Sorry, /tg/. I don't have the interlude with me today. I got heavily distracted by QT witch grils.
Which is funny, considering who your partner is.

Dice Rules: I take the best of the first three, and any crits within the first five will play their part, but no longer overwrite a success or failure. Critical twenties can be stored and expended as save points. Luck rolls can be made to increase (or decrease) chances of success (or failure) on another roll, a crucial decision, or to influence travel sequences.

LAST TIME ON DIGIMON QUEST:

The holy digimon nods slowly, and stands.

"I...I must go deliberate on this. There is much I need to consider." She gestures to the tent. "You may stay here if you so wish, and you are free to remain with us as long as necessary." Gokuwmon doesn't look too pleased about this, but nods regardless. Sanzomon bows as she departs, and you find yourself returning the gesture. It was only polite, you figure. As the two digimon leave the tent, you look to the others. Several of them look deep in thought...with the exception of Troian, who looks rather surprised about the whole thing. Your partner shifts and fidgets nervously beside you.

It seems you've gained the hospitality of yet another powerful group. And their attention, for better or for worse.

Time for digimon

Show the dohickies we bought to everyone else. See if anything interesting happens.

How ya doing Gale?

So, time to pool information and make some plans...

Rather pleased with Witch Craft Works. Ayaka is based.
it gives me Sally Ideas.
Other than that, I'm doing rather well.
>>
>>30854702

Witch Craft Works is awesome

But that motherfucking EP I can't get it out of my head

I also thought it was neat that the Anime is pretty much a one to one of the manga
>>
>>30854423
Hmm, we need to reassure and calm Sally down. Probably a quick "how're you holding up?"/"what's on your mind?" and a reassuring hand on hers should do it.

Then discuss our purchases with the group except the necklace we're planning to give to Sally. We'll do that in private later.

You place a hand on Sally's shoulder, giving it a small squeeze. She looks over her shoulder at you, and smiles, relaxing visibly. You make a note to ask her about it later, away from the others.

Turning back to the group, you take a moment to think, before speaking.

"So, does anyone have any thoughts on this? On the situation, or this information?" Daniil shrugs and Niklas shakes his head, but it's Zoe who nods.

"I have a feeling we just met two of the four characters from the Journey to the West." She states calmly, and Niklas blinks in surprise.

"The story about...what was it, a king of monkeys?" He asks, and your friend nods, seemingly pleased by that.

"That's it. It was a story about the Immortal King of the Monkeys and a Monk who freed him from imprisonment." She looks the whole group in the eyes one at a time.

"And the who trapped him was The Buddha."

This time it's Daniil who makes the connection. For all his efforts to look like the brawn of his and Niklas' duo, he can't hide how quick his mind works, it seems.

"So this Shakamon is..." Zoe nods again.

"Most likely the analogue to Buddha. Which would make Sanzomon's answers make a bit more sense, though not completely." She frowns. "The Buddha was supposed to be very compassionate, yet this Shakamon doesn't seem to be." You all take a moment to think on this, before Aslan just shrugs and grumbles.

"There's no point thinking about it so hard right now. We don't have all the information anyway, so what's the point?" You're forced to concede the point, as is his partner. He IS right.

Instead of continuing that line of thought, you decide to show the others what you traded for- minus the necklace, that is. You're planning on giving that to Sally later. Pulling out the box and the mirror, you pass them around, asking if the others can feel anything off about them.
>>

After some consideration, however, none of them can notice anything out of the ordinary about them. A bit disappointed, you return them to your bag, making another mental note to examine them in more detail later.

After another couple of minutes, Zoe stands up, stretching.

"Well, I'm going to look around a bit more, see if I can learn anything more about this place, or our...hosts." She says that last big cautiously. Aslan follows her out of the tent, paying the rest of you little heed, save for a small, careless wave. Well, at least he's not getting any worse.

Niklas gets up as well, his partner following. "I was going to take a look at the market earlier," he says. "I never got the chance to look around." Daniil offers to go with him, and the two and their partners exit the tent as a group, leaving you alone with Sally yet again.

It would seem this is your chance.

"Sal, what kind of a partner would I be if I couldn't tell when something's up. I'm not going to push, but I know you're nervous about something and if there's any way I can help I want you to know I'm here and I want to, ok?"

"Sally," You say, your voice carrying a slight edge to it. "Don't lie to me." Her surprise-and just a bit of hurt- flashes across her face before she looks down, claws gripping her dress. You wince, realizing just how that sounded, and gently place your hands over hers. "Sal, what kind of a partner would I be if I couldn't tell when something's wrong? You seem distracted...and if something is weighing on your mind... if I can, I want to help." She looks away, her cheeks burning, biting her lip.

"Wayne..." She takes a deep breath, and looks you in the eye. "Why aren't you bothered by me?" Her unexpected question throws you a bit, but you recover quickly.

"What do you mean?" Your partner sighs, and takes one of her hands from yours, placing it over her own chest, about where her heart...well, where you hope her heart is.

"I've wondered about it before, Wayne, but... you've been confronted about me by every Holy Digimon we meet. First it was Aslan, then the Sovereigns, and now Sanzomon..." She shakes her head, looking more and more miserable. "Don't you ever think I might not have been your intended partner? That there was a mistake in my programming?"

>What will you say, Wayne?
>>
>>30856296

Fuck. That. Shit. Hand her the necklace tell her not to say stupid shit anymore. She came out of the digiegg we hatched, she's our partner.
>>
>>30856296
"Do you want to help the Digital World? Do you want to do it with me?"

"For the Sovereigns, and Sanzomon, and whoever decided to 'choose' you and me, whether we were the 'right' choice may be important, but my only choice has been the answer to those two questions."
>>
>>30856345
>She came out of the digiegg we hatched, she's our partner.
This. You're not holy, so what? I sure don't see their holy asses trying to save the world.

WCW is pretty good. Which witch wud you kiss?
>>
>>30856296
Look straight into her eyes "No." give that a few seconds to settle in. "Sally, you are who you are, that's what defines you, not what type of digimon you are. I don't know why holy types get nervous around you, but I think it's probably their fault for rushing to judgement before getting to know you, not yours for being coded the way you are. You're my friend and my partner, and I very glad to have you."
>>
>>30856296
"Does it matter, after all this time? Yeah, they all confronted me about this and tall of them got the same answer. What we are and who we are is different."
"Besides, even if others are concerned about your nature, that doesn't necessarily mean that you are the strange one. It is just as likely that I am actually the odd one and that is why I have you as a partner."
>>
>>30856296
"No. You're Sally. That's all that matters."
Succinct.
>>
>>30856296
Assuming we manage to reassure her, ask her to turn around and close her eyes. When she does that we put the necklas around her neck and tell her we wanted to get her something special to say thank you for being such a good partner, and because we like her and thought she might like it.
>>
>>30856425
Ayaka is pretty much perfect. I'd also any one of the Tower Witch five. Probably Tanpopo.

And this is a whole lot to work with. Oh my.

I'll be trying to find a way to incorporate as much of this as I can without it being too much.

You look your partner in the eyes, your hands on her shoulders.

"No."

"But-"

"You are who you are, Sally. Isn't that what you told me? There will only be one of you." She nods wordlessly, and you smile. "Sally, you were the one who came to me. Your nature doesn't upset me. And after all this time, does it matter? Yes, they all confronted me about you, and I gave them all the same answer, didn't I?" Again, she nods, this time with a small smile of her own. "Sally, what you are and the question of your nature, or whether we were the right 'choice' for one another might be important to them, but I only have two for you." You move your hands to cup her cheeks, your palms framing her face. you can feel her warming under your touch, her cheeks becoming rosier with every second.

"Do you want to save this world?" A wordless nod.

"Do you want to do it by my side?" This time, there's only a shaking breath, as if your digimon is trying to hold something back.

"...Yes."

"Then that's that." You say, pulling your partner into a hug. You feel her arms wrapping around you as she pulls you closer, her body pressing against yours in a way that's almost reassuring- she hasn't lost her desire to be close to you, even with her sudden doubts.

"But Sally?" Her response is muffled by the crook of your neck.

"Yeah, Wayne?"

"If there's one...command, I'll ever give....don't lie to me, alright?" She nods, the action rubbing her face into your shirt. "I don't ever want to not be able to trust you...and I don't want you to hide your troubles from me."

"...Alright... I promise."

Deciding that you're not going to wait any longer, you reach into your pocket, and pull out the necklace.

"Turn around." You urge, and Sally does, allowing you to put it on. It sits gently on her collarbone, and she lifts it with a claw, almost reverently. "I thought you might like it." She looks at you curiously.

You're not at all surprised that she engulfs you in another hug, this one much tighter. You return it, enjoying Sally's presence and the strength she's holding you with. There it is again, that feeling of security in your partner's arms. After a moment, she pulls back, but in the process, her ankle strikes one of the stumps you had been using as chairs, tripping her up, and in the process dragging you down with her.

It takes an almost inhuman effort not at all related to your arm strength, but you manage to push yourself up, pulling your partner with you. She looks...just a little bit disappointed, and you do know the feeling.

"Sorry about that," You say. "You're not hurt, are you?" Sally shakes her head, the blush on her cheeks fading. You pick up her hat from where it fell, dusting it off for her. Tsukihime is dark. VERY. DARK.
Fate ain't got shit on Tsukihime. That said, Arcuied and Hisui made everything worth it.

Just know that every single route has its share of pain and NOPE, but the good endings will usually make up for them. Read the manga for more Arcuied lovin', and a vastly improved ending.

Also, don't play Kohaku or Akiha's routes if you don't want things to get INCREDIBLY uncomfortable and somewhat disturbing.

It's also incredibly wordy. A good portion of it is dedicated just to explaining how his setting works, which is why I like Nasu's works so much. He just devotes so much time to world-building.

Something I hope to take advantage of if I ever run that European Extreme Grail War Quest my friend gave me the notes for.

SACCHIN ROUTE SOON
NEW ARCUEID A SLUT
>>
So, speculation!
I think we're really damn close to getting the next stage of Sally's evolution - that's why these things happen.
The situation is warping under Lilithmons overwhelming future power, putting us in situations where Lust shows most... we're close to getting within one step of Lilithmon's awe-inspiring form.

...When we get to LadyDevimon, Sally will likely be far more assertive in her teasing, because her destined form, Lilithmon, is one of the seven Great Demon LORDS.

It also happens with Daniil and his sudden bout of intense emotion when he and Niklas were walking around at the start of their journey

>>30859211
If anyone's getting Beelstarrmon, it's likely gonna be Daniil.
For one, I don't think a single digimon would be able to hold two versions of Great Demon Lords as potential within them.

Rider is sort of, there are no dedicated routes in F/HA, so even Illya gets some pseudo-heroine time (read: sleeping in the same bed as Shirou), also one of her maids is heavily hinted to also have a thing for king clueless.

>[kiss her again: cheek]

Well, it worked in that movie...

"As you wish," You say, tilting her chin up and kissing her on the cheek. Sally sighs, eyes closed and a smile on her lips, before she moves. You feel a soft touch on your own cheek, the same one you just kissed, and she pulls back, breaking the contact completely, the smile growing as she does.

"Thank you, Wayne. I..I want you know that I couldn't have been given to a better partner." She clasps her hands behind her, and for a moment, she's nothing more than a girl. A girl you're falling for. "I'm happy to be yours."

It takes you a second to find your voice.

"And I couldn't ask for a better partner myself." You say, silently reveling in the blush that hasn't left her face for the last five minutes. The two of you remain there for a minute, just enjoying the calm that's now settled over the tent, before the sound of footsteps nears, and the moment is broken. The massive form of Gokuwmon parts the tent flaps, and the monkey king digimon beckons with one hand.

"Sanzomon needs to see you kids. I wouldn't keep her waiting." With that he leaves, apparently expecting you to follow. You and Sally share a look, one that speaks of disappointment, before you shrug and motion to the exit.

"After you, my dear." She giggles, and takes your offered hand, leading you out with her.

"So polite, Wayne. I didn't know you were a gentleman."

it only showed Saber, Archer and Rider at the fore of the posters. Those are the servants focused on the most in each of those routes. But, since Fate is the simplest route, I expect it to be elements of the toher two mixed into the first.

Probably they'll just adapt Heaven's Feel since it's the only one that hasn't got an anime. If they go anime original route, I can see them doing EMIYA.

"Usually? I'm not." You send her a wink. "But when it suits me, I can be." She replies with a coy smile back your way as you walk, slipping your arms together to walk side by side.

"And when does it suit you?" You grin and pull her a bit closer.

"When it does. And right now? I think it does." Your partner laughs, the sound sending a thrill down your spine.

"Never, ever change, Wayne." Sally all but purrs.

As far as you know, you don't really have any intention to.

You follow Gokuwmon's towering form around the tent to the other side of the camp, walking through parts of the site you haven't seen before, but won't, it seems, have time to visit. Eventually, the stalls and tents begin to thin, and you realize he's leading you to the outskirts of the camp. The purpose eludes you, until he stops and steps aside, motioning to keep going.

Before you, on a hill, is a tree. The only tree, to be clear. It stands tall, and its branches extend far. It's not particularly thick, but it looks strong nonetheless.

Standing beneath its branches, with her eyes closed and her fingers stroking the bark, is Sanzomon. She appears lost in thought, but this wasn't what you imagined when she said she was going to think on things. Oddly enough, none of the others are here. She doesn't turn as you approach, but you don't go unnoticed, either.

"What makes the children of your world so special, can you tell me?" She asks, almost absentmindedly.

"E-excuse me?" you can't help but be confused.

"In our hands, those symbols of power you bear are nothing more than a catalyst for our evolution. Powerful, yes, but nothing we cannot do without." Now, she turns, and her eyes lock onto the pair of you. "But in yours, so many other wonders can be achieved. And always, it is a child who is bestowed this sacred privilege. Can you tell me why?"

"Honestly?" You sigh, and run a hand through your hair. "I don't know. I don't think anyone has the answer to that right now. Not for sure, anyway. But what I do know," You look the priestess in the eyes. "Is that to you, it may be a catalyst, but to us, it represents everything we can do; all we CAN do, as humans: to talk, to think, to specialize, to plan, to feel, to form bonds." You feel Sally edge a bit closer to you, but keep your attention on the Holy Digimon before you. "And how Digimon are capable of all those things, too. I don't know how far it'll take us, or what its limits will end up being, but I at least have faith in what I can do."

Your peace said, you wait for the priestess's reply. She continues to stare at you, and the only thing keeping it from becoming creepy is the fact that she does blink. It's odd what you consider 'creepy' to be now. You can feel Sally start to fidget beside you, but a hand on hers and a quick, reassuring smile calms her down enough. Finally, Sanzomon closes her eyes and turns back to the tree.

"A good answer. An honest one." For a moment, the tall and composed digimon before you seems to deflate, if only a bit. Her posture is no longer the picture of elegance, it only speaks of weariness. "Faith, you say." She places a hand on its bark, running her fingers over it slowly. "Faith is all that has carried me these many cycles. Faith in Shakamon. Faith in my faith for him. Faith repeated so endlessly the word seems alien to me. But in myself, I do not dare to believe. To have Faith." She looks back to you, and for a moment, you can see just how tired she is. "I am afraid I am not strong enough to live up to my own Faith." She then looks past you, to her companion and the community you just left. "To their Faith." She looks back to you, her gaze softening.

"That was a good answer, child. I hope that in the end, you are not wrong."

"That was a good answer, child. I hope that in the end, you are not wrong."

Her words carry a sort of finality, and you wonder if this is her way of dismissing you. When she doesn't say anything else, and kneels under the tree, you figure that's as good a confirmation as anything. You start to walk back toward the small colony the holy Digimon had gathered about her, Sally following close behind. As you pass by, Gokuwmon sets a hand on your shoulder, stopping you. One of his fingers alone is as big as your whole hand.

"Don't take what she says personally, kid." He mutters. "Sanzomon's been pretty much on autopilot for a long time. She just wants to save as many as she can, and the reality of it all got to her a long time ago." He looks from his fellow Journeyer to you. "You kids have given her a lot to think about. It's been a while since she did this, you know." He nods to the tree. "Sat under that, I mean. Shakamon did it all the time, or so she tells me." You look back to the priestess under the tree, before eying the monkey king.

"Why tell me this?" Gokuwmon just snorts.

"'Cuz it really sucks to watch the most level-headed of us wallow in despair. Maybe it's cuz the rest of us are idiots and she ain't, but the pain of it all got to her before it did any of us. You kids might be able to change that." And with that, he walks up the hill, sitting next to Sanzomon under the tree. As if he's just there to keep her company.

You don't think you've seen a more touching thing since you got here.

Sally smiles at the sight, then looks to you.

"Well, Wayne? What now?"

"Why don't we look around a bit more?" You suggest, noting that the sun has yet to sink below the horizon. You still have some time. Sally thinks for a second, before nodding in agreement.

"Alright. There's still parts of the camp we didn't see, after all." She chirps, and the two of you make your way back the way you came.

As you walk, you scan the crowds and stalls, taking in everything you can. There are digimon making things, fixing things, weaving, putting up tents and mending holes. You don't know where to look after a while. There's just so much going on.

For a moment, you spot a familiar shaggy mane of orange, but then it's gone, into the crowd. Sally's glued to your side, her arms wrapped around one of yours, her eyes wide with interest as her attention flits from one thing to another. She points something out every now and then, but doesn't stay for long, always dragging you further into the crowds. The necklace you gave her bounces with every step she takes, and though it's a bit unorthodox, you're glad she likes it so much.

After a while of this, something catches your attention again; a familiar head of red, standing above the rest of the crowd, though no longer moving.

You decide not to look into it. Aslan and Zoe have their own things to do, and you have yours.

Instead, you continue to look around, scanning the growing number of stalls for anything that catches your eye. A couple of stalls are selling what appear to be clothes, not that many digimon can wear them. Some of the outfits look incredibly old, while others dangerously 90's-looking. How digimon got a hold of these, you have no idea. Sally seems enamored with one or two- what appears to be a japanese kimono ("Because it's so soft!") and a...

Is that a swimsuit?

What the hell is a swimsuit doing in the digital world?

you don't want to know. You don't.

You can't see anything you'd honestly want to wear here, but Sally's having fun looking at all the fabrics (which, admittedly, are quite beautiful). After watching your partner pour over the robe again, you decide you might as well try.

"Excuse me, " you say to the digimon running the stall, whose face you can't see, thanks to large bolt of fabric draped over it like a cloak. "Say wanted to get my friend here something; how would I pay?" The digimon looks at you, before shrugging.

"Bits, something equal in value, a favor... I'm not exactly drowning in customers." It finishes the sentence with a scowl, glaring at the rest of the camp's occupants. Apparently, fabric trade isn't very popular here.

You scratch your chin, thinking. You don't know what bits are, but you might be able to find out. It's unlikely the digimon knows just how old and rare the clothes it has are, so trading isn't outside the realm of possibility. Favors might be a bit tricky, but it wouldn't cost you anything material...you hope.

"Bits? Is that a..a currency, or something else?" You ask. The digimon nods under its cowl.

"Yeah. I don't know what you got, so I can't give ya any kind of equivalent, but how it works is ya got bits, and they're called bits until you get a thousand. Then you have a Megabit. Get another thousand of those, you got a Terrabit."

He points to his wares.

"I got a lot of this, and there's no real demand, so I ain't gonna be pricing things high. Say, a couple hundred bits each." You mull this over. Bits are measured in multiples of a thousand, so a single bit must not be worth a whole lot. Like counting the pennies in ten dollars. You nod thoughtfully.

"Alright, where can I get some, or is there any way to make some quick and easy?" The digimon hums to itself, stroking its....whatever is under its hood.

"Well, you could do some jobs around here, but I wouldn't recommend it. Everything here's mostly labor, and you don't look the type." You laugh sheepishly. He's kind of got you, there. "There IS another way, but it's risky."

You sigh. This was something you were afraid of.

"Let me guess...that game over by the tent?" The digimon nods.

"It's all about how quick your fingers can move, and the luck of the dice. You could make a killing there, since everyone would bet against you, but if you lose, you'd be in debt. And you have nothing to pay it off with." Its head looks to Sally, then yourself again. "Well, nothing I think you'd part with."

The insinuation doesn't go unnoticed, but you don't let the creature bait you.

"How are bits normally gotten, then? The money has to come from somewhere." You prod, and the digimon actually -shudders-.

"It's a nasty business, yes, but someone's gotta do it." For a second, you see an eye peer out of the hood at you.

"Bits are what's left over when a digimon's data is devoured."

Well...that's...

"That's barbaric."

"Maybe so, but like you said: money's gotta come from somewhere."

...What the hell have I been making my digimon do in World 2? It's Digital Devil Saga all over again.

We should check how much we have.
>>
>>30879887
We got the translation notes for it from Daniil, didn't we?
Don't think we need someone else to check it.
>>
So if I understand things correctly... the death of other digimon can either give you power (allowing you to evolve, like Aslan did)... or it can give you money?

>>30879914
Looked at from this perspective, it is quite disturbing, isn't it?

So we have some consensus of checking if we've got any bits, and if so how many.

>check digivice for balance

Alright, then. Okay.So their money's a bit grim. You can handle that. You think. Sally doesn't seem to have heard, but you're not going to assume so after all she's done before.

You pull out your digivice, ignoring the shopowner's look of surprise, and pull up the menus. Thanks to Daniil's cipher, you're able to read some of it well enough, and though it takes you a while, you finally find something that seems like it might...

it is.

Apparently, bits transferring to a partner's digivice is a thing. And you've got more than a few. A few being three megabits. Those ghosts and the bugs must have really added up. You grimace and show the digimon the screen, to which it starts to rub its cloth-draped hands together.

"Oh, someone's been BUSY, haven't they?" It asks, its tone sly. "To think someone so revolted with our system would be such an entrepreneur already, eh?" You resist the urge to glare at him, but allow him to press a few buttons, allowing a bunch of... glowing chip-like coins to materialize above its screen. You watch its hands, making sure it only counts out as many as it said, and pick out the kimono and the swimsuit, although the second is with a certain amount of trepidation. And anticipation, though you won't admit that out loud.

Sally squeals with delight when you hand her the robe, alone with more than a few items that go with it. You hide the swimsuit in your bag. The last thing you need is for your partner to want to try it on here and now.

So, you've discovered a new kind of currency, and how you acquire it. You aren't rolling in cash, but you've got...enough. About two and a third of a megabit.

What will you do, Wayne?

We should probably find someplace to watch the sunset with Sally before heading back to the group. Bonus points if we spend the sunset sitting next to her petting her black cat in our lap, making her purr.

>>
>>30881159
Thing is... where else would we buy something, before we have another fight (and thus get more bits)?
>>
>>30881344
We aren't loaded. After all the fighting we've done, we got 3000bits and the swimsuit alone cost almost a fourth of our funds, leaving us with roughly 2300 bits and the shopkeeper mentioned this was cheap.
Also, we don't do enough fighting to have a reliable source of income.
>>
>>30881516
If this is cheap, what else could we even buy later?
>>
>>30881552
I have no idea but that goes to show that a megabit is not that much money. In a previous post bits were described as pennies so 100bits is roughly 1$ meaning we had about 30$ to begin with and the swimsuit cost 7$ leaving us with 23$.
Like i said, we are not loaded.
>>
>>30881694
Why is it even called a megabit if it's just 1000 bits anyway? Can Japan just not into orders of magnitude?

I think we're just supposed to ignore the kilo- and giga- prefixes.

alright, after seeing the discussion going on, I'm gonna go with something different from what I was going to.

>see if you can do a bit more shopping now that you have some resources...

You've got money, and you're in a market. You don't know when the next opportunity to buy anything will come up, but you also don't know what there IS here.

You figure you could maybe buy one or two things if they cost a megabit, but what you're looking for will affect that. What do you have in mind? There's all kinds of stands and stalls here, selling all kinds of things. This seems to be the only one that sells clothing exclusively, and you're sure there should be some other specialized establishments...

>So, Wayne, what are you looking for? You can compile a list, and then try to find the things on it, or just wing it and see what you find. (will require a d20 luck roll.)
>>
>>30881828
A fucking map would be nice.

>>

>>

Or could our digivice handle that...

Maybe some book about history?
>>
>>30881947
No, a map of the digiworld.
Right now our digivice is just showing an extremely limited setup, so getting something better would be good.

More I don't want to be a hindrance if she needs to pick a fight. I don't want her to have to worry about protecting us and getting hurt as a result.
>>
>>30882145
I was more concerned with the mechanical benefit (ie, we get told we need to go to a place, OH LOOK IT'S RIGHT THERE ON THE MAP) but pretty pictures are always nice.
>>
>>30882145
Could also work on the map over the week, if that'd be more helpful?

We should make sure we have water and travel rations, since I'm pretty sure we still need to eat.

Thanks for running, Gale - today was fun, we got some meaningful way of reaching out to one of the big names in the digiworld, we're getting time spent with Sally, hopefully the others are also spending time with their partners... yep, today was good, allaround.

It's the same map, I just needed certain things to be, well, on it.

>look for a map

First and foremost, you need a map. Something up to date, hopefully. Something that will let you do more than stumble blindly around the digital world, following the instructions of whoever else you meet.

With Sally in tow, her new garment draped over her shoulders, you head into the bazaar, looking around. Maps aren't very common things, it would seem, but you don't doubt you'd be able to pick one out in this place.

It's about ten minutes into your search that you stumble upon a small collection of...things, tucked in between two stalls. The digimon sitting behind the pile, a...a pink mouse, with a very cartoon-ish face, grins a gap-toothed smile at you, waving you closer.

"Ah, you're one of the newcomers, eh? C'mere, c'mere. I got all kinds of stuff. You want a holy ring?" He holds up a small metal band. "I snitched it from the pumpkinhead yesterday. Keeps ya safe, ya know? Oh, or.." The mouse picks up a wooden pipe next....

Where the hell did he get a pipe from? Where does any of this come from, actually? You shake those thoughts away, returning to the matter at hand. There, int he pile, is a rolled up tube of paper. You point to it, and the mouse follows your finger to the item in question.

"Oh, you want that?" He eyes you and your partner curiously. "You guys lost or somethin'?" Pullking the paper out, he unrolls it to reveal...

A map of digiworld.

"Thing's useless to most of us, anyway. Who doesn't know where the dead zones are, by now? But I have ta say," He taps the paper with one yellowed claw. "whatever shit this is made of, it's good shit. It's lasted a long time, ya know?" His bigger eye narrows at you. "You want it, it's yours. But I'm gonna need some kind of payment."
>>
Well I'm off; thanks for running Gale.
See you next week?
>>
>>30883096
Yea- no. This guy is no where near trustworthy and I wouldn't put it past him to sell us a fake map. Plus we can probably get one from either Sanzomon or Gokuwmon free of charge.
>>
>>30883096
Yeah. Nah.
>>
>>30883096
I wouldn't buy anything from this guy.
>>
>>30883096
He holds out his hand. "Five hundred bits." You take a moment to mull the price over, but decide that knowing where things are is pretty much worth the price. If he's cheated you, you could always get Sally to-...well, maybe you shouldn't. You could buy it, and maybe look at the rest of the demented mouse's products, or you could try and find someone more...trustworthy, though this IS the only map you've seen since you even got here...

>what will you do?

>aaand the map was too big. I'll upload it to the twitter as suggested.

>>30882971
>>30883110
Hopefully, but I can't say for sure.
>>
>>30883288

First, check that what we know and what this map shows is exactly the same. If it is, buy it.

The guy might be, uh, well, like that, but if his map is accurate, I say we take it.
>>
>>30883288
[x] >>30883331
Compare his map to ours.
>>
>>30883385
Voting for this. The guy could just be neurotic.
>>
>>30883288

>>
>>30883288
and even twitter cannot handle how big my map is. Great. I just posted a link on the twitter, directing you to imgur.

>>30883331
>>30883385
>>30883439
You pull out your digivice again, this time pulling up the map to compare the one in his hands and the one on your device.

Things seem more or less the same, from what you have cleared out, but his version has the names of places, something that could be a great help.

You figure it's better than nothing, and hand over the necessary bits, which he snatches from you, shoving the map into your now empty hand with a cackle.

"Mine now, yours now! No refunds!"

You lift an eyebrow at his...mental state, but don't comment on it. He did give you the map, after all.

You stand slowly, and walk away, making sure the mouse doesn't leave your sight until you're well away from that part of the market. Sally follows you, glancing curiously from you to the mouse as you leave.

>There's still maybe a half hour of full daylight left. what do you intend to do?
>>
>>30883739
Find somewhere private with a view of the sunset.
>>
>>30883841
>>
>>30883841
This.
>>
There'll be time for buying later. For now, there's something you wanted to do...

You lead Sally towards the outskirts again, but in a different direction than where Gokuwmon led you. Instead, you head to the hills, leading your partner by the hand...er...claw. She looks slightly confused, especially when you pass by several hills that you find ill-suited for your purposes. It takes another couple of minutes, but in the end, you do find a hill you prefer.

Once you've reached the top, sit heavily, before pulling your partner down next to you. Her small yelp of surprise turns into a laugh as she realizes what you're doing, and rather than land next to you as intended, she maneuvers into your lap. The sudden weight-

You blink in surprise as you realize that Sally weighs a hell of a lot less than you thought she would. And that's not an insult- she weighs much less than anything her size should. You're tempted to comment on it, but decide to keep that for later. It wouldn't do to ruin a moment before it even begins... right?

Sally, oblivious to your confusion, leans back against you, much like she did at the river, except now her whole weight is on you. Her new robe is wrapped around her, much like her cape in her original dress, and she draws it closer around her...as best she can, anyway. Figuring you're not going to let her ruin the fabric just after you got it for her, you fix and straighten it on her shoulders, getting a grateful smile from the witch.

"Thank you." It's all she says, but you know she means it.

The sun, the only thing about this world that ever looked normal to you, is setting now, dipping below the crests of the hills. The sky, with all its colors is on seven kinds of fire, and for a moment, a single moment, the digital world is more beautiful than anything you've ever seen in yours.

"I think I like sunsets." Sally says softly, and you're compelled to agree.

The two of you stay like that until the last rays of flaming light are gone.
