Welcome to Academy City. The time is early afternoon, the weather is interrogative and the date is August 2.

You are Kyril Torikov, ‘Level 2’ Telekinetic Child Error, and you are currently in a Judgement office. It’s not that you’ve been arrested and being sat down for interrogation. Anti-Skill were the only ones with the legal authority to bring anyone in to custody. Sitting across the table from you is Kudou Asuka, a Level 4 from Tokiwadai that also happens to be your special someone. The cause of her glare is sitting some ways off explaining to her superior why she is using a book as body armour.

“You know, I do not actually know where to start,” Asuka sighs, “Half of me is relieved to know that you will never have eyes for another woman but the other half is despairing at the fact that you would rather have your eyes on men. I do wonder what this says about our relationship, and your words to me. Whatever am I to do?”

Being overly dramatic is totally her style but Asuka has some legitimate issues as well. You wonder how much trouble you’re going to get in to the future thanks to Nunotaba’s usage of your likeness. First things first however, you must assuage The Dictator. How do you explain to her that you look like a character in a homoerotic work of fiction?

“You do realise that it is a work of fiction right?” you start off.

“Well yes,” she answers uncertain of where you’re going with this.

“And do you know when I found out about this? That was two days ago, which was basically one week too late. I expect to see another edition starring my friends in the new few days.”

Your frown of course indicates that you weren’t exactly happy about the whole state of affairs either. Asuka lapses back in to her own thoughts, mulling over something only privy to her minds.

“If it makes you feel any better, I’m being paid rather generously,” you inject levity in to your voice, “and by generously I mean I am not being paid at all.”

“This is bad,” she barely whispers.

“Say again?”

“This is terrible,” Asuka continues to talk to herself, “If the Queen knows, no, she probably already does. It may be too late. We’ll have to avoid her, but how?”

She looks up at you. You’re not sure you’ve caught everything she muttered but it seems to be quite important. Getting up slowly, she walks around the coffee table until she faces again you. Her hands grab your collar and closes in until your breath is exchanged with her.

“Kyril Torikov, you will ignore everything the Queen does to your mind,” she says.

You feel her Ability take hold in your mind and you are powerless to resist. With that she seems satisfied.

If anything, you’re really curious about her power. How does it work and will it really protect you from this ‘Queen’ person?

“Really, what was that about? Who is the Queen?” you ask.

“An underclassman,” she replies quickly, “I am just making sure that she cannot use you to get through to me. It would be a terrible thing if she were to try and recreate your youthful indiscretion.”

“So I’m safe?”

“I should hope so. Why do you think I do not fear The Queen?” she doesn’t give you much time to ponder, “I hypnotised myself to ignore her after all. It follows that you are now as immune as I am.”

“Then thank you,” you finally say.

“You’re welcome.”

She returns with a quick peck on the cheek. However as she does, the door to the office slams open. In walks The Railgun and her posse consisting of her teleporting lesbian fangirl called Shirai and Uiharu. You’re pretty sure Asuka wasn’t really surprised by their entry as she was finding an excuse to jump in to your lap.

“Argh, is nowhere safe?” Shirai grumbles.

The Railgun seems more embarrassed at the sight of the two of you whilst Uiharu looks on scandalised. Your afternoon can only get more interesting.

Enough of that depressing stuff, you think. It’s time to do something fun and light-hearted, something that could put on Asuka’s face. You recall her saying how fun it is to drive Shirai up the wall thus that is what you’ll be doing.

“Oh Asuka,” you start with a glint in your eye, “I’m not sure what you mean when you said The Queen has a that kind of inclination.”

Asuka is quite content to follow your lead, no doubt expecting some large payoff.

“Well it means that the fruit she seeks is forbidden.”

“You’re going to have to spell it out for me,” you feign ignorance.

“Oh Kyril you brute, are you asking a Lady like me to explain such a vulgar subject,” she acts scandalised.

“If you two are going to flirt then please at least have the decency to do so in private,” Shirai cuts in.

She then teleports Asuka off you and you cross your legs as quick as possible. The Railgun seems to be repeating a mantra of, “I’m not jealous, I’m not jealous,” over and over again. Uiharu looks on with continued interest. Kaoru and Konori only turn around for a moment.

“Shirai-san please, we were having a conversation,” Asuka continues unperturbed, “I know manners are sometimes hard to follow but you know at least that much.”

“By the way, did you actually get to read Kaoru’s book?” you ask Konori.

The station chief turns back to her subordinate as Asuka gets up to come to you again. With a small mental push, she stumbles forward. Getting up, you catch her and lean in for a kiss.

[1/2]
>>
>>30938101
Thus you spent your afternoon riling up Shirai. It was amazing that you weren’t asked to leave immediately though. Konorii was apparently chastising Kaoru about the possession of “pornographic” materials and was being quite adamant that she was confiscating the book. You’re also pretty sure she really appropriating it for her own use.

The time is now evening, the weather is warm and the date remains unchanged.

There was likely an hour and a bit before your guest arrives but you could probably afford to take Asuka out for dinner. Then again you didn’t want to keep her out too late due to curfew.

With the way the day has been going you’d still like to spend a little bit more time with Asuka and decide to have dinner somewhere close. Conversation is light and you two spend most of the time simply enjoying each other’s company.

Of course the both of you also mull over the issue of Big Spider. It seems that August 4 was going to be your deadline so if you were going to personally dismantle them as a Skill-Out gang then tomorrow was your safest bet. Konori had outline three bases that Big Spider used in the past. Whether they were still being used presently of course was another matter. You also regret not having asked Konori more about her connection to Big Spider but you suspect it was highly personal.

“I admit that this is bigger than two of us can handle in a day,” Asuka points out, “We cannot destroy them all one by one without attracting some kind of attention.”

“So we have to hit them all at once huh? I wonder if Sparky is up for a fight.”

“I am positive you can bait The Railgun in to a fight but that would still leave one remaining location.”

“We don’t necessarily have to attack it,” you suggest, “Showing that we can reach out and touch them is a pretty powerful message, especially when they’re already marked for death.”

“Quite,” she acknowledges, “Still this is something we can worry about tomorrow.”

[1/2]
>>
>>30939240
There is also the option of sending the cops after them.
>>
>>30939240
You walk her back to her dorms after settling the bill. Your arms and fingers are entwined as the cool night air blows.

“You know I am looking forward to tomorrow,” she leans in closer.

“I imagine that sleep would be quite difficult,” you answer.

“It will not be an issue,” she answers, “All of this makes me glad for all the choices I’ve made so far.”

“I could say the same.”

“I wouldn’t regret if we made it more,” she pauses before finally saying, “official.”

You were the one who took the first step after all. Despite the minor issues you think she’s finally accepting your relationship instead of just going with the flow.

“Kyril Torikov, I love you.”

Those words, those three simple words, they’re the kind that anyone would love to hear.

Actions speak louder than words, so as you had stopped to face each other, you kiss her quickly again.

“Love you too.”

That was your reply before you steal her lips again. This time it was deeper, with more meaning, with more feeling. It was strange how those words could make everything else better. Pleasurable yet somehow intimate, that was how you’d describe it.

“Ahem,” Aneue’s voice interrupts.

The both of you had arrived at the dorms without realising it. It’s not like you wanted to shy away from the staring and the gossip. Quite the opposite, you felt like you wanted to shout it out to the whole world. Too bad they’d probably shout back, telling you to shut the hell up because they needed their beauty sleep.

“While I do appreciate bringing Kudou back before curfew,” she cracks her knuckles, “I do hope that making out in front of the dormitory does not become a habit.”

“Of course not,” you grin goofily, “Oh my look at the time, I best be off.”

Then you bolt. Asuka was one thing but Aneue was another and you’d rather not associate your first love with spinal chord injuries. That you also had a prior engagement was also another reason. With enough speed your sprint should take you back to your dorm in time to meet Savin.

You make it just in time to see a young man, presumably Middle Eastern, ringing your doorbell.

“Hey,” you greet him breathlessly, “Sivan right?”

“Good evening, I presume you are Kyril Torikov.”

“Yeah sorry I’m a bit late, wasn’t really paying attention to the time,” though you’re not that sorry.

“There are no problems as you have arrived promptly,” he answers simply, “I simply wish to drop off my luggage before beginning tonight’s hunt.”

You unlock the door and let him in as well.

“If you are worried that we may have to share a bed then do not do so, I shall return in the morning after you have awoken to rest,” he then notes the random cloves of garlic, “Prudent of you to take precautions.”

It was probably a good idea to take advantage of having a vampire hunter to answer all your questions. If he left you’re not sure how many opportunities you’ll have to talk to him.

“If vampires are a thing,” you start, “How much of the myths and legends are true?”

“They weren’t myths or legends. They are stores of knowledge transmitted orally,” Sivan replies as he unpacks the small bundle he carries with him, “Nowadays they also serve as a weapon against vampires. I’ll spare you the theory but the myths have codified their weaknesses, most of it will work, doubly so if you’re Christian. Garlic is good, keeps them away.”

“So if I hung a few crosses, kept some silverware and stuff like that I’d be fine?”

“Against Christian vampires yes,” he answers, “There aren’t too many other types and the majority of them are Christian anyway. Most of them burn well in the sun and to fire. Decapitation also works.”

It’s here that you note that he hung his bundle of items from his bardiche. The pole arm looks well used.

“If you should meet one that can walk in the light of day then you must absolutely run. They are those that have the greatest and most esoteric of powers.”

“Do you mind if I went with you?” you ask next.

“No, but know that your life is not my responsibility.”

You retrieve your jacket and follow Savin as he walks out.

“Just to be clear, I’m not following, I’m thinking of getting some items to secure my room with.”

“I do not think convenience stores will sell real silver or a proper holy cross,” Savin nods as you both exit the complex, “My advice? Get a hose, maybe an aerosol spray and a lighter.”

With his words said, Savin heads off in the opposite direction. You make it to a nearby convenience store and stock up on supplies, specifically some oil-based bug repellent and some materials to fabricate a makeshift torch as well as a lighter. You had plenty of matches but there was no sense in being cautious. The lighter was quicker. You also pick up a first-aid kit. You never know when you’d need it.

Purchase completed, you think that’d be the end of your day. However, on your way back to the dorm you came across a group of thugs surrounding an old man. They were the kind who probably knew the area well. Working at night they preyed on new and lonesome faces. There was a vampire in the city and these fools were up and about accosting old men. Hell the old man looked like he could be a vampire. He was casting a shadow though so it didn’t seem likely. The point about the nights being unsafe still stands though. You move to break it up but one of the thugs stops you first.

“Back off punk, this ain’t none of your business.”

Double negation aside, you get the gist of what he was trying to say. Simply put he told you to back the fuck up. If he thought he could scare you away then he had another thing coming. Besides his buddies were busy with the old man so it wasn’t like it was an unfair fight. He was bigger and bulkier but you had TK, a great equaliser as you’ve learned.

Then the sounds of a struggle started forcing you to drop you bag and blasting the thug back. Stumbling back he flew in to the arms of the old man who simply clapped his palms over his ears, dazing him. A short kick sent the thug to his knees as the old man pulled his head back and struck downwards with a snapping left. The thug was put out like a light.

“Thanks kid,” the old gentleman brushed himself off, “I needed a distraction.”

He gives you a funny look as you process his words.

You reply that you aren’t with nod.

“Well then if this seems too stupid or sudden just stop me, but I’m looking for a vampire,” your silence signals for him to continue, “Her name is Reina and she’s my wife.”

“Was she kidnapped or something?” you ask.

“No, she just got up one day and left. She didn’t even leave a note. The clues point to Academy City though I am not sure why she would come here at all.”

“What kind of vampire was she?”

“By contemporary classification she would be a Christian vampire as she hails from a Scotland. But if you’re asking about her personality then I would guess that she was quite docile, having sampled most of what the world had offered by the time she was three hundred. When blood transfusions became a thing she moved on to those as a food source instead of preying on humans.”

“So saying that you find her, what then?”

“Well if I can we’d go back home in the Caribbean and live peacefully and in seclusion in the Bahamas or maybe we’ll take a vacation in Tibet first. Who knows really,” Teacher shrugs, “You’re not curious about me?”

You shrug in turn. The thought did occur to you.

“Well if you really want to know I’m not a vampire, I’m not a vampire’s thrall or her servant in anyway shape or form,” he pauses before adding, “Being a husband does not count and if it does you should break up with your girlfriend. Technically I am simply a man with a lot of time on his hands.”

We may be able to resolve this peacefully if he meets his wife. Unless plot requires her death.

Likely, Kyril doesn't have a Harem Core, it seems.

Isn't Deep Blood the chick who makes vampires crazy for her blood, or am I remembering that wrong?

You don’t see a reason to refuse.

“Alright, I’ll help.”

“Great,” he claps you on both shoulders, “Whenever you’re free tomorrow just give me a call.”

He then hands you a business card. It contains his contact information. The name on the card was strange in addition to his title of Teacher. The unusual combination of characters only befuddles you as he walks away with a casual wave. Seeing as you really didn’t want to be out too late, you too return home.

Episode 20 End. No interlude tonight chaps, early day tomorrow. We resume Friday.

Big Spider. Now we strike back at Skill-Out. What is Teacher’s name? When writefag and /tg/ meet the story begins.

Hope you enjoyed this one.
