(Sorry that it’s been so long since we’ve had a proper thread guys, that’s completely my fault. I’ll try to keep things more regular from now on. We’re going to have a double feature of Digger Quest, today and tomorrow to make up for it)

After the AE86 was totaled trying to reach the Silver Tower, you went out to scrounge up some money so
Cruiser could build an armored cage for it. You ended up checking the message board near city hall and took two job postings, one to find lost kittens and the other to investigate ‘family matters’ for a man who lived by the docks.

You recently finished finding the lost kittens for Mrs. Mary’s sick daughter, and had walked back to the house to find the Schlaf Police there. After asking Officer Shambles what was going on, he told you they believed Mrs. Mary had killed the man found dead yesterday.

“Are you serious?” You ask as the kittens in the box under your arm begin to mew and paw at your arm.

“She’s our only suspect at this time so we have to consider the possibility of her being the murderer.” Officer Shamble explains as the talking inside the house only grows more heated.

“Do you really believe that?”

“Not particularly, no.” Officer Shamble glances around as he speaks, making sure none of his fellow officers could hear him.

“However Mrs. Mary here owed a lot of money to the man that ended up dead yesterday. From what I’ve heard the debt was connected to medical expenses and seeing how her daughter is doing-“

“From what you told me this morning the man wasn’t just killed, he had his organs and blood removed. Now I’m not a police officer or a detective, but that sounds more in the
vein of someone more skilled then a woman who works at the Mayor’s Office.”
Officer Shamble frowns and nods his head.

“We understand that, but at the moment she’s our only suspect. If you can find something that points to someone else, or at least suggests she didn’t do it that would be a tremendous help for everyone involved.”

“Can I go in and hand over these kittens? I was hired to find them and they are her daughters…”

“I’m afraid we’ll be taking Mrs. Mary and her daughter down to the station for some questioning, perhaps it’s a good idea if you hold onto them for a while.”

Ira can take care of those kittens for now. We need to look into that other job, maybe something will pop out related to this case.

You might want to link the thread on your Twitter, Crosswire.

"Could I at least go in and tell her daughter I'm taking care of her cats? She's probably going to be miserable enough with all this going on, she at least deserves to know her cats aren't rotting away in some hole in the wall animal shelter." You say, holding up the box of adorable cats to Officer Shamble.

"I'm afraid not, but I'll tell her that there's someone decent taking care of them until she can come home with her mother" Officer Shamble says, managing to resist the adorable faces of the kittens.

>>30853349
"Alright, I'll hold onto these kittens for a while. I'll come by the station if I find anything that might be related to the case." You say as you make your way off the porch and begin walking back to the garage.

A few minutes later you return to find Cruiser and Ira sitting down to lunch.

"Did you find those cats?" Ira asks as you walk into the garage.

"Did you get the money?" Cruiser adds.

"I found the cats, but I couldn't return them to Mrs. Mary or get my payment." You explain, showing the two the box full of fluffy white kittens.

"Why not?" Ira asks, picking up one of the kittens and stroking it.

"Because Mrs. Mary is now a suspect in that murder that occurred yesterday. One of the officers stated most don't think she's the killer, but Mrs. Mary owed the guy who got killed a lot of money and at the moment she's their only suspect." You say, setting the box down on the floor.

"What? Really? With all the wackos that pass through here, they think a women with a sick daughter is responsible for a grizzly murder?" Cruiser asks, looking a bit disgusted.

"I swear the police are stupid no matter where I go. You're more of a suspect then she is Bass, no offence."

"None taken all things considered" You say, looking at the repaired AE86 with it's duel machinegun turret.

>>
>>30853707
"So what are you going to do now?" Ira asks as she kneels down and begins to play with the kittens in the box.

"Well I got another job posting off the board. It offers up to 2000 Zenny and involves investigating into 'family matters'. There's not contact information, just a home address. It's by the docks I think."

"That sounds pretty ominous, anything else?" Cruiser asks, looking over the address you wrote down.

"Well there was another posting. It was something along the lines of 'Looking for someone who wants to get rich.' however it was signed by someone named Hunter, so I ripped it up..."

"You think he might have something to do with this?" Cruiser asks.

You just shrug. "Maybe. He might be worth checking out..."

"Well whoever you go and check out you should take at least one of us with you. I'd like to come help if it means clearing Mrs. Mary's name" Ira says, standing up with a determined look in her eye.

"Yeah, this sounds pretty dangerous. I can't do anything here until I have the money to build that armor, so I'm free if you need me." Cruiser says with a nod.

There's two 'jobs' to investigate and two people you can choose to come with you. Which 'job' do you wish to check out, and who do you wish to bring with you Bass?
>>
>>30853816
Let's check out those family matters first. Get Ira with us, we need a smooth talker here.
Cruiser will be of help when we deal with Hunter and his goons.
>>
>>30853816
Bring Ira to the "family matters" job. Either it's something shady and having a young woman along will make them underestimate us, or it's something legitimate and having a young woman along will make them trust us. Either way, a win.

Besides, we don't want her around for when we go see Hunter. Though having Cruiser along probably wouldn't be much better, given that he helped us give Hunter's group a beatdown both physically and symbolically. Still better than the alternative. Maybe we should get a third NPC partner. Where's Gospel when you need him?
>>
>>30854022
We should probably pack a gun or something just in case things go south. Just hide it somewhere, maybe in Ira's purse.
And from now on, since we have a nutjob out there, everyone carries around the radios for communication.
>>
>>30853960
>>30854022
"Well I think I should check out this 'family matters' business first, you can come with me for that Ira. In the mean time Cruiser can stay here and watch the cats, you and me will go have some words with Hunter later."

"Alright, that works for me." Cruiser says with a nod before picking up the box of living white puff balls.

>>30854284

After checking your Bustergun and putting it in your backpack you and Ira head down to the docks.

Upon your arrival you have some difficulties finding the house the address is attached too, since the few houses at the docks have completely different addresses.

After Ira asks a few of the men selling fish, you're pointed in the right direction.

Walking to the very end of the docks you come to a dilapidated pier leading to a shack built out on the water. You and Ira walk carefully across the pier due to looking unstable, but manage to make it to the shack door without falling in the sea.

Knocking on the door you're left to wait in silence for a few moments until a voice calls out from somewhere inside.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

"I'm responding to that job you posted up on the bulletin board. The one about looking into family matters?"

"Don't say that out loud! Gah, you don't seem like an investigator, and who's that with you? I'm only paying one person for this job..."

"I'm his partner." Ira replies.

"Grrrr, fine. You seem a bit young for investigators, but you also seem young for...never mind. Just come in already."

The shack door is opened and you proceed inside, Ira following close behind.

The door closes behind you and for a moment you're left in the dark with only the glints of sunlight passing through the cracks in the shack to light the room.

However a light is turned on and you come face to face with an old man. His head is completely bald, his figure gaunt, and he's wearing tattered old clothes that seem a bit too big for his body.

>(Continued)

The old man stands in front of you, looking over you and Ira in the yellow light of the single light bulb hanging from the ceiling.

He continues to do this for a couple minutes to the point you're about to ask him to stop, but the moment you get ready to say something he finally speaks.

"Alright. I'm hiring you to look into some family matters of mine. If you do a good job I'll pay you 2000 Zenny, but if I don't find your through enough work I won't pay you a damn thing. Is that understood?"

And what does he mean when he says "thorough enough"? How much does he need?
>>

>>30854648
"Well I'm going to need more information on what this will entail. What do you need me to do? Is this job illegal? Will this get someone in trouble? How much does 'through enough' count for?" You ask, not wishing to get involved in anything crazy.

The old man sighs, looking somewhat irritated by your questions.

"I need you to find my brother and tell me what he's up too. In terms of legality I assume this is perfect legal, provided you don't do anything stupid. This is more for my safety then getting my brother into trouble. As for through I need you to tell me as much as you can about what my brother is doing and why he's here in Schlaf." The old man explains.

"I'm not paying you to ask me questions, I'm paying you to find me answers. This is standard investigative work, if you don't feel comfortable doing it then you can leave. Now are you going to take the job or not?"

"I'm not trying to invade your privacy, I just wanted to make sure I could deliver on the job. Now that I know I can, I'll take it, but I'll need to know about your brother so I can properly do it." You explain.

"Alright, alright." The old guy says, calming down a bit.

"His name is Joe. Joe Snipes. He's about 10 years younger then me, around 40-ish, stands around 5,9 with reddish brown eyes like mine. Last time I checked he was balding so unless he's wearing a wig he probably doesn't have a lot of hair." Old man Snipes explains.

"Alright, what does he do? Why are you afraid of him?" You ask.

"My younger brother is...what amounts of a bounty hunter of sorts. My entire family and just about everyone related to us is a bounty hunter, you could say it's our family business." The old man explains.

"We haven't spoken in years since I left that kind of business. I haven't given him much thought until I heard from a friend that he showed up in town yesterday looking for someone. I left my house and have been hiding out here since then. I don't know if he's been paid to kill me, but I sincerely doubt he's here on anything but business. I need you to figure out what he's doing here and if he's after my head or not." The old man explains.

"Any idea where we should start looking?" Ira asks.

"No idea. My brother enjoys drinking, but he doesn't do that a lot when he's on a job. Try searching for places you'd go if you were trying to figure out where someone was hiding, try to think like you would if you were trying to find me." Old Man Snipes states.

What do you wish to do Bass?
>>
>>30855988
Where would old man Snipes be during the day?
If his brother was after him, he'd probably look at the places the old man spends his time. He'd also hit the local pubs to ask around for his brother. And he must be staying somewhere, so we might want to ask at the inns.

He'll also look for a place that has a good vantage point that overlooks the locations the old man can be found, to make his job easier. So we might need to check those as well.

Also, important - does his brother have a specific way of taking out a target? Could he be behind that man that was killed recently?
>>
>>30855988
I'm not sure we can trust that Joe is after his brother. For one thing, we probably have a bounty on our heads as well. Or it could be that loanshark Miss Mary owed money to. Not sure why Joe would take the organs, though. That seems a bit weird of a way to confirm a kill. Whatever, point is we can't be sure who the target is. We need a way to narrow things down.

Okay, for now let's return to the garage and fill Cruiser in on the details (also pet the kittens. We're going to give these kittens to that little girl eventually, but for now we enjoy their cuteness as much as possible). Then we need to hit up the local inns and ask if anyone featuring that description is around. If anyone questions our interest in him claim that he's our uncle and that he told us to meet him on Schaf but he never said where. It's relatively plausible, given that Bass has the same eye color as this guy.

>inb4 he actually IS related to us, and our mother's maiden name was Snipes
>>
>>30856311
The loanshark is from another island, as is Joe. Could be that the loanshark was followed to the island by the bounty hunter. Miss Mary probably has nothing to do with that - if she ordered the hit, that'd only get her into more money trouble, and she already barely deals with that.

But yeah, for now we need to narrow things down. Fill Cruiser on the details, but before ask the old man where he usually spends his time. If Joe was after him, he'd look for the old man there. Then lets hit the inns, pubs, all that.
>>
>>30856515
Oh, I wasn't suggesting Miss Mary ordered the hit. Just that Joe took him out. I was assuming it was some unrelated issue.
>>
>>30855988
Relative to the plot right now, Joe is either knows the island will be attacked and is just waiting around for the pirates, is helping the pirates somehow, or was hired by someone else to do the murder(Probably not Miss Mary because of the organs).

"Where would you normally be during the day?"

"I normally work down at the governmental sector, I help maintain the weapons the police and the militia use around here. When I'm not working I'm usually at home at my house in the residential sector and on occasion I like to go down and have some drinks at Roader's Pub, it's the only proper drinking establishment in the island." Old Man Snipes states.

"Does your brother have a specific weapon he uses to take out his target?" You ask.

"Yes, he uses a Bustergun modified for sniping. He's known to carry a folding shield somewhere on his body too, so don't think he's not against getting close to a target to kill them. He's old like me, but he's replaced his limbs so don't think he'll be slow."

"Does he...take anything from the targets to confirm a kill? Like organs or anything?"

Old Man Snipes shakes his head. "Most of the time he shoots his target in the head and leaves. If his employer requested he take a picture or a head, he'd probably do that. But I don't think he'd take organs, too messy."

The old man shows you the location of Roader's Pub, his home, and where he worked on the map you got from the Sleeper Inn.

"Please don't get the police or the militia involved. He's my brother, and if anyone found out I was related to the Snipes family, I'd be out of a job and living in this shack for good." Old Man Snipes pleads.

"Don't worry, Bass wouldn't do anything like that." Ira says reassuringly.

"You have a lot of faith in your partner young lady, I sure hope it's not misplaced..."

You now know Joe is a sniper of sorts, keeping an eye out for sniping locations might be a good idea, there aren't a lot of tall buildings in Schlaf though...
>(Cont)
>>
>>30856631
Yeah, the weapon thing is a good idea. Might give us a clue on how the guy operates, and probably which places to look after - if he's using a sniper, he'll probably set up a nest somewhere high enough where he could look for his victim.

The organ thing is the only thing off. If the guy is a professional killer, he'd just do his job and leave. The missing organs are related to something else entirely. Maybe that job Hunter was offering.
>>
>>30856715
Why do I have this odd feeling that Hunter is going Buffalo Bill on us? Guy was a bit nutty to begin with.. that or it's our robotic dog companion and that guy was TOTALLY going to hurt us and he wanted to bring us a murder present.

"Alright, I'll start the investigation today. I'll return when I have the information you want, will you be staying here till then?"

"Yep, if I'm not here it ether means I'm dead or I'm hiding from my brother." Old Man Snipes explains before you and Ira leave.

"What are we going to do Bass? A bounty hunter sounds pretty dangerous, especially if he's not after his brother..." Ira voices her worries as you begin walking.

"Let's head back to the garage and tell Cruiser what's up, maybe he might know something." You suggest.

"Alright." Ira says, following you as you walk through the fish market.

"I've noticed things have gotten really crazy around here since you showed up. Where things this way back when you were on your home island?" Ira asks, as you realize where you've walked and try to avoid staring at any of the fish for sale.

"Not really. Things were always so boring and slow there. I'd wake up, Dad would try to get me to go fishing with him, I'd make an excuse, and then he'd leave, I'd go to work, and come back home to eat dinner alone. It was like that for years until I decided to investigate the ruins..." You frown, even as you leave the docks and enter the residential area, finally free from the stench of fish.

"You're worried about your Dad aren't you?" Ira asks as she picks up her pace to walk beside you.

"Of course I am. I can't help but feel it was my fault that the island got attacked. Even if it wasn't, If I'd been home maybe I could have helped some of the people in town. If Dad came home early from fishing, that means he's probably..."

Ira puts a hand on your shoulder and you look up to see her smiling.

"Don't think like that Bass. I'm sure you're Dad is alive and well, after all you're his son, so considering how tough you are he has to be pretty tough too, right?"

Throwing yourself into the garage, Ira slams the door shut and rushes over to you as several buster shots punch holes in the garage door.

You manage to bear through the intense pain, staying conscious through the shock and Ira's treatment of your wound. At first it seems like Ira can't stop the bleeding, she seems distracted by the exposed bone in the wound that you yourself try not to look at.

However her takes a keep breath and begins chanting something under her breath. Her hands pick up speed and she manages to stop the bleeding and bandage the wound before you lose too much blood.

"Bass are you OK?" Ira asks as he finishes bandaging the wound.

"Y-yeah." You say, gritting your teeth. "Why can I still feel my right arm?" You ask, feeling pain and physical sensations from it even though it's been severed from your body.

"It's probably just ghost pains." Ira says, trying to reassure you.

"He's still probably out there Bass." Cruiser states with a grimace.

"Tom and Tom aren't here so we don't have to worry about them, but I'm worried this guy might start killing people if we just sit around for too long. Cruiser bites his lower lip and looks to the car, obviously not wanting it to come to any more harm. However he nods.

"Maybe, but you need to turn to get onto the street. If I rolled it out there it'd just end up running into the house across the street, provided that Joe doesn't shoot the engine or blow the tires out. I could probably try driving out there and speeding down the street to get his attention, but I'd be an easy target in the car..."

"Ira, you've been to the church a lot right? Have you ever been to the bell tower before?" You ask, getting to you feet and bracing yourself against a work bench with your remaining arm.

"Yeah, why do you ask?"

"Do you think we could collapse it on him with the machine gun or my buster gun?"

Ira shake her head. "It's pretty sturdy and made of stone, I don't think your buster gun or the machine-gun would do enough damage. Maybe a charged shot might do something but it'd probably take more then one shot."

>>30858520
"Alright, do you have the Father's number? Maybe he could tell us what's going on there.." You grit your teeth and begin to walk around, trying to get used to the lost load that used to be your arm.

"Bass, if that sniper is in that tower that means Father doesn't know he's ether or he's..." Ira grimaces and shakes her head. "I don't think calling him is a good idea, if Father is OK the sniper could kill him."

"Yeah but he'd have to leave the bell tower to do it right? I'm sure we could get over there in time to save him. It's not like we can call the cops, he'd probably snipe them before they could get within a block of us." Cruiser states.

Calling the Father could put him at risk of getting shot by the sniper if he isn't already dead. Having Cruiser drive out and serve as a distraction could also get him killed as well. However not doing anything could lead to even more people getting killed, especially if the police show up...

What do you wish to do Bass?

Let's just write those ideas off as being the blood loss making us silly.
>>

Ok let do the mirror and hat trick. Get a big rod and put a helmet on it. stick it out there and look at the tower with a mirror. Maybe he'll take the bait and we can confirm he's in the tower.

Last thing we want to do is make a huge plan about the church and find out he's not even there.

>>30858652

>>
>>30858652
>>30858775
Possibly, however yelling probably won't cut it. If you had some means to make yourself louder so he could hear you clearly from the bell tower then maybe.

You are in a junk shop with Cruiser, maybe there's something in the front of the store he can use?

>>30858638
"Cruiser, take my helmet and a mirror out of my bag for me. Ira, could you open the garage door big enough for me to stick my head out?" You say, grabbing a wrench off a nearby bench and lying down near the door.

"Are you crazy? You'll get your head shot off!" Ira exclaims.

"I'm just sticking my helmet out. Cruiser sticks a mirror out to see where he is, and when he fires on my helmet thinking it's me we'll know where he is. They did it on a radio drama I listened to when I was a kid." You explain, receiving your helmet from Cruiser and sticking it on the end of the wrench.

"Alright..." Ira says, opening the door a pinch and allowing you to stick your helmet out into the open, Cruiser sliding the mirror outside at the same time. Not a second after he lined up the mirror with the church is your helmet hit by a buster bolt.

Bits of heated plastic hit your face as the wrench flies from your head, skidding across the ground as bits of headlamp and helmet fly everywhere. A second shot hits the mirror Cruiser is holding, nearly sending shards into his hand.

Ira drops the garage door and you both roll to the side as Joe puts another couple of shots through the door to try and hit you with no success.

"I'm pretty sure he's in the tower, that or he's invisible and standing outside the door with that kind of aim." Cruiser says, rubbing his hand.

Joe is definitely in the tower and his aim does not suck one bit. What do you wish to do Bass?
>>
>>30859159
Well shit that guys good. Can we get a map of the area so we know exactly where Joe is and anything we can hide behind while making our way around the church?
>>
>>30859159
Using the streets is no good. We need to stick to cover, find a way around him, and we need something to distract him with as well.

Does Cruiser have some heavy metal plate around? Bass could use that as a shield and approach the tower head on and open fire on him.
The rest of the team can move around, lock him in the tower, maybe use some flares to set the tower ablaze or something.
>>
>>30859451
The tower's made of stone, it probably doesn't catch fire easily. Moving around behind cover is a good idea, though, he probably wouldn't realize we've left the junk shop for some time after the fact.
>>
>>30859159
It's late afternoon/early evening, right?

Use the flares for whatever plan we have, the light should alert people and make it harder for him to aim.
>>
>>30859540
He's probably monitoring all the exits, though. We need a distraction, and something that'd keep him occupied long enough for us to slip out into cover. Flares might be a good idea, but those only work for a short time - not enough for us to make a move.

I was thinking of getting a heavy plate and using it as a shield. Maybe throw a few on the car so he can't shoot it to pieces (doesn't have to be a good job, just some extra slapped-on armor), get the car on the street, and use the machinegun to reduce that tower to ash. Instead of popping out, just get a few mirrors so you can see what's going on.

(Here's a map of the general area, it's crappy but it should give you an idea of where everything is)

If someone could get across the street without being seen then they could probably use the houses as cover and get close enough to the church to prevent getting shot, at least from the tower.

>>30859451
>>30859809
Cruiser does have some metal laying around. It's just some random scrap metal, not very good for much, but he could probably use it to make a shitty shield or some shitty armor for the car. However anyone trying to use the turret would be exposed and since you only have one mirror left, you doubt it'd be feasible to try and shoot from inside the car.

>>30858652
You could try having Cruiser throw a microphone together provided there is something at the front of the store he can use. Maybe you could talk the sniper into a duel or something? It'd be crazy and stupid, but you could try it...

What do you wish to do Bass?
>>
>>30859901
We can't send Cruiser to the front of the store, Joe could shoot him through the windows. So there goes the "challenge to a duel" option.

Can the machinegun shoot through the wall of the garage? We could try suppressing him that way so we could get to the church while he's ducking for cover.
>>
>>30859901
In that case, Joe can't hit targets right beside the building. The biggest danger is crossing the street.

I'm thinking:
Drive out with Bass in the side.
Fire Flare at area right in front of Joe's line of sight
Cruise drifts as soon as he gets forward momentum
Bass dives out towards church as the car rotates.
Cruise gets back into garage or just ducks until it's over.

Can we get anons from DAQ to help out?
>>
>>30859901
Do we have anything that could make a lot of smoke or a big flash? We need to set distractions off on all sides of the building so we have a better chance of getting across the street
>>
>>30860047
It might be able too, if it can't at the very least it'll be able to fire out the door. However if the machinegun puts too many holes in the walls it might ruin the safety you currently have it the garage.

>>30860049
>>30859582
You'll need to expose yourself to fire a flare and actually hit somewhere close to Joe for the flare to have any kind of blinding effect.

>>30860149
There's a lot of oil and some gas in the garage. Not a whole lot, but maybe you could have him try to cook up some kind of smoke or fire bomb.
>>
>>30860049
Is it a flare gun or just regular flares you throw around?

If it's a flare gun, we can screw with him. Have Cruiser mount some armor on the car, especially the sides that will be facing Joe and the engine block. Don't start the car, just open the other door and push the car over to the other side. While that's going on, someone shoots a flare at the bell tower. We get the sniper disoriented for a second, and a man on the other side of the streets. Hell, we could probably maneuver the car around if there's enough scrap to cover the driver's seat - get the car in Joe's blind spot, then hit the machine guns.

If that's not an option, just get someone in the car and cover him with a blanket. Roll out the car, throw out a flashbang to disorient the sniper, the guy in the car gets on the guns and levels the tower.
>>
>>30860208
Okay, so how about this: First we armor the car a little bit. Just a few plates that we can easily toss off as needed. Next we make some crude smoke bombs to provide some visual cover. Then we fire a flare out the door for an initial distraction, followed by the smoke bombs to cover the way across the street. Drive the car out and open fire with the machine gun to suppress him and keep him down. Bass charges across the street to get to the church, Cruiser and Ira retreat inside the garage. Then we ascend up the tower and stab Joe.
>>
>>30859901
...Do we not have a phone in the shop? We could call the police for help. Yeah, sure, if this is anything like most fiction they'll be basically useless, but maybe we'll be lucky.
>>
>>30860208
>>30860231

How about this. Bass gets in the car and covers himself with a blanket liek you said. Cruiser makes a couple smoke grenades and gives one to Ira to take to the back of the shop.

Have her toss a smoke grenade out the back and something large just after it. At the same time Cruser opens the garage door and pushes the car so it drifts across the street. Once it reaches the other side we bail and head inside.

Or is that far too complicated?
>>
>>30860338
We're worried about bringing more people into this. Don't want anyone else getting their arm shot off. But maybe it could work to bring a distraction.
>>
Rolled 2 + 1

As you think over some plans on how to approach things, you ask Cruiser to a couple of smoke bombs.

"I don't have a solid plan just yet, but we're going to need some kind of distraction and cover if we want to avoid getting shot." You explain.

Cruiser nods. "I'll try to see how many I can make with what we have here..."

>>30860347
Hiding in the car and rolling it out to get to the other side of the street might be a good idea, but Joe could easily shoot out the tires and trap you in the middle road. Armor might be able to solve that, but there's a risk it could happen.

>>30860316
You could try throwing smoke down and trying to hit the tower through the smoke's cover, then rolling the car out and pinning Joe in the tower with the machineguns, but if you missed with the flare he'd have another shot at you. Even in your armor you'd probably be in big trouble if you got hit...

What plan sounds better Bass?
>>
>>30860347
Could easily end in Ira getting shot. This is a pro sniper we're dealing here. The best ways to deal with these are:
> Support fire - usually done via artillery or heavy ordinance. Basically we bring the roof down on him.
> Rush - either to cover or him directly. Too dangerous for now.
> Smoke screen - possibility, if we can cook something up.
> Pincer attack - attack him from two directions, avoid frontal assault, and disable his escape route.
We can do a smoke screen first, get the car out long enough to get to the houses, then have the assault team attack the tower.
>>
Rolled 3

>>30860508
Could we make an air cannon that could feasibly reach the tower?
>>
>>30860358
Informing the police would also be the proper thing to do in this kind of situation, especially since we're pinned down, and would help prevent us from getting as much of a bad reputation from all of this. We've already crashed a pirate aircraft, sunk a ruin causing earthquakes, and driven a converted carboat armed with machine guns around the island. I can't imagine we'll be on the law's good side if we keep this up.

Wait, how the heck has no one in the nearby buildings called the police yet?
>>
>>30860508
Either call the police ourselves, possibility asking what they'd do in this situation, or have Ira call the police if we're about to try a different plan. We don't want this guy getting away, even if they can't help with the immediate issue.
>>
>>30860508
The second. They're both risky. At least with the smoke cover we can retreat back inside more easily if it goes wrong.
>>
>>30860616
Who says they haven't? We're losing time and blood. Chances of catching him off guard are slim, and he messed up by not killing us with his first shot. He's probably set a timer for himself. If he hears sirens he'll scram and wait for another chance.

We could use that to our advantage, call the police and wait for sirens. When we hear them drop smoke and get across the street while he's trying to get away.
>>
>>30860508
Ye gods, those 20s from before have been a waste.

Car+Flare
Jump out of car+smoke

It's not the best plan, but...
>>
>>30860595
With what exactly? Cruiser doesn't have a lot to work with.

>>30860508
After a couple minutes worth work, Cruiser comes over to you, shaking his head.

"Sorry, I can't make a smoke bomb with any of the materials I have. All I could make was this petrol bomb, just light the rag and toss it to set an area on fire, it won't provide much cover though...

>1 Petrol Bomb received.

"Shit, there goes my hopes of a smoke screen..." You curse to yourself.

"There are some old tires in the garage. You could set them on fire using the petrol bombs contents and roll then out, they'd probably throw up some pretty thick smoke after a bit." Cruiser suggests.

>>30860616
>>30860657
There is a police at the back of the garage, you could call the police and inform them on what's happening. The buster shots aren't very loud, and unless someone witnessed what happened you doubt anyone has called yet.

If you call the police there's a chance Joe might attempt to flee and give you the chance to catch him. However there is also a chance he could kill and approaching police officers and attempt to storm your position.

What do you wish to do Bass?

How exactly do buster gun projectiles work?
>>
>>30860508
The smoke screen one.
Can we make some smoke grenades? Just enough to provide us with a window of opportunity to get the car out. You don't even have to throw them in his face - they'll make enough smoke to cover the streets even if we roll them under the garage door.

Slap some armor on the car and use it as a mobile cover, get to the other side through the smoke screen, and lay down covering fire from Joe's blind spot while Bass goes in to smoke the guy out.

I would assume he had pipes and flammable aerosols. Like a basic, basic, potato gun. Can he make a potato gun? Does he have any compressed air tanks?
>>
>>30860782
>>30860783
They're a type of energy weapon. You don't understand the science of it but they're some kind of miniaturized hand held plasma/particle weapon that uses a small refractor or refractor shard to generate energy blasts. They don't make a lot of noise when fired, at least the ones you've used. They don't work under water and the shots will dissipate after a certain distance unless they're specifically modified to have a longer range.

>>30860783
Cruiser botched his attempt to make a smoke bomb and wasted the materials. All he could get from his work was a petrol bomb.

>>30860831
Cruiser has a few old pipes lying around and a few aerosols that could be flammable. Perhaps he could make a potato gun, but this is hardly the time to be messing around. What use would it be?
>>
>>30860767
Too risky to call the cops, might end up with them getting shot. And it'd ruin the deal with the guy who hired us.
Though we could fill them in on what's happening, and ask them if they have any smoke bombs. Fill one car with them, and have it roll down the street as a portable smoke cover.

Does Cruiser have a cart of some sorts? We could light those logs on fire, then roll them out that way into the street. It could serve as a smoke screen. Get those aerosols as well, those will help us with setting the damn thing on fire.

Honestly we really don't have a way to cross the street. It will take time for the tires to throw up enough smoke to help us and he'll just charge us if we try. "This guy is here to kill me, If anyone gets killed i'll be partly to blame. Besides I'm sick of waiting around here! That asshole took my arm, and I think I should repay him the favor!"

Popping the garage door you roll the cart out, light the petrol bomb, and light the cart on fire. Within moments the intense flames cook the tires, throwing up a putrid black smoke that quickly rises into the air.

The flare flies in an arc and lands inside the tower, filling it's normally dark interior with a brilliant phosphorus light that no doubt blinded, or at the very least disoriented the sniper inside of it.

Coming to a stop, you leap out of the car and make a mad dash for the Church just as Ira begins to open fire on the tower, spraying the machine gun and peppering the stone tower with bullets.

Entering the Church you fish out your Bustergun with your remaining arm and look around for the stair case leading to the bell tower, not seeing the Father anywhere.

Finding the staircase you quickly begin to ascend it as fast as your legs allow. Half way up the machine gun fire suddenly stops and your mind begins to race.

"Did they run out of ammo? Did the guns jam? Did Joe shoot them?"

The worry carries you the rest of the way up the stairs. Entering the bell tower you find Joe with your back to you, the flare fizzled out the machine gun fire ceased. The father lays on the ground, but you can't tell if he's unconscious or dead.

If you shot Joe now, you could probably send him off the ledge to his death. However if you switched to your knife you could stab him and try to take him alive.

I think it's too risky. We'll get one chance. If we shoot the shield then we have a shoot out with a crack shot. We shoot the gun then we face a charging angry shield of hate. Charge that shit and blow a hole through his chest.

Does it look like we could force him to surrender by holding him at busterpoint? We could do that, get whatever info we needed, then shoot him if we wanted.
>>
>>30861989
That still leaves him with a suped up buster versus our ancient model. You'll need a real plan before I can agree with B
>>
>>30862060
That is....naive and ill-advised. Again, only one arm, and he's probably much better with takedowns even at our best.

You raise your Bustergun and fire it into Joe's back, not taking the risk of a missing a headshot like he did. The shot hits and punches through his armor, the force of the impact sending the bounty hunter head first over the stony edge and he begins sliding down the slopped church roof, his arms flailing in the hopes of grabbing hold of something. You watch as the man who tried to kill you flies off the edge of the roof, down to the cold hard ground 50 feet or so below.

While you can't see what happens to him, you can see Ira and Cruiser's faces from up here, and judging but their expressions, you don't think you'll have to worry about Joe ever again. Calmed by the fact you claimed revenge against the man who blew off your arm, you turn to check on the Father.Slipping off your Buster Gun you check his pulse and find his heart is still beating.

You'd carry father downstairs, but only having one arm would make that difficult, so you head downstairs and head over to the AE86 avoiding looking at Joe's broken body.

"Ira, Father's alive but I think he's unconscious, could you go up and check up on him?" You ask.

"Yes, right away!" Ira leaves the car and rushes towards the church, just as you spy a tank rolling down the street towards you.

The ground shakes a little as the blue painted tank rolls right up to the AE86, pointing it's gun down at you and Cruiser. The top pops open and a grey haired man with a cigar in his mouth sticks his head out.

He glares at you and glances around, his eyes drawn to the remains of Joe.

"You little bastard..." He growls, blowing out a column of smoke. "Not only do you have to stir up trouble, you have to ruin my chance to have a little fun."

"If killing people is your idea of fun I no longer give a shit if you hate me or not." You state, glaring back at the General.

"Yep, you're a Digger alright. They're ether scumbags looking to a make quick buck, or high and mighty little idiots who think they're heroes. It's because of people like YOU that the Week of Rein happened. The only difference between you and a pirate is what you call yourself!" General Tin flicks his cigar at you and grins.

"Well if I can't have fun with a Sniper...then I might as well have fun with a Digger..."

(And this is where we'll end things tonight. Sorry that you guys ended up in that garage so bloody long. I'm back in the groove of things though, tomorrow's thread will hopefully have a better pace to it)

Loot that goddamn shield and that goddamn buster, STAT.

I just hope Cruiser and Ira can talk the man down.

I told you he was going to try and kill us!

Sure thing Crosswire, thanks for running. Fun thread as always.
You're doing Digger tomorrow night as well?

>>30862501
The militia will most likely confiscate it as evidence.
Along with our car and buster rifle.
>>
>>30862534
Yep. I'm running a double feature to make up for all the cancellations and reschedules I've done for this quest lately.
>>

goddamnit

More and more I wish we didn't stick that pendant in.
>>
>>30862471
Okay, how has no one shot this man yet? Christ, we need to stage a military coup, don't we?

Well, this was a fun thread. See you next time, Crosswire.

He would've hated us anyway. We brought pirates to his calm and peaceful neighborhood, after all.

The "awakening a reaverbot goddess" part is just icing on the cake.

The way this guy talks, I think he would be happy to have pirates in his calm and peaceful neighborhood. It would give him an excuse to do shoot some guys. I just think he doesn't like us because we're not under his control. It's not about the potential threat or chaos we could cause with our actions. He just doesn't like having someone with a gun who he can't order around.
>>
>>30862914
That's also likely.

Anyway, we should tell them to check out that sniper rifle and compare it to the wounds on that dead guy.
If there's a match, that's the killer, and Mrs Mary should be set free.
