five dozen angels, most concentrated on the bridge, are suddenly floating in midair. Some were seated; others, laying in their quarters. Many were standing. A few were group together. Immediately, they begin to drop like stones.

The skysever, which had been held at bay only by the shielding, leaps in attack the foes it was denied.

You dive into the sudden chaos of angry wind and burning light magic, Abigail and Ila hot on your heels. Donovan has to be in there somewhere!

If this quest had been diceless when it started, I probably would have dropped it in frustration, believing everything bad to be a result of QM fiat trying to keep us on the rails.
However, SM has built up a lot of trust and if he wanted to go diceless now I'd be a-fucking-okay with that.

Sadly, he's got some kind of significant mechanical back end which is dependent on the dice so I don't think we're getting it.

You wheel wing-over-wing into the chaos.

Angels are fighting the skysever with magic, beating it off with shields or bursts of light. Some fire lasers, trying to destroy the vengeful green howling before it can reach them. It's endlessly fluid, warping around their attempts to fend it off or simply recombining and attacking again if disrupted.

Abigail and Ila are gone in moments, lost in a haze of Light and Wind. Your eyes dart from location to location. You see one angel be blown away by friendly fire. Another is coated in green needles, and then eviscerated, the natural windburn killing him without mercy. Your own following of Wind continues to cut and pierce you, steadily growing in intensity. At normal speeds, you can't outrun it forever.

>you've taken 4 damage from the skysever
>2 healed from hydra (62/81)

A burst of light singes your side, and you loose altitude, your skin smoking.

>you've taken 5 damage (57/81)
>4 HP from regeneration (61/81)

The attacking angel is standing on the ground, far below. She's already channeling more magic, taking aim for another shot at you. She feels significantly stronger - one of the Highest?

You can't see Donovan anywhere. You can't feel him. Dammit!

<Breeze, I need you!>

Breeze answers your call. Your wings glow, crystallizing in layers of black and white energy. Your body jerks as you're suddenly accelerated through the chaos of the angelic flight.

>(Breeze) - Broken

You swerve upward, gaining altitude rapidly and putting bodies between you and the angel on the ground. It gives you a better view, too. You scan the bottom of the group, searching for a falling body. You can see Abigail and Ila hovering well below the mass of wind and bodies, circling in search of your falling friend.

But he's not there. He isn't anywhere. He should have long since dropped out of the sky.

>you've taken 3 damage from the skysever
>4 HP from regeneration (63/81)

Unable to easily attack you, the angel turns her attention to your Chosen. Abigail is forced to dive rapidly to avoid a bomb of Light magic. The force catches Ila from behind, and she's thrown away from the fray - you can't tell if she was hurt.

Breeze is still powering your wings...

But where is Donovan?!

What do you do?

>go for the angel. You've got to take her out.
>fly over to Ila. She might be hurt.

Stopping her from attacking our allies (especially continuing to focus on Ila if she's injured and less able to defend herself as a result) is our priority now that it's unreasonable to assume that Flint was on board.

Looking back at when we first showed up, we noticed fighting ON THE SECOND SHIP. Which means they probably didn't completely commandeer the Nemesis, and maybe are even being beaten back somewhat.

>>30516246
Well, we probably have to get that out of the person in charge then, don't we.

<Breeze, be ready for this.>

You feel a distant, faint murmur of agreement as the last of the shards' energy flares into your wings. The lines of Chaos of the crystal ovals flare white; the panes of order burn black. Your aura twists around you, forming a point at your head.

BOOM

You plunge toward the angel like a comet, burning with Order and Chaos mixed in a trail of ivory and violet mana. Your sheer speed allows you to easily dodge the angel's attack, and you slam into the ground at her feet at full speed.

A cloud of dust and debris is thrown into the air. A rain of dirt patters around you as you stand back up. The angel was pushed back several feet. She holds a shield of light in front of herself, though it's terribly cracked.

Your follow up strike smashes it like glass. Your punch follows through, taking her in the stomach. She stumbles back, clutching her abdomen, the breath knocked out of her.

What do you do?

You're on her in an instant.

Your fist comes up in a sharp uppercut, connecting with her face. The Highest might be tough, but you can still feel the crunch as her nose is smashed inward. She flies back on her heels.

Your other arm is already twisting, distorting, growing until it's behind her. You slap her back the other way. A third arm grows out of your torso and connects under her chin in a second uppercut.

She crumples to the ground, face bloody.

You land on top of her, grab her wrist, bend it behind her back, and roughly shove her face-first into the first. You turn her arm until it feels about ready to pop. You place a hand on her elbow.

"You tell me what I want to know," you say, "or I bend your elbow the wrong way." You apply a threatening level of pressure.

"You..." Her breaths are ragged. She coughs. "Nyx."

"Where is Sir Donovan Flint?"

"Eh...ah..." She spits blood.

You push her into the ground, then draw her up again. "WHERE IS HE?!"

"Hehe...ahahaha...ahh..." Her eyes turn to look at you. "Did you think we'd actually fly him back? Really? A handful of angels can easily make a portal, Nyx. He's long gone." A thin smile peels her lips up. "And I bet you know what that means, don't you?"

What do you do?

So now we go and pocket the other Airship?
>>
>>30517147

Mathew, but we rolled bad.
Other than that, i guess we will agree to differing opinions.
>>
>>30517188
Given that we felt fighting on board the other airship, that means there are going to be some of our people on board as well.

We really, really don't want to shred half of Haven in the process. Thinking we could pick one dude out from the ship and save them was reasonable. Thinking we can protect LOTS of people is not.
>>
You all are WAY to focused on revenge. Don't blame the soldier for the Generals orders.
>>
>>30517147
Our first power was spirit whip and we could have ignored translate and went on with the other choices instead, so it was the players choice.
>>
>>30517231
Judging by the votes, most of the players have already calmed down.
>>
>>30517224
Awww, well let's see if the battle is still ongoing on the other airship. if it isn't then we pocket that one too.
>>
>>30517234
Spirit whip does and always will suck.
>>
>>30517246
Doubt we have room for a second without a not likely MPVI
>>

Summoning tree is my bet since all the large trees had MP in them.
>>
>>30517268
We have 243 meters cubed.

We have plenty of space
>>
>>30517069
Is there any chance I can trace the portal?
Also, how did you know about the airship, and where Flint was hiding.

It's difficult to calm yourself down. You want to tear the feathers off her. You want to erase her. Donovan is going to be butchered like a pig for their idiocy.

You take a long, slow breath.

"What can you tell me about the spell you used to teleport him?" She's still sniveling. "Talk!"

"It's...a Lightport...I...five angels, hold open a portal. Magic spell."

"You can't create a portal without knowing where it's going!" you shout. "You're full of shit!" You increase the pressure on her back.

"No, no! Sandalphon gave us the sigil template himself! The destination was fixed, we didn't have to know it ourselves, please don't hurt me, don't take my wings! Please!"

You relax your grip slightly. It's getting to you. Somehow, now, when you best friend is in mortal peril, her cries for mercy are wedging into your subconscious.

A dark, terrible part of you wishes your conscience would just go away and leave you be.

You realign her bone and heal it with a brief healing spell, and then pocket her.

Ila is behind you. She doesn't say anything, but you can feel her.

"I expected you to kill her."

"...did you?" You look up. No angels left in the sky. A dozen of them made it to the ground about a mile away. "...I almost did. I wanted to."

"I would have, too, once." Ila says. "I've done terrible things to make people talk. But not anymore. You made the right choice."

Abigail lands near you. "What happened? Shadow, where's Sir Flint?"

"...they teleported him to where the sigil is," you say. "She doesn't know where. Sandalphon gave her the spell's template. He didn't tell them the location. I think I believe her."

"...where is she?"

"I have her secure."

"...Adavan can read her mind for us, to be sure."

"It doesn't matter!" You put your hand on your face. "It doesn't matter. They have him. They have him. I was too slow. I thought he'd be safe on the Nemesis. I thought - I...why..."

The tears don't come. Abigail holds you from behind. You want to cry, but the tears don't come.

You look up. The other airship is still wedged in the Nemesis. The battle rages on.

Plenty of angels to kill.

TO BE CONTINUED

Next thread, tomorrow night, 10pm EST

I can't say anything to relieve your concerns, as it would spoil things. But having come this far, I hope you'll keep reading, and put trust in me to create a fulfilling narrative.

Good night!
>>
>>30517331
can we consume her then?
>>
>>30517328
>gave us the sigil template
Adavan can get it out of her mind, or she can give us the sigil herself. We have plenty of angels on hand willing to help us. We can follow this portal.
>>
>>30517341
>>30517336
We showed our mercy

Now we shall rampage
>>
>>30517336
I will absolutely not consider the narrative fulfilling if all that happens is we get there and Hyperion is summoned.

Alternatively, we get there and Hyperion is summoned and Donovan dies.

Or if the summoning actually screws with the core.

Anything with the summoning happening or Donovan getting hurt/deaded, basically, I will consider an unfulfilling narrative.

I want to believe SM, but this shit is getting ridiculous.

IT'S TIME TO KILL
>>
>>30517349
Good fucking idea. We have our Angel allies, and we have Abby and Ila with us.

LET'S FUCKING DO IT BABY.
>>
>>30517314
>>30517336
On the up-side, there's no possible way Donovan's dead yet, because if we know one thing about Sandalphon it's that he is going to want to be there in person when Hyperion returns.

That said
>sigil template
This just means we need someone sympathetic to reproduce it, or a way to determine what the sigil was via mind read or the like.

Unless it's like a magic scroll (which haven't existed yet) and erases itself somehow upon use. Which would make me want to flip a table or something, I dunno.

>>30517365
Donovan is going to have Hyperion summoned through him, and we're going to have to roll against a DC of Donovan Friendship Points to see if he can retain control like a Humanity shard inside Hyperion.
>>
>>30517336
I believe you. Unfortunately, a fulfilling narrative isn't always a happy one. Of course, you couldn't make me stop reading if you wanted to. I'm in this till the bitter end.

>>
>>30517365
Why do so many people think they can convince SM with 'I won't like what happens if bad things happen'. And if you don't want to convince him, why bother going 'I'm going to hate you for what might happen', or alternatively 'I'm going to dislike this'. Focus on fixing shit that's screwed,

Unrelated, we can hopefully get the template using Fang and/or Adavan and/or our host of spirit mages in Haven.
>>
>>30517336
>trust in me to create a fulfilling narrative.
Always bet on SM
>>
>>30517388
clear the nemisis of angels, DYNAMO JUMP TO ARLAND AND GET THE SPELL TO TAKE US TO FLINT, THERE IS HOPE FOR US YET IF SANDALS IS NEEDED TO REMOVE THE DEAMON WE CAN DO IT
>>
>>30517336
Thanks for the thread SM and I look forward to the next thread.

Even with the despair that has happened it has been a great read.
>>
>>30517425
Because it's better to voice your concerns? Shit adds up. Better than sitting around taking it up the ass.
>>
>>30517425
I didn't say any of those things, anon. Quit whinging backwards.
>>
>>30517336
SM you're killing me, slowly but surely you're killing me. I'm not sure how much my heart can take. I just hope I don't wake up in the middle of the night shouting "Donovan, where is he!?" and have to explain awkward questions.

Before this goes onn too long:
"Show me the sigil, then. If its a runic template as you described, it is still here. I know sandalphon likes redundancy, and I am SURE he gave out more than one. Send me through"

We go big and loud. They took our friend, attacked our people, and for what? A chance at bringing Hyperion back while the world is tearing itself apart? No Games, no more nice guy. Advance on the airship as obviously as we can (full Terror), <Angels, this day you have taken a man far greater then any of you. For this I can only bring equal punishment, stand down now and you will be spared. Stand in my way and may the Sun and Moon have more mercy on you than I>
>>
WAIT, I FIGURED IT OUT. ALL WE NEED TO DO IS EAT SANDALPHON AND THEN NOBODY WILL KNOW WHERE DONOVAN IS. AND SINCE WE'RE THE FASTEST, SO WE CAN CONDUCT A THREE-DIMENSIONAL GRID SEARCH OF THE ENTIRE MASS OF VENIA IN ORDER TO TRY AND FIND HIM.

IT'S TOTALLY FOOLPROOF. TRUST ME, GUYS. IT CAN'T GO WRONG!
>>
>>30517336
I don't know, it just felt so... inevitable. Like when Hecate said in three days she'll be strong enough to remove the Shel'kath, I knew there was no fucking way Flint would last those three days.

Doesn't matter if the ship went to Xile, or if we asked Steward to install a little exit tunnel for us in his mana generators and left Flynn in City 001.

There would be no outcome that would have resulted in Flynn not being captured, unless we kept him in our Pocket the whole time, maybe not even then.
>>
>>30517336
Damnit.

Well, thanks for the thread, SM. See you tomorrow night, and hopefully the dice gods are nicer next time.

*sigh* I've never not trusted you SM, we've had some good and bad times and I cherish each and everyone. But this is a challenge to be sure, things have gone from pretty bad to "I honestly think Shadow should go full father on everyone and consume problems they throw our way," we've been nice and played by the rules of children but I've just about had enough
>>
>>30517477
...Why did I start typing Flynn when I got it right the first time?

Regardless, this just... was not a fun thread, and I'm losing faith in our ability to meaningfully effect things at this juncture.
>>
>>30517530
Nobody is going to bring it up tomorrow, guaranteed. They'll vote for a manual search or something. Hah.
