Previously: Asherah summoned herself into being during Asher's performance for the Sunday choir. Choice Hills Baptist fell under the purview of this goddess scorned. A woman uttered her reverence for Yahweh in her presence, a blasphemy that was answered with a “cleansing” from the goddess.

Tensions ran high with a new internal dispute between Asher and Aerin as one clearly disapproved of the others' way of handling things. With Aerin held at bay, Asher reasoned with the Goddess and helped her reach a conclusion that subsided her wrath.
With a parting blessing to a band of seven, the Goddess returned to her plane of existence, returning the place to a degree of sodden normalcy as Asher got to work awakening others.

Aerin met her end by Eshe's hand, the loyal follower finally resolving that the strong-woman was beyond help.

A half hour later, most of the people trapped within the church have been put through the process. Hot Rod noticed a subtle rumbling with his enhanced perceptions

So, do corpses retain their natural magic resistance? If not, can haz zombie?
>>
The magical fog has cleared, giving you a better look at the grim scene.

Fragments of bodies lie everywhere, ravaged by the excessively large caliber of the rounds used by the ten foot mechs. Their blood's been mixed in with the ice, giving the room a surreal disparity between stark whites, blooming pinks and scarlet crimsons.
The metal folding chairs that once composed the pews have been blasted into oblivion alike with them, metal shrapnel everywhere and chunks of your ice strewn about the place.

You take a cold breath as Eshe goes toe to toe with the two remaining mechs that's been impeded by the altered conditions. Their weight causing their movements to become overly dramatic upon the ice, only the stabilization of the wheels at the back of their feet allowing them to keep upright as they fend of teasing blows by the electrified crocodile woman.
She's gotten too close for them to unload their excessive potential for collateral damage. That's good.

Helia balances herself upon her newly formed frozen blades, covered in blood, locking in on the enemy as she darts forward, body shining whites and blues like the onset of a magical blizzard as she puts herself to the side of one as it focuses to the front.
The mechanical arm moves as it brings a shining backfist to meet her blade, catching it mid-attack with its armor shining.

This is the one that threw something at your Hydra you realize... It's got magic!

[KILL! KILL!] your hydras hiss in unison as they struggle against the stake that's pierced their mutual body. It's not going anywhere like that.

Eshe goes in for a powerful blow and finds herself slipping on the ice momentarily. A moment that's taken by the mech that towers an additional two feet over the other.
>>
It goes in for a crushing downward swing that Eshe barely catches as she falls down to her needs from the mechanical might, her body glowing bright with her power to keep it from smashing her altogether. The mech's footing looks weak though, and you notice that the two remaining, along with the third bear a cable attached to their backs. The mage-spec's got its cable against the wall, but the big one? Its new position leaves it exposed.

A glance up reveals that Hot Rod's still looking down at the whole scene, virtually shitting himself over what the hell he's supposed to do about fucking mechs.

Your vision's still a bit blurry from that sonic attack, and you still can't hear shit. Lying just about prone behind one of your barricades is the only thing you can really manage as you peek out at the room.

Could you fix the hydra and let it poison whatever's piloting those things?
Or maybe severing that umbilical might do some good?
The magic mech is a definite problem, If that one were removed...

Zombies / water-ice constructs hybrid things?
>>
>>31087915
Pretty much Song of Ice and Fire zombies if you want them to be.
Frozen zombies.
>>
>>31087950
That does sound pretty baller.
>>
>>31087702
>[] Animate the cold corpses by moving their water.
If they seem strong enough to do damage, use them to attack the umbilical cord. Otherwise, use them to distract for our allies.
>>
>>31087702
Cut the umbilical, it shouldn't be that hard to make a blade with water and Materia Firma.

As cool as zombies are I don't think they'll be that useful in doing any damage to mechs so don't spend our burn on them.

Also, the mechs are standing on ice, and you said that it's only because of the wheels at the back of their feet that they're staying upright, so use Materia Firma on the Ice that their wheels are balanced on to make it act like a liquid, no traction, and then watch them fall.
>>
2 for zombies
1 for tactical water manipulation.
Any more?
>>
>>31088134
I voted for Zombies, but I would love to cut the chord if we have the juice for it.
>>
>>31087702
Oh, can we make out anything on the mechs that looks like a camera or sensor or something to let the pilot see from inside? If so, let's blind them with some bloody water/ice!
>>
>>31088173
There's nothing exceptionally obvious, but that just means you'll need to be thorough in the act.
>>
>>31088232
Hmm, I would be up for it, but I feel like coating the mech in bloody water would be too slow and costly for the benefit.
>>
Your eye falls over the many broken corpses lying in the room and you begin to think of how you could use them. They're not “people” anymore right? They're just hunks of flesh, bone and blood. Blood has water in it. You should be able to...

It's such a malicious thing though.

You'd smirk if your head didn't hurt so fucking much right now.

With a reach, you focus upon the cold blood of the bodies, semi frozen from your initial freeze.
Dethawing them some, you make as many as ten bodies rise up with glimmering power from your hand. The movements are jerky though, wobbly with your damaged semicircular canals.
The warm drip of inner fluid leaking from your ears in small drops. Cringing at the feeling, you deign to ignore it as you sick the “living dead” on their targets, yet they fall over, stumble, crawl, or even fly forward a bit under your power.

There's no life in them, only how you direct them.

You slam your fist into your frozen bunker, feeling new tingles of numbed pain sprout from your knuckles as you pull away with your hand bleeding.
Son of a bitch, you just cut between a knuckle on a piece of metal.

You suck the blood back as the bodies fall from your lack of attention. It's an idea worth some merit though. You're just not in the condition for such fine control, right?

Eshe slips a kick under her opponent's leg, knocking it into the splits as she redirects its crushing fist, yet she's left in a poor position for getting away with it looming over her while she's on her back.

Grappling the arm smashed into ice, she sends futile surges through the outside as sparks fly from her fingers. Yet the mech is undaunted by the fact as it seems to get a new idea to smash the ice with its knee, generating makeshift footing to stand again while it shields its front with its opposite arm.
>>
Helia spins off and makes distance as she alternates on her skates like a dancer, this was a mistake though as the magi-mech unloads on her with the birth, driving tens of bullets at her as she tries to block with her ice, getting pockmarked rather than turning into swiss cheese.

It pauses for just a moment as it deploys something into its hand, another javelin like the one it used on Hydra.

You see something fly past your vision. Something small and black sliding onto the floor. You squint your eye to get a good look at it.

A grenade? It came from behind you, you realize as you spin around in time to see a rifle poking out from the side of the blown open doorway. Another man kneeling down with his gun trained upon you, armored head to toe in black slick black plates and pads, his body shines with power.

Fuck me! More?

You react- fast as the man pulls the trigger to take out his target. Ice rises from the floor to shield you, trapping a three round burst in the middle of thick ice as you huff and puff at what it took out of you.

“Fucking military. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.” You mouth to yourself, unable to hear. If you hadn't seen that flash-bang. The grenade!

>Burn: Severe-Low

Lots of other things you guys could do here too...
Though fine magic control is a bit hard right now due to the sonics hit from last thread.
>>
>>31089160
Oh, and you guys do have aeromancy.
>>
>>31089160
I'm having a hard time visualizing our situation.

We're in a small crater, with Ice walls on one side shielding us from the giant robots. Eshe and Helia are fighting them.

Hunter is in the rafters. Our back is open, and some dude popped through the doors and flashbanged at us while shooting. We raised another Ice wall to stop the bullets, but the FB has yet to detonate.

There are corpses littered around the room that we just tried to puppet but couldn't do because sonics.

Oh, and we're deaf. Our allies may or may not be deaf.

That about got it?

>Lots of other things you guys could do here too...
Like what? Severe burn makes everything but the Ice and Hydrokinesis too straining as far as I can tell.

>>31089272
>Oh, and you guys do have aeromancy.
Severe burn, yo. I know you just want us to knock ourselves out and all.
>>
>>31089327
That's the situation.

The mechs aren't superhuge. But 12 and 10 feet for some perspective. Eshe managed to take one out while the fog was up but that was removed so you and Helia could kill the other shadow-mech thing.
>>
>>31089386
I really want to summon the wendigo, but I'm wary of the burn / control.

Would that pile of corpses work as a burn reducer thing?
>>
>>31089438
Offerings? Of course.
>>
>>31089452
Think it would appreciate a contract that gives it dibs on the people that fail to awaken?
>>
>>31089482

I... That's actually perfect for body disposal.
>>
>>31089482
I think we should make a slightly more complex contract this time.
>>
>>31089593
The corpse dibs would just be part of it. Something to sweeten the deal for it and make it demand less shit we actually care about.
>>
>>31089619
I think we should receive command seals as we give the summon more power.
>>
You guys want to do it?

Want to summon the Wendigo?
>>
>>31089728
yeeeeeeee boi
>>
>>31089728
Kinda?
>>
>>31089728
Seems the most exciting option I mean we've argued about it for threads but now seems the perfect time. We have to be careful with the contract though.
>>
>>31089728
The ride begins.

Also, it states at the beginning we haven't awakened anyone for Lucifer, wasn't that the purpose of the hotel room awakening? I don't recall giving the woman the followers spiel.
>>
This someone's going to be lack a contract to start with to make this conflict resolve a bit more hastily.

You'll be able to contract with the Wendigo later. Think of this little scenario as the starting to a beautiful symbiotic relationship.
>>
>>31090094
Sounds good. Got me excited! Can't wait to read his entrance.
>>
>>31089864
Do not try to eat or injure me, Asher, or any of those I designate as allies unless I explicitly inform you that they are no longer allies. Followers are all designated allies by default. Individuals who attack me lose ally designation.

Do not act against uninvolved mundanes without my approval. Do not interact with individuals who Followers are awakening. You may freely consume the corpses of all people who fail to awaken or are killed by myself or other Followers. You may not consume persons awakened by Followers before they choose their paths. Those who choose the Path of Blood may be freely consumed. Those who walk in peace may not be consumed or killed unless they make actions which contradict their path.

>Anybody got more to add / change?
>>
>>31090275
Only a obvious one, to attack whom we ask. Dat fine print do
>>
>>31090275
Switch out the 'unless they attack me' with 'unless they clearly and deliberately move to kill or capture me through the use force.'

Gotta lawyer-speak this, else being tapped on the shoulder might be considered an 'attack'.
>>
Pinned from the left and right, there's not many options left for you as you let the hydra dissolve away to its plane of existence, preparing you for what you have in mind next.

The grenade goes off behind you with concussive force and light but it's nothing that you're not already dealing with as you stare at the soldiers blocking the front exit. So long as your barrier's up, you don't need to worry about those two. They're in no hurry to file in. They must've been waiting back there after the shadows.

You turn your attention back to those corpses, your dizzy vision spinning as you focus.
Fine control is out. But you can still pour power in.

An idea. What's something that works with bodies? Cold, dead, bodies... Obvious ones?

Zombies? Too stupid.
Vampire? Too smart, lots of weaknesses.
Banshee? Fara, never again.
Wendigo? Eats humans, but you have no shortage of the dead. Smart but not too smart. Quick like vampires but without the weaknesses. Fire's a maybe but you could deal with that.

A cannibal monster could be much better than that damn hydra for body disposal, hopefully it won't make such a stench.

You speak aloud, even if you can't hear for yourself an incantation as you push your magic to the limit to summon this new monster.

“Demon of the winter wastes, devourer of the human race.
Consume the warmth that hugs the earth and aids the womb that giveth birth
I bid you to appear, to rend my foes asunder here.
Drink their blood and bile more, till thy endless hunger is sated.
Stomach torn.”

Completing the incantation, you feel the burden taken off of the magic.
“Wendigo!” you finish and one of the corpses is stricken with seizures, flailing and thrashing about madly, drawing the soldier's fire in concentrated bursts.
>>
The thing's undeterred however as it rises up, ignoring damage done to its body and swiftly devouring another human with gnashing, gnarling teeth that quickly drink up cold blood and gore as it begins to transform into a more suitable personage as Asherah had done.

You feel the burn end from your hands even as your nerves continue to glow. It must've chosen to sustain itself. They must be different from shades or the hydra.

After the Soldier gives pause to reload, the Wendigo stands tall.
It's flesh has gone white, hair fallen out, eyes white with supernatural sight and blood dripping over its maw, down onto what must've been a middle-class white man's Sunday best. It's maw is elongated with the beginnings of horns poking through its skull, clad in the light of the ephemeral glow of magic.
It bellows into the room with what you suspect to be a savage, primal roar as it whispers into your mind like a breath or a sigh of winter's chill. [Who.]

You point to the soldiers and whisper,”Them.”

The monster bounds of, loping upon all fours with elongated, distorted limbs, a jaw unhinged open to devour its prey.

You can all but imagine the massive dumb the soldiers must've taken as this wailing monster descends upon them in the middle of a reload. The one that shone attempts to go hand to hand with the Wendigo, aiming for its face, only to find that the monster's caught his arm in the distended jaw that snaps shut, taking it from him before moving onto the rest.

You look on, smirking to yourself as you lean against the ice, watching your monster do your dirty work.

Ice chips off of the barrier you lean against and you casually look over your shoulder, seeing that Helia's still in the game, fighting on as her icy armor turns red.
>>
The mech she's up against alternates between stabs and swings with its javelin in attempts to drive her away, opening fire with its other arm when she makes the mistake of widening the birth.
There are gashes in the armor now, but nothing inherently critical from what you can tell.

Eshe's side, she's increased in size and girth to fight her foe more evenly. A battle between two giant creatures, one of flesh and the other of metal takes place.
You see that at some point, both of their umbilical have been cut, but they're still operational.

Fuck.

You see the flash of a gun from the ceiling. Hunter's still up there taking potshots now and then with that gun. Be better if he could do more than that.

With a kick, Eshe plows her nemesis into Helia's, causing them both to stumble, crashing to the ground from the slipperiness of the ice. Helia goes in, laying them out with vicious strikes from her frozen blades, tearing through the hull. Eshe cuts in on the assault and jams her hand into both of them from the pulled umbilicals, sending the things spasm from an overload before they both go still.

Eshe huffs and puff after the mess, resting where she is, lying in victory.

[Done. Them?]

A check back on your Wendigo and you find that it's killed and devoured both soldiers, its horns sprouting further out from its crown, giving it the look of a stag as its snout extends, losing humanity.
It's staring at Eshe and Helia, then the ones blessed by Asherah. Still untouched by the conflicts and praying.

“No.” You say and it doesn't seem to like that.
“Eat the dead.” It bows its head and starts to work.

All targets down, but the outside is still compromised... You've got this big truck parked right in here though...

It's odd that hunter has become the least useful combatant.

Really gotta get him a new anti-tank gun.

Hey Dran. If we were to create a permanently enchanted mythical item, like a knife that gets SUPER FUCKIN SHARP, would it draw from us or from Hunter if we gave it to him?
>>

About how much and in what skill?

Would Expert Materia Firma work to make a dagger with a blade of permanently solid steam?
>>
>>31091998
That'd likely be more than sufficient.
Materia Firma will also open up other possible enchants.
>>
>>31092023
Hmm. Alchemy and Materia Firma really seem like the way to go for making some broke-as-fuck things.
>>
>>31092058
When everything's broken, nothing is.

Mind that Invokers can still suck power out of enchants if they really need to.

But a blade of infinite sharpness could still cut them before they realized the need.
>>
>>31092094
I got an idea.

A gun that works by sucking in and hyper-compressing air, then blasting it all forward to send a metal slug forward at mach 20something. It could even generate the slugs through alchemy by dumping dirt into the hopper.

Sure, the gun would be magic as fuck and a Bone could eat it if they got their hands on it, but the delivery of pain would be totally mundane. Have fun trying to drain the magic out of a magicless metal rod going so fast that it's igniting the atmosphere.
>>
>>31092172
Fuck yes. Call it "The Stake."
>>
As the Wendigo devours the corpses of the many dead, with few people alive here and there you weave your magic to reseal the front door, increasing the thickness of ice as your other hands numbs itself out with tingles of pain running up your arm.

Pausing, you figure you may as well make this easier on yourself.
“Cold weave and ice build, seal this door.” You repeat again and again as you make it happen.

There's a silence about the room now, and it's not just from your bleeding ears. Everything's stopped in here. You frown as you realize that you've just replicated a scene you've witnessed before.

This is exactly like the whole foods back in San Diego along the waterfront of downtown.

You remember the water there, the bodies as the cold crept. With a sigh, you realize that based on what you've done, you don't much feel horrified by the prospect, only... Helia's behavior.

The woman's still clad in her ice that's stained with blood, as she settles down, looking to you, Eshe, and Hot Rod, who's still clung to the ceiling.

Seriously though kid. What the fuck.

You get yourself to standing as you cast a lingering gaze over to the door, wobbling upon your feet with your broken balance. You motion for him to help you as you slip on the ice, falling and busting your head against the ice of the barricade.

You swear, and he comes down, but Helia's the one that's at your side first. You see her eyes through her mask, looking as though they've frozen over as she helps you up. You see the pock-marks from where the rounds hit her. That's where the blood's coming from.
>>
“Helia.” You say, but she doesn't hear you. She can't.
She seems to say something before giving you a hug, and points at the truck, seeming as though she wants to go.
Eshe laboriously rises up from her victory, and stumble as her body twitches in pain and she lands back upon her transformed haunches. Her body glows furiously, it reminds you of something, but you can't quite place your finger on it.

“No, no. It's time to rest.” You say, but Helia picks you up into her cold armor, leaping a few times to clear the barricades, setting you down next to Eshe even as you protest.

You catch Eshe's reptilian eyes look at you with deep fatigue. She says something that you can't hear. Hot Rod kneels down beside her, a hand on one of her enlarged scaled arms. He looks like he doesn't know what to say.

“We need to rest, we can't leave yet, we're surrounded.” You say and she pauses, her maw stops moving.

She touches your head with an immense claw the size of a dinner platter, and keeps talking before pointing to the truck as it begins to pull away, Eshe reaches over and grips into the back, her hand trembling to keep the thing steady.

Hot Rod looks to you, tilting his head down before he stands up, and runs onto the truck.

“What the fuck Eshe? I don't want to leave yet. My nerves are on fire! I need to rest.” You yell at her as one of her eyes winces closed, a tear of blood slipping out.

>>
You stare at the blood tear and you feel your eye pull wide as you realize what's happening. This is like that fucking kid back in the desert. Your heart sinks in your chest, reminding you that it's still there even with all of the cruel shit you've been doing.

Hell, without her, you don't know what you'd do. Helia's riddled with bullets and as cool as Hot Rod's been, he's been getting frozen in actual combat.

You breath heavy,”I can't hear, but I get it. Let's go.” Eshe bows her head with what seems to be a melancholy expression given her severely altered features.
She points, and Helia takes you into the truck as Hot Rod finishes up popping the drivers at the end and shoving them out of the way.

It's kind of amazing inside. There's tech you've never seen before, what look like bio-monitors for the mechs that've recently flatlined, those tethers attached to what look like generators, and plenty of other shit for maintenance and the like.

Helia sets you down into a seat with overhead straps to buckle yourself in. You feel the Wendigo wonder where you are.
(In here. In the truck.)

[Dead there?] It asks, the only thing really on its mind.

(Yes, but I need you to solve the life outside. We can talk about a contract later, yeah?) You finish with a proposal to the creature and it seems to pause amidst its dining.

[Contract. Yes, I would like that. I require one thing: Food.] You can feel its beastial shriek ring out from the other room even with the rumble of the truck spreading through your body from its powerful diesel engine.

You see it move from the church, tearing through the wall to rampage outside.
The best distraction.

Eshe lugs herself in, fitting onto the truck, likely only due to its noteable size.
Helia swings back to shut the shutter as Hunter puts his foot to the gas, letting the whole thing rumble away, jarring everything inside only briefly as it rams itself through the barricade.
>>
Eshe shakes again and remains in that large crocodilian form. Hell, you'd say that she looks a bit like Godzilla between the scales and the electric powers. Yeah.

You hope she's going to be okay.

You wonder at what must be going on outside. You wish you could hear right now, instead everything's muted and your ears hurt like hell. Fuck those black suits if you ever see them again, fuck them to hell.

[These maggots hurt more than they are delicious. I am done with them. We will discuss the binding later. I expect food.] The Wendigo tells you after some time. You're only certain that your lot's driven some way.

It's strange though. You'd have expected more resistance. Was the Wendigo that strong? Or is it something else?

Eshe's not moved for some time, her body shakes now and then as she squeezes herself against the wall to hold her back up. The breathing now and again lets you know that she's still alive.
Your pain lets you know you're still awake.
Helia removes the bullets from her body one at a time with some medical supplies she found among other supplies in this truck.

Try to work out how we could do healing magic. Water is life and all that, so maybe we could fix our ears and stop Eshe from standing at death's doorstep.

If we can make that realization, maybe don't do it now since it's sure to burn. After we get our strength back.

What is this truck like? Is it a full-blown 18 wheeler? Is it more like an armored car for banks? Is the cabin connected to the back directly or do you have to get out of the truck entirely to move between where we are and the driver's seat?

>>31093175
18 wheeler, cabin connected to the back, and it's decked out in electronics.
It was designed to carry, maintenance, and supply those mechs.

found it. I must have skimmed that one the first time. I naively assumed she had just been knocked out. Anyway once things calm down we seriously need Eshe to teach Hot Rod how to fight, if she survives that is.
>>
You ponder the implications of healing magic. Water is associated with that, right? You've done crazier shit than heal a body as it is, why shouldn't you be able to do that too?
You think about it, but you have no idea where to start with that shit.

Making water solid? Yeah, you can imagine that. Fixing your eardrums? You don't know if you trust yourself with that, let alone bringing Eshe away from death's door.

You spit on the floor of this accursed truck to spite the people that made it.

“Fucking military.” You whisper to yourself before kicking out in a rage as you still can't hear a goddamn thing.

As the smooth rumble of the truck carries on you resign yourself to sleep.
Screw it, you'll at least rest away some of this burn...

- - -

You awaken to two creatures resting before you and a white body sitting before you, fiddling with her form.

The one to the left is dark green and bears two twisting serpentine heads, weaving around each other and staring at you. “Ash-Er.” Hydra. You nod to it.

The other, to the right is large with a dark gray body with a red outline. Nodding a horned head, you see it staring at you with ebon-black eye, hunger deep within.
“Summoner.” The Wendigo nods.

“So, what's the occasion?” You speak, less disturbed by this than before.
The white-blue figure looks to you, and seems to smile at you. Not your body, but your awareness.

Helia sees you, huh?

“Old ones calls” The Wendigo speaks once more, a frozen whisper in this world. “Contract after.”

The Hydras content themselves to snap at each other, ignoring the urgency that the Wendigo seems to exude. It's kind of adorable given the fact that they're not going on about killing and the like.
>>
“Who's first?” You ask, paying the Wendigo your mind.

The demon laughs, black pouring out of its breath and mixing into the surreal colors of astral space.
“I would be. Yet I doubt you'd choose me over the old ones.”

This is good. It's realistic, not a possessive yandere nutter. It's willing to forgo being top-dog when it knows that it probably isn't, yet it knows when it is better than other things (like the hydra). And his demand (food) is simple and straight forward.
Aware of what he is and what he wants.
Wendigo is a cool guy. The "old ones" may be first, but it's only because I don't trust them to be as mature about this thing.

>[x] “Asherah then... We really need to talk about what happened.”
Lucifer will understand going to Asherah first.
>>
>>31093549
>[] “Asherah then... We really need to talk about what happened.”
>>
“Asherah then, She and I really need to talk about what happened.” You sigh and take a step forward as the ether distorts around you, taking you onto the surreal beach from before.

A sun hanging in the horizon, whether it' setting or rising is not quite certain, as it sends beams that dance across the ocean's waves and make the foam of the sea sparkle like diamonds.

It is there you see seven people kneeling upon the beach listening to Asherah speak as she stands upon a wave that's refused to pull out. Her form is different now, rather than a large humanoid of stars, sea, and other parts, she's pulled together into a shining human form, ripe with child as she speaks to the seven disciples she had touched.

“... be bathed in the holy waters of my birth, and forever know the Goddess Asherah, the one that once loved Yahweh...”

You idle as she finishes her preaching, filling the seven's heads with her words before bidding them farewell as they leave by her sea.

Positively glowing with excitement, Asherah looks to you finally, inclining her head. “Child of my name, it is good that you have come.”

You roll your eyes, thankful to have two in this space,”That took forever, I should've talked to Lucifer first.” You think aloud, causing her to frown a slight bit.

“Ah, so you do work for the rebel as well?” She seems to think about that point,”I do not find that disagreeable.”

“Thought you knew,” You say as you check to either side with a bit of paranoia at what could just jump out at you from this place.

“I prefer not to speak to Him.”

“Ah, right then.” You feel your face, noticing you don't have the slightest bit of stubble here. “So I just wanted to start with the fuck was that? You killed like twenty people because they said that name.”

Asherah raises her chin, starlight eyes half-lidded as she regards you with a bit of remorse,”Ah, indeed. I may have lost my temper and punished those children too hard.”
>>
You let out a deep sigh replied by the methodic movement of the ocean's waves. “I'd rather, really rather you don't do that again. I got a rep, and while I'm what some may call a terrorist... I prefer not to kill indiscriminately.” You check your nails to find they're disturbingly clean here. No seriously, do you just get a makeover for coming here?

“As the first one to listen to me, I will heed this request. After all, if not for you, I would not have these followers.”

“You enslave them or something?” Finished with checking your nails, you try pocketing them only to find you don't have any. You're wearing a white robe. “Okay, seriously Asherah, can I have my clothes?”

The white robes are gone and your street clothes are restored the next you look. “It's just so crude... I'd like you to be more pure.”

You stick a hand in your pocket, home sweet home, as you raise your other to halt her,”Alright, Asherah. We need to get something straight here because I don't want a repeat of my last mistake.
I'm not your pet. Not your lover, though casual sex is alright. And above all else, I'm not your lackey. You ask me to do something, I'll do it for ya. You're not bad when you aren't drowning little old ladies. Which in my experience so far? Is about fifty fifty. That clear?”

Asherah seems to strain a smile, stare at you with a bit of spite, but by the end she resigns,”Yes Asher. I've yet to give you your reward, haven't I?”

Your other hand finds its way into your pocket as you rock back onto your heels,”Uh huh. You were going to teach me magic or somethin' right?”

“Well, I have other gifts in mind...”

“Such as?”

“Healing your ears.”

>[] “Yeah, you got me there.”
>[] “No, really just want the magic.”

You suck in a hiss of breath, ball a fist before you,”Ooo, you. You really got me there. See... I really need that. Like, badly but...” You scratch your chin, finding your stubble's returned you kind of grin at that.
“Would it be possible for you to teach me healing magic?” You raise an eyebrow to the goddess, and she reclines upon a suddenly formed throne of water.

“It may. However it is difficult for mortals to do. Healing is a feat of we gods, divine miracles. Acts of destruction are as simple as a great wave.” She summons up a larger than life tidal wave to emphasize that point, before letting it fall.
“Restoring, giving life...” She picks up a clump of sand and waves her fingers before it, generating a sprout,”That is our realm...” She finishes, placing the sprout upon the beach.

Undeterred, “I could heal in your name, spread word as your prophet.” You offer, raising your chin up a bit to meet her gaze.

The goddess chuckles, looking down upon you with some humor,”I thought you said you weren't my pet?”

>>
>>31094189
Well this is a predicament. I don't want to submit to pet status, while at the same time I don't want to just go with the one time healing.
>[x] “I'll heal fine on my own. Teach me magic.”
Magic is so unbelievably broken that if we can't find a way to deal with it on our own, I will be very surprised.
>>
>>31094230
>>31094189
I'll second this. Its worth the chance she'll teach us healing in return for passing on that its 'coming from her', without going full prophet. She gets her name spread, we get healing.
>>
>>31094245
Asher hasn't really gotten around to how astral creatures perceive the world...

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
>>
The only thing that worries me about healing is that it means less bodies for the wendigo to eat after Awakening ceremonies.

Though, if it takes a whole hell of a lot of energy, then that won't really be a problem.
>>
Anybody else catch that Helia was here watching us? And nobody else was? I dunno if that means she's asleep or if she's really intent on watching us or if it's more evidence for the actually Fara pile. But I'm worried.
>>
>>31094343
Maybe they're merging.
>>
Guys, what if we made thoughtform ears to replace our ears? If we need to, we can offer a body when we get new ears. We can definitely manage new ears by Alchemy at the very latest, right?
>>
“Well... Prophet has four letters separating it from pet, much more dignified.” You laugh at your own joke, a bit pleased that the goddess isn't in as foul spirit as before. Having attention must really do it for her.
“Really though, No reason I can't tell the people I heal it is being done in Asherah's name and through her blessing. That keeps me safely out of pet territory. “ You fold your arms, a bit satisfied with yourself until Asherah's gaze settles upon you.

“It would kill you.” She sighs regretfully. “You are not powerful enough to preform such a divine miracle without assistance from a god such as myself. Even now, the best I can do for you- and your company is the healing of your ears. That is, until I have more people praising me as their mother.”

You frown at that,”Shit. So this turned into a one-time healing thing?”

“Please do not swear before me.”

“Sorry.”

“You are forgiven. I'd offer you more, though I have another request... If you'd be willing to listen?”

“Shoot.”

Asherah smiles, and it's almost a bit creepy, with sinister tidings tucked beneath the holy glow of her form,”Liberate the waters of the Desert Sodom you go to. I shall redeem the place as a whole.”

You bring a hand up for pause,“Okay, wait, details. After last time, I need details. What are you planning to do?”

Asherah seems to settle down,”An oasis. The beginnings of a kingdom that bears my blessing.”

“Nothing else? No drowning little old ladies?”

“I want to make it a paradise.”

She seems to be a bit lost in her new idea. Not sure if you'll get much more out of this.

I knew it was coming, but really. We don't have anything near powerful enough to break it in one go. Would we be able to unlock Geo if we put more ranks into Ice? Steam got us Air, so it makes sense.

“Right... I'll just get right on that. And I'll take the healing to go, teach me later or something.” You roll your eyes at the Goddess as she slowly snaps out of her strange fixation on what definitely sounds like blowing up a dam.

“Yes, I'll be borrowing your body.”

You blanch,”You'll what? No. No you won't.”

“I must to perform it.”

You swallow hard,”Just don't make me a woman like that damn priest.”

Asherah's wave surges forth and without a moment's warning it enters down your mouth as you feel the power of the goddess surge through your flesh body.

Your sensual connection to your body returns a moment as you feel the pain in your ears subside and the sounds of the world return to you despite your awareness of the astral.

After a few moments, Asherah's waters slip out between your lips, returning to her ocean.

“Less harmful than I thought...” You mumble beneath your breath.

“Farewell Asher... I do hope you heed my request...”

You give her a wave,”Yeah. We'll see.”

The scenery changes, and you expect to return to that comfortable chair in front of a fire. No, instead, you're lying in bed with a beautiful blonde sleeping beside you.
She turns over and wraps an arm around your bare chest beneath the sheets, pulling herself closer into you as you feel the softness of her breasts brushing against you.

Not unpleasant, but not quite what you expected, you gawk for a moment as you enjoy the touch before saying anything,”Lucifer? ...Is that you?”

A finger is pressed to your lips as you hear an almost silent shush whispered into your ear,”Time is for pillow talk.”

You gently move the feminine finger away,”No, really. Lucifer? And I'm not sleeping with a succubus. Think I'm stupid?”
>>
A gruff voice comes from elsewhere in the room, the same pleasant older gentleman as before sits beside the bed, staring at the two of you naked beneath the sheets,”Why, not at all.”

You take a gander to the beauty at your side, the way her hair falls over her face's delicate immaculate features and pink lips. Then back to the older man in an armchair, raising his glass to you with a raised brow as he takes a sip at his red wine.

You close your eyes,”Yeah, you got me here.”

When next you open them, the woman's gotten out of bed putting on a bathrobe of similar design, though more suitable for a slender frame as hers. The man gone is gone, and you're left with just you and she in this bedroom.

Well, at least you made the fun choice, right?

She pours herself a cup of coffee, “Would you like some dear?” Her lips part with the barest hint of tease as she crosses her legs.

“Yes, yes I would.” You're not looking at the coffee.

She passes a cup to you, and you look into it. Black. Black as the night. What'd you expect? You take a sip at it. Not entirely disagreeable. Alright, you can do this.
“So, I've done as you've asked and awakened people. Not sure how many are still alive but...”

“It's good, and as I've asked. A very good start.” She holds her coffee cup with both hands, smelling the warmth rising from the cup before pushing back a lock of her hair as she takes her own sip.
“You're expecting a reward of course. More than me being a bit of a tease I assume?” Her lips curl in almost a purr at that.

You nod absently,”Yeah... But I don't think I need soul sex or whatever this would be.”

“When did I mention that?” She smiles at you and you sip away your shame by the coffee.
Returning back to the subject,”I'm willing to offer you the gift of fire. Pyromancy at that instead of mere kinesis.”

“What's the difference? You raise question with that, this is new.

“Pyrokinesis...” She begins, setting the cup down upon a side-table,”Is the creation of fire with one's mind.” She opens up her hand, and a flame appears.

>[] (Other)
>>
“Pyromancy however...” She brings the flame before herself, holding it aloft between her hands as the flames part into an orb, showing you a vision of the real world...

>A mother births a child with white hair. She passes it off to a man in white before she's tended to by two girls that remain by her side. A swell appears in the mother's belly as her body shines, already beginning to ripen once more.

"What was that?"

“It was divination and so much more. You'll require a god to teach it to you fully, and I just so happen to share similar stories with Prometheus and Loki alike.

She closes the flame, snuffing it out. “I could also recommend a very serviceable imp... Aside from this, you must realize that I will not be giving you more without proper... service.”

“Alright, so inuendo aside, you're offering me one thing. Right?

“That is so,” The woman nods.

“And if I want more, I need to fulfill a task for you.”

“Bingo dear, want a cookie?”

“I'd lo-” You catch yourself, waving your finger at that,”No. I don't want cookie.”

“Your loss, she bites into a triple chocolate chip deliberately,”It's better than sex.”

Could we ask Lucy if healing really too hard or if Asherah is yanking us? Because I got my suspicions that Asherah just wants to keep something to hold over us since it's pretty obvious that Asher is more mercenary than devotee.

Lumomancy? I dunno. It kinda sounds right.
>>
You mull over your choice of the two gifts and think back to the same little situation that was put into your hands by Asherah. Overall? Hell, it feels like she ripped you off.

“Hey, before I accept either, I'd like to know exactly how difficuly healing is. You seem like the honest sort, strange as that sounds.” You lean against the headboard of the bed, sipping your coffee as your eyes drift to less than pure places now and then.

Lucy picks up her coffee, again, mulling over the question. “What deities have you heard of in your studies that actively give out the gift of healing? Ridding a body of its poisons, injuries, and defects that could very well be genetic.”

“Well, everyone knows of Jesus's miracles. Healing the blind, sick, lame, and so forth. Other legends, maybe but none quite as well known...”

“There are, or rather were. It is as Asherah said, forgive my eavesdropping, healing is a miracle. Bones heal by virtue of the power of their own flesh. Cut off an arm and burn it, it's not coming back unless they get the blood moving. Veins, they only ignore the damage.” She takes a pause to sip, as you absorb what was just said.
“Imposing change upon another, especially for their own good is something that borders on divine power. It is known early to very few indeed. Asherah is a god that can teach it, yet you are more likely to accidentally kill who you try to heal than you are to save them.”

You bow your head in light of Lucy's honest explanation,”So healing is that difficult, huh?”

“It is more difficult than creating life from scratch, and Asherah does not yet have the power to undo any damage you might do in an attempt.”

“What of you? You're divine.”

Lucy leans over, giving you a glimpse at her cleavage as it hangs from the red bathrobe marked by a ramskull. She smiles flirtatiously,”Why yes I am, but I am no God, let alone a creature of healing. I'll take the complement though darling.”

I'm just wondering if he's purely rip and tear or if he got some ice magic as well.

Does the divination come as part of the pyromancy that levels up with it like our aquasense levels with hydrokinesis? Or is it going to be a sub-spell that we have to level separately?

>>
>>31095443
Anon that tidied up the pastebin here.

I just noticed that the way I formatted the summons makes them kinda hard to differentiate between now that we have multiples of them because the names, contracts, and restrictions all use [] to enclose them and it kinda all blends together.

I suggest replacing the brackets around the names with something else and perhaps adding something to indicate the position of a new summon's name when . Maybe like :

<Frozen Banshee (Fara) Mythos/Thoughtform>: An Evoker that had called herself back amidst the throes of death. She seems not to remember much of her past life, though she takes the form of a young lady made of snow and ice bearing a mask that acts as her face. You expect her to be capable of screaming like she'd shown before, spreading cold.
[Simple Contract]: "Do what I say, so that you can help me."
[Restriction]: He may not ask her to act against him. {Rank 4}

Or do something where you replace the brackets and number them all, like:

# {Frozen Banshee (Fara) Mythos/Thoughtform}: An Evoker that had called herself back amidst the throes of death. She seems not to remember much of her past life, though she takes the form of a young lady made of snow and ice bearing a mask that acts as her face. You expect her to be capable of screaming like she'd shown before, spreading cold.
[Simple Contract]: "Do what I say, so that you can help me."
[Restriction]: He may not ask her to act against him. {Rank 4}
>>

>>
>>31095476
>At least Lucifer has some humility or at least tact
As He/She/It should. She/He/It did fall.
>>
>>31095456
Wait, so we can't just be like "I spend 2 LIMIT to upgrade it to Apprentice" as soon as it unlocks? We can only do it in the dream sessions with Lucifer? Will it still cost LIMIT points or will it be 'free' in exchange for him/her only helping us when we do tasks?
>>
>>31095479
I think just putting a - in front of them would also work. It's what we're using to list each individual spell, so it would fit for summons too.
>>
>>31095491
Exactly, and it's not free. It ensures your continued service if you want to get anywhere with it.

>>31095476
Can't ask a god for humility though.
They "deserve" worship.

>Could've gone straight up yokai with oni and fox spirits and shit or chinese with atraight up Jade empire celestial bureaucracy.
That sounds stupid.
>>
>>31095510
>Exactly, and it's not free.
Eesh. So we have to spend LIMIT points AND we can only spend the points after we do jobs for Lucifer? Does that mean that we lose out on potential learning if we finish a job but we don't have enough LIMIT points? Could we bank 'favour' with Luci or something in a sense so that they "owe us one" and cash in the training later when we can actually do it?
>>
Just geokinesis. That's all that's left and then we can get Alchemy!
>>
>>31096076
Did Dran ever say what the level req on Alchemy for some of the things we wanted to do was? Like, what rank would we need to do the thing where Asher can replace pieces of his body with alchemized thoughtforms?
>>
>>31097322
At least two in each for the first rank of alchemy.
Pyromancy will be skipped because you're jumping straight over kinesis.
>>
>>31097489
What about for the alchemy itself? I doubt novice would let us make a magic eye into a physical thing that we could implant into ourself.
>>
>>31097489
So, all in all, it's going to cost us
>1 for Pyromancy
>2 to upgrade Aeromancy
>? to get Geomancy into the unlearned list
>3 to unlock Geomancy and level it once
>1 to unlock Alchemy
>2 to upgrade Alchemy to a point where it's usable.

9 LIMIT points minimum. Probably closer to 15 when you take into account all the shit that we're gonna have to buy to get Geo.
It's going to be so worth it.
>>
>>31097526
Or is the first rank of Pyro going to be free? I'm still a touch foggy on how that business is all gonna work. I know that we still gotta spend points to rank it up, but was our reward the first rank itself or was it just the ability to learn it?
>>
>>31097504
Novice will and apprentice are both on about the same level with the major difference being the drain accrued.

This is basically the same for all of the "spells."

That said, novice-apprentice will function most between realistic chemistry and mythical alchemy.

That means from the get-go you'll be able to turn shit like lead into gold, water into wine, separate water into oxygen and hydrogen via electrolysis...

It's definitely going to be worth it. Mind that creating living homunculus bodies will come later still from that.

>>31097534
First rank is on the hose. I also count that last encounter as three LIMIT.
It really isn't over yet.
>>
>>31097559
Would an Oath count towards the Apprentice minimum for our kinesis'?

Also, 4 LIMIT hell yeah. Could either get something up to Adept or we could get a couple more things to Apprentice.

>Mind that creating living homunculus bodies will come later still from that.
Closer to Adept or Expert?
Master?

Novice/Apprentice rank sounds pretty cool though. Seems odd that it can do straight-up nuclear transmutation for Pb->Au but you gotta electrolysis the water.

Got a lot of plans for Alchemy. A lot of plans.
>>
>>31097637
Oh and does Asher have some sort of vague idea that he might be going for something alchemy-ish?

He would know the whole 4 elements lore thing, and now that he has fire, water, and air, is Alchemy something that would come up in his mind in-quest?
>>
>>31097637
>Seems odd that it can do straight-up nuclear transmutation for Pb->Au
It's more costly, but you can do it due to it being in the realms of mythical alchemy.

Electrolysis of the water is the lest costly process while performing "true" nuclear transmutation is not only dangerous, but if a high cost.

It can be started at adept. Though true life is Master-Divine.

>>31097700
It may cross his mind at some point once he's gotten control of Alchemy's four mythic cardinals.
And he realizes that he's missing one.
>>
>>31097733
>And he realizes that he's missing one.
Dran plz no. Alchemy already costs ridiculous points to unlock. We could get something to Expert for the same cost.
>>
>>31097766
>Expert
Actually Master...
>>
>>31097766
It's the final component of alchemy and will be part of unlocking the trade itself.

Some of you didn't trust the femcifer/lucifem thing.
What were you worried about?

>It's the final component of alchemy and will be part of unlocking the trade itself.
Well now I'm all fucking jittery.

>Some of you didn't trust the femcifer/lucifem thing.
>What were you worried about?
Man I don't even know. It's Lucifer though and the whole thing was making me worried. Why would he do that when we seemed perfectly comfortable with how he presented him/herself last time? What was s/he playing at? Were they trying to make Asher slip up somehow? Something else? There has to be a fucking angle.

>>31097780
No, not actually Master because you have to buy the ranks before you can buy the next.
>>
>>31097830
Sherri's Ranch.
>>
>>31097887
I still don't trust that either. I have no idea what you were playing at, and I fully expect you to attempt to lure us back into that deathtrap on the return trip and I expect the other players to jump right into the beartrap.
>>
>>31097903
Pfft, you're going to Vegas.

And I said that because it makes sense in context for Lucy to do that when you've spent the better part of a week's stay at a brothel/hotel.

You can be comfortable. Or you can be MORE comfortable.
>>
>>31097933

>>
>>31097966
Sheri's Ranch? Yeah, there's really no reason why that should be inherently relevant in the future.

Asher's moving onto bigger and better things.

Like Hoover Dam.
>>
>>31097966
Spoken like an anon who just wasn't smart enough to see where we went wrong with Fara, so now he's paranoid of everything, even stuff that's logically completely harmless.
>>
>>31097792
If it had been a side option and not the entire focus of an update, I probably wouldn't have been looking for hidden tripwires. You want players to not be paranoid about cosmetic options? Make them side options.

You should have had Lucifer actually give us something substantial to talk about or decide on and then have an "oh by the way you want Lucifem or ya want old man?" as a side option. When it's a one or the other thing like you set it up, it ascribes importance to the choice. If there isn't any importance, then don't set it up so it looks that way.
>>
>>31097987
>Hoover Dam
Asherah's requests are going to drive away all our allies one at a time, aren't they. Not sure if it's going to be Eshe or Hunter, but I can't see both of them being cool with it. Helia too infatuated to care for now, but it's looking like we're gonna lose someone else.
>>
Something to consider for an eye.

Asher's gouged eye is his left eye. The left eye of Horus is associated with the moon and Thoth, who is associated with the arbitration of godly disputes, the arts of magic, the system of writing, the development of science, and the judgment of the dead.

Seems like something that would help out our water magic. Even if we don't go for a full-blown summon->alchemy homonculus eye thing, it could probably reduce burn costs if we draw it on something.

What about if we upgraded both Ice and Aerokinesis?

What about a reeeeeeaaaaally little blizzard?
>>
>>31102392
So long as it doesn't hurt anyone. And you'd probably want to upgrade Aerokinesis.

And it'd be a small blizzard. Need more advanced weather manipulation to create a full blown storm.

Master rank weather manip. could whip up a cat 4-5 hurricane with a ritual over the course of a day or so.

What.

Seriously. What?

I do not remember you saying anything about that. And I would remember that because I remember everything that I can twist into something that seems interesting.

When did you mention that?
>>
>>31102856
How/what summons can actually see is what I meant. Asher's not at the point that he can perceive astral while he's awake though.
>>
>>31102887
What, so leveling summoning will let us to the astral projections or something? It sounds like a fantastic way to get ganked by other mages / summons while we can't fight back
>>
>>31102836
>>31102887
I'd place a good bet on it being that summoned beings can only perceive things that are perceived by humans (or whatever else has an effect on the collective unconscious). We know it isn't 'just what the summoner perceives' thanks to the ravens. We should try shutting them in a room alone or something though, to see if they can still see anything.
>>
So how hard would it be to use Pyromancy to make Edgy Black Fire™ that burns like a motherfucker?
>>
>>31103568
Depends on what properties you want it to have besides being black.

You could make it sharp even so that it cuts things as it burns.

>>31102909
Nah. But you'll eventually be able to see the astral realm without being passed the fuck out.
>>
i'm a little new here, and catching up, but I think we should focus on ICE defenses and summoning offenses. we are VERY effective at blocking attacks and creating illusions with ice, and the offensive summons don't require out attention to work. cast and forget, then play defense and distraction.
>>
>>31109862
That's actually pretty reasonable.

Hold up behind an ice wall and let the flesh-seeking Wendigo do its thing, eh?

Not a failproof tactic, but a good one.
>>
Is this world fucked at this point?
Just seems inevitable that everything's gonna get worse.
>>
>>31109862
That was more or less the plan already. Throw in Alchemy and Enchanting for utility and improving combat ability, as well as making use of the subspells that are required to unlock Alchemy, makes for a powerful force.

>You could make it sharp even so that it cuts things as it burns.

Would that require more ranks in Materia Firma or can it be done with just Pyromancy?

Blunt-force fireball.

Not even hot, just heavy.

>>31115800

>>
>>31115817
Multiple hits. Constantly being pummeled by the flames, without any need to focus on it.
>>
>>31115873
That doesn't make any sense at all. Attention is never the resource that we have a problem with. It's Burn. Spamming blunt, cold fireballs will overload our nerves far faster than bashing something with water will overload our ability to focus. I'm also not seeing how you think that spamming fire will require less focus than slinging around water.
>>
>>31115903
It was a joke, you know that right?
>>
>>31115937
You know it's really hard to tell when things on the internet are jokes when there's no indication beyond the inefficiency of the idea being suggested, right? >>
>>31116005
>Not over the top stupid/suicidal

So you like my idea~
>>
4 LIMIT points. We have some options (with vague and biased subjective ranks!)

>Summoning to Adept [A]
Costs all 4. Would let us start to summon up bigger things and exert more control over those we already have. Lucifer might offer us something better than an imp next time.

>Hydrokinesis to Adept [A]
Costs 4. Buffs the Aqua Perception. More power in our main non-summon offense. Maybe able to get better things from Asherah.

>Ice to Apprentice (Oath makes it equivalent to Adept) [A+]
Costs only 2, letting us buy something else as well. Our ice is our main defense and force of control for Awakening ceremonies, so less burn and more strength would help out a lot. Quite a lot. Might reveal Cryokinesis or Geokinesis(Alch req) as unlearned spells.

>Aerokinesis to Apprentice [A+]
Costs 2. Is an Alchemy req. Would move us closer to weather control as well. Also opens up air as a viable attack method.

>Materia Firma to Apprentice [A]
Costs 2. Will upgrade the offensive/defensive power and reduce burn. Getting up to Adept with either more points or an Oath will allow for MT to be used with any of the spells we have bought (Air, Fire, Light if we buy it, Plants if we buy them, Earth when we eventually get it)
>>
>>31117474
>Materia Firma to Apprentice [A]
Costs 2. Will upgrade the offensive/defensive power and reduce burn. Getting up to Adept with either more points or an Oath will allow for MT to be used with any of the spells we have bought (Air, Fire, Light if we buy it, Plants if we buy them)

>Pyromancy to Apprentice [B]
Costs 2, so we could get something else as well. Apprentice rank mostly just makes the burn lower, so it's viable to actually use. Being able to do divination for cheaper, in addition to all the other stuff it can do (like just straight up fire) looks good. Fire is also the wendigo's weakness, so this would be good to have in case negotiations sour. Can only be trained when meeting with Lucifer, so we kinda need to go for it now if we want it.

>Photokinesis to Novice (or Apprentice) [B-]
Costs 1 (3 if upgrade). Much better for Illusions than Ice is. Would be helpful in Awakening ceremonies to scare and shock people. Would make our sneaky sneaking dickery easier to do. Eventually opens up lasers as a possible combat option. With enough ranks in Materia Firma, we could make a lightsabre and give it to Hot Rod. Opens up the possibility of using Light for summoning (light constructs / elementals etc). Possibly opens up Umbrakinesis as an unlearned spell, which could be combined with Photokinesis for very very sneaky.
>>
>>31117492
>Florakinesis to Novice (or Apprentice) [C]
Costs 1 (3 if upgrade). Would allow for pykrete improvement to ice, giving access to more permanent constructs and greater defense. Even if only 1 LIMIT is spent, Oaths for FK are very easy. Would allow for direct manipulation of wooden structures.

>Steam to Apprentice [F-]
Costs 2. Has fun value as SURPRISE STEAM!, but it seems almost redundant. Higher ranks unlock Heat Generation, but I'd be surprised if Pyromancy doesn't. With Hydrokinesis and Materia Firma, we also don't really need it to hurt things with water.

>Illusion to Apprentice [F]
Costs 2. Will reduce burn cost. Honestly seems like buying Photokinesis would be better since we can only use Illusion as a cantrip and direct Illusions would require even more ranks while seemingly offering little to no advantage.
>>
>>31117501
Ice, obviously. I wanna be able to (pretty soon here) cool bullets travelling down the barrel of a gun so we can get a snap-freeze effect ala mass effect.

Also, Illusion is better than you think. I want you to consider, for a moment, a summon that utilizes Illusion. While photokinesis can only affect light, Illusion can (I assume) apply to all five senses. Imagine being on a battlefield, and suddenly there's some kind of hunched-over, blue-skinned goblin type thing with a massive, bulging cranium. It turns its head towards you...and suddenly everything is gone. One glance into its eyes, and the building you were in is suddenly torn apart, rubble everywhere, bodies burning and the screams of your squadmates ringing through the place. The sky is filled with clouds, the earth damp with blood, and the very air tickles at your throat with the cloying scent of burnt flesh that hits you like a runaway train. Looking down, you see your hands torn apart, bone exposed with bits of flesh and tendons clinging to it. And below that, is a puddle of blood. You can see your reflection. You are one of the corpses.

All that takes place in about three seconds, if Eshe or Hot Rod doesn't suckerpunch them in the meantime.
>>
>>31117641
I know that Illusion will be good eventually, but that's the problem. It will not be good on this immediate upgrade. Spending half our LIMIT points on Illusion won't even let us use it without comboing. We will still have to mix it with Ice (or light if we buy PK), so the Apprentice level itself is a horrible purchase when it's surrounded by tons of not-horrible alternatives.
>>
>>31117672
Wrong again. Even at apprentice, we could use it to hide ourselves. Block out sound, increase our effectiveness when awakening, even talk openly in public about what we're doing. Hell, we could use it in las vegas to make the cards seem like whatever the hell we want them to be, or disguise ourselves in the city (they're probably looking for a one-eyed guy looking like we do)
>>
>>31117709
Nope. We have to combine it with other skills to manifest the illusions up until Adept.
>>
>>31117709
>>31117733
The point was that anything we could do with Illusions Apprentice, we could do just as well or better with Novice Illusions + Photokinesis.
>>
>>31117749
Can you make sound with Photokinesis?
>>
>>31117761
No, but you can't make sounds with Apprentice Illusion either.
>>
>>31117766
Honestly, Illusion is one of the best things we could get.

A little mantra I have for myself is "We can only act upon that which we perceive, because even if we are wrong, we have no other evidence upon which to act."

With photokinesis, we can hurt people. With illusion, we can control them. Hack the brain itself by forcing reflexive responses to various stimuli. We can get fucking mind control from illusion. It's worth getting that at the next spending to lose something now.
>>
>>31110514
Ok: an idea I had.

inspiration:
>We come from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.

We were born from water, but that doesn't have to be our destiny.
I think that we should focus more on a "frozen wasteland" theme. an enviroment so hostile that it tears the life from your body without ever touching you.

Powers: Focus on ice, get the ability to encase people in it. controll weather too, make blizards and snowstorms.
Make the ice REALLY cold, like .1 degrees Kelvin cold. (this will take the heat from someones body so fast they will be dead in less than a second)
Summon multiple windegos and arctic wolves and shit.(m-m-m-muuuulti summon!)

or: alternate route:
water->ice->cold->heat(as in the sence of thermodynamic energy)->entropy
we get controll of ice and fire, then become masters of energy.
these powers would be more along the lines of simply taking all of the heat out of someones body so they just freze/die due to protiens not working at 10 degrees kelvin.

Basically one is the "lord of a frozen wasteland" and the other is the "lord of entropy", both are super thematic and both give us really awesome powers
>>
>>31117904
>Thermodynamics
NERD

>Desolate frozen wasteland
I like this, but I still think that we should get some illusion powers.
>>
>>31117943
I'm in favor of getting both Ice and Illusion, as I said.
>>
>>31117955
well..in a frozen wasteland you can never be sure what is real or just a trick of the senses?

Ok: fuck my entropy idea:
Frozen wasteland it is: power goals:
Ice, POWERFULL ice, and COLD ice, .1 degree Kelvin Ice
Powerfull summons, mainly for multi-summon of Wendigos and wolves.
Some weather powers, mainly just to create ice on a greater scale
Some illusions powers, to trick the senses of people who are in our winter wasteland.

like it?
>>
>>31117815
It doesn't get very good until Adept+ (really, more like Expert+)

At Novice, all it can do is project fuzzy images onto our ice (or light if we buy it). At Apprentice, all it will do is make them slightly less fuzzy and cost a bit less while still being bound to our ice (or light if we buy it).

For the immediate boost to illusions, Photokinesis is a bigger boost than Apprentice Illusions. It would allow 3d illusions in open space instead of having to make big ice screens to project onto while upgrading Illusion itself to Apprentice will still be bound to the ice.

Illusions will be good. Eventually. Just not in this next wave of purchases, so if you want the best illusions we can get right now, then Photokinesis is actually a better purchase.
>>
>>31117998
I don't care about images. Illusion should allow sound as well, even if it's at the same poor quality as our images would be. Even if all we can do is pump out one godawful tone, that would STILL be pretty damn effective for disorienting our opponents in battle. What I want is SOUND. I don't care about images all that much, to be honest.
>>
>>31118033
Upgrading Illusions once isn't going to get sounds.
>>
>>31118063
It should. Sound is less complex than light.
>>
>>31117998
I agree, I vote for and Ice or Summoning upgrade. IF the ice lets un encase and cool people to .1 Kelvin, then Ice, If not, lets upgrade our summoning until we can summon multiple wendigos and wolves

>>31118076
light is EM waves, sound is physical waves.

Can someone copy/paste this at the start of the next thread? I always get to these way to late:

ASHER: theme

Inspiration:
>We come from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.

We were born from water, but water is not our destiny.
We will become the master of the frozen wasteland. We will be the mirage that leads you astray. We will be the teeth and claws that take your life. We will be the cold that seals your fate.

Powers:
Ice: Encase people in ice that is close to 0 Kelvin, tearing the heat from thier body in seconds.
Summoning: Call forth the wendigos and wolves to tear at our opponents.
Weather: extend our wasteland as far as we can see.
Illusion: mislead and disorient those inside our realm.
>>
>>31118089
There's more to illusion than disorientation. Seeing things you don't want to see can be torture, and illusion can break minds easily if we work at it.
>>
>>31118089
Hah, I thought Alchemy was your destiny?

In any case, I've said before: You can go to extremes with any ability and find ways to make it work.

You also need to be careful with that sculptor oath. As soon as someone gets hurt by hail or an icicle...
>>
>>31118133
All the more reason to focus on illusion.
>>
>>31118133
>Hah, I thought Alchemy was your destiny?
I was about to say the same thing, and then my power went out for a few seconds.

Fuck Florida and the random-ass storms that knock out power.
>>
>>31118133
A proper vote in the next thread would be necessary. Let everyone decide, not the five of us still lurking.
>>
Also, a reminder here for where Asher currently is in the story...

The group is currently in a commandeered military vehicle filled to the brim with technology, fleeing the scene of their terrorist activity having broken through a squad car barricade.

You currently have no pursuit in the town.

Are you prepared for what happens next?
>>
>>31118287
I still say illusion and ice, but yes.
>>
>>31118287
Nope not even close to being ready just gotta take it as it comes. Odds are they can track us considering it's the truck used by the mechs which is bad news for us.
>>
>>31118287
I think either Ice+something else or Summoning is what we will end up getting.

I'm hoping for the something else to be Air or Fire. Or Materia Firma. Hell, I'd still be happy if we ended up getting water upgraded. There's about to be a hell of a lot more dudes throwing themselves at us for them LIMIT points. We just need to get something, anything, that will let us deal with them easier right now.
>>
>>31118287
Actually... Would we be able to use pyromancy to explode cars by making a spark in their gas tanks?
>>
>>31118657
We probably could. Could probably also make explosions by combining Aerokinesis and Pyromancy.
>>
>>31118657
Asher's not a mechanic, not real savvy of the location on most vehicles.

But it is so that he doesn't need to throw the fire.

>>31118782
>Roy Mustang mode activated
>>
>>31118792
>But it is so that he doesn't need to throw the fire.
The way you worded that is confusing. Are you saying that he knows enough to detonate the gas tanks even though he's not too knowledgeable of cars or are you saying that he doesn't need to know shit about cars to just throw the fire around?

Also, would an "Oath of the Sword" (no using fire for defensive constructs walls / constructs in a fight; you gotta go for the hurt) work?
>>
>>31118846
Hmmm. Fire's not really a balanced resource for offense/defense. I don't see it as a real enough restriction.

And what I mean is that he doesn't need to throw it.

A fireball is not necessary. You can just explode fire onto or around something.

And hell, if you put enough fire inside and outside of a vehicle you're going to hit the gas eventually.
>>
>>31118888
>Hmmm. Fire's not really a balanced resource for offense/defense. I don't see it as a real enough restriction.
What about something that disallows use when you're below a certain Burn threshold? Like, Asher gotta "get warmed up" before he can use the fire or something?
Or maybe go with the reverse and disallow use if he's above a certain Burn level, making it an opener only or forcing Asher to take a break to cool down before he blasts more fire mid-fight.
>>
>>31118960
Now that* I could see. Would be interesting.

It would be a dynamic oath that would. Above or below a certain threshold he's get subtracted ranks, while in the inverse he's get more.

Oath of Burnout/Warmup sounds good.
>>
>>31119016
Would you mind posting the burn levels from most to least?

None > various burn levels > Unconscious/Deadsies
>>
>>31119043
least to most*
>>
>>31119016
I really like oaths that work on a variable +/- thing instead of the constant + with a "NEVER FUCK UP NEVER, OR YOU GON GET FUCKED!" stipulation.

I like this Warmup/Burnout Overheat? Oath.
>>
None<Mild(Low-medium-high)<Moderate(Low-Medium-High)<Severe(Low-Medium-High)<Critical
(This is where it really hurts and you go you're barely able to stay conscious and your body becomes unresponsive. Passing out here is a safety threshold because it's coming on right before..)
<Death
>>
>>31119130
Yeah, there's a distinct difference.

Dynamic oath vs static oath
>>
>>31119146
Ok. So how would the placements of the Warmup Oath on the scale affect the +/-?

Would it be worth more +ranks to put the point on Severe instead of Moderate?

Like, say we made it so we gotta hit Severe to go +. Would that only give +1 rank? How many - would it give when below Severe?

What if we made the point at Moderate? Would that also be +1 for hitting Moderate? What about the - while below?

What about at Mild?
>>
>>31119171
I really wish we'd made Sculptor a dynamic oath. Static seems really, really horrible and it still only gave +1
>>
>>31119224
Mild's too low for risk reward. The sweet spot would be at Moderate for either. You'd just need to find other spells to cast before/after that point.

Additional restrictions won't increase the rank beyond 2. It's a matter of balancing that out.
>>
>>31119259
*I meant that 2 oaths won't increase the rank beyond 1 total.

You guys have already figured out how useful they are for saving points when it comes to master level.
>>
Work now, AoPH later.
>>
>>31119259
>Oath of Warmup: When burn is below Moderate, Pyromancy loses 1 rank. When burn is at or above moderate, Pyromancy gains 1 rank.

Would that work?
>>
>>31119309
Yep.
>>
>>31119259
>>31119288
ok: question: can we modify how oaths work? I like that they are interesting, but i wish they were a trade on a power rather than a flat boost but with a killswitch.

and example with ice: creating objects/situations/enviroments with ice gains 1 rank, moving ice around(ice-kenesis) looses 1 rank
>>
>>31119309
>>31119331
oh...yea...basically something exactly like that. I don't think that people knew that we could make oaths like that. Can we retcon it?
>>
>>31119331
That works for sculptor. Though at rank 1 it loses all ranks.
>>
>>31119328
It could make for setting up some interesting combos. Like using Alchemy to turn chunks of the area into highly flammable material and then when we hit Moderate, blasting flames everywhere.
>>
>>31119309
I think the oath might be better flipped around, if we take it. Otherwise it'll be hard to use later on.
>>
>>31119377
>Otherwise it'll be hard to use later on.
How so? It would be easy to keep a crummy novice skill around. Those things will put burn at Moderate in one turn.
>>
>>31119363
so...we can retcon it to work that way, or it already works that way?
>>
>>31119331
>>31119363
I'm not entirely sure how that would work. It seems like we have to move Ice around to make those situations and such, right?

And how would it interact with something like making a Blizzard? That's not really our Ice-kinesis moving it around, but it's still moving as a result of our magic.
>>
>>31119393
We can't get Alchemy off a novice Pyromancy. Also, it's be a waste to keep a -mancy at novice and level up shitty -kinesis skills. And I mean that we'll also build up a tolerance over time IIRC. Do more before we hit a burn. Having some nice effects like that pushed off for only when we're in more considerable danger is dramatically fair, but sounds like a gamble. What if we have to blow up a city, or a dam, will we have to start wearing ourselves down to start getting anywhere?
>>
>>31119469
>We can't get Alchemy off a novice Pyromancy.
Yes we can, because it's a -mancy and not a -kinesis.

But I'm not saying to keep it at Novice. I want to level it, but I also think that an Oath on it would be a good idea.
>>
>>31118133
Further question: if an ice chunk "hits" someone, does that count as using it as a weapon? what about if they are hurt by the coldness of the ice? where does the weapon/non-weapon divide happen?
>>
>>31119377
>>31119393
I assume we effectively work by how much burn we can produce in a time frame, not how much magic, so having high skills that we don't generate much burn on generally wouldn't actually hinder production of burn if we wanted to, we just need to use the skill HARDER, like spontaneously generate more water, or move it at higher velocity.

>>31119469
If you want to blow up a damn start by making the water denser to put more pressure on it. Really the only time the warmup oath is a problem is if you need a very specific effect Right This Instant, which I don't see being the case with fire, or at least large amounts. Like, teleportation or some defensive measure I wouldn't want to have to warmup for, but a damage option I really don't mind, since it just means using one of our numerous other options in early rounds, like setting up defenses, illusions, summons etc.

>>31119328
One thing I might want to do with this oath though, is make the Mancy part 'burnout' (or whatever the terminology will be) so the divination is better performed in calm situations, but have the pyrogenesis part be 'warmup', so when we are in the heat of combat burning people becomes a stronger option.
>>
>>31119661
We're playing a defensive character. Thus far, our plan has been to hide behind walls of ice and completely fuck with the environment, while our summons do the majority of our damage for us.
>>
>>31119469
>>31119529
And I was thinking that it would be better as a Warmup because pretty much all of our fights have had us at Moderate or higher for the majority of the time. We're hardly ever at under Moderate, because we have to open the fights by raising up our defenses.

Asher is squishy. He shouldn't be opening fights by blasting fire, he should be raising ice walls, prepping summons and illusions, and getting his ass into a .

The opposite oath, +ranks when below moderate and -ranks when above, would be better for destroying static targets like buildings / cities / dams. But, really, what do you think we're going to be using pyromancy for more often? Fighting enemy mages / robots / whatever or blowing up buildings?
>>
>>31119699
>and getting his ass into a
defensible position
>>
>>31119695
Yes. That is completely in line with how I see us. What part of what I said made you think I didn't? The 'heat of combat' line? I didn't mean, like mixing it up trading blows, I mean the strain of midcombat, once we've built up burn from setting up in invisible bunker with 5 decoys and an army outside Then we can start enveloping people in clouds of hellfire.
>>
>>31119748
What I mean is, our defensive abilities will be harshly limited by the warm-up oath.
>>
>>31119773
How so? I really don't see it.
>>
>>31119773
what? how? Pretty sure the only suggestion was applying warmup to fire. That was all I wanted at least, hell I wanted to see if we could divide it further and have the divination part of pyromancy 'burnout' and the pyrokinetic/pyrogenetic part 'warmup'.
>>
What I really want to get is Materia Firma up to Adept. Being able to enchant and manipulate all of the different materials we have magic for is amazing.

Like, imagine if we bought Florakinesis(Novice, 1point) and Materia Firma Adept. We could take all the wood in a house and make it behave like a gas. Even for half a second, that would fuck up a building so insanely badly.

Same with Geokinesis. Imagine how easy it would be to fuck up the Hoover dam if we could just make strips of it float away into the air. Or any building with concrete in it, really.
>>
>>31119805
Oh, only to fire? That I can work with.

Another alternative is to take the Fable 3 route. Essentially able to use max-level spells, but with until points are spent in that element the casting time is atrocious and, honestly, impractical.
>>
>>31119773
I don't understand what you're saying. Warmup would just make it so we couldn't use fire at full power at the start of a fight. How would that make our defenses limited?
>>
>>31119839
man, it seems like half the oath arguments are about misunderstandings.
>>
>>31119864
It's a complex system, so it's bound to happen. For what it's worth, I'm sorry for causing the misunderstanding.
>>
>>31119805
>I wanted to see if we could divide it further and have the divination part of pyromancy 'burnout' and the pyrokinetic/pyrogenetic part 'warmup'.
I hope we can do that.
>>
Want to try to think up some Dynamic Oaths for some other spells since we seem to have come up with a fairly good one for Pyromancy?
>>
>>31119910
Aerokinesis - Oath of Pure Air - +rank when using Aerokinesis by itself, -rank when combined with another spell as a cantrip.
Oh god this is a horrible fucking oath. 0/10 would not use.
>>
What if we put the Burnout Oath on Steam? We could use Steam up until we hit Moderate and then switch over to Fire.
>>
>>31119910
Oath of Pain when suffering get +rank when not get -rank
Oath of Truth get +rank when announcing the intent of a spell, - rank when you don't
>>
+Ranks if you have Awakened a person within the last 24 hours, -ranks if you have not.

Can't really think of a name for this one. Maybe Oath of the Lightbringer? Seems to fit since magic makes people light up, so awakening them is kinda like giving them light, and it's also something that Lucifer wants us to do. Or maybe just Oath of the Awakener or something.
>>
>>31120147
Oath of Betrayal

Essentially gain 5 limit points, but only when our true love is murdered. Which will happen. In front of us.

It will be brutal and psychologically scarring.
>>
>>31120327
How does it work?
>>
>>31120530
When under duress, the mind can either break or go full throttle.

By having the one closest to him brutally murdered, the physical and mental strain placed on him can allow him to reach a new level of focus. What the Oath does is subtly manipulate events so that, in the near future, Asher's loved one (who he has to actually hold in his mind) will be killed, and his mind will be kept from breaking by the magic. Make him stronger by self-inflicted pain.
>>
>>31120327
>>31120583
Pretty sure oaths don't work like that.
>>
This isn't for Asher, but it would be neat if there was an npc that took some kind of Vampiric Oath on all of their spells that made it so they have a boost if they've drunk blood recently and starts to degrade into no boost after a day and then it starts to apply a reduction after a couple more days.
>>
>>31121051
Vampiric Bones anyone?
>>
>>31121187
Exactly what I had in mind.

Hell, a Bone could even invoke the vampire mythos if they got powerful enough and be able to actually become a vampire.
>>
I'm half convinced that Helia's gone and made some weird "Asher Oath". It would explain why she keeps using our ice for her armor instead of stone.
>>
Oath of Decartes: +ranks if you have given someone the dick during this same day. - ranks if you haven't.

Oath of the Drunkard: -ranks if sober, +ranks if drunk.
