You are the PRODUCER, a former soldier hired to manage a group of teenage girls on their rise to stardom, assuming they don't get killed in the process!

Well, today was a new day, and with it came new opportunities! You walk into the office feeling refreshed, and just as always, Jenner is there waiting for you.

"We have a lot to do today, Producer." Jenner says flatly. "What would you like to get started on?"

Gentlemen, our best researchers have come to a revelation regarding Clover Entertainment that will interest all of you. Our lead researcher, Dr. Samuel Krochenkickerston, will share his theory. Doctor?

(Con't)
>>
>>30722189
It is in my belief that the idols of Clover Entertainment either have the genetic memories or even the reincarnations of famous people in history, but have yet to unlock their progenitor's skills and knowledge. Our legion of researchers have determined the progenitors of the current line-up: Rochelle Wade was Sun Tzu, the famous Chinese strategist; Julie was Saint Joan of Arc, who led the French against the English; Rin was Emperor Nero, the one who "fiddled while Rome burned"; and Cole was (most worryingly) Elizabeth Bathory, otherwise known as The Blood Countess.

It doesn't stop there, even the staff may be more than they seem. There are rumours circulating amongst the researchers that "The Producer" is the reincarnation of the Unknown Soldier, and when I mean the Unknown Soldier, I mean every single one of them; amalgamating as a single being.

This may seem like a complete coincidence, but make no mistake, Clover Entertainment is a nexus where "certain people" are gathering for an unknown purpose. Almost as if the enigmatic Boss is trying to fulfill "The Prophecy".

"Morning, Jenner. I'm going to check on the girls." You say, going up the stairs. "I'll be back in a bit!"

"Take your time." Jenner nods.

Upstairs, you see your idols in the midst of eating breakfast. Cole and Julie were dueling over the last sausage, their forks clashing and clanging as they tried to gain an advantage. Rin meanwhile was just watching with an amused look on her face. Rochelle still seemed to be a bit down, and you see she's hardly eaten from her plate. You suppose she was still a bit shaken up from the previous mission, where she made her first kill.

/k/ here, wanted to share some thoughts.

Idoling is where the money is and while there is a lot of money in mainstream appeal our key growth potential right now is in less competitive relatively untapped markets of nontraditional idol fans. Appealing to delinquents, motorcycle gangs, street racers, and general punks and outcasts AS WELL AS mainstream idol fans is our best bet to get a lot of money and influence quickly. Plus unifying counter-culture movements is a great way to start a revolution if that is your thing.

ANYWAY, let's talk about small unit tactics. For our purposes the basic combat unit is the modern infantry fire team, composed of a team leader, rifleman (DM), rifleman (GL), and automatic rifleman. Considering the relatively low-intensity and short range nature of our missions, these roles are somewhat flexible. The most basic and generally effective combat tactic of the fireteam is to operate as a pair of two man elements in fire and maneuver. The team leader and automatic rifleman form the base of fire element, engage, and suppress the enemy from a distance, while the two riflemen advance on and directly engage the enemy. I don't know if it was an accident or not but this is actually exactly what our team did in the last mission, to great effect. Over longer engagement ranges, the two elements will switch between moving and providing a base of fire/overwatch.

These basic tactics are not universally applicable. Room clearing and similar very short range engagements require the whole team to be moving and shooting simultaneously, in these situations watching and coordinating arcs and lines of fire is critical.

On that note it may be advisable to designate one of the girls as the 'team leader' to give direction in the event communications are jammed or we are otherwise unable to provide orders.

>>
>>30722865
I think we sort of made Rochelle team leader early on because she was the most level headed of our combat idols. As of now, I'm not sure she's in the right condition to be leading at the moment.

This guy knows what's up. We need dedicated squad roles, though I'd add "hacker" to his list.

"Those eggs do something to upset you?" You say playfully as you take a seat next to Rochelle.

"What? Ah, not really, sir." Rochelle shakes her head. "I'm just not too hungry right now."

"Well, if you don't want eggs, you can always opt for sausage." You grin as your augmented arm shoots out in a flash, spearing the last sausage with an appropriate fork. Cole and Julia don't even realize what's happened until it's too late.

"Come on, Rochelle, eat up. Training eats up a lot of calories."

"If you say so, sir." Rochelle nods absentmindedly as she takes a bite.

"H-Hey! That was mine!" Cole says angrily.

"No, it was mine!" Julie grunts.

They glare at each other, and then realize they both have a common enemy and turn their collective glares at you.

"That sausage was OURS." They both say.

"Not my fault you both were tunnel visioning. You laugh. "Anyways, it's almost time for practice to start. You all better start getting ready!"

As the other idols leave the table, you pull aside Rochelle just for a second.

"Rochelle, if you're still bothered about what you did that mission, you really should talk to Lillith about it."

"Thanks, sir, I think I will." Rochelle nods before moving off to follow her fellow idols.

You sigh. Rochelle was a sweet kid. Maybe a bit too sweet. She needed to get over this hump soon if she was ever going to have a future as an idol.

Anyways, you still got many things to do.

The roles are flexible. Our automatic rifleman is currently a dog, we have no grenade launcher or marksman weapon, and one of our riflemen has a riot shield instead of a rifle.

I should also note that considering that our idols are not soldiers fighting a war and also that they are young girls, we should remember that the best way to not get shot is to avoid combat in the first place. Amicable relationships with competing companies and making more dosh through singing and dancing reduces the amount of shooting we have to get involved in and gives us the freedom to be pickier about the kind of missions we take on on the side.

You head on back to your office to discuss the next round of potential jobs with Jenner. As always, you find her at her desk working diligently on keeping the company's operations running smoothly.

"Hey, Jenner, do we have any new jobs set up for us?" You ask.

"Yes, we do have one that is particularly interesting." Jenner says. "We've actually been contacted by NBC. We're being invited for an interview segment on the Tonight Show, and a single song performance."

"Whoa, really?" You blink. "We haven't even done all that much, yet."

"That video of Cole beating up a bunch of jocks has been the top trending video on Youtube for at least a week already." Jenner says. "I wouldn't be surprised if people started getting curious."

"And the money we stand to make?"

"They're willing to pay us 5000 for the trouble." Jenner shrugs. "Not exactly a king's random, but not exactly modest, either."

"...but you've got your concerns, don't you?" You ask. You knew at this point to recognize the signs of when Jenner was holding something back.

"Well, I just might want to advise caution." Jenner sighs. "You and the idols will be appearing on network cable. That's a lot of exposure. If our rivals didn't know we existed, they will the moment you step in front of that camera. I'm just wondering if you're ready for that kind of risk."

"So what, are you saying that we should cancel?"

If Rin is taking part in a fight then things have already gone completely to shit. The whole reason we got three combat idols and a cyber-hound is so that our idol doesn't have to fight.
She doesn't have any combat skills because her time is too valuable as our star idol to use on combat training instead of dancing and singing.
>>
>>30723449
>We'll be going ahead with the interview, then.
>>
>>30723368
Rin doesn't do combat.

The cyberdog with the heavy machinegun is the automatic rifleman.

Unlikely Cop and Delinquent pair Julie and Cole form the maneuver element. Their friendship can be played up on stage for marketing reasons because holy shit it's great for that.

Our missions are unlikely to require a designated marksman, and if they do Rochelle is probably the most qualified to take long shots unless the dog has a sniper package.

"We'll go ahead with the interview." You say. "It's an opportunity we simply can't pass up."

"Understood." Jenner nods.

"Anyways, what exactly can we expect in terms of attacks from rival idols?" You ask.

"Well, there's a whole range of threats to consider, especially since some companies prefer certain tactics over others." Jenner sighs. "But, there are a few basic ones to watch out for: Espionage, Theft, Sabotage, and Propaganda, all of which can be achieved physically or electronically. For espionage, other companies may try to spy on our activities. For theft, other companies may try to steal our songs and choreography, or other assets that are important to us. Sabotage involves them destroy our assets, or try to set up concerts to fail. Propaganda may also be used to try and destroy another company's reputation."

"Assassination?"

"Like I said before, targeted assassination is highly discouraged. It sets a bad precedent." Jenner shakes her head. "But that doesn't rule out the possibility of idols getting hurt or killed during missions."

"I see." You nod. "Good thing I now a thing or two about all of those, then."

"That's exactly why we hired you." Jenner nods. "Now, back to the matter at hand, while all of our idols will be present to perform the song, you'll be expected to show up to the interview. You'll also be allowed to take one girl of your choice to appear in the interview as well."

You head down to the practice room, where Rin and the other idols were busy doing their daily routine. You quietly pull Rin out of the training session and bring her to the hall, where you tell her about the impending Tonight Show interview.

"Oh, well, I'm honored that you'd pick me, but..." Rin's voice falters.

"What's wrong, Rin?"

"Are you sure I'm the right choice? I mean, I'm not like the other girls." Rin sighs. "I'm not big and tough like Julie and Cole, and I'm not nearly as smart or cool as Rochelle. I just feel, well... normal."

Well, she sort of did have a point there, but even so, you feel it was a result of their wildly different skillsets, rather than any fault on Rin's part.

It's their job to back people like you up while you're the face of the show- both on stage, and by providing niche appeal while you anchor our target audience. I have a lot of faith in you."

"You're right." Rin snickers. "Cole would probably sock the host in the face if he asked the wrong question, and Julie is so clumsy she's bound to break something!"

"And I'm certain Rochelle would give up her spot to you if I ever tried to choose her." You say. "Like you said, she's smart. She knows that Clover Entertainment is centered around you, and that's why you need to be the face of our company."

"Yeah, you're right." Rin smiles and nods. "I'll do my best not to embarrass everybody, Producer."

"I'll hold you to that." You laugh. "Just be prepared to answer personal questions, and don't be afraid to answer with a joke of your own. People want to see you being funny and entertaining, not necessarily truthful."

"I'll keep that in mind." Rin nods.

"Okay, now go and finish up practice." You say, shooing her off.

"Actually, Falynn, I was wondering if you had any knowledge on security systems." You say.

"Oh, well, I do know a thing or two about them." Falynn nods. "But these days, they either go into one of two categories: absolute crap, or super expensive."

Well, that doesn't sound encouraging.

"I can give you the details later, but remember that Oracle system you gave to me to check on the other day?"

"Yeah, and seem to distinctly remember that it looked kinda stupid."

"Yeah, that's what happens when you put goddamn ivy-leaguers in charge of design. They don't know the first thing about it!" Falynn snorts. "Now look at THIS baby!"

"Well, your effort was not wasted, I can tell you that." You say as you flick on the lenses. Suddenly, the AR projection kicks in, and immediately the Oracle starts scanning for threats, immediately tagging K-Zwolf as a high level threat. At least you knew it worked.

"Very nice work."

You resolve to give the Oracle to Julie. She's often at the front of any charge anyways, so it'd be useful for her to spot threats quickly. You hand the Oracle back to Falynn, who carefully places it back in its protective case.

"Now, on that issue for security..." You say.

"Yeah, about that." Falynn sighs. "Like I said before, when it comes to security systems, you get what you pay for. The top of the line systems are honestly, way over our spending limit at the moment. What I CAN do is beef up our existing security. Smarter and more sensitive cameras, maybe a couple security drones, encrypted locks, and I should probably put all data storage on a closed local network. Unfortunately, I can't do much in the way of network security other than keeping our systems on a local network. That's not my specialty."

"I understand." You nod. "How much will cost."

"Hmmmm, parts and labor will probably cost somewhere in the range of 600 bucks." Falynn says. "A similar setup by a security company would probably cost you at least 1-2k."

You frown. You only have 3100 dollars in the bank right now. However, you figure this would be worthwhile investment.

You would've liked to actually personally meet the host, back when the Tonight Show actually employed a human host. You heard a lot of stories about the "greats" back in the old days, like Conan and Fallon and maybe even Leno. However, about a decade ago, NBC became the first network cable TV channel to use a utilize an AI as the host for the Tonight Show, compiled from data gathered from past flesh and blood hosts.

The results were... spotty to say the best. However, it was at least entertaining to see guests try to glitch him out to test the bounds of his AI programming.

Anyways, exploring time! Let's go!

"Well, let's hope the winds of fate do not bring us into conflict, yes?" DeRosa grins with synthetic mirth.

"But... if you have any tips on us gaining inroads into other districts, that might be mutually beneficial to us." You propose.

DeRosa then leans his head backward in laughter. Well, at least the laughter was genuine, unlike seemingly everything else about him.

"Oh, that's a good one. Helping a rival company? Very very funny! Either way, better to keep around the enemies I know, right? Well, if you'll excuse me, I must be going!"

With that, DeRosa waltzes off, giving you a smug grin and a wave as he does so. You then see him join up with three very tough looking girls, no doubt his idols.

What a dick. Working with other companies in the same business is hardly unthinkable- there are always reasons to subcontract, jobs that can't be taken by one's own company for practical reasons, favors to be traded. He's just being an ass.

Well, we can deal with that.

The Idol business is brutal, in the relentless competition for every single job sort of way.

Cyberpunk business is also brutal, in the send shadowrunners to upload a dickbutt virus to your opponent's servers right before a major event sort of way.

Now look at the thread title...

As far as it goes we're not even all that deep into the "punk," part.

The brutality of the business only means that it's more idiotic to cast aside potential resources. And yes, connections with another company are a potential resource. In this business there are plenty of uses for others doing similar work- as subcontractors, as scapegoats or patsies, as potential sources of poached talent.

K-Zwolf silently follows DeRosa and his little troupe. However, one of the girls suddenly spins around, staring directly in K-Zwolf's direction. The Cyberhound's programming kicks in and it immediately stops moving. The girl seems to stare at K-Zwolf's cloaked form for an eternity before DeRosa turns back around and snaps at her.

"Artemia, stop lagging behind!"

"Yes, Mr. Derosa." The girl nods and turns around, but still occasionally glances back at K-Zwolf's direction. Otherwise, she doesn't do anything else.

Boy, that was too close. As K=Zwolf continues to tail them, you return to the waiting room, where your idols are all dressed up and ready. Rin is already there waiting for you.

"Okay, you girls all ready?" You ask.

"Yes, Producer!" They all chime.

You check in on K-Zwolf again, which is silently tailing DeRosa. It seems like your Cyberhound is picking up audio.

"-yes, yes, while's out on camera, he won't be keeping an eye on his girls in the back. Just move in, quick and fast. No need to kill them... yet. Just rough them up and make sure they know Rose Entertainment is not to be trifled with."

Well shit.

You and Rin were due on in thirty seconds. You'd have to trust your girls to handle this one.

"Girls, we have a slight problem." You sigh. "Looks like we've got competition."

"About time!" Cole grins. "Let's beat em up!"

"Oh dear..." Rin shakes her head.

Force them so that the only time that they will find our girls is when they are in front of the cameras. And that works to our advantage due to Cole's video.

"All right, girls, we're going to use a bit of subterfuge to show them who's boss." You grin. "Jenner, arrange for the girls to be relocated to a new waiting room. Quietly, if you can."

"Got it, Producer." Jenner nods and herds the other girls out of the room.

You're about to bug out yourself, but you pause for a second when you get a devious idea. Grabbing a pen and a piece of paper, you quickly scribble in a little doodle with the word DICKBUTT scrawled all over it. You then set it on the table where they would be sure to see it.

Well, now it was time to go out on stage with Rin. You hurry over the ready area, where one of the backstage crew ushers you forward.

"You're on in three... two... one!"

"And joining us tonight, from the newly formed Clover Entertainment, it's the Producer and Rin Shibuya!" The holographic AI host, Falon says happily.

The two of you smile and wave as you walk in, taking a seat across from the artificial host.

"Now, Producer." Falon says, leaning forward. "I hear that your idols literally beat up an entire school! Now, was that all part of the performance, or did your idols really beat up a bunch of high school kids?"

"Well..."

No names. Some hoodlums were up to no good, started making trouble in the neighbourhood. Our girls weren't actin' a fool and we decided they should be booted out of school. Our audience didn't cry or pout. Instead they cheered as we kicked them out.

Then, go for the producer. Lock the attacking girls in the room they THINK our idols are in, and then go to the head of the problem - use Z-wolf to jam comms(we got the ewar package!), and ask the producer what he would give to have his girls back unharmed.

TLDR: avoid the thread, turn the situation to our advantage.

"No, we didn't beat up the ENTIRE school, but there were a few naughty students that tried to sabotage the event. We just showed them that they couldn't get away with stuff like that!"

"I see, I see! Well, boys will be boys, won't they?" Falon gives a holographic grin. "Now, Rin, I know you're the face of the group, but you're part of a four idol team! Anything you'd like to tell us about your fellow idols?"

Basically talk about the other girls kinda like we did earlier today, maybe offer a humorous anecdote to illustrate.

They're all pretty quirky so I'm sure there is a humorous story in there somewhere that the audience would find funny, and cause Cole to pout later

"I was afraid on how I was going to fit into this group. But in the end, I didn't need to worry. Because in the end, we are a team, and we are driven by our dreams of making it. Now, we are one of the most unique and interesting up and coming idol groups.
