It is the year 22XX and Humanity has reached the stars. Alas, even though they have attained the lofty goal of interstellar travel, mankind has yet to conquer it’s baser instincts.

Humanity is ruled by ultra-Corporations. Some own continents. Some own multiple worlds. But no matter who you are, everyone is a citizen-employee somewhere. The qualms that beset corporations of the past, copyright infringement, tech theft, still exist. If anything, they are amplified by the scale of the players.

Without government to turn to for legal recourse and separated by millions and billions of miles, corporations have turned to less savory solutions to resolve disputes. You are one of those solutions.

You are an elite mercenary, also known as a High Impact Public Representative, of the StrikeOut Company, a group of mercenaries who accept contracts and missions from the highest bidder. You are launched out of a spaceship in a drop pod filled with bright orange and highly toxic gel. You crash land into the target’s facilities, make a mess, do your job, and then get the hell out.

You are a Fall Guy. You are a Deniable Asset.

You stick your pistol out from behind the table waving it in the air. “Hold! Hold I say.”

The firing from the other side of the courtyard abates. Then a male voice shouts back in a drawl “What?”

You poke your head out before standing upright. You point at the ten gallon hat peeking form over the table. “You. You there, the filthy American colonial. I see you wield pistols.”

The ten gallon hat stands upright, sticking his thumbs into his belt and spitting on the ground. “What about it nancy boy?”

You chuckle, pulling out an embroidered handkerchief and examining it before speaking. “I propose a duel. A rare honor for one of my stature to deign to do so with a colonial urchin such as yourself. You would be advised to accept my most generous offer.”

The ten gallon hat steps out into the open. “Straight Shooter Tex.”

You snort. “It matters not. Come, let us make battle.”

The two of you step fully into the open, squaring off. The other two merc-idols are milling around behind their tables, too intent to watch the duel to worry about the now silent Simge.

You and Tex stare at one another. Tex’s fingers twitch. You squint through your monocle. A cool breeze blows across the courtyard.

Both of you go for your guns at the exact same second. Only, while Tex’s fingers found immediate purchase on his revolver, yanking it clear out of the holster, yours skitter across the grip, sliding completely past it and into your pocket. You watch Tex raise his gun in slow motion, a crowing smile etched on his face.
>>
A crack. Tex’s eyes go wide before he slumps to the floor, a perfect collapse.

Two more cracks. The last two remaining mercs fall to the ground as well. Your head jerks around. Simge is standing on the edge of the roof, her foot resting on the lip of the building. She is wearing an all too revealing straight jacket, her hands operating the sniper rifle through the long sleeves.

As you look up at her, mad laughter fills the courtyard.

The laughter abates somewhat as Simge- Vix- begins to hop from roof to window sill to window sill, down the exterior of the building. Eventually, she lands on the ground, cat-like, before standing upright and skipping over to the “dead” body of your would-be-duelling partner. Simge crouches over it and begins to poke at it with a finger. “C’mon,” she says, sounding like a warped child cajoling her father for a piggyback ride, “we all know you’re faking! Let’s do another take!”

>What does Lord John Churchill have to say to the mad woman who dared to interrupt his duel?
>>
>>30914282
I'm on my phone so can't really get too elaborate.

Ask her what possessed her to interrupt an honorable duel like that. Tell he we were quite capable of handling the colonial ourself.

"I say deplorable wench, I know your kind have no honor for the fight between two men, but to shoot him before even I, Lord John Churchill, could is quite the smirch on my impeccable honor. Perhaps it is time for us to part ways, before I treat you much the same as you treated the colonist"

Oh goddamnit. I just realized that I left out a big part of my part 1 post.

All your votes still count, and I'm still writing, but I'm going to delete those two posts and repost with the proper text
>>
>>30915150
In retrospect we should have asked her her preference. Ah well, tell her she can pick next time, assuming we survive and don't split up.
>>
You reach up with your hand and begin to twirl some of the hair on your moustache in an appropriately villainous fashion. Walking up to Vix, you look down at her, your face a mask of contempt. "I say deplorable wench, I know your kind have no honor for the fight between two men, but to shoot him before even I, Lord John Churchill, could is quite the smirch on my impeccable honor. Perhaps it is time for us to part ways, before I treat you much the same as you treated the colonist."

However, you offset your harsh patrician rebuke with a quick ping to her from your e-monocle.

>Seriously though, thanks a million. I just cannot do quick drawing today. Don’t know why I’m bothering

Vix rolls back on the balls of her feet, twittering with insane laughter. “No need to get angry Churchy! You don’t have to show off for the cameras! Just do what I always do and have fun!”

“Tch,” you click, removing your e-monocle and rubbing it with an embroidered handkerchief. “It appears you are in even less control of your faculties than I originally suspected. What cameras, girl? Never you mind. Clearly one of such a fragile state requires guardianship. Fear not, for I shall provide, as my gentleman’s duty requires.”

The two of you walk across the courtyard before you stop, looming over the last “living” member of the merc-idol squad you just faced. That one twin you hit in the shoulder or something. Without even glancing down at her, you deliver the finishing shot and keep right on walking into the building opposite of the one that you just left. Stepping into the hallway, Simge waits for Saul to give you both the all clear before pulling down her face mask. Her radiant smile is somewhat marred by the artful application of makeup, giving it a demented quality. “Guardianship? Nice cover Ivan.”
>>
You grunt. “Hey. I don’t know what got into me. Ever since landing I’ve been screwing up way more shots than I really should have. I think I might be more adrenaline powered than I initially suspected. This drop just lacks that life or death punch that gets me focused.”

Simge waves her finger chiddingly in the air. “Ivan, the mark of a truly great merc is the ability to deliver quality service regardless of the situation,” Simge pauses, before putting her hand up against her face in a stage whisper, “but I can totally see where you’re coming from there. I have trouble taking these sorts of missions properly seriously myself.”

You nod, rubbing the back of your head. “Yeah yeah. I think that’s it. Just need to get into the zone or something.”

Simge smiles and nods before Saul reappears in both of your HUDs.

“Alright everybody. Simge, Ivan, I expected a slightly better combat performance out of both of you, although Simge, that four shot hat trick you managed was a good recovery. Ivan, I just need you to get in the zone man. Your acting is actually pretty damned good, you just need to follow it up with more… umph.”

You nod in sheepish concurrence as Saul keeps on speaking. “Anyway, I’ve got two squadrons of merc-idols nearby you two. You can stay together or split up, either one works for me. I’ve got one group in the robotics lab, a bunch of techies and hacking nerds. They’ve got quite a few nasty little turrets and combat bots set up. Meanwhile, I’ve also got the entire cheerleading entourage currently wandering around this building’s main hall. Your call.”

>Which one does Ivan pick?

>Fight a bunch of cheerleaders

Hey Fall, just a suggestion for the future (though I doubt this will happen again). If you're reporting revised story posts, you might want to stick a little disclaimer at the top so people catching up in the archive don't thing their missing something and know why the vote's already been locked in.

“Cheerleaders,” you blurt out, the response entirely involuntary. Simge rolls her eyes and arches an eyebrow.

“Can’t say I’m surprised.”

You chuckle. “Hey Simge, there are dude cheerleaders too. And those guys are usually built as fuck. It’s not like you’re totally losing with this deal either.”

Simge looks thoughtful for a moment before nodding. “Good point Ivan. Good point.”

“Besides, better than whatever the robotics team would have on display, right?”

Simge concurs and the two of you begin to follow the map on your HUd towards the entrance hall. Eventually, Simge stops before a large set of doors. “So these are the stairs to the second floor and the observation deck that’s around the hall. I’ll go up there and scout the area out, provide overwatch fire support.”

You nod and Simge leaves up the stairs. After a few minutes of waiting, she pings you.

>okay, on observation level. 5 girls, 4 with ARs, one, i think leader, with pom poms. Two males. Big guys. 1 has LMG, 1 has… a flame thrower?

>Not much cover in hall, unsurprisingly. A lot of blind spots due to some support pillars though, but nothing really near your set of doors. You might need to improvise something. about 10 meters between your door and first line of pillars.

You look around for improvisable materials. There are some locker doors and classroom doors nearby. Considering the low power of the rounds, You imagine they could hold up under anything but heavy weapons fire.

>plan the attack sucker.
>>
>>30915679
Tear one of the entrance hall doors off its hinges and carry it like a shield.
>>
>>30915679
Just burst through the doors spraying assault rifle fire willy nilly, making them drop while making a villainous speech.
>>
>>30915707
That sounds more like "Mad Jack" than our Gentlemanly persona...not coming up with a better idea, just annoyed that we're going t take a hit for our acting.
>>
>>30915679
Actually, why don't we just walk in making a villainous monologue?

If we get shot we can just go to Mad Jack.
>>
>>30915729
I guess I'll second this, since the other two seem a bit wild for us in our gentlemanly persona.
>>
>>30915679
Well, as our persona states, we have to make our presence known in a gentlemanly fashion. Nix should be set up or finishing setup as we do this. If it seems like they will try and fire at us, that when Nix "blows" her spot with a laugh and a shot. This should provide time to get to the nearest pillar. Once there, aim for the LMG guy to get rid of the heaviest weapon their.
>>
>>30915801
sounds good
>>
>>30915679
Remove a door as our shield. March in there talking loudly about how a gentleman must be a shield for those he is responsible for.

Use the assault rifle and attempt to close the gap. See if Simge can't hit the guys with the heavy weapons, or at least keep them pinned until we've gotten to better cover.
>>
>>30915679
>>30915679

introduce ourselfs and begin villanius speack while calmily walking towards the pillars

let them talk a little and say whatever lines they have prepared, when we are near a pillar say we are tired of this charede and attempt forehed shot nº2 while asking for singe to take out flamer guy if possible....

of course if they start shooting as soon as they see us fall back and grab a locker door while cursing about how uncivilized they are
>>
>>30915679
We can either let simge start shooting first in order to thin them out a little and distract, or barge in spew something to distract while she thins them out that way, if their eyes our on us and not looking at each other, if we can find a reason to fire our pistol up in the air as we talk simge might be able to take out the ones from the back on every shot we fire, still keeping them distracted while taking them out, not too sure how we would play this off or if it would be considered honorable, we'd have to find some way to twist it..
Another idea is if Saul would let us turn into Mad Jack offscreen to make it appear as if there were in fact 5 mercs attacking, and later reveal that Mad Jasck and us are in fact the same guy, this would allow us to do dirtier tactics, we'd have to ask Saul first though.
>>
>>30915833

take the oportunity to rub it in thet we killed a bunch of their friends and that we are not impressed by the school "spirit" shown to us up to this moment

Let's take her out first.
>>
Alright, seeing a plan of action form here.

+walk into hall, begin to talk about school spirit
+if they do not open fire, approach while they are distracted, attempt to close and get into cover behind pillars, Have Simge snipe heavy weapons guys to start things off.
+If they simply open fire retreat and grab door to use as cover before attempting to close once more
>if possible shoot pom-pom while she's in the middle of her intro
>shoot heavy weapons guys with AR if not already down

>Alright Simge. I’ll do my entrance. Wait for them to be properly distracted, then try to bring down heavy weapons guys. Are you in position already?

>No. Entrance Hall is live film zone. Can’t enter without going into character. Need them distracted otherwise position totally given away.

You nod. Makes sense. Pulling out your assault rifle, you roll your shoulders back and push open the door. The Cheerleaders look up at you in feigned shock. As expected, pom-poms steps forward to the head of the group. Clearly the leader. Before she has a chance to speak, you begin to monologue in earnest. “Typical of your common educational facilities. A group dedicated to maintaining school morale. At Saint Griswold’s Preparatory, we needed no such organization, for pride and loyalty and duty were never in question.”

You spread your hands out as you walk forward, continuing your speech. “Yes, that is the difference between one of my station and the teeming masses. Alas, considering the pitiful fight your classmates put up, it seems that you have failed to instill any sort of spirit in them at all-”

You would continue speaking, but at that point pom-poms points at you wrathfully. “Spirit Elite! Scorpion formation! Let’ show this jerk some real school spirit!”
>>
You yelp and hop backwards as the cheerleaders open fire, running a zigzag pattern back behind the doors you came out of. In the distance, you can hear Vix laughing. “Filthy plebiscite commoners! No respect for etiquette or manners! I was a fool to think otherwise,” you curse to yourself as you remove a door from it’s place on the wall, grabbing the handle as if it were a shield. Taking care to ignore the camera drone floating around your head, you charge back into the entrance hall once more, this time with your impromptu tower shield. glancing through the glass window, you note that the male cheerleader with the LMG is down for the count, although it seems as if Simge missed her first shot.

Bellowing something along the lines of “A gentleman must always be ready to take up the shield to defend his lady,” you rush forward, firing madly with your assault rifle. two more of the cheerleaders go down under the hail of bullets from your weapon. Pausing, you attempt to reload, when you feel some sort of hot force push back against your door-shield. Returning your attention to the battle, you see that the male cheerleader with the flamethrower is sending a jet of flame into your door. You snarl as the gout of flame pushes you back a few inches, you boots sliding across the floor. The other two cheerleaders, under the direction of pom-pom, have Vix pinned down, peppering the pillar you presume she’s bunkered down behind with assault rifle fire.

You snarl and begin to push back against the jet of flame. Although the thing is probably burn-safe pyrotechnics it’s still coming out of that flamethrower with incredible force. Still, your enhanced muscles are there for a damned good reason and soon you’re the one moving forward, your voice coming out in an involuntary guttural growl. As you push forward, the growl grows louder, until you’re roaring with the exertion of pushing back the gout of flame. However, eventually you close the gap, and you unholster your revolver, knocking off two quick shots at close range. The male cheerleader collapses over, red spurting completely unrealistically out of his wounds.

You cast aside your scorched shield just in time to see Vix snipe another of the two Assault rifle toting cheerleaders. The two remaining girls stare at you in horror as your face contorts into a mask of fury and bloodlust. Your trembling hand reach to your side, where the handle of a tomahawk pokes up out of your belt. Just before your finger touch it however, you stop.

Straightening up, you push your hair back into shape. Coughing into a closed fist, you pull out your handkerchief and wipe away some of the sweat on your brow. “My apologies dear ladies,” you say softly. “A gentleman should never lose his cool under fire.”

Raising your fists into a boxing position, you stare at pom-pom. “Now that it’s just you and I, what say you to a sporting round of fisticuffs my dear?”

Pom-pom is about to contradict you when there is another crack from a new angle. Suddenly, she’s the Captain of a squad of one.

“I am Lord John Churchill. You may address me as Sir or Milord. What pray tell, is yours?”

Charge, Faint and counter!
dodge her atack and follo up with 2 gut punches, when her head goes down we put it back up with a thundering upercut!
>>
>>30917537
Start off with a few jabs to see how well she dodges, start mixing in straights and see if we can back her into a wall. If she doesnt know what she's doing, lay into her (careful to keep it acting and not beating her to death).

If you can work in a Demsey Roll, go for it.

Alright, seems like we're going for this:

>a few practice jabs to get a feel for her style
>feint left
>Deliver two quick blows to the stomach
>begin to beat down, albeit carefully, with straights and some more jabs
>Guard and doge any surprise attacks from her end.
>send a few real punches into the scenery to give the audience a sense of danger
>Wrap it up with a "cold clock"

“Well Churchill-”

Pom-poms doesn’t have time to finish her introduction as your fist sails across the room, connecting with solar plexus. The blow is more of a push, one accentuated by her own legs propelling herself backwards and up, until she’s bouncing back across the room, coughing and spluttering as she tries to regain her breath. You frown. “As I said, Sir or Milord. Must I instruct you of your place, urchin?”

Pom-pom get’s back up, snarling. “You’ll pay for that you crazy asshole.”

You simply sigh and shake your head as the two of you engage in hand to hand in earnest. A few quick practice jabs to test the waters. Pom-pom is handicapping herself slightly, trying to dodge your blows as closely as possible. You figure that you could probably sink a really good hit on her while she’s doing that, but that’d only be a one time trick. No, you need to land a decisive blow.

Remembering to keep up your showmanship, you let one of the blows she narrowly avoided continue on into a pillar. The tiles shatter and explode outwards into dust and the support strut bends from the force of your blow.
>>
Pom-pom’s eyes go wide in genuine shock. You chuckle and feint to the left. It’s an obvious maneuver, but she’s distracted by the crushed pillar, so she falls for it. Your two fists collide with her stomach, nothing more the light love taps by your standards.

You jump back as Pom-pom doubles over, clutching her abdomen. You made sure not to break anything, hopefully God didn’t decide to shit on you an rupture any of her organs. That would be awkward. You contain a sigh of relief as Pom-pom rises to her feet, coughing up a horrendous amount of blood. She’s fine, you didn’t hit anywhere close to her lungs. Concealing your amusement at the theatricality of it all, your fists are back in position and the two of you begin to box in earnest.

A few of Pom-pom’s punches get past your defenses. They hurt. A lot. Especially because it’s pretty obvious that those pompoms she’s carrying are concealing some sort of brass knuckles or some other contraption like that. Grunting from the pain of the blows, you counter with your own rejoinders. The two of you exchange punches for a while, you taking care to block her blows with your guard. Eventually, Pom-pom’s blows begin to falter and weaken and slow. The girl is tiring.

Chuckling to yourself you straighten up slightly. “Well my dear lass, this has been quite the enjoyable affair, but I’m afraid I have pressing obligations elsewhere.”

Pom-poms eyes go wide immediately before falling shut. The girl collapses onto the ground, completely undone by your savage cold clock. As you step away from Pom-pom’s prone form, Vix starts laughing again, as she hops down from her place on the second floor observation deck.

“You see, you see? I didn’t interrupt that time! I was a proper lady!”

Would probably work better than "gentleman". We should ping Smige to exclaim that she wants to be "a gentleman like you!" instead, so we can politely admonish her and bemoan kids these days not understanding propriety.

>>

"Lessons" in nobility that lead to gentlemanly fucking, Vix being unladylike so we turn into Mad Jack and savagely fuck her while she's laughing, LJC using gentlemanly discipline and spanking to correct Vix, the possibilities are endless.

You laugh in what you believe to be a fatherly fashion. It’s certainly the same sort of indulgent laugh your dad used to give you, albeit much more British sounding. You pat Vix on the head, ruffling her hair with a free hand. “Very good of you young Miss Vix. Perhaps with some Finishing School we can make a proper lady out of you yet!”

You begin to walk on ahead, Vix following at your side, chirping about some of her more impressive headshots and how she wished her facemask was off so she could smile for the cameras. The two of you eventually leave the filming area, where Simge swats you on the back of the head, albeit playfully. “I am already a proper lady, thank you very much,” she huffs. The effect is ruined somewhat by the smile she fails to suppress. The two of you detour for a second into one of the classrooms, in fact a hidden away break room for merc-idols and yourselves. You nod briefly at two merc-idols, both in school girl uniforms not unlike the ones that the Himawari Force were toting prior to their defeat. You sit down at one of the desks and begin to down another mug of coffee, while Simge peels a banana.

Feeling bored, you access the kill counts to see how you’re stacking up in comparison to the rest of the mercs.

>Simge Atlar: 7
>Ivan Kostov: 7
>Choi Lei: 13
>Valerie Frazier: 23
>>
“Shit,” you grumble, looking at the score count. “Simge, we’re not doing so hot. Tied for last.”

Simge shrugs neutrally as she takes a bite of the banana. “Well, it’s not like we’d be beating Valkyrie in kill count,” she responds around the mouthful of fruit, “and Take Out might screw around a lot, but he’s still really good at his job.”

“Yeah I spose,” you concur grudgingly. “I dunno, I kinda thought this mission would be a bit more of a cake walk.”

Simge swallows loudly. “Eh. I mean we can’t possibly get killed right now. I’d say that makes it a pretty easy drop right? Just need to stay positive!”

You smile, the moment of bitterness passed. Simge’s right there with you in terms of kill count and you don’t see her bumming out. “Yeah, yeah you’re right Simge.”

You are about to say more when Saul flashes up on the whiteboard, staring at you two. “Alright you two,” he says, visibly excited, “Your friend Valerie is going to be extracted soon. She’s gonna wipe out our entire cast if this keeps up. I want you guys to fill in for her, sort of like an out of the frying pan and into the fire sort of deal. It’ll be really really dramatic. The audience will think that their trials are finally over, and then suddenly two more enemies will appear! It’ll be great. Head over to the area I’ve marked on your map now, and really put some thought into how you’ll be doing your entrance. Maybe something in tandem even.”

With that the blackboard reverts to it’s usual black boardy status. You and Simge glance at each other before getting up and filing out into the hallway. The two of you nod in acknowledgement to some of the defeated cheerleaders, returning for their well earned rest.
>>
>>30920201
>Valerie Frazier: 23

Jesus Christ, she's gone Grit Mode.
>>
Hurrying along to the designated area, you and Simge find yourselves standing in a classroom, looking out onto a devastated parking lot.

Valkyrie is standing in the middle of the destroyed asphalt field, carrying an absurdly large machine gun of some flavor and in an incredibly skimpy merc-idol uniform. Taking care not to openly drool, you cough into your hand and focus instead on your prospective opponents. They look pretty badly beaten up already, although none of them are down yet.

“-ahahahaha! I was wrong to say that you weren’t worth my master’s time. You’re not even worth my time, worms! I cannot bear to look upon such pathetic, miserable eyesores any longer! I can’t even bring myself to blot you out from this existence we call reality!”

You watch in fascination as Valkyrie hops onto an incredibly stylized HOEV and leaves the battlefield. Either SpaceHeart*Love had a HOEV on hand that just happened to match Val’s outfit, or the woman can supply her own damn HOEV on command. Slightly in awe at the lifestyles the Senior mercs must lead, you need a firm shake from Simge to get your head out of the clouds.

“Ivan,” she hisses, “That’s our cue. Do you have anything?”

>Grand entrance!
>You can either just do one for yourself, but a tandem entrance with Simge will lead to bonuses on your mission comp modifier

You turn to face Simge and begin to mutter your entrance idea to her. After a few seconds of plotting, she nods. “Better than my idea, which was nothing whatsoever,” Simge replies with a smile. “Let’s do it.”

You are now Ando Noboru, merc-idol and designated delinquent protagonist in the five person action-comedy crew. For a while you thought the producers had screwed you guys over. Sure, your crew had fallen slightly in the popularity polls recently, sacrificing your place as second most popular merc-idol team to the MoeMoeKawaiiUguuDesu~ Force, but you didn’t really think that the producers would have been so willing to shitcan you guys just like that. You walk over to Jessie, your designated tsundere love interest, and help her to her feet. Your efforts are rewarded with a predictable muttered “idiot…”

Although Saul hasn’t given you the all clear yet, you’d still like to celebrate your survival with your fellow crew members. Pushing some loose hairs from your pompadour back into place, you slide your e-sunglasses on and quickly ping everyone.

>Awesome job guys. Told you the producers still wanted us. That Banshee Bitch was just a fluke.

Al, the designated Fat Comedy character, replies first.

>Yeah, Think so. Still, close call.

Mikiho-chan nods, pretending to be conversation with Jessie.

>Im not sure that were safe yet. From what Ive heard from other mercs, Banshee was set to wipe all of us out.

You scowl. This sort of negativity is exactly the kind of thing that you personally think threw off your mid-season dynamic, allowing those stinking ador-fucks form MMKUD~ Force to surpass you all in ratings. Still, all of this is academic, you survived the Banshee, you’re safe.

“...come now Miss Vix, a proper lady needs to give off a proper first impression, and how you introduce yourself is vital for such things.”

A mumbled response and the male voice replies slightly louder. “But you must! Otherwise how do you hope to find a man of suitable breeding and estate? Here, let me show you.”

A man with the most impressive muttonstache you’ve ever seen walks into the parking lot, carrying an ornate assault rifle. He bows, doffing his hat. “Good day peasantry! I am Lord John Churchill, a man of impeccable breeding and estate, an accomplished soldier and student of philosophy, and his Majesty’s humble servant. Today is an auspicious day for you! For today I shall deign to take your lives.”

Before you have a chance to respond, the girl in the straight jacket giggles loudly. “Ooooohhhhh Sir John! The viewers at home will just love that!”

John Churchill sighs, rubbing his temples. “Really now young Miss Vix. This is not a game or jest. This is no farce for the entertainment of the common people, this is a hunt!”

And with that, Lord John Churchill fires his assault rifle, hitting Onizuka, the last member of your five man crew, squarely in the center of his forehead.

Yes, Yes, Yes
but only if it would be "in character" with her persona
>>
“Onizuka-san,” you cry in fury and anguish, only some of it feigned for the camera. Even if you survive this fight, there isn’t too much hope of the producers retconning it so that your compatriot can survive the finale to join you in the second season of SpaceHeart*Love. You turn to face this Churchill character, a manly tear sliding down your face. “Now you’ll pay,” you snarl, pulling out an assault rifle and sending some of your own shots down range. The Vix girl pushes Churchill clear of your bullets, instead taking the shots on her own shoulder and collapsing into the ground.

“Tch,” Jessie mutters as she pulls out her own sniper rifle, “you need to work on that aim, dummy.”

Before you can reply, you hear something strange from Churchill. You turn to look at him once more, and your eyes go wide.

Alright, so the next section will be written from the perspective of Ando Noboru.

However, we all know everything he does is basically fucked, so what's the point of coming up with a plan of attack for him? None whatsoever.

As such, give me a plan of attack for Mad Jack, and give me some awesome things he can bellow/do while we're at it.

Again, we are voting to determine what Ivan/Mad Jack will be doing, and this will be seen from Ando's perspective.

Churchill is crouched over the body of Miss Vix, as he called the girl, muttering something. Eventually, he stands up, and turns to face the four of you, his face contorted in fury and despair. “How… how ungentlemanly it is to strike a woman observer when a man stands here before you and presents himself.”

Churchill looks away from you and at Miss Vix’s body. He continues speaking, but more softly now, and you have to strain to hear his voice. “But it is even more ungentlemanly to allow a woman to make such a noble sacrifice. I have failed."

As Lord Churchill says the last sentence his voice changes and warps, becoming deeper, more guttural. The last word is more of a growl than anything else. Your eyes widen as the growl continues, growing louder and raspier until it’s more of a roar. You take a step back, slightly horrified, before gritting your teeth around the butt of your cigarette. A true delinquent never retreats from his enemy. At least, that’s what your character would say, and you’re not about to break that.

“Everybody,” you cry, shouting to cover up the tremble in your voice, “Let’s stand to together and avenge Onizuka-san!”

The chorus of yeses is drowned out by the rumbling roar from the opposite end of the parking lot. “Filthy plebiscite worms! You dare… dare… I’ll rend you down! I am Mad Jack and I will tear the meat from your bones! GUT YOU LIKE THE FUCKING PIGS THAT YOU ARE!”
>>
File: 1395193029879.jpg-(63 KB, 600x438, Watch the FUCK out.jpg)

63 KB JPG
And then he moves. He moves fast. Faster than any human should. Any human could. Any human can. He hurtles across the parking lot, closing the distance in less than a second.

Fast.

Too fast.

Your eyes barely register the movement of his legs as he propels himself into a flying jump kick, firing his assault rifle in mid air. One moment, the four of you are standing ready to fire. The next… Mihiko-chan is gone. Just gone. And Jessie is lying on the ground, blood pouring from bullet wounds.

Some small part of your mind knows that you all have fake blood packets set up for this exact sort of thing. That part of your mind is shouted down by the storm of animal terror thundering in your head.

Mad Jack glances at you. Glances at you like a predator considering it’s prey, before leaping onto Al and tearing into him with the tomahawk. Blood and guts fountain out across the ruined parking lot and the blade trikes home again and again. A bit of red splashes against your face and you collapse to your knees. Al topples over, a massive gorey crater where his stomach used to be.

Mad Jack straightens up.

Red drips from his tomahawk onto the ground.

He turns to face you.

Teeth bared in a psychotic smile.

“Please,” you whisper.

“No.”

You black out just before the axe buries itself in your sternum.

Hey, Fall Guy, how would these guys stack up to real mercs on a really real battle? Is there some potential in any of them? And since a good portion of them likely have no more careers in entertainment, is it possible to pick up some legitimate recruits?

>>
>>30923159
How would you feel about an "Ivan reading a Vix/Churchill slashfic" fic?
>>
>>30923393
Hmmm. I'll do this in order.

>how would these guys stack up to real mercs on a really real battle?
Poorly. They've basically gone through an incredibly elaborate kabuki show of basic training. The ones who don't wash out today will get something much more like what you went through in StrikeOut's Boot Camp before the second season begins.

> Is there some potential in any of them?
Yes. They all have the potential to become at the very least competent mercs.

>is it possible to pick up some legitimate recruits?
Dying today isn't a career ender for them. Just a stumbling block. Some merc-idols actually have made a career out of just being season one fodder, to serve as an antagonist or supporting character to the more popular merc-idols who then get fragged at the end of season one.

Since you've asked, I'd like to pose a question to any anons still ITT. In the completely hypothetical situation where StrikeOut hires a defeated merc-idol, who would you want it to be?

>>30923430

"slash" serves as s synonym for "shipping," however its usage is normally connected specifically with fanfiction. One may *ship* fictional characters, then go on to *slash* them in fanfiction. Of course, I assume you know what shipping is...

Huh, I wonder why Anon wants her so bad...
http://www.mspaintadventures.com/extras/ps000034.html
>>
>>30923665

Definitely her.

Would be thoroughly amusing if she ends up being a rookie that looks to us for guidance when she recognizes us (or even specifically applied because we impressed her). Maybe even a little upset at first, but we drop with her on a mission and she gets to see the real Ivan.

Could end up kind of like an adopted daughter/mascot/whatever we watch out for, since anon expressed interest in protecting that little girl we saved in that nightmare mission.

Except this little girl isn't so little. And she has those thunderti...yeah, she's different, sorta.
>>
>>30923826
Welp, that's all more than I knew anon.

>>30923837
>>30923832
Hahahaha It really seems like the Himawari Force became popular for some throw away characters.

I might offer something like a cast aprty after the mission is over, maybe then I'll have Sniper "Megane", Thundertits, and that other one we've all forgotten, ask Valkyrie if StrikeOut is hiring, and she'll refer the decision back to Ivan since he fought them.
>>
>>30923858
Yeah Thundertits as a gun caddy
>>
>>30923784
Fuck, I meant Meganneko, IE a Glasses Girl in anime. There's a thing on tvtropes about it.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Meganekko

Megane is the genderflipped version.
>>
>>30923893
Even better Thundertits as our 'real' gun caddy
>>
>>30923885
Soo we could eventually end up as her Valkyrie?

I'm game.
>>
>>30923893
Let's call the forgettible one "Tomboy".

I can't wait to see Niels face when he learns that there's going to be a Action Anime Reality TV Team joining StrikeOut. Things in his love life with Tsukino will likely heat up...
>>
>>30923893
>I might offer something like a cast aprty after the mission is over

That sounds awesome, I'd be all for attending it, especially if they have good food. At the least, get to see if any of the "washouts" might actually be serious about turning merc rather than the idol thing.

Definitely all for talking with Himawari Force at that time. For a set of throwaways, they were more memorable than our other opponents so far.
>>
>>30924010
Yep, we should totally bro it up with Valkyrie and talk to them and give them advice
>>
>>30923966
>Soo we could eventually end up as her Valkyrie?

Just. As. Planned.

Mwahahahaha.
>>
>>30923966
We can't, anon.

When a woman aggressively pursues and sexually dominates a man, it's funny/hot.
If Ivan did to a woman what Valkyrie does to him, it would be in poor taste.
>>
>>30923893
You know, Bitter Prophet ended poorly, but everything up to the critfail made it one of my favorite missions so far. I don't understand why people hated it so much. I can't tell if anon hated the type of mission, the ending, or the length of it. Considering that it went about as long as the other missions, that shouldn't be a problem. Your writing is consistent; though you said you don't like horror, the atmosphere turned out right. Was the ending really enough to offset three threads of good survival-horror?
Mostly addressing other readers here, though your thoughts would help.
>>
>>30923893
Don't forget we somehow need to steal a classic Merc-Idol uniform (slight preference to cheerleader since we actually fought them) in Val's size before we leave.

...and perhaps another in Elda's?
>>
>>30924060

You forget the part about Ivan intentionally seeking out Valkyrie. Ivan may have been sore after, but he knew exactly what he was getting into, and I'm certain he could have bailed if he said the word.

Likewise, if the rookie does the same thing with us, it's really hard to say it's in poor taste when they specifically go looking for the end result. These aren't little kids, they are mercs once on the Brick, and as such are adults.
>>
>>30923966
Call it a hunch, but I think Valkyrie's going to end up as her Valkyrie.
>>
>>30924060
It was more in reference to how Valkyrie seems to be something of a mentor figure to Ivan outside of sexytimes
>>
>>30924097
yes
>>
>>30924074
Bitter Prophet represented a major tonal shift from what had been happening in DAQ up until that point. It also suffered from a lot of railroading in thread one, and in general I guess could be described as "harrowing" to write, as much as writing a make believe on story on 4chan can be anyway.

I guess the problem was it was three threads of small failures and lack of progress which wore people out since it represented like a week and a half in real time.
>>
>>30924074
For me, I didn't like it because it was a vastly different tone and type of mission and for what we accomplished, which would have been all of 2 hours realtime, it stretched on FOREVER while playing it out in the threads, also the roll just kept getting worse and worse, culminating in the crit fail, so the dice gods didn't just made things worse
>>
Rolled 7, 2, 2 + 3 = 14

>>30924074
Yeah while we may not have had the favor of the Dice Gods for that mission it was enjoyable.

Maybe somewhere down the line when we have another merc-idol quest. The set area comes under legit attack by a hired strike unit; Ivan and co are forced to go on the defensive and either hold long enough to evac the idols or neutralize the strike team.
>>
>>30924097
YES

WE MUST DO THIS
>>
>>30924185
>so the dice gods didn't just made things worse
didn't help and just made things worse*
>>
>>30924097
Definitely one for Elda.

We might want to get a classier one though. She might take it really bad if it's really pervy. We just fixed that rift, we don't need to make a bigger one.
>>
>>30924175
How much do you know about theoretical future tech energy storage?
>>
>>30924152

>>
>>30924146
>It was more in reference to how Valkyrie seems to be something of a mentor figure to Ivan outside of sexytimes

Agreed. Not that Ivan would turn down sexytimes with a rookie who knew what they were getting into, but the intent is primarily one of mentorship, I think.

Ivan's relationship with Valkyrie, sex aside, is one primarily of someone less experienced getting advice, friendship, and help from a veteran who has agreed to mentor him (she said herself that it was unusual to talk so openly with a newer merc like Ivan).

I could see Ivan mentoring a rookie that struck his fancy, kind of like how he tries to help Niles with his romantic endeavors regardless of how hopeless Niles can be sometimes.
>>
>>30924240
I'd like to widen her rift, if you know what I mean.
>>
>>30924277
my vote for it was more for getting a skimpy cheerleading outfit for Valkyrie, although we could get something classy for Elda too
>>
>>30924272
Little to nothing. I imagine most of the properly high-tech storage will be in the form of super-capacitors or something. I was researching this a few months ago, and forgot most of the shit I figured out, so I don't honestly know. Something about carbon nanotubes probably, since that shit can do everything.

If you happen to know a lot about the subject, check the email field
>>
>>30924060
Just... read up a bit, anon. There's lots of ways to handle that sort of thing in fiction. Besides, we're in the space future, where current standards regarding sexuality may be radically different. That may make the whole thing better or worse, depending on character reactions and how it's played off

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SexualHarassmentAndRapeTropes?from=Main.RapeTropes

For instance, what happens if *she* pursues Ivan, and he's uncomfortable with being pursued by a younger woman?
Or how about if Val tries to get in her pants (skirt?), and she comes to Ivan for help?
Can you imagine if it were both at once?
That would be one hell of a... uh... "love" triangle.
>"Ivan, my love, we must abscond before that Valkyrie harlot can steal me away!"
>"Uh"
>*door pounding*
>"YOU'D BETTER OPEN UP IVAN OR THIS FADE TO BLACK IS GONNA BE MESSY"
>"UH"
>>
>>30924187
I'd like that. One of the Idoru mercs has an extraction job placed on her, so we have to rally a bunch of tween idols and actors and make them into a combat capable fighting team. It could also be the pitch of a mercenary based reality TV show.
>>
>>30924382
Not nearly as much as if I was an Electrical Engineering major than a Materials Sci Engr major but I'll give you what I can.

Really depends on if they've found something that exhibits room temp super conductance. If they have shits gonna get real.

Also particle / energy weapon anon I have been very, very lazy.
>>
>>30924240
Seconding something classier for Elda, but we should probably wait until after she does her first Merc-Idol R&R mission.
>>
>>30924559
That's okay anon, we all got shit to do. Even if said shit is just binging on Bravely Default as I am prone to.

I think greater than room temperature super conductivity is possible, but the technology hasn't been rolled out very far yet, and as such is still pretty rare.
>>
>>30924631
Bye OP. I'm off to bed. thanks for running tonight.
>>
So if we recruit Thundertits, and we get another Merc Idol contract, can we drop in Thundertits as a villain to fight her best friend?
>>
>>30924631

Quick drawfag question before you pass out. How big is Ivan's bitchin' tat? I figured it would be most of the fore arm, but thought I would double check.
>>
>>30924791
and then she goes through the classic best friend turns evil arc and turns out she was brainwashed and her best friend must save and redeem her
>>
>>30924797
probably half of forearm or so.

rearchiving because /tg/ is going at a blistering speed tonight.
>>
>>30924590
>Seconding something classier for Elda, but we should probably wait until after she does her first Merc-Idol R&R mission.

Definitely something a little classier.

We should also wait until our relationship with Elda is a little better defined (and definitely wait until after she trusts us enough to explain a little further about why she went weird on us). Could really hurt the friendship otherwise.

I'm personally of the opinion that while she's a great friend and trustworthy merc to trust our life to, she may not be the best for us if we are looking beyond that. I get the feel she's a walking minefield from some past emotional trauma, but maybe that's just my paranoia talking.

If we were on more friendly/romantic terms with Tsukino (and our pal wasn't so stuck on her), I'd be all for getting an outfit for her, however. That would be a riot, seeing how flustered Tsukino could get.

>Thundertits put up the least impressive performance of all of them

I can totally see Val pulling Ivan aside and telling him that given "thundertuts" performance it's pretty clear why Ivan recommended her. Then once we start sweeting let out a hearty laugh and tell him he has good taste, but she had to recruit the rest of the squad to make the hire look legit. Val totally has our back for inappropriate hires...so long as we have hers.
