Notes on Rolls and Voting:

When I request rolls, each set of three rolls counts for one action. For example, a two-step plan would take the first 6 linked rolls. A particularly bad failure can interrupt a string of actions.

When rolling 1d100, I will consider criticals within the first ten linked rolls. Only criticals that occur in the first three rolls will be counted as "supercrits". This is still the case even if you'd have plan long enough to require more than ten rolls.

When rolling 1d20, the rules are the same, but I only consider criticals for the first five rolls, rather than ten. Criticals in the first three are still "supercrits".

When a plot choice results in extensive debate, I'll try to weed out the most popular trains of thought, and then call a vote on them. When voting, please respond with only a link back to the post and the number corresponding to your opinion. Other votes are discounted, including those with dice rolls or extra spaces.

Finally, note that this is not a democracy; it is a benevolent dictatorship.

Recent Events Summary:

Your enemies are still lacking a vital component of their plan, a component which may provide you with a window of opportunity to save Sir Flint. While Hemmelus's proposition of an ambush using the power of Chronomancy sounds feasible, it's also risky, and you decided to run the idea by your allies before coming to a decision.

You decided to consult with Hecate. She told you that Hemmelus's plan was possible with her powers, and she then assisted you on a Dream Walk. You were able to locate Donovan's dream, calm his nightmares, and tell him about the plan.

The morning after your chase, you discovered Yi Fang on his way to calling upon a fair lady, as he put it. You cloaked yourself and followed him, and he ended up at the Black Lady's room. That didn't surprise you - but what did is when he offered to take her hand in marriage as a means to unite their countries.

Melody evaded committment, but now you've somehow been roped into a double date with Abigail and the two leaders.

The four of you made your way to breakfast, and were joined by Auriel.

You've spoken with Auriel about the plan, and reminded her of a need to learn Spirit magic.

Meanwhile, you brought Abigail to the Nemesis. Her hand is now fully restored, thanks to your powers - and then some.

You've informed Fang about the truth of your origins, and the plan to save Donovan using Hecate's powers. He took it rather well, all considered.

And now, the real war meeting is about to begin.

>Last time...

<I don't have to permanently integrate them to dock them,> you say. <It's a carrier ship - this is what it's build for. It's shielded against he skysever, so they should be able to hitch a ride.>

Fang frowns. <But without the additional magic, they'll only be able to fly independently for a few minutes at a time. Enough to launch a salvo, double back, dock again...and I doubt that we could use all of them at once and have them all docking and un-docking from a moving airship in the middle of the battle. Still. A little extra is better than nothing. They're already prepared in case of a preemptive strike on Archon. Let me know when you plan on flying it there.>

<Do you really think Archon might be attacked?>

<I plan for the worst.>

You think about the situation as he moves off. If Melody used the staff of winds to shield his fleet, like he'd originally envisioned, you'd have a huge amount of extra firepower. But then, you'd need some sort of explanation as to how you found the staff...

Suddenly, the date you have coming up is of vital importance.

You were sort of looking forward to spending time with Abby. Relaxing, for just a moment. Trying to get all this out of your head.

No rest for the weary.

Dammit.

"Hey, you two." Abigail walks up to the Archmage before he gets far. "The meeting's about to start."

"Lead on," Fang says.

You catch up to the two of them. "How are we going to present our battle strategy?" you ask.

"I'll do the mouthwork," Fang says. "I was discussing the matter with Vin, Vellik and Adavan. And Arcturis."

"I'm surprised he was willing to talk."

"I don't believe he has the best of relationships with his son," Fang says, "but I do think he'll kill to get him back. In any case, Adavan had several excellent ideas that I've implemented into a more specific strategy." Fang smiles. "I get the feeling he's done this before."

"Well, he was Hecate's general," Abigail says.

"That was sarcasm, councilor."

"Oh." She smiles. "I knew that."

Eventually, you arrive in the audience chamber you met in the other day - though the long table has been replaced by a slightly larger one.

Your alliance is already there, mostly seated. Fang and Abigail take positions at the table. You sit between her and Steward; past the robot are the various representatives from the Great Forest, and then up and around the other side are those from haven, then the Blackwaters, and then Duke Vellik and Obis.

The doors open again. You don't need your eyes to tell who it is. Sandalphon strides into the room, leading Anahita, Raphael, and Charmeine, as well as the Prince Quas Deva, the blue-tinged, well-decorated Atlantian. The angel flourishes his cape, then sits down in his chair, folding his arms.

Obis stands from his seat. He has his serious face on; none of the flippancy or irreverance he showed at the party. "My Lord Flint. Highests, and Most High. Archmage. Lords and Ladies of Venia." He bows his head. "Kan-Abar, and I, owe you a debt for your cooperation that I cannot ever repay. My country is shamed by what it has done. I hope, that in this conflict, whatever grudges are incurred do not extend too far into the future."

"Not at all," Arcturis says, "considering Nulis will be held accountable. Kan-Abar is not at guilt, Prince Vin; its self-proclaimed leader is. Justice will be delivered. To you, and your countrymen."

"...thank you."

Do you have anything to add? Or do you encourage anyone else to speak?

I know we asked about Steward's servers last thread to artifact and he basically told us that he wasn't interested.

However, I still think we should artifact Steward's Super Secret Weapon so we can maximize its power before the battle.

We knew melody from before the negotiations, and fang didn't know we knew.

The earth mage Abby dueled in Archon covered himself with rock as armor, but that's only technically similar.

>>
<This is a good moment, Abigail,> you say. <You should add to that.>

"Well said, my Lord Flint," Abigail says. "I speak for Archon when I say that there shall be no undo debts incurred here, Prince Vin. Some might say that such a price is justified, or even necessary - but I disagree. This is our first step - for all of us - to make the world a better place. To end the long stalemates, and the tensions, to unite for one purpose. The conflicts we face today will be a crucible of our peaceful future. We will not abandon your country, now, or after this war is over."

Obis's face tightens. He seems to struggle for the words. Eventually, he settles for simple. "Thank you, Abigail."

"You're very welcome, Obis."

"Your words are well chosen, councilor," Raphael says. Everyone looks to the angel. You listen carefully - this is a man you need to win over. "I wonder, though. Do you truly speak for Archon?"

"I do." She looks at Fang. "Unless the Archmage disagrees?"

Fang shakes his head. "I couldn't have put it better myself."

"In your case," Sandalphon says, "that's certainly true."

Fang and Sandalphon suddenly lock one another into a staring contest. Abigail clears her throat. Fang sighs, and pointedly turns his head down the table.

All the Highest look surprised at that, but they don't comment.

You want that moment to sit in their minds - Abigail ultimately being in charge of Archon's policy - and so you remain silent.

You notice that Melody seems quite interested in this, too. You weren't thinking about what you'd said to her earlier, but it's good evidence for your case that Fang is moving away from his well-worn stance as an iron-fisted ruler.

"Archmage," Arcturis says, "as we stated earlier...would you care to take the lead on our current strategy?"

"Certainly," Fang says. "If I might have the floor, Prince Vin?"

"By all means." Obis sits down.

Fang stands and moves to the end of the room. A map is already set up there - it's a relatively close up view of the border region of Kelvere and Arland. There's a valley south of Evinbrook between the Tairns and the Kanian Hills which, after the capital, is labeled the Kanian Basin.

"Our strategy lies on luring in and fighting their superior numerical force on our terms," Fang says. "We can use the territory south of Evinbrook - the basin - to create a favorable strategic situation."

He channels a bit of magic; you sense something flash with Spirit from in his robes. A colorful overlay appears over a map of the northern border of Archon.

"In red, outside of the capital, you can see the Kanian forces. This is a rough estimate of their organization based on what our scouts have been able to observe. They have two major blocks of troops, mostly demons, each one led by a demon lord. Behind them are three smaller units, a more even mix of Kanian spearmen, mages, and more summoned demons."

He taps the lower section of the map. "These are the ideal positions of our forces at the start of the battle, before engaging the enemy." His finger points out each color in turn.

"Black is Vampiria; Grey, the constructs from Va'ad.

"Green is Arland, Archon is in Orange.

"Duke Vellik's forces are gold. Forces from Haven, the Great Forest, and Felnoir are combined to form the Teal block."

He drags his finger lower. "Finally, the imperial forces are in pink, and the Atlantians in blue."

"Why," Sandalphon asks, "are we pink?"

"Gold was taken," Fang says. "Now. Our goal will be to lure and string the enemy force across the valley. Simultaneously, we will launch a targeted strike on the summoners in Kan-Abar.

"The green and orange arrows represent our first attack. Arland, using its mobility, will skermish with the demons, avoiding locking their lines together. Archon's mages will support from behind, with a large wing of the Black Lady's forces moving up the river and to the right." He taps the small grey block and the larger black block to the east of the Tairns. "Here, the constructs and the Lady's main forces lie in wait, hiding from detection on the opposite side of the river." He taps the large U-shaped arrow. "After attacking, we make a strategic retreat back down into the valley. If they don't follow, we continue to hit them until they do. Eventually, they'll move."

"How can you be sure?" Anahita asks. "Won't they suspect a trap?"

"Maybe," Fang says, "but unlike us, they're looking for this fight. They have confidence in their superior force - they'll care less about the attrition. They'll be enticed by the opportunity to crush us on relatively open ground. That's the bait we use to get them out from their entrenchment at Evinbook. And if they don't move, they'll die by a thousand cuts as Arland's cavalry slices open their front lines time and again."

"Fine," she says. "Continue."

"At this point, we withdraw and bunch up to this fallback point." Fang channels again, and the positions of the blocks move. New arrows draw themselves over the map. "Arland and Archon hold position and engage in a heavier conflict. This is the most sensitive part of the plan. The Black Lady's smaller force will move up the river in a feigned flank attack. This is designed to split the enemy forces."

He draws a triangle with his finger around the northern green, orange, and black blocks. "We'll appear to be attempting a flank along the river with a smaller force, while making ourselves a wedge. In reality, we're baiting them into attempting their own flanking maneuver. They'll see the weak swinging arm from Vampiria and think to simply drive them into the river. At the same time, their vastly larger battalion will try to move deeper into the valley and swing down around us. I've predicted their movements with the red arrows.

"This is the most dangerous time," Fang says. "If we're too slow, there's a real chance we could be encapsulated. But I don't think that will happen, because we still have plenty of room to withdraw - and withdraw we shall, back right where we came from. The northeastern segement of the Kanians will see us apparently abandoning Vampiria to avoid the larger, more devastating flank, and press forward.

"And that," Fang says, "is when we make our move."

>con't

How much does Fang know about each force? Hell, how much do WE know about each force?

These aren't standard troops he's ordering. A good chunk of them aren't human. What I'm getting at is there may be a better way to distribute our soldiers if we learn a bit more about them.

> they'll care less
I was almost ready to jump on this because "could care less" is a stupid misuse of "couldn't care less," but then I realized that it doesn't mean that at all and I'm just acting on habit; the sentence makes perfect sense -- they'll care less because of superior force.

That moment when you realize that you've become an instinctual Grammar Nazi is a frightening one.
>>
>>30824915

He's a 700 year old dictator, I'd imagine he knows a lot more about the specifics than Shadow does IC or we as player's know.

We should see how the other people in the room react to Fang's plan before we chime in ourselves. Hopefully SM plans on having some of the other miltary-minded characters chime in with suggestions or changes and then give us the opportunity to choose what we like.
>>
>>30824915
I'd say Fang knows quite a bit, considering everything he's saying right now. Especially considering how he's holding the Imperial and Haven forces in reserve, as I think the next post will show them being the clinching pins on the Kanian forces- the hard strike forces.

Nicely keeping Havens and Sandalphons forces close together, with the Large archon block as well. Which I assume is part of the deeper plan.

So now that Fang knows, should we Servant him and Melody?

I mean, even if they're already really strong, it feels like every little bit could help.

Servanting Donovan has been discussed and shot down endlessly because Flint's power level would drop significantly as a result.

I do support Servanting Melody and Fang though - we can actually withdraw our power back from them if they misbehave, if you read the power description.

"While all this is happening, our southern forces, lying in wait, will begin to move north," Fang says. "They will engage and pin the wide, flanking arm of the enemy force deep within the valley, giving us time to consolidate.

"At the same time, the northern part of their army - which split off, seeing easy prey trapped by the river - will be blasted backward by Vampiria's full forces as it fords the river. The constructs shall create a firm cap at the north end of the valley. Without a larger blocker, she'll chew right through them and take out a good portion of their mages, as opposed to more replaceable demons. The empire and Atlantis will move from the south, keeping the demonic battalion busy and unable to support their human mages. With our continue retreat and subsequent reinforcement, we'll have them in this position - spread through the valley, disorganized, and trapped. The Duke, as well as the Great Forest Alliance, will play a supportive role as a reserve force, shoring our gaps and responding to any emergency situations."

Fang taps the paper. "Once we have them in this position, we let loose with the big guns. It will be important to keep the Demon Lords focused on this fight. From there, it's a matter of time. The strike team in Kan-Abar will move to take out their summoners, in particular, Nulis, who, if our intelligence is correct, is the direct link for at least two Demon Lords."

Dis guy. i'd at least want to go take a look at the country she governs before committing to servanting her.
>>
Sandalphon nods. "Your plan is sound. But perhaps the imperial forces could be split, helping to cap both the north and south?"

Fang shakes his head. "The constructs make a small block, but they're more powerful than you give them credit for. I want to be more cautious than that, besides. They can summon more demons - we'll be facing the largest battalion in the deepest part of the valley. On top of that, we have almost no time to train our forces in acting in any effective mixture. It's best if our armies keep together, with those they know best, as much as possible."

"What about the navies?" Auriel asks. "I'm sure we won't be sitting back and letting this happen."

"Councilor Xu?" Fang says.

Yong Xu stands. "Adding together our forces," he says, "our alliance has, available, all 4 ships from Archon, 3 from Vampiria, all 3 from Arland, 4 from the empire, and 1 from Haven - a total of 15. Kan-Abar, along with the airships they captured in Kelvere, has 8; and that's assuming they all arrive at this battle, which they won't. We'll have vastly superior naval firepower. We can't strike too early, or we'll overplay our hand. Once we get them where we want them, we'll bring up the others, and from there, it'll be a matter of running them off. Once we've established control over the basin's airspace, we'll be able to safely traverse to lower altitudes and lay down real fire support. That should help disperse them over the valley, as well, and keep the formations separated."

"Hmm..." Sandalphon rubs his chin, considering the map on the wall.

Do you have opinions, or ideas?

I think Sandals is looking for a way to get some angels in on the Kan-Abar strike team so we should prepare for that.

thank you for the clarification SM, and also the reminder about the velarion

since its basically a hunk of useless fucking metal at the moment, we could have the nemesis cannibalize its weaponry to add to our firepowah. It's not like the Ring City is using the thing anyway.
>>
>>30825299
It would be great if we could SNEAK SNEAK SNEAK our way up to each enemy airship, pocket it, and then transport it back to the Nemesis for instantaneous cannibalization.

The Nemesis can presumably remain cloaked throughout the process, but someone is bound to notice an entire airship crew raining down from the sky.
>>
>>30825424
>>30825393
>>30825374

From what Auriel said last time the Nemesis itself is remaining on the battlefield for the Chronomancy support, while the Strike Team is already going after the summoners from within Kan-Abar, via Yi Fangs idea to "abuse" our manaporting shenanigans.
>>
I think we need more info on the strike force. It seems people think we'll have time for fighting in this main battle before porting over there when I'm not really sure since we have to coordinate an entire fucking army.
>>
>>30825179

>>
>>30825392
This. We can Pocket at least one airship, but we don't have any room for more.

Hopefully we can take out at least two airships, maybe three, in this manner.
>>
>>30825449
That would make it a good idea for us to set our teleport anchor to the Nemesis right?
>>
>>30825501
It doesn't work like that for moving objects.
>>
>>30825501
Or an anchor to the edge of where the battlefield will be, since an anchor to the airship will just be to that space. The measure would be efficient for getting us out of Kan-Abar after the summoners get defeated, for sure.
>>
"Do we have any specific intelligence on the demon lords themselves?" you ask Fang.

"We know some details on three," Fang says. "First is the most straightforward. It didn't use magic in the fight that was observed, but showed extreme physical strength and physical regeneration. Severed parts began to regrow on their own into lesser versions of itself.

"Second, a demon that apparently specializes in poison. My scouts had a teleportation prepared for a faster escape, which is the only reason one of them lived long enough to tell us what happened. The demon vaporized to gas. The veins of the man that breathed that gas ran black, and he fell dead almost instantly. The man that made it back to me was scratched by the demon. A similar poison spread through him at a slower rate. My men were unable to devise a cure; he was dead in 12 hours.

"We have reports from Lord Waterford on the third demon," Fang continues. "It seems to be balanced, if a bit more mundane - physically powerful, but more dangerous from its magic and the variety of attacks is possesses."

"Anything on the fourth?" Arcturis asks.

"No. It seems to have maintained a defensive posture in Kan-Abar itself. Every scout that has been sent failed to report anything useful or has not returned at all."

>>30825479

Magical communication lines are standard for all armies.

Modern Venian armies have their command structures arranged in duplicate (or triplicate, for Kan-Abar) to mitigate the effects of sudden magical death. Battalions are fractured into smaller units which are each protected by one of several mages; essentially; the normal soldiers clash while the mages try to take on another out. Once a unit's magical support falls, the rest are quick to follow.

Siege weapons are only rarely used, and tend to be magical in nature. Airships and magic make quaint items like catapults and battering rams relatively obsolete.

Hello anons I've noticed some interesting things regarding Hemmelus' plans and just how much coordination they require on the parts of us and our trusted allies, so I thought I'd try to outline some of them in the middle of this mess of planning!

First measure:
-The D-Lords need to attempt summoning a Fifth in order for Sandy to lay the Sigil down in the first place.
>this means we can't kill the summoners too early if we want Donny
>>same for stopping the sigil itself, can't find it if he doesn't bring it out
>>>this also means that Sandy will wait for the right time the D-Lords summon at the battle, potentially putting our allies in harms way to ensure the D-Lords' have a chance to get him the final piece for Hyperions summoning.

Second measure:
-The Chronomancy attempt relies on Hecate and Hemmelus working together at the right time for the expressed purpose of giving us enough time to kill the summoners and our allies enough time to up their measures against Sandalphon.
>Hecate and Hemmelus will be working together so it may be good to get them on the same page and have them meet, since he'll be needing her power and be the one coordinating it.
>>this is assuming that our immediate allies which are essential for this measure won't be injured or killed while Sandy anticipates the right moment the D-Lords try to penta summon, so it would be a good idea to ensure that they (Hemmelus, Adavan) are well protected however we can.
>>
I just can't help but feel like we're missing something here. Considering all the crazy shit we and our allies can pull off this seems a little too vanilla for a big ass war.
>>
Third measure:
-We need to kill the summoners in Kan-Abar after (or just as) Sandalphon has arrayed the Sigil onto the Penta summoning and after the Chronomancy has been initiated as intended if we wish to save Donny and stop the Sigil summoning of Hyperion, and all within the time limit the D-Lords and Sandy have been caught within it.
>killing the summoners defeats the D-Lords. If we don't do it quickly enough then they'll do what they want, which is what we don't want. It has to be finished before the Chronomancy expires, although killing them as the Chronomancy begins is better, we just have to time it WELL.
>>if we take too much time and don't arrive at the battlefield before the chronomancy finishes, well, we won't be there when it does, and won't be present for intervening in the aftermath results. This is also combined with the issue of Obis dealing with Kullia, and brother.

Fourth measure:
-The aftermath of all of this, IF it succeeds the way Hemmelus plans it.
>The D-Lords are desummoned, many of our allied forces will likely have suffered losses, Sandalphon will be very very mad, and the world will know Hecate is alive.
>>Anything can happen.

Also don't forget to meditate our shards regularly in the upcoming days! They have passive stat boosts as well!

"Archmage, what are your plans for the strike team?"

"The strike team needs to be made up of two groups," he says. "The first group provides a distraction that enables the second group to penetrate the central fortress and reach the summoners. In either case, it's going to be an extremely dangerous job. The fourth demon lord will probably be on-site in Kan-Abar." <At least until they sigil arrives at the battle,> he tells you privately. "John, if you're comfortable with it, I'd prefer to have you there. You're powerful and capable of stealth. You should lead the team that infiltrates the palace, along with the Prince Vin, whom I fear will walk to Kan-Abar even if you refuse to take him."

"You have me, Archmage," he says. "The fight against Nulis is my fight. I won't be denied."

"It seems to me," Sandalphon says, "that the distraction needs to be a group that, in the worst case, can deal with the last demon lord in a toe-to-toe battle." He looks at Fang. "I'm the only one capable of that."

What is your response?

Not to sound like an idiot, but why wouldn't we kill a Demon Lord if we can?

Sandalfaggot is likely going to flip a shit and attack us anyways.

Very good point there, unless he can somehow hide his magical presence.
>>
>>30825840
Because Hemmelus' plan is the One way that we save Donny AND take out the Sigil... it's the central point of why he suggested the Chronomancy in the first place.
>>
Guys, Sandals wants on the strike team in order to keep us from killing the summoners until his plan is ready. We kind of don't want the guy behind all this to meet up with his conspirators if we do want to eventually take these summoners out.

On the other hand, removing Sandals from the main battle could give our allies a better shot at pulling off the chronomancy plan.

So it's really down to what we'd prefer.
>>
>>30825830
"Since I obtained my Eclipse upgrade, Sandalphon, I believe I have a very good chance against a demon lord myself."

"And since I upgraded Abigail, so too does she!"

>>
>>30825886
From my perspective it's a gamble.

If we can get the other two reasonable Highest on our side I'd like Sandy to come with us even if it's a huge risk to our operation there since then we'd have just that one bitch Highest to protect the Sigil against our attack.
>>
Sandalphon knows we'd oppose him being on the strike team...
He knows what would happen if it succeeded too soon...
Hmmm.
>>
>>30825886
Take him out of the battle. If we get Raphael on our team, our plan becomes nearly impossible to stop.
>>
There's no way in hell Sandalphon wouldn't personally be at the sigil. I bet anything it's inside the palace.
>>
>>30825830
I find it strange that Sandy doesn't want to oversee the Sigil. This must mean he's either trying to get in contact with someone at Kan-Abar or he's just put keeping the summoners alive for long enough at the highest priority.

Putting Sandy on the strike team increases our chance of saving Donovan, but it decreases our chances of actually winning the war. We NEED to stop those summoners real quick after the Sigil activates and if Sandy stops us we've fucked the world over.
>>
>>30825830

the entire point of sending in a stealthy strike team is so that we don't have to deal with the demon lord

why would you bring a tank on a spec ops mission that's straight dumb
>>
>>30825941
That's a good point.
>>
>>30825956
Were you not paying attention.

There's going to be a distraction team and a stealth team on the strike force.

Sandy is volunteering for the distraction team that will fight the Demon Lord.
>>
>>30825927
>>30825886
So you don't think Sandalphon is the one that's going to array the sigil on the penta summoning?

Because if he isn't, that's big trouble.
If he is, then wherever he is he's going to plan to use the sigil.

It almost sounds to me like he wants to come to Kan-Abar, so the demon lords will teleport in the others to protect the summoners, attempt their penta and then sigil it right in Kan-Abar to summon Hyperion and take out the demon lords as well to appear as a hero in the last moment to the Kanian people.

If anything I suggest we project these suspicions to Fang for some of his input.

"Leave sneaking to the Shadow Mages - it is our specialty."
>>
>>30825830
<While that may be the case, are you capable of any sort of magical stealth? Do you have any way of shielding your presence? >>
>>30826000
I guess nows the time to ask steward if his secret weapon is demon-lord proofed.
>>
>>30826000
We did. Sandy is trying to say he's the only one that can hold off the demon lord.
>>
"Most High," you say, "with all due respect, we need to use caution, at least at first. Your power is formidable, but when we reach Kan-Abar, every demon within a mile of the city will know you're there."

"But that's the point," he says. "Let them come. They'll rush out to stop me. I'll empty the city. It'll give you a much easier time."

"I also believe that Steward has his own weapon prepared to join the strike force."

"Hmm?" Sandalphon taps the table. "I had assumed that weapon would be making up for his small numbers when his battalion caps the northern end of the valley."

Steward looks at you. "...I have reached a similar conclusion, John. I will need 003 to play the role I currently occupy in the Archmage's plan of attack."

You frown in thought.

Your own current battle strategy makes Sandalphon the best choice to accompany you to Kan-Abar...but he's the very man that wants to use the demons to power his sigil. If you got far enough, he might very well stop you himself from doing any real damage. Any help he'd give you would be superficial.

But then, if he's not at the battle...your allies could probably get away with a lot more, and their plans wouldn't be nearly as disturbed.

But there's more to it than that. You're positive Sandalphon would want to oversee the sigil personally - but he's offering to take himself out of the battle, right where the sigil has to be positioned. Like you, he must have some faster mode of transportation to make a quick exit from Kan-Abar. Or maybe he's even depending on the demon lord for that. If they can call each other, it stands to reason that he might hitch a ride...

You might be able to get the Most High to back down from coming along on the strike team. But who will replace him? And do you really want to, besides?

What do you do?
>>
>>30826020
I see, I see. Hmm. I'll think some more on this, SM.
>>
>>30826020

Replace Sandalphon with Melody and the Staff of the Winds. This achieves multiple goals.

1) Keeps Sandalphon away from the Sigil which is probably in Kan-Abar.

2) Prevents Sandalphon from collaborating with Demon Lords in the area, and spoiling our surprise attack. If he's part of our strike team, he might just fucking TELL the Demon Lords there's another force.

3) Melody is much stealthier than Sandalphon - and with the Staff of the Winds, and together with us, we'll be able to fight a Demon Lord.
>>
>>30826020
"Why not Lord Raphael and Lady Anahita?"
>>
>>30826020
What about Melody? Sandalphon respects her power, and she has shadow element.
>>
>>30826068
But... that takes Melody away from leading the forces of vampiria, which is not a good idea, as the battle will depend on her there.

...although if it weren't for that fact it would be fucking perfect.
>>
>>30826068
>>30826086
Without the Staff of Winds we can't keep Yi Fang's air bots going.

Melody is better with the main force. Especially since her forces play a large role in pinning the Kanian's.
>>
>>30826020

ok so lets see who could we bring along to go toe-to-toe with a demon lord

Black Lady
Fang
uh
... well i guess it would take like 5 mins to get Leviathan put back together wouldn't it? take our half, acquire the keystone of atlantis 2+2

its an option but i am still p wary about reviving the guy
>>
>>30826020
"How about Councillor Fang?"

Don't say this.
>>
>>30826068
I thought we wanted her to bolster our airships, and I don't think the Staff is common knowledge yet.
>>
>>30826108
Leviathan is literally a leviathan. I bigass water serpent.

He's less sneaky than Sandalphon.
>>
Why not Raphael and Anahita?

Raphael has already fought a demon lord.
>>
>>30826128
Well sandles said he didunt wanna be sneaky so THERE
>>
>>30826068
No, Melody needs to say with the Min Forces and use the Staff to keep the Sever off all our fighters, assuming we can convince her to use it. That'd also leave the other airships, and any angels in the main battle free to fly while the demons cannot. Plus, like you said, she's stealthy which isnt really what we need for a distraction.
>>
>>30826128
As Sandy pointed out, we're not looking for him to be sneaky, but be a distraction.
>>
>>30826020
Take him along with us, I'm not sure why we're debating this.

We need his plan to work for just long enough for us to turn the tables, so if he wants to go to Kan-Abar, then he goes to Kan-Abar.
>>
>>30826095

Put Sandalphon at the head of Vampiria's army, then.

>>30826098

Eh, this is actually a good point. I don't suppose we could just give the Staff to Yi Fang then? I still think we should Servant both Fang and Melody on general power boost purposes.

i thought we were looking at how to best get the city to flip the fuck out. bigass water serpent is kind of scary, and to top it all off kan-abar is right on the ocean. it's leviathan's turf

the demon lord guarding the palace is like 'what the FUCK its a Gyarados,' bails on the palace, and we sneak in while leviathan just throws a shitfit

mission accomplished
>>
>>30826157
>>Put Sandalphon at the head of Vampiria's army, then.
Thats an even worse idea then taking Sandalphon with us. and they HATE each other.

>>Eh, this is actually a good point. I don't suppose we could just give the Staff to Yi Fang then?
I'll see this happening when She accepts his marriage invitation, by which I mean, no time soon.
>>
>>30826020
Sandalphon is right, but.

"No matter how powerful the mage is, a knife in the back will seriously cramp their style. I understand that the angels you have worked with all have a great deal of experience commanding armies-and are respected more besides. Therefore I am not concerned about your lack of leadership over your own forces, you need someone with you, if only to watch your back."

And we can put someone to keep an eye on him.
>>
>>30826020
Don't debate, if he crosses us, we can destroy him.
>>
Honestly, most of our plans seem to revolve around things we haven't set up yet and we're being asked for a decision now.
>>
>>30826194
No, it was a pretty good idea, but I just dont think we could get leviathan free, AND in fighting shape before the battle
>>
>>30826068
This guy's got a point. We can't let Sandalphon make contact with the demon lords.

So why not bring Raphael and Anahita along? One for experience against Demon Lords, and the other as Sandalphon's lackey so he thinks he has a spy.
>>
>>30826194
I'd say we should get the other half of Leviathan, and then release him at a critical moment, like when Sandalphon reveals "Phase Two" of his plan.
>>
>>30826020
kinda want to bring him with us so that we can eat him when things inevitably go tits-up. Probably worth 60+xp
>>
>>30826224
Because the sigil is probably in Kan-Abar, if he wants to go there. And if it isn't, that means that the sigil won't be as protected because Sandalphon will be with us.
>>
>>30826230
Still not all that comfortable with eating a fellow Elemental Lord. He was a dick, but that doesn't mean he deserves getting half-eaten.
>>
>>30826224

Supporting this version of the plan.

Keep Sandalphon in the main battle. Melody stays in the main battle with the Staff of the Winds.

We bring our stealth strike team - Raphael and Anahita cover each others backs and make a distraction for us. We don't need them to fight the Demon Lord to a standstill, just keep him busy.
>>
>>30826248
>Sandalphaggot
>Elemental lord
>>
>>30826206

there's a solution, im sure. this is why SM is kind of sitting back atm. i don't think he'd pull another 'lol you're just digging a deeper hole' again so soon

the revival of leviathan is really our last trump card that we can play on this one guys. all our power players have a role.

hecate is going to do the chronomancy thing

melody has a country to lead, and so does Fang

we're busy doing SNEAK SNEAK SNEAK

i GUESS Abigail with her new Fist could be distracting but because of her waifu status nobody would even consider that

we need someone supa stronk to basically be a big annoying powerhouse, and leviathan is the last guy we actually trust to do that

>>
>>30826248
Oh, I thought you meant Leviathan.
>>
>>30826020
Alright. I've thought about that, SM. Oh yes have I!

If we take Sandalphon along with us, he'll make a great distraction- just what we'll need.
But it's also a signal to the demon lord and the kanian summoners to hide and or protect themselves, or incur the other demon lords- which may penta, which sandy may sigil. We'll be there for it if that's the case.

If he doesn't, he's going to interrupt things to wait for the opportune time, and then change himself to the battlefield where he'll use the sigil, the main battlefield where the chronomancy plan is being put into place.

That's why we'll fly to the edge of the main battlefield ahead of time and plant an anchor there- if he transports out of there, we do so as well!

>>30826206
Isn't it intriguing? We haven't even touched the Earth mana pool in kan-abar yet! Ahahahaha!
>>
>>30826257
But the problem is we neither have him right now nor can we bring him up.

>acifyan Hyperion

I'm not sure what that first word means, but captcha KNOWS
>>
So few bullet points for our response:

>Don't bring Sandalphon
>Bring Melody or Raphael/Anahita
>Resurrect Leviathan

WAIT. Ask Vellik if he still has Magnock's staff. We can let Melody use it.
>>
>>30826257
No, Im personally not considering Abigail because I want her and Illa in the main battle holding off that Poison demon lord from killing all our dudes.
The both of them are really their only defense if we're not there. if thy give it enough trouble, that might make it keep the other Lords around as well.
>>
>>30826309
That's strange. That's one of the enunciation methods of an ancient hebrew word related to the verbs "collecting" and "distributing."
>>

>Artifact Hyperion
Let's do it.
>>
>>30826291

what, are we going to start the fight immediately after we convene this meeting? we can get him, I don't think that's an issue

i guess we could say to sandalphon 'why, lets bring Donovan the demon-slayer along. he's battle tested against demon lords.' just for the lols of it.

Then we have a 'plan' to go with, and we can dart over to atlantis to bring leviathan out once we convene

>>30826333

>what, are we going to start the fight immediately after we convene this meeting? we can get him, I don't think that's an issue
We have a part of the gem, we don't actually know if we have all the parts of the gem needed.

Then there's dealing with the fallout of Atlantis being removed of their infinite water supply, and then discovering that it was the water lord all along.
>>
>>30826333
That may work
>>
>>30826345
>>30826347

>>

>>
>>30826333

>>
>>30826340
>>30826309

>>
>>30826364
It does? Damn.
>>
>>30826346
What I'm saying is we need something to turn down Sandals with NOW and all we have is a plan we can't even talk about that we can't bring up until LATER.
>>
>>30826333
No, I'm pretty sure bringing Sandalphon along is the right move, regardless of where the sigil really is.

Like Melody isn't an option at all.
>>
>>30826363
Well that's the point of being able to be anywhere he is! Neither of the ideas involve stopping the pentarch outright.

>>30826333
Though I like this much more than those!
>>
>>30826370
Even if that happens, we can have Melody or Fang, Raphael, and Anahita all with us.
>>
>>30826347
Well, We still have one Artification left... If we tried to use it on shade, and like, servant him, would that be enough of a power boost to let it keep up with a Demon Lord?
>>
>>30826377
Why do we need to turn Sandalphon down now?

How can he possibly do more damage with us, then he would be at the Sigil?
>>
>>30826390
Shade doesn't have a soul, which you kind of need for Servanting.
>>
>>30826390

>>
>>30826402

>>
>>30826406
>>30826405

>>
>>30826411
There's gonna be at least one Demon Lord there already, and what one knows, they all know.

And I'm not sure how that's worse than him possibly fucking up the Chronomancy and the save Flint plan.
>>
>>30826020
I have a GREAT idea guys!

UNPOCKET THE WATER GEM

TURN TOWARDS THE ATLANTIAN NOBLES

SAY OUTLOUD IN OUR SERIOUS VOICE

"Would you like to free Leviathan?"
>>
SO.

As far as I can see, the plan should be:

>Let Sandy come
>get Leviathan
>get him to stomp around in Kan-Abar distracting both Sandy and the Demon Lord.

Sandy gets to think everything is going according to plan, we get to throw a giant 700 year old wrench in it and get him knocked out of the fight until Donny is saved.

How's that?
>>
everyone DOES know that Sandals is going to back stab the fuck out of us of at Kan-Abar right?
>>
It seems like the most popular choices are

>replace Sandalphon with the Black Lady

>replace Sandalphon with Anahita/Raphael

Anything else before I call a vote? Or do you want to discuss further? Did I leave one out?

None of these choices preclude trying to fix Leviathan in the meantime, or even taking some other strategy, but you need to tell Sandalphon something for the moment even if you have other intentions.
>>
>>30826433
This is worth considering. Maybe the best way to fuck up Sandals plan is to just let him do what he wants and plan around him?
>>
>>30826444
This might actually work better than using Leviathan as just a alternative to Sandy.
>>
>>30826450
You left out having Fang or Melody along with Magnock's staff.
>>
>>30826447
Since he needs the pentarch to summon Hyperion then he certainly won't be killing the Demon Lord he's fighting.

Which means he's expecting the Demon Lord to call in his friends to protect the summoners. It's obvious!
>>
>>30826444

I'll support this.

Anyone else on board?
>>
>>30826333

the problem with that is then we have two half-power melody clones running around. we need her strong in one location, not half-strength in two.

>>30826450

yeah i guess the leviathan plan can come after we actually say something. im down for a vote

>implying Leviathan won't immediately attack us when we fix him
Remember that part Hecate said about how the only things strong enough to split the gem like that were Hyperion and Erebus? Erebus totally did that to Leviathan.

Leviathan is a hell of a lot less reasonable than Hecate on top of having spent his 700 years suffering instead of in manapool sleep. Have fun waking him up and telling him "Oh no that was totally the OTHER Erebus that fucked you up. Sorry bout that."
>>
>>30826486
uh the Atlanras was never owned by Leviathan, they just found half of him and built a nation around it.
>>
>>30826495

As an aside, when we do free Geb, we should probably watch from a distance. Let Steward be the first thing Geb sees.

>>
>>30826462
Then since the Nemesis will have a jump drive installed in it within two days why don't we just switch the battlefield it's at to wherever (Kan-Abar in this case) Sandalphon is using the Sigil, and then have Hemmelus/Adavan who can be on it initiate the Chronomacy with calling Hecate from there?
>>
>>30826518
>>30826524

Honestly, at this point, I think we should just let him come and make our own backup plans in secret. it seems a lot worse to have him wandering around where we cant see him, rather then looking right at him when he launches his inevitable betrayal.
Leviathan I can take or leave, but I think we should get him out before the battle just to let him get any bad feelings towards us out of his system. we cant have him screwing with the Chronomancy, and he'd have the capability and arrogance to do so, going by what Hecate said.

We should probably let the Prince and Princess Devas know, so they can tell Atlantis.

I definitely think we should. We don't gain anything by keeping them in the dark and we need to be prepared for Leviathan's appearance.

And if (as it's very likely) Sandles plans to operate the sigil on the pentarch that the demon lords muster in Kan-Abar, if they teleport in to defend their summoners, we can still have the Nemesis with Adavan/Hemmelus jump in to chronomancy that area instead, and go continue with eliminating the summoners while Auriel Nemesis' Sandy from outside the Chronomancy range like she wanted.

No, don't tell the Angels shit. We're going to have to fight them eventually and I'd prefer if many Highest died in the battle.
>>
>>30826804

Fang is on our side, he can do the logistics on the ground. We've got bigger fish to fry
>>
Not to sway the current conversation, but I feel itneeds to be brought up:At this point, the I believe the Chaos' whole plan is to use the huge amount of magic and chaos of this battle in order to break down the patch. I feel like we should think about the fact that maybe, with our Leviathan plans, maybe dropping anther huge source of magic and thus, chaos into the middle of this situation maaay backfire on us.
>>
So on the to do list:

>Convince Rapheal and Charmiene
>Get Melody to use the staff on the drones
>Free Leviathan

All before this fight starts.
>>
>>30826838
Except Leviathan won't be at the battle.
>>
>Just now realizing that the poison DL was using a version of Shadefang poison.
>>
>>30826838
I'm pretty sure the plan is to slip out of Hyperion's summoning circle.

That's probably Dave's plan too.
>>
so how many lives will we be screwing over by taking the Keystone from Atlantis?
>>
>>30826845
Add
>touch he earth manapool in Kan-Abar to teleport our team in
>meditate our shards past normal, and silence past broken
to that
>>
>>30826859
If they're working together, we're fucked.
>>
>>30826838

i actually had similar considerations, but we're being backed into a corner here. i would honestly prefer the slightly less powerful leviathan to be summoned than hyperion.

we need to keep in mind that the battle does not matter. it is literally being fought so that we can stop the pentaverate and hyperion's summoning

sm if you're writing this story to slowly get more chaotic as time passes because of your overarching order/chaos plot you're doing a fine goddamn job

goddamn
>>
>>30826868
more than a few. but don't worry it's for JUSTICE
>>
>>30826859
>>30826881
Y'know. Dave makes a better Chaos Avatar than the actual Avatar.
>>
>>30826881

If Sandalphon critfails his summoning role, I guarantee that Dave will give everyone in a 100-mile radius the shadowy tentacle.
>>
>>30826868
Infinite source of free clean water.
From a major metropolis/capital, which probably uses it for everything from drinking to transportation to personal hygiene and carrying out sewage, etc etc.
>>
>>30826898
so probably many is the correct answer.
>>
"Well, if that's the case, Steward," you say, "I'd be honored to have you help me, Most High."

"Indeed," Sandalphon says. "Just don't forget what I told you. Today, I will clear your path. Today."

"I appreciate that."

Fang gives you a subtle nod. You're sure he was thinking pretty much the same thing you were. Having Sandalphon along for the ride is dangerous, but you need his plan to work - up to a point. And if he's with you, the Archmage won't have to worry about him.

And you think you might be able to get a certain water elemental to throw a wrench in the Highest's plans...

The meeting continues as the various leaders debate finer points of positioning and how the airships should be arranged. You don't have much to contribute in terms of tactics, so you let the others do the talking. They make a few adjustments, but Yi Fang's general strategy remains backbone of the battle ahead.

The meeting breaks up after that.

You've got a lot on your plate.

But then, that's how it always is.

TO BE CONTINUED!

Probably, Sunday.

I'm going to sleep, people.

This was a great thread for me, even though it was slow paced. The discussion was excellent, and I love the feeling of balancing on a knife's edge. You understand there's only so much I can plan outside of your major decisions...the tension of not really knowing what's going to happen is exciting!
>>
>>30826930

Cool beans.

Good night, SM
>>
>>30826930
See you next time, SM. Thanks for the thread!
>>
>>30826930
Thanks for running SM. The tension building planning is working out nicely, and there's a nice absence of heated argumentation too.

Will continue stalking your twitter for more.
DON'T FORGET TO BRUSH.

Can't Leviathan do that if he wants?
>>
>>30827176
>if he wants

Big if there. He might just let the Atlanteans die and go back to his own palace.
>>
>>30827196
Then we steal his palace, piece by piece, and move it to Atlantis?
>>
>>30827222
He still won't, even if it's only out of spite towards us.

Leviathan was That Guy of the Lesser Elementals.
>>
Well this talk of Leviathan has me thinking...

The war is going forward because winter is ending, and the water mages are all about snow and blizzards on top of the whole wavey wavey business...

Why not just suggest to Leviathan to extend the worlds' winter? Or at least around Kelvere?

Have him make winter fall.
>>
>>30827717
Well, we first gotta see the state Leviathan is in. He could just as well be half mad and unreasonable
>>
>>30830316
it might be smart to have Hecate with us when we free Leviathan.
