You are the PRODUCER, a former soldier hired to manage a group of teenage girls on their rise to stardom, assuming they don't get killed in the process!

Currently, you're preparing to help out one of (well, actually your only) sponsor Marc with a little problem involving a shipment of guns. Currently, you're meeting with the man himself in his shop while your girls were preparing themselves. Meanwhile, Jenner was overseeing Rin, who was training with Ushiyama and David for her "image song".

"Ha! Glad to see that you're willing to help!" Marc chortles. "Can't seem to trust anyone these days, you know?"

(Buckle up Anons, this is going to be a long one.)
Senetor Stampingston: Gentlemen, it appears that our worst fears have come true. Clover Entertainment and their idols are getting even stronger. General Crozier, would you please report your findings?

(1/4)
>>
>>30576854
Crozier: Clover's last performance, our surveillance team was monitoring their Harbinger comms. network via the MasterKey Program installed in every Harbinger Unit produced. When the Producer began eavesdropping, Cole somehow "jammed" the signal. This is a feat unheard of in military intelligence, and proves that her powers are evolving beyond our predictions. Should news of Harbinger's jamming be known, the world's armed forces will start to question the integrity of their Units and start looking for alternatives. This can lead to devastating consequences as one of our biggest sources of income is the production of Harbingers.

In light of Cole's increasing skill as an idol and fighter, the other girls have noticed her growth, and begun to train harder and learn new skills to surpass her.

What's worse is the fact that our MasterKey no longer works on Clover's unit as the Producer "accidentally" spilled coffee on the part that houses the Black Box, containing our surveillance equipment. This once again demonstrates that he is a tactical genius posing as an idiot.

Mr. Selatcia: Good. When Blacklight is finished with them, the Clover Idols will be strong enough to provide a more "permanent" solution.

"Okay, first of all, who exactly are we dealing with here, and what exactly did they steal from you?" You ask, narrowing your eyes. "If we're going to be helping you, I expect you to at least be honest with us."

Marc blinks and then sighs.

"The goods that were stolen from me were the... 'less than legal' kind. Mainly military grade weaponry, with a few choice prototype bits. One of my contacts managed to 'lose' the shipment. Unfortunately, it got intercepted."

"By who?" You ask again.

"Erm... a bunch of crazy eco-terrorist types. Never really liked dealing with groups like them."

"Really?" You blink. "Out of moral obligation?"

"Hell no! They don't have money to pay me!" Marc grunts. "And if I have one moral standard it's that I never deal in credit!"

"Okay, so how bad are these guys?" You sigh.

"They've been around the block. Firebombed a few gene clinics, raided Umbrella facilities, stuff like that. They're not exactly trained fighters, but they're dedicated to their cause."

"If they weren't trained, how did they take out your mercs?"

"You get what you pay for." Marc shrugs. "I just pulled some guys out of the Home Depot parking lot. Figured it was worth a shot."

You have no words to respond to that.

"Anyways, like I promised, I'll loan you this underslung grenade launcher, with three high explosive shells." Marc says, pointing to a small box on the counter. "It should be compatible with your M55."

"I do have a concern, though." You frown. "What if they try to use the weapons against us?"

"Oh, don't worry about that!" Marc shakes his head. "I'm always careful when it comes to my merchandise! The cargo is kept in sealed crates protected with encrypted locks. It'll take some time for them to crack them open."

"I see." You nod.

On the drive back to the office, you ping K-Zwolf through your Harbinger connection. You had him recon the area just to be safe.

"K-Zwolf, report."

"AT LEAST EIGHT HOSTILES CONFIRMED. LIGHTLY ARMED WITH HANDGUNS AND SUBMACHINE GUNS. HAVE IDENTIFIED THREE POTENTIAL POINTS OF ENTRY."

You then see a holographic display of the warehouse with three dots glowing at said points. You see that there was one point on the roof, one at the back door, and another at what looked to be a secondary loading dock.

"TACTICAL SUGGESTION. BREACH ALL ENTRY POINTS AT ONCE FOR MAXIMUM EFFECT."

Well, there were pros and cons to that. Generally, it was the best strategy to assault a building, but you simply didn't have the numbers. It'd be safer to keep all the girls together and focus on one point of entry, but then that meant the defenders could focus all their efforts on that one area...

Have K-Zwolf place frag grenade clusters made by Fenn at Entries 1, 2, and 3. Detonate them at once, and have all 3 girls assault through 1 entry point.

But we want it to look like all three entry points are being breached, and frags to blow open holes at the entry points will make the deception more likely to succeed.
We can still trap the escape routes with remote detonated frag traps, too.

"TACTICAL CHOICE APPEARS ACCEPTABLE."

"Alright, come on back, K-Zwolf."

Now all you need to figure out is which door to enter through. The back door was probably the easiest, but also the most obvious. No doubt it would be the most heavily guarded of the three. For the loading dock, you'd have to get those big heavy doors open, and there weren't many ways to do that quietly. The roof was probably the least guarded, but the problem was actually getting up there undetected.

You determine that the best entrance would be through the roof. Now, the only problem would be actually getting up there. You take another look at the recon data K-Zwolf collected. There's definitely a ladder, but it's behind a locked fence. Picking the lock would be time consuming, and cutting open the lock or fence might noise. You also notice there's a construction crane sitting up against the wall of the warehouse. It would be feasible to climb up it, but it was a bit dangerous looking.

You resolve to pick the lock or something like. You're sure at least Julie or Cole would know how to do it. Cyberhounds definitely could do it if needed, as well.

You finally return to the office, where you immediately go to check on your girls. Sure enough, Rochelle, Julie, and Cole were down in the armory getting ready, with Falynn making sure all their equipment was in order.

"All right girls, I come bearing gifts!" You say, handing out your newly purchased items. "A shield for Julie and a rifle for Cole!"

"Thank you, Producer!" Julie beams.

"Thanks, I guess?" Cole frowns as she looks at the AK-74. "It looks like a piece of junk."

You were tempted to tell her that it WAS a piece of junk, but hold it in.

"Okay girls, you all know what our next mission is, right? We're going to help out our friend Marc by recovering his guns. Now, unlike the prom, this is a full combat mission. This means it's very likely, and your expected, the use lethal force. Do all of you understand that?"

"Yes, Producer!" They all respond.

You glance at their vitals just to make sure. Julie and Cole were perfectly calm. Not surprising. Being from the Tombs has probably prepared them for a LOT. What concerned you though were Rochelle's readings. Her heartbeat was spiking You guess that coming from a more normal upbringing, she's not quite used to idea of killing.

"Rochelle, are you okay?" You ask.

"Yes sir!" She says quickly. "I'm perfectly fine!"

Her vitals tell a different story, as her heart rate spikes again.

"Julie, Cole, why don't you test out that near gear? Break it in." You say, trying to distract them so you can get a private moment with Rochelle. The moment they turn away, you turn to Rochelle.

"Rochelle, is something wrong?" You ask.

"No sir." She says.

"There's no need to lie, Rochelle. I'm your Producer. It's my JOB to help you." You sigh. "Now what's the matter?"

"I... I'm not sure if I can actually KILL someone." Rochelle frowns. "I mean, I hear you and my dad talk about it all the time. Julie and Cole also seem to boast about killing at least a guy or two. I just feel... I don't know. Afraid? Anxious? Will I be able to do it? Will it change me?"

Pragmatically, its better that she gets her murder-cherry popped sooner, rather than later. It gives us time to evaluate and figure out how to deal with any issues she may develop whilst we've still got time.

This mission is nice because we explicitly are going to kill some people, so she can go into the situation at least somewhat mentally prepared for that possibility. Better now, when we are aiming to do it deliberately, than later if she accidentally goes too far with other methods.

Might even be a good bonding point to share with Cole and Julie.

Have her help with coordination and planning.

She's fortunate. She hasn't had the necessity of needing to take a life. It's easier for the others because they've done it before, or have been in bad circumstances. Quite honestly, I'd prefer NOT to send the small girl into a warzone when she doesn't want to be there. Having her in a command position? She'll want to plan things the best they can, because it will save her friends lives, and the detachment will help her remain sane for the idol business.

"Y-yeah, I know that in my head, but every time I think about it..."

"Rochelle, you know what I learned? On my first day out in Kurdistan, I was just any other Fuckin' New Guy. Young, green, and totally ignorant. One day, like an idiot, I go out perimeter patrol by myself. Suddenly, I'm jumped by a militant."

"What did you do?" Rochelle asks.

"Well, I had a chance to shoot him, but I froze up in fear." You sigh. "That gave him enough time to tackle me and we were both struggling for the weapon. My mind was racing, my heart was beating, and I wasn't thinking clearly. And then.... and then it all just came together."

"Huh?"

"At one point in that struggle, my mind just seemed to stop, and there was only one thought my head. I was just thinking 'this motherfucking is ruining my day and I have to do something about it.' And then, everything became clear. I let him take my rifle and I pushed him back. Drew my pistol and put three shots center mass without a second thought."

"H-how did you do it?" Rochelle's eyes widen as she leans in closer.

"Well, I guess on that day, I learned something important." You shrug. "Danger is real, but fear is an ILLUSION. It's merely our anxiety over things that have not, and may NEVER, happen. Keep your mind focused on the present. You have a mission to complete. You have friends to protect. As long as you remember that you can do anything. That help?"

"Yeah. I actually helps a lot." Rochelle grins and nods. "Thanks, sir."

"No problem-"

Rather than her usual salute, Rochelle hugs you. Caught off guard, you can only sputter a bit as you try to regain your composure.

"I'm good to go, sir." Rochelle smiles.

Suddenly, your phone beeps. You take it out and see that you got a text from JENNER.

"Be sure to tune in." Jenner grins.

With that done, you head back down to the workshop. At this point, Rochelle, Julie, and Cole have all been geared up, and they are donning their combat armor and weapons. Falynn pats them all down for a final equipment check.

"Sure thing!" Falynn grins.

With K-Zwolf ready to go with his shiny new missile launchers and heavy machine gun, everybody loads up in the van. Falynn gives you all a wave as you drive off.

The warehouse was quite a distance away, considering it was all the way in District Seven. Very quickly, the cityscape began to give way to countless factories, warehouses, and other industrial buildings. You park the van some distance away from the target area.

"Okay girls, it's go time. Remember what I taught you, and I'll be keeping an eye on you. All right?"

Your girls nod and pile out of the van, with K-Zwolf following close behind. Keeping an eye through Harbinger, you see the girls silently approaching the warehouse. Fortunately, the thieves don't really have any mobile patrols set up. They're all concentrated at the main entrance.

K-Zwolf moves up and quietly begins to pick the lock to the ladder.

What are you on about.

I mean they may have already cracked the weapons boxes and retrieved the weapons to use against our girls.

This isn't the first time we've been offered this mission and the likelihood of them having opened a few is significantly higher.

Heavy support can help kill them faster but close protection can save our girls if they get surprised but its a moot point now.

And just like that, the lock silently clicks open. Your girls quietly climb up one by one, with K-Zwolf covering them. Once all the girls are clear, K-Zwolf begins to climb the ladder itself, though it's slightly hampered due to its extra weight. Finally, it makes its way up to the roof of the building and regroups with the girls.

"Yo, Producer." Cole whispers. "I found the fuse box to the place. If I fry it, we can shut down power to the whole building."

While that was tempting, your girls didn't have proper nightvision gear. K-Zwofl had special optics so it wouldn't be inconvenienced. On the other hand, you're sure the thieves would be more confused by the power outage.

>YOU NOW HAVE 3 STAR POWER POINTS

The girls drop down into what looks like an administrative office. You see that there are three men inside, who are completely unprepared for the forced entry. They try to reach for their guns, but it's too late. Julie bum rushes the closest enemy, swinging her riot shield out and impacting it against his head with a sickening CRUNCH. Cole closes with the second man and gives him a powerful lightning punch so fierce he literally catches fire. The third man is taken down by a burst from Rochelle's M66.

And just like that, the room is cleared.

"I... I did it...." You hear Rochelle mumble.

"What was that?" Julie turns her head.

"N-nothing!" Rochelle shakes her head. "What have we got?"

"Nothing special about these guys. No augs or biomods. They're also only packing basic guns."

That seems to corroborate Marc's story that these guys were amateurs.

"I have a visual on the cargo." Rochelle says as she peeks out the window of the office. There, sitting among various stored goods are a row of silver crates. "Looks like it's still intact."

Both Rochelle and K-Zwolf fire their weapons, sweeping the ground floor with automatic fire. You can see and hear men screaming as they dive for cover in an effort to find shelter from the assault. One man isn't quite so lucky, and is ripped to shreds by K-Zwolf's HMG. Most of the rest of the thieves dive into cover and stay there, while a few try to return fire, spraying the office. One bullet punches through the wall and strikes Rochelle in the chest, causing her to stumble for a bit. You quickly check her vitals and are relieved to see that they're still stable."

"Rochelle, you okay?" You ask.

"Just winded. Didn't even penetrate the vest." Rochelle sighs, brushing away at her vest.

"Hey, Producer, me and Juile are in position." You hear Cole hiss. "You want us to take out the shooters or the guys hiding in cover?"

Taking out the shooters meant taking pressure off Rochelle and K-Zwolf, but that would mean leaving Cole and Julie open to potential counterattack by the men taking cover.

But...why would you want it?

Joule for joule, dollar for dollar, the railgun doesn't make a lot of sense when you compare its opportunity cost to any potential value.

You can already get HE rounds, you can already get SLAP rounds for a/the machine gun.

Dude, I wanted us to go with the 3000 dollars. Then we could by smaller versions of both of these, or other stuff.

I mean, a tank-size railgun is nice and all, but useless if we can't set it up beforehand or can't fit it somewhere. Compare that to a smaller one, which will pack enough punch anyway, but will also be less of a pain to lug around and easier for Cole to power. Which sounds better?

Hm, the Oracle looks nice." You say, picking it up.

"Ah! I figured you might choose that!" Marc chortles. "Any other time I would've charged you 5-6k for that! Enjoy it!"

With that, Marc gets into his truck and prepares to drive off.

"Oh right, and you'd better get going before the police arrive! Their response time is garbage, but you still don't want to be here when they finally come!"

"Thanks." You nod. "Come on, girls."

"Whoa, is that a new piece of gear?" Rochelle's eyes widen. "That thing looks so cool! Can I try it on?"

"Sure." You shrug and hand the Oracle to Rochelle. She puts it on and you have to keep from sniggering. It looks like she's wearing monocle.

"How does it look?" She asks.

"Stupid." Cole laughs.

"It does look really silly." Julie snickers as well.

"Sir?" Rochelle turns to you.

"If you want my opinion, I don't think the designers really thought things through." You say, trying suppress the urge to laugh.

"Well... maybe Falynn can do something about that." Rochelle sighs as she takes the Oracle off and hands it back to you."

"I suppose." You nod. Now you just have to figure out who to give it to.

Eh, you'll figure it out later. Might as well give it to Falynn to tinker with first. Maybe she can make it not look so stupid, too.

On the drive back, Cole and Julie are continually bragging about what they supposedly did or didn't do during the battle in an effort to one up each other. Rochelle, however, seems extremely quiet, as if contemplating something. You should probably talk to her or direct her Lillith after this.

Then you remember that Rin's radio interview is supposed to be on right about now. You quickly activate the van's radio.

"And so can you tell us more about Clover Entertainment?" You hear the interviewer say. Damn, you missed part of it already!

"Ah, well," You hear Rin's voice speaking. "We're still a rather small idol company, but we're starting to claw our way up there. Us being on this radio show is proof of that!"

"I don't doubt you there!" The interviewing chuckles. "How about your fellow idols? How do you feel about them?"

"They're a silly, crazy, slightly violent bunch but... I love them all like sisters regardless. They all look out for me so I have to make sure that I do my best, too!" Rin says happily.

"Well said, well said. It looks like time's up. You have any last words for the audience?"

"Please support Clover Entertainment!" Rin says, injecting as much cuteness into her voice as possible. "You won't regret it!"

(Cont)
>>
>>30583645

With that, the radio cuts to commercial and you shut it off. You can't help but grin at how endearing Rin was on air. You adjust the mirror to see the girls' reactions, but you see they've all fallen asleep. You just smile and shake your head.

By the time you return to the office, it's already fairly late. You wake up the girls and they groggily and reluctantly pile out of the van and strip out of their combat gear, leaving it lying all over the ground. You'd normally chastise them for this, but you decide to let it go for now.

"Busy day?" Jenner asks.

"Very." You sigh. "How about you?"

"Went about as good as it could." Jenner nods. "Got $2000 for our trouble."

"I got a fancy monocle."

"I heard monocles are stylish these days." Jenner grins. "Going to keep working or are you going to turn in for the night."

"Well," you sigh. "Sometimes, it feels like I remember every single person I've killed, and I've ended up killing a LOT of people during my time in the army."

"I see." Rochelle sighs. "So how do you deal with it?"

"Look, Rochelle, there are some you can forget, once you've made your peace. Others, you just can't forget ever. Like your first kill, and those you didn't want to kill."

"It's just...." Rochelle scrunches up even tighter. "Every time I close my eyes. Every time I blink, I see that guy's face right when I killed him. It's just burned into my memory."

"Like I said, nobody forgets their first." You sigh. "You know, if you ever get the chance, you should talk to your father about it. I'm sure he can tell it better than me."

"Maybe..."

"If it's any consolation, it gets easier after that." You say. "Yes, I know it sounds callous, but it's life or death out there, moral concerns become the least of your worries. You're a strong kid. I know you can pull through."

"I'll try, sir." Rochelle nods.

"Like I said, it's part of my job." You chuckle. "Better go get some sleep. We've got more training tomorrow."

"There's ALWAYS more training." Rochelle pouts.

"Gotta be prepared, you know." You laugh. "Now go on!"
