It is the year 22XX and Humanity has reached the stars. Alas, even though they have attained the lofty goal of interstellar travel, mankind has yet to conquer it’s baser instincts.

Humanity is ruled by ultra-Corporations. Some own continents. Some own multiple worlds. But no matter who you are, everyone is a citizen-employee somewhere. The qualms that beset corporations of the past, copyright infringement, tech theft, still exist. If anything, they are amplified by the scale of the players.

Without government to turn to for legal recourse and separated by millions and billions of miles, corporations have turned to less savory solutions to resolve disputes. You are one of those solutions.

You are an elite mercenary, also known as a High Impact Public Representative, of the StrikeOut Company, a group of mercenaries who accept contracts and missions from the highest bidder. You are launched out of a spaceship in a drop pod filled with bright orange and highly toxic gel. You crash land into the target’s facilities, make a mess, do your job, and then get the hell out.

You are a Fall Guy. You are a Deniable Asset.

“Yeah. I’ve reached a decision. Listen you three. I’ll second you into StrikeOut-”

The rest of your words are cut off by squeals of excitement and/or terror from all three girls. Slightly concerned about what you’re getting them into you raise your hand for silence. All three comply. “Alright. Like I was saying, I’ll second all three of your applications to StrikeOut’s basic training program. If you can hack it through that, you have the capability to be a real merc. If you can’t handle it, you’ll wash out faster than you can blink. They don’t force anyone out. People will just leave.”

Miyuki looks nervous, Chisaki excited, and Hikaru determined at your words. All three nod. “That said, I’m really pleased to see that you’ve got the guts to ask for this. You’ll be trained under the best instructors in Human Space. Shit, I might even volunteer to do a CQC course for you guys.”

You pause for a moment and reconsider. “Actually you know what? I will do a CQC course for you guys, since you were brave enough to ask nicely.”

There’s a moments pause before all three girls cheer again. You’re pleased to see them so happy when suddenly you notice two very large things headed in your direction. Before you can say anything Miyuki has you quite literally smothered in a fierce bear hug. She holds you in place for nearly a minute before releasing your head. You inhale deeply desperate for air. Miyuki looks confused for a few seconds before blushing scarlet and bowing before you. “I… I…”

Who knows, if the three girls do well in StrikeOut's basic training, word might filter back that Ivan took them under his wing and is making them into real mercs.

If she gets tired of the idol thing, she might very well reach out to us at some point and ask for the very same favor.

You inhale deeply once more, your lungs luxuriating in the flow of oxygen. “Welp, at least we’ve managed to figure out your signature attack.”

Miyuki’s face only grows more scarlet, which prompts a bit more teasing from you. “And now your face is going the color of your hair.”

Miyuki makes some sort of “eep” sound, which only triggers an outburst of friendly laughter from you. You pat her on the shoulder. “Hey now, I was only teasing. I’ve got a more serious question for you though. The LMG… Something tells me that you weren’t the one who made that particular weaponry decision?”

Miyuki shakes her head, hair bouncing from side to side. Something else bounces from side to side too, but you decide that it would be crass to pay too much heed to that. “No, a producer suggested it to me. Something about maximizing appeal.”

“I figured as much,” you mutter. “So is there any other sort of gun you’re more comfortable with?”

Miyuki frowns. “Not really. I guess the ones with high recoil make certain... parts of me more sore.”

“Well, I’m sure you’ll find a more comfortable weapon during basic that addressed your particular problem,” you say smiling reassuringly.

Miyuki nods and blushes slightly, looking down at the ground. Just then a question occurs to you and you call out to Hikaru. The bespectacled merc hurries up to you, pushing her glasses back into place. “Hey Hikaru,” you say voice light and curious, “I gotta ask. I thought you made it to the next season of SpaceHeart*Love. A future as a merc-idol. But you seem to be the one leading your friends to StrikeOut.”

“Why would I do that you ask?” replies Hikaru as she adjusts her glasses. “Simple. They are my friends. I will not leave them behind like that. We will succeed together or fail together.”

Handgun might be good, perhaps a medium caliber.

Maybe she might do good with a grenade launcher, something similar to a M79? Single shot, and she could carry several types of grenade.

I would stay away from anything that fires rapidly, probably not a whole lot of fun for her, bra or not.

Hah! Well, we could even turn her into Aphrodite A, but that would ruin a great bust.

Maybe she could carry a rocket launcher that is shoulder-fired instead, that way the recoil isn't thumping against anything sensitive.
>>
>>30947893
A minigun might also be a good option. Flamethrowers as well.
>>
>>30947794
SMGs and basic ARs would be fine low recoil weapons, in the kind of enemies SO employees face, a good handgun like our Model 223 would send Thundertits' tits to the moon

Get her a pair of good SMG's to use or alternate with and she'll be set
>>
>>30947794
>>30947893
Launchers and recoil-less rifles are something to consider for her.

>>30947967
A flamer could do as well, but man portable heavy weapons like a minigun won't work well without either supporting armature and light exoskeleton or heavy augmentation. Bullets are heavy and the expense of carrying enough to feed such a high R.O.F. weapon isn't really justifiable at the rookie level.

>A minigun might also be a good option.

The whirring/vibrating of the minigun might get uncomfortable for her, so I'm not sure that's ideal. I figure anything with a high rate of fire will make her sweater puppies sore after awhile.

Flamethrower might be interesting, although I would venture that it's best for someone who likes close up fights and is at least somewhat crazy (aka PURGE THE HERETIC)

She might look impressive as a Battle Sister, but I dunno.

“That’s good. Good attitude to have when you’re in the shit together.”

Hikaru smiles, apparently pleased at your praise. “Thank you sempai,” she replies, smiling. “I believe that a true leader must always be ready to support his or her comrades.”

You smile back at Hikaru. Girl shares a lot of your ideals about merc work. “That’s excellent to hear. Just remember you won’t be a squad leader for a long time. I’m certainly not one yet.”

“You aren’t?” Hikaru asks, looking puzzled. “I believed that you were somewhere in your fifties. I thought the rookie comment you made earlier was an exaggeration.”

“What? No way. I’m not even thirty years old yet. Still a baby.”

Hikaru looks surprised. “Well I uh, I’m only twenty three, I didn’t think we’d be so close to each other.”

“Yeah,” you say, eyebrow rising. “Yeah, no. No I’m still just a rookie. This is what, like my fourth mission? On top of a few years as a combat techie? Seriously, I’m not really anything special.”

Hikaru gasps. “So this is the difference that proper training can make… incredible.”

At that point Choi Lei swoops in, suavely offering to give Hikaru some advice from a more experienced mercenary. As the bespectacled former idol wanders off with your megane-loving comrade you scan the dance hall once more, taking a sip from your bottle. Simge and the delinquent leader seem to have gone missing. You’re slightly surprised. He was decent looking, but you figure Simge could do better. I'd like to hear that bit of backstory. Besides, Val can get us to do the Naked Mattress Mambo in a FTB.

"Well Val, I know the mission wasn't enough of a challenge for you, but we did get some excellent loot out of it."

Have a conversation that slowly devolves into constantly escalating innuendo.

Find out what her drink of choice is then, if we can't hit the dance floor, abscond with her at the appropriate time.

Chisaki's the only character we haven't interacting with in a significant fashion, and it isn't like we haven't already have a lot of interaction with Valkyrie anyway.

Thats kind of the point.

I'd rather do something besides "the usual", since we have a chance here, and I'd rather not squander the opportunity.

We can talk with the Himawari Chicks on the flight back to the base easy peasy.

Fall Guy and Merc Command are two separate QMs. Fall Guy ran a quest before this one, called Obnoxious Ghost Quest under the trip SpiritGuided.

That's the same name as his IRC handle if ever you're in the hugbox.

The point isn't the amount of interaction, tho - its the quality.

Also, if you're that dead set on the anime waifu, dance with her (she's an idol, she can pull sweet moves), just to make val jealous, before swapping partners to her.

Accomplishes both things, also potential for much amusement comrade

You decide to get acquainted with the last member of your recent recommendations, and wander over to Chisaki, who is determinedly pounding down as much of the free alcohol as she can lay her hands on. You like the cut of her jib. You flag her down before she leaves on yet another booze run.

Chisaki turns around to face you, the pink of drunkenness suffusing her features. “What’s up boss?”

“Nothing much Chisaki. Was wondering if you had time to jaw.”

Chisaki grins. “I got plenty of time to jaw with a guy like you. What about?”

You begin to lead the way back to the bar. “Just curious. Was wondering how the Himawari Force was assembled.”

“Huh. Pretty cool story I guess,” Chisaki replies as you both take a seat at the bar. “We didn’t sign up together you know? We all applied separately to be merc-idols and stuff.”

“So people can apply in teams?”

“Oh yeah,” confirms Chisaki, slurring slightly, “Most do in fact. We were a bunch of morons for not doing so in the first place to be honest. Really hurts your chances otherwise.”

“I guess you guys teamed up pretty quick then?”

Chisaki takes a long drag from yet another beer. “Yeah. It was the first school festival they called them. People could register in teams or they could be randomly matched up. I was the one who started it all up actually,” Chisaki points to her chest proudly. “Everyone thinks it was Hikaru, but they’re wrong, it was me.”
>>
“Oh?”

“Yeah. I was the one who first suggested the idea to Hikaru. She’s too proud to admit she needs help most of the time, and Miyuki’s too damned shy to ask for it. So I had to be the one who started it all. Hikaru could do the long shot competition, I could do the obstacle course, and Miyuki could do the public appeal portion. We were a perfect team.”

You snort. “I can see the logic behind putting Miyuki up as public appeal.”

Chisaki pouts. “Yeah I guess. Seems all guys are about are huge breasts though.”

“Hey that’s not true,” you protest somewhat guiltily. “Asses are pretty great too!”

Chisaki beams at you. Rather she beams at an area of space a few inches to the left of your head. “Thanks Ivan… You’re a nice guy, you know that? I didn’t think we had a snowball’s chance in hell when Hikaru said we should ask the guy who beat us for a recommendation.”

>Anything Ivan wants to say?

“Yeah well,” you say, looking back at the bar, “You’re not quite in just yet. There’s just one last thing I need you in particular to do.”

Chisaki gives you a look that conveys a strange mix of suspicion and excitement. “What?”

“Drinking contest.”

The two of you knock shot glasses together and down the first shot in tandem. Chisaki wobbles and immediately faceplants into the Bar. You wince and pull her upright. Poor girl seems to have fallen completely asleep. You help carry her out of the bar and wait with her outside in the cold night air while a medi-HOEV arrives, carrying her away to make sure nothing worse than a punishing hangover befalls the girl. The urge to party completely driven out of you by the necessity of caring for another drunk, you flag down your limo and order him to take you back to the hotel suite that Love Wetworks Limited put the four of you up in.

Taking care to abscond with all five bottle of champagne hidden in the mini-fridge you return to your suite, where you collapse on your bed, quite tired. You send in a special order for two idol uniforms to the LWL tailors. They already had Valkyrie’s sizes on hand. Elda’s you had to guess on. Pretty sure you got them wrong, but those merc costumes are pretty stretchy, so things should be fine.

Satisfied by your day’s work, you kick off your shoes and fall into a deep, peaceful sleep.

Did Simge lose waifu status?
>>
>>30951757
Simge is no waifu anon, Simge is brosis, Vix is Lord Jack Churchill's waifu
>>
>>30951757
Smige, and probably most of the seasoned merc women, is looking for some action but not anything resembling a serious relationship with a coworker. They're too used to fellow Mercs dying to want that. So Smige never had waifs status, she had friend-with-potential-fun times status, and she still does.

>>
>>30954526
Just to be clear, what exactly do you mean by "waifu" in a future of casual relationships and fleeting hook ups?
>>
>>30954863
Considering how much that axe is an extension of Ivan himself, that's like saying Ivan should waifu his right hand. Which I'm sure he does on occasion, but it's more of a business transaction that any emotional intimacy.
>>
>>30954870
Kill her so she can never be with another.

>>

And I want everyone whining about waifus to leave the quest forever and I think that's more likely to happen when Fall Guy reasserts "no long term relationships among mercs."

>>
>>30955010
I really want to push the Simge thing since based Drawfriend said he'd be doing a picture of Ivan and Simge in costume
>>
>>30955025
...yeah, but that's just bringing her into our spcircle of friends and having excellent sex with her from time to time. The waifuing you're talking about is between Ivan and Smige's characters, which is probably more likely to persist next season if Ivan and Smige don't waifu each other.

I want more of Drawfriend's incredible work especially on of Val in the costume we got her but I don't think that's a good reason for trying to force a relationship that but it's nature and the nature our mercenary work cannot be rushed.

Mercs generally aren't built for stable relationships, you know?
>>
I really loved this mission. If we get the opportunity to make another appearance, the Himewari girls can play as servants for us and Lady Vix. There is a virtually inexhaustible supply of material here. School trip to the countryside? LJC and Vix in tweeds for pheasant hunting or pinks for fox hunting (Vix's outfit obviously will be worn incorrectly or in some disrepair). Girls as meidos, game-keepers, etc. Beach episode? LJC and Vix in a sailboat armed with harpoons, girls as sailors. Mountains? Alpine gear, girls as sherpas. I could go on and on. We should consider negotiating, through the proper channels of course, some sort of long-term contract with the idol company.

This assumes the Himewari girls make it through basic, or stick around long enough for us to do another merc-idol mission.
>>
>>30955171
I agree with you, but I feel like longer term monogamy might be possible anyway. Clayton can clearly manage it. Besides, when you are slated to literally live forever, 20 some odd years of monogamy is like a drop in the bucket
>>
>>30956073
While I don't disagree with you, I thought that Clay was shacked up with a non-merc. Look, I'm not against monogamy per-say, I just don't think it's appropriate for a young merc like Ivan and I don't really see any of the available female StrikeOut members we've met (unless you want to NTR Niels) as interested in long term commitment. Now, I could see that spchangingnafter a few years of close friendship and great sex, but I don't se Smige or anyone else from the corp shacking up with Ivan anytime soon. If you want something resembling a traditional courtship, theirs always that nurse or our HR officer, both of those seem less into taking huge risks and having a constant flow of adrenaline. On the other hand, neither of them are augmented, so we'd have to play very tame with them...
>>
>>30957473
Agreed. Lord only knows what sort of long term relations the various women in our lives are into anyway. Since I seriously doubt that megacorps are particularly interested in enforcing a single idea of marriage pluralism is probably the order of the day.
>>
>>30957473
I concur. I know FG has been considering the possibility of a time skip so we can get through a few months worth of boring/repetitive missions without having to go into detail about them. That might be a good way to cement our relationship with the other mercs, both in a romantic and/or platonic sense.
>>
>>30955012

Not the same anon, but I guaranfuckingtee the waifufags that ruin other quests are in here.
>>
>>30958372
Ruin how?
>>
>>30958372
Probably, but I want to see how they react when it turns out that they can't find a virgin (except Neils) or any woman interested in a committed relationship.
>>
>>30958541
I think there's probably a girl interested in committed relationship out there, but based on the world FG has created, there not a chance in fucking hell that we'll find any virgins. Everyone is like mid to late twenties at least, and the DAQ-verse seems to have much looser sexual moors than RL. We won't be finding any virgins.
>>
>>30958471
In my experience when complaining about waifu fags people are talking about one of two things:
1. Romance/funtimes getting too much screen-time (their definition of too much may or may not be reasonable)
2. The sheer poisonous atmosphere that inevitably occurs when you ask many different people to all agree on a single girl.
>>
>>30958471
There's two major threats waifufags pose to a quest, and I'm not too concerned with one of them.

1) They end up redirecting the focus of the quest to romance and doing various things with their waifu. I don't see this being a likely problem, since FG doesn't much care for writing stuff like that.

2) They create a toxic atmosphere when people start arguing over which girl the MC ends up with. FG has a lot less ability to control for stuff like that, and that's what I'm personally worried about.
>>
>>30958593
>2)
I think FG's willing to ignore outright stupidity. As for the toxic atmosphere, suddenly the waifu's in question will be happily seeing other people and gone on long missions. He has enough flexibility to let things happen or not deal with them without breaking the universe.
