Previous Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=homeless+mutant+questPastebins:http://pastebin.com/UuVeJFighttp://pastebin.com/98mpGLrhYou are John James Green. You’re thirteen. You have a lot of things going on your head. Some of them just came dangerously close to leaking out, but you girded yourself and clapped down on the seams of your thoughts, keeping it all inside. A part of you desperately wanted to tell your history teacher about the fundamental wrongness that seems to have infested your sister, and about the social services people coming by this afternoon, and about many other things, but you decided not to let it slip. Heading out into the waning afternoon, you find your sister waiting for you by the school gates, chewing her hair absently. She seems oddly started when she sees you, but it passes instantly, and your sister slips back into her incorrigible smile.“Hey, kiddo.” She seems to falter somehow. In the stretching of the light, for that moment of indecisive silence, you remember her as a burning icon, her edges infused with the failing sun. It was just the light, just the angle of things, but it was – it was like she became, for a moment, something not entirely human.“Have nice day?” >[ ] Yes, you did [lie]. >[ ] No, you didn’t.
>>30835813>>[ ] No, you didn’t."but its good to see you"
Seeing as the hot topic is currently the recent choice if powers, and the same questions seem to come up in each thread now, imma just get the answers out of the way right from the get-go: >1. Is Draconic Breath LVL1 basically pepper spray? No. The amount of pain it causes and the coverage it has of a person’s body is significantly greater than that of pepper spray. It’s more like being hit by a concentrated stream of boiler gas. Additionally, if concentrated long enough, it can ignite clothing. >2. Would Sonic Scream have been more effective against Kimura?Yes. Draconic Breath can’t really hurt her. >3. Will use of Draconic Breath help JJ get over his fire phobia? Yes. Successive uses (will positive results) will add up to a completed Phobia Trial. It can do the opposite also.>4. Will Draconic Breath require a test to use? Yes. It’ll be a Will check at DC20 minus your current number of complete Phobia Trials. So, presently, DC18. This will go up and down as JJ succeeds/fails to face his fear, and vanish completely once he’s completed the fifth trial.>4. Why doesn’t Draconic Breath have more Extrapolatives? It’s not a versatile mutation – what it offers in power it loses in utility. Them’s just the shakes.Oh, and as far as I know, nobody got the cameo from yesterday, so no bonus. But I only promised something because it was a particularly difficult one to place anyway.
>>30835813>[ ] No, you didn’t.And other anons, may we please keep the shitposting to a minimum? It sucks seeing this great quest start to spiral downward.
>>30835813>[ ] No, you didn’t.
>>30835813> [ ] Write in"...it wasn't horrible."
>>30835813>[ ] No, you didn’t."but, it's good to see you."
>>30835903Oh, this is good. I'm changing my vote from 5862 to this.
>>30835855Can Draconic Breath be used to create a smokescreen?
>>30835813>[ ] No, you didn’t.no sense in lying she's our sister >>30835855Since we did find any of this out until after the vote. Would it be possible to get a re-vote?
>>30835855Who was the cameo?
>>30835956I sent another guess on Twitter but I don't know if Crusty saw it.
>>30835855I asked a while ago on twitter but I don't think you answered, but at flight lvl3 could we use both set of wings at the same time or do you lose the arm wings when you get the back wings(which personally I don't think makes any sense)?
>>30836055I'd think losing arm wings and getting back wings. It makes the wings more useful as you can carry stuff now and fly.
>>30836055you lose the arm wingsIt makes it so that you can still carry things while flying.
>>30835855Question: If we level up a muration like dragon breath to level two do we still have the ability to use it in it's level one manifstation? Would of waited until end to ask, but won't be able to stay until end.
>[X] No, you didn’t. “It was… it was kinda…” Good, right? It was a great day. That bit where you forgot your bag and you didn’t have your book and you made a complete stuttering moron of yourself in front of your entire history class, that bit was fantastic. You can only hope it blows over when it’s time for the swim team to pull a victory over the blaggards of one of the nearby towns.“…It wasn’t horrible.” Joyce winces, and pats you on the back. “That bad, huh?” Her hand rests on your shoulder, its weight reassuring you of the solidity of things, that there are vistas of life removed from classrooms and history and school and being young in general. “Come on, I’m gonna order pizza in. Can’t get the damn oven to work…” You smile lopsidedly. Yeap, that’s your sister. As you wrench open the door to your car, one of the guys from class – you remember his name was Quire, but that’s it, his first name vanished into the depths of time – jerks by, barging your shoulder. “Spaz.” >[ ] Ignore.>[ ] Fuck you bitch fuck you imma punch your face till it makes ketchup.

>>30835942Well... I don't know about that, you really should have expected this to be kinda hardmode. It's been established that JJ can't even light a match. I guess you guys haven't even used the ability yet, but backtracking on power selections isn't something I do lightly.>>30836055Haha, that's an interesting one. I intended that you just lose the arm wings, but you know what? I'll let you pop out both if you want. It could be fun.>>30836153Yeah, you can still use it as LVL1 potency.
>>30836257I just thought the crazy shit you can pull with 4 wings would be cool as hell. Thanks
>>30836257>It's been established that JJ can't even light a matchThe people that voted either didn't read the archives or where to busy with "dragon fuck ya" to care about things like... reality.

>>30835855>It’ll be a Will check at DC20 minus your current number of complete Phobia Trials.I posted this on twitter but is this going to be the rolling mechanic for those will check?>Outside of battle:We roll before using the power as JJ contemplates on whether or not to use the power.Crit fail = flash back and JJ loses a phobia pointFail = JJ doesn’t use the powerSuccess = JJ uses the power (multiple times add up to a phobia point)Crit success = depends on what he’s doing >Inside combatJJ uses the power on pure instinct. We roll to see JJ’s reaction to the fireCrit fail = JJ faint’s like a bitch and JJ loses a phobia pointFail = JJ becomes paralyzed with fearSuccess = uses the power like normal (multiple times add up to a phobia point)Crit success = depends on what’s happening

Don't know if it was staged or not though.
>>30836257JJ has absorbed powers from those around him in nearly every single choice.Fire breath was the only one were we had a contacted mutant (our ex) to reap the power from.Big part of why allot of folks voted for it. people are going to bitch and moan anyway, there's no reason to back track.

>[X] Ignore. You could beat this guy up. Yes, you could. He’s skinny. You’re not a macho macho man, but you’re not skinny. You could mush up his nose in your fists and make him bleed all over the goddamn road. For a moment, that’s exactly what you’re about to do – you ARE going to fucking disembowel this piece of shit Quire and wear his guts as a fucking ceremonial necklace. Then... well, you don’t do that. You remember that your sister is across the car from you. You remember that the guy’s mom is holding his hand. That ‘social services’ are coming by this afternoon, to decide if your sister is a bad enough dude to raise you right and stuff. So, you don’t turn his face into total bloody ass. Even if you want it more than anything in the world right now. You just sigh and let it roll over you, like Jesus, or Buddha, or some other famous person who never hurt nobody. Ghandi or someone, there’s probably loads. “Hey!” You’re disturbed from your intense not caring by a yelp of pain. “What the fuck did you just say, you little prick!?” Your sister has him gripped by the wrist, his shoes just barely brushing at the tarmac. Quire’s face is contorted into the vista of absolute shock and humiliation of being damn near hefted off his feet by a girl, his mouth stuttering in the attempt at forming words. “Say it again, to me, you shitburger!” Her eyes. Her eyes are bulging with rage. You think you probably have one-point-zero seconds before the kid’s mom recovers from the shock of her son being accosted by this barbarian woman and flying into an indignant rage. >[ ] Duck and cover, you don’t like the look of this.>[ ] Try to calm your sister down.

>>30836333>>30836357Haha, she's just a character from a webcomic. Avalanche's powers are not geokinesis. He creates vibrational waves that are, for all intents and purposes, soundwaves.
>>30836587>>[ ] Try to calm your sister down.Ah, crap.
>>30836654Just means we need another point in it.Maybe also in agility, to negate the roll requirements.Gonna need it when we decide to fly.

>>30836307Nope, thought it would be amusing, now stop being obnoxious.
>>30836707I honestly do think we need another point in wall crawling. Agility is more important tho. And I'm pretty sure everyone else will be to enticed by the flashy powers to go for something as mundane as wall crawling.Given the way JJ rolls we need to keep all rolls to a minimum.
>>30836587>[ ] Try to calm your sister down."Sis, we have to come home, look, if we really need to, I can beat him up later."

Geointuitive vision and agility are what I'd go for first.
>>30836887I second this, though I kinda want to buy wings to make 12-year old JJ happy.
>[X] Try to calm your sister down. No, this isn’t good. “Hey, sis”– “Oh my God, let go of my son, you”–“Your son is a little shit, do you not even listen to”– “Get your hand”– “Sis! Joyce!” She looks back at you, as if from a great distance. You think her eyes might pop out of her face for a second, or that she’ll scream at you too, or that she’ll just contort into a silent, furious thing, but she doesn’t do any of that. Something in your expression dulls the fire in her eyes, and, slowly, tentatively, she lets go of the kid’s wrist. He drops down on his ass and screams something at both of you, you don’t remember what exactly. You just remember your sister telling him he’s lucky his mom’s such a shit parent, before you exit the stage, time unfurling about unremarkable the moments in between, placing you in the car, on the road, at your doorstep. On the stairs. She’s talking to them nextdoor, in the living room. The door’s ajar, and you’re not sure you’re supposed to be listening, but you can hear most of it. “…I assure you, nobody is making you do anything, Ms Green. We have total respect for whatever decision you may…” Someone grabs your hand. Hot skin, like fire in the veins. You glance back up the stairs, momentarily terrified at the thought of someone else in the house, but your anxiousness fades when you realize it’s just [JO-o-o-seph TYPHON], your best [bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz–] of many years. He was there with you during the car ride, after all, so why wouldn’t he be here? He’s gonna stay over so you can watch your dad’s old Godzilla movies. “Come on.” He says. “Let’s go have fun. I don’t think you need to hear this.”>[ ] Yeah, you don’t need to hear this.>[ ] N-N-No, no this – – isn’t right-t-t-t-t-t-t – – –

>>30835937No, not at level one, the gases expand and dissipate too quickly. They're also pretty much translucent at level 1.Higher levels will produce a lot of smoke as a byproduct of lots of fire. You can't just chuck out smoke, though.

>>30836257I think we all understand that you don't redo powers lightly. I just think most people don't realize what we're choosing. Questing is fast and loose rp, where rules by majority are usually harder to control. Usually this means that choices are presented in a simple fashion. This doesn't mean in any way, shape, or form that what you're doing is wrong, Crusty, it just means that when you present 'choice', consider what will happen when you give us a 'power' that is actually a 90% chance of a fuckup. And then say no-backsies. The tone of the quest should dictate this, but dragon breath sounds cooler then sonic breath, even if sonic breath with a little bit more ingenuity would not only augment our stealth, but also allow us to hide and attack. Additionally, when you're phrasing combat options, please do it in such a way that maybe has the stealth option at the top? JJ's spaghettied enough in combat that he probably realizes that when the choice comes down to L2 Strength/Healing vs. L4 Stealth, one is better then the other.
>>30836376It will be very close to this.Basically, whenever you WANT to use it, you'll have to make the Will check. When you use it via instinct, you'll have to make a Will check to not be terrified spaghetti.

>>30836986Well that kind of sucks. So how far would JJ be able to hit people with his breath? Because if it's as short ranged as the lvl 2 seems to imply. (1 meter tongue of flame) it's less of a ranged ability and more of a melee ability, except since we're not fireproof that's kind of a terrible thing. I'd assume that we can hit guys within at least 10 paces even at lvl 1
>>30837021lol The DC for wall crawling is 12 and look how many times we've fucked that up. DC 18 fire breath is not going to be pretty.
>>30837143Yeah, I was wrong, only 85% chance of failure, but this is JJ we're talking about. He'll burn down the entire city trying to build a fire for freezing orphans.
>[X] NO MEANS NO TYPHON.N-N-No, no this – – isn’t right-t-t-t-t-t-t – – –The universe crackles around you. Shadows slip and run like treacle, sparking along their edges, fiery outlines in a world of billowing, flowing mist. Everything reasserts itself. There is no one on the stairs. There never was. Why would there be, it’s just you and your sis now, and that’s that. There is nobody else out there to come and rescue the two of you. No knight. No gratuitous self-insert into your story. Self-insert? Why’re you thinking that? And in the evening, too. What a douchebag. --------------------------------------------------------------------You cough, the sensation coming to you in waves. Your voice gurgles, like something from deep under the sea, like something that was never meant for land. Your rub the sticky miasma out of your eyes and peer through the dark, your senses quickly acclimating, sketching out the world in an increasingly complex pattern of black and grey definition. You think you’re in a machine, or under one – all these big, long arms of metal, all these pistons and wires. Some of the cords lie around you, occasionally sparking, but the fluid all around you doesn’t seem to be conductive. Also, you’re naked. You’re naked inside of a machine. “…Johnathan?” That’s Laura’s voice. You look up, and see her slumped beside one of the great, silent machine-ribs, blood mingling with the unspecified fluid pooled across the floor. >[X] Get up, help. You stagger to your feet, and the world swoons all around, walls teetering madly. You realize that you have the worst headache in the history of ever, a sharp, searing thunder of a migraine pressed ruthlessly close to the base of your spine. You rub your neck in an attempt to assuage the pain, and freeze, momentarily stopped in your tracks by the unfamiliar sensations. There’s these… thin, leathery somethings protruding like tiny knives through your shoulder, spaced haphazardly through your flesh. Scales? Barbs? Something like that? You make a frantic check, and are relieved to find that they’re concentrated along your left shoulder blade and the upper reaches of its adjoining arm. The rest of you is protrusion-free. Willing yourself up, you push through the feeling of vertigo that assaults you once you’re on your feet, stumbling over to Laura. She watches your approach in silence, but speaks up when you sink down next to her, responding to something you must’ve mumbled out. “I will be fine.” She assures you. “I am resting.” Her tone is a little slurred, and as her hair shifts, you realize that it’s because much of the skin across her jaw has been fused into a slurry of burnt meat. The eye above it is a whited-out vacuum, its edges tinged gore-red. “I’m… imma, I’m gonna pull this”– You tap the metal bar currently ventilating her intestines – “thing out, okay?” She nods. You heave. It slides out, its exit punctuated by a hot, wet pop. Throwing it down, you cringe a little as you notice Laura’s arm slowly uncurling, bones reasserting from a state of total mutilation. >[ ] “…Where are we, Laura?”>[ ] “…What did this?” >[ ] “Can I do anything to, I dunno, help?” >[ ] Write in.

The smell stuffs itself all up in your lungs like a used-up rag, and each agonizing twitch almost seems to flick though you, like you’re feeling it too, from somewhere far removed and muted. “…help?” She shakes her head slowly. Her stare bores into you. The colour is slowly slipping back into her mauled-up eye, faint whispers of green invading the solid white. You flinch a little as she pushes her intact fingers over yours, the blood on her hands soaking into the strange, oozing afterbirth that clings to your skin. “Your eyes are different.” She says, quietly. “My… eyes?” Different how? Kinda hard, what with all the creeping, lurching walls, and the incessant chatter of the migraine shifting up and down your skull. “…What did this?” She swallows, clearing her throat, and– “Some wella’ truly fucked up shit, thass’ what.” Deep, booming voice. Behind you. You shift on your haunches and your heart pounds an extra few beats when you lay eyes on the huge, stooped form of Barracuda, his gold-plated grin gleaming through the dark. “Gotta say, lil’ nigga, you got a real way of gettin’ your ass into some sore-ass bull-shit.” He’s holding his ribs like they might fall out of he lets go. Ok people retconning is not an option, Dragon breath certainly wasn't the smartest or most reliable choice but it's one the majority voted for. So we need to make the best with it.So practicing with matches/using a little of our breath seems like a good idea. What are your thoughts on getting Laura to help, not only could it be useful but it'll allow them to grow closer and provide interesting interactions. Thoughts anons? We really need a good plan to get this to work otherwise the power is useless and occasionally downright detrimental since it can activate instinctively and we still have to roll for it.
>[X] Promise to help him get out. >[X] Promise that you WILL finish him off even if he kills you. You don’t want to fight this guy. You think you could kill him, but you also think he could kill you. And, frankly, as fucking horrific and sociopathic and utterly ridiculously monstrous as he is, Barracuda is a hard man to truly hate. You have a problem with Creeper – a strict ideological and personal one, one that has set you both onto the same, inevitable road. Your problem with the ‘Cudda isn’t so much personal as it is practical – as in, you have a problem with the idea of being in the same room as him, and you have a problem with the notion of pissing him off, and you have a problem with just being close enough to get caught up in the collateral of his life. You don’t actually want to kill him. Not the way you’ve wanted to kill some people. You take deep breath, and fix your eyes on his. “Well, the way I’m seeing it, you look like shit and tangling with me will get you killed.” “Oh?” The huge man raises a jovial eyebrow, grinning his giant, flashing grin. “’Zat so?” “Yeah.” You confirm, and you think you mostly believe it, too. “On the other hand, if you don’t bother with any of that, I can help you get out of here alive. Shit, I can even carry you to car or a… bus… or something, whatever.” >Persuade Check>DC14>+1 ability modifier>+1 situational modifier

>>30839582>On the up side, it's significantly less likely that we'll set our allies on fire, right?Fire finds a way.
>>30839561yup so its basically a melee until around level 3 or 4, but that is considering if you don't consider fire balls part of range if you do than you shoot a somewhat fast projectile that can be easily dodged the farther some one is away.
>>30839610On the bright side of that statement: geointuitive vision + fireballs = crazy wizard lizard time.
>>30839561That anon was confused. Draconic breath is in fact a ranged attack. It has the same range a pepper spray. In any case level 1 doesn't really deal damage so much as it distracts people.
>>30839651Crusty said it was like broiler gas, considerably harsher than pepper spray. It'd incapacitate minions and annoy real threats I imagine.
>>30839651>>30835855>>1.
>>30839610Hey, do you have the tier 2 power pastebin link handy? I remember nothing about fire balls and it's not in the extrapolative bin.
>>30839651If we had used it on Barracuda the heat would have caused pain and forced him to close his eyes. But, that's basically it. Then he would have shot us with his gun. We would have rolled to avoid the shots because his eyes were closed. But, since he's way faster than us it would have been a high DC to dodge the bullets
>>30839385>17>successHe holds your gaze for second, that one, penetrating eye of his slashing about through you, searching for anything it can use, any sign of weakness. Eventually, he screws his eyes up in mirth and stretches his grin wider, holstering his gun. “Well, dayumn, ‘lil nigga.” His laughter booms through the dark. “If I din’t know better, I’d be thinkin’ you were justa bound ready ta’ wet a muthafucka.”You breathe out a quiet sigh of relief, and glance over at the huge, misshapen sack hanging from the ceiling. You’ve been wondering what the hell that thing is. The tear in its outer skin retches outward, rolling over your vision, like the teetering feeling of being on the edge of a long, dark drop into the unknown. A weird, electric warmth flows over you, and you think you feel those scales (barbs) on your shoulder prickle up slightly, like hairs standing to attention under the touch of a cool breeze. “Come then, dawg, let’s get us outta this shithole.” So. That’s the story of how you, John James Green, ended up carrying a gangster and a small clone girl out of an abandoned factory in the dead of night. That is, after you emerged from a giant glowing flesh cocoon full of mystery fluid. Your life is weird. --------------------------------------------------------------------->Congratulations! JJ is back! >Congratulations! You gained an X-Point!>Congratulations! You successfully diplomanced Barracuda!>Congratulations! >>30839693>>30839696I didn't say it was pepper spray I said it had the same range as pepper spray. I am well aware of what crusty said at the beginning of the thread.
>>30839763Wingsand thanks for running Crusty
>>30839763I say we retcon the fire breath and spend both X-points on Agility level 2.
>>30839763plant body 1 fucking tired of hunger stat
>>30839651>has the same range as pepper sprayWe, yes and no. Pepperspray is a liquid, so the concentration of capsaicin or whatever that look in it stays fairly consistent over the distance it's sprayed. Dragon Breath is a gas based weapon, so it's more susceptible to air currents /and/ starts dispersing immediately after leaving JJ's mouth. So technically our Breath has a larger detectable range, but it's ineffective after a few feet since its in such low concentration.Knowing is half the Battle!
>>30839763Thanks for running crusty.Always a pleasure to read, you are a good writter. Also mutant vote: Either wings or photosynthesis.>>30839795No retconning.
>>30839763Good thread, Crust. Certain elements of the playerbase notwithstanding.>>Congratulations! Your best friend since [bzzzzzzzz–], Joseph Typhon, is always watching over you!...dude just doesn't know how to take a hint.Bank the point

>>30839763Bank for Agility
>>30839795If it's an option yes.Otherwise genetic mimicry
A quick aside on the subject of Draconic Breath.A revote, while technically not a retcon seeing as you haven't used the power yet, is very, very, very unlikely. I can see that some people didn't quite realize how hard the ability would be to use. I assumed that I'd illustrated how seriously difficult fire is for JJ by now, but if I haven't, that's my failing and I apologize. All that aside, I can't really tell just how many people are disappointed now, and how many people didn't vote for it in the first place. I'm sure there's a few of the former, but I can't rightly know, the boards functioning as they do. So a revote... would have to have a truly massive upsurge of support. That said, while I'm leery of revotes, I am also leery of keeping a power that you'll never use. I'll be watching closely in future, and if it becomes clear that everyone's way too afraid of/disappointed in Draconic Breath (i.e. if it sees like no use), I'll likely have it atrophy away.
>>30839829The last vote was based on insufficient information. We didn't know how the rolls were going to work or that the DC was 18.
>>30839894Just so you know I am completely fine with JJ not having a ranged ability, so just leave it and we'll vote down its use whenever it comes up.
>>30839894>but if I haven't, that's my failing and I apologize.No, it's ours.
>>30839894I honestly can't think of any reason we would ever use it. Phobia aside it is a deadly attack and JJ is against killing.
>>30839894not your fault, it was the people who didn't want to listen to reason.
>>30839905We were well informed.
>>30839905>We didn't know how the rolls were going to work or that the DC was 18.He's afraid of fire. What did you think would happen?
>>30839894Never ever veto something we will just deal with itonce we get rid of our fear we will try to use it in every conceivable situation
>>30839894yeah, still fine with fire breath.quick question, would enough crit fails take JJ down to negative fire checks or would it not go past zero?
>>30839781>>30839822Thanks, guys. Always a pleasure to run for you chaps. Even when 4chan pukes up like yesterday.
>>30839894You did fine. Some people are just very sore losers.Having said that, i hope you don't atrophy it if enough people keep up with voting to use it in appropriate situations.
>>30839960Not now the he Dragon he isn't! Now's our chance to reshape his character to be less emo and more badass!
There arguments.>It will help with the phobiaWe can get a book of matches and do the same thing>We need a ranged attackIt is a fatal attack and JJ is against killing>dragons are coolThis is the only one I can't counter. Dragons are in fact cool
>>30839978i'm guessing yes since the dc and dice have gone over 20.
>>30840011>>30840010want to hear it from Crusty, not random anon with an agenda
>>30839894As it is, I don't think it's worth using. DC18 with the abysmal range it has AND the fact that you can't use it to create a smokescreen makes it a rather terrible decision to use in combat.
>>30839978You've always been capable of descending into the negatives. Phobias can get worse.
>>30840035>>30840028there you go.
>>30840010>dragons are coolTrue, but then we should have picked the Dermal Armor defense option so we couldn't hurt ourself with the breath weapon.
>>30840031The DC is only while the phobia lasts, after that it should be fine.Note to all: we can use less powerful versions of our powers that we have leveled, so we can also control the heat of our flames if we so choose. It does not have to be a deadly attack every single time.
>>30839985Thanks for running. Even if we bitch a lot it's only because we like the quest and care what happens.p.s. You do realize that in the next thread the "dragon fuck ya" players are going to vote to use fire breath on every vote now.
>>30840035AH HA HA HA HA HA HA
Rolled 11There's a chance for failure in every roll.we can fail a roll with a 8 DC and +5 bonus.
>>30840035Also, in addition to >>30840098 let me just say thank you for running and for keeping the phobia and firepower mechanics consistent with what we already knew. I'm not much a fan of training wheels or QM hand holding at this stage of the game and am impressed by how well your handling this. Great session today and I look forward to the next installment of Homeless Mutant/Dragon Quest. Take care.
>>30840075Yea, but the amount it can backfire is just RIDICULOUS. I mean it's not like we have a way to put out a fire if we accidently set one we didn't want, nor do we actually have ways of surviving it. This paired up with the fact that we need to pass 2x DC18 in order to use it in combat... it's kind of ridiculous. While I'm not for retcon, I do think it needs some sort of buff... or an ability to suck the fires back in, because otherwise I'm just too damn worried about the collateral damage we cause from the first time we roll 1 with the fire.
>>30840093you know last thread they're 1-2 anons says they're going to push for it every chance so voting it down becomes a habit because fire breath won?when somebody is playing out of spite, they should probably stop playing. but this is 4chan, so this will go on and on and on....real sad to see this playerbase become toxic.
>>30840035After we crit fail the next 7 phobia rolls in a row are you going to take pitty on us?
>>30840028I guess I'll try to address those statements, then.>>308400101. I guess so. A breath attack costs no dosh, of course.2. Well... that's up to you guys, isn't it? I try to veto stuff that veers too wildly aside of the character you all have established, but in the end whether JJ is willing to ice a fool is up to you.3. Yeah dragons are cool.>>308400114. Yeah that can happen. I'm not gonna hide it - Draconic Breath is the hardmode option. It was intended as such. I'm considering that it may have been a mistake on my part to include it, in hindsight, what with people not realizing just how difficult it'd be, but that's what it was intended as and I can roll with it if you guys can.
>>30840180Oh god pls Crusty don't let people turn JJ into full murderhobo, burning people alive left and right. I'd say that's pretty far off character.
>>30840180Are we voting for powers this thread or no?
>>30840157remember when we barbecued Laura's throat with the taser hands cuz we failed DC 15 iirc?>>30840180stick with it Crusty. No retcons.and can we vote over the X point?
>>30840075Umm hmm. The sentinels are going to love us using such a traceable power, and the politicians are going to love us setting buildings on fire and justifipying the expansion of the sentinel mandate. It's the power that just keeps on giving!
>>30840165When we first voted Draconic breath seemed like it had a lot of support. But in this thread as well as the last one it only seemed like it was one or two that were vehemently supporting it.
>>30840157+ the fact that it has the least power over of all the ranged attacks and least flexibility, it honestly needs SOMETHING to make it viable. Yea, dragons are cool and whatnot, but without the other stuff that comes with being a dragon, trying to use flame breath is just a high risk, low reward ability.
>>30840214The dragon rises.
>>30840180I say revote/atrophy.
>>30840249crusty siad it was hard.
>>30840157>Buff>The uber power?Seriously? It needs to be nerfed if anything.
>>30840228I was serious when I said >>30839795But bank / genetic mimicry are my back ups.
>>30840180Crusty, everything is hard for JJ. Giving him easy access to fire can only end badly, but I hope we can make some decent RP out of it, and not waste the X-point.
>>30840157Everything has a chance of backfiring. Our wall climbing exploits are proof of that. The DC18 is only in combat, outside of combat we can work to reduce the DC and eventually eliminate it. This is not going to be fast, but its gonna take a hell of allot longer if people don't get on with it. Right now we don't produce a flame strong enough to be a great danger, its more like scalding gasses. Even level 2 will be limited damage potential. We can work on our phobia while lower level in the power before we sink into level 3 and higher.
>>30840249I take it by now you've read Crusty's "hard mode" comment? So, what are you're thoughts now?
Remember when HMQ wasn't toxic?
>>30840304How long does genetic mimicry level one last? My plan has always been to walk around town looking human all day. With Laura providing the raw materials to maintain the change.
>>30840348your assumption seems pretty OP for a level 1 power imo
>>30840323Not really comparable because we've been able to overcome the wall climbing DC by spending an extra 2 xp since we first bought the power. Daconic Breath will have a DC until we clear our trauma of fire, and that's a big if.
>>30840323wall climbing has a DC of 12 and look how many times we've fucked it up. 18 is a whole nother ball game.
>>30840240True, but frankly did you expect to get through this quest without having to eventually take down a sentinel? We live (or will when we get back) in the middle of mutant central in new york, aka the scar. Its only a matter of time till some shit head comes knocking to kick the mutants out.
>>30840332>Back before the phasing debateThread 4? 3?
>>30840332It's not toxic.Last thread was, but now it's fine.
No karma for breaking bread with Cuda?
>>30840157>>30840249I'm probably extending its initial range a bit, but beyond that, it's not getting buffed. It has the highest spread/power ratio out of all the ranged attacks It is ridiculously tough to use for you, but it can also incinerate large numbers of people instantly once you reach the higher levels.Aside from the phobia thing, Draconic Breath's only real bigass weakness is that it doesn't deal well with invulnerable types like Molly Hayes, as it has no knockback and applies all damage through an object's surface area. I guess you could consider its sheer lethality a weakness, too, but I don't take into account JJ's personality when crafting these abilities, just the way he's mutated so far.
>>30840398Dudes a murdering asshole. Killing him despite the personal risk was the gain karma option.
>>30840398why would we get karma for befriending a gansta.
>>30840395phase bros kept it in till the end of thread, didn't share their spaghetti all of the thread>>30840397constant bitching and begging for retcons throughout the thread is not fine imo.
>>30840420>increase rangePlease don't. I want to actually be able to use this thing in a fight with friendlies around.
>>30840393>>30840374Crusty does award an easier DC for doing things smartly. We go about this the right way, we can increase our chances. Not everything we fight is going to be human, if we ever have to fight sentinels, being able to blast melt through them will be very useful.
>>30840433It's not bitching and begging.
>>30840328My thoughts are that I still don't see any reason to use the higher levels of that ability in combat considering it's risks in almost any situation. Too high risk, too low reward.
>>30840451That doesn't apply to phobias.
>>30840451sonic scream could damage them more, the laser eyes are more accurate and could do more damage, and the force eyes could hurt them faster.
>>30840456>ApplicationsWe need to take out a Facility safe house with minimal casualties to our side. We set up a shooting galleries to cover the exits then set the fucking building on fire.See? Overkill can be useful.
>>30840421putting aside past hostilities and not killing him while he's down.cool with no point if Crusty says no though.>>30840453instead of "how can we make this work" or figuring out good ways to utilize it (not a single one anon pondering potential uses, just "zomg murderhobo!")just "too hard" "iz stupid" "dargon fuck yea people ruined everything" "I hope we never use it" "revote plz crusty!"bitching and begging. pure and simple
>>30840451>being able to blast melt through them will be very useful.Soinc is armor piercing and would be just as useful against sentinelsLevel 3: JJ may now modulate the frequency of his scream, allowing it to displace objects by vibrating them at the right frequency. This makes the power ideal for dismantling machinery, and can cause deep tissue damage to humans.
>>30840484And dragon breath is the high damage AOE ability. We know, we picked it to kill groups of goons as quickly as possible.
>>30840521no one voted for that reason last thread.
>>30840515phase bros had the decency to STFU and move on when their pick got locked out
>>30840514You could stop whining and put up your theories for how to make this work.
lvl 3 was supposed to melt metal, right? Could the breath technically, while paired up with wings, melt a building at higher levels on top of somebody?
>>30840521eyes would had been better.
>>30840533I did, I assume others didn't want to piss of the "NO! We martyr not muderhobo!" crowd.
So, when is Crusty gonna archive this thread?
>>30840501Fly up to a chimney and aim down. The sheer temperature would burn the oxygen in the building, cooking those in the epicenter and suffocating the rest.
>>30840546use the fire breath to burn Creeper's safehouses/drug supply areas.light something on fire and create a diversion.create torches.
>>30840550thats already a mutation that all the range powers had, other than force.
>>30840420Do we have to roll whenever we want to access the lower level version of the breath?
>>30840594I think he'll be cool with lv1 until something ignitesthen the will checks come into play
>>30840536They lost like what? Four or five votes? They knew they had it coming and made peace with it. I'm all for murderbreath, but I understand how annoyed they are at how that played out. Give 'me another two or three threads to settle down and we should be good.
>>30840609No, I meant like if we have lvl 4 breath and we want to use the non-lethal version of the breath, do we need to roll in order to use the nonlethal version?
>>30840581>ChimneyYou are underestimating how much the Facility spends on safe houses and research stations.
>>30840643Ah.I don't think so? we don't have to roll to not break things with strength 2
>>30840643Probably not. Versatility is supposed to be its weak suit after all.
>>30840550>lvl 3 was supposed to melt metal, right? Level 3 Draconic Breath can very quickly cause third degree burns. It will take a while to melt metal. Here's how the ranged powers break down:OHB: Pure, precise anti-armour. OFB: Control and knockback, balance between penetrating power and AoE.DB: Pure antipersonnel. High blast, high AoE, but will struggle with serious armour until the highest levels.SC: "They bigger they are, the harder they fall". Lowest base damage, but best for taking out big, fortified stuff.
>>30840594Crusty already said that we won't need to roll until JJ realizes it can start fires. Then we will need to roll every time even when were blowing hot air.Basically JJ will be thinking "last time I did this it started a fire. Will it start a fire this time?" That's why we'll need to roll.
>>30840664Hey Crusty are we going to get some more utility extrapolitives for Draconic breath? Right now it's only really suited for killing people.
>>30840664Did the X-point go to bank or...?
>>30840664Is sonic scream the only ranged power that can hurt Kimura?
>>30840707he siad there won't be much extra stuff from it.
>>30840707Already answered here >>30835855.
>>30840664Since we are carrying a giant black guy and Laura while supposedly still naked, did either of them notice our burn scars? Also point vote when?
>>30840707He answered this in his first post. Fire breath was designed for the sole purpose of killing people. Non lethal extrapolatives are not an option.>>30835855>It’s not a versatile mutation – what it offers in power it loses in utility. Them’s just the shakes.
>>30840712lvl 5 heat vision would cut her in half with sub-atomic vision. Force blasts could just blast her to space if you got them at high enough lvl.
>>30840712Pretty much.Don't worry too much, we just need to find someone else to kill her for us. Probably this universes Hellion isn't to much of a pussy to get the job done.
>>30840781There's also Noriko and Kevin, though I doubt Kevin would want to kill folks. We could also dunk some points in electrostatic touch, but who am I kidding, we'll never do that.
>>30840578Shit, man, thanks for reminding me. Thread archived.>>30840707I have one other idea, but it'd just be a OFB Extrap under another name, and I want to keep their strengths somewhat distinct. >>30840712Hmm. It's certainly the only one that can do it immediately. OFB can throw her around like ragdoll, keep her away. OHB can, if you get the right Extrapolatives, gradually saw through her atomic structure.
>>30840757>>30840748>>30840720Holy shit how'd I miss that long ass post, thanks anons. Sucks though. Even less useful now.

>>30840763It will take forever them to get the power to level 5. Look at all the level 1 powers we still have. I would vote sonic scream because it can damage her hearing at level 1 and cause tissue damage at level 2.
>>30840831its gonna take for ever if we do that, we would need to find a way to hold her down.
>>30840831I'm assuming her invulnerable skin won't even transfer the heat to get to her insides anon. Draconic breath just isn't good for Kimura I'm afraid, if we go full murderhobo though it's pretty suitable.
>sole purpose of killing peopleI wouldn't mind this, but the fact that it's so indiscriminate and is completely useless against the one bitch we WANT to kill.
>>30840871Dragons are cool.
>>30840857If we're already holding her down we could just suffocate her.
>>30840831Yeah, I'm considering this. She's highly heat tolerant, though, so you'd have to have her pinned down so you could roast her over some time.By the way, guys, do you want to vote to spend the X-Point or what? I'm mostly seeing people wanting to bank, but I'll throw up a vote if enough peeps want one.
>>30840857We can just grapple her and puke fire on her face

He retains three of his digits, and though their dexterity is minimal, they keep any levels in Claws & Fangs active. He requires either a strong updraft or some height when taking off.Level 2: At this level, JJ becomes capable of achieving flight without the need for a high start. His flight speed and aerial agility improves.

>>30841288...I think it's a bit early for that. Listen, I'm very very very unlikely to just give you guys a revote. If I had irrefutable evidence that the majority is disappointed by DB and it'll never get used, there would be one, as you haven't actually used it yet so it wouldn't be retcon. >>30841691Well, as long as we don't upgrade it, JJ can function as a radiator until he figures out that he can ignite stuff with it, after which you need those DC18 in order to get him to use it again.

>>30841774Murder hobo is it's only aplication. And some people want it that was see >>30841776
>>30841774We use it to take out groups of enemies or prevent some speedy asshole from dodging our attacks. Simple. We got this power to kill people. It's freaking Fire Breath for crying out loud! Why are you trying to make it nonlethal all of the sudden?
>>30841853Because hes one of those faggots that for some reason never ever EVER kill someone or something in a quest
>>30841823Well, there's still the DC18 that you need to pass in order to pull it off. Not to mention you could just bypass that entire thing by using claws and superstrenght.
>>30841853Because not everyone want the quest to be some D&D game where we go around murdering people.

>>30841833So we don't stand around at the scene of the crime, watching building burn. We have fucking invisibility. We're fine.
>>30841888And enough of us do at this juncture that that's a moot point. Seriously, we're entering the mid game, it's time to start dirtying JJ's hands with the blood (well, ash) of his enemies.

>>308418531. There is like 1 person right now that we want dead and she's immune to DB. Creeper and Typhon's fates are still on the table.
>>30841896That's cool but some matches basically accomplish the same thing without a god-high DC.

>>30841964It all started on thread 50. I'm convinced that a group of new people joined and didn't like the way we had all been playing so they've been on a crusade to "fix" the quest. 50 threads of characterization be damned.

>>30841986>>30841974I must one again pose the question as to why
>>30842046Wait, Jack's an inhalant?Bugger. All this time, I thought it was injected.
>>30841947But you'll get better results by bashing Kimura's head in with a lead pipe than trying to burn her alive. Same thing applies to pretty much every other foe we have, although with them you can also throw stuff at them and they'll fall apart.
>>30842094Because shit like defeating some super evil motherfucker and not killing him is retarded
>>30842064People keep bring up the phase bro to defend the murder hobos. They are not the same. The phase bros were voting on powers. The murder hobos are trying to systematically reverse 50 threads of characterization. All because they don't think the people that have been here for 50 threads were doing it right.
>>30842064>the Feds get rid of weed by burning itTrue, but weed doesn't cause mutants to explode or hallucinate while massively boosting their powers, and they do it in very remote, highly controlled area. We're talking about torching a warehouse full of who knows what in the middle of the city. It's not really comparable.
>>30842065The problem is that trying to burn something requires a DC18 willpower roll. Letting somebody else throw a molotov will work just as well and we don't have to roll for willpower.
>>30842112>defeating some super evil motherfuckerKimura, Creeper, Cuda are the only people who might fit that and in order are, immune, hiding, and not currently on our stop at all cost list
>>30842166no, becuase ignoring a problem will make it go away.
>>30842146Except we don't have molotovs on hand, same reason claws beat knives. They can't be taken from us, or lost. And again, we practice with it in a controlled environment until we don't have to roll an DC18.
>>30842181Then leave you big baby if it bothers you this much
>>30842117Thing is anon, I'm worried they might actually outnumber us. From what Crusty said here >>30840180it sounds like he'll support the votes unless we're burning down orphanages or something
>>30842077If we ever need to perform wide scale destruction, we don't need to perform arson. They can wreck the place without having to fear that the destruction will spread uncontrollably to neighbouring buildings.
>>30842094Because some evils inherent and must be removed from the world, and because soon we're going to be faced with choices like fighting sloppy (say punching a baseline human with full super strength) to rush to our allies aid, or making sure we don't kill anyone and potentially letting one of the gang die. As our failure to wait for Chat showed when we went in after Ulrich, JJ cares more about his friends than playing smart. Eventually we'll also need to start eliminating reoccurring villains - The Creeper, Kimura, JT (pretty sure he's psychotic, so not salvageable) - and when that time comes I don't want to roll to see if JJ hesitates. I don't await our friends to die as a result of JJ's weakness.
>>30842188Don't we have Hellions to perform any controlled demolition we need on our enemies?
>>30842117I've been here since thread 1. stealth build shouldn't be gung ho but we've started to make some enemies and diplomacy is not a real option any more.Creeper has gone off the deep end and We had to fight at the docks, Kimura is Kimura, and Typhon is a delusion mengele wannabe with a god complex and super powers. He dealt with Laura easily.Conflict is an inevitability. I don't want to kill every idiot that looks at us crossways but when push comes to shove, I want JJ to be ready.>>30842123Jack is a pillhttp://archive.foolz.us/tg/search/text/pill/username/Crusty%20Jones/>You know the score with this stuff – people generally call it Jack. It’s a feel-good pill that just so happens to grant mutants stints of unusual control over their abilities. Problem is, every so often, you lose control completely. It’s been around for a while, but you’ve never heard of a meltdown this public. Really not good news. >>30842146if fire is involved in away, JJ has to make a will check.
>>30842188> we practice with it in a controlled environment until we don't have to roll an DC18I agree 100% we should practice with matches in a controlled environment
>>30842100Go back to when we found Kevin and Nori, pretty sure it was described and dried, smokable leaves of some sort.
>>30842188That won't be any time soon anon, when we crit-fail we take a step backwards. Actually, correct me if I'm wrong, we lose a phobia point if we critfail and gain one through multiple successes, if we don't automatically gain one through a crit success then the odds are actively against us. Otherwise they're slightly in our favor; slightly.
>>30842262>when we crit-fail>whenyou a seer or something? and we could always accrue karma points JIC
>>30842231I agree, trying to deal with Fire Breath is just useless showboating considering the arsenal we have. We have much more efficient ways of achieving the goals that the fire breath could solve without having to fear the possible negative consequences it could bring on a failed roll.
>>30842235First of all, the Hellions are not linked to us by anything. We made one agreement regarding Creeper with them. They're not just going to come to our beck and call and be best friends.Secondly, we can do it ourselves if the need arises, or do it at the same time, doubly increasing destructive potential.>>30842262We won't use it unless it's in a good situation. If we happen to critfail, oh well. Use a karma if you care that much.We have statistics on our side.>>30842249Do you really think lighting a match is going to count as a success against the phobia?Because we've gone through things x3000 times more intense than that and not gotten a success.
>>30842286If we actually use the breath then yes we are bound to critfail sooner or later and using the karma is just bad if its in practice, that shit is supposed to save our asses not help a struggling power be useful in the future. Karma is a bitch to get.
>>30842286Hey, we need those karma points for actual fights. Don't go wasting them on practice time.
>>30842262crit successes do not automatically give us a phobia point. If we keep DB the the first time we crit fail using it will cause a shit storm the likes of which you have never seen.
>>30842246>If fire is involved in away, JJ has to make a will check. Why should JJ make a willpower check when somebody else throws a molotov unless he is trying to go towards the fire?

>>30842370Those were checks for us pissing ourself or running away, not got getting shit done. I'd rather fail after the molotov's been thrown then before.
>>30842310>>30842313>>30842315We can use karma on crit fails but what about regular fairs. What if we stupidly decide to use it while people are shooting at us. If we fail the roll we will literally be standing there is shock. If kimura is there she'll just walk through the fire and snap our neck.
>>30842310Yes... and since it was suggested previously that fire breath should be used to perform arsony on Creeper's property, that becomes a moot point when Hellions come in play. That's literally their only purpose. Also, we can always ask a favour from them in exchange for another favour. Invisibility is quite valuable trait.
>>30842376He's saying there's a low chance of rolling a 1, not that there's any real chance of succeeding.
>>30842418That's true but we'll have to roll a lot in order to get the successes stacked to lower the DC. Bound to happen.
>>30842404>hit man JJ is a goAbout fucking time!
>>30842376This is HMQ, the statistics are always against us.
>>30842432Again, he isn't saying anything about the success rate, but that the chances of critfailing are low.
>>30842433Pretty sure Hellions wouldn't ask JJ to kill anyone, more likely they'd ask him to track somebody or spy on somebody.
regression only occurs on a critfail a 1 in 20 chance.progress occurs if 18,19, or 20(which decreases with each successful check) . a 3 in 20 chanceif 2-17 occurs, nothing happens, we wuss out and don't get over it. we would flinch in combat, which is why we should attempt the checks in a safe controlled environment.>>30842404and what if their price is too steep?
>>30842458We'll find out when they call in the debt.
>>30842458I believe this because the Hellions are capable of wrecking just about anyone they can catch, so if they wanted somebody dead, they'd probably just do it themselves.
>>30842479>nothing happens, we wuss out and don't get over itnope crusty confirmed that the dc can go past 20 so multiple failed attempts can be used to raise the dc.

>>30842117Hey, nobody's trying to defend the murderhobos. But there are applications for abilities of high lethality and destruction. To clarify. I do not want to kill with any regularity.JJ is not a character that will ever be able to kill casually. To deny that would be to deny more than 50 threads of characterisation. But there are certain characters that JJ has good reason to want dead.Kimura, Creeper, Typhon, to name the more egregious offenders.JJ has lost everything he's had, and come close to losing it all again, because of these people, and people like them. His whole world has burned down around his ears. It's very much in character for him to want to do the same in return, whether consciously or not.So does it not make sense that he would begin to develop powers of a horrifying, destructive and lethal nature? And what, to JJ, more clearly fits in his subconcious mind as meeting those criteria?Yes, the DC is daunting. Maybe even crippling. But here's the thing. That doesn't matter. It's a game mechanic. Allowing that to have any impact on the decision making process is metagaming.I admit, I'm not all that happy with this result. It's not what I voted for, and we DO have reason to suspect samefagging because of, yes, fucking QTG.But it makes sense. Too much sense. It makes more sense than developing any of the other powers, regardless of how much some amongst us would wish otherwise.I just can't see a way to justify a not-quite-a-retcon.>>30842376Removing a phobia success is only on critfail - score 1Earning a phobia success is on 18, 19, 20.Three times more likely to advance than fall back. Assuming a success, future rolls are four times as likely. Then five. After that, the phobia is overcome.Conversely, even assuming a critfail at the start, while our chances are reduced, it's still 2-to-1 in our favour.Ergo, statistics are on our side.

>>30842632Unless we double botch and put the DC at 20, but that's not going to happen.
>>30842632JJ doesn't need DB to kill people. He can literally tear people in half with his bare hands. And Kimura is completely immune to DB. It's a power without a purpose.
>>30842632One sucess won't lower the DC though, only multiple will, it seems we only need one failure to set us back. It depends on how many successes we need really. If it's more than 3 then we have a long road ahead. Maybe an impassable one.
Rolled 18, 2, 8 = 28>>30842671Exactly! 1s never happen on real rolls.
>>30842666Yes three days of lighting camp fires with matches we already have. Again we don't need DB to do this. You're argument has no legs to stand on.
>>30842645Arson means collateral damage and that means we get into trouble that we could have avoided, because the hellions don't destroy the entire block whenever they fight.
>>30842458I don't want JJ to be a hitnan; the best thing about JJ is that regardless if he's homeless he's a damn hero. IF we go murderhobo, we should just .go back and suck on Creeper's knob. I pray to god he doesn't because fuck human traffikers and fuck dudes who want us to kill for money
>>30842701>3. This will go up and down as JJ succeeds/fails to face his fear, and vanish completely once he’s completed the fifth trial.>>30842719another 18!>>30842734having somebody else use matches isn't going to get JJ over the fear>>30842734the Scar is an abandoned wasteland. Nobody cares about it. Its why we live there
>>30842749Yeah, not really seeing a correlation between being willing to take actions Frank Castle would approve of and sucking the Creeper's knob. I get you want to save everyone and kill no one, but let's not be too absurd in our discussion.
>>30842778You know, a faster way to deal with the fire phobia is just to get JJ to reallize he can eventually heal away any burns he receives. So just have him stick his hand into the camp fire a few times and we should be good.
>>30842778last part meant for>>30842744to reiterate the scar is abandoned buildings and rubble. the perfect place to train and refine DB
>>30842858maybe but I can see a lot of anons get pissy over it.
>>30842884I don't see why. There's no "collateral damage" to whine over with that one.
>>30842801Arson is a pretty damn evil thing to do, more so when fire is JJ's greatest fear, especially when it's avoidable and it's goals can be achieved with less collateral damage.
>>30842901Still not seeing way it would be comparable to becoming Creeper's bitch. This dragon is no one's henchman.
>>30842866But what would we use it on? Arson seems pretty quick way to become a wanted person
>>30842901people have been advocating burning drug dens full of poison that people OD on, not orphanages
>>30841555It was also the thread before the vote, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that you can use a cellphone and a computer at the same time, there was also no indication on what he was voting for.
>>30842927how do you prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings?
>>30842642Sorry, but you got your maths wrong. 5% chance of critfail, 15% chance of success on DC 18.>>30842697He doesn't need it, no. And it won't necessarily make killing them easier, either. But that's the logical position, and JJ's attitude to fire is intrinsically not logical.Fire is to JJ, something terrifying, something deadly. It's a symbol of utter destruction. More so than almost anything else. That's my point. His phobia of fire is in itself a reason for why this power would develop.Whether the power actually serves as a purposeful weapon is irrelevant to this particular argument.>>30842701That is a good point, assuming it was in reference to the statistical portion of the post. But we need WoG to confirm either way.If I'm remembering correctly, two successes in a row are required to lower DC, but that might just be my interperetation. Perhaps ask Crusty for clarification next thread?
>>30842925left over furnitureruined signsjunked carsthose buildings would be bulldozed and be vacant lots if NYC gave a shit about them.we didn't pick the scar for its real estate value.
>>30841143Just came back home, but I'd have voted for wings. Thanks m8
>>30842957Do the math over three rolls. It's actually 14.2something for a one and 38.idontremember for 18+.
>>30842951its winter. snow is everywhere and the place isn't made of oily rags>>30842987it and subdermal armor where the only locks anon.
>>30842968So let the people burn because they're too poor to live anywhere else?
>>30843007You clearly know nothing about urban fires. The point you should be making is that the city disconnected any gas lines to the scar a long time ago and most of the place is burn out anyway,
>>30843007Doesn't matter if there is snow or not, the heat from a burning building will ignite the buildings next to it unless it's stopped.
>>30843012Embrace the murderhobo anon, it is the future. just kidding, I hope.
People keep trying to make up reasons why DB is useful after the fact. The best way to get over his fear is to start a camp fire in the scar then see how close he can get to it. Do this a couple of times and we might just get over the fear. But, even after we get over the fear murder hoboing is the only thing it good for. One of our most dangerous enemies is completely immune to it.Yes creeper, typhon, and Kimura need to die but we don't need DB to kill them. We can literally tear people in half. It's not that big of deal if we keep it but stop pretending it isn't a shit power.
>>3084281 Okay, stop puting words in my mouth. Second, the correlation I was making is that if we just start killing people for money, we'd be doing the exact same thing for Creeper hence why bothet being antagonistic? I get killing Kimura or Typhoon or Creeper, but Hitman JJ does not make sense from a narrative perspective
>>30843012It's them or our ability to effectively use draconian breath.
>>30843012Gaby was the only other person we've bumped into there in 50+ plus threads.and we can scope out buildings in case there are fellow squatters or just pick a building that's too wrecked to be habitable, like if a wall or a roof is missing.>>30843053forgot about the gas lines anon, good point>>30843054lv1 ain't gonna torch a block anon. gonna be a shitstorm to get people to train it let alone vote to power it up to really dangerous levels
>>30843056I'm not a "thou shalt not kill" person, but pointless arson to test a new power is just retarded. I mean Hellions can take out those dens easy and they've a reason to as well.
>>30843117A huge amount of those mutants we rescued are living in the scar now anon, it's a lot busier than it used to be.
>>30843117After the cargo ship indecent a shit ton of mutant refugees moved into the scar. So, yes there are going to be a fuck ton of squatters.
>>30843080Killing other gangsters really isn't as bad as human trafficking, murder, running a vast criminal enterprise, murder, mindraping people, murder...I think you get where I'm going with this. Look, if you want to argue moral absolutes that's fine, but I'm not really going to be able to relate since I tend to see the world in color rather than black or white.
>>30843117The plan is to get DB to 2 as quickly as possible.
>>30843072I honestly don't know why they have such a hard on for DB. It's not a very useful power.
Gonna go sleep. You've yet to give me any reason to perform arson. Even if the building is on abandoned area, the hellions want to take over their turf, not torch it. So either way it's best to let them deal with it.
>>30843176Because its cool!
>>30843152>>30843146they can't be in every single damn building/area. there has to be at least a few decent spots with nobody around to practice.
>>30843186That's fine, ou don't have to be on board for us to do it.
>>30843200Who says we cant just take a few piles of wood to the subway were hanging out in?
>>30843186there's no money in the fucking scar. They want Creeper's turf, not an abandoned rubble mutant slumville.>>30843225apparently if we botch, we'll do our best imitation of the surface of the sun
>>30843200If we're practicing to get rid of the phobia we just need some of those old oil drums that you see hobos standing around in the movies. Fill them up with some flammables scavenged from the scar. The we just light the fire and see how long we can stare at the fire.
>>30843225No one, though I'm not sure why we have to actually set anything on fire to begin with. Right now just being the cause of fire, whether anything catches or not, is enough of a challenge.
I still say we try to ask Laura for help, both for actual help and relationship development.
>>30843252I want to do that in the scar in an empty location.tired of getting assumed we auto botch and burn down the scar
>>30843264this could work
>>30843252Those oil drums haven't been in NYC since the 40's. Why do you think so many hobos freeze to death every winter in that city?
>>30843264not that I'm against asking for help, but how would she help exactly?
>>30843252no risk of collateral damage and little chance of pissing anyone off. But I think the people your responding to are the new murder hobos that came around. So there's no reasoning with them.
>>30843292Just to support and possible suggestions. And maybe hugs when we break down.
>>30843264Plan set Laura on fire is a go!
>>30843159Killing gangsters is better how? One of our exes is technically a drug pusher/gangsta, the first two running with Creeper ran for him before they took too much; I'm not debating moral absolutes, I'm arguing what makes sense in character. I don't see JJ being comfortable killing gangsters because he knows some, is or has been good friends with a few. JJ is not Frankk Castle, quit pushing your murder boner
>>30843292She could somewhat force us to get rid of our fear of fire
>>30843317eh, she can regenerate.
>>30843320So, you're not going to fell any responsibility for the civilians Baracuda might murder after tonight? I think we did the right thing by saving him, quid pro quo is good for our rep, but you really aren't going to take any responsibility for the negative consequences of that act? Interesting.
Laura was conditioned to be immune to fear by the best. Asking for her help is probably a good idea.
>>30843336she did get over JJ barbecuing her throat..probably won't even need the grok roll if we give a heads up on the potential danger/spaghetti this time....>>30843326like what? sticking our hand in the fire? If Crusty says it will work, then I'm all for it.
basically, I want JJ's DB tests to be making pic
>>30843382Were immune to our own fire right?Get use to create a bonfire with our dragon breath and then laura pushes us inWe realise fire anti nothin but a crack bitch and we get on with our life
>>30843292She could use a road flare on us.
>>30843317If we ask Laura to help with the fire thing she'll probably start a small fire and talk us through it as we see how close we can get. We wouldn't be using DB so there would be no danger of starting her on fire.
>>30843413>We're immune to our own fire right? No. We're resistant, but by no means immune.
>>30843446eh we can regenerate
>>30843403I agree this is what we should do to get over the phobia. But it doesn't need to be a DB test, we could make that pic happen right now with no super powers involved.
>>30843458Yep. Now that Laura's freelancing for Felicia we don't have to worry about keeping up appearances for work.
alright so DB practice 1.) ask Laura for help/advice2.) practice making hobo fireshas Crusty said matches would count towards the phobia check? imo, I don't think they would, but best wait for clarification I suppose
>>30843373No, that's not I"m saying. We spared 'Cuda's life out of pragmatism and because we had more important shit to do then trying to take him down. I absolutely expect us to kill Cuda when we're stronger and Creeper throwd him at us
>>30843621Apologies for the poor grammat, typing on a smert phone D:
>>30843599Where do you plan to get an oil drum?
>>30843621IDK if Cuda is down for throwing in with Creeper, considering his introduction to Typhon ( that was at the address Victoria gaves IIRC?)
>>30843655garbage can will do in a pinch if an oil drum doesn't turn up in the Scar
>>30843599Yes crusty did say that lighting matches would basically be the same as using DB. Meaning multiple successes would add up to a phobia check.
>>30843689Would you be willing to settle for a dumpster? I'm pretty sure there's an ordinance against the use of garbage cans in our section of the city to prevent basically what you're trying to do, start fires in them.
>>30843724I'm fine with Dumpster.any decent sized waste receptacle will do. Beggars can not be choosers.
>>30843714Clearly the fastest way to beat the phobia is to start smoking cigarettes, the nicotine should calm our nerves and positively reinforce the use and safety of fire at least on a small scale. On the downside, cigarettes are expensive and the smell will easily give away our position when cloaked.
>>30843714and the critfail -1 to successive checks comes with it too?
>>30843661Lets hope not. Also, fuck Creepet
>>30843778I still imagine JJ taking a drag every now and then too anon but cigs are expensive and I'm pretty sure most anons would be against stealing (the sweet sweet karma point potential is too irresistible)
>>30843829Hmm, so you could theoretically jump between multiple wifi hotspots. Interesting.
>>30843857Yeah, I really hope Crusty finds a better way to offer Karma points. Resisting the restating to steal food or cigarettes when we can afford to pay for them just doesn't seem like sufficient personal sacrifice to warrant one.
was JJ naked this entire thread?
>>30843872I could, but I'm stuck in my room and thete's only the one I could find. You'd think being in the heart of Seattle there'd be more unsecure wifi hotspots :(
>>30843964>MUTANT HERO CONFIRMED NUDIST!>Mutan Hero seen with known criminal "Barracuda" and a teen prostitute
>>30843991>MUTANT HERO LIKELY COERCED INTO ACTS OF DEPRAVITY>BARRACUDA CHARGED WITH STATUTORY RAPE>NAKED HERO 'WELL-EQUIPPED' TO FIGHT CRIME
So how should we take DB?I'm thinking 2nd, maybe 3rd depending on how well the checks go
>>30843991https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOt0tW26hRYJJ's new theme.>inb4 JJ's dad was researching Jack Fibers and Creeper is actually OUR MOM
>>30844143why do all the male antagonists have an unhealthy interest in JJ?
>>30844110I'd put one more lvl into it, maybe.
>>30843446What? I totally remember Crusty saying we're completely immune to our own fire.
>>30844442Ask him next time.
