>Last time-I dress quickly, and find a table waiting for me when I come out. "Did I oversleep that much?""Not really." Rin responds, buttering a piece of toast. "We weren't going to let you sleep through breakfast, but if you were tired enough to not wake up on your own, maybe you needed that extra hour of sleep.""Alright..." I sit down at the table. "So, we have the Jewel Sword thing. What exactly does that mean? We just have infinite mana?""Not... not quite." Rin responds, shaking her head. "I mean, the sorcery involved would let us do that, and having the sword means I might be able to learn it and teach it to others. But just having the sword....""So we didn't just get massive mana battery?""We sort-of did?" She answers slowly. "I just don't know how I could use it with that sort of finesse.""Which means?""Giant magic blasts. Really powerful, but I don't know how much more than that I can do." She answers, frustrated. "I'm not sure how much of it is the limitations of the item and how much of it is me just not knowing yet, but...."Before I can say anything, Sakura puts her hand on Rin's, surprising both of us. "It's alright, Neesan. It's really complicated, right?" Rin nods. "Then you just need more time.""But do we HAVE more time?" Rider asks, posing the question we were all thinking."Unless she's considerably smarter than any of us realized, I wouldn't think we'll learn anything we could practically use in the next few months, much less the next few days." Ilya comments with a fair degree of practicality. "She can create giant energy blasts. That's more than we had before, so what else do we have?" She looks contemplative. "Two servants, a Master with a fair degree of competence in direct combat with them, and a pair of Magi with a small degree of schooling in the True Magics. This is also discounting our allies.""It says something about the opposition that we don't consider those a crushing advantage." Saber adds, looking around.>?

The group disperses from the table, with Rin trying to teach Sakura somewhat passively. She must still be tired.Rider and Saber are talking out possible battle strategies, and how they might be able to fight someone like Gilgamesh or Assassin by working together.I choose to walk out to the Dojo, and practice my own magic. I close my eyes and reflect, bringing the various weapons I can summon to mind. >>31360267>probably Ea alsoEa predates the concept of 'sword', Shirou can't trace it. Period.
I think about Gilgamesh's taunts, and style of combat. I can overcast, and summon them mid-flight, but.... speed is a problem. I could easily be overwhelmed. Being able to summon more would help, but the real bottleneck is how quickly they can be deployed.I start with my swords, flickering them back and forth, almost completing the spell and letting it collapse slightly, watching them waver in and out of reality. And I start to dissect the process. The first step is to set the frame for it, imagining the exact structure. Then to prepare the projection and the magic, and then forcing the spell into reality. It's a structured process..... Right?I reexamine it. I need to create a mold so I can pour magic into it, and then I need the magic in the proper shape in order to finish it. I can't go through the steps any faster. But it feels like I'm missing something......[DC14 Magecraft]

>>31360465Man, that show had some good production values. Why is it that its always this type of show that gets good fight scenes?
I get an idea. It's not my smartest idea, but it's an idea.I need to have a mold to pump magical energy into.......... but does it have to be a complete mold?I start at the tip of the blade, creating the image in my mind. Before I've gone more than a few inches down, I've already begun filling the image with the power it needs. With the mold forming just ahead of my pouring of magical energy, I start finishing the blade at the start, letting it solidify bit by bit.I try another one, starting at the hilt as part of a standing attack. I start swinging it as a simple handle, but it's a fully formed sword by the time it reaches a point of impact. The other way, tip first, seems even better for ranged combat. Shooting swords out in the same fashion Gilgamesh did seemed possible, with some excess energy wrapping around it in the form of momentum. Like a sort of enhancement magic, only reinforcing a reaction instead of an object.I hear a small noise behind me, and I turn to see Ilya's been watching me practice. ".... Practicing?""I'm trying to make the process faster. Speed is a serious advantage." I tell her. "I'm not sure how much faster I can make it though.....""You were already doing it almost instantly." Ilya comments, looking at me. "How could you do it faster than that?""Well, before I could only use the spell after I was done with it. Now I can kinda use it when it's half done."Ilya blinks slowly. Then twice again and seems like she's trying very hard not to go cross-eyed or something. ".... Alright. Ok. So that's a thing you can do then?" If Rin agrees we could Rule Breaker Saber and have her contract with Illya, have Rin make her way to the docks half an hour of so after us, and slap some sense into Archer. And just wait until she meets Archer and figures out who he is, even more so if his wish was used on her behalf. "But do you want to know the reason you will always make me happy? The reason why I will never let you go?" "...Yes." "Because every time I look into your eyes I see that small bit of hope, that one day you might be able to save me from myself. Then comes the utter look of despair as you realize that no matter how fiercely you fight, how long you struggle that day will never come.", Kerei whispered as she leaned in closer to embrace the young man who was her lover. "You're wrong Kerei, I will save you." "But, that's the best part; the bit that makes you completely irresistible to a woman like me. You'd keep on torturing yourself for an eternity just for the opportunity to fail at a fools' errand." She could feel him shaking in her arms with barely repressed anger and despair, so she tightened her grip and dealt the final blow of their argument. "After all, how could a girl say no to a man willing to suffer so greatly on her behalf~" If the sobs were any indication, Kerei would go to bed a very satisfied woman tonight.

"This and that." I respond. "Speeding up projections, partial casting for maximum effect...." her expression doesn't change at all. I knew I was had, but if I wanted confirmation, I had it. ".... ominous secretive phone conversations.....""Mmmhmmm." Rider confirms, telling me what I already suspected."So, how much did you hear?""Why, trying to figure out what you can get away with?" The question doesn't have any edge or chilll to it.... and somehow that makes it worse. Like this was expected."No..... I just, I wanted to know how much you know so I would know how much I needed to tell you." I hesitate, realizing how that probably sounded. "I mean..... I'm willing to tell you pretty much everything, but I didn't want to repeat stuff you already knew.""Well, my guess is that you were just talking to Archer on the phone. Which raises a lot of questions in and of itself." She crosses her arms, readying some type of attack. "Why do you think he might be cooperative when he already betrayed us?""Because I know exactly why he did it, and what he was originally planning.""Which was?""To kill himself."She's silent, posture changing dramatically. "Wait, what?""Archer is me. Or, more accurately, a possible future version of me. He was hoping that killing me would paradox himself out of existence to a time before he signed a contract with the world and became a heroic spirit. He gave up on that because he found out the odds of it working were too low for how badly it would hurt all of you."".... >>31379745"..... And you never told anyone?""I'm not sure how much Saber knows, but she suspects something. Or thinks she does. Rin knows. Sakura..... I haven't told her." I sigh, leaning against the door frame, keeping an eye out for other potential eavesdroppers. "Which is why I kinda panicked when she took you....""... to go kill him. You secretly flipped him at some point, so Zouken was trying to get her to kill YOUR secret weapon....""Which just happened to be me. One of her closest supporting friends, and a guy who she happens to be in love with."Rider lets out a low whistle. "So. When did you decide to kill him?""The second I found out he hurt Sakura." I answer honestly. "I'm kinda.... protective of people close to me.""Any other secrets you've been keeping?" She asks."..... Somewhat? I'm hesitant to talk about my Aces, because a secret weapon becomes less effective the more people who know about it."".....I see." She responds, considerably more relaxed. "....
