Previously: In the quaint little town of Pahrump Asher & Co. cloth themselves and settle in for a rest from the trials of the desert as they gather information for a “performance” scheduled Sunday.

A library visit yields little due to a lack of identification in the face of recently restricted materials. Disinterested in making a scene, Asher lets the whole thing go. Instead finding himself preoccupied with reading books for Eshe.
Despite the kind gesture, the immaterial Fara does take some offense to the whole thing.

Back at a rented motel room; Asher shares a moment with Eshe. He learns more about her and how she views him, primarily as a responsibility, and summons a small Hydra thoughtform to assist him in the future.

The contract? Service for power.

With the rest of the party returning in the evening, they hit the sack with a new morning buzzing. Time to scout, prepare and unearth whatever else can be squeezed from this town. The five of them against America.

It is Currently July 2nd, a Wednesday.

>Objectives
Primary:
>Create a noticeable scene in LA that the entire city would take note of.

Side objectives:
>Drown a preacher before his congregation while praising Asherah's name.
>Forcibly grant others the power of Magic for Lucifer.

Also, you should probably add whatever level the summons are at. I think Fara is at 4 and the Ravens at 1 or 2? The Hydra would be at a 2 I guess?
>>
>>30639476
Noted, fixing.
>>
>>30639514
Some quick clarification on the contract would be helpful. Does the way we desacribed the power thing as being "like Fara" obligate us to raise the Hydra up to 4 when we eventually have him do something? Or does it only require us to channel some energy into him?
>>
>>30639597
>Or does it only require us to channel some energy into him?
Thus. It demands more power than usual so that it may keep some for itself.
>>
So uh.. what's going on
>>
Breakfast at a Denny's rolls by smoothly. Everyone save for Eshe is glad to be back in civilization. Though Eshe tries to gravitate the topic to what comes next. Either moving on or going to Church Sunday.

“We need to progress here. We run short on time for this.” She says as she puts a whole silver dollar pancake in her mouth, slathered in blueberry syrup.

The Diner's rather empty with how early to rise you all are, and your section today is actually pretty much devoid of other customers. While the hostess eyed you all warily, she didn't protest all that much to your isolated seating. Outside it's another hot and dry summer day with the aurora flowing through the sky as it has been for the past year.

“I just don't see why it needs to be a church. That doesn't seem right to me. I thought this was all about fighting the government and freeing ourselves. Why do we need to hurt people in the middle of a service?” Aerin scowls at you from across the table for a moment before she fixes her face by throwing back some water and sating herself with a couple slices of bacon.

You raise a hand, shaking your head slowly,”Hey, hey. We'll need to awaken others eventually as followers. Why not get some practice? They'll thank us for it anyway once they realize how incredible it is.”

Aerin points a finger at you like a dagger, gearing up to say something before Eshe's stare drives her to silence, and rightfully sinking back into her spot in the booth.

Hot Rod shrugs as he sinks his teeth into a morning burger,”I dom' ge' wry i's suh a ba eel.” He swallows, drinking down a glass of OJ.
“I mean, sure the man upstairs'd be pissed but friend would be cool with it, right? What's gonna happen when war finds this place like the guy said anyway?”
>>
I never expected Aerin would be the problem for us. I always thought it was going to be Helia.
>>
>>30640106
>Helia
No, Helia is the meek loser who wants our dick. We can basically do whatever we want and she'll have no objections.
>>
>>30640106
Well sometimes unexpected shit happens. The Followers did give Helia cool magic and some backbone. Aerin seems to think it's just about fighting "The Man".
>>
Eshe comes in here,”They would perish without knowing what is going on. You may not like it, but it is also a chance that we are giving them. You would have them be victims to ignorance?” Eshe's eyes study Aerin even as the woman's mouth droops a bit. She seems to be slowly coming to realize two things: That Eshe and the followers are completely sincere in this whole mess, and that she lacks conviction.
At least, that's what you gather from her expression as you idly sip at some water,”If not here, then when we get to Vegas.” You say as you take Eshe's gaze,”How do you awaken people anyway? What's the trick to-”

You clam up as the waitress comes by to check up on all of you, refill water, ask if you need anything else. She's got a pretty face. A little button nose, thin lips made fuller by lipstick and a warm personality for her profession along with silky hair tied into a ponytail that falls over her shoulder.

You can't help but smile a bit. Might not be so bad if you could awaken a chick with better tits than Aerin to follow you around. You're just about getting sick of her mouth contradicting you at every turn.
The Waitress walks away looking a little spooked.

“Dude.”
“What?”You look at Hot Rod.
“Dibs.” He smiles, his eyes chasing the waitress's ass.
Aerin groans at the testosterone at the table,”So, what Asher was talking about. Awakening. How do we do it?”

Eshe explains through the rest of breakfast how the Followers do it.
“First. You show them something that they cannot believe. Something that shakes their understanding of the world.
Second. You must begin taking something from them and assure them that it will happen if they do not stop you. Their life is the best choice for this. Most people value their own lives.
If they pray to god, whichever one that they do, you must let them know that god will not save them.
When these conditions are met the person may awaken.”
>>
Helia bites at her lip, sinking a bit in her seat. “So even if we do that... They still might not awaken?”

“It is why we have casualties. Those that do not awaken are mourned by us. It is known that there is so much potential within a person. It is our own failure if we do not draw it out.”

“That's pretty heavy...” Hot Rod lowers his head with his tongue in his cheek. Kid doesn't really know what more to say.

“So we risk their lives and they still might not be able to save themselves...” Aerin grits her teeth, avoiding Eshe's stoic and baleful glare.

“We do what we must for the good of all people. That is the conviction we must have.”

What do you think of this Asher?

Everybody.

yes yes yes
>>
>>30640348
>[X] “If they're weak, ignorant, and can't help themselves then why sweat the small things? Everyone gets a chance.”

Just put an emphasis on the word chance. At least they are gonna have a chance. Better chance than most people have. I wouldn't mind practicing though
>>
>>30640348
>>[] “I'd like to start practicing before Sunday.”
>>30640600
We can go to that slut house and torture some people there.
>>
>>30640348
Is this a choice purely for Asher's personal thoughts or is he about to say this shit out loud?

Because if it's the former, go with
>[] “If they're weak, ignorant, and can't help themselves then why sweat the small things? Everyone gets a chance.”

But if it's the latter, go with
>[] “I'll just have to be better at awakening than most followers. Then no one will need to fail.”
>>
>>30640348
>[] “If they're weak, ignorant, and can't help themselves then why sweat the small things? Everyone gets a chance.”

"If we don't do this then one day they will find themselves caught up in events beyond their understanding.

The more we Awaken now instead of later the greater the chance humanity as a whole will to survive the coming storm and rebuild."
>>
>>30640600
Less public places. One on one encounters to awaken. One major event in this town will put the alert to high.

>>30640647

>>
>>30640670
In that case, think the everyone gets a chance option but say the no one needs to fail option. We've been over the "Asher can be an asshole without making it blatantly obvious to everyone" thing before.

>He's saying them aloud.
Yeeaaaahhh... Might wanna be more clear on votes in the future. You've done the personal thoughts things before so I thought it was that again.

Can we not go with the one that's certain to piss off half our group? Eshe was just going on about how the Followers feel that everyone has the potential and it's the awakener's fault if the awakenee doesn't awaken.

>>30640348
[x] “We'll just have to be better at awakening than most followers. Then no one will need to fail.”
Make sure to change it to "We" instead of "I" to emphasize that we're all in this together. More of that psychological mumbo.
>>
>>30640670
Oh and disregard my vote >>30640600
I don't want to say that. Deleting it.

“Everyone gets a *chance.*” You speak aloud, yet not loudly. This draws the attention of the others as they pick up their heads. Hot Rod seems unsure, Helia has a spark in her eyes, and Aerin looks like she's finally wearing down but could still find it in her to throttle you.
“If we don't do this then one day they'll get caught up in events beyond their understanding. They'll be blindsided like we were in San Diego. If you could've been warned or even awakened before that took place don't you think you'd have been better off?” You direct this at Aerin, a question but more of a statement as you carry through without her input.
“The more we awaken now, instead of later, the greater chance that they'll have when war comes, and the better we'll be at performing the act.”

“We need to be good at this so we can bring out the strength of people.” You force a smile from forming. Now's not the time to smile. They'll catch on.

You stare down Aerin with your one-eyed gaze while Helia claps a little before realizing it's out of place.”I agree with Asher.” Helia smiles to you, her eyes bearing a sort of dreamy haze.
“It's good for them. We're doing good for them. Even if they hate us, it's the right thing.”

Aerin concedes,”I guess... So. If we're going to practice, then where at? Who on?”

You have some ideas...

>[] You saw an add for a Spa/Resort/Brothel called Sheri's ranch. Some one on one time would be perfect.
>[] Grab people off the streets. Do it dirty in the alley.
>[] “We can start right now.” Look at the Waitress.

>[] A hospital, we could save some lives.

>>[] You saw an add for a Spa/Resort/Brothel called Sheri's ranch. Some one on one time would be perfect.
Here we go. Time for awakenings! And don't get distracted by skanky whores.
>>
>>30641065
>[] A hospital, we could save some lives.
I can see the possibility of getting a healer with this and it tempts me. Dran did say they exist, they're just rare.

But I think I'd rather just go with
>[x] Grab people off the streets. Do it dirty in the alley.
>>
>>30641065
Oh maaaaaan... this is a hard choice.
>[] “We can start right now.” Look at the Waitress.
I guess if we're gonna do it, it might as well be with he cute waitress. It's quick, easy, safe, and if we succeed, we have an attractive minion. If we fail, no big deal, we can just try again with someone else.
>>
>>30641254
Even if we succeed, she might decide to follow the path of blood instead of being our minion. So there's that.

But I think I mostly agree.
>>30641065
>[] “We can start right now.” Look at the Waitress.
>>
>>30641141
Why would us doing it in a hospital help us get a healer? It's not like a hospital is going to infuse them with healing magic. That said, I hope we do get a healer at some point, hopefully they can fix this eye... though it's probably too late.

>>30641307
Whether or not she takes the path of blood depends on what we do to her. If she just loses an eye, but gains magical powers, and we don't have to murder her entire city to do it, she should be happy.

If we drown her family to awaken her, I see your point.
>>
>>30641065
> Waitress.
The others seem like more of a risk of getting caught. I want the church plan to go off without a hitch.
>>
>>30641356
>Why would us doing it in a hospital help us get a healer?
What you were before awakening influences your magic. Asher was a student that really liked mythology, and that got him summoning.
The spending the LIMIT point to learn from Faraji got retconned.

A doctor or nurse that genuinely wants to help people would have a higher chance of getting healing. At least, that's how it seems to me.
>>
>>30641356
>That said, I hope we do get a healer at some point, hopefully they can fix this eye... though it's probably too late.
We could summon one. I'm sure that there's some mythological something that can heal things.
>>
>>30641884
>I'm sure that there's some mythological something that can heal things.
Many
>>
>>30641884
Doesn't even have to be mythological. We could make a thoughtform not-angel healbot that we charge up and contract with to heal us whenever we get injured.

I kinda wish we'd done that instead of the hydra.
>>
“We can start right now.” Your eye wanders back to the waitress as she leans against the counter in her black logo'd uniform.

Hot Rod's the first to follow,”Dude, I called dibs.” He shoes Aerin out of the stall, even as she tries to object. Eshe lets you out as you chuckle at Hot Rod's eagerness.
Eshe whispers into your ear,”I'll leave you to it. Too many will draw attention.”

“Alright then, see you in a bit.”

Before you can make it across to the waitress Hot Rod's already hitting on her. She's rolling her eyes already.
“Aw, come on babe. When do you get off work? Lemme get yer number, I'll call you later. How's that sound?”

“No, sorry. You look a little too young for me.” She puts a hand up as Hot Rod carries on.

“Come on, you know you want a bit of this guy,” He gives himself a thumbs up in a point.

She starts protesting again and you decide this is the time to cut in,” Hey, sorry my kid brother's bothering you. Jason, leave her alone, alright?”

Hot Rod chuckles, putting his hands out,” Hold up, hold up. A'ight. Yeah, she's too good f' me.” He backs off a bit,”Hey, maybe another time?”

The Waitress shakes her head, clearly not amused as she rolls her eyes up.
“Jason, get outta here man.”

“A'ight, I'm goin', I'm goin'.” Hunter passes beside you, moving you outta the way,”Owe me, dawg.” He whispers as he slides past.

“Hey, sorry about that... He didn't bother you too much, did he?” You try to smooth things over. The Waitress stares at your eye, looking a way for a moment awkwardly.
>>
“I, well, I'm alright. I get punks like those all the time. You didn't bet him or anything, did you?”

It's your turn to raise a hand,”Woah, woah. No, not anything like that. He just got up and I saw him getting on over here. All I could think was 'I'm gonna have to stop this kid before he gets thrown out.' I'm a goddamn psychic or something, right?” You give her an affable smile as you study her. She's relaxed a bit, still a bit guarded in her posture. She's smiling now though so that's a good thing. She keeps stealing glances at your face.

“Yeah, I guess you are. You read minds or tell the future?”

>>
“Actually, truth be told I commune with spirits... If I had a glass of water or something I could ask one to freeze it.” You try to come across as half-joking to see how well she picks up on it or even humor you.

She crosses her arms,”That's bullshit. You're shitting me, really?”

“Tsk, tsk,” You shake your head.”Shit you not, swear it honest to god.” You can't help but wear a bit of a shit eating smile on that one.

“Show me.” She walks off and grabs a pitcher from behind the counter, pours a glass and hands it to you.

You stare at the cup in your hands, visibly contemplating,”I can't just let anyone see. How about we do this closer to the restroom?” Your eye leads to the back. If you put her out of sight from the others you'll be able to manage this.

“Why? Are the spirits more active there?” She waves a hand in the air, a teasing smile upon her face.

You play it off,”Yes actually, they like their privacy.” You walk on over to the restroom, getting just before the dip around into woman's or men's. You look back and drink the water a little as you wait for her to make up her mind,
After some delay she finally comes over after you raise your glass in invitation.

“Alright, are you serious?” Really serious?” She eyes you again, while you wear a rather calm expression with neutral demeanor.

You start pouring out the glass. Her eyes go wide at your sudden action and you utter one word. “Fara.”
>>
The water freezes mid-fall, still attached to the cup and the waitress almost screams in surprise. The water curls into a hand and swats itself over the woman's mouth and pushes her into the woman's restroom with little more than an extremely muffled scream.
You casually walk in behind her after casting a glance to your table. Aerin looks a bit pissed, but she's the only one. The five of you won't be able to come back after this.

You push through the door as the door comes back from Fara's force and immediately start running water from the sinks, drawing it onto the floor for use at your leisure.

[Kill-her?] The hydra whispers, yet you reply with a simple no.

Fara holds the woman to the wall, she stares at her own reflection in the mirror for a moment, suddenly growing increasingly terrified by this disembodied hand of ice and water.

>[] Restrain her properly, on the ground.
>[] Begin now. Have Fara start clawing into her face.

Materia Firma is perfect for Awakenings.

Run water all over her body in a pattern. Something intricate and magicy looking. Then have the water solidify without freezing and heat up to white-hot-steel temperatures.

It will make patterned burn scars all over her.
>>
>>30642811
>>[] Restrain her properly, on the ground.
I've been waiting for this

This >>30642892
An intricate brand would be pretty sweet. Plus, she'll be able to show her face in public if she survives, unlike the Fara clawing business.
>>
>>30642811
>[] Restrain her properly, on the ground.
And after we do that, we shouldn't do anything to horrid to her body, because, in my opinion, ruining a cute women's body just seems profane as hell. Let's try to do as little really noticeable damage as possible, like removing the fingers on her left hand or something. Brutal, but not a total butchery.
>>30642892
As long as it isn't on her face, maybe give her a pattern on just her stomach, back, or shoulders.
>>
>>30642892
Oh and make sure to tell her that she needs to be strong to overcome this and make it stop, blah blah blah.

At the church, this method will be highly effective if we include DCLXVI (666) in the patterns. It will make the people fear not just for their lives, but their souls. Or something. Not sure if I actually want to do the 666 thing, because that would make them almost guaranteed for path of blood, but it would also probably guarantee more awakenings.

I can agree to that. At first at least. If she doesn't awaken from having every part of her burned from the neck down, I think we might have to move on to the face...
Though she might just die from shock at that point.
>>
>[] A personal touch is required. Let's boil the water in her body

I prefer this option, mostly because it doesn't ruin her pretty face. minimal scaring may be something she appreciates later.

>[] A personal touch is required. Let's boil the water in her body.

Does the waitress have a nametag? Because calling her by name seems appropriate in the circumstances.

"I'm sorry [NAME], I lied to you. I don't just commune with spirits, I also control water. Most of your blood is water, I wonder what will happen to you if I boil it.

This is going to hurt, and if you do not stop me you will die. But one day you will thank me for this.

Shall we get started?"
>>
>>30643169
I should've specified. It'll boil the water in fatty layers of her flesh, not her blood.
>>
>>30642811
>[] A personal touch is required. Let's boil the water in her body.

this is awesome plus no external damage
>>
>>30643195
>>30643209
>>30642951
>>30643144
We can just avoid her face with the other methods.

But you guys forgot to consider something. What if she awakens as a Bone?

We have to directly touch her to boil her blood. Being that close opens us up to damage if she's a melee brawler right out the gate. Asher may have magic, but he's still a squishy human. And newbie bones can hurt a squishy human if they get their hands on them.
>>
>>30643169
If we're careful, she should be fine.

Something we may have to take note of, is that if she does awaken, she may lash out at us like an animal in distress.
>>
>>30643238
Fara. We'd be fine.
>>
>>30643238
Vs a novice bone? We'll be fine, she'll be in pain and too disoriented to fight effectively.
>>
>>30643238
She won't be in a condition to fight straight away. Worst comes to worst, we can have the hydra nibble on her.
>>
>>30643238
If you're really worried we can get some Ice restraints on her, it'll buy us at least enough time to sic Fara or the Hydra on her, or just incapacitate her with Water.
>>
>>30643268
>>30643274
>>30643276
We'll be point blank. All it will take is for her to swing a hand at us and smash our face in. Or break our arm.

Once that happens, our summons will kill her, but Asher will still be injured for no reason.
>>
>>30643309
We can obviously touch her from a position she can't easily swing from.
>>
>>30643309
She's not going to instantly be in a position for that. She'll be agonizing, disoriented, and ignorant.
>>
>>30643274
You're underestimating just how dangerous new mages can be. I know this is metagamey, but it's just an example: Back in the first Overhuman Quest, the mc's mom got awakened and immediately exploded a half-dozen cars.
>>
>>30643360
Yeah, that's too metagamey. Asher wasn't able to do anything after losing his eye and awakening, there's no reason he should expect another person to be any different.
>>
>>30643400
I think Asher just knew he would die if he tried, even if he did manage to do some damage.
>>
>>30643474
Let's not turn this into a ridiculous cautionfest because there's like a 1% chance she does something immediately AND gets a lucky hit in. Acutal battles are way more dangerous than this and we go into those no problem. This is rote, lets just do it.

With a wave of your hand you cast the water of the floor onto her body. In part, some of it is taken as an extra hand for Fara. She moves the new appendage down to restrain the waitress's other arm and force her down into a sitting position.

You harden the water and pull her other arm down while keeping her head up so that she can see you.
Her eyes relay a primal fear, like a doe in the headlights.
“I'm sorry if it seems like I lied to you.” You run the water again, this time washing your hands as you look at her in the mirror with your one eye. “I don't just commune with spirits. I also control water. You see, it suits me. A force of destruction and creation depending on its mood.” You shut the water off and stride over to her with hard rubber splashing against the wet tiles. You bought good boots for if you had to walk across a desert again.

Squatting down beside her versus kneeling and getting yourself needlessly wet, you motion for one of her hands to be forced up in her watery bonds and placed in your own even as she tries to claw your flesh with her nails. You adjust your hand over her palm with the other upon the wrist.
“This is going to hurt, and I'm going to have to ask you to stop me or you are going to die.” You lean over, peeking at her nametag. “Cassie.” You smile, and gently caress her hand as you stare into her eyes.

As she stares back into yours with helpless tears beading up within you begin. Magic is poured into her skin, and you heat the moisture to the point of steaming, forcing little bubbles to pop up along her hand.
Her back arches forcefully, beating her head against the wall as a scream is muffled by Fara's watery hand.
Cassie's hand trembles in both fear and pain and you begin speaking whether she can hear you right now or not.

>"It is time for you to pay the price of knowledge with your body, to be born again into this world."

>"You will begin to understand your purpose here. Upon this planet, upon the green earth that we walk upon. Yet you shall lose half of your light. I see it, this shall be your cause for awakening. You will find an answer in time for why I must do this to you.

You grit your teeth at her agony. It's honestly just a little painful to watch as you let up for a moment only to readjust the placement of your fingers further up her arm.
“If you do not stop me you will die. Anyone that you knew will mourn you.” You whisper to her gently as you resume the torture, boiling out another splotch of her skin at the wrist.

“Magic has existed since December 21st 2012...”You begin a speech that you'd entertained over and over again in your mind during your time in the desert. You knew that you'd need to do this someday.
“But those in power would keep you ignorant of it and what's to come. They would allow you to remain weak and die like a blown out candle.”

You move up to another spot upon her arm as you see yellow mixing in with the water on the floor. Her arm's trembling in pain, her eyes glazing over and tears running her mascara down her face.

You wonder what you must've looked like when that man gouged out your eye. Did you have this look of fear and helplessness? Did you have more resolve? Were you this pathetic?
It kind of pisses you off.

You trace a line the rest of the way up her arm as you give her another moment's respite.

“Here your weakness and ignorance will be burned away. You must rise before nothing but ash remains. This is your last chance to make something of yourself Cassie.”

You grip into her arm and boil the flesh through as her arm begins to smolder. She thrashes like a wild animal against Fara and your watery prison.

You watch her features. Eyes, anything. You need the sign to stop. When do you stop...

You see a flash of color from her eyes and you keep the pressure on. Was it a trick of your own?
A brown gleam erupts from her eyes as her power manifests. The tiles rumble around you, yet nothing moves as you back off, eyeing her wounds.
>>
A boiled mark on the back of her hand and wrist that ooze blood. A line from there and then a band around her shoulder. You look down at the tiles. Some have indeed shifted, as though they were peeled away from you. You'll not to be more careful with this next time. Who knows if this could be the end of you?

The woman's in a daze, yet almost limp.

[What shall we do with her Asher?] Fara whispers through your mind, [She's been good and awakened... I saw you eye her body... Will you take her now? Flesh that I couldn't possibly have? Doubtful that she could resist you.]

Want her to actually be cognizant and have the opportunity to accept the choice.

The question is, how the hell do we get her out of here without some peasant calling the police or getting in our way?

Illusion magic?
Get Helia to remove one of the walls of the bathroom, so we can leave without reentering the main diner?
Kill everyone?

>>30644543

>[] Call in one of the others. You're taking her with for when she recovers.

Gently try to wake the girl up a bit from the daze. We can probably sneak her out of the place without any trouble, and then give her the choices when she's in a state to actually understand them.

And chat with Fara. [Hot Rod called dibs, do you truly think of me as such a lowly person that I would break that sacred covenant between men.

“Hot Rod called dibs. Do you truly think of me as such a lowly person that I would break that sacred covenant between men?” You speak aloud as you pick up the woman's body with you magic. Her body rests limp in your hydrokinetic jail as you confirm that she's still breathing.
[Perhaps you would. Perhaps I'm not so naïve anymore to think that my Asher is such a good person. Perhaps he's expressed disinterest in me and looked at other women keenly with his one good eye.]

You frown as you break your vision away from the helpless waitress, “You know, honestly. she's not bad. But it is kind of boring if they're not actually conscious. Besides, she isn't half as pretty as you are.”

There's a sudden silence from Fara's end with her jealous ramblings. The water of the room moves, merging into her form. She glances over it with the glowing eyes of her frozen mask and alters curves into herself to pose, pushing her chest out,”You really think so?” Her shimmering form of water, ice, and ephemeral light is crystal clear. Translucent in how you can see straight through.

You roll your eye and give a playful swat of her backside, sending ripples through her aqueous from, “Definitely. Never seen a chick quite like you.” You chuckle at your own mildly cruel joke.

“I'm going to go get Helia to get us an exit. Make sure she doesn't go anywhere, okay?”
“Okay!” Fara beams with her frozen smile. It's actually a little eerie just having her stand there in full form like that. Especially when she just does it herself.

You get Helia from the booth and tell everyone else that it's about time to go.
The procession is quick, no one asks questions.

Pushing open the bathroom door again, you notice a color that shouldn't be there among the puddles of water. Red?

Your eye follows, and you see something that you, yourself cannot believe.
>>
The Waitress, Cassie has been pinned to the wall via icy spikes going through her wrists and abdomen. The blood seeps into its icy lover and unfrozen excess drips out onto the floor. Helia gasps, clasping her hands over her mouth and witnessing you for the first time with fear. You were away for a minute, a goddamn minute.

“Fara, what the fuck?” You ask sternly through a strained expression as her frozen smile quickly goes neutral with a child-like misunderstanding.

“What? You said make sure she doesn't go anywhere. So I did. You don't need her dragging you down anyway, I'm helping you.” She speaks gleefully though there's an undertone to her voice that suggests that you've done something wrong.

>[] “Take her down.” There may be time to save her...
Except don't ask for that from Fara, use our own power to take her down without hurting her any farther, maybe keep ice patches over the wounds so she doesn't just bleed out right away. Since, you know, telling Fara to take her down would undoubtedly be interpreted as a kill order. Dismiss Fara to be dealt with later

>[] Stay in front of Helia.

>[] “You're disobeying me Fara. I didn't tell you to do this.”
Particularly, bring up the contract. After we went through the trouble of awakening her, Fara is clearly NOT helping your cause.
>[] Stay in front of Helia.

Since she predictably entered yandare mode, we need to handle this carefully. Do NOT show any concern towards any of the female party members. Just assert our authority as her summoner and maybe play on her affection.

We can dispel our own summon, though it might damage her and piss her off (though that's half the point, seeing as she's obviously in need of some classical conditioning). There isn't much of a prospect for a fight. I just want to hear her discorporated voice whining while we make her explain what she did, why it was wrong and that she's sorry. Like a child. that was actually why I voted 'no' for flirting, I wouldn't mind eventually fucking a thoughtform, but I wanted to wait until she had a more rounded personality.

Thankfully we should be able to clean this up.

The floor is covered in water, and there's convenient plumbing nearby so it shouldn't be hard to get all the blood dealt with, and we can cover up the wounds with Ice and illusions of her NOT bleeding.

Hopefully the girl doesn't die, but it's not the hugest loss if she does, it was still good practice.

You stay still and steady before Helia, maintaining eye contact with Fara, watching her every little distorted movement.
“Take her down.” You say slowly and carefully so that you are not misheard.

The Banshee cocks its head to the side,”Take who down? This miserable CUNT, or the one behind you?” As she points, your vision inadvertently follows her finger as a rapidly freezing lash of water erupts from the puddle.
At once you counter it with your own magic, bending the path of the liquid projectile away even as Helia flinches herself into her own block with a small shield of ice. It burns more than you thought it would..

“Fara, you're suppose to help me, remember? Attacking my allies? You're pissing me off here.”

Helia glances to you,”Asher, what's going on here? Isn't she yours?”

“And Asher is mine!” The fitful apparition casts another volley of frozen bolts at Helia. “Mine, Mine, Mine!”
The bolts fly in everywhich way, shimmering through the air with their own internal light refracting through the frozen water even as they crash against Helia's rapidly growing shield as she steps in front of you more fully.

“Shut up Fara!” You yell and cast your hand out, targetting her as you dig into the boiling aspect of your powers. You killed her this way once, you can kill her again.

“Oh Asher! You get me so very HOT!” The banshee laughs at your attempt even as you see parts of her form slip away into vapors. Just not quite quickly enough.
“Oh Asher, will you boil me away into nothing, or will I gut this pretty body you seem so keen on?” Fara's Frozen claw traces itself over Cassie's midsection, the back and across the young woman's supple flesh.
>>
“Helia, stop her!” At your word, the woman drives forward in her frozen full armor, returning fire of her own ice-bolts with an eerily similar composition.
The banshee whips and winds around, removing its claw from the waitress's abdomen and giving Helia an extended lash that's blocked by the frozen armor, knocking Helia into the stalls.
“Fara, you're disobeying me. I command you to stop this before you hurt me.” You increase the channeled power, further destabilizing her aqueous form. Spitting at the ground, in disgust you abandon that strategy and switch to exploding steam at her form while mixing in that hardening spell to slow down her movements.

Fara gasps in pain as her form is further harmed by your attack, yet she continues to stare at you, unwilling to harm you. Unable to harm you.
“Asher, Asher... So cruel. This is the man that's killed me twice before...” Her voice distorts, her mask opening with a maw of frozen teeth that she spews at Helia,”... And his bitch that I cleaved the intestines from. How is that eating for you? Vile bitch of flesh?” Fara's speech and form distort more and more into a monstrous apparition before your very eyes.
By the time Helia's launched more frozen bolts at her, Fara's donned provacative proportions with wickedly sharp spikes and fangs dehumanizing all her other parts.

“Am I beautiful Asher? Do you think I'm beautiful now?” A frosted glass eye stares at you with impunity as she thrusts out a bladed talon of ice in an attempt to shear off that armor.
“She is an eyesore to you, is she not? That weak personage. She would only drag you down with her feeble struggle.”

“Shut up!” Helia is the one to scream as she blasts a spear of ice through the head-form of Fara, cutting it in twain.
>>
>>30646596
>“Shut up!” Helia is the one to scream as she blasts a spear of ice through the head-form of Fara, cutting it in twain.

With a deep breath, you take advantage of Helia's initiative and summon up all the uncontested waters in the room as a scalding steam. Your nerves burning only dully still as you realize that even now you've improved.

“Shut up! You know nothing about me! I'll tear that stupid look off of your face! I am strong, I am strong!” Helia screams as she rips and tears in her frozen armor, separating and dividing a laughing spectre that continues to mock her.

“Fara, as you have disobeyed me I must burn you once again. Boil, scald, fester and burn, in this pain there's a lesson learned!”

You converge the steam into a scalding oven, condensing it into place as in the peak of it, your nerves feel like a hot iron. The wraith writhes within, her ice boiled away, her water distorted and punched through.

You feel her ever so weakly as a single eye and hand materialize before you, reaching out.
“I just.... wanted to be... loved again...” A single tear is shed from the apparition, likely the same tear that you'd used as a medium to summon her once before.
You look to her with a certain sullen expression before you motion to the crucified woman with a dip of your head. “Can you... Get her down?”

Helia looks and then nods before setting to work as you stare at the tear.

For the last two weeks she'd shared similar brainspace. She'd saved your life and you just kept stringing her along.

You shrug, not your fault that she was a spineless bitch. Fara aside, Helia's come a long way on her own.
You stare at Helia as if seeing her for the first time. She's become much stronger. Much stronger than the bitch she was back in San Diego. The woman that had been laid out by a monster that didn't even see her as a target.
>>

Getting mad and shitting on people doesn't make you seem correct, it just makes people get mad at you, and want to oppose you even more.

It's people like you that cause all these shitstorms, because you're to juvenile and immature to disagree with someone without stereotyping and insulting them.

And even if you were to blame AoPH, they wouldn't have gotten here until far after Fara was on the road to getting fucked up, you're clearly just strawmanning people because you don't know how to properly conduct yourself like an adult.

So, sometime before Sunday we need to contract a Summon. The Hydra is a bit dangerous to have out in the church, considering it exudes poison and might just passively murder people before we even get around to awakening them.

Fara said Asher had killed her twice, did I forgot one besides when we first got her tear? Or did she remember and somehow recognize us as not rescuing her mortal form?
>>
>>30647105
Thoughtforms can have any ability if you have to power to fuel it.
>>
>>30647130
Would you rather have a potentially insane Thoughtform powered with the ability to see past, present and future who can answer any question honestly or summon a Mythos who can do the exact same thing with no maximum drain on our part?
>>
>>30647149
>no maximum drain
OP has confirmed multiple times that Mythos are not inherently more powerful than Thoughtforms.
>>
>>30647130
We dont though.
A nice Mythos is high risk high gain.
A mild Thoughtform is nice though. Easier to control and can be killed without reprecussions if it goes overboard. THATS where it wins out over Mythos in overall comparison imo.
l
>>
>>30647170
Not inherently, but potentially.
>>
>>30647149
Thoughtforms can become loyal friends and allies, they're personalized, and they belong to us, no divided loyalty. Literally the only drawback is that we have to practically raise them like a child, and we can mess up, like we clearly did. We can take this as a learning experience and move on from there though, we don't have to never summon thoughtforms again.
>>
>>30647170
Of course not. Thoughtforms are powered by your imagination. But the stronger they are, the more drain it requires. Summoning a Thoughtform with Omnipresence would probably be extremely difficult, maybe borderline impossible to summon due to the power drain.

Summoning a Mythos with Omnipresence however would be much, much easier.
>>
>>30647194
Well, yeah. Thoughtforms are on you, Mythos are just copy paste. You can't fuck up the second.
>>
>>30647118
>You really need to chill out and stop being so confrontational. I almost don't want to inform you that I've been with this quest since thread 3 because it won't change anything. I don't need to seem correct, I am correct. You're right, telling me that changes nothing, we had idiots back then too, just way less. People now are going to oppose me no matter what, because I choose what's best for Asher, and they choose bizarre shit that leads to us needing to kill our own summon.

>It's people like you that cause all these shitstorms, because you're to juvenile and immature to disagree with someone without stereotyping and insulting them.
I disagreed plenty reasonably in previous threads, only to be met by OMG SUMMONING THE BEST and WE'VE COME THIS FAR, MIGHT AS WELL KEEP GOING. Didn't quite work out. As for causing shitstorms, well, with yall in here it's pretty much all shit by now.
>And even if you were to blame AoPH, they wouldn't have gotten here until far after Fara was on the road to getting fucked up, you're clearly just strawmanning people because you don't know how to properly conduct yourself like an adult.

no, fara got fucked up right when we got that huge influx of OMG SUMMONING SO COOL idiots who decided to give her more power no matter what she did and never call her on it. These same people are then surprised when she stops obeying us. Stop strawmanning me because you don't know how to properly conduct yourself as an adult, kthx.
>>
>>30647221

>>
>>30647221
>You can't fuck up the second.
You can fuck up by summoning an asshole. Lucky, we have the Internet and the many Daemonology studies on our side so we can avoid those. Also Lucifer promised to allow us to summon some when we awaken some people.
>>
You slip the tear into your hoodie's pocket, and assist Helia with taking the girl down. With a bit of magic you seal her wounds and check her vitals with a touch. Still breathing. Good. You exhale with relief. As you send the water and blood down the sink, flushing away all that color. With a glance at the stall you realize that there's nothing you can much do about that.

When you finally do walk out of there, with the girl slung over Helia's shoulder, you find that the restaurant's gone dead quiet with only your allies standing around.

“Asher.” Eshe nods her head to you, and you know what she wants.
You explain what happened and she nods along.
“Yes, this is the reason that I watched your summoning before. American nerves have not used the power, yet we have lost good people to their own magic this way. It is fortunate that she did not intend to harm you.”

“I guess so.” You don't mention the tear.

With all of the staff incapacitated by Eshe you all pick out some keys and take your leave. With a modicum of style. Lucky you managed to score a jeep despite it barely fitting everyone.

You obscure the license plate with a trick of mirage at the hospital as you dump the girl off. There's not much for explaining those wounds after all. Aerin honks the horn and you undo the magic sealing her wounds shut.

You peer back at the woman in the rear-view as Eshe putsa hand upon your shoulder. “She was your responsibility and you did what she could. She will not know her choice from here, yet she will make them.”
She then speaks to everyone,”We must do this again. They will be taken by the government, yes. But it is our mission to free them after meeting with Jackie. We will see them again someday.”

I would argue that Fara wasn't messed up by gaining more power, itw as messed up by how we chose to influence her personality, and how we interacted with her.

For example, when she asked us "What was I like before this?" We basically told her "You were a sociopath with no friends, you probably hated your family, and I'm your only reason to live."

That's what did it. I knew even then that it would bite us in the ass too.

But look man, you have to understand that I'm really just trying to help you out on an emotional level, independent of whats going on in the rest of the thread. Nobody here is your enemy, I'm just trying to get you over these tendencies you have, because if nobody ever tries to convince you that you shouldn't act so vitriolic, you're just going to spaz out again and again, and you're going to be the root of a problem in thread after thread, never accepting blame for being an asshole, always acting like it's someone elses fault. Because that's just how people act.

I don't know how to say that nicely.

>>30647248
>[] Check out Sheri's ranch.

yeah, cause we're super likely to run into regular soldiers

“No Hot Rod. We're going back to the motel. It's been enough excitement for one day and we need to reserve rooms again.” You say with Aerin echoing in agreement.

The kid sighs, shaking his head and slouching back into his seat,”Man, that's no fun. We got the cash to make it rain, right?”

“You need magic to make it rain.” Eshe retorts with dry sentiment.

Hot Rod seems to be at a loss for a moment before her gets it,”Oh- I meant like throwing dollar bills at ladies workin' that pole. You know, strippers.”

Eshe furrows her brow at that,”Strippers?”

“Chicks that take off their clothes and dance for hard cash. What, no strippers where- Oh, duh. I feel like a dumbass now.”

“Good to know we're situation normal.” You tease.

“After that breakfast, it's more like all fucked up.” Aerin sighs, keeping her hands steady on the wheel.”

“Actually, we could just skip this town. Now that we've got a jeep. Vegas shouldn't be far from here as I remember.”

Hunter takes a look outside as you all pass by the interstate,”Yeah. It's even on the signs. We could make it on a full tank.”

“Think they're gonna catch onto that Denny's business before Sunday?” Aerin asks back to the rest of you as she honks the horn at someone that just cut her off.

“Ah shit, well. We took down the witnesses...” You speak to yourself.

“But she say your face,” Helia points that out and you flush a bit from the sudden realization that you'd be on a watchlist. A one-eyed guy would be pretty easy to find.
>>
You all make it back to the motel and begin to settle in until the old lady at the desk refuses to take your money,”Nah, you stunk up the room. We don't like people that do whatever you do. Go somewhere else.”

Surely enough, you all eventually find another motel, albeit a bit more expensive and decisively shittier.
“Home is where the heart is?” Helia says with a bit of trepidation as she goes inside the girl's room.

You aren't quite thrilled about this either but at least the place is qui- what's that sound?

You hear a shaking from the ceiling above you in a pattern you'd recognize anywhere. Oh COME O-
Wait. These rooms are pretty isolated...

See if anyone wants to come with and help out with this. We could all use some practice.

If we pull it off, we can go Awaken the fuckbunnies upstairs and have less risk of just making corpses out of them.

Bring Hot Rod. We can have him rape the dudes wife/hooker/girlfriend. That'll cause some trauma.

What if it's two dudes?
>>

Well then I guess Hot Rod is going to learn some fun new experiences.

[] Kill two birds with one stone, visit your neighbors upstairs
lets go with Rod

If we're going in, can we at least summon the ravens inside their room to make sure they don't have guns within reach or something?
>>
With the two bumping uglies above you can't see how you'd very much well get sleep. Or any kind of rest. That said, it's also right well in the middle of the day. What the hell?

Hot Rod seems to tune in on the whole thing as well. You roll your shoulders and grab your water bottle before opening the door.
“Asher, where you goin, man?”
You point up,”Got some business upstairs.” You speak with a violent inflection,”Want to come?”

Hot Rod raises his hnds at that,”Ah, nah dude. All yours. Do what you do.”

You leave the kid to his lonesome and tromp up the stairs slowly, only trying to quiet the impact of your boots near the end as you pick up on caution.

You get to the door in question.

Unlock.
Stealth.
Afterwards summon an ice snake to scout for guns.
If they have some, jam them with ice.
>>
>>30648039
Summon the ravens inside to check for things and maybe have them go in the bathroom and turn on the water.

Assuming all clear, unlock the door with magic
