Previously: Asherah summoned herself into being during Asher's performance for the Sunday choir. Choice Hills Baptist fell under the purview of this goddess scorned. A woman uttered her reverence for Yahweh in her presence, a blasphemy that was answered with a “cleansing” from the goddess.

Tensions ran high with a new internal dispute between Asher and Aerin as one clearly disapproved of the others' way of handling things. With Aerin held at bay, Asher reasoned with the Goddess and helped her reach a conclusion that subsided her wrath.
With a parting blessing to a band of seven, the Goddess returned to her plane of existence, returning the place to a degree of sodden normalcy as Asher got to work awakening others.

After a trying skirmish with military forces, the party commandeered a truck to escape with a weakened Eshe.

Now: After accepting a gift from Lucifer and contracting the Wendigo Asher returns to the waking world, planning now what to do next given the precarious situation that they're in. The truck spins out and comes to a rolling stop, forcing the party to defend themselves from their assailants.

It is Currently July 6th, a Sunday afternoon.

Good evening, Dran. Hope you don't fall asleep again.

Gonna power QM today!
Tea and pushups!
>>
>>31169525
The pastebin isn't up to date.
>>
>>31169761
Getting to that. I literally just got home.
>>
>>31169525
Do we have 2 limit points?

If so, I suggest spending it on Materia Firma, so we can very subtly change the density of air to change the pitch of the sonic attack so it isn't damaging, which should take very little burn. I suggest putting it into MF instead of straight Aerokinesis because I figure being able to apply MF to Pyromancy will be more helpful in the fight than having lvl 2 Aero.

I also suggest emergency contracting an Ifrit (perhaps stipulate the contract is for this one summoning, so we don't need to take so long hammering out details) and summoning it from the blood of one of the dudes that was in the truck. Being beings of fire and sandstorm will be a lot more synergistic with the materials at hand since there's not gonna be any water, and he would probably enjoy friendly fire pyromancy.
>>
You hear the whirr of something loud outside of the truck, it's familiar and ominous. It's the same sound you heard from those black things back at the church. Armed with sonics capable of rupturing your eardrums, you can only wonder at the reason they'd go to the lengths of designing something so unconventional.

Eshe stirs, reacting to the noise,”They found us. We must fight again...” She slowly gets up, repositioning her enormous half-reptile half-giant body in a better stance for reacting instead of resting.

“They've got sonic weapons, it'll rupture our eardrums if they get too close.” You take stock of the machinery and see Helia getting up from her own little bit of stumbling. She too seems to be realizing the precarious situation you two are in- No water sources.

Hot Rod scrambles into the back, shutting the door between the cabin and the trailer,” Guys! Those black things are back! What the hell do we do?! Shit. Shit. Shit...”

“You get ready to shoot them, I saw you hit them from a blindside before. You need to do it again.” You point, dropping your finger to the gun tucked away in his pants.

He grabs for it, trembling a bit,”Yeah. Yeah. Okay.” He reaches for the gun. Still seeming really anxious despite having an iron.

You take stock of what you've got back here:

There are some things that definitely look like weapons, heavy looking guns that a human couldn't hope to wield unless they augmented their strength. Likely, it'd be the same caliber that those bastard mechs fired earlier. Tore the church apart.
You've got two corpses in the front. Likely you could use them to summon Donner. He'd appreciate that at least.
You could also entertain the idea of another summon. Donner had been ready enough to fight even though he'd just been summoned. May just be Wendigo nature though.
>>
You see Helia bending down to touch the metal floor even as she shivers, molding the plate into a crude armor for her hands, feet, and head. She stops to consider something else as she touches her frozen wounds.

>What's the plan?
>[] Summon Donner
>[] Begin a pyromancy incantation.
>[] Summon another being(Ifrit?)
>[] (Other)

Anything you'd like to tell your allies?

>>
>>31170046
Donner gains mass as he eats.
>>
>>31170053
Well then summon an ice wall on the left and right of him. Block some attacks.
>>
-Pyromancy{Advanced} [Apprentice]: Gifted by Lucifer, this magic incorporates flame as more than a mere combustion of matter. THis fire is far closer to magic. Allows divination for people and things that you've seen before. Automatically allows for any known enchanting to be applied. Does not require a fuel source to create fire.
>>
>>31170073
No water to work with.
>>
>>31170254
Well then just summon Donner
>>
>>31170017
>[] Summon Donner
from one of the corpses
>[] Summon another being(Ifrit?)
I still suggest summoning an Ifrit from the blood of the murdered (actually, they might not count as murdered, since they are soldiers, so perhaps there are no points to be scored there, but it couldn't hurt the summoning)
>[] (Other)
Still suggesting Materia Firma if we have the points. Maybe even a Warmup oath on non-divination use of Pyromancy.

>Anything you'd like to tell your allies?
Can Hot Rod potentially use the oversized guns?

>Then
I'd like to not get shot like fish in a barrel trying to leave a choke point, but I don't know if we have the alphastrike to take advantage of waiting for them to breach... Hot Rod shot, a lance of fire, maybe acid spit from Hydra or additional firepower from a hypothetical Ifrit.
I'm neutral on this more of a suggestion for others to think about.
>>
>>31170284
Most jinn would be pretty useful here I doubt it would learn to our orders without a contract.
>>
>>31170373

I meant listen.
>>
Uh huh... Updating pastebin as I wait.
I know it's a precarious situation.

Mind that you have-

Aeromancy and Pyromancy aside from summoning and you're looking at pretty much 0 burn right now so this is the best time to do something big if that's what you want.
>>
>>31170373
Hm, how'd it go with Donner at first? Wasn't he just kind of let loose, with lots of corpses around as a bit of collateral? Ifrit tend to like earthly things right? Perhaps we could promise him a Vegas party?
>>
>>31170017
Have Donner attack the squishiest targets first to gain strength. Use pyromancy once everyone is locked up in battle.

We need to at least tell our allies about our new pyromancy powers so they can plan around them. Maybe some encouragement for helia/hot rod too.
>>
Going with >>31170284 for the most part.

Need others approval before summoning an Ifrit.
>>
>>31170723
Voting against summoning Ifrit
>>
>>31170723
Since I'm not confident in our alphastrike, I'm suggest having Helia make an opening (preferably on the side of the truck away from the baddies, if possible) so we get out into better positioning, and not get shot immediately upon opening a door.
>>
>>31170723
I'd rather use the burn on a huge pyromancy spell. Ooh, can we use water sense to locate the pilots, then use pyromancy to cook them alive? As in, start a fire directly in the cockpit.
>>
>>31170897
I like this, though I think it was confirmed we can't detect a body's water at our current level. Think we'll have to wait until we have visual (possibly through raven, though we'd have to summon the ravens after engagement otherwise they'd get popped immediately).
If Warmup is happening then I'd like to
-Summon Donner
--power up to lvl 3
-Summon Hydra
--power up to lvl 3
-sever power cables if these mechs are using them (firma'd fire probably, since I imagine even at an effective rank of novice it'd be better at getting through a cable than firma'd air)reft even if it was effectively novice it'd be better at
in that order of priority until something on the list brings us to moderate burn, then switch to roasting a mech,
>>
You head to the front of the truck in a rush, calling back,”One of you take that gun, Hot Rod if you can handle it-”

“I will take it,” Eshe groans as she crawls over to grab the huge implement. She grasps the implement and hoists it up along with its enormous weight. It bears three barrels, a gatling gun huh?

Eshe looks it over, getting a feel for it as you glance to Hot Rod,”Back her up. A hand gun put one of them down before.”

You open up the door to the cabin as a shadow slips out of sight in the side-view mirror. They're headed for the back, likely they were checking for people in the front. You can see the border for the freeway up ahead, if you could punch the gas, you'd probably go right over it, granted if the damn truck can even move with what they did to it.

Touching one of the bodies you whisper the Wendigo's name, transferring power into the corpse to “wake it up,” growling as it hunches right over next to a once-comrade and bites through cloth, body armor, and flesh to sate his hunger.
[What do you want me to do summoner?]

“What I contracted you to do. Eat the shitheads outside.” You say, quickly ducking down as another of the shadows comes back around from the opposite side-view.

They're circling around, likely waiting for you guys, or some other signal.

How many are there? Two? Three?

You hear glass break above your head as a shrill noise enters the cabin. It's not as bad as before, at least this time it's not aimed to rupture eardrums.

A feast half-finished, Donner suddenly vaults from the cabin through the window, becoming the new target for those things' attacks as it circles him with skates whirring, blasting that grating noise at the Wendigo.
>>
[SUMMONER! THIS HURTS! I'LL KILL IT!] The Wendigo roars a nghastly inhuman roar in response to the hampering attack before lunging at the onyx assailant, only to be avoided swiftly and fluidly before being blasted by the sound again. A second comes up from behind, launching a spinning kick with a foot extended, the sudden extension of a blade leaves a large gash in Donner's cadavar.

He swipes back at the thing with an exaggerated, yet powerful haymaker claw, yet it's slid under, to deliver another shrill blast of the punishing sonic.

He's not going to last long like this.

>[] Feed him more power. He needs to be stronger.

Oh, and if we did upgrade Firma, pitch bending the sonics until they don't hurt would nice.
>>
>>31171196
>[] Feed him more power. He needs to be stronger.
We can hazard this. Our contract is pretty ironclad.
>[] Prepare a pyromancer's explosion with Materia Firma.
We can trust Eshe and Helia to use their own judgement, we aren't their nanny. Let's focus on our own performance.
>>
>>31171478
I dont know about that. Eshe is barely alive and Helia is... wel Helia.

Possible or no, we can make blood thicker, or short out important circuitry around the brain.
>>
>>31171575
Humans bear a natural magical resistance borne of their souls. Mage or not.

Bypassing this requires immense concentration and burn at a distance or direct contact.

Circuitry around the brain however may be a different story. You've yet to see what all is going on with these things. Cutting one open may be good to do if you somehow get a chance to do so.

Explosion. Preferably underneath them, so it can put them off balance.

Peeking out only slightly, you open up a floodgate for your power as your nerves heat up immensely for a mid-combat power-up of Donner. You notice the difference immediately as his body contorts and twists, further returning to his true form as a long whip-like tail of bone erupts from his backside and frost creeps over the cadavar, freezing its body over as it wails, gracing the air with a bit of cold breath.

In the next movement, it lashes out faster than before with a new predatory quickness, clipping one of the shadows as It suddenly veers back upon its skates to avoid the brunt of the blow.
It's thrown off balance and Donner sees it, lunging in for the kill, only to be knocked off of his attack by the partner thing.

The Wendigo's tail lashes out at the new attacker from behind, yet it ducks and quickly backs away upon its in-line wheels.

The two of them immediately back off after that attack, doubling the distance between them and Donner. In the next moment, they both retreat from Donner, leaving the summon alone. You're confused at first at why they would just give up like that, but then you realize-
They must know it's a summon.

Seeing a shadow from the side-view mirror you scramble back into the trailer, just in time to shut the door and mute the awful noise that screeches through, sending chills down your spine and a drop of hot sweat as you recall what it did to you the first time.

“We're sitting ducks in here. They're just biding their time like this.” You hiss out, as you get away from the door, keeping your eye glued to it, expecting it to get thrown open at any moment by those screeching mechanical monsters.

“Oh my god man, what the fuck are we going to do? They're gonna kill us aren't they? We're gonna die aren't we?!” Hot Rod breaks down, squatting down into a feeble position and rocking himself back and forth with a glock in his hand.
You kind of expected him to be cooler about things like this.
>>
You expected this kind of thing from Helia- but she. Giving her a look-over, the dirty blonde's set herself up with metal gauntlets, carefully molding them to her hands, red nails protrudig from them of what look like red ice. Her feet too, she's frozen blood into blades to accentuate that oddly familiar fighting style she picked up.

Eshe steadies her gun's barrels as she leans against the wall, her breathing still labored and stains of blood upon her face.

You figure that this is about as ready as you'll all be for now. Well, nothing more to do than to fight, right?

“I'm going to give us an exit ahead of the road. The way it is right now, this'll take us further up the road, the truck should be blocking all rear traffic. If we can get in a car, and Eshe on, we should be able to break away from pursuit after we kill them.”

You look back to the cabin. “Eshe, keep that gun aimed over there,” You point, not trusting that door to hold up.

You hear more of Donner's savage snarls through your connection with him. The things outside must be really giving him a hard time.

You take a deep breath and place your hands together, allowing for maybe about a fist of space.
>>
Letting the power of fire free, you begin your incantation.

“I call upon the flame of light,
to scorn and purge those in my sight”

Feeling the heat of your nerves along with the heat of the new flame gushing forth between your fingers, forcing a wider berth to keep them from searing your flesh.

“Gifted by the star of morning
Explode free like the light of day”

You feel the flames barely able to contain themselves as you add a firmness to them, the whole thing glowing like a hot coal at its core.

“Burn through the shadows within mine way!”

The explosion-to-be desires to be set free and you are willing to comply as your allies look on with a look of wonder.
Pressing the orb out, you direct it forward as the flames tear through the side of the truck, obliterating the devices in its way as it scorches the road after, persisting in some places as it “sticks” with the added trait, giving you and your allies a pathway of fire.
You see before you one of the shadows got hit by the blast, laid out on the concrete with a good thickness of shrapnel protruding from its center.

You can finally get a good look at one of these things now. Their head is clad in a full-black reflective exterior that wraps around their head. Like a black dome, reminding you of thise hidden surveillance cameras. The body is clad in similarly black armor, like a chitinous exoskeleton of metal, giving them an almost “insect” appearance. Its wheels whir with futility against the air, a double set of wheels in black inline skates. Their movements definitely suggest that they're motorized, and their hands are clad in claws with translucent tips that actually almost sparkle. Is that... Diamond?

You can hear its allies wheeling around to see the damage, the roar of Donner not far behind.

>>
Ah.
>Current Burn: Moderate(Low)

>>31172669
You'd go up to Moderate(High) and still have three portions of the Severe threshold left.

If you're wondering why you're already at Moderate, it's primarily from empowering Donner.
>>
>>31172611
This. Though I was thinking perhaps we could use something of a fire whip instead, cut through our enemies with its materia firma.
>>
Just because fire is our newest toy doesn't mean that we need to use it. no watter around, but we could summon something else. I say we summon something that can fly.
>>
>>31172525
I'm down with Donner delivering the coup de grace

Don't see the point of a wall of fire unless it is made solid, even then I'd rather move it around to corral the mech and keep it from targeting Asher or moving where it wants, until it can we can catch it and turn up the heat.
>>
>>31172525
You're free to eat it, Donner, so long as you describe where the flesh hooks up after. It'll help to learn where these things are weak.
>>
You relay the presence of food to Donner and he comes leaping over the truck, just as one of the wraiths comes around, forcing it to take a sudden evasive maneuver in which it becomes a literal blur as it nearly flickers out of the way of the Wendigo's landing.

As it catches sight of you, Hunter, and Helia looking through the new hole in the truck, it dips out of the way as you hear it release something like hissing steam before strafing around to a blindside.
The Wendigo lunges for the corpse, receiving another one of those screaming attacks from the wraith's extended hands, only giving the Wendigo a small pause before it goes down, seeking out the stomach for flesh.

After some bites it shakes its head in disgust,[Awful. These things are awful.] It spits out wires and other bits, preferring to crush the thing's head with a sudden stomp, dashing it against the pavement.

Amidst the roar of the flames, you hear a distant dull beating now that you're outside, a helicopter's coming to make your acquaintance too. Motherfucker, this shit just doesn't end.
Wait, weren't there more of these things?

Before you there's an empty road, no cars as far as you can see from this side of the divide. None on the other as a matter of fact. You all drove a pretty long damn time looking for a proper semi to hijack.

You're outside in the middle of a damn desert without any water and not a goddamn clue for far you are from Vegas.

The fucked up military drones are only making this matter worse for you.

The black-clad enemies are nowhere to be found as you look back and forth, Donner picking out the good bits of flesh from the corpse, often spitting out little pieces of wire and metal.

They must be hiding on the other side of the truck, biding time for reinforcements. It's something of a stalemate.

You move, they ice you. You don't move, they get backup.

Welp. I think cooling fluid is supposed to be sweet, at least I think so from what I know about cars. Then again, I don't know much. Even if there is fluid in the machines, since we can't use gas, I assume we can't use coolant either.

I say we just try to use pyrokinesis to spawn some fire inside the gas tank of the helicopter or something similarly liable to fuck the thing up.

Have Eshe fire on the shadows instead, and if the helicopter is down already, we should give her some basic assistance, like using aerokinesis to buffet the Shadows, forcing them to miss attacks and such.
>>
>Writing
>>
>>31173655
I don't think we can defend her without ice.. unless we tell the dego or hydra to do it. I still think hunter should try to get away somehow. At least maybe he can draw away some heat, we need to bring the offensive. Ifrit?
>>
The situation dire as reinforcements are en route, you work on the beginnings of a plan with what you've got to on hand. So many possibilities here, you just need to see them.

“Eshe, bring down the chopper, the rest of us will cover you.” You say, and the lizard-woman leaps out of the truck, the ground groaning beneath her as desert-dust parts from her landing.

You instruct Donner to attack things to the right, and Helia leaps out of the truck, hitting the pavement upon red ice-skates, keeping her balance with careful motions back and forth to keep her moving ever so slightly.

As Eshe unloads, she receives some return fire that scatters around her for the most part, with the odd round finding its way into her armored body.

The slugs cause her some recoil, though it's not quite enough to deter the zealot from her mission. She lnes up the big gun and locks it to fire, the barrels whirring as they warm up before the spray marked only by tracer rounds leap out, hissing through the air at the choppe.

As soon as it begins, the wraiths whir out of hiding, flanking Eshe, Donner, and Helia from either side, a pincer attack marked by instant explosions of their signature screaming weapon.
Helia's ears bleed for a moment before freezing over the same and a dance beginning between her and her foe as Donner snarls and swipes at his new prey, finding that one on one is much easier against these things.

With frozen crimson blades, Helia swipes at the black thing's head, meeting only air as the thing catches her at the wrist, extending her arm for that breaking maneuver that one of the last ones did.
Not a natural-borne fighter, the sudden move claims her again as a palm is thrust into her elbow, forcing it inward and dislocating it with a sickening crunch that forces her to scream. A slide in and a palm up to her jaw forces her mouth closed as a second trigger of the sonics forces her to pass out from inner damage.

The thing puts her down, not bothering to finish her off as it goes straight for Eshe afterwards.

Not willing to let these things have their way after Helia's dismal performance, you snap your fingers to compress the air into a spot, increasing density before letting a flame erupt into that pocket, making the thing eat an explosion point-blank that forces it back and away, with it's forward attention now upon you- it noticed.

Your heart sinks a bit as you realize that you're next on the list, but a sudden blood-red blade cleaves through its side as Helia springs back to action with a severe blue-white glow flowing from her body that paints the red ice on her hands and feet.

As the thing reacts only to late to the damage, it centers another sonic blast from a palm upon Helia in its retreat as its wheels spin backwards.
With a sudden flash of red white and blue, the thing's arm is cut deeply in two places before a skate comes around the back of its head, claiming what would be its brain stem with a particularly cruel spike if the red ice.
>>
Bringing the thing down into the asphalt, Helia moves directly onto the one that Donner's tangling with, throwing a mix of metal and ice that the machine reflexively dodges at blinding speeds before pausing and letting out a hiss of steam as some panels rise up.

Your eye catches that. They're releasing heat from those bullshit fast moves. They must need to.

Hunter fires a single shot at the thing and that too is dodged as though the bullet's in slow motion, the thing slipping around the trajectory before delivering a focused sonic blast to the berseking Helia.

She seems to lose focus for a moment in her lunge, and that's all the thing needs to increase the distance between itself, her, and Donner.

With its ally fallen, you hear the crash of the helicopter not too far after.

The thing releases its heat in a hiss after dodging the shot...

>Burn Moderate(Medium)
>[] What'll you do now?
>>
>>31174410
Tell Donner to keep it moving fast. If it tries to stop and open the panels, close them. Eventually, it will overheat, and simply collapse.
>>
>>31174410
Can we use aerokinesis to keep the hot air from leaving? If so lets try that
>>
>>31174410
Keep the steam in place, or even reverse the flow, but heat it up even more in any case.
>>
>>31174410

You relay for Donner to press his attack, lashing out with a tail cracking at the speed of sound that's dodged by more centimeters by the black suit's insane speed. A second sudden swipe, along with Helia striking from what would've been a blind spot upon a normal person and the thing is forced to react a second time, dodging and speeding up handily as heat begins to pour off of its body.

Hunter fire's another shot and that's a third sudden need for speed that it also dodges, quickly skating its way backwards as it places its two assailants between itself and Hot Rod.

You see the thing's panels flick open and you figure that's about enough, sending a gout of fire up from the ground to wrap around the thing and halt it in its tracks as the heat can only find more heat between the desert sun and the fire surrounding it.

The thing panics trying to break free with another sudden blurring move and then you see it, its arm twitches out of control, its head lowered and shaking violently as the thing falls to its knees from the assault of overheating. A moment later, it ceases to move, apparently ending its functionality as it collapses, cracking its helm upon the pavement and lying there, listless.

You finally step out of the truck, deeming it reasonably safe as Donner seems to sniff around. [Nothing to eat.] The wendigo dismisses itself, disappearing along with its cadavar.

The tense situation relaxes for the moment, though it stands to be true that:
1. There aren't any goddamn cars.
2. This is another fucking desert.
3. They know you're here and going to Vegas.

Time for a travel summon. Anyone have any ideas? I don't think luci's reward involved any demon summoning. Maybe a sandworm would be a good idea, travel underground in its bowels.

>I'd rather you guys try it and find out.
heh, that's not exactly the kind of thing you just try out. First you start with a camera, then a labrat, then a potential victim you don't mind experiencing exceptional results; perhaps skipping straight to the victim if you don't care about precautions.
>>
>>31175217

>>
>>31175237
while we'd need some plan for it to still go smoothly in the case were the summon just disappears, leaving the human; the potential for thoughtforms to take material with them is weird. while I think the sand wurm is a bit silly (and possibly too big to actually pull off), I think the point is that it would travel subterraneously, and thus be better at avoiding the military than other options.

Eshe relaxes, dropping the absurd gatling gun onto the concrete, finding that its weight causes a crack to form upon the heated blacktop. Shrugging her reptilian shoulders, she doesn't look any worse for wear than before.
“We should move.” She looks down the road,”It will be a long walk.”

Helia pants, her chest heaving up and down from the assault on those things, she stares at you with half-wild eyes, and then to the others as her fatigue catches up, and her blades retract back into her body, thawing quickly into her own red blood.

You stare, giving her no small amount of scrutiny,”Helia you... you used your own blood?”

She just smiles at you, though a bit sadly before pointing to her ears that slowly ooze blood as her shivers return. Ruptured again, she won't be able to hear you or anyone for a while. Shit.

Hot Rod grips his iron with a bit of anxiety as everything winds down. He's the first one to really examine the wraith's corpses, looking over them warily, it's almost as though he expects one to just jump up and grab him. This keeps him on edge.

“Hot Rod, you froze up back there. The fuck happened?” You ask the kid, staring at him with your one eye and very visible disappointment before you kick over one of the bodies, examining the claws and their more valuable components.

“Sorry... Sorry... I just don't really know what to do man..” The kid scratches his head, other hand on his gun.

“Thought you figured this shit out. You've done good before-”

“I knew I had a gun that worked before! Those things dodged all these freaking shots I took! Those robots or whatever they were from before would've just felt a tickle from this piece of shit.”Hot Rod throws the gun down in frustration, looking down at it and its newly bent barrel,” Dude, I don't got shit on all this.”
>>
“Yeah, and you know that it's not really my place to figure out. Why don't you go ahead and make your arms made of guns?”

Hot Rod looks at you, incredulous. He can't believe what the fuck he just heard, but then he looks at Eshe and then it dawns on him... “I could turn my hands into guns...”

You droop your jaw at him. You can't believe he took you seriously as you roll your eyes.

Looking down at the road ahead, you resolve the you don't want to walk, that you don't feel like walking. It's time to ride in style.

Extending both of your palms to either side you begin to utter a little incantation to summon something.

>The Sand Wurm.

You aim to make it big and grand, the size of this truck actually so that all of you have a place to sit or lay down during your travel....

You summon forth all the power that you can to touch the great beast within your mind that is the sand wurm, yet it's too much for your fatigued brain to wrap your mind around as you push and push again for it to realize itself into reality.

You don't stop, your efforts are fruitless, but you're okay.

You're not dead yet, and still walking on your feet.

I wanted to address a concern of mne for balancing summoning just a little.

PATCH NOTES

>Mythos summons remain unchanged in terms of what can be summoned and the powers that they can have.
*However*
>Mythos summons have obviously preferred mediums despite the fact that they don't necessarily need them. To use this mediums you must have relevant magic.

>Thoughtforms may be given any magic that ASHER knows as a part of their creation. This includes spells, enchantments, and their mediums.
This must be done to limit free power creation just a bit. This still allows for free scouts and a free extra body on the field. Though as you've seen, there are some enemies that will chose to adjust tactics.

In short
>Mythos may only be bound to something you already have magic for.
>Thoughtforms may only receive powers that Asher knows.

That shit was just bugging me.

Also this will apply for alchemy to an extent. Learning the four cardenals and the principle of the 5th will unlock it, however to create life you'll need to dig into relevant life magics and so on.
It still remains useful for converting matters and the like, however
electrolysis to turn water into oxygen+hydroden will require lightning derived from air, manipulation and creation of metals will require a require relevant metal/ferrokinesis.

If you manage to create something without the relevant kinesis/mancy it will be immovable to Asher

This is all done to help me keep the encounters interesting for a longer period of time and prevent me from needing to create absolutely horrible broken enemies from too early on. This is still meant to be a bit early in the time of magic and Asher is still fresh off of the "awakening camps."
>>
>>31179956
>>Thoughtforms may only receive powers that Asher knows.
I think that with high enough summoning levels, thoughtforms should be able to get powers that Asher doesn't have. Something like 3 or 4 tiers below summoning's rank. This would make it so master rank could create something with Novice-equivalent magics in something the summoner himself lacks.

The main allure of summoning is that it can make things that the summoner can't himself do. Completely shitting on it just kills summoning.

Also, could you expand on what you mean by "Also this will apply for alchemy to an extent." ?

Will it still be able to turn summons into physical beings and do things like give Asher a magic replacement eye? If it can't, then I don't want it. It already has a ton of requirements and tacking even more on top of that just doesn't look worth it if it's getting nerfed.
>>
>>31180078
Sure, but how then would you boil water for soup and other goods?

>>31180102
Can do.

>>31180053
Possible, yes. We can do that. I'd rather put that as something for Expert rank summoning and make it novice ranked magic for thoughtforms.

>>31180121
Summon a phoenix? Possible, yes. Though I'm uncertain that Asher tin how much it'll approve of Asher.

If we were looking at this from SMT, I'd say he's already quite a bit chaos over the neutral leaning into Law that Phoenix would be.

Could work, but it might need a bit of convincing.
The rebirth part of it may end up useless, but the possibility of Phoenix tears healing wounds is there.
>>
>>31180170
>Sure, but how then would you boil water for soup and other goods?
Pyromancy?

Using Materia Firma? We could make a pot out of Ice that boils the water inside it if we wanted to.
>>
>>31180170
Easy. "Serve me for one year, and at the end of that year I shall summon for you a mate while releasing you from my service. You can go out and live how you will after that."
>>
>>31180163
>Will it still be able to turn summons into physical beings
With relevant life-magics, yes. And it can still create things with unnatural magical properties.

I know things look bad at first when they get nerfed, but I'd like to point out that fulfilling the requirements for it isn't even wasted magic. You're at 3/4 cardinal elements and can now spontaneously create fire without even the need for air to burn.

This is already covering Asher's weakness of needing water at this level you ran into this very thread.

Alchemy is more of a fundamental support that opens up more options and freely allows conversion of material through the magics that you know.

It's still really good, just less gamebreaking.

>>31180188
I hope you know I was making a funny. Pyromancy is entirely better than steam. Though you'd lack the ability to make solid steam and vapor constructs.
It can be worth it, but there are definite tradeoffs.
>>
>>31180170
With enough Summoning ranks, could we just summon up the phoenix and force it to cry into a bottle?
>>
>>31180225
...can we unlock shadowmancy (or whatever)
>>

Umbrakinesis.

Probably branches off of Photokinesis.

Might be able to get it from Lucifer. Maybe. doubt it
>>
>>31180267

>>
>>31180170
For making thoughtforms that have magic Asher does, are they capped at his rank? Like, could we make something right now that has higher than Novice Aerokinesis?

Because if they're not limited by Asher's rank, and only require that he has Novice, then this actually encourages Summoners to have lots and lots of Novice-rank spells.

>Possible, yes. We can do that. I'd rather put that as something for Expert rank summoning and make it novice ranked magic for thoughtforms.
Ok, sounds fair.
>>
>Try to summon a phoenix
>Get a little black kid
>It's Omar
What do?
>>
>>31180053
>>Also, could you expand on what you mean by "Also this will apply for alchemy to an extent." ?

If you'd want to make a homunculus, you'd need by some extension life magics to turn it into a full carbon flesh and blood being.
Florakinesis could do to make it a plant or wood-based life form.

The cardinals alone would not allow for this.

However with the cardinals you could convert earth into water, air, or fire respectively.

It's basically a magic that grows more powerful with the more spells you know. It's the answer, solution, and pinnacle of a nerve/vein that's chosen no one specific thing.

In later game, it answers itself as high environment manipulation, creation of permanent objects, conversion of one thing to another, etc.

It'll still allow for all the things that you guys talked about eventually. Right along with all the other magics required to get there.

From purchase, you could still turn all the air of a room into water or fill a space with sudden ROCKS.

ROCKS FALL EVERYONE DIES.

>>31180309
>Because if they're not limited by Asher's rank, and only require that he has Novice, then this actually encourages Summoners to have lots and lots of Novice-rank spells.

>>31180288
>Pyromancy
I didn't know that slender was fiery.
>>
>>31180354
wait wait wait.

Now Alchemy can only change water/air/fire/earth into one of the other three at the point of acquisition? You need to have acquired a -kinesis/-mancy involving a substance to use Alchemy that involves that substance at all?
That's fucking horrible. Absolutely terrible.

Why would anyone ever get Alchemy?
>>
>>31180377
Actually, there's quite a bit of depictions. Several creepypastas I've read show slenderman's original showing up being that someeone perceived him as a silhouette against a backdrop of flames.
>>
>>31180404
Adding to that, you said that some people end up with Alchemy as their Natural spell. How would they even do anything? They couldn't use do -anything- with it starting out.
>>
>>31180404
I'm inclined to agree. I'm glad we hadn't had a chance to learn geokinesis yet because it would have just been a huge waste.
>>
>>31180404
>>31180451
Depends on how strict/loose the interpretations of fire, air, water, and earth are. If Earth covers any and all types of rocks and metals and whatever, and air covers all gasses, and water covers all liquids, and fire is a stand-in for energy, then it's pretty good.
>>
>>31180470
Do you know how much energy is inside just one gram of matter?

A nuclear bomb's worth. That's how much.
>>
>>31180486
I doubt that Novice alchemy will let us nuke shit with pebbles. The entire point of Dran's changes were to make the skill less broken though it looks like he went and beat it to death.
>>
>>31180470
In alchemy Earth represents all solids, Water represents all liquids, Air represents all gases, and Fire represents energy.
>>
>>31180497
Maybe no novice, but even a single molecule converted fully will wreck a city block. ADEPT ALCHEMY IS A GO
>>
>>31180404
>>31180451

How about this then: Life magics are still required to give life to an alchemical organism.

Reactions may be performed between cardinal elements at novice>apprentice.

Then adept unlocks the ability to create beyond that. With a lack of ability to directly control something you create without the magic for.

In other words, converting soil into gold without ferrokinesis results in the caster being unable to control the gold.
However with ferrokinesis even that comes into control.

Though in this case, and it bashes my first point about life magics, you could create a body with full capacity to draw breath at expert alchemy, though you wouldn't necessarily puppet them.

Expert and above also allows the creation of permanent materials with broken physics based on your enchantments.

>>31180420
They'd be able to cause reactions but not directly control anything.

>>31180412
I've seen that one.

Another note: Part of this change is so that I don't need to try to restrict encounter frequencies and limit LIMIT rewards.

>>31180527
I'd thought about this point here in alchemical mythos. My other solution would be opening up some of the more broken bits, but require the cardinals to be improved before Alchemy is on the table.

If you want to master alchemy, you gotta master the fundamentals. Would that be a sound compromise? Mostly disregarding the other "fixes?"
>>
>>31180550
Now, question. Do you encourage or Discourage slenderman's summoning?
>>
>>31180470
>>31180527
I don't think that's the case going by what Dran said in >>31180354 and >>31180225 and >>31179956

We need to get more -kinesis/-mancy to make Alchemy work with everything.

Earth doesn't cover metals. We can't even turn water into Hydrogen and Oxygen without electrokinesis.
>>
>>31180566
It'd be interesting.
And it would say nothing.

I don't see why you're trying to link the control of materials to Alchemy at all. Alchemy should be able to turn anything into anything else.
If we don't have the -kinesis/-mancy to control what we create, then that's just how it is, but not having Ferrokinesis should not stop an alchemist from being able to turn a rock into gold.
>>
>>31180580
...can we summon Nuckalavee?
>>
>>31180550
Wait how would Chinese alchemy work? It is slightly different from Hermetic alchemy.

>Pyromancy
>Photokinesis

>>
>>31180550
Where does turning summons into physical beings fit into all this? Because Alchemy looks like it's just become one big disjointed clusterfuck.

>implying summoning an angel isn't suicidal

Point. Though it should at least stop a novice or an apprentice.

Welp, I'm gonna read about that now.

What about the whole "Nuking things with anything" using Alchemy that some people seem to think would be possible?
>>
>>31180712
>>31180694
How about a demon, then? Let's get umbrakinesis stat!
>>
>>31180731
It's suicidal but possible.
>>
>>31180712
Can we use Pyromancy with Illusion?
>>
>>31180738
The thing is that Nerve magic doesn't really require you to be up close. We could do it from a few miles away looking through the eyes of a summoned raven.
>>
>>31180712
Would it be possible for us to summon a Solar Dragon egg? And raise one from that stage?
>>
>>31180752
>We could do it from a few miles away
That is still too close
>>
>>31180731
Would you be confident in Asher's ability to keep the blast from including him?
Because it'd take a lot more power trying to defend against the explosion and then of course there's the nuclear fallout.

>>31180739
Yes.

>>31180752
Standing at a distance is fine. Though targeting through a raven may incur some penalties.

>>31180768
I'm not familiar and I don't like what google is showing me. Tell me about this.
>>
>>31180794
>Though targeting through a raven may incur some penalties.
I think we might actually want the penalties if the main concern is being too good at making a stupid-big explosion.

What about making a dedicated spotter summon?

https://sites.google.com/site/pathfinderogc/bestiary/monster-listings/dragons/dragon-outer/outer-dragon-solar/solar-dragon-ancient

It's essentially a dragon that emits primal, solar energy. Though I suppose a lunar dragon would be a better choice:

What about a summon that's designed to go do the nuking itself? We can make thoughtforms that have the same magic that Asher does, so what about making a bird that flies to a place, then converts its own body into energy?
>>
>>31180995

giggity~

That'd be too much fuckin energy...why not just have Hotrod shoot a bullet that's actually a thoughtform we made?

Yeah. Take a stick of dynamite and light it, you get a boom. Alchemy it into pure energy and you get a boom that's about 17billion times bigger.

>>31181353
Eh. That's actually one of the primary reasons I was aiming for the nerf. It's also why that's going to be in higher ranks of alchemy.
>>
>>31181487
Wanting to nerf Alchemy a bit so that you can just "lelbreadbots" your way through every encounter? Fine. Reasonable, even.

The way you tried to do it where you can't transmute things unless you have the related -kinesis/-mancy skill? Fucking horrible.
>>
>>31181594
>can just
can't just*
>>
>>31181487
So, lemme just see if I got this right

>Alchemy can be used to convert between air/water/earth/fire right out the gate (Novice and Apprentice) Seems pretty piss-poor, but whatever. It gets better.

>Adept lets you turn anything into anything else.
>It does not allow you to control what you create once it's been created. You need the relevant -kinesis/-mancy for that, so if you transform a material into something you can't control, then you can't control it. (You could transmute it back into something you can control, though)
>Adept also lets you start mixing Summoning with Alchemy.
>It can also convert matter into energy, but good fucking luck not blowing yourself up with that

>Expert+ lets you make broken shit that tells physics to go choke on dicks
>Expert removes most of the penalties associated with mixing Summoning and Alchemy.
>>aka this is the point where Asher gets his magic eye and redundant organ systems.

>Master+ lets you make life, though it's kind of a shitshow unless you have some life related magics (ex: Florakinesis would work for plant-based life Alchemy)

>Divine does hilariously broken shit because everything does at that rank.
>>
>>31182128
Yes.
>>
>>31182361
Welp. That means it's going to cost us 12 LIMIT to get it to a point where it's at all useful. 20 to get it to a point where it's good.
>>
>>31182128
Guys. I figured out how to into healing

Florakinesis > Fungalkinesis > Viral Kinesis > curing people who are sick > healing
>>
>>31182746
Or Divine rank Hydrokinesis/mancy (I think that Asherah might upgrade our HK to HM for this next job. That'd be neat.)

Or using Alchemy to do it. Or Summoning.
>>
>>31182778
Healing is its own class of spell, like Divination or Cryomancy.
>>
>>31182830
You can either get the separate spell version or you can get it from a different spell that has life/healing as an aspect by getting it to a high enough rank.

Water is associated with life and healing. Divine rank would be able to heal or at the very least it would open the possibility of obtaining the separate spell for healing.
>>
>>31182873
I'm talking first level shit. Maybe 6 ranks all told~
>>
You know what would be an interesting summon? The Pesta (Northern-European personification of the Black Death)
>>
Also remember that we can get Healing directly from Asherah. It'll take a while, but it'll be probably the fastest way to get our homunculi I bet.
>>
>>31179190
>>31178261
Sorry, and it would've bugged me too. I decided that I was going to run this like half an hour before I got home.

>>31175803
>>31175989

Bigger = harder. More= harder.
So far all summons have been used for combat and fairly temporal rather than dealing with long term travel.
>>
>>31183831
>Sorry, and it would've bugged me too. I decided that I was going to run this like half an hour before I got home.
It's cool, yo. I'm happier that we got through this part than I am upset that I missed. Net gains for pleasure and all that jazz.
Also, I got a giggle out of you using my "Well why don't you just make your hands into guns?!" idea even though I wasn't here. That was funny.
>>
>>31183953
He might actually do it. I had another powerset planned for him, though gunhands might be pretty synergenic.
>>
>>31184091
Gunhands would be kickass, though I kinda think they'd eventually be useless when we get MF and Alchemy up to a high enough level where we can make a bullshit magic gun for him to use.
Also curious about this planned powerset. Don't ruin the surprise, though.
>>
>>31184091
I expected him to just become a bullshit crit-ninja King of Hunters. Stealth, evasion, supernatural ability to discern weak points.

Anyways, since moving water in plants was enough to unlock florakinesis, couldn't we just get Histokinesis to control body tissues and heal someone the hard way, like a doctor instead of a god? Sure Histokinesis wouldn't be great as a weapon due to bodily magic resistance, but that just encourages taking something like a Hippocratic Oath for it. Oh, that also raises the question, can you choose to accept a magical effect and not naturally resist it? Sort of like Spell Resistance in D&D, I guess.

>heal someone the hard way, like a doctor
That's actually very possible and something I referenced before.

You can do it that way, though without proper medical knowledge you're more likely to do damage instead of good. This was demonstrated by Friend and the other Followers that fixed up Helia after she lost part of her abdomen.

>>31184490
>can you choose to accept a magical effect and not naturally resist it?
You can choose not to willfully resist it. However the natural resistance is still there.

Letting someone else manipulate your body is like giving up control. It's a scary thing that someone would likely rebel against even if subconsciously.
>>

>Florakinesis could do to make it a plant or wood-based life form.
Kinda late to the party here, but this means that Florakinesis is life magic? So we could use it to segue into healing and other cool things?
And I assume that it might branch into manipulating animals soon?

>As a human, he looks like a peasant with glowing eyes, and his shoes are on backwards.

Ok, so I think that what we should do is spend 2 points in Materia Firma to level it to Apprentice and then seal off Steam to put a boost on it so that it's at Adept. That would let us make permanent enchants as well as apply MF to all of our -kinesis spells, meaning that Asher could walk around with bulletproof air surrounding him and also solidify air to walk around in the sky and such.
>>
>>31207482
I like that idea.
It'd help out with our Hydrokinesis, Pyromancy, and Ice as well.
>>
A thought

What if we used Pyromancy to branch into Ash-kinesis(whatever it's called) and then used that to branch into Geomancy? Think that would work?
>>
>>31208820
I don't think that'll work.
