Your name is Volkov Marulovich, and you are a strapping young man of 18. You have been under the tutelage of your master for 4 years now. You are a bone mage in training and have specialized in the art of crafting and using artifacts.

You currently have:

-38 silver, 1 gold (or 138 silver total)

-1 Enriched-steel Fraying Saber

-1 arquebus (3 fuses)

-1 iron boneburst pistol (5 lead balls and 4 marrow pellets)

-1 steel pulse dagger

-1 small spell focus pendant
>>
You awake hours later, a few beams of light from the setting sun poking through gaps in the floorboards above you. Heading up onto the deck of the boat, you see your master standing near the bow looking out over the water. In the distance you can see the towers of Xel'Karth glowing in the late day sun. Standing on the deck, you take in the warm air of the sea and relax a bit as the ship approaches the port. By the time you and your master disembark with your captive in tow the sun has just fallen below the horizon.

“Alright, Volkov, I'm taking Darrin here to headquarters, you head on home,” your master says as she hoists Darrin onto her shoulder and heads off towards the center of the city. You shrug and head off towards your master's home. Ever since she took you on as her pupil, you have been living with your master, as you had no real home of your own. On your way you pass by a few of the new magic powered carts that have recently begun to catch on. It's not too long of a walk since your master lives relatively near the waterfront.

It isn't long before you stand in front of the brick and mortar building you call home. The building, formerly a blacksmith's shop, was purchased by your master many years ago and converted into something resembling a more traditional home. Pulling out a key, you unlock the heavy front door and head inside. The inside is relatively spacious with sparse decorations. You head for the small workshop in the back of the building, not wanting to retire to your room for the evening just yet. Pulling out the horn from your pack you put it down on the workstation and get to prepping it for work, trimming down the jagged edges where the horn broke off from the main body. Once that task is complete you set about stripping down the arquebus for parts. By the time you have finished organizing your materials you hear your master entering the building. You hear her head off into her room, shouting a quick goodnight. Looking at the clock, you decide to follow her example, and head off to your room. Much like the rest of the building, your room is rather devoid of decorations, containing a bed, a dresser, a desk and a chair with not much else. There is a single window looking out into the city from your room, and in the distance you can see the harbor.

You wake up early the next day and get started on preparing breakfast, your master still sound asleep. After a bit off time and effort you have a simple breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast. As you dig in you hear a door slam open down the hall. You begin to eat more quickly, eying the doorway into the kitchen while you do so. At first the footsteps coming down the hall are slow and heavy, until there's a pause, followed by much quicker footsteps. Glancing down at your plate, you resign yourself to your fate with a deep sigh and push it away from your place at the table and get up. Moments later your master comes bursting into the kitchen, scanning the room for the food. She locks on to your plate and begins to dig into it ravenously.

You mutter a quiet “such is life” before setting about making more food for both you and your master. After the two of you are adequately full she speaks up.

“You did good work on that last job Volkov,” she says slowly, eyes wandering around the room lazily, “so I think you're finally ready to take contracts on your own.” Her eyes finally make contact with yours.

“Really? Are you really going to give me clearance for contract work?” The news almost seems to good to be true.

“I'm serious, I put in word last night when I was at headquarters. Of course, you're only permitted to take on some of the lesser jobs right now.” You deflate slightly at the clarification, but being able to take jobs independently is still a major step forward for you as a mage. Caught up in the excitement of this news, you almost forget something important.

“What about my cut of the pay from the contract,” you ask. Your master gets up and returns shortly with some large spines and a small pouch, from which you can hear the distinct clinking of coins.

“I've decided to give you most of the spines in exchange for most the gold,” she says dropping everything onto the table.

(You gained: 3 drake spines, 30 gold)

You grab up the spines and head off to the workshop, intent on making some new gear. If anything, your last job showed you the importance of having the proper equipment. Upon entering the shop, you place the bone meal and marrow you collected into separate beakers and activate the stands that they sit on with a bit of mana, liquifying the meal and making the marrow glow dully and become less viscous. You take the horn and place it into a special lathe designed to run on mana. Within an hour you have successfully bored a hole down the center of it, currently just big enough for a rifle barrel but still easily expandable.

Pulling out your designs that you drew up a few nights ago, you ponder which one you'll go with. You have many of the parts on hand for making the rifle because of the arquebus you captured and stripped, so purchasing the parts you still need would be cheap. On the other hand, if you decided to break it down into pistols you would need to go out and purchase more parts to complete them.

Turning your attention to the spines, you can think of a few things you could do with them. Your first option would be to make a staff out of them, used primarily for casting spells. The second option would be to use them for making a spear, which while also capable of casting spells would be less effective at it. Your last option would be to make a gauntlet out of them by liquifying and then molding them. This design has the smallest range of available spells that can be cast with it, but would take modules favorably as well as provide some armor.

yeah spear is lame, i chose gauntlet because we have enough weapons between our pistol, soon to be rifle, sword and dagger. On the other hand we have no armor.

Plus gauntlets are cool. Staffs are cool too, but we need the armor more I think.
>>
Deciding to make a rifle, you begin taking the parts you took from the arquebus and applying them to the horn, starting by boring out the center hole a bit more before lining it with some of the liquified bone meal before inserting the barrel from the arquebus. At the wider end of the horn you cut away a portion to attach the bonecharger mechanism, seating it with a bit of the liquified chips from the horn.

By the time you finish attaching the stock and sights, it has been nearly two hours since you started working. The only things missing from the rifle are the trigger assembly and any accessories that you want to attach. The trigger itself will be a relatively cheap item, but the accessory costs will be dependent on what you want for it.

(In this instance, accessories are like modules for firearms that add properties to the projectile being fired. An example of an accessory would be the marrow chamber on your pistol.)

Picking the spines back up, you begin the process of liquifying them. While they do so, you begin to carve a positive mold of a gauntlet for your left arm. By the time the spines have finished liquifying and condensing, you have a series of molds for the various parts that will make up the gauntlet. The design itself is relatively simple: a series of thinner segmented plates under a thicker outer plate on the forearm with a small plate that covers the back of the hand and knuckles. You pour the liquid bone into each of the molds and set them aside for the bone to harden. You decide now would be a good time to go and get the parts to finish making the rifle, as well as to see if there are any modules you'll want to include in the gauntlet. You leave a note on the workstation and head off to the market.

By the time you enter the market it is just past noon, with various merchants set up in stands along the road. Most sell normal items that you would find in almost any city in Kyelm, but as you get towards the back of it you start to see specialty items that one would expect to find in the city with the highest mage population in the known world: bones from rare and dangerous monsters, magical trinkets and various other mage-crafted odds and ends.

What do you do? You have 31 Gold and 38 silver

Can we visit more than one?

If not, will the gunsmith have anything good for the gauntlet?

If the answer to both of those is no, then go to the general artifer.
>>
>>30801396
Yeah, you'll be able to visit all of them, I'm more or less just asking to see which, if any, you want to see.

As for the gunsmith, he won't have anything for the gauntlet yet.
>>
>>30801433

>>

>>
Keeping in mind that you'll need at least 50 silver for the trigger mechanism for your rifle, you decide to peruse the wares of a non-specialized artificer. Spotting one such merchant, you walk over to the stand. The young man tending it looks at you for a bit before a look of recognition crosses his features, smiling wide.

“Volkov? Is that you?”

You look at the man for a bit before you catch sight of the scar across the bridge of his nose.

“Liam? I thought I heard you were taken on as an artificer's apprentice, seems the rumors were right,” you say, exchanging a vigorous handshake with the man.

“Yeah, the old bastard drives me hard but he's a good teacher. Not all of us were lucky enough to get taken by the legendary Elizabeth Relor,” Liam says, still grinning ear to ear.

“I wouldn't call that luck,” you respond. Pleasantries exchanged, Liam takes on a more business-like demeanor.

“Alright, as good as it is to see an old friend, I'm not exactly authorized to cut you a deal. However, I can probably open up some of the reserve stock for you if you can afford it.”

>>30802213
You don't have to have only defensive modules in the gauntlet.

As for multiples of of a module, it really depends on what it is but generally it will cause the effect to scale linearly.

>>30802276
I have a character sheet for Volkov actually, but it's not in a pastebin yet. I'll probably put it up at the end of the session.

Also, unless I've miscounted, votes are:
1 for shatter
2 for barrier
2 for mana pack
1 for healer
>>
>>30802377
>You don't have to have only defensive modules in the gauntlet.
I know, but I'd like them in there. Offense is what we have guns for. And the dagger. And saber.

>1 for healer
2 for healer actually.

Something's come up and I'll have to stop running for now, but I'll pick up in a few hours when I'm free again. Sorry to do this but I got kind of blindsided here.
>>
>>30802377

Can we grab two Mana Packs to put in the rifle? Is it strong enough to withstand that sort of force?

Also, I agree wholeheartedly with the Barrier and Healer augs, but I think we should pick up the shatter and an impact or two also because they would synergize perfectly. We'd have one buckler gauntlet and one hitting gauntlet.

We should also consider buying mana packs to use in conjunction with the barrier module and/or impact+shatter module combo.
>>
Anyone think we should mark down our choices for here, but not buy them yet so we can go to the gunsmith and compare?
>>
>>30803401

I can get behind that. If this general artificer has all this nice stuff then i'd like to see what the gun-particular artificer has. It'd be a shame if we spent all our gold here, and then didn't't have the money to deck out our sniper rifle.
>>
I wonder if we, as a Shaper, can figure out how to use normally melee modules with firearms.

Imbuing a sniper rifle bullet that's been boosted by mana packs and possibly marrow chambers with an impact effect and the shatter module would be pretty devastating.
>>
Gauntlet (Right)
>1 Impact Module
>1 Pulse Module
>1 Shatter Module

Gauntlet (Left)
>Barrier Module

Total: 15 gold (16 gold left)

Mana Packs are implants not modules I just realized. So we probably can't put them in weapons/armor until we're skilled enough to convert them.

Additionally:
>Medium Spell Focus
(We don't know any useful sustained spells yet, but I don't think we should pass up something like this for a trifling 1 gold)

>Healer's Charm
Not sure this is quite as useful as it seems, as we'd probably be doing most of our healing out of combat, but it's probably worth buying so later on we can try and extract its magic and try and make more useful things out of it.

>Mana Pack
Self explanatory.

Total: 9 gold (7 gold left if we go with the augs for the gauntlet too)

We should probably wait until we go see the gunsmith before we buy anything, this would deplete our entire supply of gold.
>>
>>30804699
>We don't know any useful sustained spells yet
What about the cooly thing?
>>
>>30804555
Mundane materials don't hold a magical charge. If you infused a lead bullet with magic from a module the magic would be gone before it reached the target.

If you really want to fuck shit up I think we'll need to make our own bullets out of bone.
>>
>>30804699
I would vote against Shatter Module. I know it could be useful. It's too expensive. We could buy 10 Impact modules for the same price.

I'd rather spend that extra money on either a bad ass sniper rifle or a revolver.
>>
>>30805020
>>30805020
I agree. >>30802217
was my vote.
Shatter doesn't really seem useful, we'd need to hit the same place twice. Better to have more power and break through on the first try.
>>
Alright, I'm back now.

>>30804555
>>30804786
Actually, some of the accessories that the gunsmith has are similar to modules that you see on melee weapons, although instead of imbuing projectiles with spells it's more like passing the projectile through an effect filter, I.E. making your shots red hot or ice cold.

>>30804699
Pulse is more of a module meant for edged weapons, but you could still put it into a gauntlet if you wanted.
>>
>>30805244
this is all great stuff but lets pass buy a specialized dealer.
get to know the stock we want, and spend the rest of the money we have left at our buddies place once we get what we need for our rifle.
>>
>>30805284
I dunno. I like the barrier module.
>>
Why don't we get the shatter for our rifle so we can shoot a spot and then shatter it with our gauntlet? Or am I missing something?
>>
>>30805364
I think that combo is horribly inefficient.
>>
>>30805364
We already have a sword that has a shatter power. Seem redundant.
>>
>>30802217
I vote this except we should get two barrier modules. (one for each arm)
>>
“What's that?” You ask pointing to a small disk on the shelf, no wider than a coin but twice as thick as one.

“Oh, that's one of those implant artifacts, the kind that you attach to your skeleton. They require some special tools to put in, but the process is relatively painless. What that one does is increase your mana reserves.”

Thinking that such a thing would be handy, you purchase it, along with a barrier module and a ring that's advertised to make casting healing spells easier. Placing your purchases into your bag, you head off towards the gunsmith.

(Gold spent: 11. New total: 20 gold, 38 silver)

Instead of having a simple stand near the road, the gunsmith that you prefer to go to has a more permanent storefront. The faded lettering over the front door spells out the name “Serold's mageworks.” Entering the building you spot the proprietor of the establishment standing behind the worn oak countertop. She sees you looking around and waves you over with a smile.

“Good to see you, Volkov, how'd that latest job with Liz go?”

“Pretty well, but there were some complications on the return trip,” you respond. “You hear about Danmorm?”

“Yeah, everyone did. Wait, you don't mean...?”

“Yes, that would be the complication,” you say sighing.

“I thought the details of it smelled of Liz's work. Anyway, I don't think you're here just to talk, what do you want?”

“I need a trigger for a bonecharge mechanism.” She whistles in surprise at this.

“Bonecharge, that's a bit rare. I think I have a couple triggers for those in stock, it'll run you 63 silver,” she says looking through a ledger containing prices for her various wares.

“That's a bit expensive for just a trigger.”

“Bonecharge triggers are more difficult to make than standard boneburst,” she says with a shrug.

(Gold total remaining: 19, silver: 38)

Grumbling about the price, you hand over the payment and ask about what else she has in stock.

>>30805999
The rifle can handle up to 3 accessories right now. It's a lot sturdier than the pistol is so one chamber can be used without issue repeatedly, however using two chambers at once mutliple times would cause a roll to have to be made, unless you spent extra resources on beefing up the body of it.
>>
>>30805999

That'd actually come out to 12 gold, but I agree with it anyway.

The Seismic wouldn't affect our accuracy, would it?
>>
>>30806118

>>30806155
Only a bit at long ranges. Also, you don't have to use the accessories on every shot if they're installed, you have to consciously activate them because they will cost extra mana per shot.

>We haven't actually faced anything yet that would necessitate having a seismic over another marrow chamber

I would like to point out that you hit the beetle with double powered up pistols on top of being at close range on top of rolling a 28.

Also, pistol can only take 1 accessory at the moment, so you could theoretically buy something new for it and re-use the old chamber.
>>
>>30806188

How about this? >>30806214

It'd cost 12 gold. We'd have 7 left to buy a couple of impact modules, the medium spell focus (which we really ought to pick up, it's a steal at that price), and a shield module.

He would know, yes. It would cost another 10 gold in parts but he would know how to do it.

>>30806363
It requires more than just raw material to beef it up to that point, he would need specially made parts.

I suppose it would make sense. If the pistol is a back up weapon, then you don't want to have to waste time loading the Marrow chamber to fire.

But I would rather buy two Seismic Chargers. One for each gun. It just seems more useful than the fire one.
>>
>>30806659
So
>buy 2 seismic, the ee scope
>Take the marrow out of the pistol, put it in the rifle
>Put 1 seismic in the pistol
>Put 1 seismic in rifle
>scope on rifle
>>
>>30806567
I change this vote to:
>Two Seismic Chargers: 6 gold
>Eagle's Eye scope: 5 gold

One seismic charger per gun. Marrow chamber and scope with the rifle.
>>
>>30806710
Sounds good.
>>
>>30806710
Yes, this is what I was planning.
>>
Alright then, so that's 1 scope, 2 chargers then? Writing.
>>
>>30806710

I'm leery of the decrease in accuracy at range that the seismic will cause on our rifle, but I can agree to this because it seems like a fair compromise.

Let's go browse the general wares now. I'd like to pick up some impact or pulse modules too for augmenting our sword/dagger.
>>
>>30806776
>I'm leery of the decrease in accuracy at range that the seismic will cause on our rifle
If we're in a situation where accuracy is more important than penetration, then we can choose not to use the seismic for that shot.
>>
>>30806783

Good point.
>>
>>30806783
T hought it was always on so we cqn activate at will?
>>
>>30806879

Saucy mentioned that we have to consciously activate it using our mana.
>>
>>30806879
see >>30806183
> Also, you don't have to use the accessories on every shot if they're installed
>>
>>30806776

Yeah, I want to pick up some impact modules. Maybe another barrier too. Seems like a waste to have unused slots in our gauntlets.
>>
After thinking for a long time on it, you tell shopkeeper that you would wish to purchase one of her telescopic scopes as well as two of her Seismic Charger units. After paying for the goods you give her a wave goodbye as you walk out through the door.

(8 gold, 75 silver remaining)

You decide to swing by Liam's stall again to see about picking up some more modules for your gauntlets.

(Your gauntlets will be able to hold 2 modules each at the moment, you already have a Barrier module)
What do you get?
>Impact module (1 gold)
>Pulse module (1 gold)
>Barrier module (3 gold)
>Shatter module (10 gold)
>>
>>30807036

1 Barrier module (will that increase the size or potency if combined with the other)
2 Impact modules.
>>
>>30807036
I really want to just go with 4 Barriers.

Impact seems really worthless.
>>
>>30806913
We have both a sword and dagger for melee weapons. As tempting as it is, it might be prudent to save some money for the future. If something gets damaged in the next fight having money to fall back on would be nice.
>>
>>30807036
Will multiple barriers on a single gauntlet make the barrier stronger?
>>
>>30807076

Our master would disagree.
>>
>>30807072
>>30807076
You realize that you don't pay the mana for one Barrier module and have the other(s) get the benefit of it, do you? You have to put in mana into all of the modules that you want active.

>>30807095
It would, but the mana toll would be greater, as well.
>>
>>30807036

How many slots does the sword have?
>>
>>30807036
>>30807076
If we have two Barriers in each gauntlets would we be able to activate all four at once?
>>
>>30807128

that'd probably be too much mana.
>>
>>30807125
The sword was custom made for its module, meaning it doesn't have any extra slots.
>>
>>30807152
Makes me sad.

Since we have two melee weapons I'm not sure about the Impact or Pulse modules. But another Barrier might be nice. One on each hand so that if one arm gets injured we could still defend with the other.
>>
>>30807128
Yes, although again, you run into the issue of using up a lot of your mana pool in a single turn.

Alright, final votes link to this post, please.
>>
>>30807235
I think a barrier in each is enough.

>>30807235

We don't really need anything else. We have four weapons already.

Whats are current armor like?
if we dont have any we shoukd invest in something light like reinforced leatger or scale
>>
>>30807343
*Something like reinforced leather or scale*
>>
>>30807343
We have the gauntlets we just made and the clothes on our back I think
>>
>>30807343
Armor isn't used that much these days except by some mages and people that regularly hunt the more dangerous monsters that roam the land. Mundane armor that protects against bullets is either too expensive or too bulky for common soldiers.
>>
>>30807382
We must invent bone kevlar then!
>>
>>30807412
Don't we have uhhh, magic for that?
>>
>>30807412
inventing is our specialty. but we would prolly need to spend a few turns brain storming ideas. and building up to a kevlar bone armor.
but I am sure that shouldn't be an issue.

>>30807382
How do we gain more shaper levels?
using module's? making items? and if you don't mind could we see what the skills we have in our primary focus is?
>>
>>30807412
Silk worked well back in the days of black powder firearms. Cost a lot though.
>>
>>30807471
You gain levels in shaper (up to 3) by making and using items. For levels 4 and 5 you gain experience by crafting higher tier items as well as undergoing special training. I'll show you what abilities you know at the end of the session with the character sheet.

You decide to purchase another Barrier module for the other gauntlet. Deciding that you spent enough money for the day, you head on home, eager to finish up your newest creations. Upon arriving home, you find that the door is locked, a sign that your master has stepped out. You unlock the door and head back to the workshop, locking the door behind you.

During the time it took to go shopping, the liquid bone you poured into the molds has set, and you get to work crafting the next set of molds for the right arm's gauntlet. After pouring the remaining liquid spine into the new molds you assemble the left arm gauntlet, deciding to incorporate your Mending Gloves into the gauntlets as well. With the one gauntlet complete and the other still setting in the molds, you begin to finish up the horn rifle, installing the trigger mechanism as well as the the accessories, carefully swapping out the marrow chamber on your pistol for a seismic charger.

With everything installed onto the rifle, the last step in the process of building it is mana tempering it to give it the ability to regenerate its own mana supply. Taking the rifle over to a special forge, you gently place it inside before igniting the forge with mana. A heat-less flame jumps to life inside, slowly leeching itself into the rifle as you keep applying mana. By the time the rifle stops taking in the flames, a heavy sweat hangs on your brow. Shutting off the forge, you pull the weapon out, caressing it like a parent would their newborn child.

(Item acquired: Bonecharge Rifle! Requires 5 mana per shot, with an additional cost of 2 mana when using the Seismic Charge accessory, and 1 mana when using the enhanced motion detection function of the scope. Has 15 points of charge, uses 3 per shot. Regenerates 1 point for every round when not used in combat.)

The rifle finished up, you begin assembling the other gauntlet, mana tempering the both of them once it has finished assembly.

(Items acquired: Drakespine gauntlets! Bone gauntlets that can be used to cast a limited variety of spells, each has 15 points of mana internally, mana usage varies with spell. Each contains a Barrier module which costs 3 mana per use and uses up 1 point of internal mana. Also incorporated with Mending Gloves, giving them the ability to perform minor artifact repairs in the field.)

By the time your gear has been finished up, your body is wracked with exhaustion and hunger. Looking out the window, you see the moon has risen high into the sky. You head into the pantry and grab a sausage to eat for supper, washing it down with water. You end up going to bed that night not having even seen your master since that morning. You drift off to sleep dreaming of various adventures you'll have as an independent mage.
[2/2]

Alright, that's it for the night. I'm sorry about having to take off earlier like that, things like that happen a lot to me which is part of the reason why I end up pushing back running days like I do.
>>
>>30808350
Later Saucy see you Friday?

all that remains is to name our artifacts because why not?
>>
>>30808510
Friday depends on how long familial obligations run. Someone in my family had a birthday this week so we're all getting together to celebrate friday night.

Also, if you want to name your artifacts, go ahead and come up with/vote on some names I guess. If enough people feel strongly about them I'll probably make them official next thread.
>>
>>30808569
sounds great if you don't mind can you put up shaper skill tree/chacter skills and designs?

btw I know it's not quite easy but for design, would you rather make your own tree or go by player suggestions and take a few turns if you feel we need some designs in between.
>>
>>30808635
I'm putting the finishing touches on the char sheet right now which will have what abilities you know on them. As for the whole skill tree, parts of it are still being refined and balanced so I'm a bit hesitant to put it up. But when it's done I'll make a graphical representation and put it up.

Just be comfortable in knowing that shit starts to get crazy at level 4 and 5. Especially 5.

Still doing Q and A, of course.
>>
>>30808960

We added the Marrow Charge unit to the rifle, right?
>>
>>30808960
>-2 Drakespine Gauntlets (equipped with healing)
I thought they had barrier?
>>
>>30808960
How much more rage does the bone charge than the bone burst weapons?

Earlier you asked if we wanted it to be breech loader or bone charge. Could we have chosen both?
>>
>>30809089

He means they've had the mending gloves incorporated into them, so they can tend to artifacts in the field.
>>
>>30809072
Yeah, I forgot to move that.

>>30809089
You are correct, I fucked up a bit there.
>>
>>30809104
Why is it named "healing" instead of "mending" or "repair" then?
>>
>>30809072
yes

>>30809100
also. Could we make our pistol a breech loader and keep the seismic upgrade. I have a feeling we would need some parts custom machined to do it tho.
>>
>>30809100

These are good questions. If our skill increases, can we add the breech loader on to our rifle?

Will we be able to make cartridges with bone-marrow powder later?
>>
>>30809106
>I fucked up a bit there.
Easy to fix.
>>
>>30809100
Charge imparts a lot more kinetic energy in projectiles than burst does, so at rifle size it has nearly 40% more range than if you used a standard burst unit. Also, the Breech Loader is essentially a standard Burst mechanism designed to be able to open at the breech, so it is currently incompatible. When you know more (have a higher shaper level) you'll be able to design a Charge that breech loads.

>>30809148
Breech loader was rifle sized, so no. Unless you want to make a bone Obrez.

>>30809159
Do you mean the standard marrow pellets that you have? You can actually make those currently in the workshop. If you mean a self contained cartridge similar to rounds today but with marrow/meal, not yet.

>>30809173
In the process of fixing.
>>
>>30809247
>Breech loader was rifle sized
I was aware but I was thinking of reproducing a second breech loader that was pistol sized. Hence why I said:
>I have a feeling we would need some parts custom machined to do it tho.

But I just google Obrez. While cool looking I would rather have a breach loading blunder bus / sawed off shotgun
>>
>>30809404
Oh. It's a bit beyond you to actually reproduce the mechanisms right now, much less change their scaling without causing issues.
>>
>>30809404
Obrez is /k/ memegun. Whenever a quest involves guns, they will demand their obrez.
>>
>>30809247

How long does the rifle take to fire? It's not quite as instant as boneburst weapons, I gather.

What beasts are regarded as being the best for making artifacts out of?
>>
>>30809473
It's not quite instantaneous but it fires nearly as fast as a burst, although it takes more mana than a burst does.

As for beasts, generally anything with larger bones will be better than something with smaller bones, although there are some things with higher quality bones than other things at their size. The thing with Drakes are that while they are a rather good size and quality, getting any of their bones are difficult as all the human raised ones are kept closely controlled by the Association, so pricing is pretty much at monopoly levels. There are wild drakes that are bigger and stronger, but are also fairly rare and very dangerous.
>>
>>30809581

Interesting.

Are there multiple nations in the world? Is there a particularly powerful hegemon? How politically stable is the world in general?

Fucking fuck, Captcha. Fuck you.
>>
>>30809707
Yes, there are multiple nations in the world, each one trying to seize up land where it can.

Currently the most powerful hegemony is the Kyelman empire, to which you are (technically) a citizen of.

The world is mostly stable, although there is a small amount of unrest in certain regions.

How could this be pseudo-colonial era without lands to colonize?
>>
>>30809581
The longer the barrel the more powerful the shot. Could we build a barrel extension.

Like a second full sized barrel that attaches to the first the same way people attach a silencer. Obviously it would only be used for sniping and removed when moving around.

I am aware it would increase the energy requirements I was just wondering if it would be possible.
>>
>>30809851
Yeah, it's possible.
>>
>>30809872
So it's the barrel that propels the bullet? Could we just make a magazine that feeds into the barrel then?
>>
>>30809954

We'd need a breech of some sort for a magazine to work. This is a muzzle-loader for the moment.
>>
>>30809954
Well, not just the barrel. You would also need to have some kind of bone casing over it, that's what transmits the power between the charge mechanism and the bullet. The metal barrel is just there to prevent wear on the bone.

As for the magazine >>30810072 is correct in that you need to crack the issue of being able to load into the chamber from the breech first.
>>
>>30810091

Do you have a main quest in mind for this setting, or do we just get to play around as much as we want? If the former, how long do you anticipate this will run?

Once we get to the upper levels in shaper, will we be limited only by money, materials, and imagination in what we can do?

I think you mean. At what level can we shape the world?
>>
>>30810272
There is a main plot that you've touched the threads of, barely, but for the majority of it you'll be pretty much going where you feel like. As for run length, who knows. It'll run as long as it needs to, no more, no less.

Also, once you hit the cap in Shaper, you'll pretty much be able to build what you like so long as you have the materials money and time for it. Like bone power armor

Again, though, pretty much whenever you get to the end of any of the trees you'll be absurdly strong. Slayer in particular will be nuts.
