You are a witch; a full blooded broom flying, potion making, spell cast witch. Well sort of, you would be one if your master hadn't gone and ditched you, so technically you’re just an apprentice witch for the moment and fairly young as well, Sixteen years-old. You never learned anything big but your master taught you enough to get by, some potion making, some small curses, and a few minor spells. All this wouldn't be so bad if it were for the fact that you are currently resting in the town’s jail-house and are scheduled to be burnt at the stake tomorrow.

You lived on your own away from town just to avoid this situation but that didn't help. How they figured it out you’ll never know but you guess it’s for some stupid reason anyway. Well that doesn't matter any more, you got caught and now you need to escape.

But, first things first,

>Mildred it is

As you sit on your makeshift bed you think about how you're going to get out of this mess. You are then interupted by a large clack noise coming from the cell door, standing there is one of the guards eyeing you.

"So, you're our new guest for the time being huh, Mildred, what a fitting name for a witch" When the word 'Witch' leaves his mouth he spits a little.

"I was my fathers choice" you state simply

"Huh, an't that so.... What's a pretty little thing like you doing in the business of witchcraft?"

"Nothing really"

The man stands in front of you glaring and you notice the key hanging from his belt, maybe this is your way?

Wait for him to leave, then while no one is looking call upon our magic to turn into a bat, or other small creature that might fly out the barred windows or crawl out of our cell.

Also you say witch, can we summon lesser daemons to make deals with? Or are we female warlocks or what?
>>
>>31044355
Well right now we are pretty noobish so daemon summoning is a little far off but possible

Is a witch just a female arcane user here?
Are 'dark magics' and 'pacts' involved?

As the man stands there you turn your head and look him right in the eye, at first he try's to hold your gaze but soon he looks rather uncomfortable. Finally he can't take it any more and his eyes drop, he raises them a second later to find you looking at him even stronger. This causes a look of horror and disgust to spread across his face and he quick turns and walks away, you hear him mutter under his breath "Fucking witches"

Heh, your master always said you have the best evil eye. Now that the he's gone what next?

I would say both, you can use magic's and at the same time daemons and dark pacts are very much real. Also, most of the time spells with be book learned unless you can find someone to teach you, book learning will take more time and effort but you can do it by yourself

You decide that you better try to find a way out other than the front door, it's probably magic resistant anyway. Standing up and stretching your legs you examine the room, there isn't much here but then a sparkle catches your eye. After closer examination there seems to be a trap door underneath the bed that leads to the sewers. This might ruin your dress but you don't want to mess with that guard so using a rock you smash the trapdoors lock until it breaks. After waiting a few moments to see if the guard noticed you open it up and drop down into the pale blackness. The tunnel leads in two directions, north or south, which way?

From what you could tell in your cell it was early morning and you allows spooked that guard pretty bad so you guess they won't notice that you're gone till tomorrow, enough time to get to your place and get out before you get caught. Lifting your dress you spirit south. After a while you reach sun light and (thank god) fresh air, hiking a little bit you get to your home, or what's left of it. It seems that when you were captured they also set fire to your hut, all it is now is a smoking husk. Moving some rubble out of the way you find the trapdoor leading to your basement. Thankfully they seem to have missed that. Opening it up you drop down and are met with soft light from magic candles. Now what to take.

Scrolls.

If only because taking everything seems like too good to be the best answer. We can gather more ingredients later, the same with buy/make/steal potions.
>>
>>31045159

Over the years you've imported some pretty high end scrolls so you make those your top priority. Hastily grabbing your shackle you stuff it full of the scrolls
+3 scrolls fireball
+1 scroll of thrunderstorm
+1 scroll of shapeshift
+1 scroll of waterbreath
(Scrolls usually have a time limit of about 10mins unless they're insta castes like fire ball)

Also knowing the trip is rather dangerous you slip two potions of health into shackle and get ready to go but before you leave you take a candle and throw it at the wooden table in the middle of the room. If anyone's burning your stuff it's going to be you, not some priest with a fire fetish. Once out of the secret room you look up to the sky, seems to be mid day. That should be enough to get to town.

>Return through the sewers

The best plan for now is patience and avoidance.
Someone might be attracted to the fire, or perhaps the guards are more vigilant then we thought. Even if they are looking in the sewers, I assume the confined spaces will make them assign less people there then the open city and whatever gates or roads it has.
>>
>>31045472
>Return through the sewers

Knowing you're in a pretty tough spot right now, head towards the sewers again but that doesn't mean you're going to like it. After running a bit you come acroos the trapdoor you escaped from a few hours ago, it looks the same as you left. That's a good sign, you must have spook that guard really badly if he's missed you by now. Continuing on you eventually end up outside and right in the middle town. The sun seems to be setting so you should be less noticeable but the guards are going to take more notice of you. Gathering your courage you head out into the city.

Knowing that you probably stick out like sore thumb to don't try to test your luck at the front gate. Instead you head towards the docks, there maybe you can find some safe passage. While walking through town you get a few glances but nothing to serious other than mild curiosity. Once at the docks you can tell that the fisherman never sleep, even thought the sun has set there's still a bundle of activity going on. Looking around you you see a medium cargo ship being loaded, hurrying over you ask the man directing the everyone around if you can board. He eyes you suspiciously "and what would a pretty thing like you want to be a ship for?"

Wanting to get out of sight as soon as possible you hurry down to the room the Ship captain gave you, inside you find a bed big enough for one person, a small writing desk in the corner, and closet aganist the wall. Simple yet inviting, guess it's better then nothing. You land with a soft thud as you jump onto the bed, staring at the celling you chuckle to yourself, that was a close one. Note to self, never doing that again.

As you lay there you hear a soft knocking on the door, lifting yourself up you see a young boy about your age standing there. Around his neck hangs a neckless with the symbol of the Imperial church on it "Hello there, my name is Rupert. I'm your neighbour so it seems"

"umm nice to meet you Rupert, I'm Mildred"

He tilts his head in slit confusion "Mildred... That's a nice name"

You sigh "My father picked it out"

"Oh well, what can you did. I couldn't help over heard that you're also a student of the church, I would like to work with you in the future"

"Ya, that.... would be nice"

"Oh I didn't mean to bother you, you do seem tired so I'll leave you to rest" With that Rupert bows and leaves

Well things just got a little more interesting, sighing you slump back down exhausted. Shortly after closing your eyes you start to drift and soon are sound asleep.

I think I'm going to cut it off for tonight, I'll pick it up tomorrow

After a while of blissful sleep you feel a wave of heat wash over your face, opening your eyes and adjusting to the light you see the morning sun shines perfectly through the port hole into your face, typical. Whatever, raising up from your bed you feel like you can take on a hundred paladins and live to tell the tale. Well I just that's what happens when you manage to escape your own death. Anyway time to get moving. What do you do?

Getting out of bed you head over the closet, opening it you find a change of clothes meant for man, well I guess it's better than this filthy dress. After putting on the clothes and finding out that they fix decently you ascend top side. Once there you find that the town is nowhere in sight, you smile to yourself, you can only imagine the faces of the towns folk when there's no witch for their fun. Breathing in the fresh air you look around seeing the captain near the steering wheel with other crew men working around him, you also see Rupert stand and looking into the distance. What do you do.

After standing around a little bit you decide that you should get more info out of the captain, heck you were in such a hurry that you don't even know where this boat is going.

As you aproach the Captain looks over and smiles "Morning sleepy head, you where so worn out that you missed most of the day"

"Running from your own doom will do that" you think in your head

"Hello Captain, how are you?"

"I'm doing ok I guess"

"Hey Captain, I was woundering, where is this ship going?"

The Captain looks at you and breaks into a laugh "You're a funny Lass you know that, well right now we're heading for the port town of Byhollow"

"Oh" Good that should but some distance between you and the witch hunters "Also captain, is there anything I could help out with?"

The Captain thinks for a second "Well you don't seem to be the brawny type some I guess you can help organize the supplies below deck"

With that you thank and leave the Captain

After hear what the Captain had to say to decide that it would be best for you to go down stares and help organize the supplies, maybe you can use this as a cover for a little while.

Heading down you catch the attention of Rupert. "Hello Milly"

You Blink in surprise. "Milly?"

Rupert laughs a little bit. "Oh, I hope you don't mind but you seem to dislike Mildred so I decided to give you nickname"

Milly hmm, you're not sure how you feel about that "Well, I was seeing you Rupert"

"Like wise"

He doesn't seem like a bad fellow but getting to close to someone with the church might be a bad idea. After walking a little bit you end up in a large room in the bottom of the ship. This room is full of crates of different sizes and supplies cover the floor, in the centre sits a short man with a grumpy expression looking over a piece of paper.

"Hello". You call out

The man looks up form his work. "What do you want?"

"Umm well the Captain said I could help organize the supplies while I was on the ship"

The man thinks for a second and shrugs. "Guess it couldn't hurt, have a seat, names sal by the way"

Sitting down you say. "Nice to meet you sal, so where do we start"

Sitting down you look over the cargo list and begin to examine it. It seems that the cargo is comprised of military equipment made by your local black smith, he was a nice guy until he throw a rock at your head while they carried you through town. You sigh putting the list down, after a while of rearranging, shifting, and organizing you find out that everything seems to be in order although there was one extra article of equipment in the crates.

Telling Sal he shugs. "Stuff like that happens all the time but say for job well done how about you take it off my hands. Go ahead"

It doesn't seem like much but you know that if it's your towns blacksmith that there's more to it than that, he may have been a rock throwing dick but he was good at his job. A witch with a dagger, how fitting. Slipping the dagger into your belt you say thank you to Sal and head topside.

Once on top you hear the Captain yell "Land HO". Look out over the distance you see buildings that are getting bigger as you draw nearer. Byhollow, one of the biggest port cities on this side of the kingdom. You breath a sigh of relief, your troubles for now seem to be over but you feel as if new ones will pop up again.

Well I think this is it for now, I think I'll continue tomorrow (for reals this time)
