You are a broken cyborg on a mission to reclaim his stolen parts, and enact revenge on the harvesters who took them.

Last time on Broken Cyborg Quest, we interrogated the remaining living harvesters in the warehouse to learn the name of the night club containing a harvesting facility. Upon being told of Bassett's involvement with the place, we became deadset on going there... But first, the party was due for some repairs. While Alice was being affixed with combat augments, Sebastian decided to find a place to put the bodies of the harvesters. We found what we were looking for in the basement; the crematorium.

The smell is incredibly intense, and it makes you feel sick to your stomach. Sebastian covers his mouth and runs upstairs. You can hear the sounds of his gagging even still down here. You walk towards the crematorium and place your hands on the sign above it, the sign labeled "TRASH".

>Rip the sign down in respect for the dead
>Leave the sign up; it'll be accurate now
>>

God damn, I always find this quest by chance. Every time since the first thread.
Also, leave it up.
>>
>>31158057
>Leave the sign up; it'll be accurate now
>>
Make sure that we take photos of the faces of each Harvester before we incinerate them.
No telling if we'll need to compare faces later.
>>
>>31158138
>>31158126
>>31158086

You decide to leave the sign up. Taking the sign down won't earn back the respect that the people burned in it lost... But burning their murderers under the same title might. You turn and leave, walking back up the stairs. You find Sebastian with his hand against the wall and his face green, a pool of vomit beneath him. His breathing is shallow, and his eyes are wet.

“Tell me, Talos... How can people not know about this? How did WE not know about this? Everyone in Cherol goes about their daily lives knowing about the harvesters on some level, yeah. But... But nobody knew this.” He says quietly.

“I know, it’s disgusting. But that’s just all the more reason to keep fighting against the harvesters. To end this kind of cruelty.” You reply.

“Is what we do really any better?” He asks, looking up to you.

"No, but it's necessary." You reply. "The city can't... Or rather, won't defend itself. We have to be the ones to get our hands dirty, or else the harvesters can just do as they do with no resistance."

"So to stop the bad guys, we've had to become the bad guys ourselves." Sebastian muses. He steadies himself and takes a deep breath. "You're right. We have to do this. If taking action bloodies my hands and standing by keeps them clean... I guess I'll just have to learn to deal with the former." Sebastian's mood seems to have lifted.

"Good. Then let's get back to work."

"Right."

You snap photos of every body you throw in the furnace before you do so. It's about time you kept records of your own.

...
...
...

The building has been completely cleared of bodies... Except one. Sebastian said that Alice's brother should have a proper burial, so you simply covered him up for now.

"Talos! It's your turn!" Roth yells from upstairs. Looks like it's time to get that new arm.

"Hey, Talos," Sebastian says to you. "I just wanted to know if you called dibs on Alice yet."

"What are 'dibs'?" You ask in response.

"Did you like her, or what? Can I take a shot?"

>"I don't posess the dibs that you speak of."
>"How does one place these 'dibs' on someone?"
>"I told you she's not in any mindset for that."

"I told you she's not in any mindset for that." You say to him as you walk away and up to the operating room.

"...So that's a yes on you having dibs, then."

"Fuck off, Sebastian."

You enter the operating room. Alice is standing on a pair of new legs, and she has a new right arm as well. You hadn't noticed it until now, but only her right arm and legs were mechanical in the first place. That coupled with the fact that her augments were noncombative makes you realize that her augments were likely the result of an accident.

"How do they look?" Alice asks, bending her new arm a few times and flexing her fingers to get the feel of her new augs.

"You look very well equipped for self defense." You reply.

"That's... Not what I meant. But thank you." She takes a step forward but begins wobbling slightly. Roth grabs her arm to steady her.

"You aren't used to the increased weight of your augments yet. Your balance will be off for a few hours, just try walking around a little with someone to steady you." Roth suggests.

"I'll help her out." Kyle volunteers, allowing Alice to take hold of his arm. "Let's go check on Abby." He suggests.

"Thank you so much, Roth. Good luck with the new arm installation!" She says to the old mechanic as she exits the room alongside Kyle.

"Are you ready for your new augments? Or did you want to do something else first?" Roth asks.

"You're fighting that Bassett again, aren't you? Don't overdo it this time. You can't lose yourself in the heat of combat." He replies, fiddling with some machinery to get it ready.

“I won’t,” you reply. Defeating Bassett won’t mean anything if you die as well.

“Very good. Now, let’s get started.” Roth says, taking your left arm in his hand.

The operation begins.

...
...
...

After around three hours of operating, the day is nearing sunset. You’ve been as still as you can be during the operation, moving only when instructed to. Finally, Roth says the words you’ve been waiting for;

“All done.”

He helps you to your feet, and you look at your new arm. It certainly looks better than your old one.

“This arm is equipped with a few new features that I think you might like. First off, I upgraded the handgun augment, giving it red dot sight for more long range takedowns. Secondly, I upped the strength enhancers in both of your arms, and increased the durability of your jackknife to make sure you don’t break it. And lastly...” Roth moves his hand to your arm and presses a yellow button on your wrist. Four sheets of thick high-impact plastic spring from your wrist. “...The riot shield augment.”

“This is... Incredible.” You say, moving your new arm around as a test. You press the button again, putting the riot shield back away. You then flip out your jackknife. It’s slightly longer, and looks way more durable.

“Well, then. Now that you’re all fixed up, do you think you’re ready for the nightclub?” Roth asks.

>”Hell yeah.”
>”Not yet.”

“Hell yeah,” you reply. You flip the jackknife shut and run your hand up your new arm. “With this new power... Bassett won’t stand a chance.”

“I wouldn’t be so sure... You did a number on him as well. Don’t be surprised if he pulls out a new goodie or two as well.” Roth advises.

“Right,” you nod. “Thank you, Roth. But I’ve got to be going. You and Kyle hold down the fort, alright?”

“Don’t worry about us. You go do what you gotta do.”

You leave the operating room. “SEBASTIAN! ALICE!” You call loudly. The two of them soon run into the main hallway to meet you.

“Are we going yet?” Sebastian asks impatiently.

“Yeah. Sebastian, are you ready?”

“Yeah! Let’s get moving.” He says enthusiastically. Alice is silent.

“We’re going back to the city now. We can drop you off somewhere and leave you, if you like. Or you can come with us and fight. That’s up to you.” You say, walking off to the exit of the building. “But first... Sebastian, did you dig the hole?”

“Yeah.” He replies.

“Sebastian thought your brother deserved a proper burial. We were going to hold the funeral before we left.” You say as you push the door open. Outside stands a deep ditch with two iron bars nailed together, creating a cross. A body covered by a blanket rests near it.

“I... You two did that for me?” She asks quietly.

“Sebastian did.” You reply.

“...Thank you.” She says in a hushed voice.

The funeral proceeds for about forty minutes. Then night falls.

(1/2)
>>
>>31161094
So...we're gonna fuck her, right?
>>
>>31161094
Sebastian shovels the last bit of sand onto the pile.

“That’s that, then.” He says, dusting his hands off. Alice stands over the grave silently.

“Talos... You saved my life. Roth repaired my body. Kyle helped me to walk again. And Sebastian, you gave my brother a proper funeral..." Alice’s shoulders begin to shake as her tears make peace with the shifting sands below her. “I... I don’t know how I can repay you.”

“You don’t have to,” you reply.

“Yeah, that’s kinda the point of good deeds. If we did them for stuff in return, we’d just be trading services.” Sebastian says, leaning against his shovel.

“I will repay this kindness. I’ll help you fight the harvesters... For you, and for my brother.” She swears.

“Then let’s get going. We’ve got work to do.” You utter, walking towards the car.

The three of you leave as the sun sets over the grave, and the gentle wind pushes sand against the iron cross.

...
...
...

Your car finally finds the road, the desert disappearing gradually as you enter the city. You wonder where this nightclub is. “The Rogue”, was it? You try to think of a way to locate it.

“Do you know anyone in the city who might go to nightclubs, Talos?” Alice asks.

“I have a friend who works at this diner... She might know where it is.” You suggest.

“Sounds like a plan, then. Where’s the diner?” Alice asks.

“Not far,” you reply. After a short drive, you pull the car into the diner’s small parking lot. You’re about to get out, when you remember that it’s possible your face is known by the harvesters now. You don’t want to put Julie at risk. “Sebastian, go into that diner and buy a coffee. Ask for a waitress named Julie, and ask her if she knows where the Rogue nightclub is.” You instruct.

“Why me?” He protests.

“Because if I’m seen with her, it could be dangerous for her. Go.”

Sebastian grumbles something under his breath and exits the car.

...
...
...

“What’s taking him so long?” Alice asks. It’s been a half hour and he still isn’t out. The possibility that the harvesters could’ve been waiting in the diner suddenly occurs to you.

“Shit... He could be in trouble in there.” You say, putting your hand on the car door. You stop. If this really is a trap, wouldn’t going in just spring it? You need to think hard about this.

You decide to stay put and wait for another fifteen minutes. If this is a trap, then going into it would only make things worse. You sit stalwart at the wheel and wait. After about ten minutes, you’re getting ready to plan a rescue when the door to the diner opens. Sebastian walks outside, looking quite cheerful, and comes back to the car. He opens the door and sits down in the passenger seat.

“Man, that friend of yours is nice. We should come here more.” He says, a stupid smile present on his face.

“What took you so long? Did you get the location of the Rogue?” You ask impatiently.

“What? Oh, that. Yeah, it’s two blocks down from the Flagon.”

“That only answers my second question.”

“Oh, I figured it’d be suspiscious to just ask and leave. So I started with some small talk.”

“Forty minutes of small talk.”

“Yes.”

I don't know what we're going to do with this guy. Ejecting him from our outfit will only mean he gets himself killed after telling the harvesters everything about is during interrogation.

If we try to tie him down and make him our secretary, he'll get antsy and probably sneak off to shoot harvesters himself. Then the above situation.

We keep taking him with us he'll put our operations in jeopardy like he's doing.

"R-right. My bad."

You back out of the parking lot and drive towards the Rogue. It's finally time to show Bassett what you're made of, and find this Raizer bastard. It's a short drive to the Rogue, luckily. But since Sebastian took so long, it's pretty late anyway.

The two of them exit the car and walk up to the front as you go around the back.

"Kyle, you have my position?" You ask.

"Yeah. I'll keep you posted." He says. "There's a lotta people in the club, though. Body counts will be unreliable until you get underground."

"Yeah, there's one right over-"

You interrupt the guard with a quick flip of your jackknife and a knife to the heart. You can definitely feel the difference between this one and your old one; it's way easier to maneuver. You rip the knife from him and slash the other guard's throat before the first body hits the ground. You lift them both up and hurl them into a nearby dumpster, then continue on your mission. You don't have time to harvest small-fries.

The loud beat of the dance music penetrates even to the back end of the building. The repetitive nature of the music is almost hypnotic. It makes you feel slightly drowsy at first, but you shrug it off and continue. You can hear two men conversing behind a closed door.

We aren't dressed much differently then those two we killed, right? Just act like we belong here, say you're going to the get a beer like that one guy if they stop you.

Second.

You simply continue walking like you're supposed to be there. The guards end up just running past you. Whatever Sebastian did, it must've been pretty bad. The whirring of the machine is getting louder as you walk, but otherwise the place is silent. You can't hear any movement or speaking.

You come across an open room which must be for operating, as you can see a table and a lot of supplies just walking past it.

You decide to ignore the room. You haven't got time for that right now; you're on a mission. You continue walking down the hallway, and now you begin to hear voices around a corner. You walk up to the edge of the wall and listen to them speak. They're just talking about average things, like their lives and their hobbies.

"Two bodies at the end of the next hallway. One body in the room after it. Look alive." Kyle transmits.

>Attempt to bluff your way past the guards, then kill them while their guard is down
If we try to use a noise they could call to report it before investigating. Assuming these guys can act professionally.

I don't want to gamble on that. If our bluff fails then best case is we cut them down without alerting anyone. Worst case we just go loud. Bluffing is the safest bet.

>>Attempt to bluff your way past the guards, then kill them while their guard is down
We shouldn't make the kind of noise that alerts the big guy behind the door.
>>

bluffing doesn't really work here

"Hey, I was sent back to help stand guard because of that incident upstairs requiring so much attention." You say as you walk around the corner.

"Ugh... I can't believe someone would do that in public." One guard mutters.

"I honestly feel a little personally offended that the guy would do something like that here... And thinking about it makes me feel like I need a shower." The other guard says quietly. Whatever Sebastian did, it scares you.

You walk up to the guards, acting like you're about to join them in protecting the door when you pull your jackknife. You wildly slash and hack in all directions and without mercy. You then flick the blood off of your blade as the two guards turn into blood fountains, staining the walls and floor red.

"Very good, Talos. There's just the last body behind that door." Kyle notifies you.

Get a shield of some kind, and knock down the door with enhanced reflexes turned on.

You mean like the kind we have built in to our arm?

Why do i get the feeling either Sebastian is going to be dead when we get done, or we will want to kill him ourselves for doing something completely stupid?
>>
>>31171009
He probably shat on the bar.
>>
>>31170787
Prep jackknife and riot shield. Knock on door.
>>
>>31171102
>shat on the bar.
Or pissed on it.
It was most likely some form of public urination/defecation.

As much as I'd like to scold him for it, it did work.
>>
>>31171139
Really fucking well, at that.
>>
>>31171102
>>31171139
It did work true, But considering he has seemed to be a fanboy to us somewhat im worried that he did something he thought we would do. Im just kinda worried what he thought would be ok in our view if he tried to do something he thought we would do.
>>
>>31171179
Yeah... Let's hope he didn't kill anybody. Cause, it's basically that or knock on a door. Then kill someone.
Really, we like to kill people.
>>
You press the yellow button on your left arm, your riot shield's four folds popping out. Your jackknife is out. You activate enhanced reflex, strength, and movement speed. You then knock on the door.

"It's open," a familiar voice that makes you angry immediately replies.

You slowly crack open the door, only to see Bassett standing on his desk, already pointing his minigun straight at you.

"You should learn to knife people more quietly." He says as the barrels begin spinning rapidly.

You lift your riot shield up and run forward, the shield managing to tank through the minigun fire.

You close the distance quickly and leap into the air, cranking back your arm.

"You're MINE!" You shout, throwing a high velocity shield bash at your foe. It connects with his chest hard and sends him flying backwards, his back slamming into the wall and cracking it. You can already feel the rage moving through you. Your eye twitches and your fists clench. Though you try to fight it, a large grin spreads across your face as you throw back your head in laughter. You can't even stop-- seeing Bassett in pain is just too funny.

While you laugh, your rival gets to his feet and takes aim once more.

"No." You say, planting your foot on his desk. You press down on it, tipping it over towards you as you grab it with both arms. Your new augmented strength allows you to lift the entire desk. You begin laughing madly once more as you throw it into the poor bastard, the hard wooden desk cracking over his body.

"It's over," you say through your laughter. "I've-" suddenly, you feel a tense pain in your chest.

You drop to your knees as the bullet wound stings you, the pain rippling throughout your entire body.

"Talos! Sebastian got kicked out of the club, he can't distract them anymore! The guards are coming down, get out of there!" Alice says to you in an urgent tone.

"Talos, your vitals are fluctuating! Whatever you're doing, you need to leave and rest!" Kyle yells. "You need t-"

"So... Many... VOICES..."

You unleash a loud howl of pain and grab the communication augment from your neck, ripping it out of your body. You stand at your feet again and stare down at Bassett, crushed under the desk. You hear footsteps behind you and turn to see eight armed guards pointing their weapons at you.

"Stand down. We'd prefer to take you alive, but we won't hesitate to shoot." One of the guards says sternly.

>Grab the bag of teeth from your coat as a warning to the guards (intimidate)

This. Fuck it, we didn't come this far just to get nailed by low level grunts.
>>
You grab the bag of teeth from your coat and hurl it to the ground, the bloody teeth scattering across the floor. You begin to laugh again as the guards noticeably become scared.

"Come on, then. Anyone who's feeling brave, come arrest me. Preferably someone with a good set of teeth." You say, the grin ever present on your face.

While the guards are still frightened, you decide it's time to stop playing with your food. You raise your jackknife and pounce.

...
...
...

The battle was short and horrifying. The blood of many adorns the room now, teeth and limbs strewn about the office like you busted open the pinata at a demon's birthday party. Every guard is now dead... Except one. He holds his gun in his hands shakily, sweating bullets as you stare him down like a wolf standing over a sheep. He's been completely paralysed in fear. You walk forward untik your face and his are inches apart, pushing his gun out of his hands and onto the ground.

"Let's see that smile." You say, grabbing his face and prying his mouth open. Apparently that was enough to jump-start his heart, because the scream he unleashes is the loudest thing you've ever heard. And boy, does it sound beautiful.

Dammit, Talos, you're leaving a man with a minigun for an arm still able to move his arm, even if he's trapped under a desk.
We'll torture the thug, record the video, and send it to Raizer later; first we need to make sure that Bassett is properly neutralized so that we can take our time with him later.
>>
>>31172353
With all of the guards out of the way, you finally have some alone-time with Bassett. You'd like to carve up his face and kill him on the spot for what he did to you. Just as you're about to do so, Sebastian and Alice enter the room.

"Talos, stop!" Alice cries out.

"You need to hold back, man! He knows where Raizer is!" Sebastian shouts.

They're right. You aren't thinking straight. This isn't you. You grip your head and attempt to force the bloodlust out of your mind, but it just won't go.

"You're not like this, Talos! You're you. You can hold back!" Alice yells.

"I... Can't..." You say through gritted teeth. You raise your jackknife above Bassett and prepare to strike down as your grin and laugh return in full force. Suddenly, you feel something... A pair of arms around you.

"Talos, stay calm. You're not like this, and we know that." She says to you. Sebastian's hand soon clasps your shoulder as well.

"You're too strong for this, man. I know you can hold back." He says to you, smiling confidently.

You feel the anger and bloodshed begin to leave your mind, and you retract your jackknife.

"...Thank you. Thank you both." You say quietly. You lift Bassett up onto your shoulders and get to your feet. "Let's get this fucker home. We've got more in store for him yet."

As the three of you leave, you can't help but ask the question that's been on your mind for awhile.

"Sebastian, what DID you do to distract the guards?" You ask.

"Well, uh..." He leans in close to you and whispers something in your ear.

You promptly bend over and vomit.

[ That's all for tonight, folks! Until next time! ]

That's impressive.

Whatever he did, it was bad enough to make Talos vomit. Let that sink in; the dude who ripped out the teeth and limbs of an entire room full of people and was STILL thirsy for more blood was disgusted by it enough to vomit. Sebastian scares me.

Sebastian is the truly messed up one in our party. He's just better than Talos at hiding it.
