You are a broken cyborg on a mission to reclaim his stolen parts, and enact revenge on the harvesters who took them.

Last time on Broken Cyborg Quest, we saved a young augmented man on the streets from harvesters. He was grateful to us, and offered to help us in our mission to remove the harvesters from power. He later suggested that you needed a beter base of operations than Kyle’s apartments, prompting you to disobey every order Kyle had given you over the last three days and walk straight into the lion’s den while still injured. Despite your injury, you managed to take the warehouse you were previously a captor in for your own... With a lot of help from Sebastian and the prisoner you freed.

You lean back in the chair of the front office, reclining comfortably with your feet up on the desk. It feels good to have your own place, even if it was hell taking it over. The job got done, so you’re happy with the result. You hear a knock on the door. “Mister the Dentist!” Sebastian calls. “The executive and that guard are both locked down in the operating room. You can interrogate them whenever you’re ready. “Perfect,” you say as you swing yourself in the swivel chair and stand up, planting your feet firmly onto the ground. “I’ve been waiting for this.” You start walking out of the room and down the hallway alongside Sebastian. “I’m really excited to watch you work, even if I’ve got a bit of a weak stomach. I’ve seen the pictures of the bodies in the news, but seeing it in action... This will be something else!” Sebastian says, sounding very enthused.

>”Just sit back and watch, you’ll pick up a few things.”

I want to help fight the harvesters the way you do.” “No. You have to fight the harvesters your own way.” “I don’t even have my own way.” “Then find your own way.” You reach the bottom of the staircase. “C’mon... Just let me help. I won’t do it your way, but I’ll do it!” He begs.

"Fine," you give in. “But take this seriously.” “I will.” He promises. You open the door to the operating room and step inside, finding the guard still locked into the table and the executive bound to the wall. The girl you saved leans on her bar with her gun in her hands. “Thanks for watching them. I can take it from here.” You say to her, flipping out your jackknife as you walk closer to the helpless harvesters. Sebastian comes behind you and taps your shoulder. “Wait, let’s do good cop bad cop!” He whispers to you. “What?” “I act like a good guy and be all polite, then you act all crazy and scary.” “I do that second thing anyway.” “Yeah, so it’ll be easy! We know our method works; may as well see if alternatives will.
>>
>>31139411
Exactly. But shorter bursts. Plus there are two of them. Pretty sure the second guy'll crack easy.
>>
Should we start with the exec or the thug?
On the one hand, killing the thug first will make the exec more willing to talk. But he might resist more instead since he knows that he's the only prisoner left.
On the other hand, if we go for the exec first, he'll know that we've got another prisoner we can question, and will be less restrained, and so might break easier.
>>
>>31139443
>>31139433
>>31139411

You shrug. “Sure.” You don’t see much of a problem with it, and you don’t have to do much differently than you already do anyway. “I won’t let you down.” He says, walking ahead of you and over to the harvesters. “So which one first?” He asks.

>>
>>31139847
>kill the thug immediatly
Wait, what? No, if there's another prisoner, then we're less likely to restrain ourselves, because even if the exec dies, we still have the thug left to question; keeping the thug for second makes the exec more likely to talk.

“We go for the small fry first.” You lean against the operating table and stare down the terrified harvester. You rip the ball of cloth from his mouth and toss it to the floor. “Seems like I’ve kept you waiting long enough. You feeling ready to talk?” You ask. “No. Fuck you.” He hisses. You grip his throat quickly and begin pressing his neck down further into the table. “You’re just full of piss and vinegar, aren’t you? Why don’t you give me a smile, eh? Show me those pearly whites.” You grin at him as an example, showcasing your own teeth to him. He simply shuts his mouth tighter. Your smile fades. “If you don’t smile for me, I’ll just have to cut your lips off.” He immidiately begins grimacing, showing you his teeth. “That’s a good boy.” You stick your knife between his two front teeth and tilt your head. “Your teeth are absolutely filthy. I’ll have to operate on the spot!” You begin grinning and putting more pressure on the knife. You can even feel his teeth beginning to push apart. His breathing becomes ragged and he starts to shake, but he remains silent. “Give him a break, come on.” Sebastian says to you, stepping in. You reluctantly remove your knife from the man’s teeth. He exhales and begins breathing rapidly. “Listen, my friend is... A little unstable. Just tell me what you know and we can skip this whole thing. I don’t want you to have to, um...” Sebastian pauses. “Well, you’ve seen what he likes to do.” “I’m not talking,” the thug replies. But he’s obviously becoming more and more nervous. Still, you’re worried that Sebastian can’t bring home the results on his own.

We're concentrating on dental torture, not going after the arteries in the legs.
Those arteries have far too much blood flowing through them and the thug will die far too quickly for us to be able to torture him enough.

You write dialogues in a big block of text when it is much easier to read when one makes a new paragraph for each speaker.

You step in and place your hand on the thug's thigh.

"Come on, Seb. You're not getting anywhere with him. Lemme take a crack at it! I think I saw a gold tooth or two in his mouth. Let's just pull them, rip his augs off, and be done with it!" You cackle afterwards. You can fear his quaking intensify.

"Stop it. We just have to be patient and we can get some infor-"

"To HELL with that! I just wanna get into his mouth! Maybe I'll make that stuck-up fuck-up of an executive wear a necklace made of his teeth!"

You step forward once more and drag your knife gently along his leg just soft enough not to cut, and run it upwards as you walk forward until you're once more at his mouth. "Wanna smile for me one more time?"

"I-I'LL TALK! I'LL TALK! J-JUST GET THAT PSYCHO AWAY FROM ME!" The man shrieks, kicking and trying to escape. You're honestly disappointed that you didn't get to torture the guy, but holding back seemed to do some good for your psyche. Maybe it'll be easier to resist the urges in the future now.

...
...
...

You and Sebastian got a lot of information from the thug. You learn that the nightclub serving as a harvesting facility is called "The Rogue", and that Raizer oversees this facility as well.

"I see... So you answer to this 'Raizer' as well." Sebastian notes quietly.

"That name just keeps coming up... I can't wait to find this guy and ask him a few questions." You say, pounding your fist into your open palm.

"Now for the next guy..." Sebastian says, looking over to the executive.

>"I'll lead this one. You follow."

>>
>>31140652
>"Go start him off. I'll follow."

Yes, the text is much easier to follow.

I feel like we should torture the thug, get his teeth, and get his blood on our clothes just for the intimidation factor. We're going to kill the both of them anyway.
>>
>>31140702
>>31140731
>>31140756
When we step in, we should be wearing a dental mask, medical apron stained with blood, and be putting on a pair of medical gloves.

>>31140785
Pretty sure the two of them are in the same room.
>>
>>31140833
I imagine watching us get ready will be scary as all hell

>>31140833
>>31140934
It'll be like "Since I haven't met my quota of teeth today, and the other one already talked, I'll have to get today's worth from your mouth. For the sake of my collection, please, try not to talk as long as you can. Be brave~!"

“You go ahead and start him off. I’ve got... Business to attend to.” You say, walking over to the cabinet of medical supplies. Sebastian walks over to the executive and begins talking to him, but you can see that the exec’s eyes are still on you. You open the cabinet and remove a white surgical smock. You affix it to your front and then grab a surgical mask, slipping it over your head and onto your mouth. You then take a pair of white rubber gloves and stretch them over your mechanical hands. You tug at the end of the glove and pull downward to make sure it’s affixed snugly, and let it go. A satisfying snap sounds as the glove slaps against your arm. You snatch a scalpel off of the table, your growing grin hidden by your surgical mask.

“Be good. Maybe you’ll get a lollipop when we’re done.” You say as you close in on the man.

The sound of screaming, slicing, pulling and laughing distracts the executive from Sebastian. Soon, even Sebastian has stopped speaking to watch your brutal display go on. The one-legged survivor girl watches in horror as you go to work, the white medical gear you put on quickly staining itself red. By the time you’re finished, your victim’s mouth is barely even recognizable as a human orifice. You hold up a small baggy of teeth and look in the executive’s direction. “Next.”
>>
>>31141193
Damn, that's brutal. What have we created?
>>
>>31141193

The executive immidiately begins talking, letting dozens of names and locations spill. He’s talking so fast that Sebastian has to tell him to stop so he can grab a piece of paper and write this down. Soon, you’ve assembled a large list of people high up in the harvesting business.

“And Raizer? What about Raizer? WHERE IS HE?” You demand, throwing your fist against the wall and looking down on the man menacingly.

“I-I don’t know! His location wouldn’t be known by someone like me!”

“Then tell me someone who would know.”

“That... That recently hired assassin who came into town. He’s directly under Raizer’s control. I-if you find him, you can find Raizer.”

You pause. “The assassin... Do you mean Bassett?” You ask.

“Y-yes. Him.”

You clench your fists. “Where is he?”

"He's at the night club, the Rogue. Please, j-just don't take my teeth!"

You begin to chuckle. Then that chuckle becomes a laugh.

"Sit tight, you bastard... I'm coming for you." You say, grinning.

"A-and what of me? I gave you what you wanted... Please, just... Make it a quick death."

>"Since you cooperated, fine."
>"Sorry, but an appointment's an appointment!"
>>
>>31141193
See, you're going to die. There's no question on that issue. The only question, then, is how much pain you're going to experience before you die.
Cooperate, and you get a knife to the heart.
Don't, and I hope you don't, and I make another necklace.
>>
>>31141248
Quick death. Let Sebastian do it.
>>
>>31141248
>"Since you cooperated, fine."
Also call Kyle to get the mechanic and the niece to set up shop here and ask the girl we saved to join us.
>>
>>31141248
Knife him in the heart.

As much as I'd like to indulge our thirst for bloody vengeance, we've got to trap this base and get ready for when Raizer sends another group of Harvesters to take it back, and we need to get the girl and ourselves to Roth.

"But I-"

"If you'd rather me book you for an appointment..."

"NO! I... I'll tell you..."

...
...
...

You kick the limp body off of the operating table and shove the bag of teeth into your pocket. You did give the man his quick death, but afterwards you took his teeth.

"Was all that... Really necessary?" The woman asks.

"Yes. For me, at least. It's just something I have to do." You reply, removing your gloves and smock and tossing them onto the table.

"I don't understand, but I won't argue. I'm indebted to you for saving my life." She says, sounding thankful. "If only I had my leg so I could leave this place..."

"Just sit tight a little longer. I know a guy," you say. Just as you're about to call up Roth, your ear begins buzzing.

"Hello?"

"TALOS, YOU IDIOT!" Kyle yells from the other end. "I'm looking at your position, and you're outside of the city! What he hell are you DOING?!"

“Oh, yeah. I went to a harvester base.”

“But you’re injured. How could you do something so reckless?! I’m seeing two live bodies right next to you right now!”

“They’re my friends.”

“And what about the harvesters? What if they find you?”

“Oh, I killed them all.”

“...You cleared an entire harvester base while injured?”

“Is there a problem?”

Kyle sighs. “No, forget it. Is it safe for Roth and I to come over?”

“Sure. I was actually just about to call you up to come. We’ve got a lot to talk about.”

“Right. We’ll be there soon.”

You sit down against the wall and place your head in your palm.

“Everything alright?” Sebastian aks you.

“I’m just tired is all.” You say quietly.

The girl hobbles over to you and lets her iron bar drop to the floor, then sits down next to you. Sebastian joins the two of you soon after.

“So what’s your name anyway?” The woman asks.

"And what were you expecting?"

"My brother thought you were a seven foot tall 350 pound brute. I thought you'd be an ugly five foot hunchback."

"Sorry to disappoint."

The woman laughs a little bit and smiles. "My name is Alice. It's nice to meet you." She extends her hand out to you, and you shake it firmly.

"And I'm Sebastian!" Sebastian states proudly.

"Oh, you must be his assistant." Alice notes.

"Yeah, he's my ally." You explain. Sebastian looks happy that you don't think of him as an assistant.

"So when you get fixed up, what are you planning on doing?" You ask.

"I was going to go home to Cherol... But I'm not sure anymore. As long as the harvesters are still there, it could happen to me again. I don't know what to do anymore." She says, sighing.

"Then why not help me fight them?" You ask.

"W-what? I'm not even augmented for combat... I-"

"My friend can give you the augments that you need to protect yourself. You don't have to live in fear of the harvesters. You can fight them yourself."

"...I'm not sure. Thank you for the offer, but I'll have to think it over."

"Alright."

The three of you make smalltalk while waiting for Roth and Kyle to arrive.

...
...
...

You hear a knock at the door. “Hey, Talos! Open up!” You hear Kyle yell from downstairs. You get to your feet and begin walking away.

“It could be a trap, be careful.” Sebastian suggests.

“No, I know the voice well enough. ...Probably too well.” You mutter in reply.

You walk through the large warehouse, eventually reaching the front door. You swing it open to see Roth, Kyle, and Abby all present.

“Welcome to the new base of operations.” You say, gesturing for them to follow you upstairs. As you reach the operating room’s door, you stop. “Abby should wait outside. Kyle, stay with her.” You order. You don’t want her to see the still-fresh bodies inside.

Roth follows you into the room and looks down at the one-legged girl before him.

“Goodness... So this is the cruelty of the harvesters.” He says quietly. Alice says nothing, she simply looks down. Roth looks over to you. “Do you know where her leg is?” He asks.

“It’s probably around, but we’re not putting it back on her. She’s using regular prosthetic augments. Give her combat augs.” You command.

“You don’t have to do that for me.” She objects.

“Anyone with augments in that godforsaken city needs to be able to defend themselves.” You reply stubbornly.

Alice sighs. “I suppose you’re right. But I feel bad taking them without paying...”

“Don’t worry about it, young lady. I don’t work for money anymore. I just do what I think needs to be done.” Roth says, smiling. “But before we set to reparing your new friend... I have good news for you, Talos. Your arm is repaired. I also made a few improvements to it.”

“About time. Now I can get to that night club and show that cocky Bassett character who’s boss.” You say, eager to pay him back tenfold for breaking your arm in the first place. But the girl still can’t even walk... You do need to get to that nightclub quickly, but you’d feel a little bad leaving her immobile even longer.

“What? But you’ve got work to be doing, don’t you? Both procedures will be quite time consuming.”

“I’m a patient guy. Fix her first.” You say once more.

“Well, alright, then...”

Roth helps Alice to her feet (or rather, foot) and takes her over to the operating table, but you stop him first. “Maybe you should clean that before you operate... I, uh-“

“Of course you did.” Roth mutters, sounding slightly annoyed. He walks over to the sink to wet a towel and clean the table. Alice takes your arm instead to keep her balance.

“...Thank you. For that, and for everything.” She says gratefully.

“Don’t mention it.” You reply, looking away.

She frowns. “You’re not that great with people, are you? The only time I’ve seen you hold eye contact with someone is when you’re cutting their teeth out.” Alice jokes.

“Sorry.”

“Don’t apologize. You’re just you, there’s nothing wrong with that.” She says, smiling. You look over to her and attempt to make eye contact, but soon find yourself feeling the need to look away again.

“Miss, the table’s all cleaned and ready.” Roth calls over. You help her walk to the table, and Roth soon sets to work preparing her for the new limbs she’ll be getting. “Boy, go fetch my cases from the car.” Roth says to Sebastian. Though he sighs and mutters something profane under his breath, Sebastian leaves to go get the bags. You’ve got some time to kill while Alice has her surgery.

Never mind I thought you where talking about the new girl. Abby is going through the files because we need her to do something away from the bodies plus the files are not going anywhere so we can look them over later. This is our base now.

"Kyle, tell Abby to go read through those files upstairs." You say as you approach the body of the guard you kicked to the floor.

"Why? She won't understand any of it." Kyle responds.

"Yes, but she can't just stand out there for two hours while we operate and clean these bodies up. It'll give her something to do. When you're done, there are some bodies downstairs that need de-augmenting." You say as you set to work carving the body's arms off. "You too, Sebastian. Grab a body and a knife, then get to work."

Kyle exits the room to tell the kid what to do. You and Roth work quietly on your respective bodies for a while, but after about a half hour of silence, Roth looks over to you for a moment.

"Talos, I need to know something. Are you fighting for your posessions, for revenge, or for true justice? I swear, I can never tell what it is that motivates you." He asks.

>"My augments."
>"For revenge."

First was to get my augs then became justice when i say them doing it to other people.

A.k.a I don't know what the fuck I'm doing.
>>
>>31149900
I started because I was mad that they took my augs. I hated them for it. But then I saw what they did to other people, and I hated them more. It made me angry. I guess that's where "the dentist" came from. And he wanted revenge. Not just for me, but for all those people.
>>
>>31149900
"Revengustice."
>>
>>31150033
This seems the most appropriate. Especially since we seem to be trying to separate ourselves from the dentist. Though I am afraid we might get a true split personality if we keep separating ourselves from the brutality of what we are doing.

"I guess a bit of all three," you respond. "At first, I was mad that they took my augs. They had taken everything I'd worked for my whole life to attain. But then I saw what they did to other people. It was bigger than just me. So many others have gone through what I have... So many others have gone through worse." You explain, stopping work on the body for a moment. "That made me angry. I guess that's where he came from... The Dentist, I mean. He wanted revenge. Not just for me, but for all those people. And I believe that vengeance to be just." You resume work on the body.

"...I see. That's an interesting viewpoint." Roth replies. "I'm glad to be working alongside you, Talos. Your mind's not in the right place... But I know that your heart is."

"Thank you, Roth."

The two of you resume work in silence.

...
...
...

Sebastian kicks open the door to the room suddenly, interrupting the peaceful silence.

"Hey, Mister the Dentist! Where should I put the augments I took?" He asks.

>"You can just call me Talos, you know."

You gesture towards a cabinet with your knife. "Put them over there. ...And call me Talos. 'Mister the Dentist' just sounds weird." You say, standing up to bring your augments to the cabinet as well.

You haphazardly toss the harvested materials into a pile in the cabinet before walking back to the now harvested body on the ground.

"So what are we going to do with the bodies?" Sebastian asks.

>"We're in the desert. We throw them outside."
>"We bury them in the basement."

"We bury them in the desert." You reply, lifting up the carcass on the ground.

"Oh, alright. Let's get started, then." Sebastian prepares to leave the room, presumably to grab the body he de-aug'd. But Roth interrupts him.

"Talos, you aren't in the condition to be digging ditches. Your chest wound is still healing, and repeated heavy physical exertion like that will be sure to cause you a whole lot of pain. Besides, I'm nearly done with your friend anyway." Roth says.

>"I'll be fine. I cleared this place, after all."

>>
>>31151187

Maybe we should just see if there's a freezer, or something that the Harvesters themselves used to get rid of bodies. Digging ditches is hard work; we should have made the prisoners dig their own graves first.
>>
>>31151159
>"You've got a point. I should relax a little."
"You guys can handle this, right?"
>>
>>31151230
That's actually a good point. Ok, let's have Sebastian try to find what they did with the bodies.

"You've got a point. I should relax a little," you reply. "But only while I'm injured. And I won't sit around doing nothing... I'll just help in a less physically taxing way." You decide.

Sebastian sighs. "You're a workaholic." He mutters. "Do you really think the harvesters dug holes out here for bodies? We haven't checked the basement yet... Maybe they do something else with them." Sebastian raises a good point. It'shard work digging even shallow graves Iin the conditions of a desert.

"We should look for what they might've used to dispose of bodies, then." You say, dropping the corpse to the floor once more.

"Careful down there," Roth warns.

Sebastian leaves for the basement, and you follow. You walk down in silence. It's dark and dry down here. The dryness of the desert is bad enough, but this basement feels like an oven. It smells pretty terrible too, but you can't quite pin the scent.

"Damn... Is there a window to crack or something?" Sebastian asks, tugging at his shirt collar.

"No, Sebastian. There are not windows to crack underground." You reply.

As you continue downstairs, the heat intensifies. The two of you reach the bottom and see a warm glow coming from the end of the room. As you approach it, you begin to realize what it is you're seeing.

"No way..." Sebastian says quietly.

"The harvesters... They truly are disgusting." You mutter angrily.

Sitting in the basement is the largest personal crematorium you're sure exists in the world. Above it, a word is crudely written on a sign: "TRASH".

[ I'd like to continue, but today was long and stressful for me. If I keep writing and stay up late to write, I'll make more mistakes and the quality of writing will probably suffer, too. 11:00 AM EST tomorrow, we get back at it. Sorry, but I just gotta sleep. ]
