You are Shax Bonemurder, Raid Leader! After doing sidequests for nearly one hundred hours, you have decided to once again raid! This time with your newfound recruits minus the one who was horribly burned.

>Current RAID GROUP!: http://pastebin.com/mZgVD5yH
>Ability Tree: http://pastebin.com/aBfqv1vP
>I'm the Boss!: 1.

>You currently have:
>20/18 BtB exp.
>8/18 MSiF exp.
>5/18 CyRCTHaM exp.

>What would you like to spend your Being the Boss point on? You can purchase one of the following abilities:

* Dark Goddess of Victory! Your very presence inspires your troops to greater heights of power! Your foes tremble before your might and your allies sing songs of your glory! ...At least that is what you tell yourself when you feel bad and lonely, or scared by the number of enemies you're facing. You get bonus stats equal to the number of people you're in combat with, allies included

* Moonlight Champion. Like a beam in the darkness! When things get bad, REAL bad, people turn to you for help. And you can handle it. Your troops maintain a high morale despite overwhelming odds. In addition, enemies whose spirits are completely crushed may find you inspiring...

* Like a Stray Cat - For some reason people want to take care of you, even if you have no real skills or use. Natural diplomacy bonus to matronly and lonely nice guy characters.

* As Expected of Me! - You've convinced yourself that you have to lead by example! Acts of heroism grant a temporary super stat bonus!

I really want Dark Goddess of Victory as the perk right after. It feels like every fight we've been in has been a massive brawl of some kind, so turning into a goblin sized wrecking ball on a semi-regular basis sounds phenomenal to me.

Moonlight Champion seems best for right now, though.

You've found that, lately, people have been turning to you for guidance in times of trouble. In particularly tough times it seems that you are the only hope they have. You weren't too sure if you were worthy of this responsibility, but maybe you've gotten a little more sure of yourself. This is a good thing! You cut a more inspiring figure on the battlefield. Perhaps the disenfranchised among the enemy find you inspiring, too.

>You've unlocked Moonlight champion! Congratulations. The following ability is now available for purchase:

>What is so Great About Gods? - At first you weren't too sure about this on account of being a simple cave goblin, but lately you have been wondering what the heck is the deal with all these clerics? They spend their whole life worshipping some mom lady and all they get for it is super powers every now and then. You'd rather just get stronger by yourself! If you take this skill you gain exp quicker! And get a slight diplomacy penalty with unfriendly clerics.

>You would have a Dark QUEEN - You do not deny that your heart has greatly desired this. Beautiful and terrible as the morn! Treacherous as the Seas! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love you and despair! Your troops are yours and yours alone, and they think of you as their leader, not some dark elf lady they've never met or a dragon they don't know. Your troops will rarely refuse commands.
=============================================================

Alright! The map you drew out has your super sweet battle plan all detailed.

You get the troops ready. You're leaving Whoop and two fish men behind to keep track of Allonces.

You approach the first town swiftly. What is the plan, boss?

>Let's stealth it up! It's early in the morning so they might be busy doing farmer stuff. This takes a while, but you have a better chance of catching runners.

So guys, let's discuss the end goal.

You call over the head over minions for a brief strategy meeting. "Alright! The ways I see it is that we got way more good stealth dudes than we do bashy dudes." Mnar looks a little upset, "No offense, Mnar. There just ain't many of you. Anyways, so we're going to do this quick and neatly. Take out who you can silently, and we'll have the fish guys and the big guys out there to mop up any runners. Then the golems come in and mop up any resistence."

No one seems to have any better ideas, so you set off on the plan. Which goes without a hitch, amazingly. The sneaky guys kick up a big fuss and when people start running for it, you and the rest of the boys surrounding the town cut them down. You promptly set about looting the whole place, getting plenty of supplies in the process. You're pretty sure this place is remote enough that no one is going to find out what happened here for DAYS. As far as you can tell, no one even got hurt. Though Kuzr keeps making fun of Rund for being smacked in the head with a frying pan by some old maid.

You're kinda surprised things went so smoothly, and you can tell the two gnolls are super impressed. Maybe thought you were all show? Still, it is good to leave a good first boss impression!

It is a little slower going to the next town since you've gotten some supplies, but you're heading there at a good rate. If you remember right, this one was rated 'medium difficulty' by your scouts, and you begin to see why immediately. Rather than a small farm in the middle of nowhere, it is a town.

It has a decent sized stone wall, patrols, and at least two guard towers. You can guess where the store houses for the supplies are at.

What's the plan? You don't have to wipe the town off the map, just take out the supplies.

>Sneaky! We just have to get to the store houses and burn them, right? Plant the charges and get out before they explode!
>Raid the whole town anyway! It'll be tough, but good practice, yeah?
>You tell me! You're the boss!
>>
>>30526246
I'm pretty sure our end goal is to make friends with as many fun people as we can, and then eat all of their food.

If we meet enough elementals, we might even become long-lived enough to achieve that goal.
>>
>>30526246
I'd rather settle down in a nice house on a hill made out of the bones of all we've slain and raise our hordes and hordes of babies.
>>
>>30526286
I say go for planting charges and set up our party to intercept people making a run to warn others or even just taking off to the next town on a blitz as soon as we laid down the explosives.
>>
>>30526286
Can we go for a mix of both?
That is, sneak in. Set some satchels on the guard towers or whatever, basically set everything up and get everyone in position. Then attack them from inside!
>>
>>30526286
>>Sneaky! We just have to get to the store houses and burn them, right? Plant the charges and get out before they explode!

So the two main schools of thought are:

>Blast the storehouse, and some other places, and then spring out from the middle of town while they are off guard to take 'em all out.

>Blast the store houses, wait a bit to see if anybody comes running out and smash them, then move on to the next target.

Right? So let's just narrow the vote to these two, then.

I really hate this about 'Quest Culture' on this board. Every fucking quest is an acronym and that's all they're referred to as. Most of these quests are two or three short words, and everybody somehow expects everybody else to keep up the new acronyms. It's ridiculous sometimes.

Polite sage and spoiler for completely offtopic.

You run through the plan with the boys quickly. Dorle and Mani look at each other with a grim expression. They've got an important part in all this. Milda slaps them on the back and encourages them. You glance nervously at the golems. There is no way in hell you can sneak these guys in. You tell Mnar to take them and the trolls and keep an eye on them, while running a quick perimeter around the town to catch anyone who comes out.

After everyone gets their instructions, you start scaling the wall near where you think the store houses are. It goes smooth and quick, and you manage to narrowly avoid the guards despite it being nearly noon. Looks like they're not on high watch yet. It doesn't take long to get the raid on the other side. You quickly silence witnesses and get the twins to plant charges in certain buildings along the wall. You don't want to risk heading out to the main road, yet.

Things are moving very smoothly. Before too long, you look at the dwarf twins. They say they still have plenty of bombs left, but don't want to exhaust their supply that easily. It is a lot harder to assemble these in camp, apparently.

After waiting in the alleyways for what seems like HOURS you turn to the dwarf brothers. "Hey," you ask timidly, "When exactly are those things going to go off?" You glance about nervously. You didn't like how those things rattled your bones in the quarry.

Mani shrugs, and Dorle says, "We carefully timed them to be the same length. We, just underestimated how fast we'd put them up. So we got some time to kill, though I don't know how much."

Great. Your feet are starting to get store from standing in the same place. All the boys are nervous as heck. When the first bomb goes off you jump straight in the air out of shock. Holy crap those things are loud! The ground trembles as more blasts go off. Well, this is going to get noticed by SOMEBODY.

You get ready as the guards are milling about in a panic. This is as good a time as any!

While you weren't paying attention the druid's dumb cat wandered into the crowd and started mauling people. Cause the huge lynx is such a draw, the guards come out of the woodwork and spot you quickly. You're stuck in the alleyways, in a stand up fight, and you left all your heavies back outside! That's gotta be some bad luck!

Still, you rally your forces pretty well, despite the initial panic you manage to get everyone calmed down and back to work. There is a little chaos at the start, and you think you see one of the fish dudes, Floobleploo, go down. And Kuzr catches a bad hit before you can get a good formation going.

But, they clearly weren't ready to fight a mixed force of javelineers, a gnoll archer, another gnoll flinging spears of ice and blasts of fire, and the constant pelting of stones from slings. These guys were ready to deal with miscreants. So when you can form a good wall, you managed to beat them back with little effort. Before long they break, and you get to ransack the town.

Other than Kuzr, none of the wounds seem particularly bad. Floobleploo is a lost cause, however. Oh well! You didn't know him too well, and the other fish guys seem to have sprinkled some water on him and ignored his corpse beyond that, so you doubt there is much grief there.

You get a report from Mnar about the run aways. Apparently a ton of people bolted and they couldn't catch most of them. Oh well. Still, this was a nice fat town to take out.

>A solid plan mitigated the worst case scenario! You get an I'm the Boss! point.

What's the plan, now boss? You've got a town full of loot.

Hahaha, yes he does, in fact. He has Reincarnation. He can bring back ONE dead party member until he is given enough peace and quiet to meditate for an entire day. Do you want him to bring back the fish man? He will, of course, be reincarnated into a completely new body...

nah, a few of them like the dwarves followed for other reasons, not drafted or anything and might be more inclined to continue.

Plus the others will probably be thankful and stay if we bring them back, while these fish dudes seem to have some opinion on death that would make him a 'different person' even if he comes back, and the resulting creature could just bugger off.

of course anyone can bugger off, but it's less likely if it's not a fish face, and they don't seem to mind him being dead either way
>>
It doesn't take long, but you manage to grab anything of value you see. There was apparently a small hedge wizard in the town, and you get some neat scrolls. Not that you know what any of them do as the only spell casters here are the druid and Milda says she knows a little magic, and neither of them were exactly studious about this sort of thing.

You don't want any survivors, so you set the place on fire and hope that'll do the job. You even joke about poisoning the well, and you are pretty sure that someone went to do just that. You weren't too serious, but it is nice to know the boys are in the raiding spirit!

Heading out, you've got some time between now and the next town. You get Bearbreath to heal up Kuzr so he isn't completely out of comission and start distrubuting the wealth. People are starting to get a little tired. All this raiding really takes it out of you.

The next target is another small farm. Now, you have a few options:

>Take it easy, let the boys get their energy back a bit before hitting up the farmstead.
>Rush on over. The longer you spend relaxing, the more on guard these places will be. Especially since you had so many people get away last time.

That's actually a really good strategy. We can easily afford to take easier hitting isolated farms while not sacrificing much speed.

I'd nominate using the golems as the guys to pull aggro. That way we can get a fully rested team out of the people who actually need rest.

No time to waste! You've gotta be fast for the whole plan to work, right? Then let's get fast! If some of the whiners are really going to be that slow, you can just let the lag behind and bring the party to them. Time to test this idea out!

As you approach the farm house, you can tell already that they are more on guard than the last one. According to your scouts, the farmers have some weapons and they have volunteer militia on guard already. If they're on the look out for some goblin raiders, you'll give them just that. You tell the big guys and golems to run around back and flush them towards the rest of the raid. The javelineers and sneaky guys will harry them while you and the people who are running low on energy wait to smash them when they get here.

It seems like a solid plan, and shouldn't wear people out TOO much. Let's give it a try!

Besides, this is a particularly plan heavy segment. You didnt' have many opportunities to be clever during Gnoll Quest, and you made plenty of rolls then.

But I'll definitely think of ways to stop the points from flowing like wine if it ends up being too abusable.

Anyway, cancelling it, and going with the highest of the remaining: 14.

Writing.
>>
>>30528540
Well, it was less limiting rewards for free thinking and more if you don't set an upper limit we'll just hoard them.

Everyone has that tendency to never use special items "until they really need them" in videogames and then ends up never using them at all and I don't want Boss Points to end up like that. If we had a set limit we'd keep spending so we can keep gaining with our strategy.
>>
>>30528601

Ah, I see. That way if you only had, like, five maximum you wouldn't hoard them since you would end up "wasting" good ideas?

I get it. I'll think on it, and update that with any other system updates at the end of the thread, as usual.

I don't think there's risk of us NOT using them here. We roll consistently terrible and have brushed death a few times already.

I don't know anon, I've never known this board to not re-roll in even the most of inane situations. They really can't help themselves.

Eh, this quest's typical response to nat 1s and bad rolls is to just laugh it off. Of course, if they keep raking in the Boss points I expect them to use them but this playerbase is surprisingly chill for a /tg/ quest.
>>
Sitting back, you look down the road. You sent the boys out not too long ago. Should be showing up soon, if all goes well. You hear a big explosion. You glance at Dorle.

"Wasn't me." He says, a little defensively. You keep your eye on him.

A big commotion is heard up ahead. Gneb rides up to you from the side. "Boss, they've got them all riled up but good, but they've got some mages in the mix. One of the golems took a nasty hit from a spell, but it seems to be holding up. They've managed to push most of the militia out, and they'll be heading this way, but Mnar and the golems are tied up trying to break into the farm while getting blasted."

Wow, that sounds rough. You're kind glad you aren't up there. Still, before too long you see several men on foot beating a hasty retreat. You wave your sword to get Mani, Dorle, and a few of the goblins and a fishman back on their mounts. Hopefully the rest did them good.

Before too long you're riding at the the militia, who have spotted you and are falling into a defensive formation. Well disciplined, at least? A few whip out cross bows and fire them into your party, and you hear Dorle swear and fall off his mount.

At the vanguard, you whip your sword out to smash away the outstetched spears with one hand before crashing into the formation. It is a complete mess, but you're still standing at the end of it, managed to avoid any real damage with your solid defensive skills.

By the time you get to the farm, most of the work has been done already. One of the golems is sporting some scorch marks and another is missing an arm, but you are pretty sure those reform anyway. Nost and Dorle are seriously wounded. Bearbreath stabilizes them, but they're in no shape to stay up front anymore.

You loot the place and move on.

Alright, final objective unlocked! You head straight to the clock tower. As expected, it has high walls, plenty of guards and traffic around it. You can't really even get close to it without being spotted.

Fortunately, you just have to raid it a little, not wipe it out. The witch boy wanted a specific list of items from his building in town, but he didn't bother telling you which building was his. You know he built the clock tower.

What's the plan, boss?

>Raid the outside, try to draw out a party and smash them. Forget the inside for now.

save the rest of the bombs for the clocktower.

Golems and Shax lead a charge to the clocktower. Big boys guard the sappers at the front-sides of the charge. Sneaky guys pick off guards whenever it's safe and harrass/loot the houses on both sides of the charge.

>Raid the outside, try to draw out a party and smash them. Forget the inside for now.
Yay!
>>
>>30529290
So lead them into a bomb trap?

I think that could work but I think drawing the fight outside is going to be difficult when they'd rather stick to the wall.
>>
>>30529193
Use the main party as a diversion, raiding outside but falling back from the defenders. Send the sappers and sneakers 'round the back, blow a hole in the rear wall/gate and get in/out fast after hitting the clock tower.
>>
>>30529363
If they're on the wall, the bombs will still hit them, right?
>>
>>30529386
That might get the main party killed though.

I'd say use the golems and trolls for that.
>>
Alright. Smashing all your decisions together!

Raid the outside a bit, burnin up crops and stuff to lure guards out, drawing back the guards with teh main group while the sneaky guys try to slam the wall with bombs, ambush the sortie with the full party then rush the new gap made by the sappers, fight to the clock tower, while the small dudes fan out and cause havoc in the town, and see if you can't find the witch boys stuff inside. You cover the details of the plan with the boys. You mostly receive blank expressions in response. Maybe you've gone a little far off the deep end? Whatever! You tell everyone to just do what you say! There are some protests, but the head overminions keep the whiners in line. You've not led them astray yet, you aren't about to start! Hopefully.

The first part of the plan goes off without a hitch. You burn those farms real good. Reeaaall good. Some nice fire going on here. Enough smoke to get the guards attention, and far enough away where they can't really rain arrows on you. You move to burn some more crops, but see a sortie heading out towards you. You keep falling back, keeping the guards close enough to where they think they can catch you while you hope the sappers are getting into position. A huge explosion followed by a unique cracking sound give you the cue you need. At the signal, the big boys head in to take out the advance party. You're not sure how that scrap is going, as you're rushing to the gap in the wall.

By the time you get there, you see the sapping party hasn't even made it far inside. Fighting through the rubble, Mani, Milda, and the small boys are doing their best to fight their way in, but the guards are putting up a nice resistance. "Hey, boss!" Mani calls out, "We could really use some help here, eh?"

Xab goes over to you, "Looks like they either saw us or expected us, boss. Sorry 'bout that."
>>
"Nothin' you coulda done about it, Xab." No time to spend crying over spilt milk. You dash into the fray, slamming a guard with your sword roughly before picking up a nice big stick with your other hand. You get Milda's attention. You're not going to have the energy to fight your way through the entire town's defenses, so you get her and Gneb to come over. "Me, Milda, and one of you are going to try to get to the clock tower. The rest of you lot meet up with the other boys. Play it safe, and distract them while we try to get to whatever the witch boy wanted. Mani, you come, too." You'll need him to blow up any warehouses you see on the way.

With that said, you break through a defensive line and make a mad dash for the clock tower.

Surprisingly, after the initial group of guards there appears to be very few armed men inside the town proper. No one is even looking for a young goblin girl and two dwarves. Kuzr, despite his wounds elected to go with you.

You can't see anything that outwardly looks like a warehouse or anything of the sort so Mani sort of just places his charges wherever he feels like. You ask him if that is really a good idea. He says that we ran out of good ideas a long time ago. You don't argue.

Before long you make it to the tower, and manage to sneak in. The whole thing is filled with machinery, and appears to be completely uninhabited. Maybe if they thought he was a witch, they would have left the building alone for fear of a curse? He did threaten to curse you. You hope you don't get cursed.

The way up looks like it just heads to the clock facing. Not much good up there, but there is a door on the floor. You quickly head over and open it up, and it looks like it goes much deeper in. It is completely dark, but being a cave goblin does have some advantages. Inside looks like a workshop. There are gears and strange magical devices everywhere. Milda takes out the witch boy's list and gets to work. What appears to be body parts are everywhere, but on closer look they are smooth and hollow materials of some kind. This dude must be into weird stuff, cause there are pictures of women drawn everywhere. Whatever, he is a witch so it probably just gets lonely or something. You're not going to judge.

After what seems like forever, but according to your watch was precisely four minutes and twenty eight seconds, Milda lets you know that you've got everything on the list. Alright, it's time to bail. You make your way to the gap in the wall, to see that the boys are no longer there, and there are plenty of guards. Hopefully they're the reserve...
>>
You manage to break through the line, again, with little effort, but on foot it is a hard chase. When Mani's charges start rocking the town, however, the guards fall back. Good going, Mani!

Night has fallen by the time you reconnect with the raid. Apparently one of the Golems went down, Xab and Mnar got seriously wounded, and Loodipol is dead. Still, all in all, not a bad run. You didn't get much loot, but you're heading back to camp.

You are taking the long way around, covering your tracks and avoiding trouble primarily. Can't let them know where you live, or you'll be in real trouble!

Still, the whole day went smootly.

The entire time you get the feeling someone is following you. It starts to really bother you, so right before you get back to the forest you tell everyone to double check that you haven't been followed. Your scouts spread out a bit, while you hang out with the wounded and the big guys.

That nervous feeling just gets worse and worse. "Hello, little goblin. I've heard a lot about you today. You've been up to no good."

You turn around, sword at the ready. The wounded scramble to get into a defensible position, and the two remaining golems close in.

In front of you are two elves, what look like twins. One, the lady, is in full plate. The other, another lady, is in a robe with a staff. A half orc in animal hide holding two strange hooked swords stands to the side. In the center is a human girl in a light frilly dress. She seems to be using an axe bigger even than your sword. It's dark metal gleams in the starlight. A strange pattern glitters on the blade, all angle s and smooth, curving lines. A wicked spike sits at the head of the axe, and a metallic serpent is coiled up the blade in decorative fashion, though its ruby eyes gleam with an unearthly light.

She walks lightly forward. "I'm afraid that you've been up to a little too much mischief today. I'll have to ask you to stop."

didn't see it from the sea of Megaton Hammer, plus i remembered last thread people were voting for the snapping turtle since it still kept us in our defensive form.
>>
>>30531242
I think people wanted a super attack for this upcoming fight because Megaton Sky Hammer wasn't nearly as popular last time around.

>>30531377
I figured staying defensive would have won out against such an offensive looking group, but i was proven wrong.

All this raiding today has taught you one thing: You need more ways to attack. You got some good slams, some solid jams, some nice slashes, and a few good bashes. But what you're missing is a big splashy max attack! And to do that, you are going to use the MEGATON SKY HAMMER. With a shout and a leap, you grip your blade tightly in one hand and land with a giant crash! This should blow through any normal guard, and do big damage to whatever you land on.

>You've unlocked MEGATON SKY HAMMER.

>You can now learn the following abilities:

* RISING METEOR'S FINAL JUDGEMENT PENANCE SLASH - The power of your comrades, lost and present encourage your every move. You are the boss. You decide fate on the battlefield. Only you can wield this colossal blade for the justice you believe in!

It is just a jump slash where you do a flip.

* There is Nothing My Choppa Cannot Chop - A goblin and her sword are one! Though your blade is titanic, you wield it with relative ease. You gain a large armor penetration bonus.

DESTINY POINT!

There are two stars of calamity, and one star of destiny! When two Oversized Weapon Users meet, these stars will shine brightly, loosening the grip of fate and allowing you to alter your own destiny! Or something like that. The specifics aren't clear.

Still, this gives you, the player, a massive amount of control over the world of Oversized Weapon Quest! What momentous event will you set in motion...?

>The elemental court holds a meeting. There have been rumors of several people seeking their blessings lately. Perhaps, if groomed correctly, a very interesting champion could be born? - A NPC will arrive at your camp in a few days, with an enticing proposition.

>The god shifts uncomfortable from his planar throne. War was springing up all over the surface. This was threatening to endanger everything he had planned. Still, it could be salvaged. He'd just have to increase the number of heroes in the world. - You'll unlock the ability to give certain members of your party a minor skill tree. The opposition will become much more powerful as well.

God makes things worse for us, and the ascension will be us quitting our raiding job, and doing an arena styled cup.

I have been and there's nothing saying we have to stay the BBEG's minion.

I'm not upset or anything. But seeing how Shax is I thought it'd be nice if she kind of got away from the "goblins are only good for raiding and evil" mentality and actually realized she could, you know, be The Boss and make her own decisions.
>>
>>30531804
But she is the boss.

Black Dragon vote wins! You'll be receiving a notice from an emissary from her terrible majesty soon...

Other than that, I'm done for now! I hope you guys had fun. This was quite the talkative thread, which I love! Thank you all for playing. Thanks to you archive readers, too, for ensuring that I can run whenever I'd like with players at any time. It makes my life much easier.

As always I'll announce when I'm about to run on twitter, which you can follow @Fouldrinking. I try to keep the blog stuff to a minimum, but I can't help myself sometimes I'm so sorry

Next thread is I don't know, as my schedule is sort of up in the air from work related stuff. Thanks again for playing, and see you next time!

It was specifically stated that she's doing the raiding because that's all she thinks goblins are good for.

She's just following orders.
