Fluffy's current mental state: bored

You are Meredith, and you've been a werewolf for about a year. Recently you came in contact with a vampire who offered you protection. You've just embarked on a roadtrip to the Najavo reservation in Arizona in search of a werewolf named Ahiga who can purportedly control the beast within himself.

"Say my name, say my name..." The music blares over the car speakers and Janice sings along.

-Can she hear herself? She's not even close to on key.-

"I can't take it any more.' Steve winces. "How can anyone listen to 3 hours of Destiny's Child?"

"Say my name, say my name..."

You hit the power button on the CD player. Steve lets out a sigh of relief and Janice pouts. "But that's my favorite song!"

"Heaven forbid we listen to anything else for a bit."

"If you two don't start to behave, I will pull this car over!" You shout. "We're barely out of Wisconsin and you guys have been arguing all way. It's still like 20 hours till Arizona." You switch into the left lane and pass an elderly couple going 40. "Someone get me some more chips." You hold out your hand. Why are vacations always so stressful?

Steve pulls out a tourist book. "Maybe we can just talk about where we want to stop before we get there? I hear there's this little religious sect in Kansas retains traditional spiritual beliefs while eschewing modern comforts."

"I understood, like, half that sentence." Janice says.

"They're like pagan Amish." Steve clarifies. "They're called Hennites."

"And why should I care?"

"To broaden your cultural horizons?" Steve offers.

"Can't we just listen to the radio?"

That seems like a fair compromise. You turn on the car stereo and find the first station. "Ain't no lie, bye bye bye!" Janice squeals.

"Fuck me!" Steve says, slouching down in his seat.

-I think I'm going to kill them.- I've got half a mind to let you, Fluffy.
>>
>>31190875

Despite Janice's weak bladder and near-constant arguing, you feel like you've made okay time so far. The sun dips low in the sky as you cross the state line out of Missouri. Five miles up the interstate, you slow to a stop. Traffic is backed up at a standstill. Steve rolls down the window and pokes his head out. "Any idea what caused the back up?" He says to the semi driver in the next lane.

"The drivers on the CB say there's construction a few miles up the road, and an accident right at the start. There ain't a lane to route traffic around." The trucker replies. "Sounds like a bad one too. There's an exit a mile up. I'm gonna try to get off and take local roads around this mess."

That seems like a good idea. You're in the middle of nowhere, and not quite ready to stop for the night. As traffic inches forward over the next 15 minutes or so, eventually you come to the exit. "Steve, you're riding shotgun. Navigate for me." You say.

"Just follow the trucker. He seems to know where he's going."

You follow the semi along the winding country back roads for a little while, weaving through cornfields, occasionally pausing at a traffic light, sometimes turning. The sun slowly sets, and darkness descends over the plain.

You notice that the night air seems to thicken. As you continue on, your headlights just start to reflect back in your face as you drive further in the thick fog. The red tail-lights of the semi seem to be getting more distant.

"You... uh... probably shouldn't lose him." Steve's voice is nervous.

"I'm going 50, and I can barely see the road in front of me. I don't want to crash."

"Crash into what? We haven't seen anything but corn in the last half hour."

"Maybe a deer?"

The two red specks seem to fade away, and you're left with the fog. You look down at the console. Your fuel light is blinking. Shit. There should have been a gas station somewhere in the last hour or so.

(cont.)
>>
>>31190900

"I don't mean to alarm anybody, but I think we're going to run out of gas soon."

"Can't we just turn around and backtrack? Wasn't there an Exoon at the last stoplight?" Janice says.

"We made a few turns after that, though.. Left, right, right, I think? Or was it left right left." Steve says, thinking out loud. You were mostly paying attention to keeping the car on the narrow road, and don't remember exactly which directions you turned either.

>"Let's double back and try to find that gas station."
>"We can't be that far from civilization. Let's keep going."

You slow to a stop, and make an awkward 5-point turn until you're facing the other direction. You continue slowly on through the fog. You didn't notice before, but the radio signal has steadily weakened into static. You drive about at about 30 back along the road. The car is silent except for the white noise of the static.

"Can we turn that off please?" Janice finally says. You're quick to accommodate her. You continue on in silence, glancing nervously at your trip odometer. 255.2 miles. You've never ran the tank so long before.

You come up to an unmarked intersection, you stop and look at Steve. "This doesn't look familiar." He says quietly.

"Our last turn was a left, wasn't it?"

"I think so?" He responds, his tone undercutting his confidence.

You make a right and carry on through the fog for a few more miles. You come up to another intersection, also unmarked.

Janice leans up from the back seat. "Is this the same intersection we were just at?" Sure looks like it.

Steve points forward. "Do you see that, up ahead? It's a light." You dim your headlights and sure enough, there's a faint glow up in front of you.

That doesn't seem right. "We didn't ever pass straight through an intersection. If anything, we should turn left here."

"Light means civilization. If we're lost, at least we can ask for directions." Steve points out.

>Go towards the light
>Go left, through the fog.

You turn left. Even if there's civilization in the front, you're pretty sure this was the direction you came from. Either way, you're bound to hit something eventually. Something strange is in the air. Maybe it's the fog itself? As you drive slowly along the road, you roll down the window and sniff out. It's something neither you, nor Fluffy is familiar with.

The engine backfires and your car rolls to a halt. "Crap." Steve says under his breath. Your headlights illuminate barely 20 feet in front of you through the fog.

"I... guess we should just go try to find a gas station or something to call a tow truck." You say, unsure of yourself right now.

You turn off the car and open the door. Steve and Janice are hesitant. "Meredith, I'm not really comfortable leaving the car right now." Steve says. You glance back and forth between them. They can tell too. Something is wrong here.

>Just stay here and don't leave. I'll be back soon.
>Come on, guys. Someone has to leave and try to find some way to get gas. I protect you if you're not with me.

Make Fluffy push the car.

Guess I forgot an "other" option.

This particular choice will require a 1d100 roll acompanied with it.

Getting separated doesn't look like something we want to do. I'm blaming fairies.

Are there flashlights or anything similar in the car?

Looks like I made a typo in the last post. The choices were meant to be
>Stay here, I'll come back and get you once I find some gas.

So the second one would be the stick together one.

>>31192102
suggested trying to channel Fluffy and push the car, which would keep you together, but will take 1d100 to pull off.

Additionally, I suppose you have the option of trying to send one or both of them off into the fog while you wait.

"Steve, get in the driver's seat." You command, putting the car in neutral and opening the door. He gives a quizzical look as he follows the order.

You stride behind the car and put your hands on the bumper. It's slightly damp from the fog. Ok, Fluffy, help me here.

Fluffy growls.

You dig your sneakers into the pavement and shove. Nothing yet. Fluffy seems unresponsive. Maybe it's the fog, obscuring the moon?

Come on, I'm letting you out here.

The car lurches forward.

You feel strength in your muscles that is not your own. After the first step, you take another, and then another. You smell the faint whiff of exhaust from the tailpipe, among your friends and the cornfield on either side of the road.

Step. Step.

It feels easier, after overcoming inertia. You continue on, pushing the car, at a speed that would be considered about a walk.

After a while, your muscles start to burn. You slow to a halt, breathing heavily in the thick fog.

"Uhh... Meredith?" Steve's voice comes from the driver's seat. You look up. The flickering light is in front of you, and looks to be glowing stronger.

-This is new.-

You inhale. You smell not quite death, but decay. Similar to a vampire but not quite. Whatever this is is still alive, but you get the feeling it should have died a long time ago.

The light begins to bob and weave as it strengthens.

You step out in front of the car.

-It's human. Or it was, long ago.-

The light cuts through the fog. Emerging, you see an old man, a very old man. Barely a skeleton with skin, his muscles seem to have gone long ago, the flesh draped over his figure without definition. His eyes are sunken, cold, and dark, and in his right hand is a coal. Glowing bright, it burns, charring his arm up to his elbow as he staggers toward you.

"Who are you?" You call out.

"My name is... was... Jack." He rasps.

You feel suddenly revitalized. -This man needs death. Let me give it to him.-

-My turn.-

You feel your body is no longer your own. It's about as far from the full moon as possible; not a star is visible in the night sky, much less the moon, but Fluffy emerged nonetheless. This man deserves death, and you will grant it to him.

You leap forward, tackling Jack and landing on top of him. He swings up with his right hand. The coal connects with your cheek. Your mind is blank for a moment as you can hear nothing but the wails of the damned.

You're on you're back, and Jack is standing over you, a toothless smile visible across his visage. "I outsmarted the devil himself, how can you defeat me?"

Fluffy growls in frustration as he thrusts the coal down against your chest. You catch his arm at the wrist, white hot pain searing down your arms as you hold the coal away from your body.

You extend a foot, kick, and roll. Catching Jack's chest, you throw him over onto the hood of your car, off you and buying a moment of respite to regain your footing.

Jack is spry for a man of several hundred. He rolls off the car and makes a large circular motion with his right arm, the coal outlining a circle in the fog.

He seems to separate into two, three, five 10.... You are surrounded by images of the man.

You lunge forward and Jack disappears. You land ineffectually on the hood of the car, and can make out Steve and Janice's panicked faces inside.

White hot pain sears along your spine. You let out a howl which is drowned in the fog. Jack grabs you like a rag doll and hoists you up off your feet.

"Leave me. These two are mine." He rasps in your ear before throwing your body headlong with superhuman strength.

You fly through the fog. Fluffy is stunned back into submission. You hit dirt.

==

Pine needles. You regain consciousness and the fog is gone. All you smell is old wood. You open your eyes and stumble a few feet. You're not in Kansas any more. You can see what are clearly the Rocky Mountains along the path you landed on, among the pine trees.

The sun is beginning to rise.

>23 days until the next full moon.

Where are Steve and Janice. You look around frantically for several minutes before the harsh truth dawns on you. They're gone. Or more precisely, you are.

You start to stumble down the path. Your head isn't quite clear yet, but you just know you need to get back to Janice and Steve, somehow. As you stagger along, you smell something.

-Dog? No. Monkey? No.-

>control too low

Fluffy staggers off the path. Deep, until the path is long gone. You step over pine cones, tree branches, and fallen logs. You take a deep breath, searching the air. It's left. Back up the mountain. You claw up some boulders as the scent strengthens. Eventually you reach a flat clearing.

"So you have finally come." The deep baritone voice says. You look up. The creature stands in front of a cave on two legs. It's tall - at least as tall as you when you are transformed - eight feet, probably, like the body of an ape, but the face of a man. You smell... sadness from him.

-Not human, not quite.-

"Are you... bigfoot?"

The creature lets out a laugh that shakes the trees. "You humans have called my people many names. Bigfoot. Yeti. Sasquatch. We just wanted to be left alone. But you could not accept that." The creature gestures towards the cave.

"Come, we have much to discuss before the end."

-This one smells special. I want to destroy something beautiful."
