Part 6 is lost

You are Nick Trimmers. Peasant Barber and Dimensional Mystic learning how to use his abilities, and more about the greater megaverse around him.

Currently, you have taken up residence in Arsenal, a pocket dimension serving as a permanent arms expo and gun show, attached to a larger universe of aliens, magic, and technology.

You have returned to your apartment with food for yourself, and a wheel of cheese that you intended to offer to the sprites whose world you initially landed on and caused some problems before arriving in Arsenal.
>>
>>30660028
Getting settled in, you prepare to continue your practice by opening a small rift to the world you visited previously.

>Attempt to open portal now? Roll 1d100 roll low.
>Other actions or preparations?
>Try to open a portal to a random world instead?
>>
(Trying to be a bit more minimalist in my opening, it's been suggested that I try to present less of a wall of text.
Any questions about anything, please feel free.
Whether about yourself, the situation, the system, your possessions, or whathaveyou, it is all good.)

Settling in you rest on the cushy box of a bed that came with the room and spend a few minutes focusing and reaching out with your powers to open a small rift between this world and that of the sprites..
As the energies coalesce, you instinctively know that things have gone awry. Perhaps you'd grown too confident with your previous successes, the small portal still opens, but onto a decidedly different world..

>Roll 3d100. First two for dimension (random), last for favorableness of location there (high is good).

The small rift opens and even without your sense of dimensions, you know this to be a very different place. A acrid stench of brimstone and iron wafts through the portal, and through it you see a being whose very presence filled you with a terrified dread.
>>30661084
Precious seconds are spent in frozen terror as you stare into the portal.
The being beyond looks up from the altar it is standing behind, closing a book whose pages glow darkly.
A voice lice silken acid addresses you, "Well now. What lost child has found its way into my humble abode? You are either a fool or very fortunate to seek my audience. Which is it?"

I got it from sitting in a ruin that had a throne carved into the wall. It was also a focal point. I wanted to know if you knew anything about it."
The being's appearance flickers to that of a handsome young man with stylishly slicked back red hair, bronze skin, and eyes like coal. Stepping from behind the altar/demonic workstation, those eyes gaze upon you with bemusement.
"Fascinating, really." A dangerous flicker of annoyance crosses his features. "So you found yourself in the possession of great power, Nick Trimmers," He says your name as if relishing a treat. "and thought to seek personal audience with the Lord of Hades to learn more about them? Well then, it is certain that I can provide you with guidance.. but what benefit do you offer to me? Have you come to offer yourself, wisely I might add, to my service, or are you a the sort of fool that expects me not to crush their soul for interrupting me unbidden?"

>>
>>30662472
I'm hoping to pick up more if we keep the activity up, but we could do some Q&A or whathaveyou to pass the time until more folks bite.
>>
>>30662472
So, as the quest's regular, care to wager any guesses as to what the system and overarching setting this quest has been in?
>>
Rolled 31

>>30665266
I don't really know. I don't really get into all the stuff that others do. I used to only be a regular on Bay12 until about 4-5 months ago. And even then, I was not really active in things like DnD or pathfinder. Bay12 was my first dive into the genre. I only know a couple of quests. It sorta seems familiar to MtG, or the Metaquest setting. Any hints?
>>
>>30665423
Well, this thread in particular has been more free with some of the terminology that could give it away.
Had posted on the twitter for folks to try guessing before I revealed it for bonus experience, but didn't have any bites there either.

Arsenal being one of those 'named' dimensions with only a a bare description on a random table, rest is on me.

With the 'leyline whale' name you'd been using, I thought you had already figured it out. Since those are a thing.

As the situation turns threatening, you decide that discretion is the better part of valor, and work to close the portal. Fortunately the rift is entirely under your control, and with a thought is begins to close..
However, is seems the Lord of Hades is quick on the draw and angered by your apparent choice not to supplant yourself to him. He reaches out a gesturing hand, darkness gathering around it and suddenly erupting forth..

Where is goes from there is anyone's guess, because even Modeus has to take time to cast and the portal closes faster than that.

A cold tremor of fear my still haunt you, sensing the energies that were about to come your way, but at least you know that, away from a focus point, it is your energy alone holding the portal open, and is yours to command.
>>
>>30666381

Leaning toward the hole, you call out for the sprites. Waiting a bit, you try again. Then wait some more.. though on the third time you recognize that you are calling out in their language. Which mean, if you understand correctly, that an least one has to have been near you for a few moments.

He eyes you suspiciously, "Why'd you do it?!? Why take Jana, why trash the shore and threaten to burn us? Why'd you hurt her???" Tiny fist balled up as he seems to be prepared to take a few more swings at you, but seems to be holding off for a moment to listen to you.

Slowly, Splak begins to cautiously calm down in response to your words.
"Yeah.. I guess she can be pretty scary.. but you better not be lying about Jana! or I will-" He waves a tiny fist in your direction, you think he's trying to be threatening.
He glances toward the still open portal and seems to give an 'okay' gesture to others that you can't see.
"Okey dok then. We should go see her now! Let's roll tub-o!" Hey you aren't fat, you're just bigger than him. "Maybe he's posturing for the others.
