Exalted Chapter Master,
High Imperial Court of Capitolis Sectorum at Tachion Primaris is summoning you to appeals procedure regarding case IMP-NAV-344569 Imperial Navy vs. "Strongback's" crew. As appeals procedure has been initiated upon your request, if you would fail to attend or send a suitable representative, appeal will be rejected automatically. Sincerely yours,

Lord High Judge of Sector Deus,
Nestus Margon

I am not the best speaker in this Chapter, but if you wish, I could represent their cause. Or maybe you are planning to go to Capitolis Sectorum yourself?

=To Chapter Master of the Chapter 873=
=SECRET ON PAIN OF DEATH=

Ave, my name is Uber Aemos, I am a servant of the Holy Inquisition and I am contacting you on behalf of my master Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn. While I have to apologize for him not contacting you directly, I hope that you realise that he is a very busy man. As I am dictating this letter to the astropath he is denouncing certain Inquisitor Quixos at the Helican Inquisitorial Conclave. If our notes are correct, you must have heard of him. As I was compiling the data files for my master to make accusation against the heretic, I have stumbled in the Inquisitorial archives upon a black operation codenamed "Ghostly Justice". Unfortunately the records we have are very unclear, all we know is that it was initiated exactly two decades ago, in 322.M41, by Inquisitor Hesten and that it mentions support from an unnamed Chapter to investigate a base that allegedly was built by Quixos. We then checked the Terran records and it seems that since 309.M41 your Chapter was tasked with protection of Sector Deus. For this reason master Eisenhorn wishes to inquire you whether you took part in this operation or whether you know which of the other Chapters operating on this side of Segmentum could have done it. Any additional information related to this operation or Quixos would be of extreme value to bring his heresy to an end. I am allowed to disclose that he is considered to be Traitoris Extremis and the potential destructiveness of his plans is ranked Gamma on Segmentum scale. That's equivalent to a massive(100+ Klans) Ork invasion. I hope you appreciate the gravity of the situation. For this reason master Eisenhorn will be arriving to Sector Deus within next 3 months, we expect you to provide us all the necessary assistance.

Sincerely yours,

Uber Aemos, Savant Acolyte under Inquisitor Eisenhorn

=Gifts from Terra=
Dear Chapter Master,

on behalf of the High Lords of Terra I am pleased to announce that in the light of the hardships that your Chapter suffered in the past few decades it was deemed necessary to support your cause in Sector Deus. Because of this, a decree was signed that transfers 128th Krieg Infantry Regiment to serve under your command and protect Sector Deus for the next two decades. The soldiers of the 128th will buy you time with their blood to restore your strength and to prepare for the coming challenges in the future. Here's the list of the troops that will serve under you:

=128th Krieg Infantry Regiment=
+1st Infantry Brigade 3000 men
+2nd Infantry Brigade 3000 men
+3rd Infantry Brigade 3000 men
+4th Infantry Brigade 3000 men
+5th Infantry Brigade 3000 men
+1st Artillery Battalion 600 men + 12 Basilisks
+2nd Artillery Battalion 600 men + 12 Basilisks
+1st Armoured Brigade 1800 men + 70 various types of Leman Russ tank
+1st Engineer Battalion 500 men + machinery
+2nd Engineer Battalion 500 men + 1 Hades Braching Drill
+3rd Engineer Battalion 500 men + 10 mobile Hydra platforms
+Total of 20 500 men

Regiment will incorporated into Imperial Guard supply system, so it will not sap your resources unless you will want to deploy it somewhere beyond the reach of Imperial logistics. You are granted full authority over the regiment until 362.M41, afterwards surviving members of the Regiment will be either granted retirement or sent to another warzone, depending on the situation. Feel free to use them as you see fit, Krieg regiments are expendable and you will not be accountable.

Sincerely yours,

Terran Emissary and an old friend,
Drey Kasting

We should use them to retake Triot and EastBurough. Need to meet with Ewa Geemah governor to discuss reclamation of his sector. We at least need to stamp out the Ork and Chaos presence there before it blossoms into something ugly.
We really need to get Wrath of Corax back. Maybe we can send Gladius to Hades after they are done with Erbia. Who knows who has our artifact weapon now. I hope it hasn't fallen into the hands of the Triarchy.
we need to warn the Inquisition about Oskea and the Nurgle-worship going on there or deal with it ourselves.

Radar jamming and vox jamming are two different systems, so far you've had no problems to use vox between yourselves, however it might be that he indeed ventured into zone covered by such field.

>>31243367
Seran reports that making machine spirit talk will require time. At the moment he can only say that the last flight Thunderhawk took was from the general direction of Axis Mundi. Also, Krieg 128th has arrived to Varda.

I approached as close as I could, however even though I am not gifted with the "touch" as yourself, I could feel the reality thining around me. My equipment stoped working, I couldn't contact you through the vox and even the Revenant suit chargepack was drained within minutes. I managed to locate one of the entrances into the ruins, I think the survivor was seeking refuge there. On the other hand I don't know what made him so desperate that he went in there.

Judges before the proceedings come to you one by one, speaking words of friendship and empathy, blaming harsh laws and their duty to follow them. However you understand better - they want bribes. This is an appeal seeking relief for verdict number 5 in the case of the Ghost of Retribution vs Iron Monks. Tachion Primaris, Sector Deus. 342. M41

>5. Participants in the munity of the Imperial Navy Escort "Strongback" are sentenced to 25 years of working in the slave gangs aboard the Imperial Navy Cruiser "Theseus". Leaders of the mutiny, including ex-Starboard Gun Battery Sergeant Fedoric Zurich, are sentenced to death by crucifixation in the plaza in front of St. Evangelions Cathedral in Tachion Primaris. Families of the mutineers will not receive any compensations associated with the death of serving sailor and their offspring loses the rights to join Imperial service in any form.

Reason for an appeal seeking relief are as follows: Failure to follow procedure and allow the naval disciplinary court to conduct a trial, acquit the crewmembers of the Imperial Navy Escort accused of mutiny or agree to compromise proposal authorized by my Chapter Master located in this appeal.

Appeal for the court to adhere to the correct procedure.

WHEREAS, it is highly irregular and improper for the highest judicial court in the sector to immediately rule this case, the proper course of action was for the naval disciplinary courts of Sector Deus to make a ruling and if an appeal was made and accepted then and only then will it go to this court. Otherwise the court will be swamped with innumerable cases from petitioners wishing a ruling from the highest judicial authority that they can reach.

WHEREAS, a case of mutiny due to its importance to military discipline which is vested with public interest requires an actual court trial, not be judged offhandedly by lumping it with another case. (The Ghost of Retribution vs Iron Monks. Tachion Primaris, Sector Deus. 340.M41)

Appeal for acquittal of the crewmembers of the Imperial Navy Escort Strongback for allegedly participating in mutiny.
>>
>>31244413
WHEREAS, the ruling is invalid due to estoppel. Estoppel is a principle that precludes a person from asserting something contrary to what is implied by a previous action or statement of that person or by a previous pertinent judicial determination. The court has ruled that Haran Dreifus is now marked as Traitoris Extremis. His act which damned him in the eyes of the Emperor and this court was the so called Operation Divine Justice which was attacking members of His Imperial Majesty’s Space Marines The Ghost of Retribution and people and world of Varda a planet the chapter is oathed to protect and given to the Ghost of Retribution by the High Lords of Terra themselves. In short, attacking loyal subjects to the throne. Therefore the orders from a heretic marked Traitoris Extremis to attack can and should be ignored not just by those under imperial service but all who bow down to the golden thrown.

WHEREAS, the start of the alleged mutiny was an officer of the ship saying that they were fighting His Imperial Majesty’s Angels of Death. Not pirates as what was told to them earlier. This is a clear case of not only illegal orders but an attempt to cloak such an order in a veil of legitimacy.
>>
>>31244426
WHEREAS, the circumstance of the accused should be mitigating factors to the punishment if any imposed. The accused despite witnessing the other crews of their fleet continue to fight for the heretic were cautious and did not directly shed the blood of loyal if deceived servants of the throne. This was done even when there was a strong temptation to do so since any righteous people do when faced with the fact that they were tricked would extract retributive justice in search for redemption. The accused are also of low birth and uneducated in most fields bar their duties in the Imperial Navy, the fact that they were able to discern the lies of a heretic without bloodshed should be praised not punished. In recognition of the fact that the chief leaders of the alleged mutiny defied orders from a heretic, they should at the very least not be executed in the method reserved for the basest and most notorious criminals.

Appeal to accept the compromise proposal presented by the Ghost of Retribution

WHEREAS, in recognition of the fear of a spread of a lax of discipline of Battlefleet Deus and other naval ships in the Sector, it is proposed that the crewmembers of the Imperial Navy escort Strongback accused of mutiny be transferred to work in the chapter fleet of the Ghost of Retribution for a duration of 50 standard terran years or until death.

This is to avoid the Imperial Navy having to make decide between a swift judgment in order to quash any dissent this unresolved matter creates or taking the necessary time demanded by Imperial law on a mutiny trial as per the earlier argument of a lax in procedural adherence.

The accused will be monitored by marines and serfs of the chapter especially trained by the Imperial Navy in their codex so that any infractions minor or otherwise is proof of their desire to subvert Imperial law and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
>>
Might as well change my name to something proper if I'm going to do this
>>
>>31244449

The families of the accused will for the duration also be considered part of the chapter serfs and if the accused show their adherence to duty for 50 years or until death, the benefits that they and their dependents were entitled to are to be restored without prejudice to them.

Your excellent appeal leaves everyone stunned - the rest of the court proceedings is just a formality as your words have already won you the support from everyone in the room. In the end Nestus Margon stands up and declares:
>High Imperial Court has decided to amend it's decision regarding the "Stongbacks" crew. All previous judgements are detracted and they are now declared to be free and innocent citizens of the Imperium! However as this incident cannot be allowed to become a precedent, they will not be allowed to continue their service within the Imperial Navy. Correct, Varda was lightly infested by greenskins. After a few major battles you scattered their clans and then it was just a decade of moping up the remaining pockets. You lost a couple of companies worth of marines.

Kriegers are a dangerous tool, but as they won't be reinforced, they'll probably have a strong impact on one serious campaign, maybe two if you guard them, after that they will simply be too depleted to make a difference. Or at least that's the usual prediction with Kriegers.

Basically tell him everything about Acenos and his speech. Deiron and all that.
>My name was Sixtus Acenos, First Company, Calliope Squad. I was Librarian of the Silent Guardians Chapter, brother and servant of my Chapter Master Silencius. We were betrayed and we failed. Tell him not, tell him NOT to trust Quixos, He lies about Zykion, Zykion was right, the threads of fate of the Imperium lie here! Tell Silencius, that I witnessed one of them, star children who bear the blood of the Emperor, I am sure! I AM SURE!
>You must listen, you must listen to me and then kill me, for I don't know what he did to me... You must find them all, Dark Hunters, Ghosts of Retribution, Silent Guardians, Knights of Adamant, Storm Dragons and others, we, you, I, no you must find all the Fated Chapters and warn them. War is coming, Golden Throne WILL FAIL and the Box, you must not forget the Box that was given by the Emperor! Quixos will try to find it, because it's destined to...
Tell him about the forbidden world that the Silent Guardians are guarding. Olympia. Tell him about the Sygma-447 and the downed Thunderhawk and how close that area felt to the warp. Tell him about how Faceless went missing soon after looking for Quixos.

>In 331.M41 the Inquisition reported that he was missing presumed dead. However, Xyptus investigated his disappearence and discovered much, his real name is Dran Hesten, and when he investigated Dercius D'anger's whereabouts he seemingly vanishes from records. Xyptus believes he is still alive, possibly captured by the Silent Guardians. Additional information learned in 336.M41 from a former crewmember of his, stated he went to Subsector Tyranus to search for "Guardians" (most likely the Silent Guardians) with his ship, the 'Arcadia Magna'. As he departed, a warp storm flared up and Hesting has not been heard from since, officially he is listed as 'MIA - Lost in the warp', but afformentioned crewmember believes it is something more sinister.

As you leave the Halls of Judgement, you are approached by a cadre of Imperial Navy officers. You notice that their uniforms are different from Sector Deus uniforms. They claim that they want to speak with you.
>>
>>31245394
Let's grant them a brief audience. Let them know that we have no time to spare but we will give them time to hear out what they have to tell to us.

>>
A woman with a set jaw steps forward from the cadre, her natural and bionic eyes studying you intently. "Lord Astartes." Making the sign of the aquila with her contrasting natural and bionic limbs seems fitting as she bows her head toward you. "I am Captain Alexis London, commander of Taskforce Ghost, Battlefleet Paxia. We are indebted to your venerable chapter for the services rendered by your Brother Arcadius and his marines, and when news of Vaarda reached us, my taskforce was redirected, along with the transport we guard, to deliver what we could spare from preparations at Barivia. If you would grant your blessing, I would have the ship and a pair of escorts depart immediately, Chaptermaster."

Fedoric Zurich approaches Brethorius while Chapter Master is busy and hands him his Imperial Navy badge:
>This part of my life is behind me. I am sad that everything turned out the way it did, but I feel that we did the right thing on that day and that Emperor will forgive my other sins for our actions above Varda. I and my men are without a master now and to be honest, we know little else apart from what we did in Strongback. No civilian ships will take us, we are branded as mutineers for life even if court judged us to be innocent and Navy closed their doors on us. Do you need by any chance a few thousand tough sailors? We are ready to conquer the stars for you if you give us the chance and we are just as good with a las-carbine and with a macro-cannon!
+++
What should Brethorius answer him? Is it worth trusting those mutineers? Who can guarantee that they will not repeat their actions again?
+++
Servo-skull arrives with a message for you. Eisenhorn is already here, on Tachion Primaris. It seems he arrived earlier than expected. The message invites you to meet with him atop one of the Hive Babelion spires. As Land Speeder takes you above the lights of the mega-city, you think that it has been a while since you met an Inquisitor. They are never easy to get along with, the toughest and nastiest men that mortal humanity can offer. Even an Astartes has to watch his step around them. Speeder finds its way to a landing platform on one of the gothic towergrowing from the side of the Main Spire. You wave young Scout to fly away and descend alone. At the end of the balcony you see two figures - hunched shape with augmented eyes carefully examining and observing you and a tall, looming figure with light power armour and an Inquisitorial rosette attached to the belt. First one must have been Uber Aemos, genius savant who wrote you the letter and the other...
>Eisenhorn. Gregor, Eisenhorn. Pleasure to meet you, Chapter Master.

Captain London's brow twitches momentarily at your question. "Lord Astartes, I assure you that the battle was long since won by the time news reached Battlefleet Paxia and that we can not spare warmachines or ground forces. The transport carries equipment and material intended to assist in the fortification of the agri world Barivia, along with a small group of skilled souls to utilize it. Paxia intends to assist in your efforts to rebuild civilian or military structures upon Vaarda, damaged by the betrayal of this traitor... Dreifus was it?"

One of the men behind her raises a fist to his mouth and coughs, causing Captain London to glance behind her for a moment.

"Unfortunately, my mission here is not only one of delivering aid to a friend of the battlefleet, Lord Astartes. The truth is quite simply that Sector Paxia's sole agriworld is under threat from an ork Waaagh, and we simply do not have the forces available to stop them in the void. On behalf of Battlefleet Paxia and the world of Barivia, I humbly request the assistance of your venerable and deadly chapter. If you could spare even a single of your mighty strikecruisers and a company of your warriors, our assembling forces may very well see victory in the Emperor's name." Nervously, she regards your silence. "I have also been authorized... to grant your chapter the transport we escort, as compensation for merely sending your forces to aid us, Lord Astartes."

>>
>>31246050
Uh, We tell him everything we know, save our little indiscretion with Tau weapons.
>Operation Ghostly Justice was an operation carried out at the request of Inquisitor Faceless. The mission was to find and destroy a supposed demon threat in an underwater base located on Inaria. The operation went rather predictably until we reach the demon containing room, Area-C228. Mostly predictably, anyway. There we found a lone Grey Knight guarding it. I was able to convince him to open it and there we found no demon. We found the mutilated from of Sixtus Acenos, marine of the Silent Guardians. Acenos said many strange and heretical things. If my memory is correct it was as follows:
"My name was Sixtus Acenos, First Company, Calliope Squad. I AM SURE!

War is coming, Golden Throne WILL FAIL and the Box, you must not forget the Box that was given by the Emperor! Quixos will try to find it, because it's destined to..."
At which point the Grey Knight executed Acenos and promptly fled to Titan.

I find the Silent Guardians a very suspicious chapter. I was able to discover that Faceless went missing not too long after he went to investigate them.
>>
>>31246050

We should probably mention that the Sector Governor is acting suspiciously when we attempted to recall an 'honor guard' from his service. The good Inquisitor may find better use for them, especially [Marine we tried to talk to]
