>Last Time On Jake’s Adventures in Time! (Technically it should be Space, but time sounds cooler): http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/30413981/>Check my Twitter for updates and reschedules: https://twitter.com/Crosswire>Jake Crocker’s Character Sheet: http://pastebin.com/gNj0pcCS>Rules: http://pastebin.com/XfJFjs52The installation of the three nuclear reactors into MARA goes off without a hitch and after making some necessary adjustments under Barry’s instruction the massive mobile armor is completely put together in about 9 hours. Its hard work, but you've always loved working on new things so it’s a labor of intrigue for you. With the press of a button the massive patchwork mobile armor is final turned on, its insides humming loudly as its ZAKU monoeye flashes to life. You stand on the maintenance scaffolding for a few moments, admiring the machine’s unusual aura of defiance before riding the platform to the ground floor.“Thank you for your assistance, it’ll take a few hours to run a full diagnostic test and then it’ll be ready for combat. I’d prefer if I could test it more thoroughly but I don’t have the time or the luxury to do that.” Barry is back to working at his computer again, smoking like a hound, but he seems to be paying you a bit more attention.“It’s the least I could do. If you don’t mind me asking, why is there this rush to attack Terminal Headquarters?” “The first reason is the fact Terminal has a frightening security network in place and even with N-Jammers active all over the planet they eyes just about everywhere. They've chased us out of several bases, one of them literally being a hole in the ground. It’s only a matter of time before they find us. “Barry sticks another cigarette butt into his tower only for it to lean and topple to the floor.“This place seems pretty sturdy, if a bit run down…” You say as you glance around at the reinforced concrete walls.>(Continued)
>>30569292“The only reason we got this cushy island set up is because the leader of ORB has the balls to secretly fund us behind Terminal’s back.” Barry picks up his ash tray, ignoring the nightmare of ash and cigarette butts on the floor beside his chair as he starts the base of another cigarette butt tower.“ORB?” Barry opens his mouth to say something, but stops as if remembering you aren't from around here. “It’s this independent island nation who’s existed since before the first Bloody Valentine War. They've always claimed to be neutral in all conflicts and only fight to defend themselves, but they sold and developed weapons for the Earth Alliance during the first war and had their hands in a lot of weird places during the second, both times it got them attacked and nearly wiped off the map.” “It sounds like for all their talk of neutrality they were just looking out for themselves.” Barry shrugs. “No one during the war was squeaky clean, save for maybe the Junk Guild and the Martians. Anyway, ORB came under new management after the end of the second war, some chick named Cagalli. Apparently she was in charge after the first, but she was being manipulated by some influential families who all were all conveniently killed during the events of the second war. When Terminal came to power ORB was one of the few places that didn’t get swarmed by Terminal Troops.”“I’m guessing Cagalli was connected to Terminal in some way?”“Or maybe Terminal didn’t want to burn Orb to the ground a third time. Apparently she got married to an ex of hers who happened to be in the higher echelons of Terminal. ORB was one of the few, if not the only country to willingly disarm so Cagalli has never been able to send us anything substantial in terms of supplies, but the information she gives us has always been useful.”Barry blows a smoke ring and rubs out another cig before turning to you. >(Continued)
>>30569376Barry does have a pretty valid point, it’s been two dimensions since you slept and you’re feeling pretty tuckered out. Still, there’s a lot of stuff to be done. What do you wish to do Jake?>[A] Go back to the ship, check up on things, and hit the hay>[B] Talk to Barry a bit more, ask him a few more questions (Write in)>[C] See what W.A.R.M has for weapons and mobile suits, maybe they need work.>[D] Other (Write in)
>>30569410Uh, I think you left out a line. What valid point does Barry have? From context I'd assume something about us having been at this for a while and we should take a break?
>>30569447(Maybe Jake can read cigarette smoke rings? Nah I forgot a line)“Like I said, I won’t need you for a while. Feel free to bug me with more questions or go and do your own thing. You should probably get some sleep though, not everyone should stay awake as long as I do.”
>>30569460Got it. Okay, let's hit up the ship and get some sleep. We're going to wind up piloting again sooner or later, so we should rest. Check in on the AGE Builder, too. The repairs to the Crusader and the new Builder should be done by now, so we can get Barry the Builder now. We'll look at enhancing WARM's suits (and upgrading our own, the Crusader is going to need some new equipment for the base assault) when we wake up.
>>30569460Not really a question we can ask Barry, since Jake doesn't have the context he'd need to, but I'm wondering what Gundams Terminal has. The Strike Freedom would likely not have been completed if Kira wasn't there to pilot it, and the Akatsuki might not have been successfully retrieved without his intervention (certainly Mu wouldn't be there to pilot it without Kira sensing something off about Neo). So are we just going to have to deal with Infinite Justice? Or is someone else (Waltfield? Maybe even Lacus herself?) piloting the Strike Freedom, now? And I suppose Terminal could still have gotten the Akatsuki after Orb handed over their military hardware. We've got somewhere between one and three ace units to deal with.
>>30569557“Alright, I’ll go get some rest. That fabrication machine I told you about should be put together by now, do you want me to bring it down so you can look at it?” Barry shakes his head. “No, I still need to finish this work on Mara. Bring it down when you wake up, I’ll have time to properly look it over then.”With that you leave the R&D ‘Lab’ and make your way back to the Treasure Star, finding another AGE Builder waiting in the hanger to be offloaded. You find Daiki in the Grand Wing Control System room, still working away with Mineva handing him tools and parts. The Control System looks a lot better than it used too, but it’s still a mess internally only with most of the burn out wiring replaced and a few of the simpler, more straight forward components replaced.“Hey Daiki, I’m going to hit the hay I just came by to ask how everything’s going.” You say as you look over the control system.“It’s going better than it was. I’ve fixed part of the control system but there’s a lot of work to be done before it’ll be fully operational again. With a little more work I might be able to get an idea of where we’ll be heading next, compared to where we came from that is.” Daiki says as he sets down his tools and wipes his brow.“How have Jerid and Mouar been acting?” You ask.“They did what you asked them to do. One of their machines works, the other is still in pieces. I inspected it myself and slipped a little failsafe in case they decide to try and take us at gunpoint. I have them cleaning things up now, outside of some mild complaining they haven’t tried anything.” “Before you ask I’ve been very helpful” Mineva adds before you can ask."Outside of a vigilant assistant she can roughly estimate when the Grand Wing System will jump. We won't be leaving for at least another 24 hours or so.">(Continued)
>>30570012"Again it's only a estimation. Last time this ship jumped long before I guessed it would." Mineva crosses her arms and scowls into space, as if trying to glower at the ship for defying her."Any idea why?" You ask."Not really, all I can say is I don't think it was something to do with the ship..." "Maybe it's a good sign?" Daiki suggests. "Maybe the Treasure Star itself is leading us back home?""As nice as that would be, I'd rather not leave something like that to chance. Do you need any help? here?""No, I'm fine. Mineva is a good assistant. You just do what you need to do."After waving the two a good night and grabbing a snack from the kitchen, you go into your quarters aboard the ship and flop down on the bed to sleep. How long would you like to sleep Jake?
>>30570198>"Not really, all I can say is I don't think it was something to do with the ship..." I blame the Ide. Damn Sixth Civilization, messing with our space-time continuum. Anyway, let's sleep for seven hours, then wake to do some upgrades. We've been talking about rebuilding the Chimera Cowl, we might as well do it. Maybe throw in some Cosmic Era tech we get from examining the WARM suits, too. The Chimera would be nicely enhanced by swapping out the DODS spray gun for the dual-purpose spray guns the DOM Troopers use. And they've got much stabler beam shields than we do, we might be able to improve ours by copying them. Also, see if they've got any flight packs lying around, giving the Crusader flight capability is going to be essential if we're going up against Cosmic Era Gundams.
>>305701987 Hours sounds good.Let's throw the Byarlant and Apparartus data into the AGE Builder. We might be able to pump out a suit for Jerid to fly around in.
>>30570412And borrow Minovsky tech. Daiki seemed to imply they work here. It might not work when we get home, but having some mega-particle cannons for right here and now would help a lot. Even if we don't get that, analyzing the Apparatus would let us get our hands on the half-control system, which we can definitely make some pilot systems upgrades with.
>>30570306>>30570412Setting your alarm clock for seven hours you turn out the lights, get comfortable, and let your mind wander as you drift off to sleep thinking of all the things you wish to build when you wake up.Your rest is rather peaceful and uninterrupted, but you have a strange dream that doesn't allow you to get the most out of your rest. Getting out of bed with a yawn you honestly can’t remember most of it, but thankfully it didn't involve chanting and it didn't seem prophetic in any way, unless bananas and programming a mobile suit to break dance somehow hold the key to ending the war and getting you home.Taking a brief shower, you have a pancake sandwich for breakfast before heading off to the hanger. What do you want to do first Jake?>[A] Work on making new equipment for the Crusader>[B] Check out what mobile suits W.A.R.M has and see what you can do to bolster/improve them.>[C] Help move the other AGE Builder down to R&D and see what you can do to improve the Mara.>[D] Other (write in)
>>30570724>[C] Help move the other AGE Builder down to R&D and see what you can do to improve the Mara.>[B] Check out what mobile suits W.A.R.M has and see what you can do to bolster/improve them. Before we do anything else, we need to deliver the new Builder. Once we do, get the two Builders networked together so they can share the load of parts production. Then we'll start analyzing the WARM suits and seeing how we can improve them, while keeping an eye out for anything we can use to improve the Crusader or Mara.
>>30570818Moving the AGE Builder is a bit of work, it’s pretty damn big and the base’s corridors are fairly narrow. Thankfully there’s a door built into the roof of the R&D lab to get large machines and equipment inside and out without too much hassle. After hauling the fabricator outside and to the hidden door with some assistance from Lhuga, you lower it into the R&D lab. You save time and bring the Crusader into the lab with you instead of returning it to the ship.“So, how does it look?” You ask Barry as you exit your machine and lower yourself to the floor.“It’s interesting to say the least.” He says, looking it over. “What materials does it use?”“A special kind of material that’s a cocktail of various things, they’re not hard to make though. We’ll be leaving you guys a recycler, so you can make turn scrap metal into something more usable.” You explain, helping to hook up Barry’s computers to the AGE Builder. At first the computer’s won’t register or connect with the AGE Builder, but Barry quickly fixes with some programming wizardry.“The OS seems to be missing some stuff…” Barry states after getting a look at the AGE Builder’s interface.“The original had the ability to analyze information and generate new weapons and machines based on the data it received. However it was black boxed and all we could do was copy the fabrication part of the software.”“This will do just fine. What do you plan to do now?” Barry asks.“Well I’d like to take a look at the suits you guys have, maybe I can do something to improve them. That and I’d like to help you improve the Mara…”Barry nods. “Alright, let me show you what we have…”>(Continued)
>>30570818Sounds alright with me. Also, if we can, see if we can replicate one of those ammo makers we used back on Zarth for these guys.As for potential upgrades, lets go Vagan on that thing. The SEED timeline has some technology that could help us with figuring out how to mass-produce the IUS, EM shielding, all that.
>>30571440Oh, yeah. If we got our hands on Mirage Colloid we could patch it with our limited understanding of IUS and EM Armor to finish them. But by this point in the Cosmic Era pretty much nobody but the Junk Guild uses that tech, and they're on Mars in this AU.
>>30571530Yeah. Also, the DRAGOON for our XCOM system, the Virus Spreader mixed with the SENTINEL, and so on. I guess we could combine the Black Raven cells with the Phase Armor for increased protection against attacks, as well as a fuel source - and it'd be useful for new armor research.
>>30571434The suits W.A.R.M has available are: X8 GAT-01 Strike Dagger: Apparently a mass production version of a Gundam, this suit has a simple armament consisting of head mounted CIWS, a single beam saber, a beam rifle, and a shield. It’s well rounded and lacking phase change armor, but its battery has a significantly longer life in the field then the Gundam it was based off of. It’s easy to repair and maintain, a lot of them are utilizing make shift parts and components with only minor issues. There’s lot of room for improvement, but they’ve lasted this long because of their ease of repair and durability. X6 ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior: Equipped with a shoulder shield, a beam axe, and hand grenades this suit reminds you of the suits used by Zalam & Euba. It’s durable and seems to be very adaptable, with 2 of the models present working of parts salvaged from a dozen different suits. Like the Strike Dagger it doesn’t use phase change armor, but has a long operation time and has survived this long because of it’s durability and adaptability.X5 ZGMF-XX09T DOM Trooper: These five suits were recently stolen from Terminal during your escape. They sport Phase Change Armor, High Output Nuclear Reactors, Beam Shields, Long Beam Sabers, and multi-setting scattering beam guns in the chest. These units were equipped with Bazooka-like beam cannons and from what you can tell they seem to be in fine condition. If you wish to modify these it might take some more time than the others.>(Continued)
>>30571738x2 MWF-JG73 Civilian Astray JG Custom: These units remind you a bit of a Gundam, but show the design aspects of being made by civilians. Sporting only two beam sabers and a beam pistol of all things, these units don’t appear to have been used very much. Despite that Barry swears by their performance and states that they haven’t been used in the hopes of saving them for an important operation or a time where they could be enhanced like now. These suits hold immense potential and are blank slates waiting to be molded into something...Outside of some missile trucks, a few beat up transports, and some helicopters these are everything W.A.R.M has to their name right now.So Jake, what do you wish to do?(I’m going to Dinner, I’ll be back in a bit. Talk amongst yourselves and plan till I get back)
>>30571763First of all, we put the data for whatever suit we dick around with into both AGE builders so we can pump out more if we break them.Second, take a look at the Astrays and the ZAKU. Does WARM have any Striker or Wizard Packs? A Providence Zaku would be an amazing help for them, but they probably don't have the pack for it. Dunno if we have anyone Weeaboo enough to pilot it, but we could try modifying one of the Astrays into a Sengoku Astray. Overwhelming Close combat would be useful if they have to fight in the base. We also might be able to modify one into something like the Hyperion with the Heavy Beam Shields and Cannons.
>>30571763Alright, we'll be giving them the tech for our reactors soon enough. Those should pack enough power for a couple of upgrades. Anyway, all the suits should get a wear upgrade. Steal the idea from the Merlin - easily swappable and interchangeable parts, basically the lightweight version of the AGE wear system based on using hardpoints. Allows for faster repairs, and equipping of specialized wears for the various occasions. Now, the Strike Dagger. We could combine it with the Adele blueprints for a basic, all-purpose grunt unit. The head CIWS can be replaced with beam vulcans. The chest should have one heavy beam vulcan installed (just in case), as well as a flashbang system. And allow the thing to use Striker Packs on the backpack. Increase its shield size, make it a phase-shield with a flashbang system, and throw in a tactical grenade thrower as well as a placeholder for some weapons. The shield is mounted on a servo-arm, so the suit can use both arms for weapons while still carrying a shield around. And throw in two hardpoints on the hips - for tactical grenades or extra weapons. If possible, throw in a phase-shield for the entire unit.
>>30572043To your knowledge W.A.R.M. doesn't have any equipment for their mobile suits at this time. Weapons and equipment for mobile suits seem to be just as scarce as mobile suits themselves.
>>30572239Well, we do have two magic stuff making machines if you'd stop ignoring when people say to use them.
>>30572043This is CE, of course there's someone weeboo enough to pilot a Sengoku Astray. The attack will probably be entirely centered around the Mara - and that thing has no close-combat capabilities, so we'll need something to get in close and fight dirty. The new Strike Daggers should focus on providing ranged support via sniping and bombarding, as well as medium range support with their beam rifles. And speaking of beam guns, combine the DODS tech for spinning beams with what they have available. It should pack enough of a punch to wreck some serious shit.Closer combat, as well as protecting the other suits, is the job of the new Zaku Warriors. Same deal with the Strike Daggers - since the parts are scarce, make interchanging and repairs much easier using the hardpoint system from the Merlin.Mount another shield on the other shoulder, and add to them grenade launchers as well as flashbang systems. The head gets beam vulcans, the chest gets a heavy beam scatterer. These guys must have proper shielding, since their job will be to engage other suits in melee and close combat. They'll fight with DODS shotguns and regular DODS guns, and should have improved thrusters to move around fast and hit hard.
>>30572613There have been a few people from the past couple of threads who wanted to throw Byarlant and Apparatus data into the AGE Builder to try and get Jerid a mech so we wouldn't have a perfectly usable MS pilot loitering about the Treasure Star. (Besides, not like we're going to dump the Apparatus Remains any time soon, wouldn't be surprised if those went home with us.)Also, we do have two magic stuff making machines, and I'm pretty sure we have Beam Cannons and Beam Shields, and whatever Weeaboo Magic we need to make a Sengoku Astray floating about in there. Shame about the striker and wizard packs though.
>>30572613> allowing the pilot to turn the phase change armor on the shield off and on to save powerYeah, lets do that.As for the DOMs and ZAKUs, similar to the Adele Dagger from above. Just throw in heavier armor and because they'll be much more involved in close combat quarters, some dirty tricks, and stronger guns. The Adele Daggers are grunts, the Adele ZAKUs are shock troops, and the DOMs are there to wreck shit on targets that the other troops are to pin down.
>>30572773Sounds similar to variable phase shift. >It allows the MS to automatically alter the strength and by extension the power consumption of the PS Armor, depending on what combat configuration that MS is in.
>>30571763This is the Cosmic Era. No matter how good our grunts nothing gets done without ace custom suits. Good thing we have those Astrays, then. Okay, give the Astrays fusion reactors and Phase Shift. It's good stuff, despite Barry's objections, and with enough power supply has no real downside. One of the Astrays gets upgraded for high-speed melee combat. Lightwave thrusters for flight and hoverskating (some sideways-pointing ones like the Blue Frame uses for dodging and strafing, too). DOM-type scatter beam gun in the chest for one-man Jetstream Attacks and attenuating incoming attacks. A pair of short-bladed Excalibusters for combination melee and ranged combat (base them off the Artimes' beam guns rather than the standard DODS rifle) and a pair of sub-arms holding beam shields for a final defensive layer. Maybe a railgun in the head like the Gawain, too. And some foot-knives, like the Blue Frame. Call it the Sanction Gundam, to play off the Justice. The other Astray gets to be a ranged support unit. Lots of beam shields, have them cover the whole body at full output. Make it so it can expand the shields to cover allies or focus them for beam spike crashes, too. It's an upgraded Hyperion, basically. A pair of Caladbol-guns like the Merlin had, and SEM Rifles on the hips with AP Plasma. It too has the sub-arms, but rather than beam shields they carry mirror coated physical shields to mess with any beam spam that might occur. Also has lightwave thrusters with flight capability, but focused less on speed and maneuverability and more on reaching advantageous firing angles. It is the Liberation Gundam, to play off of the Freedom.
>>30572846It is pretty much that, yeah.Considering how low WARM is with materials, they should focus on survival, guerrilla tactics and salvaging stuff. So basically, all the mook suits are based on the Adele, while their wears are based on the ZAKUs, DOMs, and whatever else they have in here.
>>30572987Also, since Barry is apparently our resident computer expert, have him make a copy of the learning OS we have put in our suits.Maybe even make a pseudo AGE System - instead of learning and evolving on its own, the thing just monitors performance of certain parts, and based on those comes up with possible tweaks for the machine. The engineers then use that data to improve and customize their suits.
>>30572934They have the DRAGOON, right? If so, the Liberation can use beam shield bits similar to the Merlin.
>>30573234Nope. No DRAGOONs. But shield generators in SEED are small, we can just put a bunch of them all over. Say...on on each forearm, shoulder, wing, knee and the chest. And maybe scrap the reflector shields and just cover the whole thing in mirror coating. That would make it more susceptible to physical attacks since it couldn't use phase shift, but the beam shields should cover for that. Plus it would look great. A shining golden Gundam, surrounded by crystalline barriers of blue energy, hovering in the sky as it cleaves enemies apart with sweeps of its beam guns. Meanwhile its partner the Sanction would be clad in dark grey from the high-intensity phase shift while surrounded by a red nimbus of energy from the scatter gun as it zooms around the battlefield cutting suits apart. We need some shock and awe. I think they can provide it.
>>30573097Programming a Pseudo AGE System would take years even with Barry's programming ability. It took Flit most of his childhood to complete the AGE System, however you could share the OS that's utilized in your suits. It's an updated version of the OS you wrote as a kid, only with the bugs worked out and some improvements made. It allows the pilot to interrupt the programmed motions of the suit, allowing for smoother reactions to sudden attacks. >>30572701(Sorry, I've just been trying to get to the meat of things. We can easily go back and do that once this is finished)>>30572701>>30573327Alright so general consensus so far on what people want done:-Modify the suits with design aspects of the Adele for better easy of maintenance and flexibility in terms of repair with interchangeable parts-Add a hardpoint system to allow for the wide use and application of equipment/wears-Adele Daggers will be modified for mid-long range support, Adele Zakus will be modified for close quarters combat, and the Adele DOMs will be outfitted for heavy assault purposes.-Shell based CIWS systems will be replaced with beam Vulcans-Shields will be modified with Phase Change Armor, secondary batteries, and the ability to turn the phase change armor on and off to conserve power. -Existing beam rifles will be upgraded with DODS tech where applicable for additional power. Overall W.A.R.M’s suits will be made more effective, easier to repair, and more adaptable since they are low on materials and parts as it is.Everyone also seems to want the Astray Civilian Customs modified to be high performance ace units though the only detailed suggestions so far have been for the Sanction and Liberation Gundams, though the Sengoku has been mentioned a few times. Does this sound right so far?
>>30573391Sounds good to me. Some nice general upgrades and a pair of aces, what more do you need in the Cosmic Era? Plus they'll have the Treasure Star and a pair of Titans. Hell, that's more than Terminal had back when they conquered the world. Let's do it.
>>30573391Sounds alright. Also, if possible, share with them the anti-beam chaff and goo grenades. As for the ace suits, let's see if we can get them to describe what they want to pilot first - so far, we have one beast in melee and another in defense. I'm guessing we'll need another for ranged combat - probably based on Daiki's Phoenix mixed in with the Artimes?>>30573327We really should steal some of their tech. The shining gundam sorta fits with what I imagined our Gen-3 suit to be like - focus on nanominiaturization and light-bending tech - an integrated IUS and EM system, the improved anti-beam coating, and the light propulsion system, all that powered by the Black Raven cells and with a grail-based AI system. Call it the Lancelot.
>>30573391Can we get some anti-beam coating on those shields, too? Because that can block fucking anything in this universe. Even positron cannons. Worst that will happen is that the suit gets wrecked and the pilot gets a few scars.
>>30573528Nah, Mwu totally survived because that was an anti battleship cannon and he's not a battleship.
>>30573524I was thinking Gallahad for our Gen 3 suit, actually. He's the one who managed to find the Grail, after all (in the later legends, at least. In earlier versions it was Percival, but that got changed because Gallahad's youth and innocence made him a Christ analogue). But yeah, our Gen 3 suit will be pretty beastly, no matter what we call it. We could call it the Bagdemagus and it would still be badass. We've got a lot of neat tech and two decades with which to develop it. Really, I'm more worried about advances to the MP suits. The Clanche and Adele Mk.2 are nice, but I want to take them even further. We've had too many moments in Gen 2 where we went "shit, the Vagans have THAT?" I want them to be the ones responding that way to our suits. Like, I don't just want the Clanches, I want the VF-25 Messiah from Macross Frontier. Something with that level of mobility and ease of transformation seems like a logical result of our applying the design principles of the Gawain to the Clanche. Or taking the Merlin's tech to the Adele Mk.2 to make some super-adaptable land combat suit. I want the Vagans to hit Earth and Earth to hit them back, hard.
>>30573698Well, with Leviathan in charge, we'll probably get advanced versions of the Adele and the Clanche, made by combining their schematics with the AGE-2s we had, as well as the Merlin and Gawain. So yeah, the Adele Mk II will probably include some parts from the Merlin, the Clanche will have Gawain parts, and if we manage to reverse-engineer the Zeydra, probably an IUS and EM shielding as well. And the noble families will probably share some of their data with the guys in charge as well. The Zarths had nanotech stored somewhere, who knows what else they've been hiding.Though we'll probably have to go search for the EXA-DB instead of relying on them.
>>30573698I want the Vagans to hit Earth and Earth to hit them back, hard.>Crosswires fails to contain his maniacal laughter>>30573528>>30573524After checking with Barry you discover W.A.R.M doesn't really have access or knowledge of how to make Anti-Beam Chaff. Thankfully Goo Grenades, Anti-Beam Chaff, and Anti-Beam coating for the most part aren't that hard to make and you share your recipes>>30573524After talking over what you want to do to the Strikes, Zakus, and DOMs you eventually ask who W.A.R.M intended to pilot the Civilian Astrays."Well Sai was going to pilot one of them, and I believe General Campbell intended for the other to be his personal unit." Barry explains."Do you know their preferences in terms of mobile suit combat?" "Well General Campbell fought during the first war using a GINN and he's piloted anything we could get our hands on during base assaults. However I believe he has a preference for melee combat.""What about Sai?""From what I understand he's somewhat newer to mobile suit combat, though he's pretty good with most ranged weapons.""Do you think they'll mind if I modify the Civilian Astrays?""Considering what we've had to use in the past you could do just about anything to those suits and they'd be satisfied."Barry and the Engineers are ready to assist you in your modifications, the AGE Builders are warmed up and ready to go. Are you ready to get to work Jake?
>>30573935>he's pretty good with most ranged weaponsSo a Heavyarms for Sai. Got it.Yeah, sure, let's get cracking.
>>30573935Come on, Crosswire, don't be like that. It's rude to laugh at my dreams. My petty, meager dreams. I just don't want to be completely outclassed again. We don't have to kick their asses, just match up to them in capabilities.
>>30573935Let's make some suits.
>>30574077You idiot, he's referring to the colonies and asteroids hitting the Earth.
>>30574124Is he? He could be laughing at anything. Maybe he's laughing at the idea of Vagan even being the threat in Gen 3, when Arthur and Leviathan are about. He could have found that guy's comment funny for any number of evil GMing reasons.
>>30574124Don't worry, Nanomachines will solve that problem. It'll solve it all the way to Jupiter.
>>30574209Oh, now that would be a fun universe to visit during this trip. The more laid-back setting of Turn A would just be so calming for Jake.
>>30574152I wasn't laughing at him specifically, I'm not being a prick. I just found it funny his sentiments matched someone else's.mindset in this Quest...Alright, this is a pretty tall order so you guys are gonna have to roll three times.Let's do the electronic check first. >(Roll 1d20+15. The DC is 25)
Rolled 1 + 15>>30574252
Rolled 15 + 15>>30574267I hate you with all my hate.
>>30574124That was only Zeheart, I think. >>30574267...fuck. Okay, we just wrecked one of the suits, didn't we?
>>30574285Why did I just now realize the potential foreshadowing of "Silver Chalice Treaty" when we're developing "Grail" technology? Well. That's not good.
>>30574512I'm guessing the old Feds used that as a technique of mutually assured destruction. That's why no one in charge dared to search for the EXA-DB - either SID will come after them, or if total war breaks out again, the Silver Chalice is there to exterminate both sides in the conflict. The Vagans won't know what hit them if they drive Second Moon to Earth.
>>30574683And in that old audiolog we found, Travis was worried about nanomachines getting out and killing people. So assuming he wasn't being needlessly paranoid, nanite weapons were a known threat.
>>30574732And that shelter Fram found was full of people that were eaten alive by the nanomachines. Also, Uther said how Arthur came for him with a force he's never seen before, destroyed everything in his path, and then ended the war - apparently by threatening them with the Silver Chalice. And MaG was the one controlling that swarm through the SENTINEL system. No wonder he erased her memory after that - she was genocidal and in charge of a world-destroying weapon.
>>30574924I don't think the people in that facility were killed by the nanites. I would expect the bones and clothing to be dissolved, if that were the case. But Arthur using the SENTINEL system to subvert Zarth's tech and turn the Crusader into the core of a nanomachine swarm? Yeah, that seems plausible. Hell, that would explain the machine he's plugged into, if he's basically constructed the Devil Gundam. He's the core life unit! I hope our trip takes us to the Future Century timeline, because we're going to need a Sekiha Tenkyoken.
>>30574267>1>Critical FailureImmediately you suffer numerous issues concerning the beam vulcans and weapons in regards to the mobile suits batteries. You chose to replace the CIWS systems and install beam vulcans in the ZAKU's to remove the issue of worrying about ammunition, but you failed to consider the strain on the batteries. After installing the electrical connections and running some tests you find the beam vulcans on the Adele Zakus and Daggers murder the battery life after only a few short bursts. Failing to find a solution, you remove the vulcans entirely and give the Dagger's back their shelled based CIWS systems.Everything else seems to go fairly well and you move onto the mechanical modifications to the suit...>(Roll 1d20+18)

So the nanites broke free, Zarth initiated their self-destruct sequence, but ended up trapped in there to die with his men. Harsh. Apparently Arthur did come back for him when he found out what they did to Rysis over there. As for Arthur being the core unit, I'm pretty sure that he'd need the SENTINEL unit to control the swarm. And he left that thing behind along with a mind-washed MaG and the Crusader. As far as we know, the only other system similar to the SENTINEL was SIN (both were developed by Uther), and that thing somehow ended on Second Moon integrated with Ezelcant. So I doubt that it's Arthur himself inside that machine that controls the Federation - but a copy of his brain (like Idol in SID) is entirely possible.

>>30575578It's not a permanent issue, the flaw can be corrected at another time. >17+18= 38>SUCCESSWhile you had bumps in regards to the mechanical and electrical systems of the suits, W.A.R.M's engineers assist you as best they can and you're able to improve the suits at large. The Adele Strike appears more streamlined and simpler then the original Strike Dagger. While it still retains it's physical vulcans, you made up for that by including two sub arms hidden in the shoulders, both strong enough to carry a shield or an additional weapon, allowing the Adele Strike to wield a Phase Change shield and attack the enemy with an additional arm. The Adele ZAKU gained an additional shoulder shield, phase change armor was applied to both and external batteries were mounted on the insides of the shield. Grenade launchers, and enhanced beam tomahawks were produced as well. The Adele DOM didn't need a lot of work, outside of the hard points, and the external modifications, you modified the beam shields to be stronger since Adele DOM utilizes a nuclear reactor. You also modified it's beam bazooka's with DODS properties for additional fire power. You upgraded as mean beam rifles as you could with DODS tech and added flash systems to all the suits.Last you tackled the modifications to the two Civilian Astrays. Using two spare MS fusion reactors from the Treasure Star you went all out in customizing the two suits. You made one melee oriented with a focus on speed and the other ranged oriented with a focus on raw defensive abilities. You equipped the melee oriented one with an array of powerful lightwave thrusters for flight and hover capabilities, equipping it with a scattering beam gun in the chest, a pair of short bladed simplified Excalibusters for melee/ranged weapons, a pair of sub arms with beam shields built into them, and beam daggers built into the tips of the feet. >(Continued)
>>30575824> It's not a permanent issue, the flaw can be corrected at another time.If they're worried about the structural integrity, maybe we can drop in some Titus parts in it and improve it.
>>30575824The ranged oriented one you deck out in heavy armor and install a kind of full body beam 'bubble' system for 360 protection from attacks. It's pretty power intensive and it can't fire it's weapons while using it, but it can still move and literally tank it's way through enemies while it's active. You equip it with two sub arms with physical shields lathered in numerous coats of anti-beam coating and give it a pair of Caladbol Gunblades, a pair of SEM Rifles with massive magazines, and mount a pair of Hy-DODS Rifles on the shoulders.Due to the weight of all the equipment, it makes it hard for the suit to fly, but it makes up for it by being able to hover across the ground at high speeds. You let the engineers name them and they settle on "Sanction" for the first 'GUNDAM' and "Liberation" for the second, apparently they're meant to be parallels of suits Terminal utilized. After a grueling work load and several time wasting incidents you're finally finished and W.A.R.M is far better equipped to handle things. What do you wish to do now Jake?
>>30575968Tell the engineers to get fixing those structural issues.Meanwhile, lets see if we can work on the Mara. Might as well try to reverse engineer some Vagan tech based on what we and WARM have.
>>30575968Set the AGE Builder to making another Chimera wear, this one adapted for atmospheric combat. Flight capability is great to have (especially here) and if we have a tail binder to hold the SEM Rifle for us we can do melee more easily. Plus the beam weapons are always nice to have. Especially if we can swap in a Screaming Nimbus scatter gun for the DODS scatter gun the design currently uses. Full-body beam barriers are awesome, even if they only reduce damage instead of block it completely.
>>30576071Does the Crusader come with the AGE System? If so, maybe we can combine the old Chimera with the blueprints from the captured Zeydra.
>>30576087That's how we made the Chimera in the first place, by combining the Zeydra's specs with the Crusader. Doing it again would be redundant. Though we should see if our AGE System has come up with anything interesting for us before we make any modifications to the Crusader. Maybe we've got some weird jamming field designed from observations of GN particles, Minovsky particles and N-Jammers. That would be cool to have.
>>30576071>>30576114Before this, let's take the time to stick the Byarlant and Apparatus Data into our AGE builder and develop a suit for Jerid. If Terminal finds the Treasure Star, I'd rather not have a potential defender be twiddling his thumbs.
>>30576114Not necessarily. The AGE Builder might very well be able to make improvements to the old Chimera Wear utilizing data from the other Vagan suits you, Dirk, and...Scarlet encountered. After all you're a family and their Gundams were equipped with the same data collection systems as the Crusader is. It might be faster to see what the AGE Builder generates. >>30576147You could also do this as well.
>>30576199Okay, then. Let's load in the UC parts and then see what the Builder comes up with for both Jerid and the Crusader's upgrades.
>>30576114The original Chimera was just Desil's Zedas slapped on the Crusader some 25 years ago, not the Zeydra Zeheart was piloting. The Geist wear Asemu was using for a while was developed from those specs. I was thinking of getting the old Chimera and combining it with the Zeydra and Wiegel we got during the attack on Zarth - it'd have improved EM shielding, a mini IUS, and a lot of guns.>>30576147Stick all the data we have so far into it. The Byarlant, the ZAKUs, everything. Then let it churn out a Chimera Mk II and a Apparatus (or two).Didn't Jerid fix his suit, though?
>>30576263Oh, whoops. You're right. I got Zedas and Zeydra mixed up. The Vagans have a lot of similarly named suit.
>>30576263>Didn't Jerid fix his suit, though? They fixed Mouar's Byarlant, Jerid's Apparatus got cut in half and we left half of it in the UC Era.
>>30576364Right. Well, lets make him a suit, then. Might as well ask those two what's their side of the UC story.
>>30576437For some reason the way you phrased that has me now thinking of a Gundam/West Side Story crossover. Third Side Story, or something like that.
Rolled 5, 42 = 47>>30576364Yep. >>30576263>>30576236After making sure the W.A.R.M Engineers were going to get to work on fixing the structural integrity issues of the modified suits limbs you went back to the Treasure Star to make a new suit for Jerid and a new wear for you.Upon firing up the AGE Builder you realize it's been a long ass time since you used this function. Flit and his children utilized the weapon generation system a lot more then you ever did, mostly because you built most of your weapons and suits yourself.Feeding the data gained from fighting the Apparatus and retrieved from the unit itself, you watch the Builder go to work before feeding it the Chimera Data and the buttload of Vagan data you collected. You wait and eventually the AGE Builder produces somethings...

Initially you don't see the guided weapons until you realize the suits limbs ARE the guided weapons. With powerful beam cannons built into the bottom of it's legs, in it's palms, and positioned on it's forehead, it's limbs are far more dangerous them before and gives it greater all-range attack capabilities. The AGE Builder calls this the "Totus Apparatus" While you were putting together the Totus, the AGE Builder finished your new wear...>(Continued)
>>30576740Nice. We've got to hang onto that design. Combine it with our nanotech research when we get home and we've got the Turn X.
>>30576740Do we have the data from the Merlin and Gawain? If so, we should feed those to the Builder next for the rebuilt Merlin.
>>30576934That can wait until Dirk's out of his coma, surely?
>>30576740>5The wear comes out in pieces and at first you're concerned with how slim and fragile it looks. However after it all comes out and you install it onto the Crusader, you realize that the wear is a surprising upgrade to the Chimera Wear. While the Chimera was good it was always a bit...clunky. It felt more like you yanked off parts of a Zedas and slapped them onto your suit. It was useful and did it's job, it even got you confused for a Vagan more times they you enjoy recalling. However this wear is slimmer, sleeker, and integrates better with the Crusader. The four wing-like Lightwave propulsion units connect to the back but don't get in the way of the Crusader's regular thrusters, the gauntlet like segments slide over the Crusader's forearms and look more like exotic armor additions then powerful DODS vulcans. The same goes for the light wave vierners in the leg segments and the chest plate like piece with the large 'Buster Beam Cannon' built into it. The only thing that looks odd is the tail, but then again it looks bizarre on Vagan suits so that's fine. This tail is shorter, but more flexible and sturdy. You could easily mount light and medium weaponry on it like a SEM or Hy-DODS Rifle or utilize the beam cannon already built into the tail.Overall the new wear looks freaking awesome! The AGE Builder gave it a stupid name and you really don't think Chimera Wear Mk.II does this new equipment justice. What do you wish to call this new wear Jake?
>>30576949Yeah, sure. Just curious to what the end result would be.Maybe feed the builder data for the Treasure Star and the Diva?
>>30576975Crosswire, how difficult is it to make a wear into it's own MS, because goddamn that's gorgeous. Also, Crusader Legend?
>>30576975Belphegor?It'd fit with the old Black Devil theme and it's the name of a devil associated with science and invention.
>>30577063This suit isn't nearly bulky or shoulder arm-y enough to be the Belphegor.
>>30576975We have a proto-Legilis. Fuck yes. I am going to choose to assume it looks exactly like that picture, even though it should logically look more like the standard Crusader. Because that is just too cool.As for a name, how about the Saladin Gundam? The nemesis of the Crusaders, who nonetheless won their respect and admiration. Appropriate for a suit made from adding Vagan tech to the Crusader. Alternately, if we're not going for a complete rename, call it the Fata Morgana pack. An Arthurian name that refers to an optical illusion that brings together seemingly incongruous elements of the landscape.
>>30577023It wouldn't necessarily be difficult, but there would be some 'gaps' that would need to be filled between where the wear and the suit. This wear seems pretty advanced, but there's obviously not enough data available for the AGE Builder to make a suit. However you could take a shot at it. The suit itself would probably be a very experimental prototype, but hey it's been ages since you built a suit. And as much as you enjoy upgrading the Crusader and making new wears, you couldn't bring yourself to drastically remodel it.If you wish to make a new suit around the wear roll.(1d20+18)
Rolled 7 + 18>>30577120I really don't want to make a whole new suit. The Crusader's stood with us through thick and thin. But I can't resist making something that cool looking. Not to mention claiming that design aesthetic for ourselves before the Vagans can. Ah, screw it, let's give it a try.
Rolled 12 + 18>>30577120Time for Coolness!At the very least we'll have a conversation starter.
>>30577120We're not really in a rush for a new suit, are we? At least we have the basis for the Gen-3 suit now.We could feed Daiki's Phoenix and the rest of the Treasure Star suits in the meantime to the AGE builder, see if it can come up with something cool.>>30577101I'm guessing Jake will end up piloting the Legilis in our timeline. That, or the Silver Chalice Crusader.>>30577080I know it's not the suit from X, I just thought it'd fit nicely with the theme of Jake being a mad scientist as well as his moniker as the "Black Devil".
>>30577209What I'm worried about is what the Vagans will have in place of the Legilis in this timeline. In canon Zeheart started Gen 2 with a custom Zedas, upgraded to the Zeydra, started Gen 3 with the Ghiraga and upgraded to the Legilis. But in this universe he started with the Zeydra and upgraded to the Ghiraga before Gen 2 was over. So does that mean that our nemesis in Gen 3 is going to have the Legilis from the start? Awhat is Vagan going to introduce as the upgraded version of our ace rival's suit? Is Vagan Gear going to be a recurring enemy?
>>30577265Well, the Vagan Gear is already functional, and besides the Crusader and what remained of the Black Raven, it is a remnant from the Colony Nation wars. All the Vagan suits are attempts to reverse engineer that thing. And unlike the Crusader and the Black Raven, the Vagan Gear wasn't stripped of its equipment or damaged in the fighting. So we'll have mass produced X-Rounders flying around in MP Ghirargas, MP Vagan Gears wrecking shit, while Leviathan is rolling out their MP versions of Old Fed suits that they had hidden somewhere. If I remember correctly, Fairdain has a couple of those things - the suits they were using during their infighting were mass produced and reverse engineered by Madorna.
>>30577425Please god no. MP Ghirargas I could stand (though they'd probably be limited production ace suits, this story's equivalent of the Jillsbain) but MP Vagan Gears would be too much. Besides, I want to see the Danazine and Wrozzo and Reganner and all those other delightfully silly designs from Gen 3. I need my robot dinosaurs, man. Or robot frogs in the Wrozzo's case. Robot gorillas in the Xamdrag's. Robot animals in general, I guess.
>>30577171>30Intrigued by the wear you produce another and begin to tinker with it. Eventually your tinkering becomes building and after several hours and numerous skipped bathroom breaks you complete an entirely new suit built around the wear. It's a mix of Vagan design principles and Earth Federation technology, the best of both worlds in a sleek white and black package.Upon running some diagnostics however you find there are some issues with the suit. Less problems that need to be solved and more a limitation of the technology you have a available. Once you get home you'll have plenty of time to work on it though. In the mean time you have the Crusader Legend wear to tide you over.Just as you exit the new suit you see Sai run into the hanger and rush over to you."You've got to come quickly to the assembly hall!" Sai shouts."What's the matter?" You ask."Just follow me!"You run after Sai and follow him to the auditorium like assembly hall, where most if not all of the W.A.R.M personal are present, Daiki, Captain Sirius, Jerid, Mouar, and even Mineva are present.General Campbell stands on stage with a grim look on his face, rage boiling beneath his calm expression."2 hours ago there was a mass riot in the North American city of Detroit. After Terminal Suppression troops failed to quell the riot, Terminal Mobile Suit teams came in and leveled the entire city. We don't have any accurate reports on the civilian death toll but with our experience with Terminal I assume you can all guess it was nothing short of staggering."General Campbell's hands clench into fists and he loses his demeanor for a moment."We are assaulting Terminal HQ immediately. Make any last minute repairs and collect all equipment and troops for deployment. I've already contacted other resistance groups in the general area and told them of our plan. Ether Terminal dies today or we do. Now move out!">(Continued)
>>30577583>2 hours ago there was a mass riot in the North American city of Detroit. After Terminal Suppression troops failed to quell the riot, Terminal Mobile Suit teams came in and leveled the entire city. You do realize Crosswire, that would be an improvement on Detroit.
>>30577661Nah, Blue Cosmos cleaned that place up years ago. It was one of the few good things to come out of the BCPU program: They actually made Robocop.

>>30577583Well, we could combine it with some Clanche data, if the suit gets wonky. Lhuga could pilot that thing in the meantime. Or Fram, though she'll probably end up piloting the Vagan Qubeley.
>>30577815(OK that's fucking awesome, taking this image)>>30577583Everyone begins leaving the assembly hall, a few of the younger members are crying or trying not to cry as they leave. You catch the General as he begins to leave as well."General, is there anything I can do?" You ask."You've helped us a lot since you arrived here, but this isn't your war. If you don't wish to get involved I won't demand it of you. However I think you should be there with us when we turn their HQ into a smoldering crater. Even if all of us die and I grow old, I'll be happy knowing someone from another world saw us bury these monsters."What do you say Jake? Do you wish to support W.A.R.M in their attack on Terminal HQ?
>>30577826Let's go beat up lacus, it'll make us feel better. Just seem Mineva on radio so we know when we have to bug out.
>>30577815Oh, now that's cool. Yes, Fram gets that if she's a pilot in Gen 3. Or maybe the Papillon if we can get cloaking technology miniaturized for funnels.>>30577826Let's go kill Lacus. I've wanted to do that for years now, I won't let a little thing like dimensional hops stop me. Besides, Mara needs backup, and W.A.R.M only has two aces. There might be as many as three, there. They need our help. And it should be pretty fun to see how the SEM Rifle can stack up against phase shift armor. Uh, we did rebuild the SEM, right? I'm assuming that was part of our repairs. What about our composite shield? Because I'd like that, too.
>>30577826Lets talk with our crew first. Otherwise, yeah, these guys need to have their asses stomped.Do we have the schematics for a Plasma Diver Missile, just in case?>>30577522Depends on how the situation back on Second Moon escalates, I guess. They must know that someone authorized 4 colony drops onto Earth, which is against their Eden propaganda. And even so, someone was capturing colonies, and instead of harvesting them for the food they so necessarily need, or infrastructure or something, they decided to drop them. I'm guessing a civil war will break out on Second moon, and the silly Vagan designs will be the guys who stood up to Ezelcant being stupid and mind-controlled by an ancient insane AI.
>>30577966I think Daiki did that, yeah. And in case he didn't, we can fix that thing in less than two hours.
>>30577966You produced another SEM Rifle, but you didn't get around to making a shield. With the maneuverability of the Crusader Legend though you doubt you'll need a shield. You could probably throw one together during your trip over though.>>30577973>Do we have the schematics for a Plasma Diver Missile, just in case?Considering it's a WMD still not openly used by the Federation? No. Though apparently one was used at the Battle of Zarth...by your daughter..>>30577879>>30577966You turn around and find Daiki, Sirius, Lhuga, and Koketsu behind you accompanied by Mineva, Jerid, and Mouar. "You don't need to ask Jake" Daiki states with a nod."We've helped them this far, I see no sense in stopping now." Captian Sirius says, pushing up his Captain's hat."Terminal sounds like a bunch of creeps and this Lacus chick sounds like bimbo..." Lhuga states, looking eager to get into a fight."As much as I'm not a fan of the situation we're in...I actually liked Detroit. I'll take some enjoyment at showing these Terminal goons how real soldiers fight." Jerid says, Mouar nodding in agreement and adding:"Frankly I couldn't stand the place, but if it'll get us home..." You turn back to Campbell and nod. "It's settled then. We'll help you in your fight!""Excellent. Assemble your crew and get prepped to leave in 15 minutes. We need to reach Terminal HQ in 2 hours!" General Cambpell rushes out of the room and all of you do the same, heading back to the ship.As everyone gets ready to leave, you have a little while to make any last minute weapons. What do you wish to do Jake?
>>30578282You know, once we go back, we need to investigate who the hell thought putting Scarlet in charge was a bright idea. And where her body and the Gawain are. We've been recovering from those wounds for the last six months, it's time we pick up the slack. In the meantime, lets make one of those trick shields, a HyDODS buster and ammo.
>>30578282I'm just worried about the shield since beam spam is a serious possibility. Less so since we're in atmosphere and the DRAGOONs don't work under these conditions, but we might run into something that can't be dodged easily nonetheless. Okay, you said we could fab it in flight, so for now let's go see Barry and help him with any final checks on Mara. Is he going to be the one piloting the thing?
>>30578385We gave him the schematics for the advanced generators, right?I hope he upgraded that thing with them and all the tech he has available.
>>30578366We know where the Gawain is. We still have that. Rysis just took Scarlet herself. Our assumption is that her corpse drifted off after her cockpit was destroyed. A human body is small, non-metallic and (when dead) cold. It's real easy to get one lost in space. As for who put Scarlet in charge, that's Abis's fault. Let's invite him back to Zarth sometime. We'll use the pretense of bringing Seris over to meet Fram. She's been so down ever since Scarlet died, she could use a friend.
>>30578385>>30578366You set the AGE Builder to make a HyDODS Buster based off the one Custom HyDODS your son used with the Merlin. You also have it start fabricating a trick shield just in case. After you have those in the works you leave the ship and head down to R&D, finding that the mobile suits are already leaving and heading towards the transports. You go up to the Mara's cockpit and find Barry inside with numerous console panels torn open and connected to his laptop."Barry? Are you alright? What's the condition of the Mara?" You ask, looking the mobile armor over. You spent most of your time upgrading the mobile suits and making a new wear for the Crusader you didn't have time to work on the Mara with Barry..."Never better" Barry says with a near psychotic grin as he types away on his computer. "The OS isn't complete, but I'll be able to work around that. No one else could pilot the Mara anyway, so it's only fitting no one but me can pilot the Mara now...""The battle's hinging on the Mara, are you sure it can destroy Terminal HQ?"Barry just laughs at that and looks at you, still smiling. "Of course. It'll take five minutes to charge up a full power blast, but once it's fired that mountain fortress of there's will be reduced to a crater swimming pool."You had a feeling Barry had issues before, but it's obvious now that he's fixated on using Mara to send Terminal HQ and everyone it in to oblivion. Mara is well built, but it's not totally finished at least in terms of the operating system. W.A.R.M. doesn't have the firepower to bring down terminal without Mara, if something goes wrong they could be wiped out...What do you wish to Barry?
>>30578542We have two hours. Lets help him and the engineers with that final push.Actually, idea. Could we mount the Mara on top the Treasure Star?>>30578466Yeah, but he got those orders from somewhere. Putting a high school girl into being a commander is a serious breach of regulations. Flit and Jake were investigating why the brass was okay with that, then the entire Zarth incident happened. Something there stinks to high heaven. As for Fram, she's on Big Ring with Mellis, isn't she? We should get them something once we come back from our interdimensional trip.
>>30578618You could probably settle the Mara on the deck of the Treasure Star, side ways anyway. That way you could help with the final preparations. The W.A.R.M engineers shouldn't come on board though considering you already nabbed three people along for the ride.
>>30578618I meant that we could interrogate him. Presumably it goes higher than him, yeah.Helping Barry while we're in-progress is a good idea, too.>>30578679"Come on. I'll help you give the OS a last once-over while we're on the way. I wouldn't want you to lose your chance at this because the gun misfired. We'll mount it on the Treasure Star's top deck. If we can't work the kinks out we'll...I don't know, land the thing on the mountain and fire the gun point blank. "
>>30578679The crazy Martian lady was right. Jake sure does love building stuff.Anyway, yeah, lets help Barry out. Connect the Mara to the Treasure Star, and lets help Barry with that thing.Could we connect its reactors with the ones from the Treasure Star? It'd allow us to fire the Giga-DODS and not risk the ship shutting down.
>>30578773"Alright then, let's move Mara to the Treasure Star's Deck then. No sense in letting you waste your chance at revenge because of a technical misfire..." Barry looks genuinely surprised as you as you look over the progress on the OS he's trying to finish."Jake..." "If we can't work the issues out...we can always fire the cannon at point blank range. I'll get you there myself if that's the case."Barry's psychotic grin disappears and he actually smiles. "Thank you."After moving the Mara to the Treasure Star and prepping the Crusader Legend for combat, you go up to help try and finish Mara before you reach terminal HQ.(1d20+14. DC 25 )
Rolled 19 + 14>>30578857Here we go.
>>30578857No more rolls.
>>30578846Oh, that's a nice mobile suit. That should go in the running for our Gen 3 design.
>>30578846If you complete the OS in time you might have enough time to try that, but Mara will have to fire on Terminal HQ from the deck of the Treasure Star. Still, being able to fire the Giga-DODS without fear of wiping the grand wing system would make up for that.>>30578869You haven't coded anything in a bit, but you're a big help to Barry, with 20 minutes to spare before you come into range of the HQ.Do you wish to connect Mara to the Treasure Star? It wouldn't take away too much power away from the MA, but it would need to stay connected and fire from the deck of the ship. What do you wish to do Jake?
>>30578921(Oops forget this)The Mara is operational. The OS is simple and clunky, but Barry should be able to attack the HQ from a safe distance without the fear of a misfire.
>>30578921What did Barry do to the Mara while we were working on the SEED Adeles, upgrade-wise?Yeah, lets connect them. That way, the Mara doesn't have to be stationary to fire, since the ship will be carrying it around, and we get another cannon on top the Treasure Star.
>>30578921No, keep them separate. If Mara is working fine then there's no sense in keeping them together. Like I said, if things get bad we'll just land Mara on the mountain and fire pointblank. Even if the focusing coils are damaged releasing the much raw energy at point blank should destroy the facility.>>30578982I think the Mara's issues with having to be stationary to fire are more about targeting than balance. Energy weapons, even ones using massive particles, don't produce that much recoil. Putting the Mara on the Treasure Star will probably have the same issues. And even if it doesn't, it can always land on its own. The only reason to connect them is combine their power systems.
>>30578906Yeah, we can combine it with the original design for the FX.Look at it. That thing is so pissed off it wants to eat your face.
>>30579010And possibly kill Barry as well. >>30578982Not a whole lot, he was mostly working on the OS. Apparently he modified the beam generator to be more energy efficient. One vote yes, one vote not to connecting the TS with the Mara.
>>30579010Yeah, but connecting the power systems would allow us to fire both the GigaDODS as well as utilize the IUS. They can detach later on, but for now, we need range and a tactical advantage.
>>30579082Firstly, you really think Barry cares, provided Lacus dies too? Secondly, I assume we can set the overload and then get him out of there in time. If Athrun can do it (on multiple occasions) I'm sure we can.
>>30579088It would only allow the TS to use the Giga DODS. The IUS would definitely draw way too much power even with Mara connected.
>>30579113The Giga DODS has a bigger range, right? It is an anti-colony weapon after all. If we fire that thing first, then deploy the Mara, we'll probably deal enough damage to Terminal forces for WARM troops to go in and kick some ass. The Mara could recharge in the meantime and redeploy to a better position. Though it'd probably make the TS the primary target, which we could use to lure away enemy forces for WARM troops to flank and attack from behind.
>>30579211That could work. I'd be up for that. Fire the Giga DODS, detach the Mara, then launch the suits from the Revolver Catapult to keep Terminal busy. Let's propose it to General Campbell.
>>30579277Yeah. Actually, what's the plan? Did they just rush out with no plan? Who's in charge of this operation? Cagalli? We really need to make some batteries for the Treasure Star. Or get additional generators. Maybe we should feed the data for all the ships we have so far into the AGE builder and see what it comes up with. The mix of the Treasure Star, Baronche and the Diva.
>>30579357I would not put Cagalli in charge of a military operation. Not post-Destiny, anyway.
>>30579277>>30579211"I got an idea, mind if I use the Mara's radio?" You ask as the mountain becomes visible in the distance."Sure..."You call up General Campbell and tell him about the Giga DODS and how you could draw attention away from the Mara and WARM forces."How much damage could it do to the HQ?" General Campbell asked. "Quite a bit, not enough to wipe it out, but enough to punch a hole in the mountain and stir things up. Once we fire it Mara can detach and re-position itself while the heat bares down on us.""Alright I'll allow it, just make sure it's ready by the time we hit the beach."Upon getting permission Barry's help you hook Mara up to the Treasure Star and Sirius dusts off the controls to the Giga DODS.As soon as the Mara is fully connected the Treasure Star reaches the beach along with the WARM Transports. Already you can spot dots in the distance as Terminal Mobile suits deploy in droves.>(Continued)
>>30579400“Supreme Commander Lacus the rebels appear to have some kind of ship with them!” One of the operators exclaimed as WARM forces arrived at the northern beach, smaller patches of terrorist forces began to spring up all around the facility, slowly making their way towards the HQ.“Let me guess, they dug up some archaic Archangel Ship and plan on trying to use the positron cannons to try and damage our base? Those fools should know our fortress is reinforced against those pathetic attacks.” Lacus sat on her large, throne like command chair as she glowered down at the personnel below her as she spoke.“I don’t believe so Commander. It’s a strange ship, it appears to be ether a very bright yellow or its gold plated.”“Gold plated?” Lacus couldn’t help but laugh and descended her ‘throne’ to look at the ship in question. The operator grew nervous as Lacus leaned over his shoulder and stared into his monitor.“What an unusual ship. Where could they have gotten…”“Massive energy spike detected! It’s climbing higher!” One of the other operators shouted and Lacus’s eyes went wide as the barrel of the massive gun attached to the bottom of the golden ship began to glow an intense pink color. Before she could shout a command the screen fell to static and the entire mountain shook with the force of an earthquake, throwing Lacus to the floor and sending the base into darkness------“God damn I wish we could fire this thing more often!” Captain Sirius shouted as he let go of the manual firing device for the Giga DODS cannon.“Alright Barry you’re free to go now. Set up shop somewhere where you can get off a shot unnoticed. We’ll make our way away from here to draw agro off you guys.” You say as you begin disconnecting power cables from the Mara.“Thanks Jake, I think Meer would have liked you.” Barry said before closing the cockpit and taking off. >(Continued)
>>30579629(Actually I need to end this here tonight. I wanted to wrap things up tonight, but I don't want to rush the ending.)
>>30579659That's fine, man. We've already gone about an hour longer than these threads usually do. This was fun. We got to make new suits and bruise Lacus's ego some. What more could we want? See you next time, Crosswire.
>>30579629> “God damn I wish we could fire this thing more often!” Me too.>>30579659Sure thing man. Thanks for running, and see you next time.
>>30579727When we do our designs for the ship upgrades we should make the Photon Blaster Cannon capable of variable output so it can dial down low enough to fire in atmosphere without causing collateral damage. Then we can fire off a blast like that at least once an episode.
>>30579745That'd be sweet. We might as well begin research into Photon weapons once we get back to Dirk and the Diva crew. I'm guessing that Carlos went back to the Magic Schoolbus team, while Desil and Rena were reassigned to the Diva. What I really want to see the Neutron Collapser CDACE has in action. Because yeah, CDACE is around and so far, we haven't been able to reverse engineer anything from him.
>>30579805Well, we don't really want to take him apart. He's doing good work where he is, and taking him out of action so we can reverse-engineer him would be wasteful. I think he may technically be the Governor of Minsry now, actually. As for the laser weaponry, Flit's already managed to make a miniaturized version small enough to mount on a mobile armor. SigMaxxis can't be far behind. Especially if we can rig up something with the IUS to use as a lensing focus. The main issues with lasers are energy efficiency and the large focal arrays they require. If we can bend the light with energy fields instead then miniaturizing the PBC would be a lot easier.
>>30579894Well, he could send us his schematics or something. In case he gets damaged, he'll either initiate a self-repair sequence or have someone build him parts.Poor CDACE. With Yurin and her kids dead or missing, he must feel horrible. They were his family, the same as MaG had Jake.As for the minister, I'm guessing it's either going to be Desil (as Yurin's adopted brother) or Flit.
>>30579981I don't think CDACE had much interaction with the Asuno twins, but he was Yurin's partner in managing her family's foundation. She was his best friend. And he was in charge of colony emergency services, so he's definitely blaming himself for her getting caught in the fire. Not to mention that his Ma G is off in another universe right now, so he doesn't even have his girlfriend around to console him. Man, poor CDACE.You know, I always kind of regretted splitting the AIs up in Gen 2. We established that Ma G and CDACE had established a family with MID as their surrogate son and then we didn't give them any chance to interact. That's something we should do when we get back, there's a lot of interesting interactions they could have. Like Ma G scolding MID for turning himself into an arm, or her response to learning about what she used to be like before she got mind-wiped.
>>30580109Considering how much we're jumping around, I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up during the Colony Nation Wars. Or even sooner, and we run into a younger Rysis and her friends.Man, Dirk waking up will be dark. Jake probably blames himself for not being out there to help his crew and his daughter, and that he was to busy building stuff than helping, Dirk for letting his best friends die and missing on a chance to have one proper talk with them because he was working on the Merlin, Flit for being a crappy dad... Damn.
>>30580230Yeah, it's going to be a bad day for everyone. At least Dirk still has Asemu. Things got strained for them because of Dirk blaming himself for what happened to Mellis, there but they're still friends. I'm thinking that once Dirk wakes up the two will cling strongly to that friendship as a way to cope with all the changes that have occurred in their lives. Hopefully they'll develop together into a power duo for Gen 3. Especially if the Bisidian option comes up. One's got a missing eye, one's got an artificial arm, together they can be the best pirates ever.
>>30580317We'll see. Considering how Dirk has all the worst luck, he could as well end up with Asemu and Rena dating because he spends months in a coma, Romary ended up with Arnold, and Flit going nuts over the deaths of his family. Though that's probably not going to happen (except Romary and Arnold hooking up).Either way, it'd be interesting to see. Especially since MID is probably constantly evolving, and has slowed down his aging process, increased his X-Rounder capabilities, and is messing around with his body on a cellular level. Dirk's going to end up as Setsuna, isn't he?
>>30580507Probably not Setsuna. Going off to travel the universe with aliens would be fun for Dirk, but he'd miss human civilization and culture. I can see him uploading his mind to become Tieria, though.Honestly, I assumed MID probably detached from Dirk somewhere around the two month mark. There was only so much he could do, since he can't consciously control his adaptation, so after a while he just unscrewed from the socket and is now walking around as a robot arm freaking people out. But I would be disappointed if Dirk didn't get some enhancement out of pushing his X-Rounder abilities to the limit and recovering from it. At the very least I'd expect him to put a lot of time into trying to replicate the telekinesis he exhibited. Especially once he gets his hands on Grail crystals and can produce intense X-Wave surges without blowing out his nervous system. Telekinetic flight, shielding and attacks would be a nice end-game upgrade for when we get our AGE-FX equivalent. In the novelization the AGE-FX is capable of telepathic attacks (which explains a lot as to why everyone stopped fighting just because Kio told them they didn't have to anymore), so we might as well get some telekinesis going for its counterpart.
>>30580688God damn, and we'll have to deal with a Leviathan-raised Kio. And Zera Gins who'll probably be more active than he was in the original timeline.MID needs Dirk to live, though. He's fueled by Dirk's metabolism, and in return makes his host a nanotech cyborg. He probably can still detach himself and mess with people, but he has to come back eventually. I can't imagine how Mellis and Jake reacted to that. Or Fram, once she realized that playing with Haro means that there's a good chance a disembodied hand will jump on you in order to play as well. Our Gen-3 protag will need his own pal as well. And since it was established that the Grail crystals are sorta sentient, we could use those integrated with his Gundam to make him an AI buddy.
>>30580986Oh yeah. Hell, that's half the point of Grail crystals. The psychic effects are just a spinoff, the intent was to use the weird properties of X-waves to cheat information storage limits and make AI growth easier. The Galahad (or Lancelot, or whatever we call it) is almost certainly going to be sentient in its own right. Meanwhile Ma G, CDACE and MID will have transferred to Grail processors for improved performance. Maybe they'll help operate the ships. I'm seeing something like Tomoro from GaoGaiGar, where the core of the ship has a little floating sphere of sentient crystal interfacing with the whole thing.Hmm. Thinking of GaoGaiGar has me wondering something now: Grail crystals do weird things to information, allowing much higher storage and processing than normal. The maximum information storage of an object is limited fundamentally by thermodynamic effects. Which means Grail crystals should be able to not just store incredible amounts of information, but massive amounts of energy. Could we get rid of reactors entirely on the Gen 3 Gundam, and replace them with psy-crystal capacitors? We might be able to get equivalent energy densities and power ratings. Possibly even exceed them. The main benefit would be increased efficiency of the power systems, though, given the non-local nature of X-Waves. No power cabling, just wireless transmission of energy. Maybe even relay energy from the ship, allowing it to act as if it had a much larger reactor than any mobile suit could normally field.
>>30581188Another thought, to ask when we're finally working with them: Grail crystals are alive. Where do they get their metabolic energy from? Perhaps they already can generate power via some sort of internal fusion reaction. That would be cool, if we could get a G-Stone reactor going.
>>30581188That's probably going to be out of our reach until we hit Gen-4, though. We barely made any progress with the Grailtech - Jake just recently got an idea on how to connect those things by studying the Unicorn's psycoframe, and Dirk barely made any progress regarding nanotechnology. Though I guess we could invest in making solar-powered suits - cover the entire machine with photo-sensitive Black Raven cells, and it'd recharge on its own just by sitting around. Not to mention that could lead to creating our own Phase Shift armor as well as cloaking devices. Or even a photon weapon based on the suit itself acting as a giant solar mirror that channels absorbed energy into blasts.Actually, I was thinking of us making Daiki's new Phoenix wear as a cross between his old one the Double X - throw some energy receivers on the back of the suit, and have the Treasure Star transmit energy to it via masers or lasers. The idea was to make one giant heat sink for the TS, that accumulates and transmits thermal energy to the suit, which then fires said energy in a massive blast.
>>30581393Oh, I fully acknowledge that it's tech for the final suit, not to have right away. It'll be a while before we get there. Still pretty cool to have, if we can make it work. As for the solar suits, I was thinking something sort of similar for our next-gen armor tech, based on the Warzes' mirror shields. A bunch of tiny scales that passively absorb energy and when hit with intense concentrations re-radiate it to prevent overload. Maybe add an electromagnetic reinforcement too, like phase shift uses, and have the cells radiate the heat it would produce. That way it could protect against all weapons, though for sake of balance it would probably provide lower total defense than EM Armor to compensate for its full-spectrum coverage. And it would look awesome, too. You'd get a cool glowing shimmer going over the surface as it took fire. Combine that with our beam shields and you'll get a very visually impressive mobile suit. All light and fire and crystal. Even the MP suits would look awesome if we gave them that sort of system.
>>30581549That's one of the reasons I hope the Asuno twins are somehow alive. We're short two AGE Systems without them, and the Vagans are already popping out Ghirargas. We already have the Goliath and Warzes which basically do what we're talking about - if we could fix the issues on those two, we'd have an incredibly powerful defense system, combining an EM shielding as well as reflective and tough armor. Not to mention that the data from the Phoenix 2 could help us make the AGE-FX sooner.
>>30581683We've still got their AGE Systems. The AGE Device doesn't house the design system in this setting, we transferred it over to the Builders back in Gen 1. All we lost with their deaths(provided they did die, though Akito seems pretty likely to have been genuine) was the field data on the Amateras and Phoenix-2. Even then we still have the blueprints for them.
>>30581765Asemu survived getting his AGE-2 turned into this in a battle against SID. There's some chance that Akito made it out alive, as unlikely as it seems. Once we get back to our timeline, we should see who lead the investigation and recovery of the suits, the investigation of the battlefield, all that. We want to see reports, because whoever was in charge during the attack on Big Ring and Zarth did a horrible job. First Scarlet getting promoted out of nowhere, Solon working for the Vagans and making faulty equipment as well as allowing Vagan spies to break into Zarth, there's a lot of weird stuff going on behind the scenes.I'm guessing that in this timeline, Olfenoa got most of the families in charge to work with him as Vagan collaborators in order to save their skins. That'd explain how the hell the Vagans managed to spread their informants and agents around so much.
>>30580109>We established that Ma G and CDACE had established a family with MID as their surrogate sonWhat faggotry is this again?
