General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post, and 5 minute voting period for combat votes. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible. There are occasional roles to keep things organic, but mostly it goes by voters choice. Unless specified otherwise, the best of 3 rolls is the result, and rolling high is good.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. Put your own spin on it, suggest dialogue, add an addendum, or anything else. Just because some options specify to write in, doesn't mean that they aren't welcome for anything else. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

You take Robin aside as you walk and show her the knife.

"You stole that from him, didn't you?" She picks it up and looks it over. You nod. You always worry she'll get mad. She just squeezes you hand. "I'm glad he doesn't have it anymore."

You lean your head on hers, then keep moving. She's becoming your rock.

There are rain clouds overhead. It's not raining yet, but it will be tonight. You hope your tent is dried out inside.

"Is everyone alright with setting up camp?"

The rest of the group almost collapses instantly at that suggestion. There's a chorus of agreement. You're not the only tired one. Last night you spent captive, and the night before you were up drinking and...heh. You feel your face get warm. That night was fun.

But you're tired now. Exhausted. So is everyone else. Here is as good a place as any. It's a small clearing between a patch of trees. That should be nice when the wind picks up. You can feel it in the air, it'll be a wet one.

Vance unravels his tent. It's got some holes from last night. You've already seen Robin's, it wasn't much better.

Jeanine looks over the situation. "So, I guess we're all sharing one tent then?"

You can't really think of an alternative. It's a big tent. You think about what you're doing after everything is set up, but before bed.

You have two things you want to do. You take out Destiny. She looks up at you. She seems upset.

"Hey Destiny. Sorry if you haven't gotten much attention lately. You haven't done anything wrong." You just tell her what you wish someone would tell you in her situation. She nuzzles against you.

You pull her close and study evolution for awhile. Robin lets you borrow her Pokedex now that it's working again. It only has so much information on the process though. You'll need to buy real study material to get a deeper understanding. Still, looking through it, you feel like you get the basic concept. You see that when Raistlin evolves, trading him will make him evolve again. You wonder how you'll handle that.

Destiny enjoys just relaxing there with you, but she still has lots of energy. You put down the Pokedex.

"Alright. Let's do some training!" She jumps up in joy. You push yourself up. You're exhausted, but you'll always have time for your Pokemon. Always.

You drag yourself away from the camp so you don't accidentally destroy the last tent. The wind picks up. At least the cool breeze helps keep you awake.

Destiny looks up at you. She seems eager to prove herself today.

"Hey Destiny. We're going to learn a new move today." She leaps into your arms. When the other Pokemon aren't around, she really likes to get cuddly.

Scald and Outrage give a good water special and a great dragon physical.

Surf is a good choice.

You put her down. "We're going to work on Signal Beam today." She prepares herself, ready to learn.

You shake your head. You need a plan to teach her. Let's see. "Destiny, how do you know how to shoot Water Gun, Smokescreen, Bubble, and Scald from the same place?"

She can't answer you of course, but that's not what you're after. You just want her mind on that. You need her to focus on how she can switch and distinguish between doing on and the other.

"Now, Signal Beam is a Bug attack. You shoot a beam of light." You're not sure how to help her get that far. "Try shooting a beam of light that feels bug-like." Ugh. Your head is a mess. You shake it off. You need a goal for her to focus on. "Here, use this leaf. The more effective you are against this, the closer you probably are."

To her credit, Destiny really puts in an effort. At first it's just a matter of shooting water, then Smokescreen, then Smokescreen in a thin concentrated beam. Eventually though, you start seeing a thin beam of light come out. It's weak and faint, but she's making progress. It still only mildly discolors the leaf.

"Good job Destiny! Keep it up!" She keeps at it with enthusiasm. You feel a few drops. You're not sure if you want to stop now or wait until she's got it. You really don't want to stop her when she's finally making so much progress.

Truthfully, you want to crawl into a sleeping bag, cuddle Robin, and drift off.

But you're Destiny's caretaker, and this means a lot to her. "Good job. Keep going." You pat her on the head. You fetch her a new leaf. She pushes herself harder and keeps at it.

"I think you're trying to push it out too hard. Relax, it's a beam of light, just let it come." You coach her. You still don't know how complicated you can get with each Pokemon. You feel a steady amount of rain drops.

She's fine in the rain, then so are you. You pat her on the head as she makes a small, thin hole in one of the leaves. You take out a branch. "Well done. Let's step it up."

You try to shift where the rain gets to you the least. It doesn't do that much. Destiny seems to be picking up speed. You pick up a leaf and she hits it with a Signal Beam, putting another thing hole in it. You toss out more and she does the same.

Water drips down your body. You're really getting soaked now. And a little cold. You toss her the whole small branch and she cracks it in half. "You did it!" Destiny zooms over to you for a hug. "I'm really proud of you Destiny." You hold her tight. You're cold, wet, and tired, seeing her so happy makes it worth it. Your Pokemon come first. Your eyes are particularly wet. You actually feel really good about yourself right now.

"There you are!" You turn to see Jeanine. "Robin was getting worried." You wonder how long she was there.

"Sorry for making you come get me. I just had something I had to do."

Jeanine holds her cold arms close. "Don't be sorry, just hurry."

You retrieve Destiny and get moving.

"I told her I'd get you. She could barely stay awake." She brushes water out of her rapidly soaking hair. "I had to insist. Come on!"

You appreciate the thought, but you still don't know why she volunteered "Why you?"

She gives you a wicked smile. "Because it's pouring out! I'm soaked!"

You both start running back. "I don't get it."

She opens the tent and crawls in. As she enters, she trips and falls on Vance.

"You're dripping wet." He brushes her shoulders. She got him wet too by falling into him. "And so cold."

Jeanine shivers. "You're right. I can't sleep in these. I got you all wet too. Come on, out of those clothes."

Vance takes his shirt off and removes his pants under his blanket. Jeanine just takes her clothes off and shoots you a knowing smile when she turns to face you.

Wow. She's as bad as you. She starts coming up with all these hypothermia facts and steers the conversation to bare skin cuddling.

Robin stirs up from under her sleeping bag. "Your back." She smiles. She looks pooped.

The hard rain whips into the tent. You shiver.

Depends how voting goes down. To be honest I expected the whole Geno encounter to be a non-stop action thrill ride.

Not complaining though. I had a lot of fun. Just saying I know better than to expect things to go a certain way. GMing and QMing are more about building an obstacle course full of characters than trying to write a book, in my opinion. The best threads have been when I toss out notes and work with unforeseen write-ins
>>
>>31173860
I really like the Geno seen. Not gonna lie, I was also expecting an insane action ride, but getting to take to a potential BBEG who really cared, who not only thought he was doing the right thing but was doing it for a mix of logical and emotional reasons that I can understand and in some cases support? That was excellent. Looking forward to trying to change his mind again, next time we meet.
>>
>>31173860
Best thing you did with Geno was give him some depth. We have Mr. Mad Scientist to be the straightforward villain, and that works well.
>>
>>31173923
Yeah, this. Geno is shaping up to be a very good red herring BBEG. Villains who question their own morality are the best villains.

Primary reason /tg/ didn't do anything rash in that encounter was because he was clearly out of our weight range. /tg/ was scared.
>>
>>31173860
I'm surprised you expected that. Going against the leader of the Elite 4 in seemed foolish if we could just talk our way out of it. And we've shown ourselves to be rather pragmatic in those situations I think. One benefit of not playing a complete white knight character.
>>
>>31174083
Maybe, but he also seemed the type to let us go, win or lose, and not to permanently injure our Pokemon. I was mostly trying to drive a wedge between him and Hornbeam, and maybe get him to pay more attention to his criminal empire before it gets hijacked or explodes.
