LAST EPISODE: There was some severe debate at the train station regarding natural law. You were assisting some Chinese tourists with their travel plans, when you discovered that they had taken a disconcerting photo.

- - - -
You run into the room where Star, Sato, and the Kuei-Jin are performing a rite on an I-Ching board to (hopefully) create a tracking compass for the group of sorcerers known as the Gentlemen's Club.

Kali's phone is in your hand. She had taken multiple discreet photos of the organization the last time they had been summoned to one of their meetings. One photo in particular is of serious note.

"When was this taken?" You ask Kali, interrupting the ceremony.

"Daisuke? What the hell?" Sato asks. "You know better than to inter-"

"When was this taken?!" You demand.

"Uhh, they called us...about a year ago. Give or take a month...why?" Kali asks.

"Because, look!" You say holding up the phone.

Everyone looks and sees the photo.

Dressed in robes, a masked pushed up on their forehead, nicely chatting with a masked woman...

..Is Sato.

One of the Matrix-esque Kuei-Jin, who had been following Rin snaps her head up to look at Sato. Her teeth are bared and her eyes are glowing. In about two seconds, she's going to be attacking Sato.

You jump between them.

"There's probably a rational explanation for this, right Sato?" You say to him. Then you turn to the vamps. "We JUST had a fight over poor communication and misunderstanding. I would like to not have another."

"This is ridiculous." Star says, taking the phone from you. "You said this was a year ago, right? Well a year ago, Sato, Akria, and I were all living out in the sticks. We just moved up here five months ago."

The vamp snarls and the other three look suspicious, but they don't instantly go for claws and fangs.

"Umm." Sato frowns. "That's...not...a hundred percent true, Star."

You slowly look at Sato. "Please, don't tell me..."

"I didn't know what it was!" He says. "They didn't call themselves the Gentlemen's Club anyway."

Star slaps her face. "Okay, I take it back. Just don't kill him, okay?"

"WAITWAITWAIT!" Sato says. "I went to TWO meetings, TWO. Then I came back home. Never contacted them again."

"How did you even know these people?" You ask. "Much less get invited."

"It was at work. I was here, you know when I was doing that job my Dad got me." He says to Star. "I was working in advertising for this megastore chain, boring crap. I quit after a few months. But...well, you're kind of required to go out for drinks with your superiors if they invite you." He shrugs. "They liked my jokes, so they invited me to their club. Thought it was my ticket into a cushy job. The first meeting was fine. Masks and chants and goofy stuff. I figured it was harmless. Then...the next meeting got weird. Like 'I should not be here' weird." He shrugs. "So the next day, I turned in my resignation and went back home. Then you and Akira had finally finished getting franchise rights...and...yeah."

"You knew about them. This whole damn time." Star says.

"They didn't call themselves the Gentlemen's Club, like I said. And I didn't see any spiritual stuff, just a lot of people watching three girls..." He blushes. "Look it was weird. Okay?"
>>
>>31392989
"And we're the Ghostbusters, weird is our profession.

You never once thought to tell us this the moment we ourselves were experiencing cultist issues"
>>
>>31392989
"I don't believe you." Kali says. "It's too convenient."

"Hey." Star says. "What did we say?"

"You really buy this story? He just happened to be invited and then he bails and jumps right over to you?" Kali says.

"He's my friend. Yes." Star says.

She nods. "Okay, I get it. No, really. If he was all suspicious and shit, then he'd be a crap spy...but trust me. He's a spy!"

"Why would I protect a group that attacks people?" Sato asks.

"Power, money, like you said people are connected in this thing. Also, maybe you WANT to be able to attack people on your own later!" Kali says.

"Daisuke...buddy...you know me. I wouldn't...dude..." Sato says.

"You make one move, bloodsucker." Star says. "And you're not leaving this building."

"I'm not saying we do anything stupid or violent." Kali says. "But I'm saying that THIS asshole needs to be tied up and gagged so he can't report that we found him out, or that we're about to crash their club."

"What?" Star asks.

"We're freed from their control." Kali says. "Now we can hunt these bastards down. You'll come in a make sure they don't have any ghost tricks, and WE will HANDLE them." She bares her fangs. "Then Berlin...or China."

"No. No no no." Star says. "We are NOT tying up Sato, and what we are DOING is we're finding these jerks, and then we're going to contact Yasuo at P-COC. They've broken a bunch of laws under their jurisdiction. They'll all end up in jail."

"Oh you can't be serious!" Kali snaps.

Sato's a Ghostbuster and we stick together. Still, this is another lead we can go for,
Also, we're not helping the Vampires kill people, even if they're dicks. Usually those people get killed by whatever they're trying to summon anyways.
...Do keep an eye on Sato though. He might be brain washed or something like that one girl.
>>
>>31393199
I trust Yasuo, but I feel even the P-COC has some corruption in their ranks.

Especially lady Une or whoever she was with the coinincidental anme
>>
>>31393199
Eh, contact the oversight committee about Sato possibly being compromised.

We should at least try to arrest the club, but bring the vampires along if things go south.

They could.also act as witnesses or evidence.

Bring up to Sato that the club might have ways of controlling him without his notice.
>>
>>31393457
>contact the oversight committee about Sato possibly being compromised.
They would probably have him taken away and never seen again.
>>
>>31393199
>Side with Kali and lock him up
Sato is compromised; he might have been given sleeper commands.

>Notify Yasuo and the P-COC
"Look, the P-COC has serious power here in a nation as bureaucratic as Japan. You think the Ghostbusters are bad news to entities like you? At least we have a sense of mercy; they're the ones that fine US if we let anything get away."

Having sato under guard might be a bad idea. Also maybe slime him up a bit. Mellow people have loose lips, if he is lying he might slip.

"What if we slimed Sato?" You say.

"What?"
"Huh?"
"Come again?"

"Well, the euphoric effect will probably cause him to slip any secrets he's keeping." You say. "Not to mention it'll dispel any lingering...whatevers that may be on him."

"That's that gunk that burns, isn't it?" Kali says. "And you want to cover him in that stuff?" She gets a nasty glint in her eye. "Okay. I'm good with that."

Star shrugs. "If it'll end this stupidity. I'm okay with it."

Sato nods. "Sure. Sure. Anything that doesn't involve me getting locked in a room with grumpy vampires."

You all go out to the baking floor, you strapping you pack back on and turning on the slime blower.

You hose Sato from head to toe in the stuff.

"Oh," You look at Kali. "You can come to the bust, but P-COC gets called."

"Seriously?" She scowls.

"Wait." You say. "I don't trust P-COC THAT much, so if things go wrong, or if it looks like they're going to screw us over, or that they're working for the Club...well...then you'll just be there. Got it?"

Kali purses her lips, and makes a long sigh. "Alright. Deal."

You finish sliming Sato. He's covered from head to foot in the goop.

"How ya feeling buddy?" Star asks.

"Pfft, no!" Sato says. "He's WAY too much of a workaholic than to spend time playing with ghosts. But he does all of their accounting...that I have NO questions. Yup. Dad's all about work work work, and climbing the ladder and alllll that good salaryman stuff." He sits on the ground a stupid smile on his face. "But it's all cool. Dad's cool. Even if he's a complete ass. You know he's barely touched Mom? Course, that's more for her than for him." He giggles. "Yeah, my Mom's Protonic-Cycolotron resonates the other way...if you get what I mean."

"Okay, Sato." Star says. "That's enough, let's get you cleaned off."

"S'why I had to be my own hero...get my familial wisdom from the ancients." He laughs as Star takes him to the chemical shower. "I don't even think I'm Mom's kid...know she wishes I was...Dad got SO mad when Mom threatened to come out...so he lies, and Mom lies, and everyone lies and we're all just SO Happy about it."

The pair leave to get Akira cleaned up.

The old Kuei-Jin returns to his work on the I-Ching compass.

"You live in a country of cold blooded lizard-people. I swear." Kali fumes.

"So you're okay with Sato, then?" You ask.

She shrugs. "I guess. I suppose no one THAT dense could be a sleeper agent, and even if they were...who in their right mind would join YOU guys?

"So, it's actually getting nearer to dawn than I'd like. Can we crash here?" Kali asks.

"Okay, okay." She shrugs. "I get it."

"You can try Sachiko's if you aren't afraid of arrows." You say. "But this is the Reject Zone. There's probably plenty of places here that are abandoned, or empty apartments. But I don't want any surprises, okay?"

"Yeah. Yeah." She nods. "I'll keep these two in line as well. The old man's picky about his food, like I said. And as for me?"

She kisses you on the cheek.

"I'm good! Oh don't make that face. What's twenty seconds? Joking! Joking." The old vampire walks up to her and mumbles in Chinese. "Okay, we're good. See you at Dusk, Ghostbusters!"

The vampires leave.

"Greaaat." Akira says. He's come out of his room, having calmed down. "Another unholy hellspawn that likes you."

"Another?" You ask.

"Sachiko." Akira says.

"That's not nice or funny." You say.

"If the horns fit." Akira walks over to the converted I-Ching board. "So, this'll take us to them?"

(cont)
>>
>>31398642
"Yeah, and then we'll call in P-COC and they'll arrest them. The vampires will be there as...backup." You say.

Akira shakes his head. "Being nice to Tigers only means that one day, a Tiger is going to eat you." He says. "I'd suggest going after them during the day, but I think I'd be wasting my breath.

"So that's why I don't plan on joining you guys tomorrow night." Akira says.

"What?" You say.

"I'm sorry. I know we should work as a team, and all that stuff but...I just can't. I can't work with them. I'm not there yet. I thought I was okay with Yurei, and the rabbit girls, and...all that stuff...but it's too much. I need to back off or I'm gonna snap."

"So, what are you gonna do?" You ask. "Just stay at the Factory?"

He takes a deep breath. "I was thinking about going to check out that Cursed House that's supposedly holding an Aspect of Oiwa. It's not too far from Sana's agency. I'll do that and show up to treat her to lunch. Don't worry. I'm not going to do anything stupid. Just some PKE readings from a safe distance. See what we're heading for."

"Still a dumb idea." You say.

"Says someone who's about to do a sting on a coven of Salaryman Sorcerers with the help of vampires...no forget that, just the fact that you're a Ghostbuster alone precludes you from ever commenting on stupid ideas."

"Point." You say.

"Alright. I'm gonna try to get some sleep you should too. Night, or dawn or whatever."

"Yeah. Night." You say.

"Are Mommy and Daddy done fighting on this Very Special Episode?" Star asks. "Or do I have to start singing 'I'm so excited' to clinch it?"

"And YOU watch too many 80s sitcoms." You say.

She sticks out her tongue at you for a moment. Then goes to business. "So, are we calling P-COC now, or wait until after everything's gone crazy?"

> Call them now

I suppose I'm alone in believing that Daisuke should accept the deaths he caused as being for the greater good, and a necessary thing that didn't remove enough problems/cause train delays.

I'm a bit late to reply, but holy shit did the main character channel the spirit of America or something for a second?
>>
>>31401293
Call them when we're halfway there. They'll have to rush out quickly, and that means that we'll have fewer people prepared in the P-COC to immediately betray us.
>>
I'm going to really hate it when we get there, there's nothing there, and we lose face to the P-COC and Yasuo.
>>
>>31402014
that or there's something there, we get rid of it, they bail, and we have no evidence to show for it.
>>
"Better call them now." You say.

"Alright," Sato says. "But if I'm getting Lady Une, I'm...I don't know...saying that I'm watching Akira kick your ass."

"Not entirely untrue." Star says.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." He mutters. "She's barely in the office anyway as I hear. Glad handing people at the Diet to preserve her precious budget. Yasuo, he of the endless tickets, is the working man."

He pauses.

"Umm...I just realized...what the hell am I supposed to say to him when I get him on the phone?" Sato asks.

> Well?

We are following up on a tip about unlicensed and illegal magical activity being performed by still-living human practitioners.
There's probably a relevant section of the code that we could list off for dealing with criminal mages; just check the Ghostbuster's Handbook.

That we've potentially found the headquarters of a group that is abusing the supernatural to accomplish an astounding variety of crimes?

"We have reason to believe there is a likelyhood dangerous paranormal/cult like activity and are going to investigate whether this sentiment is true or now, backup would be appreciated in the event it is true, and if it is not we will inform you of such." You rattle off.

"You are good at this stuff." Star says. "Honestly, what was your major again?"

You shrug. "Undecided."

Sato calls the office, waits through a phone tree, and then gets a machine. He repeats your message...well he gets close enough, and then hangs up.

Just about then there's a knock on the door. You open it to reveal Kali and her 'clan.' They're now all dressed in much more sensible, and modern, clothing. Although the old man is still wearing that strange looking hat on his head.

She shrugs when she notices you looking at the hat. "It's like the socks. Don't question it. Do you know you've got arrows in your sign, and door?"

"Yeah. Those are from her." You point over her shoulder.

"Good luck!" You see Sachiko and Akira waving at you from the shrine.

"Try not to get killed." Akira says.

"Get this done, and her out of my house, or I will put a shaft right up your mmmph!" She starts as Akira puts a gentle hand over her mouth.

Kali chuckles. "This is fun. Okay, got the I-Ching compass?"

You hold the thing in your hands. For some reason, the Kuei-jin are reluctant to touch it.

"How does this thing work?" Sato asks. "We scanned it and checked it. As far as we can tell it's putting out no PKE or any aberrant energies."

"Well that is because..." Kali bites into her thumb and drips a few drops of blood onto the board. "It wasn't completed."

The board vibrates in your hands and you see Sato's PKE meter, at his hip, spike blue.

"Huh. Okay then." Sato says. "So...what does it say?"

"It says we need to take a train, and then we just hope this thing isn't confused." Kali says as you go to the train.

"Confused by what?" Star asks.

"I dunno." Kali says. "Take your pick."

The I-Ching board works like a charm. It looks like you're going to go directly to the Gentleman's Club HQ, no stops, or delays.

"Do people usually avoid standing next to you?" Kali asks.

"Yeah, usually." Star says.

"Must be nice to never be felt up on a train." Kali says. "But I guess that there's a tradeoff huh?"

"Later. Want to kick ass tonight, not make small talk." Star says. She's...giddy.

You get off the train, and spend some time wandering through the streets, trying to be as low profile as four vampires and three ghostbusters can be.

The board stops vibrating when you stop in front of an old theater. Judging by the fading posters against the walls, this play used to do Kabuki, bunraku, and noh. One of those classy old cultural displays, which then promptly faded when the neighborhood became less about old cultural traditions and more about pachinko parlors.

"I'll call P-COC and tell them where we are." Sato says, getting out his phone.

"Seriously, we're really supposed to be trusting your government?" Kali says.

"We already had this argument." You say.

"Yeah, well...I want to keep having it until it goes the way I want it to!" She says, pouting a little. "But yeah, I can sense about twenty people inside there, give or take. Plus a lot of other stuff that's making the hair on the back of my neck stand up. So...since you don't want us to give our kind of 'help' I suppose we'll just stay out here." She gives you a smug smile. "Have fu~un!"

Good thread, nicely done.

So what about that Madoka crossover in the last thread?
Any chance that it's going to happen?

Can't wait for next thread.
