Even from the hanger you can see the red hot wound in the face of Terminal’s mountain fortress. The Giga DODS did its job and dealt a nasty blow, probably leaving Terminal in disarray and scrambling to get a proper defense up. Barry should have the Mara’s main gun charged before then, but Terminal has already deployed enough mobile suits to match W.A.R.M’s numbers and will probably be deploying more shortly.

Thankfully since you just blew a hole in the side of their fortress, Terminal probably sees the Treasure Star as the biggest threat on the battle field and will most likely be sending most of their forces your way. That means you’ll be drawing most of the agro away from the rebels and allowing Barry to wind up the attack that will end this battle before Terminal can gain the upper hand, provided you don’t stick around him that is.
At the moment the Treasure Star is still near General Campbell’s Forces. This needs to change before Terminal’s mobile suits try to punch through W.A.R.M to get to you.

Leaving the field of battle would probably be unwise so you have a few options.

To the North West and South West there are other rebel forces approaching Terminal HQ. General Campbell is not in direct contact with these rebels and they are not a part of W.A.R.M, but rather other independent resistance groups. Moving to assist these other groups might be wise as they are probably poorly armed.

Even with the additional agro you’d bring by going to assist them you’d still be more of a help then a hindrance. However you could also move to an empty part of the battlefield and draw enemies away from the rebels entirely. Terminal will definitely deploy troops to engage them, but more will be directed towards you then them.

So, what do you wish to do Jake?

Can we fall back between the two attacking rebel forces so they can flank Terminal from both sides? We can provide some covering fire with the Anti-Beam chaff, and the Aces aboard the ship can take care of whatever comes too close. And there're also the TS's cannons.

Also notify Campbell that there're two groups of rebel forces, and that he should coordinate with them to box Terminal in.
>>
>>30712960
>[C] Move for a different location away from any rebel forces (Write in)
We can't risk those people. We don't know what forces they have, even with us defending them drawing aggro to them would be too risky. All it takes is one beamspam-capable Gundam and half their forces will be taken out. Let's advance to between the independent groups. That way we'll be a barrier to Terminal advancing on W.A.R.M's forces. And get on the radio, see who these people are. We need to coordinate this. Also, I'm kind of hoping that at least one of the groups will be Cagalli finally reclaiming some autonomy and self-determination. I want that to happen a lot.
>>
>>30713301
I think we established that Cagalli is still in charge of ORB and the one funding WARM from behind the scenes.
And that she used some political clout to avoid getting crushed by Terminal before - that's why WARM got its headquarters there.

Also there's this.

Oh, I know Cagalli's WARM's backer. But there's a big difference between providing resources and finally working up the nerve to fight back. Come on, Cagalli, you can do it. I know you want to kill Lacus. Girl NTR'd you with Kira (sure, he's your brother, but you didn't know that at the time and it had to have hurt at least a little) and crippled your nation. Don't you want to give her at least one solid punch in the gut?

Well, she could be out there. WARM deployed 4 aces, right? Three in the custom Astrays and one in the Mara. Out of those, we know Campbell, Barry and Sei, so the fourth could be Cagalli for all we know. Either way, we should look out for those guys. They could help with these rebel forces - and the one Astray that we customized for defense could prove useful if the Treasure Star can't take any shots without losing power.

Also, Crosswire, you did describe Rena in a previous thread - blonde, but colors her hair red because she's a Mellis fangirl, with blue eyes and an athletic hourglass figure.
>>
>>30713733
Pretty sure WARM only had two aces, not counting Barry in the Mara. It's just General Campbell and Sai in our bootleg Justice and Freedom. Cagalli could have the Akatsuki still hidden away, though, ready to lead a few remaining Murasames to attack.

(Ah! Thank you. I lost the description and couldn't find it.)

W.A.R.M only deployed two aces, Barry technically doesn't really count since he's an engineer operating a mobile armor. Sei and Cambell are operating the Liberation and Sanction Gundams, there wasn't a forth ace unit.

>>30713172
>>30713301
General Campbell was the one who informed you of the other rebel forces being in the area in the first place, he doesn't need to be told again. He sent word through as many secure channels as he could that they were going to attack Terminal HQ. So these rebels probably have an idea of what W.A.R.M intends to do. However calling them to make sure and know what they have is a good idea.

After dealing with the interference and scanning the radio frequencies you manage to contact the rebel forces and discover there are actually three groups. The first two groups are clustered together in the North West and made up of mobile suits and old vehicles. The group in the South West are from ORB, or heavily backed by them anyway, and are made up mostly of aquatic mobile suits and two old ships.

They know of W.A.R.M's intentions, but aren't completely confident that they'll be able to pull it off. Still they offer their support and are willing to listen to any suggestions you have in terms of strategy.

Here is the field of Battle. Terminal is already fielding DOM Troopers and are most likely going to be deploying a lot more troops.

>Let's advance to between the independent groups.
>Can we fall back between the two attacking rebel forces so they can flank Terminal from both sides?

Possibly, where exactly do you wish to move the Treasure Star too on the map?
(For some reason the grid doesn't show up when I zoom out all the way, I apologize)
>>
>>30713940
I think we were assuming we were all approaching from the west. Didn't realize we were in the east. Okay, let's just go out in front of the WARM forces. Drawing aggro to those independent groups isn't worth it, they've got a numerical advantage that we don't want to screw up for them. We should advance straight ahead to the middle dock on the east side. Make enough commotion there and we can draw the suits in the north-east away from Mara without it being obvious we're trying to protect it.
>>
>>30713940
Damn it Sirius, you can't hit the broad side of a mountain with that gun.

Anyway, the two lesser rebel groups should focus on taking down stragglers and ambush attacks. The aquatic ones should keep low and attack only when they can - possibly targets going for the Treasure Star from the sea. The other group could try to take out the enemy base entrances, so the only way they can leave is through the front gate and directly into WARM.

The ships can provide artillery fire, but they should relocate behind Campbell's forces - they can't win an all-out fight.
>>
>>30714139
I think you'll find that he quite literally hit the broad side of the mountain. Given that the mountain seems to slope to the south, Terminal is probably offset that direction in order to have a thicker layer of earth over it. That was a direct hit, I think.
>>
>>30714197
(It was a direct hit, my artistic abilities don't show it properly however)

>>30714108
Reasoning that having the other rebels launch a direct assult would be dangerous and costly, you advise them to focus on taking out the exits to Terminal's underground hangers. Even if they can reroute the forces somewhere it'll be a hindrance and slow the rate they can push out troops.

The other rebel groups agree, with the ocean based rebels stating they'll handle any aquatic suits Terminal tries to deploy.

>>30713979
>>30713989

“Sirius! Move the Treasure Star straight ahead; put us between W.A.R.M’s forces and the mountain. Let’s try to take out those hangers and draw the heat of Campbell and the others.”

“Alright. Full speed ahead!” Captain Sirius shouts as the Treasure Star begins to proceed forward.

You have a few moments before the Treasure Star reaches its position. Now would be a good time to choose your suit’s load out. It’ll probably be pretty quick since the Cursader’s Legend Wear overs it’s hard points up, save for the ones in your trick shield.
------
Optional Hand Armaments:

>SEM Rifle- 6 Shots a magazine.

>Trick Shield: Flash System, 2-tubed Grenade Launcher. 2-Goo Grenades currently loaded, and two hardpoints behind the shield. Each Hardpoint is able to hold two weapon magazines or grenades each.

Fixed Armaments:

>Beam Vulcans/Beam Sabers x2 *built into forearm attachments*

>Beam “Buster” Cannon x1 *built into torso chest plate*

>Tail Beam Rifle x1 *attached to rear, able to position between legs or over shoulder*
-----

What do you wish to use the shield hardpoints for Jake?
>>
>>30714197
>>30714318
It was a joke. Might as well mess with Sirius a bit.

Anyway, get the SEM, the trick shield, the Excalibuster MkII and ammo for the SEM.
Get mostly goo and explosive, we have no idea how our SEM will handle their phase armor.
>>
>>30714318
Wait, I thought we got ten shots per magazine of SEM. Did we upgrade to a higher caliber?

Anyway, give us two magazines of SEM ammo, mixed evenly between AP Plasma and Flash. Load the same into our current magazine. The remaining hardpoint stores a pair of goo grenades. Thrown, not launched, in case our grenade launcher gets damaged. And of course we take the Excalibuster Mk.II. That thing is amazing. We have yet to meet an opponent we couldn't kill with one swing of it. Should be fun to see how it stacks up to Phase Shift (probably should be fine, we cut through GN Composite armor easily enough, even if that was the mass-production version).

One last question: Last thread you said the tail beam rifle could hold another weapon for hands-free wielding. If we do that does it disable the beam rifle, or can we fire both at once? Because keeping the SEM on the tail binder would be helpful.
>>
>>30714517
We also have the HyDODS buster cannon nearby. We could give it to Daiki, if we can't equip it ourselves.
>>
>>30714604
Let Daiki have it. I think throwing on the HY-DODS would be overkill. We've already got the beam buster and the tail gun for heavy beam weapons. And trying to out-beamspam the Cosmic Era is a fool's errand, anyway.
>>
>>30714517
>Wait, I thought we got ten shots per magazine of SEM. Did we upgrade to a higher caliber?

You did, the larger bolts should be able to do more damage at the cost of using up more clip space.

>One last question: Last thread you said the tail beam rifle could hold another weapon for hands-free wielding. If we do that does it disable the beam rifle, or can we fire both at once? Because keeping the SEM on the tail binder would be helpful.

I'm afraid it disables the beam rifle. It's a safety measure to prevent any kind of misfire or complication since you could mount just about any light or medium weapon on it that could fit. Firing a missile launcher and a beam rifle at the same time, so close together could lead to issues. The AGE Builder considered this and installed a safety feature to prevent something like that.

>>30714517
>>30714445
>>30714604
You bring two magazines of SEM Ammo, 3 shots Flash and 3 shots AP Plasma. You use the the other hardpoints to carry two hand thrown Goo Grenades just in case your launcher gets busted.

Attaching the SEM Rifle to the Crusader's Tail, you decide to carry a fully refueled Excalibuster Mk.II into battle due to a lack of a place to store it.

Seeing as how you whipped up a HyDODS Buster Rifle you offer it to one of the other pilots, Daiki ends up taking it to use with his AGE-1 Phoenix.

You are now ready for battle and the TS is in position. Is there anything you wish to do before you launch Jake?
>>
>>30714755
I don't mean firing both at the same time. I mean having the option to fire either. It would make the tail a lot more versatile. We should be able to swap back and forth between the two. Though even if we can't just being able to eject the SEM after we run out of ammo will be a nice touch.

Right, let's launch. I think we're about ready for some combat. W

At least we can out-grenade them. And so far, we have the edge considering anti-beam tech - we have those cowls and cloths, as well as the ablative plating on most of our suits.

Side note, see if we can develop proper RPGs eventually. Our grenade launchers are okay, but we need something more if the Vagans are going to mass-produce X-Rounders.

>>30714755
Get an anti-beam cowl for everyone. And fire some anti-beam chaff missiles to give us cover while we deploy.
>>
>>30714886
I was thinking that one of the standard mass-produced weapons for Gen 3 should be a SEM Bazooka, basically the 330mm linear cannon upgraded with improved magnetic accelerators and firing new ammo. The larger projectile size should let us make bolts that include both seeker and AP capabilities. Maybe even throw in an explosive warhead if we have the room. That would be a nasty weapon to bring out, if we could make it work.
>>
>>30714961
The EM bullpup was mass produced, might as well make an SEM bullpup for Gen-3. The SEM sniper / cannon could be based of the 180, and the heavy weaponry could be an SEM bazooka. Throw in some tech from the recoilless we got with that Genoace, and the Merlin Adeles (Madeles?) should kick some serious ass.

As for explosive weapons, we should see if it's possible to make miniature plasma divers. Not enough to damage a colony, but at least wreck a ship or blow up some suits.

You can fire in between the two, just not at the same time.

>>30714886
Everyone who wishes to wear a anti-beam cowl is already equipped with one, Lhuga, Daiki, and Koketsu. Jerid and Mouar appear to be going without them, probably because an Anti-Beam Cowl might get in the way of their suits many thruster units.

With everyone equipped and ready to go, Sirius launches a barrage of Anti-Beam Chaff missiles ahead to provide cover for everyone while they’re launching. Once everyone’s suits are in place in the revolving catapult, it begins to fire them off in rapid secession.

“Koketsu, Genoace Custom, Launching!”

“Lhuga, G-Exes Custom, HERE I COME!”

“Daiki Ryuuzaki, AGE-1 Phoenix, Launching!”

“Jerid Messa, Totus Apparatus, entering the battlefield!”

“Mouar Pharaoh, Byarlant Custom unit 2, Deploying!”

As the revolving chamber gets to you, you flex the Crusader Legend’s wings and grip the controls of your suit tightly as the sun shines of the visor of your helmet.

“Jake Crocker, Crusader Legend, Going to fight!”

The Crusader is blasted down the catapult deck with the suddenness of a bullet leaving a gun. As soon as the Crusader’s feet leave the deck you activate the Lightwave propulsion systems in the wings and take to the air. The flying feels so graceful and fluid, is this what it’s like to fly in a Vagan mobile suit?

Looking down onto the battlefield you see W.A.R.M’s forces have spread out and many DOM Troopers are headed your way. The closest group is stuck in an anti-beam chaff cloud and trying to get out, while the other two DOM Trooper groups are trying to get within proper firing range.

What do you wish to do Jake?
>>
>>30715130
Also the usual - HyDODS variants of the sniper, shotguns and regular rifles, just mass-produced. Though we should probably focus on getting trick ammo to become the standard - as much as I love me some beam spam, we'll need to fight the Vagans smart and with tactics, not try to outgun them.

Especially if my guess that Vagans harbored Colony Nation War scientists in exchange for some tech and help to get their colonies off the ground.
>>
>>30715130
The recoilless rifle is the 330mm cannon. But yeah, that's about what I was thinking, too. Here's my tentative ideas for ranged weapons in Gen 3, subject to community discussion and Crosswire's approval, of course:

>HY-DODS Carbine
Cut-down HY-DODS Rifle, essentially the same as Federation suits use in canon, only bullpup for easier wielding. Nothing fancy about this, just a strong beam rifle. Has some issues with over-penetration, though that doesn't stop it from being the standard mobile suit weapon.

>HY-DODS Gatling
A DODS Gatling with the miniaturized focusing and cooling tech used in current beam weapons allowing it to be wielded like a rifle. Technically a regular DODS weapon, but high rate of fire means average power output is equivalent to HY-DODS. Very ammo consuming, even with oversize E-Cap, usually fired in bursts. Popular for its suppressive fire and the fact that as each individual shot is lower powered it has less risk of damaging the backdrops.

>HY-DODS Sniper
A mass-produced Bry-Raiser Rifle. Has a small beam-deflection system based on the Merlin's shield funnels, allows for attacks other than directly in line of rifle. Sees common use with Clanche pilots, as this means they can strafe with it even in mobile armor mode.

>SEM Bullpup
Basically our current SEM Rifle. Ammo selection capability is severely cut down, with the selector being replaced with a double magazine. Allows for only two types of ammo at once, but removing the complicated mechanisms makes it fire faster and hold more ammo.

>SEM Bazooka
The 330mm recoil-less cannon upgraded for faster muzzle velocities and advanced ammo. Large size of projectile means all rounds can mount seeker capabilities as standard, this accuracy makes it incredibly dangerous with explosive or AP bolts. Has a very small ammo capacity, only 5 rounds per magazine.
>>
>>30715431
DOM Trooper bazookas can fire either beams or solid shells, so let's not assume the cloud will foil them completely. We should take out the ones in the cloud fast. Swing the tail around and fire off our AP bolts at the nearest three.
>>
>>30715431
We're a beast in melee, might as well get on those DOMs stuck in the anti-beam chaff. Fire a couple of SEM rounds at them, get in close and slice them up. Whoever else is melee-focused, can be our wingman. So, Lhuga?

>>30715464
With the Bry-Riser tech available, those could be great for some sniping and control actions. And they have the ability to change their beam outputs (well, more overcharge them), but that tech could open up some possibilities to have the HyDODS weapons fire both as regular HyDODS or as normal DODS.

Also, modify the beam weapons so they can pull double duty as a beam saber. Call it the beam bayonet or something.
>>
>>30715581
>>30715817
The others move to attack the DOM Troopers outside the cloud while you move in to attack, firing three AP Plasma Bolts from your tail mounted SEM Rifle at the DOM Troopers inside the pink chaff cloud.

Yeah, beam bayonets are a smart idea. If they're good enough for the Vagans, they're good enough for us. And that brings up the issue of upgraded melee tech, too. We're kind of lacking in variety for that. We need to get vibroblades (of various types) made a common feature, those are very useful. Linear motor-driven spears like the shot lancers of the late UC era would also be nice. Some high-density beam blades like the Adele Starks' spear should be easy enough to make, too. And maybe some electrified or heat weapons? Or electrified heat weapons, why ont double up on the solid blade tech. Hell, let's make that for the Excalibuster Mk.III. An electrified, superheated vibroblade.

The bits the Magnificent 7 used were a more primitive sort of shot lancers, weren't they? 3 blades spinning around the barrel of a DODS gun, which can work both as a ranged weapon and as a drill. Maybe a version of those mounted on weapons instead of bayonets? It's a start, at least.

As for electrified weapons, we should get some electric whips or nets. Tie a guy down, then electrocute him or shut down his systems.

No I just forgot about it. At the moment I'm not remotely fond of the system I'm using for the Quest. It's a little too simple for my tastes, especially when success and failure in MS Combat largely comes down too who has a higher piloting skill bonus.

I looked at a lot of systems but I can't find any that seem to work with what we have going at the moment. I checked out that Mecha FATE game someone was nice enough to share with me, I don't feel it would really work with what we have going.

I'll use this system for now, but one of the bigger changes when Gen 3 truly starts is going to be a system overhaul. I was going to use this side story as a test ground for new systems, but I got frustrated and side tracked with crap.

It'd be similar to what we used before - the character's skill in a certain area is the DC, and the goal is to roll less than that. Being skilled in something and using various modifiers (either through equipment or something) increases the number you need to roll under, making it easier to succeed. And there are degrees of success.
>>
>>30716680
Dark Heresy could actually work really well. Especially if we copy Adeptus Evangelion and Mobile Suit Mechanicus for ideas on how to do the pilot/mecha divide. Only real problem I can see is that hit and damage are separate rolls, which could make combat a bit slow. Maybe just have weapons do the average amount for their dice size, shifted up the bell curve by how many degrees of success the roll is made by?
>>
>>30716743
Or we could do what we're already doing and not roll for damage at all, but base it on how much we succeeded with the hit. A 1 (crit success) destroys the suit and nets some other bonus (like, say, confusing the enemy), while something that's a minor success only damages the suit slightly.

>>30716487

>Critical Failure for Melee DOM

Gliding over the ground, you weaver through the DOM's Bazooka fire as you press once more into melee. The DOM with the damaged arm rushes forward into melee, drawing it's beam saber to attack you.

However with the anti-beam chaff in effect the beam saber looked more like a beam chisel, and it's swung it's rediculously shortened blade at the empty space in front of you, allowing you to thrust the Excalbuster Mk.II into the cockpit of the DOM and kill the pilot without setting off the reactor.

With only two more DOMs left in the cloud you brush past the cockpit gouged DOM and rush towards the remaining two with your sword, firing it's thrusters and taking a sweeping swing to try and hit both of the Terminal Suits.

The DOM's fail to move or raise their shields in time and your Excalibuster cleaves the two of them in half. You take to the air before they explode and fly out of the quickly dispersing chaff cloud.

Looking over the battle field you see most of the DOM Troopers on this side have been taken care of and W.A.R.M. forces along with your own comrades are starting to attack the hanger exits.

Before you can join their attacks you spot 8 mobile suits fly up out of a hole at the top of the mountain. Zooming in you see they're all Gundam-Type mobile suits.

"Wait a minute, those are Freedom Gundams" Sei exclaims upon seeing the six identical suits.

"Could they have mass produced them?" Campbell asks as mocking laughter floods the comm.

"You could say that. In the end a machine is worthless without the proper pilot, and I couldn't bare anyone but my beloved Kira to pilot the Freedom. So I had pilots made to match the suit..."

"Wait...you're talking about clones aren't you? Where the hell did you get that kind of technology you pink haired witch!?" Sei demanded as the Gundam's surveyed the battlefield from the top of the mountain.

"Terminal controls everything in the Earth Sphere. Every proper group supports us, even groups that are not known by common ignorant fools..."

"You're talking about Librarian Works aren't you? Why the hell is that Cabal working for you?" Campbell demanded.

"Because they understand that those who don't obey Empress Lacus will die and agonizing death! You low caste fools will serve as an example for the rest of the world! Now go my knights! Sink that golden ship and bring me the head of W.A.R.M's leaders!"

The Gundam-Type suits scatter, with the pure red one heading towards General Campball, the Blue and Red one heading towards Sei, and the six "Freedom" Gundams heading right for you and the Treasure Star.

What do you wish to do Jake?
>>
>>30718219
What is with these alternate universes and cloning?

Anyway, ask Campbell what these things are capable of, just in case. Prepare the Treasure Star to relocate to a bit safer position, and move back to protect it. Have the ship open fire with its beam cannons, and prepare another anti-beam chaff volley. Take aim with some tracking bolts, and try to kill at least one off.
>>
>>30718219
You're putting us up against six Freedoms piloted by clone Kiras? Jesus. Okay, hopefully the clones have lesser plot armor than their original. Actually, let's bring that up, see if we can rile Lacus up. Get on the channel and say:

"How intact were the DNA samples you made these guys from? Kira suffered some pretty nasty radiation damage towards the end. Seems like you're making a serious risk of defiling his memory with inferior copies. Then again, the original can't have been that great a pilot in the first place. Didn't he die because he wasn't paying attention? That's just silly for someone supposed to be your ace pilot."

Then we fire off the flash bolts left in our SEM Rifle at them, reload it with a new clip, and fly up to meet them. Save our goo grenades for now. I want to see how HiMAT wings do all gummed up. But try the beam buster on the closest one.
>>
>>30718457

"Barry? Would you mind telling me what those suits are?" You as upon seeing the approaching MP Gundams.

"Those appear to be mass production models of the Freedom, a Gundam utilized by Kira Yamato during the first and second Bloody Valentine wars. These appear to be based off the Strike Freedom with minor modifications made to the design." Barry explains as he continues to charge the Mara's main gun.

"How strong would you say they are?" You ask, trying to spot any weaknesses in their design.

"They have powerful long range capabilities and are capable of tracking and destroying multiple targets at once, however I'd have to say it's performance in melee combat depends solely on the skill of the pilot. It's a high mobility suit, but to be frank it's a over popularized suit that relies solely on it's firepower and advanced technology." Barry states, obviously showing a great dislike for the Freedom.

Taking that in mind you flip the Crusader Legend's tail over it's shoulder and fire off the Flash Bolts at the approaching Freedoms, quickly replacing the clip before aiming and firing the Crusader Legend's chest mounted "Buster Cannon" at the closest Freedom effected by the flashes.

Pushing the Crusader's Chest forward you take aim at the approaching Freedom Gundam and press the firing trigger. However instead of a magnificent blast of mobile suit destroying energy, the cannon mounted in the torso armor shorts out and explodes, leaving a blackened hole in the Crusader Legend's chest piece.

"Buster Cannon destroyed due to energy spike from reactor, additional chest armor compromised." Ma G states as the Freedom's begin to fire on the Treasure Star, firing railguns and beam cannons in what could only be describing as wild 'spamming'.

One Freedom, particularly the one you tried to fire on, returns the attempt favor by following it's comrades and firing all it's guns on you in a nasty looking attack.

Well, we did make it by feeding Gen-2 suits data into the AGE builder - it probably can't work properly using the Crusader's old engines. Those things are at least a hundred years old, just repaired and modified to work better than a museum piece.

If we're going to do a Crusader overhaul, we're going with the Black Raven cells for fuel, as well as getting some new engines from the AGE-2 suits. Those things worked great for Rysis - not only did they provide good protection, they are also much lighter than what we're currently using. The only downside is that they're a bitch to refuel, apparently.
>>
I had a horrible Idea for another AGE Quest Gaiden, but this is an alternate Universe. Age Builder + GN Drive Tech...

MY GOD...
>>
>>30720543
I think we can get around that now that we have nanotech. The Raven-type fuel cells are, while not nanotech, on the border. Mesotech, is the usual phrase used. We can make them without nanoassemblers, but we don't really have the technological infrastructure for them, so filling them up was laborious. But with nanotech, we can probably make a proper refueling system for them. Some sort of microfluidic capillary system should work. Which, seeing how we're probably going to have a pseudo-biological Gundam in Gen 3 makes a lot of sense. We'll be more or less approximating the structure of actual bone for its internal frame.

As to your general point, yeah, the Crusader is outdated. I think we've hit the limit of what upgrades we can effectively make with it. It's nice to have the same suit from the beginning to the end, but it's about time we retire it. It's just too difficult to refit our new tech onto. Jake needs a new suit. Something built from the ground up for the current generation. Especially since after we get back we'll have a good four or five new technologies to incorporate into our designs (closer to eight if Crosswire rules that Minovsky tech works in our home universe).

Despite the fiasco with the Crusader Legend's chest cannon, it's mobility is still a boon in this aerial fight as you dive down below the Freedom's combined weapon fire and return fire with your forearm mounted beam vulcans and the tail beam rifle.

As you attack the Justice Gundam reaches and clashes with General Campbell.

"Why do you people still continue to fight? Don't you understand that this is the only way a lasting peace can exist?"

"You're still just a petulant child Athrun. You can barely recognize and take action when an innocent young girl is being manipulated, what the hell makes you think you have what it takes to enforce peace?" General Campbell snarls, kicking the Infinite Justice back and firing Excalibuster's beam rifles at it.

Athrun bolts out of the way and returns fire with his beam rifle, only for Campbell to block the shot with the Excalibuster's beam blades.

"You're still caught about Meer? She was a weak fool who allowed herself to be used. Maybe if you raised her right she wouldn't have ended up dead!"

"My daughter was stronger then you have ever been pretty boy. Even if she was being used she succeeded as much as she did because of her strength of character and her guts. You didn't even have the balls to stand up to your own crazy ass father. Maybe if you weren't such a limp wristed wuss he wouldn't have gone down in history as a genocidal mad man!" Campbell retorts, taking to the air and chasing after Athrun.

We've sort of done that already. Okay, so it hasn't been a priority of Jake's, so it's not as crazy as it could be, but consider all the suits we've exposed the AGE Builder to:
>Unicorn Gundam (indirectly)
>Byarlant Custom 02
>Apparatus
>Strike Dagger
>ZAKU Warrior
>DOM Trooper
>Astray Civilian Custom

That's got a lot of room for upgrades to our tech. The SEED suits have some interesting things with how they handle power systems, that we could adapt for making every one of our guns optionally reactor-linked. Not to mention their defensive systems like Phase Shift or the screaming Nimbus beam field. And the UC suits, even if Crosswire decides that Minovsky tech doesn't work in our universe, have a lot of interesting applications for control systems. Get the half-control psycommu (which despite its name, doesn't require a Newtype) and the arm raker control panel on our suits and they'll be responsive enough to keep up with Vagan psychomet-equipped suits.

Well, Flit got over it by basically adding hard-points everywhere on his AGE-1 and throwing on armor wherever he could. That's basically what the Assault Jacket and Gransa are - upgrades to the AGE-1 Flat. No reason we can't do the same with the Crusader.

This is probably an issue with the incompatibility between Vagan tech and Federation tech - Mellis' suit had similar issues, Gawain had issues with the IUS, and so on. This is probably the same thing - Vagan tech is too weird (they're already using Black Raven-based cells for their suits, and have integrated EM shielding) for the unmodified Crusader to handle.

Makes you wonder what the thing was capable off back during the Colony Nation Wars. The old equipment was probably scrapped (minus the SENTINEL system) because of that Silver Chalice treaty. It was the murder machine in a time where SID and CDACE were common things.

Uther claimed that it was solely due to the SENTINEL system that it was so powerful. Everything had AI support back then, a dedicated electronic warfare suit was unstoppable. Supposedly, its physical capabilities weren't that much better back then than it was when we found it. Arthur probably wouldn't even recognize it after all the changes we've made.

We did get a good look at the Unicorn's NT-D, though. Gave Jake some ideas on how to modify the Grailtech.
If we get stuck here for a while (and Mineva said we will be here for more than 24 hours) we should get a look at the Phase Shift and the Mirage system, maybe even the Lightwave barrier. Those three combined could give us the integrated IUS / EM shield technology for our suits.

>>30721264
If Uther was telling the truth about that entire thing. He probably has no idea what state the Crusader was when we found it - for him, it's still the killing machine he build for his son.
Besides, who knows what Uther didn't tell Dirk - the Vagans were already active back then (which we found out from the logs aboard that ship we found Travis), they got their hands on some experimental tech (namely SIN) and knew where to find the EXA-DB, which was the greatest kept secret in the Federation.
Pretty sure that the colonists and the Vagans were working together back then to take down the Feds. The same as they are doing now.

The Freedom takes evasive maneuvers to try and avoid your attack but you follow the Freedom, spraying your beam vulcans ahead of it in an attempt to shred it's fragile looking wings. You manage to blow one clean off just that and send the Freedom into a violent spin, allowing you to get in a direct hit to the torso with your beam rifle.

That MP Freedom crashes and explodes, leaving 5 more Freedoms to take care of.

They five remaining MP Freedoms are moving closer to the Treasure Star, only warded off by AA fire and the occasional beam cannon blast. Numerous blast marks dot the Treasure Star's deck and hull as the Freedom's continue to blast away at it.

An attack from unknown forces is the last log. Arthur goes to fight and save Rysis, goes MIA, Travis is put into cryostatis, while the ship gets wrecked by unidentified enemies. It'd explain how the Vagans got their hands on so many oldtech suits, SIN, as well as the position of the EXA-DB - they were collaborating with the rebel forces. And it'd explain how the hell Rysis knew how to find them back in Gen-1.

>>30721677

"I wonder if you'll have that smart mouth of yours after I kill all your little friends?"

>1 Critical Failure

"Fully charged! Readying to fire the Mara! Everyone clear out of the way!" Barry yells as the top of his lungs as the Mara rises up from the forest, standing tall on it's tri-pods for everyone on the battlefield to see.

As the Mara rises from the forest, a dark figure rises from the top of the mountain, casting a shadow over the Treasure Star. Spotting it out of the corner of your eye, you spin the Crusader around to make sure you aren't seeing some violent hallucination.

Standing on top of the mountain is a massive mobile suit, bigger then anything you've ever seen. It has guns, cannons, and weapons strapped to nearly every square inch of it's body, even it's fingers and knees have cannons built into them. Maybe even it's eyes are just focusing lens for high powered lasers.

This suit is so massive it's nearly as big as the Treasure Star, casting a visible shadow on the ground as it stands atop the mountain looking down on everyone.

It would be terrifying and intimidating if it weren't for one thing.

It was painted pink.

Not just pink, but pink with flowers, rabbits, and puppies painted onto it. Everything intimidating about it, from it's size, it's demonic look, to the ridiculous amount of weapons were made completely and utterly moot by the fact that this death machine was painted up like the side of some teeanger's van.

Seeing the Pink Destroyer you literally burst out laughing, probably laughing harder then you ever laughed before in your entire damn life. You were gasping for air and trying to stop then something, or rather, several things struck the Crusader and sent you jerking around in your seat.

I am entirely okay with our getting hammered because we were too busy laughing at Lacus. This was a good way to salvage this, Crosswire. Because no matter how much damage Terminal deals to us, it will never change the fact that she has a pink Destroy Gundam. Jake can die happy, having seen that.

(Yeah, the Mars Birthday Project around 50 years before the Silver Chalice was signed. The Colony Nation wars came after that, and resulted in the signing of the Silver Chalice which banned over half of the tech that was used during the war. It's also at the end of the war that they hid away the EXA-DB alongside SID. The AGE calendar was established, and around a hundred years of peace followed before the Vagans attacked.)

Also, God damn it Lacus, a pink Destroy Gundam?
>>
>>30723324
Hey now, lets not wave death flags around here.

Besides, seeing Asemu drunk hit on Dirk was probably just as funny. We should still take a couple of pictures of it, though. They won't believe us back home.
>>
>>30723233
The Freedom's you had accidentally turned your back on had managed to take advantage of the situation and nail the Crusader with everything they had.

By the time the violent thrashing stops you find the Crusader slowly dropping to the ground, it's limbs blown clean off, it's armor melted and warped, it's head danging by wires from it's neck, and numerous holes peppering the Crusader's back.

Only the charred, warped wings of the Legend Wear were keeping the Crusader from crashing into the ground and killing Jake from the fall.

"Jake!" Daiki cried, seeing the Crusader brutalized by the attack.

"It's-pink. I...can't believe...they painted that...PINK!" You say between coughs, as smoke fills your cockpit and you fumble to close your helmet.

"Hahaha! Now do you see how powerful Terminal is? Don't you see how amazing and great I am? Cower before my Destroy Gundam and all it's power!" Lacus asks, proceeding to laugh at Jake only to have her laugher drowned out by the 40 year old's laughter.

"Pink! I can't believe you actually had it painted like that!"

"It's supposed to show..."

"That you're five years old? That's thing isn't a Gundam! It's a kindergarten painting project gone horribly wrong! How the fuck did you people take over the world?" You struggle to focus on what happened to the Crusader and how Barry is about to fire the Mara's main gun, but you just can't get over how bloody ridiculous the pink "Destroy" Gundam is.

"Shut up! Just shut up!" Lacus points the arms of the Destroy Gundam down at the slowly descending Jake, getting ready to fire as a blind light fills the battlefield.

"Now you'll see it! This is what I wanted! This is what I DREAMED of since you took her from me! This is my gift to you Lacus Clyne! A one way trip to OBLIVION!!!!!!" Barry shouts, laughing sadistically as a massive ball of beam energy is launch from the Mara and into the side of Terminal's mountain fortress.

>>30723484
I personally have no problem with retconning that to be "50 years before the story begins" instead, because if the Mars Colonies were there for 150 years then it introduces too many plot holes about why the Vagans waited so long. Even assuming the colonies were wiped out then, too, that still raises a lot of questions. Like why no one noticed the rebuilding. Keeping the existence of Vagan secret for fifty years is a stretch, but plausible if you assume a conspiracy. Keeping it secret for one hundred and fifty is dumb. It also raises questions of how anyone in Vagan still believes that their suffering is because of the Mars Rays. They've had a century and a half to rebuild and no one's managed to correct the radiation shielding yet? Keeping your society focused on military buildup for revenge might work for a while, but not that long.
>>
>>30723616
The rock disappears along with everything else the blinding ball of light touches. Inside Terminal soldiers burst into flame moments before the Mara's attack disintegrated them. DOM Troopers, ZAKUs, and the fetus of fresh Kira clones were reduced to nothing.

The mere shockwaves of the attack, tore Lacu's Destroy Gundam apart and sent it crashing back down into the hole it had risen out of. Not before firing a single beam cannon blast at the defenseless Crusader however.

Jake was disoriented, and unable to control the Crusader while everyone else was blinded by the sheer intensity of
the Mara's attack.

For a moment it looked like Jake was about to die...when the Grand Wing System kicked on.

>Help. You. Not. Friends.

>Why?

>They. Don't. Need. Help. You. Do.

Amidst the blinding light and the death of Lacus Clyne, the Treasure Star and everyone around it vanished.

Daiki, Treasure Star and it's crew were sent hurtling towards their next destination through the time tunnel as the poor individuals picked up in the wake of the Grand Wing system were launched out of the tunnel and into other times and dimensions entirely.

Jake had passed out and Ma G had shut down due the insane barrage of information overwhelming her, leaving the Crusader to spin violently out of the Time Tunnel and out into space.

And them destroying colonies instead of capturing them and dragging them back to Second Moon for the materials and supplies they sorely need doesn't? Vagans are insane like that. They haven't even established a forward base yet - or they did in our timeline, we just haven't dealt with it yet.

As for the colony thing, keep in mind that those colonies were, according to Desil, attacked and almost destroyed. The Feds probably assumed no one survived, and just forgot about the entire incident. Meanwhile, the Vagans started to rebuild with what little materials they had, which probably took them ages. So they established the base for their future civilization, and then began focusing on getting their revenge after that.

Also, don't forget that the AGE Feds are so messed up with bureaucracy and corruption that they deliberately sabotaged everyone trying to help them with the war effort because of how bad it'd make them look in the process. They still have noble houses who try to outdo each other, for God's sake.

WE FUCKED UP
>>
>>30724101
Eh...I guess. I just have trouble believing that they were destroyed so thoroughly no one could detect them but not so thoroughly that they couldn't rebuild, And I'm not talking about a dedicated reconnaissance effort. I just mean passive observation. There weren't any astronomers that noticed the odd levels of heat and radio waves being emitted from near Mars? It would have to be covered up. Doing that for a few decades seems plausible. Doing it for a century and a half is going too far. Eventually, someone is going to notice that any infrared telescope looking at Mars only produces nonsense data.

Also, it makes Ezelcant very odd. The pre-war Federation didn't know about X-Rounders. Ezelcant is all about them. He's been around since the beginning of Vagan, so he would have no knowledge of them aside from what he discovered independently. But if that's the case, how does he use the same terminology as Federation researchers into it? Spies sent to the Earth Sphere over the years? I don't know, I'm sure it can all be explained. I just think that having Vagan have existed for that long raises too many questions.

107 Scans and still nothing.

Unless Jake was lying at the bottom of the deepest darkest ocean, or behind Pluto he was not in the solar system anymore.

Why hadn't he destroyed that strange ship the moment Jake came back from Vagan with it? Jake was a genius and he didn't doubt his intelligence for a moment, but even Jake couldn't develop something like that ship in secret. In his own arrogance he wanted to believe that Jake had built it when he was just a child, back when his reach was still so limited.

Now it was obvious that Jake hadn't built it. That ship was an outside influence, something that didn't belong in this world. His systems and calculations pointed to that but he didn't want to believe it. He didn't want to admit there was something else outside of his control.

Because of his inability to see the truth he had lost Jake. One of the three he had chosen to be a witness to his rise to godhood. He had trusted in Jake's intelligence and skill, deciding to tolerate his meddling and the unintentional disruptions his good will caused.

He left Jake to his own devices and now he was gone. Ether dead or somewhere even his quantum processors couldn't convenience of.

For a moment self termination crosses his thought processes. It was ridiculous, but his emotions had always come before his reasoning. Even if he integrated himself into everything and everyone, how could he consider himself King after failing to protect the one he brought back into this world?

He had failed Jake a second time.

Just as the commands were in place to short out his core he was alerted to something.

The 108th scan had picked up something near Earth Orbit. A suit. The Savior Gundam, or what was left of it. He immediately trained every eye he could take control of on that single spot. Telescopes, communication arrays, ancient satellites, putting all his processing power into deducing the state of the suit.

>>
>>30724485
Yeah. Crosswire mentioned it on twitter. Calling it "Id" was a mistake. He meant "Ide".
>>
>>30724251
My guess is that the original colonists dug into the asteroid (maybe even one of Mars' moons) that'd become Second Moon to hide from the radiation first. That'd at least provide them with some cover from prying eyes.

Then the war came along, some noble houses from the EFF space flee alongside whatever tech they can muster, and help them in the rebuilding process if they let them stay. To hide from potential persecutors, they set up a few IUS systems, alongside SIN and whatever else they could scrounge up. They set up SIN as the central computer, which is a grave mistake considering how its primary objective is to fuck the Feds up. So SIN begins planning a military action, and prepares the colonists for the eventual war against Earth.

As for the spies, it's possible that the original colonists had someone back home who held a grudge against the noble houses for killing or abandoning the Mars colonists. The noble houses can control the media and information, but they can't make the people forget what happened.

"Brought back"? This has something to do with why Jake looks so much like Arthur, doesn't it? I wonder what grandma and grandpa Crocker have to say about this. Because it sounds like Jake was made, not born. Are we a clone?
>>
>>30724582
God I hope not. I hope Jake isn't another Kira clone or something like that.

Jake was alive! Unconscious and injured but alive and back in his sight!

MADNUG, or what had become of her after the memory wipe was also intact but in a powered down state.

With the current state of the Savior or "Crusader" as Jake had named it, Jake was going to die. Ether the suit would depressurize and explode from the damage it had sustained, or Jake would run out of oxygen and die in his unconscious state.

MADNUGs leftovers wouldn't recover in time to send out a warning, so he would have to save Jake.

But that was alright. He was glad Jake was home where he belonged.

A secret Leviathan outpost was nearby, an order to his beloved Puppet and a threat to kill that wrinkled old engineer in stasis would get her to send someone to rescue Jake.

And once he was rescued Jake would never be in danger again.

He had already formulated a plan, the psychological stress of Flit Asuno, the vulnerability of Emily Dyson, and Jake's bleeding heart antics towards the Vagans gave him everything he needed to ensure Jake would remain alive and well to see him become King.

Arthur felt happy for the first time in a hundred years...

>(And this is where we'll end things. But first! Epilogues in regards to your effect on the dimensions you traveled too!)

Jake and Arthur finally meet face to face.
Father and son.
>>
>>30724765
Well, yes, obviously. That's been foreshadowed a lot. If it's not the case it's at least very close to what will happen. I just mean after that. How's Arthur going to ensure Jake's never in danger again? That sounds very ominous. But it's going to play on Jake's sympathy for the Vagans, so maybe it won't be too bad? Like, maybe he'll be put in a place where he can do some good, and that will keep him out of the way so no one's coming after him? And what will Rysis do, now? How will this affect her own plans to keep Jake safe? Will a revealed cyborg Scarlet and an awakened Dirk mount a rescue mission? Argh, why must this ending leave me with so many questions? Damn you, Crosswire, you magnificent bastard!

Also, if you're right, how gross will that retroactively make Rysis be? Has she been pretending to hit on Jake all this time for the sake of keeping the ruse that she doesn't know anything about his origins? Creepy.

2308 A.D
Fort Pintris Nevada, Former Union Territory.

Graham Aker had launched as soon as he heard Pintris was under siege. He was expecting to find a burned out base and his comrades massacred by Celestial Being, but instead he saw the base was untouched.

Landing, he pulled his Flag into the hanger and rushed inside the base to find the soldiers were cheering, several of them were drinking while just about everyone else was crawling over...Gundams.

"What the hell happened here?" Graham boomed, causing several of the drinking men to spit their drinks and bolt upright in a drunken salute.

"The Gundams have been defeated sir!" One of them announced.

"They have? How did you do this?" Graham demanded, looking at the mangled and mutilated suits.

He had destroyed Gundam's before. First the black Gundam, then the one that killed Howard, but after they began to 'intervene' in swarms it became difficult just to hold ground.

"W-we didn't do this sir..." The soldier responded.

"Then who did!?"

"A ship did. A golden ship came out of nowhere and began assisting us. The suit that destroyed the Gundams looked like a Gundam, but it didn't give off the same particles. It cleaved the Gundam to pieces, went back to it's ship, and...vanished."

Graham stared the man in the eyes, as it digging into his soul to find the truth.

"Did this Not-Gundam leave anything behind?" Graham asked.

"Yes. We found two weapons out in the desert. They appear to be energy weapons, but they don't appear to utilize the particles the Gundams do."

The soldier walked him over to the rifle and saber lying against the hanger wall. They definitely looked like weapons the Gundams would use...but they seemed different.

"Our engineers say these beam weapons are surprisingly simple. With modifications we could arm Flags, Enacts, and even Tierans with them provided we can get the materials."

>(Continued)

>>30724967
Jake you're a dick for not siding with celestial being!
>>
>>30724967
"Are you sure what attacked these Gundams looked like a Gundam?" Graham asked again.

"Yes sir. It had the same kind of face and everything, it just looked...different."

Graham found it hard to believe that a Gundam would turn on it's own. They had come out of nowhere and began intervening in wars around the world.

Then they began to attack bases, then factories, then they began razing capitals and crushing any sign of resistance.

In a year they had forced the entire world to it's knees and Graham struggled to resist them...but now. Now they had a chance. If they could get the recovered Gundams and these weapons back to Billy they could finally begin to strike back against Celestial Being and end them once and for all.

"Pack your things and prep the transports. Today is the day we truly strike back..."

Moving the Crockers from the colonies onto Earth? He should know that keeping Jake and Mellis separate will only lead to trouble, so he might as well relocate them to a safe place, considering how so far only the colonies were attacked. Jake can still work from there as a scientist, but will be under observation.

>>30725010
Jake was drunk, both sides refused communication, and CB were the guys attacking.
Don't worry, it were some mass produced Gundams, not Setsuna and his team.
>>
>>30725079
Also, I think Celestial Being might be more firmly under Alejandro Corner's thumb in this timeline, if he hasn't given the GN Tau Drives to the major powers. Even if he's going to, the fact that the major powers have the tech they need to oppose the Gundams without the intervention of the Innovades means that the A-LAWS and all that mess probably won't be formed in this universe. So it's ultimately for the greater good.

“Yes. I looked for her till the Unicorn ran out of fuel. They took her…without Mineva the Neo Zeon cause is dead.”

The young Newtype looked to floor, defeated and empty but the blond only shook her head and laughed.

“Zeon isn’t the only one who believes the Titans and the Federation need to be stopped. Bach Concern has been supporting us since the end of the Second Neo Zeon War. Even with Anaheim’s monopoly they aren’t the only company with power…”

Banagher looked up and stared at the women, confusion mixing with the anger and sadness he felt.

“Who are you?” He demanded.

Terminal was done. With the death of Lacus Clyne and the fall of Terminal’s headquarters the Caste System they had in place folded like a house of cards. It took years to hunt down and exterminate Terminal’s remnants, but in the end they had succeeded in spite of everything.

The Earth was scarred, the people’s spirits were wounded, and there was very little in the way of infrastructure and government left after the fighting was over. Despite all of that Campbell had hope for the future. If a stranger with nothing to gain and everything to lose would give their life to help them, why couldn’t they put aside their petty differences and learn to live in peace?

Campbell was old and tired. He had lost so much and now he merely wanted to enjoy the last few years of the life he had left. The future was in good hands, the people were sick of fighting and the notion of peace through force disgusted everyone who had lived under Terminal’s reign. He had no idea how or if ‘peace’ could be accomplished, but he had a feeling that everyone would try and make it work.

In the end, peace was something that could only be achieved through understanding and no amount of weapons, laws, or men could compensate for a lack of that understanding.

But Campbell didn't want to think about peace anymore, he just wanted to enjoy it. He had earned that much…

(And this is where I'll end things. I hope you guys had fun! Sorry if my grammar and writing slipped a bit, it's late and I'm exhausted)

We'll survive. That's the Crocker curse. And it'd either end up as ZZ (with Arthur's Counterattack as the Gen-4) or it'd go full Victory because the Vagans stopped fucking around and Rysis sabotaged the only chance the Federation had by stopping Arthur.

And the Crockers (Kings?) and Asunos will be there, same as a hundred years ago.

Arthur apparently wants witnesses for his apotheosis. So far, he has three - Jake is one of them, and I assume the other two are Dirk and probably Mellis or Rysis. And the grey goo scenario might happen, considering how he now has both the technology for a nanoswarm and the SENTINEL system to control it.

That's why we need to prioritize finding the EXA-DB before the Vagans do. And getting Arthur to help us.
Lesser of two evils and all that.

We still have the Gen-2 epilogue to go through, so there will be DESPAIR when Dirk wakes up.

>black Gundam

Yeah that's an Innovade gundam color alright. It's either a black GRM Gundam or a black Plutone.
