Emerging from the sea after your visit to secure the alliance of the water elementals, you hoist yourself up onto the pier of the docks, dripping wet with seawater.

The people of this little pirate haven are crowding around you, yet keeping their distance, after your proclamation of Exalted status. Which was going to be really hard to keep hidden anyway at this point, and you wanted to make it clear that you are not a god.

But you have another problem right now. One that you seriously never considered: while you were swimming, someone stole your clothes.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble recently Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. She's in the western city of Tianna as a guest of queen Amata (DB), an old friend. Abyssals are targeting the city for conquest, Lintha pirates have infiltrated it with spies and agents, and half the island is controlled by paranoid Lunars. Fun times.
You have just made a deal for the water elementals of the sea to fight with you against the fae when the lunars of the Three Rivers will attack the swamp. You still have a day before the meeting.

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=zenith

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability. Yes, this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka is, up to a limit of her attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

"...has anyone seen my clothes?" you ask to the mass of people ogling you.

The reply is slow and confused, but you see some people nod to themselves and comment "so THAT's why she's naked!" or something like that.
Some work up the courage to ask what your clothes look like, even.

"Mhh... It's a white silk tabard, open to the sides, with a golden border... About this long..." you begin to explain, but are interrupted by murmurs from the deep of the crowd. Some cries, some screaming.

Then, the crowd parts and surrounds a dirty-looking kid dressed in ragged clothing, desperately clutching your tabard to his chest as the peopoe try and rip it from his hands. He's bleeding from a shallow wound on his forehead, and is cheek is badly bruised.

A lobbed rock hits him in the back of the head, and he lets go of your dress, which is repossessed by the crowd and quickly passed to you.

Amid the cries of "thief" and "scum", the citizens begin to kick him around, and some begin to pick up more rocks. Other tell you "he's not one of us" evidently fearful that you will punish them as well, for his crime.

Well, we've got all this delicious brown skin that we're showing off pretty much all of to everyone, it'd be no good if it started to get all dry and chalky.

Besides, it's a too trivial task for our other exalted to do (except in bed), and it's not terribly appropriate for our pirate minions to do it.

Some young kid is perfect for the job.

This. Having a servant kid around to do small tasks is pretty appropriate for Maka's High Priestess social station, too.

The amusement of poking fun at him/her when they're all flustered from having to rub oil into Maka's assorted bits is just Icing.
>>
"...thank you for finding my clothes." you mutter distractedly as you don your tabard. The silk cloth clings to your wet body suggestively, or so you presume judging from the reactions.

Then, you step in the middle of the impromptu stoning. "... Alright, stop. There's no need for this. I'll handle his punishment."

The replies of the crowd include "You needn't concern with this!", "Kill him for this sacrilige!", "She's going to drag him back into the sea?" "Maybe eat him?" "Leave it to her!" and a varied, indistinguishable cacophony, but the rocks stop flying.

The kid is all bloody and bruised, and is shaking from fear and shock. He doesn't look a year above 13, with dirty clothes and wild hair. He has "homeless orphan" written all over him, a kind you've seen all too often in this island. You have to hoist him up and carry him away since he doesn't look like he's going to move on their own. He's amazingly light.
You move away, but the crowd follows you for a bit, some still lured by your poorly-clothed body and others apparently perversely interested to learn how you will punish the thief.

As you leave the village and whatever little farmland there is around it, however, these people mostly give up, bit by bit, until you're left alone with the little rascal in a small clearing of the sparsely forested island, thick with rocks and undergrowth.

The moment you let him go, he kicks and scuttles and rolls on the ground and runs away, hiding in the bushes with a horrified scream.

"...I'm not some kind of monster, you know." you call out to the thick bushes where the kid is hiding.

No reply comes, and you continue: you're quite sure he's still listening. "I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to know something: why did you take my dress?"

"...it looked expensive." you hear him muttering, still hidden.

"I imagine it is. It's a gift from Queen Amata Tai Tianna." you reply.

"...I'm sorry."

You can't help but smile. "...no, you're not. You're only sorry because you got caught. You needed the money, right? To eat. You feel like you weight ten, twenty kilos. I felt your ribs jutting out of your chest. You're not really sorry, and you shouldn't be."

You hear a frushing noise as he pops out from the undergrowth, crying from a mix of shock, fear and relief . He looks even more mangy and sickly than when you first saw him, with leaves and branches stuck in his hair and clothes like this.

"What's your name?"

"...Regis."

"Your parents?" you already guess the answer.

"Dad died at sea fishing." he replies, trying to stop sobbing and put up a brave face. "Mom caught the chills a year later." then, with a hint of pride: "I can live alone."

He DIDN'T steal our clothes. He found a piece of gold-embroidered silk discarded on the docks. Then, when we explained it was ours, he gave it back.

Picking up valuable trash abd then giving if back when he found out we intended to keep it isn't 'stealing.'

Anyway, I expect Maka has some special sympathy for a homeless orphan.

Definitely this. Don't phrase it as adoption our charity our something. He's getting the gift of learning a valuable and elite profession (royal servantry; seriously, that's super elite) and being provided food, lodging, and so forth as payment rather than as charity.

"It's okay. You look like a smart kid. You'll learn quickly." you put a hand on his shoulder, then gently pull him to you in a delicate hug. You feel his tense, bony body losing tension and finally relax in your arms.

"...I'm sorry..."

"I already told you, you have nothing to be sorry about." you squeeze him a bit tighter. "Just... From now on, you're only allowed to take my clothes when I ask you to." you joke.

You let him go as you realize he's struggling for air, his head stuck deeply in your soft chest. He gasps, blushing red.

"...sorry." you smile to him.

Well, given Tia's reaction on meeting us I'm 80% sure Maka's first incarnation was a guy. Other than that the rest of your idea fits fine.

our metaphysics =/= exalted metaphysics.

If the Celestial Bureaucracy says your married, your marriage is basically carved into the structure of the universe.
>>
>>30814995
>>30815016
As it was said that can be arranged. Boy, girl we are Exalted. A bit in twilight to get some shaping sorcery and medical knowledge and we can change from one to the other. And allow us to plonk godblooded everywhere.
>>
>>30815005
Oh I want her to court us (it will be comically adorable) and a nice ceremony to demonstrate our love and commitment would be acceptable if a waste of time and resources if not heavily propagandized to help solidify our rule over Gem, but I'm just pointing out that any metaphysical benefits we might get out of the deal we're probably already benefiting from.
>>
>>30815021
He's saying he wants Maka to request a courting period ands official ceremony regardless of how Wxaltedfag's Lunar Mate metaphysics works. He - and I as well - want romance and to play it all up instead of going straight to 'welp, we're married now.' Just because some heavenly justice of the peace says we're married - and everything Talon said suggests that's not the case, and that Tia is just being clingy - that doesn't mean we're not going to have our beautiful royal ceremony.
>>
>>30815041
Why would we want to gender shift? Maka's pretty awesome the way she is.

Meh.
If we want children without Maka being pregnant then we can just summon a neohma
>>
Hey, Exaltedfag? Last thread, some of us realized we weren't sure how many dice your average soldier has in their attack pool. I thought it was probably three, with a green recruit fresh from training likely having Physical 1 and Dawn/Warrior 1, a seasoned and elite veteran having 2/2, and your average professional soldier having 2/1 or 1/2. And untrained peasant would, of course, just be 1.

Is that accurate? Higher? Lower? It would give us a good benchmark for how good Maka is at stuff and how much better people get with training charms.
>>
>>30815074
Just not the same.
>>
>>30815061
Why would Maka want to let someone else bear her child? Maka has been a woman her whole life and rather seems to enjoy it. She would probably prefer to be the wife/mother with Tia being the husband/father.

>>30815074

>>
>>30815061
Eh, not really my interest since I always feel like that gambit is cheating and ought to be met in kind by a DM. "You have spent ten years breeding and training a thousand sunblood enlightened children. But now, as you stair at the legions of abyssal offspring, warriors beyond number, led by their parents, marching on your domain, you can't help but wonder whether sitting on your hands for a decade was the best use of your time." Obviously it wouldn't really take a decade unless EF outlaws time dilation charms, but industrial scale production of god bloods always seemed like an antagonist favored plan to me.

>>30815102
>implying they can't get each other pregnant

>>30815106

Not a thing in Exalted, and it's pretty high-tier sorcery for that time-dilated Elsewhere enclave. And it warps time in the opposite direction with very little time passing within.
>>
>>30815097
I doubt it.

We have too much stuff to do that does not afford such prolonged leisure time as pregnancy. Plus we are exalted this is probably the only excuse Maka needs to live out all her fantasies and try it all out.

Especially with Physical plus Zenith Resistance/Survival effects. "Condition Denying Form." Remove all penalties from things like illness, poison, injury, pregnany, and so forth, including guaranteeing the child's safety to birth as long as we're still alive. Have it be a permanent, Hardship Surviving Spirit type effect.

That would be a solid charm also useful for pregnancy instead of something strictly for pregnancy.

>>
>>30815186
Wouldn't pregnancy technically count as a disease effect? Meaning doing that would cause auto still-birth?
>>
>>30815308
Not seeing the connection. The feats counts as being a part of the mothers body, for being another healthy part of the mother, for the duration of the pregnancy.
>>
>>30815260
More Dawn you mean. More Dawn is only 6 Experience. More Physical is way more expensive.

And yeah, WITHOUT ANY CHARMS we're only BETTER THAN A HARDENED MILITARY VETERAN.
>>
>>30815308
No. Charms aren't hunter-killer drones and pregnancy is natural and healthy. Also, the charm I proposed wouldn't eliminate diseases our poisons, just the penalties. Actually curing them would be a Twilight Medicine charm.
>>
Rolled 10

>>30815326
But phys is used for more than just fighting
>>
>>30815345
It also costs more than double what increasing Dawn costs and, since Solars are based on skills rather than attributes, wouldn't grant access to any new/better charms.
>>
>>30815345
We could get Dawn 4 for what it would take to increase physical once, and Dawn 4 actually unlocks new, better powers for us to take. We're Solar, not Lunar, so Physical doesn't do that for us.
>>
It takes a few minutes for Regis to calm down.

When he's done sobbing, he just says: "...I'll work for you."

"I'll be sure to treat you well." You reply. He's just too cute. Of course, he'll need to put on some weight, and decent clothes, but you'll worry about that in due time.

You realize that the sun is about to set. It's probably best to head back to the village and look for Tia and the others. "...We'll go back to town."

"But..." He replies, hesitant and fearful.

"It's all right. They aren't going to hurt you. It was all a misunderstanding. Besides, I'll be with you, right? I'll protect you." You try and give him some courage. He quietly nods.

On your way back to the village, after a bit of uncomfortable silence, he starts asking you questions.

"...So... what am i supposed to do?"

You think about it. "Well, you'll run errands for me. Run errands, like bring me clothes, help me brush my hair in the morning..." You gesture bending an arm behind your back, showing that there are points you can't comfortably reach. "...things like that. You know, a household..." You stop yourself short of using the word "servant", thinking of one that will sound cooler to a kid. "...butler."

"Will I have a uniform?"

"...Sure, why not." You say, noticing how much he seems to like the idea. "With the, er, buttons and everything. Also, well, of course, three meals a day, comfy bed whenever possible, baths..."

"Baths?"

"Your duties will also be to clean me in the bath and dry me up afterwards. Also oil me." You grin, testing how precocious this kid is. Judging by his massively flustered reaction, quite a lot.

Some more time passes. As the sun sets into twilight, you return to town. "...So you're Exalted? What does that mean?"

"...It basically means I have been given powers by a god."

He oohs, fascinated. "What god? The island god? Father Ocean?"

You shake your head and point westward. "The Sun."

He oohs some more. "...Why did he give you those powers?"

"I'm not too sure. We talked only once, and I didn't understand everything." You explain to Regis, who seems to take the statement that you had a conversation with the Sun quite in stride. "But I think he wants me to protect Creation."

"From what?" Ah, the inquisitiveness of kids.

"From... all the bad things, I imagine? The Deathlords, the Fair Folk, the demons, normal people who are being evil or stupid or both... that sort of things. I like to think that this is why I've been given these powers."

After a quick walk across town, you can't seem to find Tia. You begin to wonder what you're going to need to do to get in touch with her, when you see something you weren't expecting: Yagate White-Tooth and a small band of his savage-looking pirates. He's heavily bandaged, but standing upright on his own two feet, which is an impressive feat even accounting for his enormously robust constitution.

He seems to have been looking for you, actually. The moment he sees you, he walks straight up to you, in the middle of the road (attracting some onlookers, probably curious about how much bloodshed there will be THIS time), and flat-out says: "...We need to talk. Here. Now."

His men seem as puzzled as you are by this odd development. On his part, Regis hides behind you.

"...I've decided to give up." The ferocious beastman says to you, with a tone of voice so strong and bold that you almost misunderstand the meaning of his words.

"...You mean that...?" You ask, a bit confused.

"You want the Black Eye, my ship." he states.

"I want your ship AND your service." You point out. "The ship is useless without a captain."

"You'll have to find another one, or have the crew elect a new one." He says, turning to them, who now look REALLY surprised. "...I realize that, if you want my ship, I can't exactly stop you. Take it, then. It's yours. But I can't work for you. I can't promise you any loyalty. Just... let me go. I'll disappear forever. When a captain is defeated, it's time for him to either die or retire."

When most of the votes are split more-or-less-equally between two or three options, I try and create a narrative that attempts to encompass all three. Rather than just going with what had 1 or 2 votes more than the others.

Of course, I'll do it when possible. If the actions are completely mutually exclusive, i'll count every single vote.

You turn to his crew, who don't seem to know what's going on anymore. "...You guys."

"Y-yes?" Someone answers. You're pretty sure they're quite terrified of you by now. Now you just need to turn that fear into healthy respect.

"I'm assuming ownership of the Black Eye, unless anyone has anything to object."

No objections.

"Head back to your ship. Elect a new captain. As long as he's willing to deal with me, anyone willing to assume the responsibilities - and, of course, the rank and higher share of profits that come with it. If you're fine with renouncing piracy and becoming traders for me, that's all the best. Otherwise, you can stay as privateers under my contract, or become a military ship."

"O... of what navy?" Someone asks, still not having everything clear. Understandable.

"Mine." You reply, adamantly.

"...Do what she says." Yagate growls. "...It was good fighting with you boys. But you're on your own from now on. Bring my farewells to the others."

Bit by bit, the crew heads back to the ship and the crowd, seeing no blood, disperses as well, leaving you (with annexed Regis still hiding) and Yagate alone in the street.

"...It's you, right? Tia?" You lift an eyebrow.

Under your eyes, the massive beastman shrinks down to the silk-clothed shape of your Lunar mate sporting a huge, and just as sharklike, grin. "Yeah, I'm not a terribly good impersonator. Crew might suspect something, but I don't think they'll do anything stupid. I made sure of that."

"What did you do with the real Yagate?" You wonder.

"Kept him under observation for a while, from the window. It's not enough to eat their heart to turn into them, you know." You hear Regis shuddering. "There's a whole procedure. I'm more the kind that hunts by ambush rather than by chase, though, so it was quite discreet."

"...But you DID eat his heart?" You ask, still trying to picture the image.

(cont.)
>>
"Oh, yeah." She nods, with a hint of evil gloating in her eyes and laugh. "By the way, he's huge!"

"...I did notice." You reply, confused by that statement, and by her use of the present tense. "He was almost three meters tall, and built as a brickhouse made of smaller brickhouses."

"No, I didn't mean the stature!" And she waggles her eyebrows suggestively. "I'll show you in bed tonight... Besides, it has a really weird shape, and his skin is all rough and-"

You cough. "Uh, Tia, not in front of the kid."

It's only then that she notices Regis. He looks at her, still half-hidden behind you.

"Oh!" She exclaims. "How did you manage that in just two days? Besides, I'm pretty sure I've been careful the night before yesterday."

You're not sure how to reply to her nonchalant statements, except maybe to note that that night was anything BUT careful. After a few seconds of Tia being crazy, you find the right words: "Er, no, no, he's just an orphan from here in the village. The people were about to stone him - well, long story short, I stepped in and offered him a job."

"A job?" She replies.

You look at him. "He's my butler. Oh, right, Regis, this is Tia, my-"

"I'm Maka's husband."

Poor kid looks WAY out of his depth now, but he still manages to reply "Uh, pleased to meet you."

"He's adorable." Is her first reply, sending a shiver down both your spines. "Are we adopting him?"

Deciding to change the subject fast before this gets weird in front of a 13-years-old kid, you talk about...

"...In any case, well done, Tia. You did well." You decide some praising is in order. You were a bit worried about her plan, but it seems to have worked.

She smiles and leans onto you, clearly requesting, or rather, demanding, a hug as payment, which you oblige.

"...Let's get back to that inn and get a bed for the night. It was... a busy day. Besides, we still need to catch up with Mikahil."

"And that Iohannes Quint pirate fellow, unless you're giving up on him." Tia points out as you make way to the rickety whorehouse that is probably not deserving of being called an "inn".

"I don't know. I haven't decided yet. Tomorrow's the last day, right? We might still manage to find more allies."

She nods. "Yep. The others are waiting us at Azure Lake at the dawn of the day after tomorrow."

"...I'm hungry." Regis helpfully points out. In fact, you yourself have not exactly enjoyed many regular meals these days.

A thought then strikes you: this dress (which is basically all you're carrying) doesn't exactly have pockets, and even if it had, you never carried money in Tianna, relying on Amata for everything. But you can't exactly ask anybody to put anything on the Royal Family's tab here in this pirate haven, can you?

You stop in front of the door to the whorehouse, thinking about the problem for a moment.

Definitely this. We've already saved Tianna from being conquered and almost single-handedly rebuilt its walls. The closest we came to bungling things is startling people when we cleared the streets of rubble and spoiled - then personally resolved - a counter-espionage op.

We're actually doing fantastically. People who keep calling Maka a fuckup are pretty much completely wrong.

Running a business is the ONLY thing she's had a hard time of so far. She's got a lot more going for her than just sex and violence.

"...Actually, Tia?"

"Huh?" She turns around just as she was about to enter the establishment.

"...we have a ship in dock, we can sleep there." You point out.

"But I wanted to do a cool scene where we walk in and I toss the purse that I took from Yagate on the counter and say "Give us your best room and send us all of your whores" and then while everyone is surprised I'd sweep you off your feet and walk upstairs-"

"Right, we're definitely sleeping on our ship." You reply. Regis seems to enjoy your impromptu comedy skit.

So you head back to the Bloodshark. On board there's just a skeleton crew, including Rubel Sareni, who welcomes you back onboard.

"So I heard you've become the talk of town." He says, looking impressed. "You got in a fight with Yagate Sharktooth, got him to leave you his ship and abandon piracy - good riddance I might add - disappeared into the sea and returned, made a scene walking naked all around town, and saved a kid from being stoned.

"What." Tia replies, depressed. "And I missed that?"

"...Tia." You point out. "You already saw me naked. Why are you sad? What would have changed if you had been there?"

"That I would have seen you naked some more?" She replies, clearly missing the point of your question.

"...I'm sorry, who is she?" Yagate asks, pointing at Tia. At this point, you decide to just let her introduce herself with what's quickly becoming her signature phrase.

"I'm Tia. Maka's husband."

He scratches his forehead. "Your, er, husband is very affectionate." He says.

In response, she grabs your arm and begins dragging you away. "We're getting a room."

As you vanish below deck, you hear a crewman in the background complaining to the captain: "See? THIS is what happens when we leave our women on land alone with each other for too long! Man, I hate Storm Mothers."

The conversation continues with Regis asking Rubel is he can make himself useful on board, but you can't follow it as it becomes too faint and distant.

Also potentially this. We don't actually dislike the roles, but this is another thing that's just been decided for us. While she's romancing us we can decide on that.

Honestly at the moment we'll probably like it best if we do end up as her wife, though. Tia is very dashing, she plays the role very well.

Debatable. Maka is the main political engine of the duo.

Its just that Tia is more into Violence and Sex than Maka. Almost to the exclusion of everything else. Thus Tia can afford to do perpetually cool stuff, because she is invested *only* in doing cool stuff.

There isn't an easy way of saying what you want to say.

You look up to her. She's standing in the middle of the room, looking at you. As usual, it's hard to read her expression. It seems a bit of a mix of fear, worry and expectation. Tension. Nervousness. Happiness. Glee. Frustration.

You pat on the bed next to you. "...Come and sit here, please."

"Can..." She mumbles, walking up to the bed. "Can I do this?" She asks, lying down on the bed using your lap as a pillow.

"Of course." You reply. The gentle pressure of her head on your legs feels comfortable and reassuring.

"Ahah, I can't see your face." She comments with a chuckle. Sighing, you remove your tabard and lean backwards a bit.

"...Tia."

"Yes?"

"...I have trouble understanding you sometimes."

She looks up at you like she doesn't understand. "...What do you mean? You're the ONLY person who understands me."

"Then I've just been lucky guessing, because... I can't follow your thoughts at all, Tia. You do know that the Bond you say we share... it goes one way only, right? From you to me. I... I can't even begin to understand how your feelings for me are. How they work." You tentatively explain.

"...You don't love me?"

"I don't love you as much as you love me. It's hard for me. I... I've just met you."

She falls silent.

"You have been living your entire life since you Exalted knowing about me. Searching for me. I... I met you a few days ago. At first, I thought you were being crazy."

"I am." She admits. "I realize this. But... I can't do anything about it."

You gently stroke her hair. "You can't, or you don't want to?" You idly wonder.

"Bit of both." She giggles.

"...But, I hope you understand. It's not that I don't want to love you. It's that you didn't leave time for my love to grow properly."

"...Grow?"

"Yours is already fully-formed, Tia. Burning bright enough to light the entire night sky. Mine... will take time. And effort."

A few seconds of silence follow.

"...So, we're lovers." She concludes.

"For now." You note. "You'll have to..."

"Anything." She interrupts you. She looks incredibly serious, a fire burning in her eyes. "Just tell me. For you, I'm going to bring you a necklace of stars. Carve a royal palace from the water of the ocean. The severed heads of thirteen deathlords. The Sword of Ice. The Crown of Thunders. Just ask."

You shake your head, gently caressing hers. "...I want you to make me fall in love properly, Tia. I don't want amazing profs of courage, or extravagant gifts, or deeds done in my name. I just want to fall in love with you."

She falls silent.

"...You're doing this because you want a family, right? Since you Exalted, everything changed. You're Anathema. You can no longer stay with mortal friends and family like before."

Tia nods.

"And everything in your heart and mind screams that I'm the only one for you. The only one who can give you a normal life and a normal relationship and a normal family." You think about it. "...well, for a given value of normal."

She nods again.

"Then, live every step of your new life with me. Don't skip anything. Start with romance."

"I..." She hesitates. "I've never romanced anyone. I don't know where to start from."

"Someone with your amazing skill in bed?" You note, surprised. Well, "skill" is the wrong word, but "raw power and complete lack of restraint", while closer to truth, wouldn't fit the conversation.

"...When I wanted someone, I took him or her. I never wasted time on others like that. They were just meant to... make me feel a bit less lonely for a while."

"Did it work?" You ask, but the answer already hangs in the air.

"...A bit. Not much" She admits. "Sometimes. Some were good enough to keep for a bit. But I always moved on in the end."

"Because you weren't looking for sex. You were looking for love."

The idea seems to just click with her. Her smile brightens up, like someone suddenly figuring out the solution to a riddle. "...yes!" Then, suddenly worried: "Have I found it?"

"You found where to start from." You reply, punctuating your words with strokes of her long hair. "I'm here now, ready to fall in love with you."

"...What do I need to do?" She asks, probably more to herself than to you.

"I don't know." You chuckle. "Surprise me. You've been particularly good at doing that up to now."

Suddenly, she stands back up from your lap pillow, and in a single motion (how does she DO that?) removes her silken white dress with a flourish.

Bracing for her inevitable assault, you're instead surprised to see her offer you a silk-gloved hand. As before, she seems to consider those shoulder-length silk gloves and thigh-high stiletto boots "not clothing" for some reason. You wonder if you can consider that a fetish of hers, but then your train of thought carries you to strange places, like asking yourself what counts as a "fetish" for a shapeshifter.

Your weird train of thought is interrupted by her voice. "Come with me, then. I'll take you out for the night.

Wondering what she means, you gently take her hand, and she pulls you up to the small, round window cut in the hull. She flips it open with the other hand, and then climbs through.

Here, as much as it pains you to do so, you have to stop her. "Uh, Tia, I can't follow you there." You ARE wondering what she's planning to do outside naked at night, but that's an even more pressing question, as the window is just large enough to fit your head through, but not your shoulders nor certainly your chest or hips. Thankfully you've grown used to Tia's flexibility, otherwise you would have probably found the anatomically impossible way she squeezed through that space... unsettling.

"...What?" She asks you, from outside. You imagine she's holding on to the hull of the ship, maybe with her nails, to stay level with the window. Then, a grin opens on her face as she realizes your problem, and the obvious solution, and she grabs the window frame with both hands, her castemark lighting up...

"Waitwaitwait! No! It's MY ship now, remember?"

"...Oh." The light slowly dies down.

"...You dive, I'll meet you down!" You tell her, and run upstairs.

Along the way, you walk between captain Rubel, Regis, who is apparently being given a tour of the Bloodshark, and the crewman from before, who you can hear continuing his rant from before: "-I mean, it's obvious that the women are going to get WEIRD with no one on land to-"

"Sorry. G'night." You hastily apologize as you dash between their group.

"...SEE? WOMEN HAVE GOTTEN ALL WEIRD NOWADAYS! AND IT'S OUR FAULT! Hear my theory, captain! If we just...-"

You reach the side of the ship, and dive directly into the sea. The splash of cold water over your body is invigorating, but you're in a shallow bay, and the seabed is really low. You almost hit the bottom, but manage to land on it with your feet, kicking up a small cloud of sand and scaring away a school of fish or two.

You hadn't noticed earlier because you had too much stuff on your mind, but the seabed of the bay of a tropical island, especially when moonlit at night, is an amazing sight.

Sunken ships and rocks riddled with shining coral and colorful polyps are scattered in the silver-blue landscape, as rays of light filter from above, dancing at the tune of the surface waves. Seaweed forests grow from the bottom up, swaying in the current.

Storm Mothers are psychotic, usually-hideous sea hags.

They do tend to keep harems of unreasonably sexy water nymph slaves around, though, specifically to deny them sex so that their beauty is worthless.

Tia swims towards you from the patch of seaweed she was waiting for you in. You notice again, like you did in the bath, that when underwater she has some large, partially-open cuts along her neck and shoulders. Looking at her better, you notice her fingers are webbed. Somehow, her gloves have adapted to that.

About to run out of air, you motion to swim back up, but she gently keeps you underwater. Moving her hands and body in contact with you, she kisses you, and you can feel fresh air being breathed into your lungs.

You play for a while like this, swimming and dancing and chasing each other in the fairyland-like scenario of the bay at night.

Finally, you both resurface, floating up, cradled by the slow waves. Just being in water like this is immensely comfortable. You briefly wonder if your new elemental allies are helping, or if it's just due to relaxing after a long and stressful day.

As crazy as Tia is sometimes, you do feel relaxed when you're with her. After a day of handling social situations, spending time with someone who is just herself, straightforward, ruthlessly honest, and who is as powerful as you (or more, maybe!), who will protect you no matter what, and is definitely, without doubt or fear of betrayal, always on your side no matter what... it's just a good feeling.

The waning gibbous moon is shining brightly in the cloudless sky. The two of you just spend some time with your eyes lost in the sea of stars.

"...I said I'd take you out for a ride, Didn't I?" She says, after long speechless minutes - maybe hours? - where your only communication was through your intertwined fingers. You feel the water moving and her hand leaving your grasp, and, when you turn, a huge dolphin is looking at you.

"...I guess you did." You reply, climbing atop her as she begins to swim away, picking quickly up a prodigious amount of speed.

She did surprise you. And, well, you'd lie if you said that, as weird as it is, it isn't romantic in its own way.

Hours later, the two of you wash ashore on a tiny, uninhabited atoll in the sea, little more than a large patch of sand on the outline of a surfacing coral reef. The sand is fine, and the water is crystal clear. A small corner of paradise.

By the feeling of the wind in your hair and its whistle still ringing in your ears, and the terrifying flow and pressure of the water whenever Tia dived underwater and you with her, you can only imagine that you're quite distant from any place you've known or seen this far.

Your worries, the war, the fae, the abyssals can wait at least until dawn. For tonight, this strip of sand is your kingdom.

You open your eyes as you feel Tia crawling up to you. "Am I doing this right?" She asks with a light smile.

You nod sagely, already acting superb about being the ruler of your newly founded nation, population two. "Quite, quite."

"What I want is your love." She repeats, clinging to you. "But that doesn't mean I can't have the sex as well, right?"

She's certainly honest with herself.

I understand the desire everyone has for Maka to be the one in charge rather than letting Tia go full on husbando. I was concerned about it, as well, but I don't really see it as that big a concern anymore. She follows our lead in almost every matter, always seeks our approval, and is bound by what is presumably a five-dot Solar bond to be faithful to us.

We'll never be weak to her or in comparison to her. In fact, I'd say letting her be as strong as she can only makes us look better.

"Of course not." You reply, whispering in your ear as your hands slide on her lithe, perfect body. "But I promise you, once we're married, I'm not going to hold back any more."

"Wait." She lifts her head. "You were holding back?"

"Well, no." You admit your little lie. "I just mean we're going to pull all stops."

"...I never had any stops." She reminds you. Not that you need it.

"Think of it this way." You reply. "If we go all-out NOW, then once we marry we'll be forced to find new ways to go even beyond that."

She seems to be totally on board with it. "So... let me push the bar as high as possible now."

"Oh, no, no. *I* am going to push it higher than you." You challenge her.

"...You're on."
Alas, your kingdom lasted one night only before sinking under the waves.
But it was a fairly memorable night, so it's okay.

Hours later. A bit after dawn. Freeport Island. Deck of the Bloodshark.

"...So, you had me sleep on the floor to leave you "a room" for your "privacy"... and then you just spend your night at sea?" Captain Rubel rants.

It's not often that a mortal gets to complain this way to two Exalted, but you have to recognize that he's right. "Look, I said we're sorry..."

"That's not the point! You could have just told me!" He sighs. "Oh, hey, Rubel, I changed my mind, I'm going to bang my magical girlfriend out at sea all night, you can have your room back and sleep on your bed!"

"But you saw Maka leaving!" Tia points out.

"But not you! And I thought she might have returned a moment later and maybe I didn't see her. You people are weird like this. I know it's not a big deal sleeping on the floor for a night, but come on people, you could have just SAID."

He takes a second, long, deep, drawn-out breath, and calms down.

"Better?" You ask him.

He nods. "Yeah." Then he straightens a bit, his back clearly aching after a night spent sleeping on wooden boards. "What now?"

We should probably just get that in Tianna. They're sure to have better smiths, and it shouldn't be too much of a trouble to get some iron swords while picking up our gauntlets and boots. That's assuming they're not using iron already - iron is cheaper (and shittier) than good bronze, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have to deal with fae ships sometimes.
>>

Indeed.

Get the people to stock up on iron, meet up with the last captain, send word to Mikhail we are leaving and all of this can be done in a hour or so.

That's why I always have my exalts try to carry three versions of their primary weapon. An artifact, an exceptional mundane version, and an iron one. For example, an orichalcum daiklave, a Chiaroscuro glass sword of exceptional craftsmanship, and a simple-but-solidly-made iron one.

The artifact gets stored Elsewhere, the iron one left on the horse or attached to the pack or what have you, and the exceptional mundane one worn on the hip.

>Exaltedfag, how much time to do we have left?
Depends on how you move.

If you move alone with Tia as a vehicle, you can fly one hex in 5 minutes. So, a lot of time.

Ships are about one hex in 15 minutes. Also note that the ships can't really go up the river and reach Azure Lake because they'd have to go through the wyld swamp. also because it's too shallow anyway. (Mikahil might have charms that make them go faster.)

Land movement without riding a lunar? You're looking at 3 hex in 2 hours.

Plan accordingly.
>>
Rolled 4

>>30819023
That is a good policy. Or Witcher like outfit, with the orichalcum weapon elsewhere you can pose as a Raksha hunter.
>>
Rolled 4

I say we use our ship to go to Tianna, send our men ahead so we can spend some time in the city and then catch up with Tia as a horse
>>
Rolled 4

>>30819051
And which of those little islands are we on? It looks like the fastest land route for our pirates to get to Azure Lake is 8 hexes, from the south. That's almost six hours. From the north, it's 11, for nearly eight. And after a march like that, they'll need a rest of they're going to be in any fighting shape.

...I really think we do need to be leaving in very short order.
>>
>>30819087
So we find Mikhael very very quickly. We can come back to meet Iohannes Quint afterwards.
>>
Rolled 2

>>30819058
Yup. In this case, iron, rather than silver, is your 'magic' sword. And honestly, most of the monsters in the Witcher were product of some wyld zone/shadowlands.

Unless I'm mistaken, though, there's no real bane for ghosts/demons, is there? Aside from Holy effects, that is.
>>
Rolled 4

We should really grab Mikhael and get moving
>>
Rolled 4

>>30819051
Well we could have Mikhail or someone else in charge of the three pirate ships enacting a blockade of the swamp supported by the water elemental court.

We only go with Tia and meet up with our supernatural allies at azure lake and then tell our lunar friends our force disposition, weather they want or can get the pirate ships in on the action.

If so we fly over with tia to the ships and the elemental water court while the lunars hit from the east with dancing smoke and we force a landing with our elemental and pirate in support of ourselves and tia.

Any campaign wont start today but tomorrow since the meet up is late at night.
>>

we already told the elementals to show up at the lake, we can't change everything now
>>
>>30818669
Is it worth worrying ourselves over the pirates right now? They can't meet at Azure Lake, and would they even be useful against the Fae?Would they be useful as a blockade off the coast? Could we just give them some orders and then meet back up after helping the Three Rivers?
>>
Rolled 8

>>30819133
That means a minimum of 12 hexes to sail, which is another three hours. 36 hexes - 9 hours of sailing - if we want to take the route that leaves the sailors with a shorter overland march.

Yeah, we need to get going very shortly.
>>
Rolled 6

>>30819051
>>30819133
If that is so the ships can get to the wyld swamp bay in less than five hours,

And we can fly to azure lake in two hours, or more if we go from the bay and try to avoid the swamp.

We can spare the time to get Quint and Mikhail and have them armed up with iron weapons from the town. We can even Fly to Tianna and then back. and make that all in six hours.

If evening is at 2000 or 2100 and it is now say 09000 we have about six hours we can burn, around two or so in town here, two in Tianna, and two on the road or at Azure.

Rolled 10

>>30819191
Creation doesn't have firearms/cannons by default. The can't shell somewhere from off the shore, and can do fuckall to catch a ship that's faster than them.

Triremes and junks are high tech here. Most ships are just rowed and lack sails.
>>
Rolled 9

We're on page 9.
Second thread tonight?
>>
Rolled 4

>>30819224
If we want them at Azure lake. Why would we want that?

They are best employed as naval fighters and coastal raiders.

Better we let them in the bay and with the lunar armies we try and push the fae to the shore where the pirates will then make a landing or bombard the fuckers from the ships with iron, while the water elemental protect them from bullshit magic.
>>30819182
We can send them to the bay as they arrive and meet and greet with the lunars
>>
>>30819266
Someone get this archived quick then.
>>
Rolled 2

>>30819276
>If we want them at Azure lake. Why would we want that?
Why wouldn't we? Creation is pre-artillery and pre-sail. They can't do shit from the sea aside from board other vessels, which the Fae may very well not even have. They're not useful for anything other than actually fighting, in this particular engagement.
>>
Rolled 6

>>30819254
They have bow and arrows, for the small ships and probably scorpio or similar stuff. And the larger military ships probably have ballista and catapults.
>>
Rolled 10

>>30819320
>And the larger military ships probably have ballista and catapults.
What larger military ships? These are shitty little pirate ships that ram and board other ships to steal their cargo. At best, you're going to find a miniature ballista that fires harpoons to help pull other ships in.

And since the hexes are large enough that they take an hour and a half to cross, and the Fae live in the middle of the swamp, they aren't going to do shit unless the fae decide to go hang out on the beach for some fucking reason.
>>
Rolled 6

>>30819303
I was thinking landing on the beach and functioning as a element in a hammer and anvil move, with the elementals providing anti shaping defence while they pepper fae with iron or form a shield wall and poke with iron spears.

They are pirates after all, so coastal raiding should be in their repertoire.

I am trying to keep to our strengths and getting the elementals and the pirates inland makes them weaker.
>>
Rolled 8

>>30819369
The problem with that is that the swamp is five hexes - 7.5 hours by foot - across at its very narrowest point. We have exactly zero way of coordinating something like that.
>>
Rolled 6

>>30819363
I was talking for the larger military ships about Tiannas stuff and such. Pirates would not use catapults as it would be rather self defeating.

>>30819363
Well we could have the army march on the borders of the swamp to lure the fae army and then go towards the beach.

When they finaly get us we are waiting them in a L type hold with the lunars up and the pirates and elemental at the shore.

The lunars would then swing around and try and push the fae to the shore into the elementals and pirates.

If we go to the fae we are going to have to fight them on prepared ground.

I would rather eat them piece by piece, army first city and holdings later.
>>
Rolled 3

We agreed, with Talon, to bring everyone we can to Azure Lake to start our attack on the fae. Presumably, this includes a strategy meeting where we can work out a plan of attack. There's nothing saying we have to attack immediately.
I think we should jsut do what we agreed on, show up, and discuss how we're going to do this with our allies, before we try to implement some "brilliant" strategy
>>
Rolled 10

>>30819386
We could really use that messenger charm...

Or sorcerers to function as phones.

We can coordinate with Tia or another lunar flying... but unless they transform into something small and inconspicuous they are going to give up the ploy...
>>
Rolled 5

>>30819434
>I was talking for the larger military ships about Tiannas stuff and such
Did you read this quest at all? Tianna DOESN'T have ships, because the pirates keep sinking them
>>
Rolled 2

>>30819434
>I was talking for the larger military ships about Tiannas stuff and such.
...Tianna isn't sending anyone to this battle, dude. It's just us, our personal allies, and the Three Rivers tribes. And I really don't think you realize how fuckhuge this swamp is, or how few dudes we actually have.
>>
Rolled 5

GUYS JUST GO TO THE STRATEGY MEETING AND DISCUSS STRATEGY THERE
>>
Rolled 4

>>30819462
Two biermes it has. They could mount a small catapult or a boarding bridge.

>>30819464
I know. I was talking about naval shit in general.
>>
Rolled 6

>>30819485
>I know. I was talking about naval shit in general.
None of us are. We're talking about the upcoming battle. You know, actual relevant shit?
>>
>>30819436

This all depends how well we can arm them. We will have to make a trip to Tianna if the village does not have much iron we will just be wasting their lives by let them go into battle unprepared.

Also our schedule will depend on Mikahil who might have sail charms. Let's go meet with him and last captain and then decide.
>>
Rolled 6

>>30819519
I don't think the last captain is even in this port.
We'd have to find him

Just information:
1) Maka knows how to fight Fae with iron. She might not know intricate details, spells or wards, but she knows that they are weak to pure, low-grade iron without the carbon inclusions you'd add to make steel.

2) There's probably a lot of iron in Freeport (pots, kettles, chains, anchors, etc), it's just a matter of re-purposing it to weaponry.

3) The ships usually fight with arrows, fire arrows, and some light non-gunpowder artillery (ballistas, catapults, etc).

4) A ship has a crew of about 30 people.

Also, closing the thread here. Next thread? I'll try and make one tomorrow.

I'm also considering making a non-gameplay thread to discuss your situation, the setting for people who don't know the game, bringing up to par people who didn't follow the threads / don't feel like browsing the archive, ideas, questions, and deciding how to spend XP. good idea, or waste of a thread?

As usual, archive if you liked.

2 XP (base)
1 XP (recruited Regis)
1 XP bonus (cleared your relationship status with Tia)

Rolled 5

>>30819476
Lets get Quin and Mikahil before that and then we make haste to Azure lake.
>>
>>30819567
Also: the meeting at Azure Lake is a pre-attack strategy meeting, but it doesn't mean you'll attack right away, or need to have all your forces there. It just means that you're done recruiting and building up and all that comes afterwards is the preparation for the attack, but it doesn't mean "ok everyone is here ATTACK NOW".

In general, you can assume you'll be able to talk about it at the meeting, and that they expect you to bring important people involved in the decision-making process. not the entire crew, but probably the captains.
>>

>>30819567
Can we purchase Hardship Surviving Spirit now? There seems to be a consensus on that.
>>

how many people can Tia carry while flying?
>>
>>30819567

2 XP (base)

Wow, you are being generous. Let's get Hardship Surviving Spirit or Dawn 3. Which one would be more useful in this situation?
>>
Rolled 6

>>30819636
Hardship Surviving Spirit would let us survive any poison or other environmental hazards of the swamp. Depending on how long the next thread goes, we might be able to also pick up Dawn 3 before the battle - after all, we only need two more experience in order to afford both.
>>
Rolled 1

>>30819636
we're probably going to use Dawn a lot, it's not just punching people, which we're going to do a lot, but also commanding troops and coming up with strategies.
>>
>>30819619
Yeah, I remember from last thread. I'd say it works. I'll add it later.

>>30819625
Enough.
>>
>>30819625

This is a good plan. We can get the last captain, take over the town and even get some more spirit allies if we play this right.

After we get the last captain we send the fleet to Tianna along with Mikahil to get armed and once we are done we fly to the meeting with Tia and the captains using several trips if necessary.

We should not be on the ships in the first place because of Storm Mothers.
>>
Rolled 8

>>30819682
>Yeah, I remember from last thread. I'd say it works. I'll add it later.
Cheers.
>>

so you're saying we could airdrop our entire army on top of the fae?
>>
>>30819714

I don't think they're dense enough to fuck with Maka and Tia while there are less-terrifying pretty ladies to drown.
>>
Rolled 10

>>30819732
>I don't think they're dense enough to fuck with Maka and Tia while there are less-terrifying pretty ladies to drown.
...Dense enough? The Storm Mothers can rip us a new asshole. We're a fresh exalt - we can bully low-grade and even some medium-tier spirits, but even Dancing Smoke could probably kick our ass if she really tried. The Storm Mothers would FUCK US UP.
>>
>>30819773
Still not a smart idea to pick a fight with Exalts when there's mortals you could be drowning.
>>
Rolled 10

>>30819905
They don't have some kind of drowning bitches quota, dude. They just drown bitches when they see them and get jealous. Considering how fucking smokingly hot Maka is, she would be a top priority on their jealous-bitch-outrage.
>>
Rolled 6

With HSS we just swim to the sea bottom and they are shit out of luck because ocean father and elementals do not like them.

>>30819717
>>30819682

Probably not the entire army but that means we can grab the captains and fly them over to azure lake. Meaning we can do some stuff in town like meet the third captain, or even take over the town if it is done before noon, and then fly over to Tianna and then turn back to Azure lake or just Azure lake..
>>
Rolled 5

>>30820036
>With HSS we just swim to the sea bottom and they are shit out of luck because ocean father and elementals do not like them.
Which does nothing to save the ship we were on. That's our actual concern.
